⁶⁰ and laid it in his own new tomb, which he had hewn out in the rock: And he rolled a large stone to the doorway of the sepulcher, and departed. ⁶¹ And there was Mary Magdalene, and the other Mary, sitting before the sepulcher. ⁶² Now the next day, which followed the Day of the Preparation, the chief priests and Pharisees came together to Pilate, ⁶³ saying, "Sir, we remember that while He was still alive, that deceiver said, 'After three days I will rise again.' ⁶⁴ Command therefore that the sepulcher be made secure until the third day, lest His disciples come by night, and steal Him away, and say to the people, 'He is risen from the dead': So the last error shall be worse than the first." ⁶⁵ Pilate said to them, "You have a guard; go your way, make it as secure as you can." ⁶⁶ So they went, and made the sepulcher secure, sealing the stone, and setting a guard.

² And behold, there was a large earthquake; for the angel of the Lord descended from heaven, and came and rolled back the stone from the door, and sat upon it.

⁴⁶ He even bought fine linen, took Him down, and wrapped Him in the linen, and laid Him in a sepulcher which was hewn out of a rock, and rolled a stone to the door of the sepulcher. ⁴⁷ And Mary Magdalene and Mary the mother of Joses beheld where He was laid.

³ And they said among themselves, "Who shall roll away the stone from the door of the sepulcher for us?" ⁴ Then when they looked, they saw that the stone was rolled away: For it was very large.

¹ The first day of the week Mary Magdalene came to the sepulchre early, while it was still dark, and saw the stone taken away from the sepulchre. ² Then she ran, and came to Simon Peter, and to the other disciple, whom Jesus loved, and said to them, "They have taken away the Lord out of the sepulchre, and we do not know where they have laid Him."
