²⁸ Then he left everything, rose up, and followed Him.

¹⁹ So he departed there, and found Elisha the son of Shaphat, who was plowing with twelve yoke of oxen before him, and he with the twelfth: And Elijah passed by him, and cast his mantle on him. ²⁰ And he left the oxen, and ran after Elijah, and said, "Let me, I implore you, kiss my father and my mother, and then I will follow you. And he said to him, "Go back again: For what have I done to you? ²¹ And he returned back from him, and took a yoke of oxen, and slew them, and boiled their flesh with the instruments of the oxen, and gave to the people, and they ate. Then he arose, and went after Elijah, and ministered to him. ²² But when the young man heard that saying, he went away sorrowful: For he had many possessions. ²³ Then Jesus said to His disciples, "Truly I say to you, That a rich man shall hardly enter into the kingdom of heaven. ²⁴ And again I say to you, It is easier for a camel to go through the eye of a needle, than for a rich man to enter into the kingdom of God." ²⁵ When His disciples heard it, they were exceedingly amazed, saying, "Who then can be saved?" ²⁶ But Jesus beheld them, and said to them, "With men this is impossible; but with God all things are possible." ²⁷ Then Peter answered and said to Him, "Behold, we have forsaken all, and followed You; what shall we therefore have?"

¹¹ Therefore when they had brought their ships to land, they forsook all, and followed Him.

⁵⁹ Moreover He said to another, "Follow Me." But he said, "Lord, permit me first to go and bury my father." ⁶⁰ Jesus said to him, "Let the dead bury their dead: But you go and preach the kingdom of God." ⁶¹ And another also said, "Lord, I will follow You; but let me first go bid them farewell, which are at home at my house." ⁶² But Jesus said to him, "No man, having put his hand to the plow, and looking back, is fit for the kingdom of God."
