¹ "Behold, I will send My messenger, and he shall prepare the way before Me: And the Lord, Whom all of you seek, shall suddenly come to His temple, even the Messenger of the covenant, Whom you all delight in: Behold, He shall come", says the LORD of hosts. ² "But who may abide the day of His coming? And who shall stand when He appears? For He is like a refiner's fire, and like fullers' soap: ³ And He shall sit as a refiner and purifier of silver: And He shall purify the sons of Levi, and purge them as gold and silver, that they may offer to the LORD an offering in righteousness. ⁴ Then the offering of Judah and Jerusalem shall be pleasant to the LORD, as in the days of old, and as in former years. ⁵ And I will come near to you to decree judgment; and I will be a swift witness against the sorcerers, and against the adulterers, and against false swearers, and against those that oppress the hireling in his wages, the widow, and the fatherless, and that turn aside the stranger from his rights, and do not fear Me", says the LORD of hosts. ⁶ "For I am the LORD, I do not change; therefore all you sons of Jacob are not consumed. ⁷ Even from the days of your fathers, you all have gone away from My ordinances, and have not kept them. Return to Me, and I will return to you", says the LORD of hosts. "But you all say, 'In what shall we return?' ⁸ Will a man rob God? Yet you all have robbed Me. But you all say, 'In what have we robbed You?' In tithes and offerings. ⁹ You all are cursed with a curse: For you all have robbed Me, even this whole nation. ¹⁰ Bring all the tithes into the storehouse, all of you, that there may be food in My house, and prove Me now with this", says the LORD of hosts, "if I will not open to you the windows of heaven, and pour out a blessing upon you, such that there shall not be room enough to receive it. ¹¹ And I will rebuke the devourer for your sakes, and he shall not destroy the fruits of your ground; neither shall your vine cast her fruit before the harvest time in the field", says the LORD of hosts. ¹² "And all nations shall call you blessed: For you all shall be a delightsome land", says the LORD of hosts. ¹³ "Your words have been stout against Me", says the LORD. "Yet you say, 'What have we spoken so boldly against You?' ¹⁴ You all have said, 'It is vain to serve God: And what profit is it that we have kept His ordinance, and that we have walked mournfully before the LORD of hosts? ¹⁵ And now we call the proud happy; yes, those that work wickedness are established; yes, those that tempt God are even delivered.' " ¹⁶ Then those that feared the LORD spoke to one another often: And the LORD hearkened, and heard it, and a book of remembrance was written before Him for those that feared the LORD, and that thought upon His name. ¹⁷ "And they shall be Mine", says the LORD of hosts, "in that day when I make up My jewels; and I will spare them, as a man spares his own son that serves him." ¹⁸ Then you all shall return, and discern between the righteous and the wicked, between him that serves God and him that does not serve Him.

¹⁵ And he blessed Joseph, and said, "God, before whom my fathers Abraham and Isaac walked, the God which fed me all my life long to this day, ¹⁶ the Angel which redeemed me from all evil, bless the lads; and let my name be named on them, and the name of my fathers Abraham and Isaac; and let them grow into a multitude in the midst of the earth."

²⁰ Behold, I send an Angel before you, to keep you in the way, and to bring you into the place which I have prepared.

¹ A Psalm of David. The LORD said to my Lord, "Sit at My right hand, until I make Your enemies Your footstool."

¹⁴ Therefore the Lord Himself shall give you a sign; Behold, a virgin shall conceive, and bear a Son, and shall call His name Immanuel.

⁶ For to us a Child is born, to us a Son is given: And the government shall be upon His shoulder: And His name shall be called Wonderful, Counselor, The mighty God, The everlasting Father, The Prince of Peace.

³ The voice of him that cries in the wilderness, "All of you prepare the way of the LORD, make straight in the desert a highway for our God. ⁴ Every valley shall be exalted, and every mountain and hill shall be made low: And the crooked shall be made straight, and the rough places smooth: ⁵ And the glory of the LORD shall be revealed, and all flesh shall see it together: For the mouth of the LORD has spoken it."

⁹ In all their affliction He was afflicted, and the angel of His presence saved them: In His love and in His pity He redeemed them; and He bore them, and carried them all the days of old.

³ He took his brother by the heel in the womb, and by his strength he had power with God: ⁴ Yes, he had power over the angel, and prevailed: He wept, and made supplication to him: He found him in Bethel, and there He spoke with us; ⁵ even the LORD God of hosts; the LORD is His memorial.

⁷ and I will shake all nations, and the desire of all nations shall come: And I will fill this house with glory', says the LORD of hosts. ⁸ 'The silver is Mine, and the gold is Mine', says the LORD of hosts. ⁹ 'The glory of this latter house shall be greater than of the former', says the LORD of hosts: 'And in this place I will give peace', says the LORD of hosts."

⁷ For the priest's lips should keep knowledge, and they should seek the law at his mouth: For he is the messenger of the LORD of hosts.

⁵ Behold, I will send you Elijah the prophet before the coming of the great and dreadful day of the LORD:

¹ In those days John the Baptist came preaching in the wilderness of Judea, ² and saying, "Repent: For the kingdom of heaven is at hand." ³ For this is he that was spoken of by the prophet Isaiah, saying, "The voice of one crying in the wilderness, 'Prepare the way of the LORD, make His paths straight.' "

¹⁰ For this is he, of whom it is written, 'Behold, I send My messenger before Your face, which shall prepare Your way before You.' ¹¹ Truly I say to you, Among those that are born of women there has not risen one greater than John the Baptist: But he that is least in the kingdom of heaven is greater than him.

¹⁰ And His disciples asked Him, saying, "Why then do the scribes say that Elijah must come first?" ¹¹ And Jesus answered and said to them, "Truly Elijah shall come first, and restore all things. ¹² But I say to you, That Elijah has come already, and they did not know him, but have done to him whatever they intended. Likewise the Son of Man shall also suffer because of them." ¹³ Then the disciples understood that He spoke to them about John the Baptist.

¹⁶ And he shall turn many of the children of Israel to the Lord their God. ¹⁷ For He shall go before Him in the spirit and power of Elijah, 'to turn the hearts of the fathers to the children', and the disobedient to the wisdom of the just; to make ready a people prepared for the Lord."

⁷⁶ And you, child, shall be called the prophet of the Highest: For you shall go before the face of the Lord to prepare His ways;

²¹ And when eight days were fulfilled for the circumcising of the Child, His name was called JESUS, as named by the angel before He was conceived in the womb. ²² Then when the days of her purification according to the law of Moses were fulfilled, they brought Him to Jerusalem, to present Him to the Lord; ²³ (as it is written in the law of the Lord, "Every male who opens the womb shall be called holy to the Lord"); ²⁴ and to offer a sacrifice according to that which is said in the law of the Lord, "A pair of turtledoves, or two young pigeons." ²⁵ And behold, there was a man in Jerusalem, whose name was Simeon; and this same man was just and devout, waiting for the Consolation of Israel: And the Holy Spirit was upon him. ²⁶ And it was revealed to him by the Holy Spirit, that he should not see death, before he had seen the Lord's Christ. ²⁷ And he came by the Spirit into the temple: And when the parents brought in the Child Jesus, to do for Him after the custom of the law, ²⁸ then he took Him up in his arms, and blessed God, and said, ²⁹ "Lord, now let Your servant depart in peace, according to Your word: ³⁰ For my eyes have seen Your salvation, ³¹ which You have prepared before the face of all people; ³² a light to bring revelation to the Gentiles, and the glory of Your people Israel."

³⁸ And coming in that instant, she likewise gave thanks to the Lord, and spoke of Him to all those who looked for redemption in Jerusalem.

⁴⁶ And it came to pass, that after three days they found Him in the temple, sitting in the midst of the doctors of the law, both hearing them, and asking them questions.

³ And he came into all the country around Jordan, preaching the baptism of repentance for the remission of sins; ⁴ as it is written in the book of the words of Isaiah the prophet, saying: The voice of one crying in the wilderness, 'Prepare the way of the Lord, make His paths straight. ⁵ Every valley shall be filled, and every mountain and hill shall be brought low; and the crooked place will be made straight, and the rough ways shall be made smooth; ⁶ and all flesh shall see the salvation of God.' "

¹⁹ And John, calling two of his disciples to him, sent them to Jesus, saying, "Are You He that should come? Or should we look for another?" ²⁰ When the men had come to Him, they said, "John the Baptist has sent us to You, saying, 'Are You He that should come? Or should we look for another?' "

²⁶ But what did you go out to see? A prophet? Yes, I say to you, And much more than a prophet. ²⁷ This is he, of whom it is written, 'Behold, I send My messenger before Your face, which shall prepare Your way before You.' ²⁸ For I say to you, Among those who are born of women there is not a greater prophet than John the Baptist: But he that is least in the kingdom of God is greater than he."

⁴⁷ And He taught daily in the temple. But the chief priests, the scribes, and the chief of the people sought to destroy Him,

⁶ There was a man sent from God, whose name was John. ⁷ The same came for a witness, to bear witness of the Light, that all men through him might believe.

¹⁵ John bore witness of Him, and cried out, saying, "This was He of whom I spoke, 'He that comes after me is preferred before me: For He was before me.' " ¹⁶ And of His fullness we all have received, and grace for grace. ¹⁷ For the law was given by Moses, but grace and truth came by Jesus Christ. ¹⁸ No man has seen God at any time; the only begotten Son, which is in the bosom of the Father, He has declared Him. ¹⁹ And this is the record of John, when the Jews sent priests and Levites from Jerusalem to ask him, "Who are you?" ²⁰ And he confessed, and did not deny; but confessed, "I am not the Christ." ²¹ Therefore they asked him, "What then? Are you Elijah?" And he said, "I am not." "Are you that prophet?" And he answered, "No." ²² Then they said to him, "Who are you? That we may give an answer to those who sent us. What do you say about yourself?" ²³ He said, "I am 'the voice of one crying out in the wilderness, "Make straight the way of the Lord" ', as the prophet Isaiah said.

³³ And I did not know Him: But He that sent me to baptize with water, the same said to me, 'Upon whom you shall see the Spirit descending, and remaining on Him, the same is He which baptizes with the Holy Spirit.' ³⁴ And I saw, and bare record that this is the Son of God."

¹⁴ and found in the temple those who sold oxen and sheep and doves, and the money changers sitting: ¹⁵ And when He had made a lash of small cords, He drove them all out of the temple, and the sheep, and the oxen; and poured out the changers' money, and overthrew the tables; ¹⁶ and He said to those who sold doves, "Take these things from this place; do not make My Father's house a house of merchandise."

²⁸ You yourselves bear me witness, that I said, 'I am not the Christ', but that, 'I am sent before Him.' ²⁹ He that has the bride is the bridegroom; but the friend of the bridegroom, who stands and hears him, rejoices greatly because of the bridegroom's voice: This joy of mine is therefore fulfilled. ³⁰ He must increase, but I must decrease.

³⁸ "This is he, that was in the church in the wilderness with the angel which spoke to him in Mount Sinai, and with our fathers: Who received the lively oracles to give to us:

²⁴ When John had first preached, before His coming, the baptism of repentance to all the people of Israel. ²⁵ And as John fulfilled his course, he said, 'Who do you think that I am? I am not He. But behold, there comes One after me, whose shoes of His feet I am not worthy to loose.'

⁴ Then Paul said, "John indeed baptized with a baptism of repentance, saying to the people that they should believe upon Him which should come after him, that is, upon Christ Jesus."

⁷ "I will declare the decree: The LORD has said to Me, 'You are My Son; this day I have begotten You.

¹⁸ "Come now, and let us reason together", said the LORD: "though your sins be as scarlet, they shall be as white as snow; though they be red like crimson, they shall be as wool.

⁴ When the Lord shall have washed away the filth of the daughters of Zion, and shall have purged the blood of Jerusalem from the midst of it by the spirit of judgment, and by the spirit of burning.

²² For though you wash yourself with nitre, and take much soap, yet your iniquity is marked before me", said the Lord GOD.

¹⁴ Can your heart endure, or can your hands be strong, in the days that I shall deal with you? I the LORD have spoken it, and will do it.

¹⁸ Woe to you that desire the day of the LORD! To what end is it for you? The day of the LORD is darkness, and not light. ¹⁹ As if a man fled from a lion, and a bear met him; or went into the house, and leaned his hand on the wall, and a serpent bit him. ²⁰ Shall not the day of the LORD be darkness, and not light? Even very dark, and no brightness in it?

⁹ And I will bring the one-third through the fire, and will refine them as silver is refined, and will prove them through testing as gold is proved: They shall call on My name, and I will hear them: I will say, 'It is My people': And they shall say, 'The LORD is my God.' "

¹ "For behold, the day comes, that shall burn as an oven; and all the proud, yes, and all that do wickedly, shall be stubble: And the day that comes shall burn them up", says the LORD of hosts, "that it shall leave them neither root nor branch.

⁷ But when he saw many of the Pharisees and Sadducees coming to his baptism, he said to them, "O generation of vipers, who has warned you to flee from the wrath to come? ⁸ Therefore bring forth fruits suitable for repentance: ⁹ And do not think to say within yourselves, 'We have Abraham as our father': For I say to you that God is able to raise up children to Abraham from these stones. ¹⁰ And even now the axe is laid to the root of the trees: Therefore every tree which does not bring forth good fruit is hewed down, and cast into the fire. ¹¹ I indeed baptize you with water as to repentance: But He that comes after me is mightier than I, whose shoes I am not worthy to carry: He shall baptize you with the Holy Spirit, and with fire: ¹² Whose fan is in His hand, and He will thoroughly purge His floor, and gather His wheat into the granary; but He will burn up the chaff with unquenchable fire."

³¹ Which of those two did the will of his father?" They said to Him, "The first." Jesus said to them, "Truly I say to you, That the publicans and the harlots go into the kingdom of God before you. ³² For John came to you in the way of righteousness, and you did not believe him: But the publicans and the harlots believed him: And you, when you had seen it, did not repent afterward, that you might believe him. ³³ Hear another parable: There was a certain householder who planted a vineyard, and hedged it all around, and dug a winepress in it, and built a tower, and leased it out to vinedressers, and went into a far country: ³⁴ Now when the time of the fruit drew near, he sent his servants to the vinedressers, that they might receive the fruit of it. ³⁵ But the vinedressers took his servants, and beat one, killed another, and stoned yet another. ³⁶ Again, he sent other servants more than the first: And they did likewise to them. ³⁷ But last of all he sent his son to them, saying, 'They will reverence my son.' ³⁸ But when the vinedressers saw the son, they said among themselves, 'This is the heir; come, let us kill him, and let us seize on his inheritance.' ³⁹ And they caught him, and cast him out of the vineyard, and slew him. ⁴⁰ Therefore when the lord of the vineyard comes, what will he do to those vinedressers? ⁴¹ They said to Him, "He will miserably destroy those wicked men, and will lease out his vineyard to other vinedressers, which shall give him the fruits in their seasons." ⁴² Jesus said to them, "Have you never read in the scriptures: 'The stone which the builders rejected, the same has become the head of the corner: This is the LORD'S doing, and it is marvelous in our eyes'? ⁴³ Therefore I say to you, The kingdom of God shall be taken from you, and given to a nation bringing forth the fruits of it. ⁴⁴ And whoever falls on this stone shall be broken: But on whomever it falls, it will grind him to powder."

¹³ But woe to you, scribes and Pharisees, hypocrites! For you shut up the kingdom of heaven against men: For you neither go in yourselves, nor do you permit those who are entering to go in. ¹⁴ Woe to you, scribes and Pharisees, hypocrites! For you devour widows' houses, and for a show make long prayers: Therefore you shall receive the greater damnation. ¹⁵ Woe to you, scribes and Pharisees, hypocrites! For you compass sea and land to make one proselyte, and when he is made, you make him twofold more the child of hell than yourselves. ¹⁶ Woe to you, you blind guides, who say, 'Whoever swears by the temple, it is nothing; but whoever swears by the gold of the temple, he is obligated!' ¹⁷ You fools and blind: For which is greater, the gold, or the temple that sanctifies the gold? ¹⁸ And, 'Whoever swears by the altar, it is nothing; but whoever swears by the gift that is upon it, he is bound.' ¹⁹ You fools and blind: For which is greater, the gift, or the altar that sanctifies the gift? ²⁰ Therefore whoever shall swear by the altar, swears by it, and by all things upon it. ²¹ And whoever shall swear by the temple, swears by it, and by Him that dwells in it. ²² And he who swears by heaven, swears by the throne of God, and by Him that sits upon it. ²³ Woe to you, scribes and Pharisees, hypocrites! For you pay tithe of mint and anise and cummin, and have omitted the weightier matters of the law; judgment, mercy, and faith: These you ought to have done, and not leave the others undone. ²⁴ You blind guides, who strain at a gnat, and swallow a camel. ²⁵ "Woe to you, scribes and Pharisees, hypocrites! For you clean the outside of the cup and the platter, but inside they are full of extortion and excess. ²⁶ You blind Pharisee, first cleanse that which is inside the cup and platter, that the outside of them may be clean also. ²⁷ Woe to you, scribes and Pharisees, hypocrites! For you are similar to whitened sepulchers, which indeed appear beautiful outwardly, but inside are full of dead men's bones, and of all uncleanness. ²⁸ Even so you also outwardly appear righteous to men, but inside you are full of hypocrisy and iniquity. ²⁹ Woe to you, scribes and Pharisees, hypocrites! Because you build the tombs of the prophets, and adorn the sepulchers of the righteous, ³⁰ and say, 'If we had been in the days of our fathers, we would not have been partakers with them in the blood of the prophets.' ³¹ Therefore you are witnesses against yourselves, that you are the children of those who killed the prophets. ³² Fill up then the measure of your fathers. ³³ You serpents, you generation of vipers, how can you escape the damnation of hell? ³⁴ Therefore, behold, I send to you prophets, wise men, and scribes: And some of them you shall kill and crucify; and some of them you shall scourge in your synagogues, and persecute them from city to city: ³⁵ That upon you may come all the righteous blood shed upon the earth, from the blood of righteous Abel to the blood of Zacharias son of Barachias, whom you slew between the temple and the altar.

¹⁰ And while they went to buy, the bridegroom came; and those who were ready went in with him to the marriage: And the door was shut.

³ Then His clothes became shining, exceedingly white as snow; such as no launderer on earth can whiten them.

³⁴ Then Simeon blessed them, and said to Mary His mother, "Behold, this Child is appointed for the fall and rising again of many in Israel; and for a sign which shall be spoken against;

⁹ And even now the axe is laid to the root of the trees: Every tree therefore which does not bring forth good fruit is cut down, and cast into the fire."

¹⁷ Whose fan is in His hand, and He will thoroughly purge His floor, and will gather the wheat into His granary; but the chaff He will burn with unquenchable fire."

²³ And blessed is he who shall not be offended in Me."

³⁷ And as He spoke, a certain Pharisee implored Him to dine with him: And He went in, and sat down to eat. ³⁸ And when the Pharisee saw it, he marveled that He had not first washed before dinner. ³⁹ And the Lord said to him, "Now you Pharisees make clean the outside of the cup and the platter; but your inward part is full of ravening and wickedness. ⁴⁰ You fools, did not He that made that which is outside make that which is inside also? ⁴¹ But rather give alms of such things as you have; and behold, all things are clean to you. ⁴² But woe to you, Pharisees! For you tithe mint and rue and all manner of herbs, and pass over judgment and the love of God: These you ought to have done, and not left the others undone. ⁴³ Woe to you, Pharisees! For you love the uppermost seats in the synagogues, and greetings in the markets. ⁴⁴ Woe to you, scribes and Pharisees, hypocrites! For you are as graves which are not visible, and the men that walk over them are not aware of them." ⁴⁵ Then one of the lawyers answered, and said to Him, "Master, in this saying You reproach us also." ⁴⁶ And He said, "Woe to you also, you lawyers! For you load men with burdens grievous to bear, and you yourselves do not touch the burdens with one of your fingers. ⁴⁷ Woe to you! For you build the sepulchers of the prophets, and your fathers killed them.

⁵² Woe to you, lawyers! For you have taken away the key of knowledge: You did not enter in yourselves, and you hindered those that were entering in." ⁵³ And as He said these things to them, the scribes and the Pharisees began to quarrel against Him vehemently, and to provoke Him to speak of many things: ⁵⁴ Lying in wait for Him, and seeking to catch something out of His mouth, that they might accuse Him.

³⁶ Watch therefore, and pray always, that you may be counted worthy to escape all these things that shall come to pass, and to stand before the Son of Man."

⁴² And they said, "Is this not Jesus, the son of Joseph, whose father and mother we know? How is it then that He says, 'I came down from heaven'?" ⁴³ Jesus therefore answered and said to them, "Do not murmur among yourselves. ⁴⁴ No one can come to Me, unless the Father which has sent Me draws him: And I will raise him up at the last day.

⁴¹ You do the deeds of your father." Then they said to Him, "We are not born of fornication; we have one Father, even God." ⁴² Jesus said to them, "If God were your Father, you would love Me: For I proceeded forth and came from God; neither have I come of Myself, but He sent Me. ⁴³ Why do you not understand My speech? Because you cannot even hear My word. ⁴⁴ You are of your father the devil, and the lusts of your father you will do. He was a murderer from the beginning, and did not abide in the truth, because there is no truth in him. When he speaks a lie, he speaks of his own: For he is a liar, and the father of it. ⁴⁵ And because I tell you the truth, you do not believe Me. ⁴⁶ Which of you convicts Me of sin? And if I say the truth, why do you not believe Me? ⁴⁷ He that is of God hears God's words: Therefore you do not hear them, because you are not of God." ⁴⁸ Then the Jews answered, and said to Him, "Do we not say full well that You are a Samaritan, and have a devil?"

⁵⁵ Yet you have not known Him; but I know Him: And if I should say, 'I do not know Him', I would be a liar like you: But I know Him, and keep His sayings.

³⁹ And Jesus said, "For judgment I have come into this world, that those which do not see might see; and that those which see might be made blind." ⁴⁰ Then some of the Pharisees who were with Him heard these words, and said to Him, "Are we blind also?" ⁴¹ Jesus said to them, "If you were blind, you should have no sin: But now you say, 'We see'; therefore your sin remains."

²² If I had not come and spoken to them, they would not have had sin: But now they have no cloke for their sin. ²³ He that hates Me hates My Father also. ²⁴ If I had not done among them the works which no other man did, they would not have had sin: But now they have both seen and hated both Me and My Father.

⁵² Which of the prophets have not your fathers persecuted? And they have slain those which foretold of the coming of the Just One; of whom you now have been the betrayers and murderers: ⁵³ Who have received the law by the disposition of angels, and have not kept it." ⁵⁴ When they heard these things, they were cut to the heart, and they gnashed upon him with their teeth.

³¹ But Israel, which followed after the law of righteousness, has not attained to the law of righteousness. ³² Why? Because they did not seek it by faith, but as it were by the works of the law. For they stumbled at that stumbling-stone; ³³ As it is written, "Behold, I lay in Zion a stumbling-stone and rock of offense: And whoever believes on Him shall not be ashamed."

⁵ Even so then, at this present time there is also a remnant according to the election of grace. ⁶ And if by grace, then it is no longer of works: Otherwise grace is no longer grace. But if it is of works, then it is no longer grace: Otherwise work is no longer work. ⁷ What then? Israel has not obtained that which he seeks after; but the chosen have obtained it, and the rest were blinded. ⁸ (Even as it is written, "God has given them the spirit of slumber, eyes that they should not see, and ears that they should not hear); to this day." ⁹ And David says, "Let their table be made a snare, and a trap, and a stumbling-block, and a recompense to them: ¹⁰ Let their eyes be darkened, that they may not see, and bow down their back always."

¹³ every man's work shall be made manifest: For the Day shall declare it, because it shall be revealed by fire; and the fire shall prove every man's work, of what sort it is. ¹⁴ If any man's work which he has built upon continues, he shall receive a reward. ¹⁵ If any man's work shall be burned, he shall suffer loss: But he himself shall be saved; yet so as by fire.

²⁸ He that despised Moses' law died without mercy under two or three witnesses: ²⁹ Of how much worse punishment, do you suppose, shall he be thought worthy, who has tread underfoot the Son of God, and has counted the blood of the covenant, with which he was sanctified, an unholy thing, and has extreme malice toward the Spirit of grace?

²⁵ See that you do not refuse Him that speaks. For if those who refused 'Him that spoke on earth' did not escape, much more we shall not escape, if we turn away from Him that speaks from heaven:

⁷ Therefore, to you who believe, He is precious: But to those who are disobedient, "The stone which the builders rejected, the same is made the head cornerstone", ⁸ and "A stone of stumbling, and a rock of offense", even to those which stumble at the word, being disobedient: For that also they were appointed.

⁵ and from Jesus Christ, Who is the faithful Witness, and the first begotten of the dead, and the prince of the kings of the earth. To Him that loved us, and washed us from our sins in His own blood, ⁶ and has made us kings and priests to God and His Father; to Him be glory and dominion forever and ever. Amen. ⁷ Behold, He comes with clouds; and every eye shall see Him, and also those which pierced Him: And all tribes of the earth shall wail because of Him. Even so, Amen.

²³ And I will kill her children with death; and all the churches shall know that I am He which searches the inner reins and hearts: And I will give to every one of you according to your works.

¹⁷ For the great day of His wrath has come; and who shall be able to stand?"

¹⁴ And I said to him, "Sir, you know." So he said to me, "These are those which came out of great tribulation, and have washed their robes, and made them white in the blood of the Lamb.

⁸ And to her was granted that she should be arrayed in fine linen, clean and white: For the fine linen is the righteousness of saints.

⁵ Offer the sacrifices of righteousness, and put your trust in the LORD.

¹⁴ Offer to God thanksgiving; and pay your vows to the most High:

²³ Whoever offers praise glorifies Me: And to him that orders his conversation aright I will show the salvation of God.

¹⁰ For You, O God, have proved us: You have tried us, as silver is tried.

³⁰ I will praise the name of God with a song, and will magnify Him with thanksgiving. ³¹ This also shall please the LORD better than an ox or bull that has horns and hoofs.

²¹ Oh that men would praise the LORD for His goodness, and for His wonderful works to the children of men! ²² And let them sacrifice the sacrifices of thanksgiving, and declare His works with rejoicing.

¹⁷ I will offer to You the sacrifice of thanksgiving, and will call upon the name of the LORD.

¹ A Psalm of David. LORD, I cry to You: Make haste to me; give ear to my voice, when I cry out to You. ² Let my prayer be set forth before You as incense; and the lifting up of my hands as the evening sacrifice.

³ The refining pot is for silver, and the furnace for gold: But the LORD proves the hearts through testing.

⁴ Take away the dross from the silver, and there shall come forth a vessel for the refiner.

²⁵ And I will turn My hand upon you, and purely purge away your dross, and take away all your tin:

¹⁰ Behold, I have refined you, but not with silver; I have chosen you in the furnace of affliction.

⁶ But you shall be named the Priests of the LORD: Men shall call you the Ministers of our God: You shall eat the riches of the Gentiles, and in their glory you yourselves shall boast.

¹⁹ And I will set a sign among them, and I will send those who escape of them to the nations, to Tarshish, Pul, and Lud, who draw the bow, to Tubal, and Javan, to the isles afar off, that have not heard My fame, neither have seen My glory; and they shall declare My glory among the Gentiles. ²⁰ And they shall bring all your brothers out of all nations on horses for an offering to the LORD, and in chariots, and in litters, and on mules, and on swift beasts, to My holy mountain Jerusalem", said the LORD, "as the children of Israel bring an offering in a clean vessel into the house of the LORD. ²¹ And I will also take from them for priests and for Levites", said the LORD.

²⁸ They are all grievous rebels, walking with slanders: They are brass and iron; they are all corrupters. ²⁹ The bellows are burned, the lead is consumed by the fire; the founder melts in vain: For the wicked are not plucked away. ³⁰ Men shall call them reprobate silver, because the LORD has rejected them.

¹⁸ neither shall the priests the Levites want a man before Me to offer burnt offerings, and to kindle food offerings, and to do sacrifice continually.' " ¹⁹ And the word of the LORD came to Jeremiah, saying, ²⁰ "Thus says the LORD; 'If you can break My covenant of the day, and My covenant of the night, and that there should not be day and night in their season; ²¹ then also may My covenant be broken with David My servant, that he should not have a son to reign on his throne; and with the Levites the priests, My ministers. ²² As the host of heaven cannot be numbered, neither the sand of the sea measured: So I will multiply the seed of David My servant, and the Levites who minister to Me.'

¹⁸ "Son of man, the house of Israel has become dross to Me: They are brass, and tin, and iron, and lead, in the midst of the furnace; they are even the dross of silver." ¹⁹ Therefore thus says the Lord GOD; "Because you have all become dross, behold, therefore I will gather you into the midst of Jerusalem. ²⁰ As they gather silver, and brass, and iron, and lead, and tin, into the middle of the furnace, to blow the fire on it, to melt it; so will I gather you in My anger and in My fury, and I will leave you there, and melt you. ²¹ Yes, I will gather you, and blow on you in the fire of My wrath, and you shall be melted in the midst of it. ²² As silver is melted in the middle of the furnace, so you shall be melted in the midst of it; and you shall know that I the LORD have poured out My fury on you.' "

¹⁵ But the priests the Levites, the sons of Zadok, that kept the ordinances of My sanctuary when the children of Israel went astray from Me, they shall come near to Me to minister to Me, and they shall stand before Me to offer to Me the fat and the blood", says the Lord GOD: ¹⁶ "They shall enter into My sanctuary, and they shall come near My table, to minister to Me, and they shall keep My ordinances.

¹⁰ Many shall be purified, and made white, and tried; but the wicked shall do wickedly: And none of the wicked shall understand; but the wise shall understand.

² Take with you words, and turn to the LORD: Say to Him, "Take away all iniquity, and receive us graciously: So will we render the calves of our lips.

⁶ "A son honors his father, and a servant his master: If then I am a father, where is My honor? And if I am a master, where is My fear?, says the LORD of hosts to you, O priests, that despise My name. And you all say, 'In what have we despised Your name?' ⁷ You all offer polluted bread upon My altar; and you all say, 'In what have we polluted You?' In that you all say, 'The table of the LORD is contemptible.' ⁸ And if you all offer the blind for sacrifice, is it not evil? And if you all offer the lame and sick, is it not evil? Offer it now to your governor; will he be pleased with you, or accept your person?", says the LORD of hosts. ⁹ "And now, I implore you, beseech God that He will be gracious to us: This has been by your own hand: Will He regard your persons?", says the LORD of hosts. ¹⁰ "Who is there among you that would even shut the doors for free? Neither do you all kindle fire on My altar for free. I have no pleasure in you", says the LORD of hosts, "Neither will I accept an offering from your hand. ¹¹ For from the rising of the sun even to the going down of the same, My name shall be great among the Gentiles; and in every place incense shall be offered to My name, and a pure offering: For My name shall be great among the heathen", says the LORD of hosts.

¹ "And now, O all you priests, this commandment is for you. ² If you all will not hear, and if you all will not lay it to heart, to give glory to My name", says the LORD of hosts, "I will even send a curse upon you, and I will curse your blessings: Yes, I have cursed them already, because you all do not lay it to heart. ³ Behold, I will corrupt your seed, and spread dung upon your faces, even the dung of your solemn feasts; and one shall take you away with it. ⁴ And all of you shall know that I have sent this commandment to you, that My covenant might be with Levi", says the LORD of hosts. ⁵ "My covenant of life and peace was with him; and I gave them to him for the fear with which he feared Me, and was afraid before My name. ⁶ The law of truth was in his mouth, and iniquity was not found in his lips: He walked with Me in peace and equity, and turned many away from iniquity. ⁷ For the priest's lips should keep knowledge, and they should seek the law at his mouth: For he is the messenger of the LORD of hosts. ⁸ But you all have departed out of the way; you all have caused many to stumble at the law; you all have corrupted the covenant of Levi", says the LORD of hosts.

¹⁶ John answered, saying to them all, "I indeed baptize you with water; but One mightier than I comes, the strap of whose shoes I am not worthy to unloose: He shall baptize you with the Holy Spirit and with fire:

²³ But the hour is coming, and now is, when the true worshipers shall worship the Father in spirit and in truth: For the Father is seeking such to worship Him. ²⁴ God is a Spirit: And those that worship Him must worship Him in spirit and in truth."

¹ I beseech you therefore, brethren, by the mercies of God, that you present your bodies a living sacrifice, holy, acceptable to God, which is your reasonable service.

¹⁶ that I should be the minister of Jesus Christ to the Gentiles, ministering the gospel of God, that the offering up of the Gentiles might be acceptable, being sanctified by the Holy Spirit.

²⁶ that He might sanctify and cleanse it with the washing of water by the word, ²⁷ that He might present it to Himself a glorious church, not having spot, or wrinkle, or any such thing; but that it should be holy and without blemish.

¹⁷ Yes, and if I am offered upon the sacrifice and service of your faith, I am glad, and rejoice with you all.

¹⁸ But I have all, and abound: I am full, having received from Epaphroditus the things which were sent from you, a sweet smelling savor, an acceptable sacrifice, well-pleasing to God.

⁶ For I am now ready to be offered, and the time of my departure is at hand.

¹⁴ who gave Himself for us, that He might redeem us from all iniquity, and purify to Himself a peculiar people, zealous of good works.

¹⁰ For they indeed chastened us for a few days according to their own pleasure; but He for our profit, that we might be partakers of His holiness.

¹⁵ Therefore by Him let us offer the sacrifice of praise to God continually, that is, the fruit of our lips giving thanks to His name. ¹⁶ But do not forget to do good and to communicate: For with such sacrifices God is well pleased.

⁷ That the trial of your faith, being much more precious than of gold that perishes, though it be tried with fire, might be found to praise and honor and glory at the appearing of Jesus Christ:

⁵ you also, as lively stones, are built up as a spiritual house, a holy priesthood, to offer up spiritual sacrifices, acceptable to God by Jesus Christ.

⁹ But you are a chosen generation, a royal priesthood, a holy nation, a peculiar people; that you should show forth the praises of Him who has called you out of darkness into His marvelous light:

¹² Beloved, do not think it strange concerning the fiery trial which is to prove you, as though some strange thing happened to you: ¹³ But rejoice, considering that you are partakers of Christ's sufferings; that when His glory shall be revealed, you may also be glad with exceeding joy.

⁶ and has made us kings and priests to God and His Father; to Him be glory and dominion forever and ever. Amen.

¹⁸ I counsel you to buy from Me gold refined in the fire, that you may be rich; and white garments, that you may be clothed, so that the shame of your nakedness does not appear; and anoint your eyes with eye-salve, that you may see.

¹⁰ and have made us kings and priests to our God: And we shall reign on the earth."

²⁶ And it came to pass, when God helped the Levites that bore the ark of the covenant of the LORD, that they offered seven bulls and seven rams.

¹ So they brought the ark of God, and set it in the middle of the tent that David had pitched for it: And they offered burnt sacrifices and peace offerings before God. ² And when David had made an end of offering the burnt offerings and the peace offerings, he blessed the people in the name of the LORD. ³ And he dealt to every one of Israel, both man and woman, to every one a loaf of bread, and a good piece of flesh, and a flagon of wine.

²⁶ And David built an altar to the LORD there, and offered burnt offerings and peace offerings, and called on the LORD; and he answered him from heaven by fire on the altar of burnt offering.

²⁰ And David said to all the congregation, Now bless the LORD your God. And all the congregation blessed the LORD God of their fathers, and bowed down their heads, and worshiped the LORD, and the king. ²¹ And they sacrificed sacrifices to the LORD, and offered burnt offerings to the LORD, on the next day after that day, even a thousand bulls, a thousand rams, and a thousand lambs, with their drink offerings, and sacrifices in abundance for all Israel: ²² And ate and drink before the LORD on that day with great gladness. And they made Solomon the son of David king the second time, and anointed him to the LORD to be the chief governor, and Zadok to be priest.

⁶ And Solomon went up thither to the brazen altar before the LORD, which was at the tabernacle of the congregation, and offered a thousand burnt offerings on it.

¹ Now when Solomon had made an end of praying, the fire came down from heaven, and consumed the burnt offering and the sacrifices; and the glory of the LORD filled the house. ² And the priests could not enter into the house of the LORD, because the glory of the LORD had filled the LORD's house. ³ And when all the children of Israel saw how the fire came down, and the glory of the LORD on the house, they bowed themselves with their faces to the ground on the pavement, and worshiped, and praised the LORD, saying, "For he is good; for his mercy endures forever.

¹⁰ And on the three and twentieth day of the seventh month he sent the people away into their tents, glad and merry in heart for the goodness that the LORD had showed to David, and to Solomon, and to Israel His people. ¹¹ Thus Solomon finished the house of the LORD, and the king's house: And all that came into Solomon's heart to make in the house of the LORD, and in his own house, he prosperously effected. ¹² And the LORD appeared to Solomon by night, and said to him, "I have heard your prayer, and have chosen this place to myself for a house of sacrifice.

¹² Then Solomon offered burnt offerings to the LORD on the altar of the LORD, which he had built before the porch, ¹³ even after a certain rate every day, offering according to the commandment of Moses, on the Sabbaths, and on the new moons, and on the solemn feasts, three times in the year, even in the feast of unleavened bread, and in the feast of weeks, and in the feast of tabernacles. ¹⁴ And he appointed, according to the order of David his father, the courses of the priests to their service, and the Levites to their charges, to praise and minister before the priests, as the duty of every day required: The porters also by their courses at every gate: For so had David the man of God commanded.

³¹ Then Hezekiah answered and said, "Now you have consecrated yourselves to the LORD, come near and bring sacrifices and thank offerings into the house of the LORD. And the congregation brought in sacrifices and thank offerings; and as many as were of a free heart burnt offerings. ³² And the number of the burnt offerings, which the congregation brought, was three score and ten bulls, a hundred rams, and two hundred lambs: All these were for a burnt offering to the LORD. ³³ And the consecrated things were six hundred oxen and three thousand sheep. ³⁴ But the priests were too few, so that they could not flay all the burnt offerings: Why their brothers the Levites did help them, till the work was ended, and until the other priests had sanctified themselves: For the Levites were more upright in heart to sanctify themselves than the priests. ³⁵ And also the burnt offerings were in abundance, with the fat of the peace offerings, and the drink offerings for every burnt offering. So the service of the house of the LORD was set in order. ³⁶ And Hezekiah rejoiced, and all the people, that God had prepared the people: For the thing was done suddenly.

²¹ And the children of Israel that were present at Jerusalem kept the feast of unleavened bread seven days with great gladness: And the Levites and the priests praised the LORD day by day, singing with loud instruments to the LORD. ²² And Hezekiah spoke comfortably to all the Levites that taught the good knowledge of the LORD: And they ate throughout the feast seven days, offering peace offerings, and making confession to the LORD God of their fathers. ²³ And the whole assembly took counsel to keep other seven days: And they kept other seven days with gladness. ²⁴ For Hezekiah king of Judah did give to the congregation a thousand bulls and seven thousand sheep; and the princes gave to the congregation a thousand bulls and ten thousand sheep: And a great number of priests sanctified themselves. ²⁵ And all the congregation of Judah, with the priests and the Levites, and all the congregation that came out of Israel, and the strangers that came out of the land of Israel, and that dwelled in Judah, rejoiced. ²⁶ So there was great joy in Jerusalem: For since the time of Solomon the son of David king of Israel there was not the like in Jerusalem. ²⁷ Then the priests the Levites arose and blessed the people: And their voice was heard, and their prayer came up to his holy dwelling place, even to heaven.

²⁰ And thus did Hezekiah throughout all Judah, and worked that which was good and right and truth before the LORD his God. ²¹ And in every work that he began in the service of the house of God, and in the law, and in the commandments, to seek his God, he did it with all his heart, and prospered.

¹⁹ Then You shall be pleased with the sacrifices of righteousness, with burnt offering and whole burnt offering: Then they shall offer bulls upon Your altar.

²⁶ And I will restore your judges as at the first, and your counsellors as at the beginning: Afterward you shall be called, The city of righteousness, the faithful city." ²⁷ Zion shall be redeemed with judgment, and her converts with righteousness.

⁷ even those I will bring to My holy mountain, and make them joyful in My house of prayer: Their burnt offerings and their sacrifices shall be accepted on my altar; for My house shall be called a house of prayer for all people."

² "Go and cry in the ears of Jerusalem, saying, 'Thus says the LORD; "I remember you, the kindness of your youth, the love of your espousals, when you went after Me in the wilderness, in a land that was not sown. ³ Israel was holiness to the LORD, and the firstfruits of his increase: All that devour him shall offend; evil shall come upon them", said the LORD.' "

¹⁸ Thus says the LORD; 'Behold, I will bring back the captivity of Jacob's tents, and have mercy on his dwelling places; and the city shall be built on her own heap, and the palace shall remain after its manner. ¹⁹ And out of them shall proceed thanksgiving and the voice of those who make merry: And I will multiply them, and they shall not be few; I will also glorify them, and they shall not be small. ²⁰ Their children also shall be as in former time, and their congregation shall be established before me, and I will punish all who oppress them.

²³ Thus says the LORD of hosts, the God of Israel; "As yet they shall use this speech in the land of Judah and in its cities, when I shall bring back their captivity; 'The LORD bless you, O habitation of justice, and mountain of holiness.' ²⁴ And there shall dwell in Judah itself, and in all its cities together, farmers, and they who go forth with flocks.

⁴⁰ For in My holy mountain, in the mountain of the height of Israel", said the Lord GOD, "there all the house of Israel, all of those in the land, shall serve Me: There I will accept them, and there I will require your offerings, and the firstfruits of your oblations, with all your holy things. ⁴¹ I will accept you with your sweet smell, when I bring you out from the people, and gather you out of the countries in which you have been scattered; and I will be sanctified in you before the heathen.

²⁶ Seven days they shall purge the altar and purify it; and they shall consecrate themselves. ²⁷ And when these days are expired, it shall be, that on the eighth day, and from this time forward, the priests shall make your burnt offerings upon the altar, and your peace offerings; and I will accept you', says the Lord GOD."

³ Thus says the LORD; 'I have returned to Zion, and will dwell in the midst of Jerusalem: And Jerusalem shall be called a city of truth; and the mountain of the LORD of hosts the holy mountain.'

²⁰ In that day there shall be upon the bells of the horses, "HOLINESS TO THE LORD"; and the pots in the LORD's house shall be like the bowls before the altar. ²¹ Yes, every pot in Jerusalem and in Judah shall be holiness to the LORD of hosts: And all those that sacrifice shall come and take of them, and boil in them: And in that day there shall no longer be the Canaanite in the house of the LORD of hosts.

¹¹ And Abraham said, "Because I thought, surely the fear of God is not in this place; and they will slay me for my wife's sake.

¹⁸ And Joseph said to them the third day, "Do this, and live; for I fear God:

¹⁷ But the midwives feared God, and did not do as the king of Egypt commanded them, but saved the male children alive.

²¹ Moreover you shall provide out of all the people able men, such as fear God, men of truth, hating covetousness; and place such over them, to be rulers of thousands, and rulers of hundreds, rulers of fifties, and rulers of tens:

²¹ You shall neither vex a stranger, nor oppress him: For you were strangers in the land of Egypt. ²² You shall not afflict any widow, or fatherless child. ²³ If you afflict them in any way, and they cry at all to Me, I will surely hear their cry; ²⁴ and My wrath shall wax hot, and I will kill you with the sword; and your wives shall be widows, and your children fatherless.

¹³ You shall not defraud your neighbor, neither rob him: The wages of him that is hired shall not abide with you all night until the morning.

⁶ And the soul that turns after such as have familiar spirits, and after wizards, to go a whoring after them, I will even set my face against that soul, and will cut him off from among his people.

¹⁰ And the man that commits adultery with another man's wife, even he that commits adultery with his neighbor's wife, the adulterer and the adulteress shall surely be put to death.

²⁷ A man also or woman that has a familiar spirit, or that is a wizard, shall surely be put to death: They shall stone them with stones: Their blood shall be on them.

¹¹ You shall not take the name of the LORD your God in vain: For the LORD will not hold him guiltless that takes His name in vain.

¹⁷ You shall not kill. ¹⁸ Neither shall you commit adultery. ¹⁹ Neither shall you steal. ²⁰ Neither shall you bear false witness against your neighbor. ²¹ Neither shall you desire your neighbor's wife, neither shall you covet your neighbor's house, his field, or his manservant, or his maidservant, his ox, or his donkey, or anything that is your neighbor's.

¹⁴ You shall not oppress a hired servant that is poor and needy, whether he be of your brothers, or of your strangers that are in your land within your gates: ¹⁵ At his day you shall give him his hire, neither shall the sun go down on it; for he is poor, and sets his heart on it: Lest he cry against you to the LORD, and it be sin to you.

¹⁷ You shall not pervert the judgment of the stranger, nor of the fatherless; nor take a widow's clothing to pledge:

¹⁹ Cursed be he that perverts the judgment of the stranger, fatherless, and widow. And all the people shall say, "Amen.

¹⁵ But the former governors that had been before me were chargeable to the people, and had taken of them bread and wine, beside forty shekels of silver; yes, even their servants bore rule over the people: But so did not I, because of the fear of God.

¹ To the chief Musician, A Psalm of David the servant of the LORD. The transgression of the wicked said within my heart, that there is no fear of God before his eyes.

³ Our God shall come, and shall not keep silence: A fire shall devour before Him, and it shall be very tempestuous all around Him. ⁴ He shall call to the heavens from above, and to the earth, that He may judge His people. ⁵ "Gather My saints together to Me; those that have made a covenant with Me by sacrifice." ⁶ And the heavens shall declare His righteousness: For God Himself is judge. Selah. ⁷ Hear, O my people, and I will speak; O Israel, and I will testify against you: I am God, even your God.

⁸ Hear, O My people, and I will testify to you: O Israel, if you will hearken to Me;

¹³ before the LORD: For He comes, for He comes to judge the earth: He shall judge the world with righteousness, and the people with His truth.

⁹ before the LORD; for He comes to judge the earth: With righteousness He shall judge the world, and the people with equity.

¹³ The fear of the LORD is to hate evil: Pride, and arrogance, and the evil way, and the froward mouth, I do hate.

⁶ By mercy and truth iniquity is purged: And by the fear of the LORD men depart from evil.

²² Do not rob the poor, because he is poor: Neither oppress the afflicted in the gate: ²³ For the LORD will plead their cause, and spoil the soul of those that spoiled them.

¹⁰ Do not remove the old landmark; and do not enter into the fields of the fatherless: ¹¹ For their Redeemer is mighty; He shall plead their cause with you.

⁹ Will you steal, murder, and commit adultery, and swear falsely, and burn incense to Baal, and walk after other gods whom you do not know; ¹⁰ and come and stand before Me in this house, which is called by My name, and say, 'We are delivered to do all these abominations?'

¹³ Woe to him who builds his house by unrighteousness, and his chambers by wrong; who uses his neighbor's service without wages, and gives him nothing for his work; ¹⁴ who said, 'I will build myself a wide house and large chambers, and cuts himself out windows; and it is paneled with cedar, and painted with vermilion.' ¹⁵ Shall you reign, because you close yourself in cedar? Did not your father eat and drink, and do judgment and justice, and then it was well with him? ¹⁶ He judged the cause of the poor and needy; then it was well with him: Was not this known to me?" said the LORD. ¹⁷ But your eyes and your heart are not but for your covetousness, and to shed innocent blood, and for oppression, and for violence, to do it.

²³ because they have committed villainy in Israel, and have committed adultery with their neighbors' wives, and have spoken lying words in My name, which I have not commanded them; even I know, and am a witness', said the LORD.

⁶ Behold, the princes of Israel, everyone in you has used their power to shed blood. ⁷ In you they have set light by father and mother: In the midst of you they have dealt with the stranger by oppression: In you they have vexed the fatherless and the widow. ⁸ You have despised My holy things, and have profaned My Sabbaths. ⁹ In you are men who carry tales to shed blood: And in you they eat upon the mountains: In the midst of you they commit lewdness. ¹⁰ In you they have discovered their fathers' nakedness: In you they have humbled her who was set apart for pollution. ¹¹ And one has committed abomination with his neighbor's wife; and another has lewdly defiled his daughter-in-law; and another in you has humbled his sister, his father's daughter. ¹² In you they have taken gifts to shed blood; you have taken usury and increase, and you have greedily gained from your neighbors by extortion, and have forgotten Me", said the Lord GOD.

²⁰ Therefore thus says the Lord GOD to them; "Behold, I, even I, will judge between the fat domestic beasts and between the lean domestic beasts. ²¹ Because you have thrust with side and with shoulder, and pushed all the diseased with your horns, till you have scattered them abroad; ²² therefore I will save My flock, and they shall no longer be a prey; and I will judge between domestic beasts and domestic beasts.

² Hear, all you people; hearken, O earth, and all that is in it: And let the Lord GOD be witness against you, the LORD from His holy temple.

³ Then he said to me, "This is the curse that goes forth over the face of the whole earth: For everyone that steals shall be cut off as on this side according to it; and everyone that swears shall be cut off as on that side according to it." ⁴ "I will bring it forth", says the LORD of hosts, "and it shall enter into the house of the thief, and into the house of him that swears falsely by My name: And it shall remain in the midst of his house, and shall consume it with its timber and its stones."

¹⁴ Yet all you say, "Why?" Because the LORD has been witness between you and the wife of your youth, against whom you have dealt treacherously: Yet she is your companion, and the wife of your covenant.

¹⁷ You all have wearied the LORD with your words. Yet all you say, "In what have we wearied Him?" When you all say, "Everyone that does evil is good in the sight of the LORD, and He delights in them"; or, "Where is the God of judgment?"

⁴⁰ But the other answering rebuked him, saying, "Do you not fear God, seeing you are under the same condemnation?

⁸ And not rather just say, (as we are slanderously reported, and as some affirm that we say,) "Let us do evil, that good may come"? (whose damnation is just.)

⁹ Do you not know that the unrighteous shall not inherit the kingdom of God? Do not be deceived: Neither fornicators, nor idolaters, nor adulterers, nor effeminate, nor abusers of themselves with mankind, ¹⁰ nor thieves, nor covetous, nor drunkards, nor revilers, nor extortioners, shall inherit the kingdom of God.

¹⁹ Now the works of the flesh are apparent, which are these: Adultery, fornication, uncleanness, lasciviousness, ²⁰ idolatry, witchcraft, hatred, variance, emulations, wrath, strife, seditions, heresies, ²¹ envyings, murders, drunkenness, revelings, and the like; of which I tell you beforehand, as I have also told you in time past, that those who do such things shall not inherit the kingdom of God.

⁶ That no man go beyond and defraud his brother in any matter: Because the Lord is the avenger of all such, as we have also forewarned you and testified.

³⁰ For we know Him that has said, "Vengeance belongs to Me, I will recompense", says the Lord. And again, "The Lord shall judge His people." ³¹ It is a fearful thing to fall into the hands of the living God.

⁴ Marriage is honorable in everyone, and the bed undefiled: But whore-mongers and adulterers God will judge.

⁴ Behold, the wages of the laborers who have harvested your fields, which you partially kept back by fraud, cries out: And the cries of those which have reaped have entered into the ears of the Lord of Sabaoth.

⁸ You also be patient; establish your hearts: For the coming of the Lord draws near. ⁹ Do not hold a grudge against one another, brethren, lest you be condemned: Behold, the Judge stands before the door.

¹² But above all things, my brethren, do not swear, neither by heaven, nor by the earth, nor by any other oath: But let your "Yes" be "Yes"; and your "No", "No"; lest you fall into condemnation.

¹⁴ And Enoch also, the seventh from Adam, prophesied about these people, saying, "Behold, the Lord comes with ten thousands of His saints, ¹⁵ to execute judgment upon all, and to convince all that are ungodly among them of all their ungodly deeds which they have committed with ungodly living, and of all their fierce speeches which ungodly sinners have spoken against Him."

⁸ But the fearful, unbelieving, the abominable, murderers, whoremongers, sorcerers, idolaters, and all liars, shall have their part in the lake which burns with fire and brimstone: Which is the second death."

¹⁵ For outside are dogs, and sorcerers, and whoremongers, and murderers, and idolaters, and whoever loves and fabricates a lie.

⁷ And he said to him, "I am the LORD that brought you out of Ur of the Chaldeans, to give you this land to inherit it."

¹⁸ On the same day the LORD made a covenant with Abram, saying, "To your seed I have given this land, from the river of Egypt to the great river, the river Euphrates:

¹⁶ and said, " 'By Myself have I sworn,' says the LORD, 'for because you have done this thing, and have not withheld your son, your only son:

¹⁴ And God said to Moses, "I AM THAT I AM": And He said, "Thus you shall say to the children of Israel, 'I AM has sent me to you.' " ¹⁵ And moreover God said to Moses, "Thus you shall say to the children of Israel, 'The LORD God of your fathers, the God of Abraham, the God of Isaac, and the God of Jacob, has sent me to you: This is My name forever, and this is My memorial to all generations.'

¹⁹ God is not a man, that he should lie; neither the son of man, that he should repent: Has he said, "and shall he not do it? Or has he spoken, and shall he not make it good?

²⁹ And also the Strength of Israel will not lie nor repent: For He is not a man, that He should repent."

⁷ You are the LORD the God, who did choose Abram, and brought him forth out of Ur of the Chaldeans, and gave him the name of Abraham; ⁸ and found his heart faithful before you, and made a covenant with him to give the land of the Canaanites, the Hittites, the Amorites, and the Perizzites, and the Jebusites, and the Girgashites, to give it, I say, "to his seed, and have performed your words; for you are righteous:

³⁸ But He, being full of compassion, forgave their iniquity, and did not destroy them: Yes, many a time He turned His anger away, and did not stir up all His wrath.

⁵⁷ But turned back, and dealt unfaithfully like their fathers: They were turned aside like a deceitful bow.

²⁶ They shall perish, but You shall endure: Yes, all of them shall wax old like a garment; as a vesture You shall change them, and they shall be changed:

¹⁷ But the mercy of the LORD is from everlasting to everlasting upon those who fear Him, and His righteousness to children's children;

⁷ He is the LORD our God: His judgments are in all the earth. ⁸ He has remembered His covenant forever, the word which He commanded to a thousand generations. ⁹ The covenant which He made with Abraham, and His oath to Isaac; ¹⁰ and confirmed the same to Jacob for a law, and to Israel for an everlasting covenant:

²⁸ Have you not known? Have you not heard, that the everlasting God, the LORD, the Creator of the ends of the earth, does not faint, nor is weary? There is no searching of His understanding. ²⁹ He gives power to the faint; and to those who have no might He increases strength. ³⁰ Even the youths shall faint and be weary, and the young men shall utterly fall: ³¹ But those who wait upon the LORD shall renew their strength; they shall mount up with wings like eagles; they shall run, and not be weary; they shall walk, and not faint.

¹³ For I the LORD your God will hold your right hand, saying to you, 'Fear not; I will help you.

⁵ Thus said God the LORD, He who created heaven, and stretched them out; He who spread forth the earth, and that which comes out of it; He that gives breath to the people on it, and spirit to those who walk in it: ⁶ I the LORD have called You in righteousness, and will hold Your hand, and will keep You, and give You as a covenant to the people, for a light to the Gentiles; ⁷ to open the blind eyes, to bring out the prisoners from the prison, and those who sit in darkness out of the prison house. ⁸ I am the LORD: That is My name: And My glory I will not give to another, neither My praise to graven images.

¹¹ I, even I, am the LORD; and besides Me there is no savior. ¹² I have declared, and have saved, and I have shown, when there was no strange god among you: Therefore you are My witnesses", says the LORD, that I am God.

⁶ Thus says the LORD the King of Israel, and His Redeemer the LORD of hosts; I am the first, and I am the last; and beside Me there is no God.

⁵ I am the LORD, and there is none other, there is no God besides Me: I girded you, though you have not known Me: ⁶ That they may know from the rising of the sun, and from the west, that there is none besides Me. I am the LORD, and there is none other. ⁷ I form the light, and create darkness: I make peace, and create calamity: I the LORD do all these things. ⁸ Rain down, you heavens, from above, and let the skies pour down righteousness: Let the earth open, and let them bring forth salvation, and let righteousness spring up together; I the LORD have created it.

²⁷ "Behold, I am the LORD, the God of all flesh: Is there anything too hard for Me?

²² It is by the LORD's mercies that we are not consumed, because His compassions never fail. ²³ They are new every morning: Great is Your faithfulness.

⁹ I will not execute the fierceness of My anger, I will not return to destroy Ephraim: For I am God, and not man; the Holy One in the midst of you: And I will not enter into the city.

¹⁰ For if, when we were enemies, we were reconciled to God by the death of His Son, much more, being reconciled, we shall be saved by His life.

²⁸ And we know that all things work together for good to those who love God, to those who are the called according to His purpose. ²⁹ For whom He foreknew, He also predestined to be conformed to the image of His Son, that He might be the firstborn among many brethren. ³⁰ Moreover, whom He predestined, these He also called: Whom He called, these He also justified: And whom He justified, these He also glorified. ³¹ What then shall we say to these things? If God is for us, who can be against us? ³² He that did not spare His own Son, but delivered Him up for us all, how shall He not together with Him also freely give us all things?

²⁸ Concerning the gospel, they are enemies for your sakes: But concerning the chosen, they are beloved for the fathers' sakes. ²⁹ For the gifts and calling of God are without repentance.

⁶ being confident of this very thing, that He which has begun a good work in you will perform it until the day of Jesus Christ:

¹³ But we are bound to always give thanks to God for you, brethren, beloved of the Lord, because God has chosen you for salvation from the beginning through sanctification of the Spirit and belief of the truth: ¹⁴ Therefore He called you by our gospel, to the obtaining of the glory of our Lord Jesus Christ.

¹⁸ That by two immutable things, in which it was impossible for God to lie, we might have a strong consolation, who have fled for refuge to lay hold upon the hope set before us:

⁸ Jesus Christ, the same yesterday, today, and forever.

¹⁷ Every good gift and every perfect gift is from above, and comes down from the Father of lights, with whom is no variableness, nor shadow of turning.

⁸ "I am Alpha and Omega, the beginning and the ending", says the Lord, "which is, and which was, and which is to come, the Almighty."

¹³ I am Alpha and Omega, the beginning and the end, the First and the Last."

⁴⁰ If they shall confess their iniquity, and the iniquity of their fathers, with their trespass which they trespassed against me, and that also they have walked contrary to me; ⁴¹ and that I also have walked contrary to them, and have brought them into the land of their enemies; if then their uncircumcised hearts be humbled, and they then accept of the punishment of their iniquity: ⁴² Then will I remember My covenant with Jacob, and also My covenant with Isaac, and also My covenant with Abraham will I remember; and I will remember the land.

²⁹ But if from there you shall seek the LORD your God, you shall find him, if you seek him with all your heart and with all your soul. ³⁰ When you are in tribulation, and all these things are come on you, even in the latter days, if you turn to the LORD your God, and shall be obedient to his voice; ³¹ (For the LORD your God is a merciful God); he will not forsake you, neither destroy you, nor forget the covenant of your fathers which he swore to them.

⁷ Remember, and forget not, how you provoked the LORD your God to wrath in the wilderness: From the day that you did depart out of the land of Egypt, until you came to this place, you have been rebellious against the LORD. ⁸ Also in Horeb you provoked the LORD to wrath, so that the LORD was angry with you to have destroyed you. ⁹ When I was gone up into the mount to receive the tablets of stone, even the tablets of the covenant which the LORD made with you, then I stayed in the mount forty days and forty nights, I neither ate bread nor drink water: ¹⁰ And the LORD delivered to me two tablets of stone written with the finger of God; and on them was written according to all the words, which the LORD spoke with you in the mount out of the middle of the fire on the day of the assembly. ¹¹ And it came to pass at the end of forty days and forty nights, that the LORD gave me the two tablets of stone, even the tablets of the covenant. ¹² And the LORD said to me, Arise, get yourself down quickly from hence; for your people which you have brought forth out of Egypt have corrupted themselves; they are quickly turned aside out of the way which I commanded them; they have made them a molten image. ¹³ Furthermore the LORD spoke to me, saying, "I have seen this people, and behold, it is a stiff-necked people: ¹⁴ Let me alone, that I may destroy them, and blot out their name from under heaven: And I will make of you a nation mightier and greater than they. ¹⁵ So I turned and came down from the mount, and the mount burned with fire: And the two tablets of the covenant were in my two hands. ¹⁶ And I looked, and behold, you had sinned against the LORD your God, and had made you a molten calf: You had turned aside quickly out of the way which the LORD had commanded you. ¹⁷ And I took the two tables, and cast them out of my two hands, and broke them before your eyes. ¹⁸ And I fell down before the LORD, as at the first, forty days and forty nights: I did neither eat bread, nor drink water, because of all your sins which you sinned, in doing wickedly in the sight of the LORD, to provoke him to anger. ¹⁹ For I was afraid of the anger and hot displeasure, with which the LORD was wroth against you to destroy you. But the LORD listened to me at that time also. ²⁰ And the LORD was very angry with Aaron to have destroyed him: And I prayed for Aaron also the same time. ²¹ And I took your sin, the calf which you had made, and burnt it with fire, and stamped it, and ground it very small, even until it was as small as dust: And I cast its dust into the brook that descended out of the mount.

¹ And it shall come to pass, when all these things are come on you, the blessing and the curse, which I have set before you, and you shall call them to mind among all the nations, where the LORD your God has driven you, ² and shall return to the LORD your God, and shall obey his voice according to all that I command you this day, you and your children, with all your heart, and with all your soul; ³ that then the LORD your God will turn your captivity, and have compassion on you, and will return and gather you from all the nations, where the LORD your God has scattered you. ⁴ If any of your be driven out to the outmost parts of heaven, from there will the LORD your God gather you, and from there will he fetch you:

²⁰ For when I shall have brought them into the land which I swore to their fathers, that flows with milk and honey; and they shall have eaten and filled themselves, and waxen fat; then will they turn to other gods, and serve them, and provoke me, and break My covenant.

²⁷ For I know your rebellion, and your stiff neck: Behold, while I am yet alive with you this day, you have been rebellious against the LORD; and how much more after my death? ²⁸ Gather to me all the elders of your tribes, and your officers, that I may speak these words in their ears, and call heaven and earth to record against them. ²⁹ For I know that after my death you will utterly corrupt yourselves, and turn aside from the way which I have commanded you; and evil will befall you in the latter days; because you will do evil in the sight of the LORD, to provoke him to anger through the work of your hands.

⁴⁷ yet if they shall bethink themselves in the land where they were carried captives, and repent, and make supplication to you in the land of those that carried them captives, saying, "We have sinned, and have done perversely, we have committed wickedness; ⁴⁸ and so return to you with all their heart, and with all their soul, in the land of their enemies, which led them away captive, and pray to you toward their land, which you gave to their fathers, the city which you have chosen, and the house which I have built for your name: ⁴⁹ Then hear you their prayer and their supplication in heaven your dwelling place, and maintain their cause,

⁸ Remember, I beseech you, the word that you commanded your servant Moses, saying, "If you transgress, I will scatter you abroad among the nations: ⁹ But if you turn to me, and keep My commandments, and do them; though there were of you cast out to the uttermost part of the heaven, yet I will gather them from there, and will bring them to the place that I have chosen to set my name there.

¹⁶ But they and our fathers dealt proudly, and hardened their necks, and did not hearken to your commandments, ¹⁷ and refused to obey, neither were mindful of your wonders that you did among them; but hardened their necks, and in their rebellion appointed a captain to return to their bondage: But you are a God ready to pardon, gracious and merciful, slow to anger, and of great kindness, and forsook them not.

²⁶ Nevertheless they were disobedient, and rebelled against you, and cast your law behind their backs, and slew your prophets which testified against them to turn them to you, and they worked great provocations.

²⁸ But after they had rest, they did evil again before you: Therefore left you them in the land of their enemies, so that they had the dominion over them: Yet when they returned, and cried out to you, you heard them from heaven; and many times did you deliver them according to your mercies; ²⁹ and testified against them, that you might bring them again to your law: Yet they dealt proudly, and did not hearken to your commandments, but sinned against your judgments, (which if a man do, he shall live in them); and withdrew the shoulder, and hardened their neck, and would not hear. ³⁰ Yet many years did you forbear them, and testified against them by your spirit in your prophets: Yet would they not give ear: Therefore gave you them into the hand of the people of the lands.

⁸ And might not be as their fathers, a stubborn and rebellious generation; a generation that did not set their heart aright, and whose spirit was not steadfast with God. ⁹ The children of Ephraim, being armed, and carrying bows, turned back in the day of battle. ¹⁰ They did not keep the covenant of God, and refused to walk in His law;

⁶ All of you seek the LORD while He may be found, call on Him while He is near: ⁷ Let the wicked forsake his way, and the unrighteous man his thoughts: And let him return to the LORD, and He will have mercy on him; and to our God, for He will abundantly pardon.

² I have spread out My hands all day long to a rebellious people, who walk in a way that was not good, after their own thoughts;

¹² Go and proclaim these words toward the north, and say, 'Return, you backsliding Israel', said the LORD; 'and I will not cause My anger to fall upon you: For I am merciful', said the LORD, 'and I will not keep anger forever. ¹³ Only acknowledge your iniquity, that you have transgressed against the LORD your God, and have scattered your ways to the strangers under every green tree, and you have not obeyed My voice', said the LORD. ¹⁴ 'Turn, O backsliding children', said the LORD; 'for I am married to you: And I will take one of you from a city, and two from a family, and I will bring you to Zion:

²² Return, you backsliding children, and I will heal your backslidings. Behold, we come to you; for you are the LORD our God."

²⁶ Yet they did not listen to me, nor inclined their ear, but hardened their neck: They did worse than their fathers.

³⁰ Therefore I will judge you, O house of Israel, everyone according to his ways", said the Lord GOD. "Repent, and turn yourselves from all your transgressions; so iniquity shall not be your ruin. ³¹ Cast away all your transgressions from you, by which you have transgressed; and make yourself a new heart and a new spirit: For why will you die, O house of Israel? ³² For I have no pleasure in the death of him who dies", said the Lord GOD: "therefore turn yourselves, and live."

⁸ But they rebelled against Me, and would not listen to Me: Every man did not cast away the abominations of their eyes, neither did they forsake the idols of Egypt: Then I said, 'I will pour out My fury upon them, to accomplish My anger against them in the midst of the land of Egypt.

¹³ But the house of Israel rebelled against Me in the wilderness: They did not walk in My statutes, and they despised My judgments, which if a man do, he shall even live in them; and they greatly polluted My Sabbaths: Then I said, 'I will pour out My fury upon them in the wilderness, to consume them.'

²¹ Notwithstanding the children rebelled against Me: They did not walk in My statutes, neither kept My judgments to do them, which if a man do, he shall live in and by them; they polluted My Sabbaths: Then I said, 'I will pour out My fury on them, to accomplish My anger against them in the wilderness.'

²⁸ For when I had brought them into the land, for which I lifted up My hand to give it to them, then they saw every high hill, and all the thick trees, and they offered their sacrifices there, and they presented the provocation of their offering there: There also they made their sweet smell, and poured out their drink offerings there."

¹ O Israel, return to the LORD your God; for you have fallen by your iniquity.

³ Therefore say you to them, 'Thus says the LORD of hosts; "Turn to Me", says the LORD of hosts, "and I will turn to you", says the LORD of hosts.

⁶ "A son honors his father, and a servant his master: If then I am a father, where is My honor? And if I am a master, where is My fear?, says the LORD of hosts to you, O priests, that despise My name. And you all say, 'In what have we despised Your name?'

¹³ "Your words have been stout against Me", says the LORD. "Yet you say, 'What have we spoken so boldly against You?'

²⁷ Woe to you, scribes and Pharisees, hypocrites! For you are similar to whitened sepulchers, which indeed appear beautiful outwardly, but inside are full of dead men's bones, and of all uncleanness.

⁴⁸ Truly you bear witness that you allow the deeds of your fathers: For they indeed killed them, and you build their sepulchers. ⁴⁹ Therefore the wisdom of God also said, 'I will send them prophets and apostles, and some of them they shall slay and persecute': ⁵⁰ That the blood of all the prophets, which was shed from the foundation of the world, may be required of this generation; ⁵¹ from the blood of Abel to the blood of Zacharias, who perished between the altar and the temple: Truly I say to you, It shall be required of this generation.

¹⁶ And he would have gladly filled his belly with the husks that the swine ate: But no one gave to him.

⁵¹ "You stiff necked and uncircumcised in heart and ears, you always resist the Holy Spirit: As your fathers did, so you do. ⁵² Which of the prophets have not your fathers persecuted? And they have slain those which foretold of the coming of the Just One; of whom you now have been the betrayers and murderers:

⁹ For I was alive without the law once: But when the commandment came, sin revived, and I died.

³ For they being ignorant of God's righteousness, and going about to establish their own righteousness, have not submitted themselves to the righteousness of God.

²¹ But to Israel he said, "All day long I have stretched forth My hands to a disobedient and contrary people."

⁸ Draw near to God, and He will draw near to you. Cleanse your hands, you sinners; and purify your hearts, you double-minded.

¹⁵ if a soul commit a trespass, and sin through ignorance, in the holy things of the LORD; then he shall bring for his trespass to the LORD a ram without blemish out of the flocks, with your estimation by shekels of silver, after the shekel of the sanctuary, for a trespass offering. ¹⁶ And he shall make amends for the harm that he has done in the holy thing, and shall add the fifth part thereto, and give it to the priest: And the priest shall make an atonement for him with the ram of the trespass offering, and it shall be forgiven him.

² speak to the children of Israel, and say to them, When a man shall make a singular vow, the persons shall be for the LORD by your estimation. ³ And your estimation shall be of the male from twenty years old even to sixty years old, even your estimation shall be fifty shekels of silver, after the shekel of the sanctuary. ⁴ And if it be a female, then your estimation shall be thirty shekels. ⁵ And if it be from five years old even to twenty years old, then your estimation shall be of the male twenty shekels, and for the female ten shekels. ⁶ And if it be from a month old even to five years old, then your estimation shall be of the male five shekels of silver, and for the female your estimation shall be three shekels of silver. ⁷ And if it be from sixty years old and above; if it be a male, then your estimation shall be fifteen shekels, and for the female ten shekels. ⁸ But if he be poorer than your estimation, then he shall present himself before the priest, and the priest shall value him; according to his ability that vowed shall the priest value him. ⁹ And if it be a beast, whereof men bring an offering to the LORD, all that any man gives of such to the LORD shall be holy. ¹⁰ He shall not alter it, nor change it, a good for a bad, or a bad for a good: And if he shall at all change beast for beast, then it and its exchange shall be holy. ¹¹ And if it be any unclean beast, of which they do not offer a sacrifice to the LORD, then he shall present the beast before the priest: ¹² And the priest shall value it, whether it be good or bad: As you value it, who are the priest, so shall it be. ¹³ But if he will at all redeem it, then he shall add a fifth part of it to your estimation. ¹⁴ And when a man shall sanctify his house to be holy to the LORD, then the priest shall estimate it, whether it be good or bad: As the priest shall estimate it, so shall it stand. ¹⁵ And if he that sanctified it will redeem his house, then he shall add the fifth part of the money of your estimation to it, and it shall be his. ¹⁶ And if a man shall sanctify to the LORD some part of a field of his possession, then your estimation shall be according to its seed: An homer of barley seed shall be valued at fifty shekels of silver. ¹⁷ If he sanctify his field from the year of jubilee, according to your estimation it shall stand. ¹⁸ But if he sanctify his field after the jubilee, then the priest shall reckon to him the money according to the years that remain, even to the year of the jubilee, and it shall be abated from your estimation. ¹⁹ And if he that sanctified the field will in any wise redeem it, then he shall add the fifth part of the money of your estimation to it, and it shall be assured to him. ²⁰ And if he will not redeem the field, or if he have sold the field to another man, it shall not be redeemed any more. ²¹ But the field, when it goes out in the jubilee, shall be holy to the LORD, as a field devoted; its possession shall be the priest's. ²² And if a man sanctify to the LORD a field which he has bought, which is not of the fields of his possession; ²³ then the priest shall reckon to him the worth of your estimation, even to the year of the jubilee: And he shall give your estimation in that day, as a holy thing to the LORD. ²⁴ In the year of the jubilee the field shall return to him of whom it was bought, even to him to whom the possession of the land did belong. ²⁵ And all your estimations shall be according to the shekel of the sanctuary: Twenty gerahs shall be the shekel. ²⁶ Only the firstling of the beasts, which should be the LORD's firstling, no man shall sanctify it; whether it be ox, or sheep: It is the LORD's. ²⁷ And if it be of an unclean beast, then he shall redeem it according to your estimation, and shall add a fifth part of it thereto: Or if it be not redeemed, then it shall be sold according to your estimation. ²⁸ Notwithstanding no devoted thing, that a man shall devote to the LORD of all that he has, both of man and beast, and of the field of his possession, shall be sold or redeemed: Every devoted thing is most holy to the LORD. ²⁹ None devoted, which shall be devoted of men, shall be redeemed; but shall surely be put to death. ³⁰ And all the tithe of the land, whether of the seed of the land, or of the fruit of the tree, is the LORD's: It is holy to the LORD. ³¹ And if a man will at all redeem ought of his tithes, he shall add thereto the fifth part of it. ³² And concerning the tithe of the herd, or of the flock, even of whatever passes under the rod, the tenth shall be holy to the LORD. ³³ He shall not search whether it be good or bad, neither shall he change it: And if he change it at all, then both it and its change shall be holy; it shall not be redeemed. ³⁴ These are the commandments, which the LORD commanded Moses for the children of Israel in Mount Sinai.

²¹ And behold, I have given the children of Levi all the tenth in Israel for an inheritance, for their service which they serve, even the service of the tabernacle of the congregation. ²² Neither must the children of Israel from now on come near the tabernacle of the congregation, lest they bear sin, and die. ²³ But the Levites shall do the service of the tabernacle of the congregation, and they shall bear their iniquity: It shall be a statute forever throughout your generations, that among the children of Israel they have no inheritance. ²⁴ But the tithes of the children of Israel, which they offer as a heave offering to the LORD, I have given to the Levites to inherit: Therefore I have said to them, "Among the children of Israel they shall have no inheritance. ²⁵ And the LORD spoke to Moses, saying, ²⁶ thus speak to the Levites, and say to them, When you take of the children of Israel the tithes which I have given you from them for your inheritance, then you shall offer up a heave offering of it for the LORD, even a tenth part of the tithe. ²⁷ And this your heave offering shall be reckoned to you, as though it were the grain of the threshing floor, and as the fullness of the winepress. ²⁸ Thus you also shall offer a heave offering to the LORD of all your tithes, which you receive of the children of Israel; and you shall give of it the LORD's heave offering to Aaron the priest. ²⁹ Out of all your gifts you shall offer every heave offering of the LORD, of all its best, even the hallowed part of it out of it. ³⁰ Therefore you shall say to them, When you have heaved its best from it, then it shall be counted to the Levites as the increase of the threshing floor, and as the increase of the winepress. ³¹ And you shall eat it in every place, you and your households: For it is your reward for your service in the tabernacle of the congregation. ³² And you shall bear no sin by reason of it, when you have heaved from it the best of it: Neither shall you pollute the holy things of the children of Israel, lest you die.

¹¹ Israel has sinned, and they have also transgressed My covenant which I commanded them: For they have even taken of the accursed thing, and have also stolen, and dissembled also, and they have put it even among their own stuff.

⁴ And before this, Eliashib the priest, having the oversight of the chamber of the house of our God, was allied to Tobiah: ⁵ And he had prepared for him a great chamber, where formerly they laid the food offerings, the frankincense, and the vessels, and the tithes of the grain, the new wine, and the oil, which was commanded to be given to the Levites, and the singers, and the porters; and the offerings of the priests. ⁶ But in all this time was not I at Jerusalem: For in the two and thirtieth year of Artaxerxes king of Babylon came I to the king, and after certain days obtained I leave of the king: ⁷ And I came to Jerusalem, and understood of the evil that Eliashib did for Tobiah, in preparing him a chamber in the courts of the house of God. ⁸ And it grieved me sore: Therefore I cast forth all the household stuff to Tobiah out of the chamber. ⁹ Then I commanded, and they cleansed the chambers: And thither brought I again the vessels of the house of God, with the food offering and the frankincense. ¹⁰ And I perceived that the portions of the Levites had not been given them: For the Levites and the singers, that did the work, were fled every one to his field. ¹¹ Then contended I with the rulers, and said, "Why is the house of God forsaken? And I gathered them together, and set them in their place. ¹² Then brought all Judah the tithe of the grain and the new wine and the oil to the treasuries. ¹³ And I made treasurers over the treasuries, Shelemiah the priest, and Zadok the scribe, and of the Levites, Pedaiah: And next to them was Hanan the son of Zaccur, the son of Mattaniah: For they were counted faithful, and their office was to distribute to their brothers. ¹⁴ Remember me, O my God, concerning this, and wipe not out my good deeds that I have done for the house of my God, and for its offices.

² Give to the LORD the glory due to His name; worship the LORD in the beauty of holiness.

⁹ Honor the LORD with your substance, and with the firstfruits of all your increase: ¹⁰ So shall your barns be filled with plenty, and your presses shall burst out with new wine.

⁸ And if you all offer the blind for sacrifice, is it not evil? And if you all offer the lame and sick, is it not evil? Offer it now to your governor; will he be pleased with you, or accept your person?", says the LORD of hosts.

¹³ You all also said, 'Behold, what a weariness it is!' And you all have snuffed at it", says the LORD of hosts; "and you all brought that which was torn, and the lame, and the sick; in this manner you all brought an offering: Should I accept this from your hand?", says the LORD.

²¹ They said to Him, "Caesar's." Then He said to them, "Render therefore to Caesar the things which are Caesar's; and to God the things that are God's."

¹⁷ And Jesus answering said to them, "Render to Caesar the things that are Caesar's, and to God the things that are God's." And they marveled at Him.

²⁵ And He said to them, "Render therefore to Caesar the things which are Caesar's, and to God the things that are God's."

²² You who say, "A man should not commit adultery", do you commit adultery? You who abhor idols, do you commit sacrilege?

⁷ Render therefore to all their dues: Tribute to whom tribute is due; customs to whom customs; fear to whom fear; honor to whom honor.

¹⁵ But it shall come to pass, if you will not hearken to the voice of the LORD your God, to observe to do all His commandments and His statutes which I command you this day; that all these curses shall come on you, and overtake you: ¹⁶ Cursed shall you be in the city, and cursed shall you be in the field. ¹⁷ Cursed shall be your basket and your store. ¹⁸ Cursed shall be the fruit of your body, and the fruit of your land, the increase of your cows, and the flocks of your sheep. ¹⁹ Cursed shall you be when you come in, and cursed shall you be when you go out.

¹² Therefore the children of Israel could not stand before their enemies, but turned their backs before their enemies, because they were accursed: Neither will I be with you any more, except you destroy the accursed from among you. ¹³ Up, sanctify the people, and say, "Sanctify yourselves against tomorrow: For thus says the LORD God of Israel, There is an accursed thing in the midst of you, O Israel: You cannot stand before your enemies, until you take away the accursed thing from among you.

²⁰ Did not Achan the son of Zerah commit a trespass in the accursed thing, and wrath fell on all the congregation of Israel? And that man perished not alone in his iniquity.

²⁸ Therefore I have profaned the princes of the sanctuary, and have given Jacob to the curse, and Israel to reproaches.

⁶ You all have sown much, and bring in little; all you eat, but you all do not have enough; all you drink, but you all are not filled with drink; all you clothe yourselves, but there are none warm; and he that earns wages earns wages to put it into a bag with holes." ⁷ Thus says the LORD of hosts; "Consider your ways. ⁸ Go up to the mountain, and bring wood, and build the house; and I will take pleasure in it, and I will be glorified", says the LORD. ⁹ "You all looked for much, and lo, it came to little; and when you all brought it home, I blew upon it. Why?" says the LORD of hosts. "Because of My house that is in waste, and all of you, every man, runs to his own house. ¹⁰ Therefore the heaven over you is kept back from dew, and the earth is kept back from her fruit. ¹¹ And I called for a drought upon the land, and upon the mountains, and upon the grain, and upon the new wine, and upon the oil, and upon that which the ground brings forth, and upon men, and upon domestic beasts, and upon all the labor of the hands."

¹⁴ Then Haggai answered, and said, " 'So is this people, and so is this nation before Me,' says the LORD; 'and so is every work of their hands; and that which they offer there is unclean. ¹⁵ And now, I implore you, consider from this day onward, from before a stone was laid upon a stone in the temple of the LORD: ¹⁶ Ever since those days, when one came to a heap of twenty measures, there were but only ten: When one came to the fat-press to draw out fifty vessels from the press, there were but only twenty.20 measures was equivalent to 9 gallons, 3 quarts; or approximately 36.9 liters ¹⁷ I smote you with blasting, and with mildew, and with hail in all the labors of your hands; yet you all have not turned to Me', says the LORD.

² If you all will not hear, and if you all will not lay it to heart, to give glory to My name", says the LORD of hosts, "I will even send a curse upon you, and I will curse your blessings: Yes, I have cursed them already, because you all do not lay it to heart.

¹¹ In the six hundredth year of Noah's life, in the second month, the seventeenth day of the month, the same day all the fountains of the great deep were broken up, and the windows of heaven were opened.

¹⁰ And you shall eat old store, and bring forth the old because of the new.

³⁰ And all the tithe of the land, whether of the seed of the land, or of the fruit of the tree, is the LORD's: It is holy to the LORD.

¹² The LORD shall open to you his good treasure, the heaven to give the rain to your land in his season, and to bless all the work of your hand: And you shall lend to many nations, and you shall not borrow.

¹³ And Elijah said to her, "Fear not; go and do as you have said: But make me of it a little cake first, and bring it to me, and after make for you and for your son. ¹⁴ For thus says the LORD God of Israel, The barrel of meal shall not waste, neither shall the jar of oil fail, until the day that the LORD sends rain on the earth. ¹⁵ And she went and did according to the saying of Elijah: And she, and he, and her house, ate many days. ¹⁶ And the barrel of meal wasted not, neither did the jar of oil fail, according to the word of the LORD, which he spoke by Elijah.

² Then a lord on whose hand the king leaned answered the man of God, and said, "Behold, if the LORD would make windows in heaven, might this thing be? And he said, "Behold, you shall see it with your eyes, but shall not eat of it.

¹⁹ And that lord answered the man of God, and said, "Now, behold, if the LORD should make windows in heaven, might such a thing be? And he said, "Behold, you shall see it with your eyes, but shall not eat of it.

²⁰ And of the Levites, Ahijah was over the treasures of the house of God, and over the treasures of the dedicated things.

⁴ Moreover he commanded the people that dwelled in Jerusalem to give the portion of the priests and the Levites, that they might be encouraged in the law of the LORD. ⁵ And as soon as the commandment came abroad, the children of Israel brought in abundance the firstfruits of grain, wine, and oil, and honey, and of all the increase of the field; and the tithe of all things brought they in abundantly. ⁶ And concerning the children of Israel and Judah, that dwelled in the cities of Judah, they also brought in the tithe of oxen and sheep, and the tithe of holy things which were consecrated to the LORD their God, and laid them by heaps. ⁷ In the third month they began to lay the foundation of the heaps, and finished them in the seventh month. ⁸ And when Hezekiah and the princes came and saw the heaps, they blessed the LORD, and his people Israel. ⁹ Then Hezekiah questioned with the priests and the Levites concerning the heaps. ¹⁰ And Azariah the chief priest of the house of Zadok answered him, and said, "Since the people began to bring the offerings into the house of the LORD, we have had enough to eat, and have left plenty: For the LORD has blessed his people; and that which is left is this great store. ¹¹ Then Hezekiah commanded to prepare chambers in the house of the LORD; and they prepared them, ¹² and brought in the offerings and the tithes and the dedicated things faithfully: Over which Cononiah the Levite was ruler, and Shimei his brother was the next. ¹³ And Jehiel, and Azaziah, and Nahath, and Asahel, and Jerimoth, and Jozabad, and Eliel, and Ismachiah, and Mahath, and Benaiah, were overseers under the hand of Cononiah and Shimei his brother, at the commandment of Hezekiah the king, and Azariah the ruler of the house of God. ¹⁴ And Kore the son of Imnah the Levite, the porter toward the east, was over the freewill offerings of God, to distribute the oblations of the LORD, and the most holy things. ¹⁵ And next him were Eden, and Miniamin, and Jeshua, and Shemaiah, Amariah, and Shecaniah, in the cities of the priests, in their set office, to give to their brothers by courses, as well to the great as to the small: ¹⁶ Beside their genealogy of males, from three years old and upward, even to everyone that enters into the house of the LORD, his daily portion for their service in their charges according to their courses; ¹⁷ both to the genealogy of the priests by the house of their fathers, and the Levites from twenty years old and upward, in their charges by their courses; ¹⁸ and to the genealogy of all their little ones, their wives, and their sons, and their daughters, through all the congregation: For in their set office they sanctified themselves in holiness: ¹⁹ Also of the sons of Aaron the priests, which were in the fields of the suburbs of their cities, in every several city, the men that were expressed by name, to give portions to all the males among the priests, and to all that were reckoned by genealogies among the Levites.

³³ for the show-bread, and for the continual food offering, and for the continual burnt offering, of the Sabbaths, of the new moons, for the set feasts, and for the holy things, and for the sin offerings to make an atonement for Israel, and for all the work of the house of our God. ³⁴ And we cast the lots among the priests, the Levites, and the people, for the wood offering, to bring it into the house of our God, after the houses of our fathers, at times appointed year by year, to burn on the altar of the LORD our God, as it is written in the law: ³⁵ And to bring the firstfruits of our ground, and the firstfruits of all fruit of all trees, year by year, to the house of the LORD: ³⁶ Also the firstborn of our sons, and of our domestic beasts, as it is written in the law, and the firstborn of our herds and of our flocks, to bring to the house of our God, to the priests that minister in the house of our God: ³⁷ And that we should bring the firstfruits of our dough, and our offerings, and the fruit of all manner of trees, of wine and of oil, to the priests, to the chambers of the house of our God; and the tithes of our ground to the Levites, that the same Levites might have the tithes in all the cities of our tillage. ³⁸ And the priest the son of Aaron shall be with the Levites, when the Levites take tithes: And the Levites shall bring up the tithe of the tithes to the house of our God, to the chambers, into the treasure house. ³⁹ For the children of Israel and the children of Levi shall bring the offering of the grain, of the new wine, and the oil, to the chambers, where are the vessels of the sanctuary, and the priests that minister, and the porters, and the singers: And we will not forsake the house of our God.

⁴⁴ And at that time were some appointed over the chambers for the treasures, for the offerings, for the firstfruits, and for the tithes, to gather into them out of the fields of the cities the portions of the law for the priests and Levites: For Judah rejoiced for the priests and for the Levites that waited.

⁴⁷ And all Israel in the days of Zerubbabel, and in the days of Nehemiah, gave the portions of the singers and the porters, every day his portion: And they sanctified holy things to the Levites; and the Levites sanctified them to the children of Aaron.

³ Trust in the LORD, and do good; so shall you dwell in the land, and truly you shall be fed.

³ If the clouds are full of rain, they empty themselves on the earth: And if the tree fall toward the south, or toward the north, in the place where the tree falls, there it shall be.

¹⁹ Is the seed still in the barn? Yes, as yet the vine, and the fig tree, and the pomegranate, and the olive tree have not brought forth: From this day forward I will bless you.' "

³³ But you, seek first the kingdom of God, and His righteousness; and all these things shall be added to you.

⁶ And when they had done this, they inclosed a great multitude of fish: And their net broke. ⁷ Therefore they beckoned to their partners, which were in the other ship, that they should come and help them. And they came, and filled both the ships, so that they began to sink.

¹⁶ Moreover He spoke a parable to them, saying, "The ground of a certain rich man brought forth plentifully: ¹⁷ And he thought within himself, saying, 'What shall I do, because I have no room where to stow my fruits?'

⁶ And He said to them, "Cast the net on the right side of the ship, and you shall find some." Therefore they casted, and now they were not able to draw it in because of the multitude of fish. ⁷ Therefore that disciple whom Jesus loved said to Peter, "It is the Lord." Now when Simon Peter heard that it was the Lord, he put on his fisherman's coat (for he was naked), and cast himself into the sea. ⁸ And the other disciples came in a little ship; (for they were not far from land, but about two hundred cubits), dragging the net with fish.200 Roman cubits is approximately 290 feet or 88.4 meters. ⁹ Then, as soon as they had come to land, they saw a fire of coals there, and fish laid upon it, and bread. ¹⁰ Jesus said to them, "Bring some of the fish which you have now caught." ¹¹ Simon Peter went up, and drew the net to land full of large fish, one hundred and fifty three: And although there were so many, yet the net was not broken.

⁶ But this I say, he which sows sparingly shall also reap sparingly; and he which sows bountifully shall also reap bountifully. ⁷ Let every man give according to as he purposes in his heart; not grudgingly, nor of necessity: For God loves a cheerful giver. ⁸ And God is able to make all grace abound toward you; that you, always having all sufficiency in all things, may abound to every good work:

¹⁴ that I will give you the rain of your land in his due season, the first rain and the latter rain, that you may gather in your grain, and your wine, and your oil.

¹³ "I will surely consume them", said the LORD: "there shall be no grapes on the vine, nor figs on the fig tree, and the leaf shall fade; and the things that I have given them shall pass away from them."

⁴ That which the palmerworm has left the locust has eaten; and that which the locust has left the cankerworm has eaten; and that which the cankerworm has left the caterpillar has eaten.

⁷ He has laid My vine waste, and barked My fig tree: He has made it entirely bare, and cast it away; its branches are made white.

¹² The vine is dried up, and the fig tree languishes; the pomegranate tree, the palm tree also, and the apple tree, even all the trees of the field, are withered: Because joy is withered away from the sons of men.

²⁰ But I will remove far off from you the northern army, and will drive him into a land barren and desolate, with his face toward the east sea, and his hinder part toward the utmost sea, and his stink shall come up, and his ill smell shall come up, because he has done great things.

²² Do not be afraid, you wild beasts of the field: For the pastures of the wilderness do spring, for the tree bears her fruit, the fig tree and the vine do yield their strength.

⁹ "I have smitten you with blasting and mildew: When your gardens and your vineyards and your fig trees and your olive trees increased, the palmerworm devoured them: Yet you have not returned to Me", says the LORD.

¹ Thus has the Lord GOD showed to me; and behold, He formed grasshoppers in the beginning of the shooting up of the latter growth; and lo, it was the latter growth after the king's mowings.grasshoppers; or, green worms ² And it came to pass, that when they had made an end of eating the grass of the land, then I said, "O Lord GOD, forgive, I beseech You: By whom shall Jacob arise? For he is small." ³ The LORD repented for this: "It shall not be", says the LORD.

¹⁷ Although the fig tree shall not blossom, neither shall fruit be in the vines; the labor of the olive shall fail, and the fields shall yield no food; the flock shall be cut off from the fold, and there shall be no herd in the stalls:

¹⁷ I smote you with blasting, and with mildew, and with hail in all the labors of your hands; yet you all have not turned to Me', says the LORD.

¹² 'For the seed shall be prosperous; the vine shall give her fruit, and the ground shall give her increase, and the heavens shall give their dew; and I will cause the remnant of this people to possess all these things.

⁶ Keep therefore and do them; for this is your wisdom and your understanding in the sight of the nations, which shall hear all these statutes, and say, "Surely this great nation is a wise and understanding people. ⁷ For what nation is there so great, who has God so near to them, as the LORD our God is in all things that we call on him for?

⁷ For the LORD your God brings you into a good land, a land of brooks of water, of fountains and depths that spring out of valleys and hills; ⁸ A land of wheat, and barley, and vines, and fig trees, and pomegranates; a land of olive oil, and honey; ⁹ A land in which you shall eat bread without scarceness, you shall not lack anything in it; a land whose stones are iron, and out of whose hills you may dig brass. ¹⁰ When you have eaten and are full, then you shall bless the LORD your God for the good land which he has given you.

¹² A land which the LORD your God cares for: The eyes of the LORD your God are always on it, from the beginning of the year even to the end of the year.

²³ And many brought gifts to the LORD to Jerusalem, and presents to Hezekiah king of Judah: So that he was magnified in the sight of all nations from thereafter.

¹⁷ His name shall endure forever: His name shall be continued as long as the sun: And men shall be blessed in Him: All nations shall call Him blessed.

⁹ And their seed shall be known among the Gentiles, and their offspring among the people: All who see them shall acknowledge them, that they are the seed which the LORD has blessed."

⁴ You shall no longer be termed Forsaken; neither shall your land any more be termed Desolate: But you shall be called Hephzibah, and your land Beulah: For the LORD delights in you, and your land shall be married.

⁹ And it shall be to Me a name of joy, a praise and an honor before all the nations of the earth, which shall hear all the good that I do to them: And they shall fear and tremble for all the goodness and for all the prosperity that I procure to it.'

⁹ And out of one of them came forth a little horn, which waxed exceedingly great, toward the south, and toward the east, and toward the pleasant land.

⁴¹ He shall also enter into the glorious land, and many countries shall be overthrown: But these shall escape out of his hand, even Edom, and Moab, and the chief of the children of Ammon.

¹⁹ Behold, at that time I will undo all those that afflict you: And I will save her that limps, and gather her that was driven out; and I will get them praise and fame in every land where they have been put to shame. ²⁰ At that time I will bring you back again, even in the time that I gather you: For I will make you a name and a praise among all people of the earth, when I turn back your captivity before your eyes", says the LORD.

²³ Thus says the LORD of hosts; 'In those days it shall come to pass, that ten men shall take hold out of all languages of the nations, even shall take hold of the skirt of him that is a Jew, saying, "We will go with you: For we have heard that God is with you."

⁴⁸ For He has regarded the lowly state of His handmaiden: For behold, from this time forward all generations shall call me blessed.

² And Pharaoh said, "Who is the LORD, that I should obey His voice to let Israel go? I do not know the LORD, neither will I let Israel go."

¹⁴ Who was there among all the gods of those nations that my fathers utterly destroyed, that could deliver his people out of my hand, that your God should be able to deliver you out of my hand? ¹⁵ Now therefore let not Hezekiah deceive you, nor persuade you on this manner, neither yet believe him: For no god of any nation or kingdom was able to deliver his people out of my hand, and out of the hand of my fathers: How much less shall your God deliver you out of my hand? ¹⁶ And his servants spoke yet more against the LORD God, and against his servant Hezekiah. ¹⁷ He wrote also letters to rail on the LORD God of Israel, and to speak against him, saying, "As the gods of the nations of other lands have not delivered their people out of my hand, so shall not the God of Hezekiah deliver his people out of my hand. ¹⁸ Then they cried out with a loud voice in the Jews' speech to the people of Jerusalem that were on the wall, to affright them, and to trouble them; that they might take the city. ¹⁹ And they spoke against the God of Jerusalem, as against the gods of the people of the earth, which were the work of the hands of man.

⁷ What man is like Job, who drinks up scorning like water? ⁸ Which goes in company with the workers of iniquity, and walks with wicked men.

⁸ Will you also cancel my judgment? Will you condemn me, that you may be righteous?

¹¹ He has said in his heart, "God has forgotten: He hides His face; He will never see it."

¹⁹ That say, "Let him make speed, and hasten his work, that we may see it: And let the counsel of the Holy One of Israel draw near and come, that we may know it!"

¹⁴ Why hear the word of the LORD, you scornful men, that rule this people who are in Jerusalem. ¹⁵ Because you have said, "We have made a covenant with death, and with hell we are in agreement; when the overflowing whip shall pass through, it shall not come to us: For we have made lies our refuge, and we have hid ourselves under falsehood:"

²³ Whom have you reproached and blasphemed? And against whom have you exalted your voice, and lifted up your eyes on high? Even against the Holy One of Israel.

¹² Were they ashamed when they had committed abomination? No, they were not at all ashamed, neither could they blush: Therefore they shall fall among those who fall: In the time of their visitation they shall be cast down", said the LORD.

⁶ "A son honors his father, and a servant his master: If then I am a father, where is My honor? And if I am a master, where is My fear?, says the LORD of hosts to you, O priests, that despise My name. And you all say, 'In what have we despised Your name?' ⁷ You all offer polluted bread upon My altar; and you all say, 'In what have we polluted You?' In that you all say, 'The table of the LORD is contemptible.' ⁸ And if you all offer the blind for sacrifice, is it not evil? And if you all offer the lame and sick, is it not evil? Offer it now to your governor; will he be pleased with you, or accept your person?", says the LORD of hosts.

⁸ Will a man rob God? Yet you all have robbed Me. But you all say, 'In what have we robbed You?' In tithes and offerings.

²⁰ No rather, O man, who are you that replies against God? Shall the thing formed say to him that formed it, "Why have you made me like this?"

⁴ who opposes and exalts himself above all that is called God, or that is worshiped; so that he sits as God in the temple of God, showing himself as though he is God.

¹⁴ Therefore they say to God, Depart from us; for we desire not the knowledge of your ways. ¹⁵ What is the Almighty, that we should serve him? And what profit should we have, if we pray to him?

¹⁷ Which said to God, "Depart from us: And what can the Almighty do for them?

⁹ For he has said, "It profits a man nothing that he should delight himself with God.

³ For you said, "What advantage will it be to you? And, What profit shall I have, if I be cleansed from my sin?

⁸ They are corrupt, and speak wickedly concerning oppression: They speak loftily. ⁹ They set their mouth against the heavens, and their tongue walks through the earth. ¹⁰ Therefore his people return here: And waters of a full cup are wrung out to them. ¹¹ And they say, "How does God know? And is there knowledge in the most High?" ¹² Behold, these are the ungodly, who prosper in the world; they increase in riches. ¹³ Truly I have cleansed my heart in vain, and washed my hands in innocence.

³ They say, 'Why have we fasted, and You do not see? Why have we afflicted our soul, and You do not take notice?' Behold, in the day of your fast you find pleasure, and compel all your labors.

¹² "Therefore now also," says the LORD, "turn even to Me with all your heart, and with fasting, and with weeping, and with mourning:

¹² And it shall come to pass at that time, that I will search Jerusalem with candles, and punish the men that are settled on their lees: That say in their heart, 'The LORD will not do good, neither will He do evil.'

³ and to speak to the priests which were in the house of the LORD of hosts, and to the prophets, saying, "Should I weep in the fifth month, separating myself, as I have done for so many years?" ⁴ Then the word of the LORD of hosts came to me, saying, ⁵ "Speak to all the people of the land, and to the priests, saying, 'When you all fasted and mourned in the fifth and seventh month, even those seventy years, did you all really fast to Me at all, even to Me? ⁶ And when you all ate, and when you all drank, did not all you eat for yourselves, and drink for yourselves?

⁹ Be afflicted, and mourn, and weep: Let your laughter be turned to mourning, and your joy to heaviness.

²² Because all those men which have seen my glory, and my miracles, which I did in Egypt and in the wilderness, and have tempted me now these ten times, and have not listened to my voice; ²³ surely they shall not see the land which I swore to their fathers, neither shall any of those that provoked me see it:

¹⁰ Nevertheless Haman refrained himself: And when he came home, he sent and called for his friends, and Zeresh his wife.

⁶ The tabernacles of robbers prosper, and those that provoke God are secure; into whose hand God brings abundantly.

⁷ Why do the wicked live, become old, yes, are mighty in power? ⁸ Their seed is established in their sight with them, and their offspring before their eyes. ⁹ Their houses are safe from fear, neither is the rod of God on them. ¹⁰ Their bull engenders, and fails not; their cow calves, and casts not her calf. ¹¹ They send forth their little ones like a flock, and their children dance. ¹² They take the tambourine and harp, and rejoice at the sound of the organ. ¹³ They spend their days in wealth, and in a moment go down to the grave.

³⁰ that the wicked is reserved to the day of destruction? They shall be brought forth to the day of wrath.

²³ If you return to the Almighty, you shall be built up, you shall put away iniquity far from your tabernacles.

³ For the wicked boasts of his heart's desire, and blesses the covetous, whom the LORD abhors.

¹⁸ Though while he lived he blessed his soul: And men will praise you when you do well to yourself.

¹² Behold, these are the ungodly, who prosper in the world; they increase in riches.

¹⁸ And they tempted God in their heart by asking meat for their lust.

⁴¹ Yes, they turned back and tempted God, and limited the Holy One of Israel.

⁵⁶ Yet they tempted and provoked the most high God, and did not keep His testimonies:

⁹ When your fathers tempted Me, proved Me, and saw My work.

¹⁴ But lusted exceedingly in the wilderness, and tempted God in the desert.

¹² The wicked desires the net of evil men: But the root of the righteous yields fruit.

¹ For I considered all this in my heart, even to declare all this, that the righteous, and the wise, and their works, are in the hand of God: No man knows either love or hatred by all that is before them. ² All things come alike to all: There is one event to the righteous, and to the wicked; to the good and to the clean, and to the unclean; to him that sacrifices, and to him that does not sacrifice: As is the good, so is the sinner; and he that swears, as he that fears an oath.

¹⁰ and come and stand before Me in this house, which is called by My name, and say, 'We are delivered to do all these abominations?'

¹ Righteous are You, O LORD, when I plead with You: Yet let me talk with You about your judgments: Why does the way of the wicked prosper? Why are they all happy who deal very treacherously? ² You have planted them, yes, they have taken root: They grow, yes, they bring forth fruit: You are near in their mouth, and far from their mind.

³⁰ The king spoke, and said, "Is not this great Babylon, that I have built for the house of the kingdom by the might of my power, and for the honor of my majesty?"

³⁷ Now I, Nebuchadnezzar, praise and extol and honor the King of heaven, all whose works are truth, and His ways judgment: And those who walk in pride He is able to abase.

²⁰ But when his heart was lifted up, and his mind hardened in pride, he was disposed from his kingly throne, and they took his glory from him: ²¹ And he was driven from the sons of men; and his heart was made like the beasts, and his dwelling was with the wild donkeys: They fed him with grass like oxen, and his body was wet with the dew of heaven; until he knew that the Most High God ruled in the kingdom of men, and that He appoints over it whomever He will. ²² And you his son, O Belshazzar, have not humbled your heart, though you knew all this; ²³ but have lifted up yourself against the Lord of heaven; and they have brought the vessels of His house before you, and you, and your lords, your wives, and your concubines, have drunk wine from them; and have praised the gods of silver and gold, of brass, iron, wood, and stone, which do not see, nor hear, nor know: And the God in Whose hand is your breath, and Whose are all your ways, you have not glorified: ²⁴ Then the part of the hand was sent from Him; and this writing was written. ²⁵ And this is the writing that was written: MENE, MENE, TEKEL, UPHARSIN. ²⁶ This is the interpretation of the thing: MENE; God has numbered your kingdom, and finished it. ²⁷ TEKEL; you are weighed in the balances, and are found wanting. ²⁸ PERES; your kingdom is divided, and given to the Medes and Persians."

¹⁶ Then the king commanded, and they brought Daniel, and cast him into the den of lions. Now the king spoke and said to Daniel, "Your God Whom you serve continually, He will deliver you."

¹³ You are of purer eyes than to behold evil, and cannot look on iniquity: Why do You look upon those that deal treacherously, and hold Your tongue when the wicked devours the man that is more righteous than he? ¹⁴ And make men as the fish of the sea, as the creeping things, that have no ruler over them? ¹⁵ They take all of them up with the hook, they catch them in their net, and gather them in their dragnet: Therefore they rejoice and are glad. ¹⁶ Therefore they sacrifice to their net, and burn incense to their dragnet; because by them their portion is fat, and their meat plenteous. ¹⁷ Shall they therefore empty their net, and not spare to continually slay the nations?

⁶ and said to Him, "If You are the Son of God, throw Yourself down: For it is written, 'He shall give His angels charge concerning You': And, 'in their hands they shall bear You up, lest at any time You dash Your foot against a stone.' " ⁷ Jesus said to him, "It is written again, 'You shall not tempt the LORD your God.' "

⁹ Then Peter said to her, "How is it that you have agreed together to tempt the Spirit of the Lord? Behold, the feet of those who have buried your husband are at the door, and they shall carry you out."

²¹ And on a set day Herod, arrayed in royal apparel, sat upon his throne, and made an oration to them.

⁹ Neither let us tempt Christ, as some of them also tempted, and were destroyed by serpents.

⁹ When your fathers tempted Me, proved Me, and saw My works forty years.

⁵ Likewise you younger ones, submit yourselves to the elder. Yes, all of you be subject to one another, and be clothed with humility: For "God resists the proud, but gives grace to the humble."

¹² And he said, "Do not lay your hand upon the lad, neither do anything to him: For now I know that you fear God, seeing you have not withheld your son, your only son from Me."

⁶ And these words, which I command you this day, shall be in your heart: ⁷ And you shall teach them diligently to your children, and shall talk of them when you sit in your house, and when you walk by the highway, and when you lie down, and when you rise up. ⁸ And you shall bind them for a sign on your hand, and they shall be as frontlets between your eyes.

¹⁶ And Saul's son Jonathan arose, and went into the woods to David, and strengthened his hand in God. ¹⁷ And he said to him, "Fear not: For the hand of Saul my father shall not find you; and you shall be king over Israel, and I shall be next to you; and my father Saul knows that also." ¹⁸ And the two of them made a covenant before the LORD: And David abode in the woods, and Jonathan went to his house.

¹ And it came to pass, when the king sat in his house, and the LORD had given him rest all around from all his enemies;

³ And Ahab called Obadiah, which was the governor of his house. (Now Obadiah feared the LORD greatly:

¹² And it shall come to pass, as soon as I am gone from you, that the Spirit of the LORD shall carry you where I do not know; and so when I come and tell Ahab, and he cannot find you, he shall slay me: But I your servant fear the LORD from my youth.

⁷ Now it was in the heart of David my father to build a house for the name of the LORD God of Israel.

²³ And when inquisition was made of the matter, it was found out; therefore they were both hanged on a tree: And it was written in the book of the chronicles before the king.

⁵ Then Esther called for Hatach, one of the king's chamberlains, whom he had appointed to attend upon her, and gave him a commandment to Mordecai, to know what it was, and why it was. ⁶ So Hatach went forth to Mordecai to the street of the city, which was before the king's gate. ⁷ And Mordecai told him of all that had happened to him, and of the sum of the money that Haman had promised to pay to the king's treasuries for the Jews, to destroy them. ⁸ Also he gave him the copy of the writing of the decree that was given at Shushan to destroy them, to show it to Esther, and to declare it to her, and to charge her that she should go in to the king, to make supplication to him, and to make request before him for her people. ⁹ And Hatach came and told Esther the words of Mordecai. ¹⁰ Again Esther spoke to Hatach, and gave him commandment to Mordecai; ¹¹ "All the king's servants, and the people of the king's provinces, do know, that whoever, whether man or women, shall come to the king into the inner court, who is not called, there is one law of his to put him to death, except such to whom the king shall hold out the golden scepter, that he may live: But I have not been called to come in to the king these thirty days." ¹² And they told Esther's words to Mordecai. ¹³ Then Mordecai commanded to answer Esther, "Do not think that you yourself shall escape in the king's house, more than all the Jews. ¹⁴ For if you altogether hold your peace at this time, then enlargement and deliverance shall arise to the Jews from another place; but you and your father's house shall be destroyed: And who knows whether you have come to the kingdom for such a time as this?" ¹⁵ Then Esther told them to return Mordecai this answer, ¹⁶ "Go, gather together all the Jews that are present in Shushan, and fast for me, and neither eat nor drink three days, night or day: I and my maidens will also fast likewise; and so I will go in to the king, which is not according to the law: And if I perish, I perish." ¹⁷ So Mordecai went his way, and did according to all that Esther had commanded him.

¹ On that night the king could not sleep, and he commanded to bring the book of records of the chronicles; and they were read before the king.

²³ Oh that my words were now written! Oh that they were printed in a book! ²⁴ That they were graven with an iron pen and lead in the rock forever! ²⁵ For I know that my redeemer lives, and that he shall stand at the latter day on the earth:

²⁸ And to man he said, "Behold, the fear of the LORD, that is wisdom; and to depart from evil is understanding.

⁴ The wicked, through the pride of his countenance, will not seek after God: God is not in all his thoughts.

³ but to the saints that are in the earth, and to the excellent, in whom is all my delight.

⁷ Some trust in chariots, and some in horses: But we will remember the name of the LORD our God.

¹⁸ Behold, the eye of the LORD is upon those that fear Him, upon them that hope in His mercy;

¹⁵ The eyes of the LORD are upon the righteous, and His ears are open to their cry.

⁸ You number my wanderings: You put my tears into Your bottle: Are they not in your book?

¹⁶ Come and hear, all You that fear God, and I will declare what He has done for my soul.

¹⁵ If I say, "I will speak thus"; behold, I should offend against the generation of your children. ¹⁶ When I thought to know this, it was too painful for me; ¹⁷ until I went into the sanctuary of God; then I understood their end.

¹⁹ In the multitude of my thoughts within me Your comforts delight my soul.

³³ I will sing to the LORD as long as I live: I will sing praise to my God while I have my being.

¹⁰ The fear of the LORD is the beginning of wisdom: A good understanding have all those who do His commandments: His praise endures forever.

⁶³ I am a companion of all those that fear You, and of those that keep Your precepts.

⁴ for there is not a word in my tongue, but lo, O LORD, You know it altogether.

¹¹ The LORD takes pleasure in those who fear Him, in those that hope in His mercy.

²⁰ He that walks with wise men shall be wise: But a companion of fools shall be destroyed.

³ You will keep him in perfect peace, whose mind is stayed on You: Because he trusts in You.

⁸ Yes, in the way of Your judgments, O LORD, we have waited for You; the desire of our soul is to Your name, and to the remembrance of You.

¹⁰ Who is among you that fears the LORD, that obeys the voice of His Servant, that walks in darkness, and has no light? Let him trust in the name of the LORD, and rely upon his God.

⁶ Behold, it is written before Me: I will not keep silence, but will recompense, even recompense into their bosom,

⁴ and the LORD said to him, "Go through the midst of the city, through the midst of Jerusalem, and set a mark on the foreheads of the men that sigh and who cry for all the abominations that are done in the midst of it."

¹⁷ Then Daniel went to his house, and made the matter known to Hananiah, Mishael, and Azariah, his companions: ¹⁸ That they would desire mercies from the God of heaven concerning this secret; that Daniel and his fellows should not perish with the rest of the wise men of Babylon.

¹⁰ A fiery stream issued and came out from before Him: Thousand thousands ministered to Him, and ten thousand times ten thousand stood before Him: The judgment was set, and the books were opened.

⁵ And I will come near to you to decree judgment; and I will be a swift witness against the sorcerers, and against the adulterers, and against false swearers, and against those that oppress the hireling in his wages, the widow, and the fatherless, and that turn aside the stranger from his rights, and do not fear Me", says the LORD of hosts.

² But to you that fear My name, the Sun of Righteousness shall arise with healing in His wings; and you all shall go forth, and grow up as calves of the stall.

³⁵ A good man out of the good treasure of the heart brings forth good things: And an evil man out of the evil treasure brings forth evil things. ³⁶ But I say to you that every idle word that men shall speak, they shall give account of it in the day of judgment. ³⁷ For by your words you shall be justified, and by your words you shall be condemned."

¹⁹ Again I say to you, That if two of you agree on earth concerning anything that they ask, it shall be done for them of My Father which is in heaven. ²⁰ For where two or three are gathered together in My name, there I am in the midst of them."

¹⁴ And they talked together of all these things which had happened. ¹⁵ And it came to pass, that while they communed together and reasoned, Jesus Himself drew near, and went with them. ¹⁶ But their eyes were held immovably that they should not know Him. ¹⁷ And He said to them, "What manner of communications are these that you have with one another as you walk, and are sad?" ¹⁸ And one of them, whose name was Cleopas, answering said to Him, "Are You only a stranger in Jerusalem, and have not known the things which have come to pass there in these days?" ¹⁹ And He said to them, "What things?" And they said to Him, "Concerning Jesus of Nazareth, which was a Prophet mighty in deed and word before God and all the people: ²⁰ And how the chief priests and our rulers delivered Him to be condemned to death, and have crucified Him. ²¹ But we trusted that it was He which should have redeemed Israel: And besides all this, today is the third day since these things were done. ²² Yes, and certain women also of our company made us astonished, who were at the sepulchre early; ²³ and when they did not find His body, they came saying that they had also seen a vision of angels, which said He was alive. ²⁴ And certain ones of them who were with us went to the sepulchre, and found it even as the women had said: But they did not see Him." ²⁵ Then He said to them, "O fools, and slow of heart to believe all that the prophets have spoken: ²⁶ Ought not Christ to have suffered these things, and to enter into His glory?" ²⁷ And beginning at Moses and all the prophets, He expounded to them in all the scriptures the things concerning Himself. ²⁸ Then they drew near to the village where they were going: And He made out as though He would have gone farther. ²⁹ But they constrained Him, saying, "Abide with us: For it is nearly evening, and the day is far spent." And He went in to tarry with them. ³⁰ And it came to pass, as He sat to eat with them, that He took bread, and blessed it, and broke it, and gave to them. ³¹ Now their eyes were opened, and they knew Him; and He vanished out of their sight.

⁴⁰ One of the two who heard John speak, and followed Him, was Andrew, Simon Peter's brother. ⁴¹ He first found his own brother Simon, and said to him, "We have found the Messiah", which is, being interpreted, the Christ. ⁴² And he brought him to Jesus. And when Jesus beheld him, He said, "You are Simon the son of Jonah: You shall be called Cephas", which is by interpretation: A stone. ⁴³ The following day Jesus went forth into Galilee, and found Philip, and said to him, "Follow Me." ⁴⁴ Now Philip was of Bethsaida, the city of Andrew and Peter. ⁴⁵ Philip found Nathanael, and said to him, "We have found Him, of whom Moses in the law, and the prophets, wrote, Jesus of Nazareth, the son of Joseph." ⁴⁶ And Nathanael said to him, "Can any good thing come out of Nazareth?" Philip said to him, "Come and see." ⁴⁷ Jesus saw Nathanael coming to Him, and said of him, "Behold an Israelite indeed, in whom is no guile!"

²⁰ Now there were certain Greeks among them that came up to worship at the feast: ²¹ The same then came to Philip, who was from Bethsaida of Galilee, and implored him, saying, "Sir, we would like to see Jesus." ²² Philip came and told Andrew; and in turn Andrew and Philip told Jesus.

¹³ And when they had come in, they ascended into an upper room where Peter, James, John, Andrew, Philip, Thomas, Bartholomew, Matthew, James the son of Alphaeus, Simon Zelotes, and Judas the brother of James abode.

¹ And when the Day of Pentecost fully came, they were all with one accord in one place.

²³ And being let go, they went to their own company, and reported all that the chief priests and elders had said to them. ²⁴ And when they heard that, they lifted up their voice to God with one accord, and said, "Lord, You are God, which has made heaven, and earth, and the sea, and all that is in them: ²⁵ Who by the mouth of Your servant David has said, 'Why did the heathen rage, and the people imagine vain things? ²⁶ The kings of the earth stood up, and the rulers were gathered together against the LORD, and against His Christ.' ²⁷ "For truly against Your holy Child Jesus, whom You have anointed, both Herod, and Pontius Pilate, with the Gentiles, and the people of Israel, were gathered together, ²⁸ to do whatever Your hand and Your counsel determined beforehand to be done. ²⁹ And now Lord, behold their threats: And grant to Your servants, that with all boldness they may speak Your word, ³⁰ by stretching forth Your hand to heal; and that signs and wonders may be done by the name of Your holy Child Jesus." ³¹ And when they had prayed, the place where they were assembled together was shaken; and they were all filled with the Holy Spirit, and they spoke the Word of God with boldness. ³² Moreover the multitude of those that believed were of one heart and of one soul: Neither did any of them say that the things which he possessed was his own; but they had all things in common. ³³ And with great power the apostles gave witness of the resurrection of the Lord Jesus: And great grace was upon them all.

³¹ Then the churches had rest throughout all Judea, Galilee, and Samaria, and were edified; and walking in the fear of the Lord, and in the comfort of the Holy Spirit, were multiplied.

² a devout man, and one that feared God with all his household, who gave many charitable alms to the people, and prayed to God always.

¹⁹ speaking to yourselves in psalms and hymns and spiritual songs, singing and making melody in your heart to the Lord;

¹¹ Therefore comfort yourselves together, and edify one another, even as also you do.

¹⁴ Now we exhort you, brethren, warn those that are unruly, comfort the feebleminded, support the weak, be patient toward all men.

¹³ But exhort one another daily, while it is called "Today"; lest any of you be hardened through the deceitfulness of sin.

¹² For the Word of God is lively, and powerful, and sharper than any two-edged sword, piercing even to the dividing apart of soul and spirit, and of the joints and marrow, and is a discerner of the thoughts and intents of the heart. ¹³ Neither is there any creature that is not manifest in His sight: But all things are naked and uncovered to the eyes of Him with Whom we have to give account.

²⁴ and let us consider one another to provoke us to love and to good works:

¹⁵ Looking diligently lest any man be destitute of the grace of God; lest any root of bitterness springing up trouble you, and by this many are defiled;

⁴ Who shall not fear You, O Lord, and glorify Your name? For only You are holy: For all nations shall come and worship before You; for Your judgments are made manifest."

¹² And I saw the dead, small and great, stand before God; and the books were opened: And another book was opened, which is the Book of Life: And the dead were judged out of those things which were written in the books, according to their works.

⁵ Now therefore, if you will indeed obey My voice, and keep My covenant, then you shall be a peculiar treasure to Me above all people: For all the earth is Mine:

⁶ For you are a holy people to the LORD your God: The LORD your God has chosen you to be a special people to himself, above all people that are on the face of the earth.

² For you are a holy people to the LORD your God, and the LORD has chosen you to be a peculiar people to himself, above all the nations that are on the earth.

¹⁷ You have avouched the LORD this day to be your God, and to walk in his ways, and to keep his statutes, and his commandments, and his judgments, and to listen to his voice: ¹⁸ And the LORD has avouched you this day to be his peculiar people, as he has promised you, and that you should keep all his commandments;

²² And I commanded the Levites that they should cleanse themselves, and that they should come and keep the gates, to sanctify the Sabbath day. Remember me, O my God, concerning this also, and spare me according to the greatness of your mercy.

⁸ The LORD is merciful and gracious, slow to anger, and abundant in mercy. ⁹ He will not always chide, nor will He keep His anger forever. ¹⁰ He has not dealt with us according to our sins; nor rewarded us according to our iniquities. ¹¹ For as the heaven is high above the earth, so great is His mercy toward those who fear Him. ¹² As far as the east is from the west, so far has He removed our transgressions from us. ¹³ As a father pities his children, so the LORD pities those who fear Him.

⁴ For the LORD has chosen Jacob to Himself, and Israel for His peculiar treasure.

¹⁶ My beloved is mine, and I am his: He feeds among the lilies.

²⁰ Come, My people, enter into your chambers, and shut your doors behind you: Hide yourself as it were for a little moment, until the indignation pass over. ²¹ For, behold, the LORD comes out of His place to punish the inhabitants of the earth for their iniquity: The earth also shall disclose her blood, and will no longer cover her slain.

³ You shall also be a crown of glory in the hand of the LORD, and a royal diadem in the hand of your God. ⁴ You shall no longer be termed Forsaken; neither shall your land any more be termed Desolate: But you shall be called Hephzibah, and your land Beulah: For the LORD delights in you, and your land shall be married.

²⁰ Is Ephraim my dear son? Is he a pleasant child? For since I spoke against him, I earnestly do remember him still: Therefore My bowels are troubled for him; I will surely have mercy on him", said the LORD.

³³ "But this shall be the covenant that I will make with the house of Israel; After those days", said the LORD, "I will put My law in their inward parts, and write it in their hearts; and will be their God, and they shall be My people.

³⁸ And they shall be My people, and I will be their God: ³⁹ And I will give them one heart, and one way, that they may fear Me forever, for the good of them, and of their children after them:

⁸ Now when I passed by you, and looked on you, behold, your time was the time of love; and I spread my skirt over you, and covered your nakedness: Yes, I swore to you, and entered into a covenant with you", said the Lord GOD, "and you became Mine.

²⁷ And I will put My spirit within you, and cause you to walk in My statutes, and you shall keep My judgments, and do them. ²⁸ And you shall dwell in the land that I gave to your fathers; and you shall be My people, and I will be your God.

² before the decree is brought forth, before the day passes as the chaff, before the fierce anger of the LORD comes upon you, before the day of the LORD's anger comes upon you.

³⁴ Then the King shall say to those on His right hand, 'Come, you blessed of My Father, inherit the kingdom prepared for you from the foundation of the world:

²⁷ My sheep hear My voice, and I know them, and they follow Me: ²⁸ And I give them eternal life; and they shall never perish, neither shall any man pluck them out of My hand. ²⁹ My Father, which gave them to Me, is greater than all; and no man is able to pluck them out of My Father's hand. ³⁰ I and My Father are one."

⁹ I pray for them: I do not pray for the world, but for those whom You have given Me; for they are Yours. ¹⁰ And all Mine are Yours, and Yours are Mine; and I am glorified in them.

²⁴ Father, I will that those whom You have given Me are also with Me where I am; that they may behold My glory, which You have given Me: For You loved Me before the foundation of the world.

³² He that did not spare His own Son, but delivered Him up for us all, how shall He not together with Him also freely give us all things?

²² whether Paul, or Apollos, or Cephas, or the world, or life, or death, or things present, or things to come; all are yours; ²³ and you are Christ's; and Christ is God's.

²⁰ For you are bought at a price: Therefore glorify God in your body, and in your spirit, which are God's.

²³ But every man in his own order: Christ the firstfruits; afterward those that are Christ's at His coming.

¹⁸ "And will be a Father to you, and you shall be My sons and daughters, says the Lord Almighty."

²⁴ And those that are Christ's have crucified the flesh with the affections and lusts.

⁷ and to you who are troubled, rest with us; when the Lord Jesus shall be revealed from heaven with His mighty angels, ⁸ in flaming fire taking vengeance on those that do not know God, and that do not obey the gospel of our Lord Jesus Christ: ⁹ Who shall be punished with everlasting destruction from the presence of the Lord, and from the glory of His power; ¹⁰ when He shall come to be glorified in His saints, and to be admired in all those that believe (because our testimony among you was believed) in that day.

¹³ Therefore gird up the loins of your mind, be sober, and hope to the end for the grace that is to be brought to you at the revelation of Jesus Christ; ¹⁴ as obedient children, not fashioning yourselves according to the former lusts in your ignorance: ¹⁵ But as He which has called you is holy, so likewise you be holy in all manner of conversation; ¹⁶ because it is written, "Be holy; for I am holy."

¹ Behold, what manner of love the Father has bestowed upon us, that we should be called the sons of God: Therefore the world does not know us, because it did not know Him. ² Beloved, now we are the sons of God, and it does not yet appear what we shall be: But we know that when He appears, we shall be like Him; for we shall see Him as He is. ³ And every man that has this hope in Him purifies himself, even as He is pure.

¹² And I saw the dead, small and great, stand before God; and the books were opened: And another book was opened, which is the Book of Life: And the dead were judged out of those things which were written in the books, according to their works. ¹³ And the sea gave up the dead which were in it; and death and hell delivered up the dead that were in them: And they were judged, every man according to their works. ¹⁴ Then death and hell were cast into the lake of fire. This is the second death. ¹⁵ And whoever was not found written in the Book of Life was cast into the lake of fire.

²⁵ Far be it from You to do hurt in this manner, to slay the righteous with the wicked: And that the righteous should be as the wicked, far be it from You: Shall the Judge of all the earth not do right?"

¹⁵ And if it seem evil to you to serve the LORD, choose this day whom you will serve; whether the gods which your fathers served that were on the other side of the flood, or the gods of the Amorites, in whose land you dwell: But as for me and my house, we will serve the LORD.

²⁹ Return, I implore you, let it not be iniquity; yes, return again, my righteousness is in it.

¹⁰ But as for you all, do you return, and come now: For I cannot find one wise man among you.

¹⁰ The righteous shall rejoice when he sees the vengeance: He shall wash his feet in the blood of the wicked. ¹¹ So that a man shall say, "Truly there is a reward for the righteous: Truly He is a God that judges in the earth."

¹⁰ Say to the righteous, that it shall be well with him: For they shall eat the fruit of their doings. ¹¹ Woe to the wicked! It shall be ill with him: For the reward of his hands shall be given him.

¹⁵ And it shall come to pass, after I have plucked them out that I will return, and have compassion on them, and will bring them again, every man to his heritage, and every man to his land.

¹⁷ If that is the case, our God Whom we serve is able to deliver us from the burning fiery furnace, and He will deliver us out of your hand, O king. ¹⁸ But if not, let it be known to you, O king, that we will not serve your gods nor worship the golden image which you have set up." ¹⁹ Then Nebuchadnezzar was full of fury, and the expression of his face was changed against Shadrach, Meshach, and Abednego: Therefore he spoke, and commanded that they should heat the furnace seven times more than it was usually heated. ²⁰ And he commanded the most mighty men that were in his army to bind Shadrach, Meshach, and Abednego, and to cast them into the burning fiery furnace. ²¹ Then these men were bound in their coats, their trousers, and their hats, and their other garments, and were cast into the midst of the burning fiery furnace. ²² Therefore because the king's commandment was urgent, and the furnace exceedingly hot, the flame of the fire slew those men who took up Shadrach, Meshach, and Abednego. ²³ And these three men, Shadrach, Meshach, and Abednego, fell down bound into the midst of the burning fiery furnace. ²⁴ Then Nebuchadnezzar the king was astonished, and rose up in haste, and spoke, and said to his counselors, "Did we not cast three men bound into the midst of the fire?" They answered and said to the king, "True, O king." ²⁵ He answered and said, "Look, I see four men loose, walking in the midst of the fire, and they are not hurt; and the form of the fourth is like the Son of God." ²⁶ Then Nebuchadnezzar came near to the mouth of the burning fiery furnace, and spoke, and said, "Shadrach, Meshach, and Abednego, servants of the Most High God, come out, and come here." Then Shadrach, Meshach, and Abednego came out of the midst of the fire.

¹ "And at that time Michael shall stand up, the great prince which stands for the children of your people: And there shall be a time of trouble, such as never was since there was a nation even to that same time: And at that time your people shall be delivered, everyone that shall be found written in the book. ² And many of those that sleep in the dust of the earth shall awake, some to everlasting life, and some to shame and everlasting contempt. ³ And those who are wise shall shine as the brightness of the firmament; and those who turn many to righteousness as the stars forever and ever.

¹⁴ Who knows if he will return and repent, and leave a blessing behind him; even a food offering and a drink offering to the LORD your God?"

⁶ But My words and My statutes, which I commanded My servants the prophets, did they not take hold of your fathers? And they returned and said, 'As the LORD of hosts thought to do to us, according to our ways, and according to our doings, in this manner He has dealt with us.' "

⁴ Yet when Edom says, "We are impoverished, but we will return and build the desolate places"; thus says the LORD of hosts, "They shall build, but I will throw down; and they shall call them, 'The border of wickedness', and, 'The people against whom the LORD has indignation forever.'

¹⁴ You all have said, 'It is vain to serve God: And what profit is it that we have kept His ordinance, and that we have walked mournfully before the LORD of hosts? ¹⁵ And now we call the proud happy; yes, those that work wickedness are established; yes, those that tempt God are even delivered.' "

⁴⁶ And these shall go away into everlasting punishment: But the righteous into life eternal."

²⁶ If anyone serves Me, let him follow Me; and where I am, there My servant shall also be: If anyone serves Me, My Father will honor him.

¹⁷ The same followed Paul and us, and cried out saying, "These men are the servants of the Most High God, which show to us the way of salvation."

²³ For there stood by me this night the angel of God, whose I am, and whom I serve,

⁹ For God is my witness, whom I serve with my spirit in the gospel of His Son, that without ceasing I make mention of you always in my prayers;

⁵ But according to your hardness and impenitent heart you treasure up for yourself wrath against the day of wrath and revelation of the righteous judgment of God; ⁶ who "will render to every man according to his deeds":

⁹ For they themselves bring word to us regarding what manner of entering in we had used among you, and how you turned to God from idols to serve the living and true God;

⁵ Which are a clearly apparent token of the righteous judgment of God, that you may be counted worthy of the kingdom of God, for which you also suffer: ⁶ Seeing it is a righteous thing with God to recompense tribulation to those that trouble you;
