¹⁴ And when He came to His disciples, He saw a large multitude around them, and the scribes questioning with them.

¹⁴ And when they had come to the multitude, a certain man came to Him, kneeling down to Him, and saying, ¹⁵ "Lord, have mercy on my son, for he is a lunatic, and sorely vexed: For he often falls into the fire, and often into the water. ¹⁶ And I brought him to Your disciples, but they could not cure him." ¹⁷ Then Jesus answered and said, "O faithless and perverse generation, how long shall I be with you? How long shall I endure you? Bring him here to Me." ¹⁸ And Jesus rebuked the devil; and he departed out of him: And the child was cured from that very hour. ¹⁹ Then the disciples came to Jesus apart, and said, "Why could we not cast him out?" ²⁰ And Jesus said to them, "Because of your unbelief: For truly I say to you, If you have faith as a grain of mustard seed, you shall say to this mountain, 'Remove from here to yonder place'; and it shall move; and nothing shall be impossible to you.

⁶ But there were certain ones of the scribes sitting there, and reasoning in their hearts,

²⁸ And they said to Him, "By what authority do you do these things? And who gave You this authority to do these things?"

¹⁴ Moreover when they had come, they said to Him, "Master, we know that You are true, and revere no man; for You do not regard the person of men, but teach the way of God in truth: Is it lawful to give tribute to Caesar, or not?

³⁷ And it came to pass on the next day, when they had come down from the hill, a great many people met Him. ³⁸ And behold, a man from the multitude cried out, saying, "Master, I beseech You, look upon my son: For he is my only child. ³⁹ And look, a spirit takes him, and he suddenly cries out; and it tears him that he foams afterward, and bruising him it harshly departs from him. ⁴⁰ Therefore I implored Your disciples to cast it out; but they could not." ⁴¹ And Jesus answering said, "O faithless and perverse generation, how long shall I be with you, and bear with you? Bring your son here." ⁴² And as he was still coming, the devil threw him down, and tore him. Now Jesus rebuked the unclean spirit, healed the child, and delivered him again to his father.

⁵³ And as He said these things to them, the scribes and the Pharisees began to quarrel against Him vehemently, and to provoke Him to speak of many things: ⁵⁴ Lying in wait for Him, and seeking to catch something out of His mouth, that they might accuse Him.

³ For consider Him that endured such contradiction from sinners against Himself, lest you be wearied and faint in your minds.
