⁴⁰ On these two commandments hang all the Law and the prophets."

¹² Therefore, everything you would like that men do to you, you even do so to them: For this is the Law and the prophets.

¹⁷ For the law was given by Moses, but grace and truth came by Jesus Christ.

¹⁹ Now we know that whatever things the law says, it says to those who are under the law: That every mouth may be stopped, and all the world may become guilty before God. ²⁰ Therefore by the deeds of the law no flesh shall be justified in His sight: For by the law is the knowledge of sin. ²¹ But now the righteousness of God without the law is manifested, being witnessed by the Law and the prophets;

⁹ For these, "You shall not commit adultery", "You shall not kill", "You shall not steal", "You shall not bear false witness", "You shall not covet"; and if there is any other commandment, it is concisely understood by this saying, namely, "You shall love your neighbor as yourself."

⁵ Now the end purpose of the commandment is love out of a pure heart, and from a good conscience, and from sincere faith without hypocrisy:

⁸ If you fulfill the royal law according to the scripture, "You shall love your neighbor as yourself", you do well:

⁷ Beloved, let us love one another: For love is of God; and everyone that loves is born of God, and knows God. ⁸ He that does not love does not know God; for God is love. ⁹ In this the love of God was manifested toward us, in how God sent His only begotten Son into the world, that we might live through Him. ¹⁰ In this is love, not that we loved God, but that He loved us, and sent His Son to be the propitiation for our sins. ¹¹ Beloved, if God so loved us, we ought to also love one another.

¹⁹ We love Him, because He first loved us. ²⁰ If any man says, "I love God", and hates his brother, he is a liar: For he that does not love his brother whom he has seen, how can he love God whom he has not seen? ²¹ And this commandment we have from Him, that he who loves God love his brother also.
