¹⁰ And then many shall be offended, and shall betray one another, and shall hate one another.

⁵ Do not trust in a friend, do not put your confidence in a guide: Keep the doors of your mouth from her that lies in your bosom. ⁶ For the son dishonors the father, the daughter rises up against her mother, the daughter-in-law against her mother-in-law; a man's enemies are the men of his own house.

²¹ And the brother shall deliver up the brother to death, and the father the child: And the children shall rise up against their parents, and cause them to be put to death.

³⁵ For I have come to 'set a man at variance against his father, and the daughter against her mother, and the daughter-in-law against her mother-in-law.' ³⁶ And 'a man's foes shall be those of his own household.'

⁶ And blessed is he who shall not be offended in Me."

²¹ yet he has no root in himself, but endures for a while: Then when tribulation or persecution arises because of the word, immediately he is offended.

⁵⁷ And they were offended at Him. But Jesus said to them, "A prophet is not without honor, except in his own country, and in his own house."

²¹ And as they were eating, He said, "Truly I say to you, That one of you shall betray me." ²² And they were exceedingly sorrowful, and every one of them began to say to Him, "Lord, is it I?" ²³ And He answered and said, "He who dips his hand with Me in the dish, the same shall betray Me. ²⁴ The Son of Man goes as it is written of Him; but woe to that man by whom the Son of Man is betrayed! It would have been good for that man if he had not been born."

³¹ Then Jesus said to them, "All of you shall be offended because of Me this night: For it is written, 'I will smite the Shepherd, and the sheep of the flock shall be scattered abroad.' ³² But after I am risen again, I will go before you into Galilee." ³³ Peter answered and said to Him, "Though all men shall be offended because of You, yet I will never be offended." ³⁴ Jesus said to him, "Truly I say to you, That this night, before the rooster crows, you shall deny Me three times."

¹⁷ but have no root in themselves, and so endure only for a time: Afterward, when affliction or persecution arises for the word's sake, immediately they are offended.

⁶⁶ From that time many of His disciples went back, and no longer walked with Him. ⁶⁷ Then Jesus said to the twelve, "Will you also go away?"
