¹⁹ For we will not inherit with them on yonder side of the Jordan, or forward; because our inheritance is fallen to us on this side of the Jordan eastward.

¹⁰ And Lot lifted up his eyes, and beheld all the plain of the Jordan river, that it was well watered everywhere, before the LORD destroyed Sodom and Gomorrah, even as the garden of the LORD, like the land of Egypt, as you come to Zoar. ¹¹ Then Lot chose for himself all the plain of the Jordan river; and Lot journeyed east: And they separated themselves from each other. ¹² Abram dwelled in the land of Canaan, and Lot dwelled in the cities of the plain, and pitched his tent toward Sodom.

¹² And they took Lot, Abram's brother's son, who dwelled in Sodom, and his goods, and departed.

³² We will pass over armed before the LORD into the land of Canaan, that the possession of our inheritance on this side of the Jordan may be ours. ³³ And Moses gave to them, even to the children of Gad, and to the children of Reuben, and to half the tribe of Manasseh the son of Joseph, the kingdom of Sihon king of the Amorites, and the kingdom of Og king of Bashan, the land, with its cities in the coasts, even the cities of the country all around.

¹⁵ The two tribes and the half tribe have received their inheritance on this side of the Jordan near Jericho eastward, toward the sun rise.

¹⁴ Your wives, your little ones, and your domestic beasts, shall remain in the land which Moses gave you on this side of the Jordan; but you shall pass before your brothers armed, all the mighty men of valor, and help them; ¹⁵ until the LORD have given your brothers rest, as he has given you, and they also have possessed the land which the LORD your God gives them: Then you shall return to the land of your possession, and enjoy it, which Moses the LORD's servant gave you on this side of the Jordan toward the sun rise.

¹ Now these are the kings of the land, which the children of Israel smote, and possessed their land on the other side of the Jordan toward the rising of the sun, from the river Arnon to Mount Hermon, and all the plain on the east: ² Sihon king of the Amorites, who dwelled in Heshbon, and ruled from Aroer, which is on the bank of the river Arnon, and from the middle of the river, and from half Gilead, even to the river Jabbok, which is the border of the children of Ammon; ³ and from the plain to the sea of Chinneroth on the east, and to the sea of the plain, even the salt sea on the east, the way to Bethjeshimoth; and from the south, under Ashdothpisgah: ⁴ And the border of Og king of Bashan, which was of the remnant of the giants, that dwelled at Ashtaroth and at Edrei, ⁵ and reigned in Mount Hermon, and in Salcah, and in all Bashan, to the border of the Geshurites and the Maachathites, and half Gilead, the border of Sihon king of Heshbon. ⁶ Them did Moses the servant of the LORD and the children of Israel smite: And Moses the servant of the LORD gave it for a possession to the Reubenites, and the Gadites, and the half tribe of Manasseh.

⁸ with whom the Reubenites and the Gadites have received their inheritance, which Moses gave them, beyond the Jordan eastward, even as Moses the servant of the LORD gave them;

³² In those days the LORD began to cut Israel short: And Hazael smote them in all the borders of Israel; ³³ from Jordan eastward, all the land of Gilead, the Gadites, and the Reubenites, and the Manassites, from Aroer, which is by the river Arnon, even Gilead and Bashan.

²⁹ In the days of Pekah king of Israel came Tiglathpileser king of Assyria, and took Ijon, and Abelbethmaachah, and Janoah, and Kedesh, and Hazor, and Gilead, and Galilee, all the land of Naphtali, and carried them captive to Assyria.

²⁵ And they transgressed against the God of their fathers, and went a whoring after the gods of the people of the land, whom God destroyed before them. ²⁶ And the God of Israel stirred up the spirit of Pul king of Assyria, and the spirit of Tilgathpilneser king of Assyria, and he carried them away, even the Reubenites, and the Gadites, and the half tribe of Manasseh, and brought them to Halah, and Habor, and Hara, and to the river Gozan, to this day.

²¹ An inheritance may be obtained hastily at the beginning; but the end of it shall not be blessed.
