⁴⁶ And Joseph was thirty years old when he stood before Pharaoh king of Egypt. And Joseph went out from the presence of Pharaoh, and went throughout all the land of Egypt.

⁹ Seems it but a small thing to you, that the God of Israel has separated you from the congregation of Israel, to bring you near to himself to do the service of the tabernacle of the LORD, and to stand before the congregation to minister to them?

⁴ And the seventh year Jehoiada sent and fetched the rulers over hundreds, with the captains and the guard, and brought them to him into the house of the LORD, and made a covenant with them, and took an oath of them in the house of the LORD, and showed them the king's son. ⁵ And he commanded them, saying, "This is the thing that you shall do; A third part of you that enter in on the Sabbath shall even be keepers of the watch of the king's house; ⁶ and a third part shall be at the gate of Sur; and a third part at the gate behind the guard: So shall you keep the watch of the house, that it be not broken down. ⁷ And two parts of all you that go forth on the Sabbath, even they shall keep the watch of the house of the LORD about the king. ⁸ And you shall compass the king all around, every man with his weapons in his hand: And he that comes within the ranges, let him be slain: And be you with the king as he goes out and as he comes in. ⁹ And the captains over the hundreds did according to all things that Jehoiada the priest commanded: And they took every man his men that were to come in on the Sabbath, with those that should go out on the Sabbath, and came to Jehoiada the priest. ¹⁰ And to the captains over hundreds did the priest give king David's spears and shields, that were in the temple of the LORD. ¹¹ And the guard stood, every man with his weapons in his hand, all around the king, from the right corner of the temple to the left corner of the temple, along by the altar and the temple. ¹² And he brought forth the king's son, and put the crown on him, and gave him the testimony; and they made him king, and anointed him; and they clapped their hands, and said, "God save the king.

⁴⁸ Their brothers also the Levites were appointed to all manner of service of the tabernacle of the house of God.

³ Now the Levites were numbered from the age of thirty years and upward: And their number by their polls, man by man, was thirty and eight thousand. ⁴ Of which, twenty and four thousand were to set forward the work of the house of the LORD; and six thousand were officers and judges: ⁵ Moreover four thousand were porters; and four thousand praised the LORD with the instruments which I made, said David, to praise therewith.

²⁴ These were the sons of Levi after the house of their fathers; even the chief of the fathers, as they were counted by number of names by their polls, that did the work for the service of the house of the LORD, from the age of twenty years and upward. ²⁵ For David said, "The LORD God of Israel has given rest to his people, that they may dwell in Jerusalem forever: ²⁶ And also to the Levites; they shall no more carry the tabernacle, nor any vessels of it for its service. ²⁷ For by the last words of David the Levites were numbered from twenty years old and above: ²⁸ Because their office was to wait on the sons of Aaron for the service of the house of the LORD, in the courts, and in the chambers, and in the purifying of all holy things, and the work of the service of the house of God; ²⁹ both for the show-bread, and for the fine flour for food offering, and for the unleavened cakes, and for that which is baked in the pan, and for that which is fried, and for all manner of measure and size; ³⁰ and to stand every morning to thank and praise the LORD, and likewise at sunset: ³¹ And to offer all burnt sacrifices to the LORD on the Sabbaths, in the new moons, and on the set feasts, by number, according to the order commanded to them, continually before the LORD: ³² And that they should keep the charge of the tabernacle of the congregation, and the charge of the holy place, and the charge of the sons of Aaron their brothers, in the service of the house of the LORD.

¹² and the pattern of all that he had by the spirit, of the courts of the house of the LORD, and of all the chambers all around, of the treasuries of the house of God, and of the treasuries of the dedicated things: ¹³ Also for the courses of the priests and the Levites, and for all the work of the service of the house of the LORD, and for all the vessels of service in the house of the LORD.

And he said to them, "Behold, the king's son shall reign, as the LORD has said of the sons of David. ⁴ This is the thing that you shall do; A third part of you entering on the Sabbath, of the priests and of the Levites, shall be porters of the doors; ⁵ and a third part shall be at the king's house; and a third part at the gate of the foundation: And all the people shall be in the courts of the house of the LORD. ⁶ But let none come into the house of the LORD, save the priests, and those that minister of the Levites; they shall go in, for they are holy: But all the people shall keep the watch of the LORD. ⁷ And the Levites shall compass the king all around, every man with his weapons in his hand; and whoever else comes into the house, he shall be put to death: But be you with the king when he comes in, and when he goes out. ⁸ So the Levites and all Judah did according to all things that Jehoiada the priest had commanded, and took every man his men that were to come in on the Sabbath, with those that were to go out on the Sabbath: For Jehoiada the priest dismissed not the courses. ⁹ Moreover Jehoiada the priest delivered to the captains of hundreds spears, and bucklers, and shields, that had been king David's, which were in the house of God. ¹⁰ And he set all the people, every man having his weapon in his hand, from the right side of the temple to the left side of the temple, along by the altar and the temple, by the king all around. ¹¹ Then they brought out the king's son, and put on him the crown, and gave him the testimony, and made him king. And Jehoiada and his sons anointed him, and said, "God save the king.

⁸ Now in the second year of their coming to the house of God at Jerusalem, in the second month, began Zerubbabel the son of Shealtiel, and Jeshua the son of Jozadak, and the remnant of their brothers the priests and the Levites, and all those that were come out of the captivity to Jerusalem; and appointed the Levites, from twenty years old and upward, to set forward the work of the house of the LORD.

³ For though we walk in the flesh, we do not war after the flesh: ⁴ (For the weapons of our warfare are not carnal, but mighty through God for the pulling down of strongholds);

¹⁸ This charge I commit to you, son Timothy, according to the prophecies previously spoken over you, that by them you might wage a good warfare;

¹ This is a true saying: If a man desires the office of a bishop, he desires a good work.

⁶ Not a novice, lest being lifted up with pride he fall into the condemnation of the devil.
