¹ Do not be envious against evil men, neither desire to be with them. ² For their heart studies destruction, and their lips talk of mischief. ³ Through wisdom a house is built; and by understanding it is established: ⁴ And by knowledge the chambers shall be filled with all precious and pleasant riches. ⁵ A wise man is strong; yes, a man of knowledge increases strength. ⁶ For by wise counsel you shall make your war: And in multitude of counsellors there is safety. ⁷ Wisdom is too high for a fool: He does not open his mouth in the gate. ⁸ He that devises to do evil shall be called a mischievous person. ⁹ The thought of foolishness is sin: And the scorner is an abomination to men. ¹⁰ If you faint in the day of adversity, your strength is small. ¹¹ If you forbear to deliver those that are drawn to death, and those that are ready to be slain; ¹² if you say, "Behold, we did not know it"; does He that ponders the heart not consider it? And He that keeps your soul, does He not know it? And shall He not render to every man according to his works? ¹³ My son, eat honey, because it is good; and the honeycomb, which is sweet to your taste: ¹⁴ So shall the knowledge of wisdom be to your soul: When you have found it, then there shall be a reward, and your expectation shall not be cut off. ¹⁵ Do not lay in wait, O wicked man, against the dwelling of the righteous; do not spoil his resting place: ¹⁶ For a just man falls seven times, and rises up again: But the wicked shall fall into mischief. ¹⁷ Do not rejoice when your enemy falls, and do not let your heart be glad when he stumbles: ¹⁸ Lest the LORD see it, and it displease Him, and He turns away His wrath from him. ¹⁹ Do not fret yourself because of evil men, neither be envious of the wicked: ²⁰ For there shall be no reward to the evil man; the candle of the wicked shall be put out. ²¹ My son, fear the LORD and the king: And do not meddle with those that are given to change: ²² For their calamity shall rise suddenly; and who knows the ruin of them both? ²³ These things also belong to the wise. It is not good to have reverence of persons in judgment. ²⁴ He that says to the wicked, "You are righteous"; the people shall curse him, nations shall abhor him: ²⁵ But to those that rebuke him shall be delight, and a good blessing shall come upon them. ²⁶ Every man shall kiss his lips that gives a right answer. ²⁷ Prepare your work outside, and make it fit for yourself in the field; and afterwards build your house. ²⁸ Do not be a witness against your neighbor without cause; and do not deceive with your lips. ²⁹ Do not say, "I will do so to him as he has done to me: I will render to the man according to his work." ³⁰ I went by the field of the slothful, and by the vineyard of the man void of understanding; ³¹ and, look, it was all grown over with thorns, and nettles had covered the face of it, and its stone wall was broken down. ³² Then I saw, and considered it well: I looked upon it, and received instruction. ³³ Yet a little sleep, a little slumber, a little folding of the hands to sleep: ³⁴ So shall your poverty come as one that travels abroad; and your want as an armed man.

¹⁰ And Lot lifted up his eyes, and beheld all the plain of the Jordan river, that it was well watered everywhere, before the LORD destroyed Sodom and Gomorrah, even as the garden of the LORD, like the land of Egypt, as you come to Zoar. ¹¹ Then Lot chose for himself all the plain of the Jordan river; and Lot journeyed east: And they separated themselves from each other. ¹² Abram dwelled in the land of Canaan, and Lot dwelled in the cities of the plain, and pitched his tent toward Sodom. ¹³ But the men of Sodom were wicked and sinners before the LORD, exceedingly so.

¹ And there came two angels to Sodom at sunset; and Lot sat in the gate of Sodom: And Lot seeing them rose up to meet them; and he bowed himself with his face toward the ground; ² and he said, "Behold now, my lords, turn in, I implore you, into your servant's house, and tarry all night, and wash your feet, and you shall rise up early, and go on your way." And they said, "No; but we will abide in the street all night." ³ And he pressed upon them greatly; and they turned in to him, and entered into his house; and he made them a feast, and baked unleavened bread, and they ate. ⁴ But before they lay down, the men of the city, even the men of Sodom, compassed around the house, both old and young, all the people from every quarter: ⁵ And they called to Lot, and said to him, "Where are the men which came in to you this night? Bring them out to us, that we may know them." ⁶ And Lot went out at the door to them, and shut the door after him, ⁷ and said, "I implore you, brethren, do not conduct yourselves so wickedly. ⁸ Behold now, I have two daughters which have not known a man; let me, I implore you, bring them out to you, and you do to them as is good in your eyes: Only do nothing to these men; for such shelter they came under the shadow of my roof." ⁹ And they said, "Stand back." And they said again, "This one fellow came in to sojourn, and he will necessarily be a judge: Now we will deal worse with you, than with them." And they pressed intensely upon the man, even Lot, and came near to breaking the door. ¹⁰ But the men put forth their hand, and pulled Lot into the house with them, and shut the door. ¹¹ And they smote the men that were at the door of the house with blindness, both small and great: So that they wearied themselves to find the door.

⁹ Gather not my soul with sinners, nor my life with bloody men:

¹ A Psalm of David. Do not fret yourself because of evildoers; neither be envious, comparing against the workers of iniquity.

⁷ Rest in the LORD, and wait patiently for Him: Do not fret yourself because of him who prospers in his way, because of the man who brings wicked devices to pass.

³ For I was envious at the foolish, when I saw the prosperity of the wicked.

¹¹ If they say, "Come with us, let us lay in wait for blood, let us lurk privately for the innocent without cause: ¹² Let us swallow them up alive as the grave; and whole, as those that go down into the pit: ¹³ We shall find all precious substance, we shall fill our houses with spoil: ¹⁴ Cast in your lot among us; let us all have one purse": ¹⁵ My son, do not walk in the way with them; refrain your foot from their path:

³¹ Do not envy the oppressor, and choose none of his ways.

²⁰ He that walks with wise men shall be wise: But a companion of fools shall be destroyed.

¹⁷ Do not let your heart envy sinners: But be in the fear of the LORD all the day long.

¹⁹ Do not fret yourself because of evil men, neither be envious of the wicked:

¹⁹ Now the works of the flesh are apparent, which are these: Adultery, fornication, uncleanness, lasciviousness, ²⁰ idolatry, witchcraft, hatred, variance, emulations, wrath, strife, seditions, heresies, ²¹ envyings, murders, drunkenness, revelings, and the like; of which I tell you beforehand, as I have also told you in time past, that those who do such things shall not inherit the kingdom of God.

⁵ Do you think that the scripture says in vain, "The Spirit that dwells in us lusts to envy"? ⁶ But He gives more grace. Therefore He says: "God resists the proud, but gives grace to the humble."

⁹ And David knew that Saul secretly practiced mischief against him; and he said to Abiathar the priest, "Bring here the ephod."

⁶ And he thought scorn to lay hands on Mordecai alone; for they had showed him the people of Mordecai: Therefore Haman sought to destroy all the Jews that were throughout the whole kingdom of Ahasuerus, even the people of Mordecai. ⁷ In the first month, that is, the month Nisan, in the twelfth year of king Ahasuerus, they cast Pur, that is, the lot, before Haman from day to day, and from month to month, to the twelfth month, that is, the month Adar.

³⁵ They conceive mischief, and bring forth vanity, and their belly prepares deceit.

¹⁴ Behold, he travails with iniquity, and has conceived mischief, and brought forth falsehood.

⁷ His mouth is full of cursing and deceit and fraud: Under his tongue is mischief and vanity.

³ Do not draw me away with the wicked, and with the workers of iniquity, which speak peace to their neighbors, but mischief is in their hearts.

⁴ He devises mischief upon his bed; he sets himself in a way that is not good; he does not abhor evil.

⁴ That they may shoot in secret at the perfect: Suddenly do they shoot at him, and fear not. ⁵ They encourage themselves in an evil matter: They commune in discourse of laying snares privately; they say, "Who shall see them? ⁶ They search out iniquities; they accomplish a diligent search: Both the inward thought of every one of them, and the heart, is deep.

² those which imagine mischief in their heart; they are continually gathered together for war.

¹⁴ frowardness is in his heart, he devises mischief continually; he sows discord.

⁸ He that devises to do evil shall be called a mischievous person.

⁴ No one calls for justice, nor does anyone plead for truth: They trust in vanity, and speak lies; they conceive mischief, and bring forth vanity.

³ That they may do evil with both hands earnestly, the prince asks, and the judge asks for a reward; and the great man, he utters his mischievous desire: So they wrap it up.his mischievous desire: In Hebrew, the mischief of his soul

³ Then the chief priests, the scribes, and the elders of the people assembled together at the palace of the high priest, who was called Caiaphas, ⁴ and consulted that they might take Jesus through cunning, and kill Him.

²⁰ Pilate therefore, willing to release Jesus, spoke to them again. ²¹ But they cried out, saying, "Crucify Him, crucify Him."

¹⁰ and said, "O full of all craftiness and all mischief, you child of the devil, you enemy of all righteousness, will you not cease to pervert the right ways of the Lord?

²⁶ And let your name be magnified forever, saying, "The LORD of hosts is the God over Israel: And let the house of your servant David be established before you.

¹² He has made the earth by His power, He has established the world by His wisdom, and has outstretched heaven by His discretion.

⁹ For we are laborers together with God: You are God's tillage, you are God's building.

⁷ Rooted and built up in Him, and established in the faith, as you have been taught, abounding in it with thanksgiving.

²² And Solomon's provision for one day was thirty measures of fine flour, and three score measures of meal, ²³ ten fat oxen, and twenty oxen out of the pastures, and a hundred sheep, beside harts, and roebucks, and fallow deer, and fatted fowl. ²⁴ For he had dominion over all the region on this side the river, from Tiphsah even to Azzah, over all the kings on this side the river: And he had peace on all sides all around him. ²⁵ And Judah and Israel dwelled safely, every man under his vine and under his fig tree, from Dan even to Beersheba, all the days of Solomon. ²⁶ And Solomon had forty thousand stalls of horses for his chariots, and twelve thousand horsemen. ²⁷ And those officers provided food for king Solomon, and for all that came to king Solomon's table, every man in his month: They lacked nothing. ²⁸ Barley also and straw for the horses and dromedaries brought they to the place where the officers were, every man according to his charge.

²⁵ And over the king's treasures was Azmaveth the son of Adiel: And over the storehouses in the fields, in the cities, and in the villages, and in the castles, was Jehonathan the son of Uzziah: ²⁶ And over those that did the work of the field for tillage of the ground was Ezri the son of Chelub: ²⁷ And over the vineyards was Shimei the Ramathite: Over the increase of the vineyards for the wine cellars was Zabdi the Shiphmite: ²⁸ And over the olive trees and the sycomore trees that were in the low plains was Baalhanan the Gederite: And over the cellars of oil was Joash: ²⁹ And over the herds that fed in Sharon was Shitrai the Sharonite: And over the herds that were in the valleys was Shaphat the son of Adlai: ³⁰ Over the camels also was Obil the Ishmaelite: And over the donkeys was Jehdeiah the Meronothite: ³¹ And over the flocks was Jaziz the Hagerite. All these were the rulers of the substance which was king David's.

² Now I have prepared with all my might for the house of my God the gold for things to be made of gold, and the silver for things of silver, and the brass for things of brass, the iron for things of iron, and wood for things of wood; onyx stones, and stones to be set, glistering stones, and of diverse colors, and all manner of precious stones, and marble stones in abundance. ³ Moreover, because I have set my affection to the house of my God, I have of my own proper good, of gold and silver, which I have given to the house of my God, over and above all that I have prepared for the holy house. ⁴ Even three thousand talents of gold, of the gold of Ophir, and seven thousand talents of refined silver, to overlay the walls of the houses with: ⁵ The gold for things of gold, and the silver for things of silver, and for all manner of work to be made by the hands of artificers. And who then is willing to consecrate his service this day to the LORD? ⁶ Then the chief of the fathers and princes of the tribes of Israel and the captains of thousands and of hundreds, with the rulers of the king's work, offered willingly, ⁷ and gave for the service of the house of God of gold five thousand talents and ten thousand drams, and of silver ten thousand talents, and of brass eighteen thousand talents, and one hundred thousand talents of iron. ⁸ And they with whom precious stones were found gave them to the treasure of the house of the LORD, by the hand of Jehiel the Gershonite. ⁹ Then the people rejoiced, for that they offered willingly, because with perfect heart they offered willingly to the LORD: And David the king also rejoiced with great joy.

¹⁸ Thus Solomon made all these vessels in great abundance: For the weight of the brass could not be found out. ¹⁹ And Solomon made all the vessels that were for the house of God, the golden altar also, and the tables on which the show-bread was set; ²⁰ moreover the candlesticks with their lamps, that they should burn after the manner before the oracle, of pure gold; ²¹ and the flowers, and the lamps, and the tongs, made he of gold, and that perfect gold; ²² and the snuffers, and the basins, and the spoons, and the censers, of pure gold: And the entry of the house, the inner doors of it for the most holy place, and the doors of the house of the temple, were of gold.

⁴ And he did that which was right in the sight of the LORD, according to all that his father Amaziah did. ⁵ And he sought God in the days of Zechariah, who had understanding in the visions of God: And as long as he sought the LORD, God made him to prosper. ⁶ And he went forth and warred against the Philistines, and broke down the wall of Gath, and the wall of Jabneh, and the wall of Ashdod, and built cities about Ashdod, and among the Philistines. ⁷ And God helped him against the Philistines, and against the Arabians that dwelled in Gurbaal, and the Mehunims. ⁸ And the Ammonites gave gifts to Uzziah: And his name spread abroad even to the entering in of Egypt; for he strengthened himself exceedingly. ⁹ Moreover Uzziah built towers in Jerusalem at the corner gate, and at the valley gate, and at the turning of the wall, and fortified them. ¹⁰ Also he built towers in the desert, and dig many wells: For he had much domestic beasts, both in the low country, and in the plains: Farmers also, and vine dressers in the mountains, and in Carmel: For he loved husbandry. ¹¹ Moreover Uzziah had a host of fighting men, that went out to war by bands, according to the number of their account by the hand of Jeiel the scribe and Maaseiah the ruler, under the hand of Hananiah, one of the king's captains.

³⁹ For the children of Israel and the children of Levi shall bring the offering of the grain, of the new wine, and the oil, to the chambers, where are the vessels of the sanctuary, and the priests that minister, and the porters, and the singers: And we will not forsake the house of our God.

⁵ And he had prepared for him a great chamber, where formerly they laid the food offerings, the frankincense, and the vessels, and the tithes of the grain, the new wine, and the oil, which was commanded to be given to the Levites, and the singers, and the porters; and the offerings of the priests. ⁶ But in all this time was not I at Jerusalem: For in the two and thirtieth year of Artaxerxes king of Babylon came I to the king, and after certain days obtained I leave of the king: ⁷ And I came to Jerusalem, and understood of the evil that Eliashib did for Tobiah, in preparing him a chamber in the courts of the house of God. ⁸ And it grieved me sore: Therefore I cast forth all the household stuff to Tobiah out of the chamber. ⁹ Then I commanded, and they cleansed the chambers: And thither brought I again the vessels of the house of God, with the food offering and the frankincense. ¹⁰ And I perceived that the portions of the Levites had not been given them: For the Levites and the singers, that did the work, were fled every one to his field. ¹¹ Then contended I with the rulers, and said, "Why is the house of God forsaken? And I gathered them together, and set them in their place. ¹² Then brought all Judah the tithe of the grain and the new wine and the oil to the treasuries. ¹³ And I made treasurers over the treasuries, Shelemiah the priest, and Zadok the scribe, and of the Levites, Pedaiah: And next to them was Hanan the son of Zaccur, the son of Mattaniah: For they were counted faithful, and their office was to distribute to their brothers.

²¹ That I may cause those that love me to inherit substance; and I will fill their treasures.

⁶ In the house of the righteous is much treasure: But in the revenues of the wicked is trouble.

¹⁵ There is gold, and a multitude of rubies: But the lips of knowledge are a precious jewel.

²⁰ There is treasure to be desired and oil in the dwelling of the wise; but a foolish man spends it all.

²³ Be diligent to know the state of your flocks, and look well to your herds. ²⁴ For riches are not forever: And does the crown endure to every generation? ²⁵ The hay appears, and the tender grass shows itself, and herbs of the mountains are gathered. ²⁶ The lambs are for your clothing, and the goats are the price of the field. ²⁷ And you shall have enough goats' milk for your food, for the food of your household, and for the sustenance of your maidens.

⁵² Then He said to them, "Therefore every scribe which is instructed concerning the kingdom of heaven is like a man who is a householder, who brings forth out of his treasure things new and old."

⁷ They go from strength to strength, every one of them in Zion appear before God.

¹⁴ Counsel is mine, and sound wisdom: I am understanding; I have strength.

²⁹ The way of the LORD is strength to the upright: But destruction shall be to the workers of iniquity.

²² A wise man scales the city of the mighty, and casts down the strength of its confidence.

¹⁹ Wisdom strengthens the wise more than ten mighty men who are in the city.

¹⁴ There was a little city, and few men within it; and there came a great king against it, and besieged it, and built great bulwarks against it: ¹⁵ Now there was a poor wise man found in it, and he delivered the city by his wisdom; yet no man remembered that same poor man. ¹⁶ Then I said, "Wisdom is better than strength: Nevertheless the poor man's wisdom is despised, and his words are not heard. ¹⁷ The words of wise men are heard in quiet more than the cry of him that rules among fools. ¹⁸ Wisdom is better than weapons of war: But one sinner destroys much good."

³¹ But those who wait upon the LORD shall renew their strength; they shall mount up with wings like eagles; they shall run, and not be weary; they shall walk, and not faint.

¹¹ strengthened with all might, according to His glorious power, with all patience and longsuffering with joyfulness;

¹⁴ Where no counsel is, the people fall: But in the multitude of counsellors there is safety.

²² Without counsel purposes are disappointed: But in the multitude of counsellors they are established.

¹⁸ Every purpose is established by counsel: And with good advice make war.

³¹ Or what king, going to make war against another king, does not sit down first, and consult whether he is able with ten thousand to meet him that comes against him with twenty thousand?

²⁵ And every man that strives for the mastery is temperate in all things. Now they do it to obtain a corruptible crown; but we an incorruptible. ²⁶ I therefore so run, not with uncertainty; I so fight, not as one that beats the air: ²⁷ But I weary my body, and bring it into subjection: Lest that by any means, when I have preached to others, I myself should be a castaway.

¹⁰ Finally, my brethren, be strong in the Lord, and in the power of His might. ¹¹ Put on the whole armor of God, that you may be able to stand against the wiles of the devil. ¹² For we do not wrestle against flesh and blood, but against principalities, against powers, against the rulers of the darkness of this world, against spiritual wickedness in high places. ¹³ Therefore take up the whole armor of God, that you may be able to withstand in the evil day, and having done all, to stand. ¹⁴ Stand therefore, having your loins girded around with truth, and having on the breastplate of righteousness; ¹⁵ and your feet shod with the preparation of the gospel of peace; ¹⁶ above all, taking the shield of faith, with which you shall be able to quench all the fiery darts of the wicked. ¹⁷ And take the helmet of salvation, and the sword of the Spirit, which is the Word of God: ¹⁸ Praying always with all prayer and supplication in the Spirit, and watching to the end with all perseverance and supplication for all saints; ¹⁹ and for me, that utterance may be given to me, that I may open my mouth boldly, to make known the mystery of the gospel, ²⁰ for which I am an ambassador in chains: That I may speak the gospel boldly, as I ought to speak.

¹¹ But you, O man of God, flee these things; and follow after righteousness, godliness, faith, love, patience, meekness. ¹² Fight the good fight of faith, lay hold on eternal life, to which you are also called, and have professed a good profession before many witnesses.

⁷ I have fought a good fight, I have finished my course, I have kept the faith:

⁴ His children are far from safety, and they are crushed in the gate, neither is there any to deliver them.

⁷ when I went out to the gate through the city, when I prepared my seat in the street! ⁸ The young men saw me, and hid themselves: And the aged arose, and stood up. ⁹ The princes refrained talking, and laid their hand on their mouth. ¹⁰ The nobles held their peace, and their tongue stuck to the roof of their mouth. ¹¹ When the ear heard me, then it blessed me; and when the eye saw me, it gave witness to me: ¹² Because I delivered the poor that cried, and the fatherless, and him that had none to help him. ¹³ The blessing of him that was ready to perish came on me: And I caused the widow's heart to sing for joy. ¹⁴ I put on righteousness, and it clothed me: My judgment was as a robe and a diadem. ¹⁵ I was eyes to the blind, and feet was I to the lame. ¹⁶ I was a father to the poor: And the cause which I did not know I searched out. ¹⁷ And I broke the jaws of the wicked, and plucked the spoil out of his teeth. ¹⁸ Then I said, "I shall die in my nest, and I shall multiply my days as the sand. ¹⁹ My root was spread out by the waters, and the dew lay all night on my branch. ²⁰ My glory was fresh in me, and my bow was renewed in my hand. ²¹ To me men gave ear, and waited, and kept silence at my counsel. ²² After my words they spoke not again; and my speech dropped on them. ²³ And they waited for me as for the rain; and they opened their mouth wide as for the latter rain. ²⁴ If I laughed on them, they believed it not; and the light of my countenance they cast not down. ²⁵ I chose out their way, and sat chief, and dwelled as a king in the army, as one that comforts the mourners.

²¹ if I have lifted up my hand against the fatherless, when I saw my help in the gate:

⁵ His ways are always grievous; Your judgments are far above out of his sight: As for all his enemies, he puffs at them.

⁵ O LORD, how great are Your works! And Your thoughts are very deep. ⁶ A brutish man does not know; neither does a fool understand this.

⁶ A scorner seeks wisdom, and does not find it: But knowledge is easy to him that understands.

²⁴ The way of life is above to the wise, that he may depart from hell beneath.

²⁴ Wisdom is before him that has understanding; but the eyes of a fool are in the ends of the earth.

²² Do not rob the poor, because he is poor: Neither oppress the afflicted in the gate:

⁸ Open your mouth for the dumb in the cause of all such as are appointed to destruction. ⁹ Open your mouth, judge righteously, and plead the cause of the poor and needy.

²¹ That make a man an offender for a word, and lay a snare for him that reproves in the gate, and turn aside the just for a thing of nothing.

¹⁰ They hate him that rebukes in the gate, and they abhor him that speaks uprightly.

¹² For I know your manifold transgressions and your mighty sins: They afflict the just, they take a bribe, and they turn aside the poor in the gate from their rights.

¹⁵ Hate the evil, and love the good, and establish judgment in the gate: It may be that the LORD God of hosts will be gracious to the remnant of Joseph.

¹⁴ But the natural man does not receive the things of the Spirit of God: For they are foolishness to him: Neither can he know them, because they are spiritually discerned.

⁴⁴ The king said moreover to Shimei, You know all the wickedness which your heart is privy to, that you did to David my father: Therefore the LORD shall return your wickedness upon your own head;

¹¹ For they intended evil against You: They imagined a mischievous device, which they are not able to perform.

¹⁸ a heart that devises wicked imaginations, feet that are swift in running to mischief,

²² Do they not err that devise evil? But mercy and truth shall be to them that devise good.

⁹ The thought of foolishness is sin: And the scorner is an abomination to men.

⁷ However, he does not mean so, neither does his heart think so; but it is in his heart to destroy and cut off not a few nations. ⁸ For he said, "Are not my princes altogether kings?" ⁹ Is not Calno as Carchemish? Is not Hamath as Arpad? Is not Samaria as Damascus? ¹⁰ As my hand has found the kingdoms of the idols, and whose graven images did excel them of Jerusalem and of Samaria; ¹¹ shall I not, as I have done to Samaria and her idols, do so to Jerusalem and her idols? ¹² Therefore it shall come to pass, that when the Lord has performed His whole work upon Mount Zion and on Jerusalem, I will punish the fruit of the stout heart of the king of Assyria, and the glory of his high looks. ¹³ For he said, "By the strength of my hand I have done it, and by my wisdom; for I am prudent: And I have removed the bounds of the people, and have robbed their treasures, and I have put down the inhabitants like a valiant man:

⁷ Also the instruments of the rude are evil: He devises wicked devices to destroy the poor with lying words, even when the needy speaks truth.

¹⁰ Thus says the Lord GOD; "It shall also come to pass, that at the same time things shall come into your mind, and you shall think an evil thought: ¹¹ And you shall say, 'I will go up to the land of unwalled villages; I will go to those that are at rest, that dwell safely, all of them dwelling without walls, and having neither bars nor gates,

¹¹ There is one that comes out of you, that imagines evil against the LORD, a wicked counselor.a wicked counselor: In Hebrew, a counselor of Belial

³⁰ backbiters, haters of God, full of spite, proud, boasters, inventors of evil things, disobedient to parents,

⁵ And God saw that the wickedness of man was great in the earth, and that every imagination of the thoughts of his heart was only evil continually.

²¹ And the LORD smelled a sweet savor; and the LORD said in his heart, "I will not again curse the ground any more for man's sake; for the imagination of man's heart is evil from his youth; neither will I again smite any more every thing living, as I have done.

¹¹³ SAMECH: I hate vain thoughts: But Your law I do love.

¹⁰ Cast out the scorner, and contention shall go out; yes, strife and reproach shall cease.

⁷ For as he thinks in his heart, so is he: He says to you, "Eat and drink"; but his heart is not with you.

⁸ Scornful men bring a city into a snare: But wise men turn away wrath.

⁷ Let the wicked forsake his way, and the unrighteous man his thoughts: And let him return to the LORD, and He will have mercy on him; and to our God, for He will abundantly pardon.

¹⁴ O Jerusalem, wash your heart from wickedness, that you may be saved. How long shall your vain thoughts lodge within you?

²⁸ But I say to you that whoever looks upon a woman, to lust after her has committed adultery with her already in his heart.

⁴ But Jesus knowing their thoughts said, "Why do you think evil in your hearts?

¹⁹ For out of the heart proceeds evil thoughts, murders, adulteries, fornications, thefts, false witness, blasphemies:

²² Therefore repent of this, your wickedness, and beseech God if perhaps the thought of your heart may be forgiven you.

⁵ casting down imaginations, and every high thing that exalts itself against the knowledge of God, and bringing every thought into captivity to the obedience of Christ;

¹ And David said in his heart, "I shall now perish one day by the hand of Saul: There is nothing better for me than that I should speedily escape into the land of the Philistines; and Saul shall despair of me, to seek me anymore within any border of Israel: So shall I escape out of his hand."

⁵ But now it is come on you, and you faint; it touches you, and you are troubled.

²⁸ Have you not known? Have you not heard, that the everlasting God, the LORD, the Creator of the ends of the earth, does not faint, nor is weary? There is no searching of His understanding. ²⁹ He gives power to the faint; and to those who have no might He increases strength. ³⁰ Even the youths shall faint and be weary, and the young men shall utterly fall: ³¹ But those who wait upon the LORD shall renew their strength; they shall mount up with wings like eagles; they shall run, and not be weary; they shall walk, and not faint.

⁴⁶ And lest your heart faint, and you fear for the rumor that shall be heard in the land; a rumor shall both come one year, and after that in another year shall come a rumor, and violence in the land, ruler against ruler.

⁸ (For His disciples had gone away to the city to buy food.)

¹ Therefore, seeing we have this ministry, as we have received mercy, we do not faint;

¹³ Therefore I desire that you do not faint at my tribulations for you, which is your glory.

³ For consider Him that endured such contradiction from sinners against Himself, lest you be wearied and faint in your minds. ⁴ You have not yet resisted to the point of blood, striving against sin. ⁵ And you have forgotten the exhortation which speaks to you as to children, "My son, do not despise the chastening of the Lord, nor faint when you are rebuked by Him:

³ And have supported, and have patience, and have labored for My name's sake, and have not fainted.

¹³ "I know your works, and where you dwell, even where Satan's seat is: And you hold firmly My name, and have not denied My faith, even in those days in which Antipas was My faithful martyr, who was slain among you, where Satan dwells.

⁸ Then Abishai said to David, "God has delivered your enemy into your hand this day: Now therefore let me smite him, I implore you, with the spear even to the earth at once, and I will not smite him the second time." ⁹ And David said to Abishai, "Do not slay him: For who can stretch forth his hand against the LORD's anointed, and be guiltless?"

¹⁷ And I broke the jaws of the wicked, and plucked the spoil out of his teeth.

⁴ Deliver the poor and needy: Deliver them out of the hand of the wicked.

⁶ Is not this the fast that I have chosen? To loose the bands of wickedness, to undo the heavy burdens, and to let the oppressed go free, and that you break every yoke? ⁷ Is it not to deal your bread to the hungry, and that you bring the poor that are cast out to your house? When you see the naked, that you cover him; and that you do not hide yourself from your own flesh?

³¹ Now by chance a certain priest came down that road: And when he saw him, he passed by on the other side. ³² And likewise a Levite, when he was at the place, came and looked upon him, and passed by on the other side.

²³ But they were urgent with loud voices, requiring that He might be crucified. And the voices of them and of the chief priests prevailed. ²⁴ And Pilate gave sentence that it should be as they required. ²⁵ And he released to them him that for insurrection and murder was cast into prison, whom they had desired; but he delivered Jesus to their will.

¹⁷ Then all the Greeks took Sosthenes, the chief ruler of the synagogue, and beat him before the judgment seat. And Gallio cared for none of those things.Greeks; most probably Jewish Greeks

³¹ Now as they went about to kill him, news came to the chief captain of the soldiers, that all Jerusalem was in an uproar. ³² Who immediately took soldiers and centurions, and ran down to them: And when they saw the chief captain and the soldiers, they ceased beating Paul.

¹⁰ Moreover, when there arose a great dissension, the chief captain, fearing lest Paul would have been pulled to pieces by them, commanded the soldiers to go down, and to take him by force from among them, and to bring him into the castle.

²³ And he called two centurions to himself, saying, "Prepare two hundred soldiers, seventy horsemen, and two hundred spearmen to go to Caesarea at the third hour of the night; ²⁴ and provide for them beasts, that they may set Paul upon, and bring him safe to Felix the governor." ²⁵ Then he wrote a letter in the following manner: ²⁶ Claudius Lysias, To the most excellent governor Felix: Greetings. ²⁷ This man was taken by the Jews, and would have been killed by them: Then I came with an army, and rescued him, having understood that he was a Roman. ²⁸ And when I intended to know the cause for why they accused him, I brought him forth into their council: ²⁹ What I perceived was that he is accused over questions of their law, but had nothing charged against him worthy of death nor of chains. ³⁰ And when it was told to me how the Jews laid in wait for the man, I sent him immediately to you, and also gave commands to his accusers to speak before you what they had against him. Farewell. ³¹ Then the soldiers, as it was commanded to them, took Paul, and brought him by night to Antipatris. ³² On the next day, they left the horsemen to go on with him, and returned to the castle: ³³ When they came to Caesarea, and delivered the letter to the governor, they also presented Paul before him. ³⁴ And when the governor had read the letter, he asked what province he was from. And when he understood that he was from Cilicia; ³⁵ he said, "I will hear you when your accusers have also come." And he commanded him to be kept in Herod's judgment hall.

¹⁶ By this we perceive the love of God, because He laid down His life for us: And we ought to lay down our lives for the brethren. ¹⁷ But whoever has this world's good life, and sees his brother have need, and shuts up his inner heart of compassion from him, how does the love of God dwell in him?

⁶ The LORD kills, and makes alive: He brings down to the grave, and brings up.

⁷ But the LORD said to Samuel, "Do not look on his countenance, nor on the height of his stature; because I have refused him: For the LORD does not see as man sees; for man looks on the outward appearance, but the LORD looks on the heart."

²⁹ Yet a man is risen to pursue you, and to seek your soul: But the soul of my lord shall be bound in the bundle of life with the LORD your God; and the souls of your enemies, those ones He shall sling out, as out of the middle of a sling.

¹¹ For the work of a man shall he render to him, and cause every man to find according to his ways.

⁹ Oh let the wickedness of the wicked come to an end; but establish the just: For the righteous God proves the hearts and inner reins through testing.

³ You have proved my heart; You have visited me in the night; You have examined me, and shall find nothing; I have purposed that my mouth shall not transgress.

²¹ shall not God search this out? For He knows the secrets of the heart.

¹² Also to you, O Lord, belongs mercy: For you render to every man according to his work.

⁹ Which holds our soul in life, and does not permit our feet to be moved.

³ He will not allow your foot to be moved: He that keeps you will not slumber.

⁸ The LORD shall preserve your going out and your coming in from this time forth, and even forevermore.

²¹ For the ways of man are before the eyes of the LORD, and He ponders all his goings.

² Every way of a man is right in his own eyes: But the LORD ponders the hearts.

⁸ If you see the oppression of the poor, and violent perverting of judgment and justice in a province, do not marvel at the matter: For he who is higher than the highest observes; and there be higher than they.

¹⁰ I, the LORD, search the heart, I test the mind, even to give every man according to his ways, and according to the fruit of his doings.

¹⁹ great in counsel, and mighty in work: For Your eyes are open on all the ways of the sons of men: To give every one according to his ways, and according to the fruit of his doings:

²³ but have lifted up yourself against the Lord of heaven; and they have brought the vessels of His house before you, and you, and your lords, your wives, and your concubines, have drunk wine from them; and have praised the gods of silver and gold, of brass, iron, wood, and stone, which do not see, nor hear, nor know: And the God in Whose hand is your breath, and Whose are all your ways, you have not glorified:

²⁷ For the Son of Man shall come in the glory of His Father with His angels; and then He shall reward every man according to his works.

²⁸ For in Him we live, and move, and have our being; as also certain ones of your own poets have said, 'For we are also His offspring.'

⁶ who "will render to every man according to his deeds":

¹⁶ in the day when God shall judge the secrets of men by Jesus Christ according to my gospel.

⁵ Therefore judge nothing before the time, until the Lord comes, who will both bring to light the hidden things of darkness, and will make manifest the counsels of the hearts: And then every man shall have praise from God.

¹⁰ For we must all appear before the judgment seat of Christ; that every one may receive the things done in his body, according to what he has done, whether it is good or bad.

¹² For the Word of God is lively, and powerful, and sharper than any two-edged sword, piercing even to the dividing apart of soul and spirit, and of the joints and marrow, and is a discerner of the thoughts and intents of the heart. ¹³ Neither is there any creature that is not manifest in His sight: But all things are naked and uncovered to the eyes of Him with Whom we have to give account.

¹⁸ I am He that lives, and was dead; and behold, I am alive forevermore, Amen; and have the keys of hell and of death.

¹⁸ "And to the angel of the church in Thyatira write; 'These things says the Son of God, Who has His eyes likened to a flame of fire, and His feet are like fine brass;

²³ And I will kill her children with death; and all the churches shall know that I am He which searches the inner reins and hearts: And I will give to every one of you according to your works.

¹² And I saw the dead, small and great, stand before God; and the books were opened: And another book was opened, which is the Book of Life: And the dead were judged out of those things which were written in the books, according to their works. ¹³ And the sea gave up the dead which were in it; and death and hell delivered up the dead that were in them: And they were judged, every man according to their works. ¹⁴ Then death and hell were cast into the lake of fire. This is the second death. ¹⁵ And whoever was not found written in the Book of Life was cast into the lake of fire.

¹² "And behold, I come quickly; and my reward is with Me, to give every man according to as his work shall be.

¹⁰ More to be desired are they than gold, yes, than much fine gold: Sweeter also than honey and the honeycomb.

¹⁰³ How sweet are Your words to my taste! Yes, sweeter than honey to my mouth!

¹⁶ Have you found honey? Eat only so much as is sufficient for you, lest you be filled with it, and vomit it up.

²⁷ It is not good to eat much honey: In that same vein, for men to search their own glory is not glory.

¹¹ Your lips, O my spouse, drop as the honeycomb: Honey and milk are under your tongue; and the smell of your garments is like the smell of Lebanon.

¹ I have come into my garden, my sister, my spouse: I have gathered my myrrh with my spice; I have eaten my honeycomb with my honey; I have drunk my wine with my milk: Eat, O friends; drink, yes, drink abundantly, O beloved.

¹⁵ He shall eat butter and honey, that He may know to refuse the evil, and choose the good.

⁴ And the same John had his clothing from camel's hair, with a leather girdle around his loins; and his food was locusts and wild honey.

¹⁰ More to be desired are they than gold, yes, than much fine gold: Sweeter also than honey and the honeycomb. ¹¹ Moreover, by them Your servant is warned: And in keeping them there is great reward.

¹¹¹ I have taken Your testimonies as a heritage forever: For they are the rejoicing of my heart.

¹ My son, if you will receive my words, and hide my commandments with you; ² so that you incline your ear to wisdom, and apply your heart to understanding; ³ yes, if you cry out after knowledge, and lift up your voice for understanding; ⁴ if you seek her as silver, and search for her as for hidden treasures; ⁵ then you shall understand the fear of the LORD, and find the knowledge of God.

¹⁰ When wisdom enters into your heart, and knowledge is pleasant to your soul;

¹³ Happy is the man that finds wisdom, and the man that gets understanding. ¹⁴ For the merchandise of it is better than the merchandise of silver, and its gain than fine gold. ¹⁵ She is more precious than rubies: And all the things you can desire are not to be compared to her. ¹⁶ Length of days is in her right hand; and in her left hand riches and honor. ¹⁷ Her ways are ways of pleasantness, and all her paths are peace. ¹⁸ She is a tree of life to those that lay hold upon her: And happy is everyone that retains her.

¹⁸ For it is a pleasant thing if you keep them within you; they shall be fitted together in your lips.

¹⁸ For surely there is an end; and your expectation shall not be cut off.

¹⁶ Your words were found, and I ate them; and Your word was to me the joy and rejoicing of my heart: For I am called by Your name, O LORD God of hosts.

²¹ Jesus said to Him, "If you desire to be perfect, go and sell what you have, and give to the poor, and you shall have treasure in heaven: And come and follow Me."

²⁵ But he who looks into the perfect law of liberty, and continues in it, he not being a forgetful hearer, but a doer of the work, this man shall be blessed in his deed.

¹¹ And as they went up the hill to the city, they found young maidens going out to draw water, and said to them, "Is the seer here?"

¹⁸ And the king said to Doeg, "Turn yourself, and fall upon the priests." And Doeg the Edomite turned, and he fell upon the priests, and slew on that day eighty-five persons that wore a linen ephod. ¹⁹ And he smote Nob, the city of the priests, with the edge of the sword, both men and women, children and sucklings, and oxen, and donkeys, and sheep, with the edge of the sword.

²⁰ Now therefore, O king, come down according to all the desire of your soul to come down; and our part shall be to deliver him into the king's hand." ²¹ And Saul said, "Blessed be you of the LORD; for you have compassion on me. ²² Go, I implore you, even yet prepare, and know and see his place, where his haunt is; and who has seen him there: For it was told to me that he deals very subtly. ²³ See therefore, and take knowledge of all the lurking places where he hides himself, and come back again to me with all certainty, and I will go with you: And it shall come to pass, if he is in the land, that I will search him out throughout all the thousands of Judah."

⁸ He sits in the lurking places of the villages: In the secret places he murders the innocent: His eyes are privately set against the poor. ⁹ He lies in wait secretly as a lion in his den: He lies in wait to catch the poor: He does catch the poor, when he draws him into his net. ¹⁰ He crouches, and humbles himself, that the poor may fall by his strong ones.

³² The wicked watches the righteous, and seeks to slay him.

⁶ They gather themselves together, they hide themselves, they mark my steps, when they wait for my soul.

³ For lo, they lie in wait for my soul: The mighty are gathered against me; not for my transgression, nor for my sin, O LORD.

⁵ The proud have hid a snare for me, and cords; they have spread a net by the wayside; they have set traps for me. Selah.

¹¹ If they say, "Come with us, let us lay in wait for blood, let us lurk privately for the innocent without cause:

²⁸ Do not remove the ancient landmark, which your fathers have set.

¹⁸ And My people shall dwell in a peaceable habitation, and in sure dwellings, and in quiet resting places;

¹⁹ But I was like a lamb or an ox that is brought to the slaughter; and did not I know that they had devised devices against me, saying, 'Let us destroy the tree with its fruit, and let us cut him off from the land of the living, that his name may not be remembered anymore.'

⁴ and consulted that they might take Jesus through cunning, and kill Him.

²⁴ But their laying in wait was known to Saul. And they watched the gates day and night to kill him.

¹⁶ And when Paul's sister's son heard of their lying in wait, he went and entered into the castle, and told Paul.

³ and desired a favor against him, that he would send him to Jerusalem, while they are laying in wait by the road to kill him.

¹⁰ David furthermore said, "As the LORD lives, the LORD shall smite him; or his day shall come to die; or he shall descend into battle, and perish.

⁴ Then Saul said to his armor-bearer, "Draw your sword, and thrust me through with it; lest these uncircumcised ones come and thrust me through, and abuse me." But his armor-bearer would not; for he was greatly afraid. Therefore Saul took a sword, and fell upon it.

¹⁰ So they hanged Haman on the gallows that he had prepared for Mordecai. Then the king's wrath was pacified.

¹⁹ He shall deliver you in six troubles: Yes, in seven there shall no evil touch you.

¹⁶ His mischief shall return upon his own head, and his violent dealing shall come down upon his own scalp.

¹⁹ Many are the afflictions of the righteous: But the LORD delivers him out of them all.

²⁴ Though he fall, he shall not be utterly cast down: For the LORD upholds him with His hand.

⁵ God shall likewise destroy you forever, he shall take you away, and pluck you out of your dwelling place, and root you out of the land of the living. Selah.

¹⁷ A wicked messenger falls into mischief: But a faithful ambassador is health.

³² The wicked is driven away in his wickedness: But the righteous has hope in his death.

¹⁴ Happy is the man that fears always: But he that hardens his heart shall fall into mischief. ¹⁵ As a roaring lion, and a ranging bear; so is a wicked ruler over the poor people. ¹⁶ The prince that wants understanding is also a great oppressor: But he that hates covetousness shall prolong his days. ¹⁷ A man that does violence to the blood of any person shall flee to the pit; let no man hold him up. ¹⁸ Whoever walks uprightly shall be saved: But he that is perverse in his ways shall fall at once.

² The virgin of Israel has fallen; she shall rise no more: She is forsaken upon her land; there is none to raise her up.

¹⁴ Those that swear by the sin of Samaria, and say, 'Your God, O Dan, lives'; and, 'The manner of Beersheba lives'; even they shall fall, and never rise up again."manner: In Hebrew, way

⁸ Rejoice not against me, O my enemy: When I fall, I shall arise; when I sit in darkness, the LORD shall be a light to me. ⁹ I will bear the indignation of the LORD, because I have sinned against Him, until He pleads my cause, and executes judgment for me: He will bring me forth to the light, and I shall behold His righteousness. ¹⁰ Then she that is my enemy shall see it, and shame shall cover her who said to me, "Where is the LORD your God?" My eyes shall behold her: Now she shall be trodden down as the mire of the streets.

²³ And immediately the angel of the Lord smote him, because he did not give glory to God: And he was eaten by worms, and gave up the ghost.

⁸ For we do not intend, brethren, to have you ignorant of our trouble which came to us in Asia, that we were pressed beyond measure, above strength, so that we despaired even of life: ⁹ But we had the sentence of death in ourselves, that we should not trust in ourselves, but in God which raises the dead: ¹⁰ Who delivered us from so great a death, and does deliver: In whom we trust that He will yet deliver us;

⁸ We are troubled on every side, yet not distressed; we are perplexed, but not in despair; ⁹ persecuted, but not forsaken; cast down, but not destroyed; ¹⁰ always bearing about in the body the dying of the Lord Jesus, that the life of Jesus also might be made manifest in our body. ¹¹ For we who live are always delivered to death for Jesus' sake, that the life of Jesus also might be made manifest in our mortal flesh. ¹² So then death works in us, but life in you.

²³ Are they ministers of Christ? (I speak as a fool) I am more; in labors more abundant, in stripes above measure, in prisons more frequently, in deaths often. ²⁴ From the Jews five times I received forty stripes minus one. ²⁵ Three times I was beaten with rods, once I was stoned, three times I suffered shipwreck, a night and a day I have been in the deep; ²⁶ on frequent journeys, in perils of waters, in perils of robbers, in perils by my own countrymen, in perils by the heathen, in perils in the city, in perils in the wilderness, in perils in the sea, in perils among false brethren; ²⁷ in weariness and painfulness, in watchings often, in hunger and thirst, in fastings often, in cold and nakedness.

³ For when they shall say, "Peace and safety"; then sudden destruction comes upon them, as travail upon a woman with child; and they shall not escape.

²⁰ Rejoice over her, you heaven, and you holy apostles and prophets; for God has avenged you on her." ²¹ And a mighty angel took up a stone like a large millstone, and cast it into the sea, saying, "Thus with violence shall that great city Babylon be thrown down, and shall be found no more at all.

²⁵ And it came to pass, when their hearts were merry, that they said, "Call for Samson, that he may make us sport." And they called for Samson out of the prison house; and he made them sport: And they set him between the pillars.

⁵ And when king David came to Bahurim, behold, there came out a man of the family of the house of Saul, whose name was Shimei, the son of Gera: He came forth, and cursed still as he came. ⁶ And he cast stones at David, and at all the servants of king David: And all the people and all the mighty men were on his right hand and on his left. ⁷ And thus said Shimei when he cursed, Come out, come out, you bloody man, and you man of Belial: ⁸ The LORD has returned on you all the blood of the house of Saul, in whose stead you have reigned; and the LORD has delivered the kingdom into the hand of Absalom your son: And behold, you are taken in your mischief, because you are a bloody man. ⁹ Then said Abishai the son of Zeruiah to the king, Why should this dead dog curse my lord the king? Let me go over, I implore you, and take off his head. ¹⁰ And the king said, "What have I to do with you, you sons of Zeruiah? So let him curse, because the LORD has said to him, "Curse David. Who shall then say, "Why have you done so? ¹¹ And David said to Abishai, and to all his servants, Behold, my son, which came forth of my bowels, seeks my life: How much more now may this Benjamite do it? Let him alone, and let him curse; for the LORD has bidden him. ¹² It may be that the LORD will look on my affliction, and that the LORD will requite me good for his cursing this day. ¹³ And as David and his men went by the way, Shimei went along on the hill's side in front of him, and cursed as he went, and threw stones at him, and cast dust. ¹⁴ And the king, and all the people that were with him, came weary, and refreshed themselves there.

²⁹ If I rejoice at the destruction of him that hated me, or lifted up myself when evil found him:

¹⁵ But in my adversity they rejoiced, and gathered themselves together: Yes, the attackers gathered themselves together against me, and I did not know it; they tore at me, and did not cease:

¹⁹ Do not let those that are my enemies wrongfully rejoice over me: Neither let them wink with the eye who hate me without a cause.

¹⁰ As with a sword in my bones, my enemies reproach me; while they say daily to me, "Where is your God?"

⁵ Whoever mocks the poor reproaches his Maker: And he that is glad at calamities shall not be unpunished.

¹² But you should not have looked on the day of your brother in the day that he became a stranger; neither should you have rejoiced over the children of Judah in the day of their destruction; neither should you have spoken proudly in the day of distress.spoken proudly: In Hebrew, magnified your mouth

⁶ does not rejoice in iniquity, but rejoices in the truth; ⁷ bears all things, believes all things, hopes all things, endures all things.

²¹ Rejoice and be glad, O daughter of Edom, who dwell in the land of Uz; the cup shall also pass through to you: You shall be drunken, and shall make yourself naked. ²² The punishment of your iniquity is accomplished, O daughter of Zion; He will no longer carry you away into captivity:Hhe will visit your iniquity, O daughter of Edom; He will discover your sins.

¹⁵ And I am very sorely displeased with the heathen that are at ease: For I was only a little displeased, and they helped advance the affliction." ¹⁶ Therefore thus says the LORD; "I have returned to Jerusalem with mercies: My house shall be built in it", says the LORD of hosts, "and a line shall be stretched forth upon Jerusalem." '

²⁶ And he spoke to the congregation, saying, "Depart, I implore you, from the tents of these wicked men, and touch nothing of their's, lest you be consumed in all their sins.

¹ Blessed is the man that does not walk in the counsel of the ungodly, nor stand in the way of sinners, nor sit in the seat of the scornful.ungodly; or, wicked

⁴ I have not sat with vain persons, neither will I go in with dissemblers. ⁵ I have hated the congregation of evil doers; and will not sit with the wicked.

¹¹⁵ Depart from me, you evildoers: For I will keep the commandments of my God.

¹ Do not be envious against evil men, neither desire to be with them.

¹⁷ Therefore "Come out from among them, and be separate, says the Lord, and do not touch the unclean thing; and I will receive you",

¹¹ And have no fellowship with the unfruitful works of darkness, but rather reprove them.

² For men shall be lovers of their own selves, covetous, boasters, proud, blasphemers, disobedient to parents, unthankful, unholy, ³ without natural affection, truce-breakers, false accusers, incontinent, fierce, despisers of those who are good, ⁴ traitors, heady, highminded, lovers of pleasures more than lovers of God; ⁵ having a form of godliness, but denying the power of it: From such turn away.

⁴ And I heard another voice from heaven, saying, "Come out of her, my people, that you are not partakers of her sins, and that you do not receive of her plagues. ⁵ Yes, the light of the wicked shall be put out, and the spark of his fire shall not shine. ⁶ The light shall be dark in his tabernacle, and his candle shall be put out with him.

¹⁷ How oft is the candle of the wicked put out! And how oft comes their destruction on them! God distributes sorrows in his anger.

¹⁷ The wicked shall be turned into hell, and all the nations that forget God.

⁶ Upon the wicked He shall rain snares, fire and brimstone, and a horrible tempest: This shall be the portion of their cup.

⁹ The light of the righteous rejoices: But the lamp of the wicked shall be put out.

²⁰ Whoever curses his father or his mother, his lamp shall be put out in obscure darkness.

¹¹ Woe to the wicked! It shall be ill with him: For the reward of his hands shall be given him.

¹² But the children of the kingdom shall be cast out into outer darkness: There shall be weeping and gnashing of teeth."

⁸ And the foolish said to the wise, 'Give us some of your oil; for our lamps have gone out.'

¹³ raging waves of the sea, foaming out their own shame; wandering stars, for whom is reserved the blackness of darkness forever.

³¹ And Israel saw that great work which the LORD did upon the Egyptians: And the people feared the LORD, and believed the LORD, and his servant Moses.

¹ Now Korah, the son of Izhar, the son of Kohath, the son of Levi, and Dathan and Abiram, the sons of Eliab, and On, the son of Peleth, sons of Reuben, took men: ² And they rose up before Moses, with certain of the children of Israel, two hundred and fifty princes of the assembly, famous in the congregation, men of renown: ³ And they gathered themselves together against Moses and against Aaron, and said to them, "You take too much on you, seeing all the congregation are holy, every one of them, and the LORD is among them: Why then lift you up yourselves above the congregation of the LORD?

⁵ And said to him, "Behold, you are old, and your sons do not walk in your ways: Now make us a king to judge us like all the nations." ⁶ But the thing displeased Samuel, when they said, "Give us a king to judge us." And Samuel prayed to the LORD. ⁷ And the LORD said to Samuel, "Hearken to the voice of the people in all that they say to you: For they have not rejected you, but they have rejected Me, that I should not reign over them.

¹² And when you saw that Nahash the king of the children of Ammon came against you, you said to me, 'No; but a king shall reign over us': When the LORD your God was your king. ¹³ Now therefore behold the king whom you have chosen, and whom you have desired! And behold, the LORD has set a king over you. ¹⁴ If you will fear the LORD, and serve him, and obey his voice, and not rebel against the commandment of the LORD, then both you and also the king that reigns over you shall continue following the LORD your God: ¹⁵ But if you will not obey the voice of the LORD, but rebel against the commandment of the LORD, then the hand of the LORD shall be against you, as it was against your fathers. ¹⁶ Now therefore stand and see this great thing, which the LORD will do before your eyes. ¹⁷ Is it not wheat harvest today? I will call to the LORD, and He shall send thunder and rain; that you may perceive and see that your wickedness is great, which you have done in the sight of the LORD, in asking for yourselves a king." ¹⁸ So Samuel called to the LORD; and the LORD sent thunder and rain that day: And all the people greatly feared the LORD and Samuel. ¹⁹ And all the people said to Samuel, "Pray for your servants to the LORD your God, that we do not die: For we have added to all our sins this evil, to ask for us a king."

⁶ And he said to his men, "The LORD forbid that I should do this thing to my master, the LORD's anointed, to stretch forth my hand against him, seeing he is the anointed of the LORD."

¹³ And there came a messenger to David, saying, "The hearts of the men of Israel are after Absalom. ¹⁴ And David said to all his servants that were with him at Jerusalem, Arise, and let us flee; for we shall not else escape from Absalom: Make speed to depart, lest he overtake us suddenly, and bring evil on us, and smite the city with the edge of the sword. ¹⁵ And the king's servants said to the king, Behold, your servants are ready to do whatever my lord the king shall appoint. ¹⁶ And the king went forth, and all his household after him. And the king left ten women, which were concubines, to keep the house. ¹⁷ And the king went forth, and all the people after him, and tarried in a place that was far off. ¹⁸ And all his servants passed on beside him; and all the Cherethites, and all the Pelethites, and all the Gittites, six hundred men which came after him from Gath, passed on before the king. ¹⁹ Then said the king to Ittai the Gittite, Why go you also with us? Return to your place, and abide with the king: For you are a stranger, and also an exile. ²⁰ Whereas you came but yesterday, should I this day make you go up and down with us? Seeing I go where I may, return yourself, and take back your brothers: Mercy and truth be with you. ²¹ And Ittai answered the king, and said, "As the LORD lives, and as my lord the king lives, surely in what place my lord the king shall be, whether in death or life, even there also will your servant be. ²² And David said to Ittai, "Go and pass over. And Ittai the Gittite passed over, and all his men, and all the little ones that were with him. ²³ And all the country wept with a loud voice, and all the people passed over: The king also himself passed over the brook Kidron, and all the people passed over, toward the way of the wilderness. ²⁴ And see Zadok also, and all the Levites were with him, bearing the ark of the covenant of God: And they set down the ark of God; and Abiathar went up, until all the people had done passing out of the city. ²⁵ And the king said to Zadok, "Carry back the ark of God into the city: If I shall find favor in the eyes of the LORD, he will bring me again, and show me both it, and his habitation: ²⁶ But if he thus say, "I have no delight in you; behold, here I am, let him do to me as seems good to him. ²⁷ The king said also to Zadok the priest, Are not you a seer? Return into the city in peace, and your two sons with you, Ahimaaz your son, and Jonathan the son of Abiathar. ²⁸ See, I will tarry in the plain of the wilderness, until there come word from you to certify me. ²⁹ Zadok therefore and Abiathar carried the ark of God again to Jerusalem: And they tarried there. ³⁰ And David went up by the ascent of Mount Olivet, and wept as he went up, and had his head covered, and he went barefoot: And all the people that were with him covered every man his head, and they went up, weeping as they went up. ³¹ And one told David, saying, "Ahithophel is among the conspirators with Absalom. And David said, "O LORD, I implore you, turn the counsel of Ahithophel into foolishness. ³² And it came to pass, that when David had come to the top of the mount, where he worshiped God, behold, Hushai the Archite came to meet him with his coat rent, and earth on his head: ³³ To whom David said, "If you pass on with me, then you shall be a burden to me: ³⁴ But if you return to the city, and say to Absalom, I will be your servant, O king; as I have been your father's servant till now, so will I now also be your servant: Then may you for me defeat the counsel of Ahithophel. ³⁵ And have you not there with you Zadok and Abiathar the priests? Therefore it shall be, that what thing soever you shall hear out of the king's house, you shall tell it to Zadok and Abiathar the priests. ³⁶ Behold, they have there with them their two sons, Ahimaaz Zadok's son, and Jonathan Abiathar's son; and by them you shall send to me every thing that you can hear. ³⁷ So Hushai David's friend came into the city, and Absalom came into Jerusalem.

¹⁶ So when all Israel saw that the king did not hearken to them, the people answered the king, saying, "What portion have we in David? Neither have we inheritance in the son of Jesse: To your tents, O Israel: Now see to your own house, David. So Israel departed to their tents.

² I counsel you to keep the king's commandment, and in that regard keep the oath of God. ³ Do not be hasty to go out of his presence: Do not persist in an evil thing; for he does whatever pleases him. ⁴ Where the word of a king is, there is power: And who may say to him, "What are you doing?" ⁵ Whoever keeps the commandment shall feel no evil thing: And a wise man's heart discerns both time and judgment.

²¹ They said to Him, "Caesar's." Then He said to them, "Render therefore to Caesar the things which are Caesar's; and to God the things that are God's."

¹ Let every soul be subject to the higher powers. For there is no power but from God: The powers that be are ordained by God. ² Therefore whoever resists the power, resists the ordinance of God: And those who resist shall receive to themselves damnation. ³ For rulers are not a terror to good works, but to the evil. Do you then desire not to be afraid of the power? Do that which is good, and you shall have praise from the same: ⁴ For he is God's minister to you for good. But if you do that which is evil, be afraid; for he does not bear the sword in vain: For he is the minister of God, a revenger to execute wrath upon him that does evil. ⁵ Therefore you must be subject, not only because of wrath, but also for conscience' sake. ⁶ Because, for this reason you also pay tribute: For they are God's ministers, attending continually to this very thing. ⁷ Render therefore to all their dues: Tribute to whom tribute is due; customs to whom customs; fear to whom fear; honor to whom honor.

¹ Remind them to be subject to principalities and powers, to obey magistrates, to be ready for every good work,

¹³ Submit yourselves to every ordinance of man for the Lord's sake: Whether it be to the king, as supreme; ¹⁴ or to governors, as to those that are sent by him for the punishment of evildoers, and for the praise of those that do well. ¹⁵ For thus is the will of God, that with well doing you may put to silence the ignorance of foolish men: ¹⁶ As free, yet not using your liberty as a cloak of maliciousness, but as the servants of God. ¹⁷ Honor all people. Love the brotherhood. Fear God. Honor the king.

³¹ And it came to pass, as he had made an end of speaking all these words, that the ground split asunder that was under them: ³² And the earth opened her mouth, and swallowed them up, and their houses, and all the men that appertained to Korah, and all their goods. ³³ They, and all that appertained to them, went down alive into the pit, and the earth closed on them: And they perished from among the congregation. ³⁴ And all Israel that were all around them fled at the cry of them: For they said, "Lest the earth swallow us up also. ³⁵ And there came out a fire from the LORD, and consumed the two hundred and fifty men that offered incense.

¹ Now the Philistines fought against Israel: And the men of Israel fled from before the Philistines, and fell down slain in Mount Gilboa. ² And the Philistines followed hard upon Saul and upon his sons; and the Philistines slew Jonathan, and Abinadab, and Malchishua, Saul's sons. ³ And the battle went intensely against Saul, and the archers hit him; and he was severely wounded by the archers. ⁴ Then Saul said to his armor-bearer, "Draw your sword, and thrust me through with it; lest these uncircumcised ones come and thrust me through, and abuse me." But his armor-bearer would not; for he was greatly afraid. Therefore Saul took a sword, and fell upon it. ⁵ And when his armor-bearer saw that Saul was dead, he fell likewise upon his sword, and died with him. ⁶ So Saul died, and his three sons, and his armor-bearer, and all his men, that same day together. ⁷ And when the men of Israel that were on the other side of the valley, and those that were on the other side of the Jordan, saw that the men of Israel fled, and that Saul and his sons were dead, they forsook the cities, and fled; and the Philistines came and dwelled in them.

⁷ where the people of Israel were slain before the servants of David, and there was there a great slaughter that day of twenty thousand men. ⁸ For the battle was there scattered over the face of all the country: And the wood devoured more people that day than the sword devoured.

¹⁶ And the children of Israel fled before Judah: And God delivered them into their hand. ¹⁷ And Abijah and his people slew them with a great slaughter: So there fell down slain of Israel five hundred thousand chosen men.

¹¹ Who knows the power of Your anger? Even according to Your fear, so is Your wrath.

¹⁴ The wrath of a king is as messengers of death: But a wise man will pacify it.

² The fear of a king is as the roaring of a lion: Whoever provokes him to anger sins against his own soul.

¹¹ Ephraim is oppressed and broken in judgment, because he willingly walked after the commandment.

¹⁰ I will be your king: Where in all your cities is any other that may save you? And your judges of whom you said, 'Give me a king and princes'? ¹¹ I gave you a king in My anger, and took him away in My wrath.

¹⁵ You shall do no unrighteousness in judgment: You shall not respect the person of the poor, nor honor the person of the mighty: But in righteousness shall you judge your neighbor.

¹⁷ You shall not respect persons in judgment; but you shall hear the small as well as the great; you shall not be afraid of the face of man; for the judgment is God's: And the cause that is too hard for you, bring it to me, and I will hear it.

¹⁹ You shall not wrest judgment; you shall not respect persons, neither take a gift: For a gift does blind the eyes of the wise, and pervert the words of the righteous.

⁷ Why now let the fear of the LORD be upon you; take heed and do it: For there is no iniquity with the LORD our God, nor reverence of persons, nor taking of gifts.

² How long will you judge unjustly, and accept the persons of the wicked? Selah. ³ Defend the poor and fatherless: Do justice to the afflicted and needy. ⁴ Deliver the poor and needy: Deliver them out of the hand of the wicked.

⁴³ Whoever is wise, and will observe these things, even they shall understand the lovingkindness of the LORD.

⁶ To understand a proverb, and the interpretation; the words of the wise, and their dark sayings.

⁵ It is not good to accept the person of the wicked, to overthrow the righteous in judgment.

¹⁷ Bow down your ear, and hear the words of the wise, and apply your heart to my knowledge.

²¹ To have reverence of persons is not good: Because for a piece of bread that man will transgress.

¹ Who is like the wise man? And who knows the interpretation of a thing? A man's wisdom makes his face shine, and the boldness of his face shall be changed.

⁹ Who is wise? He shall understand these things. Who is prudent? He shall know them. For the ways of the LORD are right, and the just shall walk in them: But the transgressors shall stumble and fall in them.

²⁴ Do not judge according to the appearance, but judge righteous judgment."

²⁰ Rebuke those that sin before everyone, that others also may fear. ²¹ I charge you before God, and the Lord Jesus Christ, and the elect angels, that you observe these things without preferring one before another, doing nothing by partiality.

⁴ Are you then not partial within yourselves, and have become judges of evil thoughts? ⁵ Hearken, my beloved brethren, has not God chosen the poor of this world to be rich in faith, and heirs of the kingdom which He has promised to those that love Him? ⁶ But you have despised the poor. Do not rich men oppress you, and draw you before the judgment seats?

¹⁷ But the wisdom that is from above is first pure, then peaceable, gentle, and easy to be entreated, full of mercy and good fruits, without partiality, and without hypocrisy.

¹⁷ And if you call on the Father, who without reverence of persons judges according to every man's work, pass the time of your sojourning here in fear:

⁶ You shall not wrest the judgment of your poor in his court case. ⁷ Keep yourself far from a false matter; and the innocent and righteous won't slay you: For I will not justify the wicked.

²⁶ He that withholds grain, the people shall curse him: But blessing shall be upon the head of him that sells it.

¹⁵ He that justifies the wicked, and he that comdemns the just, even both of them are abomination to the LORD.

²⁷ He that gives to the poor shall not lack: But he that hides his eyes shall have many a curse.

¹⁰ Do not accuse a servant to his master, lest he curse you, and you be found guilty.

²⁰ Woe to those that call evil good, and good evil; that put darkness for light, and light for darkness; that put bitter for sweet, and sweet for bitter!

²³ Who justify the wicked for a bribe, and take away the righteousness of the righteous from him!

²⁴ "And they shall go forth, and look on the carcasses of the men that have transgressed against Me: For their worm shall not die, neither shall their fire be quenched; and they shall be an abhorring to all flesh."

¹³ "For from the least of them even to the greatest of them everyone is given to covetousness; and from the prophet even to the priest everyone deals falsely. ¹⁴ They have also healed the hurt of the daughter of my people only slightly, saying, 'Peace, peace'; when there is no peace.

¹⁷ You shall not hate your brother in your heart: You shall in any wise rebuke your neighbor, and not suffer sin on him.

¹³ For I have told him that I will judge his house forever for the iniquity which he knows; because his sons made themselves vile, and he did not restrain them.

¹⁹ And you shall speak to him, saying, "Thus says the LORD, Have you killed, and also taken possession? And you shall speak to him, saying, "Thus says the LORD, In the place where dogs licked the blood of Naboth shall dogs lick your blood, even yours. ²⁰ And Ahab said to Elijah, "Have you found me, O my enemy? And he answered, I have found you: Because you have sold yourself to work evil in the sight of the LORD.

⁷ Then I consulted with myself, and I rebuked the nobles, and the rulers, and said to them, "You exact usury, every one of his brother. And I set a great assembly against them. ⁸ And I said to them, "We after our ability have redeemed our brothers the Jews, which were sold to the heathen; and will you even sell your brothers? Or shall they be sold to us? Then held they their peace, and found nothing to answer. ⁹ Also I said, "It is not good that you do: Ought you not to walk in the fear of our God because of the reproach of the heathen our enemies?

⁸ And it grieved me sore: Therefore I cast forth all the household stuff to Tobiah out of the chamber. ⁹ Then I commanded, and they cleansed the chambers: And thither brought I again the vessels of the house of God, with the food offering and the frankincense. ¹⁰ And I perceived that the portions of the Levites had not been given them: For the Levites and the singers, that did the work, were fled every one to his field. ¹¹ Then contended I with the rulers, and said, "Why is the house of God forsaken? And I gathered them together, and set them in their place.

¹⁷ Then I contended with the nobles of Judah, and said to them, "What evil thing is this that you do, and profane the Sabbath day?

²⁵ And I contended with them, and cursed them, and smote certain of them, and plucked off their hair, and made them swear by God, saying, "You shall not give your daughters to their sons, nor take their daughters to your sons, or for yourselves.

²⁸ And one of the sons of Joiada, the son of Eliashib the high priest, was son-in-law to Sanballat the Horonite: Therefore I chased him from me.

¹⁶ I was a father to the poor: And the cause which I did not know I searched out. ¹⁷ And I broke the jaws of the wicked, and plucked the spoil out of his teeth. ¹⁸ Then I said, "I shall die in my nest, and I shall multiply my days as the sand.

²³ He that rebukes a man shall afterwards find more favor than he that flatters with the tongue.

⁴ Because John said to him, "It is not lawful for you to have her."

²⁰ Rebuke those that sin before everyone, that others also may fear.

² Preach the word; be at hand in season, out of season; reprove, rebuke, exhort with all longsuffering and doctrine.

¹³ This report is true. Therefore rebuke them sharply, that they may be sound in the faith;

¹⁵ Speak these things, exhort, and rebuke with all authority. Let no man despise you.

And Joseph went out over all the land of Egypt.Zaphnathpaaneah; which in the Coptic signifies, A revealer of secrets, or, The man to whom secrets are revealed ⁴⁶ And Joseph was thirty years old when he stood before Pharaoh king of Egypt. And Joseph went out from the presence of Pharaoh, and went throughout all the land of Egypt. ⁴⁷ And in the seven plenteous years the earth brought forth by handfuls. ⁴⁸ And he gathered up all the food of the seven years, which were in the land of Egypt, and laid up the food in the cities: The food of the field, which was all around every city, he laid up in the same city. ⁴⁹ And Joseph gathered grain as the sand of the sea, very much, until he left off numbering; for it was without number. ⁵⁰ And to Joseph two sons were born before the years of famine came, which Asenath, the daughter of Potipherah, priest of On, bore to him. ⁵¹ And Joseph called the name of the firstborn Manasseh: "For God," he said, "has made me forget all my toil, and all my father's house."Manasseh; that is, Forgetting ⁵² And the name of the second he called Ephraim: "For God has caused me to be fruitful in the land of my affliction."Ephraim; that is, Fruitful ⁵³ And the seven years of plentifulness, that was in the land of Egypt, were now ended. ⁵⁴ And the seven years of dearth began to come, according to as Joseph had said: And the dearth was in all lands; but in all the land of Egypt there was bread. ⁵⁵ And when all the land of Egypt was famished, the people cried out to Pharaoh for bread: And Pharaoh said to all the Egyptians, "Go to Joseph; what he says to you, do." ⁵⁶ And the famine was over all the face of the earth: And Joseph opened all the storehouses, and sold to the Egyptians; and the famine waxed very grievous in the land of Egypt. ⁵⁷ And all countries came into Egypt to Joseph in quest of buying grain; because the famine was so grievous in all lands.

²⁵ How forcible are right words! But what does your arguing reprove?

²³ A man has joy by the answer of his mouth: And a word spoken in due season, how good it is!

¹ The preparations of the heart in man, and the answer of the tongue, is from the LORD.

¹¹ A word fitly spoken is like apples of gold in pictures of silver. ¹² As an earring of gold, and an ornament of fine gold, so is a wise reprover upon an obedient ear.

⁴⁶ Then the king Nebuchadnezzar fell upon his face, and worshiped Daniel, and commanded that they should offer an oblation and sweet odors to him. ⁴⁷ The king answered to Daniel, and said, "It is true that your God is a God of gods, and a Lord of kings, and a revealer of secrets, seeing you could reveal this secret." ⁴⁸ Then the king made Daniel a great man, and gave him many great gifts, and made him ruler over the whole province of Babylon, and chief of the governors over all the wise men of Babylon.

¹⁷ And Jesus answering said to them, "Render to Caesar the things that are Caesar's, and to God the things that are God's." And they marveled at Him. ¹⁸ Then the Sadducees came to Him, who say there is no resurrection; and they asked Him, saying,

³² Therefore the scribe said to Him, "Well said, Master, You have spoken the truth: For there is one God; and there is no other but He: ³³ And to love Him with all the heart, with all the understanding, with all the soul, and with all the strength, and to love his neighbor as himself, is more than all whole burnt offerings and sacrifices." ³⁴ Then when Jesus saw that he answered prudently, He said to him, "You are not far from the kingdom of God." ⁹ Then Doeg the Edomite answered, who was set over the servants of Saul, and said, "I saw the son of Jesse coming to Nob, to Ahimelech the son of Ahitub. ¹⁰ And he inquired of the LORD for him, and gave him food, and gave him the sword of Goliath the Philistine."

⁹ And she wrote in the letters, saying, "Proclaim a fast, and set Naboth on high among the people: ¹⁰ And set two men, sons of Belial, before him, to bear witness against him, saying, "You did blaspheme God and the king. And then carry him out, and stone him, that he may die. ¹¹ And the men of his city, even the elders and the nobles who were the inhabitants in his city, did as Jezebel had sent to them, and as it was written in the letters which she had sent to them. ¹² They proclaimed a fast, and set Naboth on high among the people. ¹³ And there came in two men, children of Belial, and sat before him: And the men of Belial witnessed against him, even against Naboth, in the presence of the people, saying, "Naboth did blaspheme God and the king. Then they carried him forth out of the city, and stoned him with stones, that he died.

³ And the LORD said to Satan, "Have you considered my servant Job, that there is none like him in the earth, a perfect and an upright man, one that fears God, and eschews evil? And still he holds fast his integrity, although you moved me against him, to destroy him without cause.

⁷ For without cause they have hid their net in a pit for me, and without cause they have dug for my soul.

¹¹ False witnesses rose up; they laid to my charge things that I did not know about.

¹ To the chief Musician, Maschil, A Psalm of David, when Doeg the Edomite came and told Saul, and said unto him, "David has come to the house of Ahimelech." Why do you boast about yourself in mischief, O mighty man? The goodness of God endures continually.

⁵ A faithful witness will not lie: But a false witness will utter lies.

⁵ A false witness shall not be unpunished, and he that speaks lies shall not escape.

⁹ A false witness shall not be unpunished, and he that speaks lies shall perish.

²⁸ A false witness shall perish: But the man that hears speaks constantly.

¹⁸ A man that bears false witness against his neighbor is a maul, and a sword, and a sharp arrow.

⁵⁹ Now the chief priests, elders, and all the council sought false witness against Jesus, to put Him to death; ⁶⁰ but found none: Yes, though many false witnesses came, yet they found none. Finally two false witnesses came,

²³ And the governor said, "Why, what evil has He done?" But they cried out all the more, saying, "Let Him be crucified."

²⁵ But this came to pass, that the word might be fulfilled which is written in their law, 'They hated Me without a cause.'

²⁵ Therefore, putting away lying, "every man speak truth with his neighbor": For we are members of one another.

⁹ Do not lie to one another, seeing that you all have put off the old man with his deeds;you all: In KJV, ye; hence "you all" signifies a plural "you"

⁸ But the fearful, unbelieving, the abominable, murderers, whoremongers, sorcerers, idolaters, and all liars, shall have their part in the lake which burns with fire and brimstone: Which is the second death."

¹⁵ For outside are dogs, and sorcerers, and whoremongers, and murderers, and idolaters, and whoever loves and fabricates a lie.

¹¹ Then three thousand men of Judah went to the top of the rock Etam, and said to Samson, "Do you not know that the Philistines are rulers over us? What is this that you have done to us?" And he said to them, "As they did to me, so I have done to them."

²² And Absalom spoke to his brother Amnon neither good nor bad: For Absalom hated Amnon, because he had forced his sister Tamar. ²³ And it came to pass after two full years, that Absalom had sheep shearers in Baalhazor, which is beside Ephraim: And Absalom invited all the king's sons. ²⁴ And Absalom came to the king, and said, "Behold now, your servant has sheep shearers; let the king, I beseech you, and his servants go with your servant. ²⁵ And the king said to Absalom, "No, my son, let us not all now go, lest we be chargeable to you. And he pressed him: However, he would not go, but blessed him. ²⁶ Then said Absalom, If not, I implore you, let my brother Amnon go with us. And the king said to him, "Why should he go with you? ²⁷ But Absalom pressed him, that he let Amnon and all the king's sons go with him. ²⁸ Now Absalom had commanded his servants, saying, "Mark you now when Amnon's heart is merry with wine, and when I say to you, Smite Amnon; then kill him, fear not: Have I not commanded you? Be courageous, and be valiant.

²² Do not say, "I will recompense evil"; but wait on the LORD, and He shall save you.

²¹ If your enemy is hungry, give him bread to eat; and if he is thirsty, give him water to drink: ²² For you shall heap coals of fire upon his head, and the LORD shall reward you.

³⁹ But I say to you, That you are not to resist evil: But whoever smites you on your right cheek, turn to him the other also. ⁴⁰ And if any man will sue you at the court of law, and take away your coat, let him have your cloak also. ⁴¹ And whoever compels you to go a mile, go with him two. ⁴² Give to him that asks you, and from him that would desire to borrow from you do not turn away. ⁴³ You have heard that it has been said, 'You shall love your neighbor, and hate your enemy.' ⁴⁴ But I say to you, Love your enemies, bless those that curse you, do good to those that hate you, and pray for those who despitefully use you, and persecute you;

¹⁷ Recompense to no man evil for evil. Provide things honestly in the sight of all men. ¹⁸ If it is possible, as much as rests with you, live peaceably with all men. ¹⁹ Dearly beloved, do not avenge yourselves, but rather give place to wrath: For it is written, "Vengeance is Mine; I will repay", says the Lord. ²⁰ Therefore "If your enemy hungers, feed him; if he thirsts, give him a drink: For in so doing you shall heap coals of fire upon his head." ²¹ Do not be overcome by evil, but overcome evil with good.

¹⁵ See that no one renders evil for evil to any man; but ever follow that which is good, both among yourselves, and to all men.

⁸ Even as I have seen, those that plow iniquity, and sow wickedness, reap the same.

²⁷ See this, we have searched it, so it is; hear it, and know you it for your good.

¹⁷ I will show you, hear me; and that which I have seen I will declare;

²⁵ I have been young, and now am old; yet I have not seen the righteous forsaken, nor his seed begging bread.

⁴² The righteous shall see it, and rejoice: And all iniquity shall stop her mouth.

⁶ Go to the ant, you sluggard; consider her ways, and be wise: ⁷ Which having no guide, overseer, or ruler, ⁸ provides her meat in the summer, and gathers her food in the harvest. ⁹ How long will you sleep, O sluggard? When will you arise out of your sleep? ¹⁰ Yet a little sleep, a little slumber, a little folding of the hands to sleep: ¹¹ So shall your poverty come as one that travels abroad, and your want as an armed man. ¹² A naughty person, a wicked man, walks with a froward mouth. ¹³ He winks with his eyes, he speaks with his feet, he teaches with his fingers; ¹⁴ frowardness is in his heart, he devises mischief continually; he sows discord. ¹⁵ Therefore his calamity shall come suddenly; suddenly he shall be broken without remedy. ¹⁶ These six things the LORD hates: Yes, seven are an abomination to Him: ¹⁷ A proud look, a lying tongue, and hands that shed innocent blood, ¹⁸ a heart that devises wicked imaginations, feet that are swift in running to mischief, ¹⁹ a false witness that speaks lies, and he that sows discord among brethren.

³² But whoever commits adultery with a woman lacks understanding: He that does it destroys his own soul.

¹³ In the lips of him that has understanding wisdom is found: But a rod is for the back of him that is void of understanding.

¹¹ He that tills his land shall be satisfied with bread: But he that follows vain persons is void of understanding.

¹ So I returned, and considered all the oppressions that are done under the sun: And behold the tears of such as were oppressed, and they had no comforter; and on the side of their oppressors there was power; but they had no comforter. ² Therefore I praised the dead which are already dead more than the living which are yet alive. ³ Yes, better than both is he, who has not yet existed, who has not seen the evil work that is done under the sun. ⁴ Again, I considered all travail, and every right work, that for this a man is envied by his neighbor. This also is vanity and vexation of spirit. ⁵ The fool folds his hands together, and eats his own flesh. ⁶ Better is a handful with quietness, than both hands full with travail and vexation of spirit. ⁷ Then I returned, and I saw vanity under the sun. ⁸ There is one alone, and there is not a second; yes, he has neither child nor brother: Yet there is no end of all his labor; neither is his eye satisfied with riches; neither has he said, "For whom do I labor, and bereave my soul of good?" This also is vanity, yes, it is a sore travail.

¹⁵ I have seen all things in the days of my vanity: There is a just man that perishes in his righteousness, and there is a wicked man that prolongs his life in his wickedness.

⁹ All this I have seen, and applied my heart to every work that is done under the sun: There is a time in which one man rules over another to his own hurt. ¹⁰ And so I saw the wicked buried, who had come and gone from the place of the holy, and they were forgotten in the city where they had so done: This also is vanity. ¹¹ Because sentence against an evil work is not executed speedily, therefore the heart of the sons of men is fully set in them to do evil.

¹⁷ And to Adam He said, "Because you have hearkened to the voice of your wife, and have eaten of the tree, of which I commanded you, saying, 'You shall not eat of it': Cursed is the ground for your sake; in sorrow you shall eat of it all the days of your life; ¹⁸ it shall also bring forth thorns and thistles to you; and you shall eat the herb of the field; ¹⁹ in the sweat of your face you shall eat bread, until you return to the ground; for out of it you were taken: For dust you are, and to dust you shall return."

⁴⁰ Let thistles grow instead of wheat, and cockle instead of barley. The words of Job are ended.

²³ The fear of the LORD tends to life: And he that has it shall abide satisfied; he shall not be visited with evil.

⁴ The sluggard will not plow by reason of the cold; therefore he shall beg in harvest, and have nothing.

¹³ The slothful man says, "There is a lion outside, I shall be slain in the streets."

²¹ For the drunkard and the glutton shall come to poverty: And drowsiness shall clothe a man with rags.

¹⁸ By much slothfulness the building decays; and through idleness of the hands the house drops leaks.

⁵ And now come; I will tell you what I will do to My vineyard: I will take away its hedge, and it shall be eaten up; and break down the wall of it, and it shall be trodden down:

³ For thus says the LORD to the men of Judah and Jerusalem, "Break up your fallow ground, and do not sow among thorns.

⁷ And some fell among thorns; and the thorns sprung up, and choked them:

²² He that received seed among the thorns is also he that hears the word; and the cares of this world, and the deceitfulness of riches choke the word, and he becomes unfruitful.

⁸ But that which bears thorns and briers is rejected, and is near to being cursed; whose end is to be burned.

¹¹ And all Israel shall hear, and fear, and shall do no more any such wickedness as this is among you.

²¹ And all the men of his city shall stone him with stones, that he die: So shall you put evil away from among you; and all Israel shall hear, and fear.

²⁹ O that they were wise, that they understood this, that they would consider their latter end!

¹⁷ What is man, that you should magnify him? And that you should set your heart on him?

⁴ Stand in awe, and do not sin: Commune with your own heart on your bed, and be still. Selah.

¹⁹ But Mary kept all these things, and pondered them in her heart.

⁵¹ Then He went down with them, and came to Nazareth, and was subject to them: But His mother kept all these sayings in her heart.

⁶ Now these things were our examples, to the intent that we should not lust after evil things, as they also lusted.

¹¹ Now all these things happened to them as examples: And they are written for our admonition, upon whom the ends of the world has come.

⁵ Therefore I will put you in remembrance, though you once knew this, how the Lord, having saved the people out of the land of Egypt, afterward destroyed those that did not believe. ⁶ And the angels which did not keep their first estate, but left their own habitation, He has reserved in everlasting chains under darkness for the judgment of the great day. ⁷ Even as Sodom and Gomorrah, and the cities all around them in like manner, giving themselves over to fornication, and going after strange flesh, are set forth as an example, suffering the vengeance of eternal fire.

⁴ Do not give sleep to your eyes, nor slumber to your eyelids. ⁵ Deliver yourself as a gazelle from the hand of the hunter, and as a bird from the hand of the fowler. ⁶ Go to the ant, you sluggard; consider her ways, and be wise: ⁷ Which having no guide, overseer, or ruler, ⁸ provides her meat in the summer, and gathers her food in the harvest. ⁹ How long will you sleep, O sluggard? ¹¹ Also this, knowing the time, that now it is high time to awake out of sleep: For now our salvation is nearer than when we believed.

¹⁴ Therefore He says: "Awake, you that sleep, and arise from the dead, and Christ shall give you light."

⁶ Therefore let us not sleep, as others do; but let us watch and be sober. ⁷ For those who sleep, sleep in the night; and those who are drunk, are drunk in the night. ⁸ But let us, who are of the day, be sober, putting on the breastplate of faith and love; and for a helmet, the hope of salvation.

⁴ He that deals with a slack hand becomes poor: But the hand of the diligent makes rich.

⁴ The soul of the sluggard desires, and has nothing: But the soul of the diligent shall be made fat.
