¹⁹ You give your mouth to evil, and your tongue frames deceit.

⁹ For there is no faithfulness in their mouth; their inward part is truly wickedness; their throat is an open sepulcher; they flatter with their tongue.

⁷ His mouth is full of cursing and deceit and fraud: Under his tongue is mischief and vanity.

² They speak vanity, everyone with his neighbor: With flattering lips and with a double heart they speak. ³ The LORD shall cut off all flattering lips, and the tongue that speaks proud things:

³ The words of his mouth are iniquity and deceit: He has forsaken to be wise, and to do good. ⁴ He devises mischief upon his bed; he sets himself in a way that is not good; he does not abhor evil.

² The tongue devises mischiefs; like a sharp razor, working deceitfully. ³ You love evil more than good; and lying rather than to speak righteousness. Selah. ⁴ You love all devouring words, O you deceitful tongue.

¹² For it was not an enemy that reproached me; then I could have borne it: Neither was it he who hated me that magnified himself against me; then I would have hid myself from him:

²¹ The words of his mouth were smoother than butter, but war was in his heart: His words were softer than oil, yet they were drawn swords.

³ Who whet their tongue like a sword, and bend their bows to shoot their arrows, even bitter words: ⁴ That they may shoot in secret at the perfect: Suddenly do they shoot at him, and fear not. ⁵ They encourage themselves in an evil matter: They commune in discourse of laying snares privately; they say, "Who shall see them?

³ For your hands are defiled with blood, and your fingers with iniquity; your lips have spoken lies, your tongue has muttered perverseness. ⁴ No one calls for justice, nor does anyone plead for truth: They trust in vanity, and speak lies; they conceive mischief, and bring forth vanity.

⁵ And everyone will deceive his neighbor, and will not speak the truth: They have taught their tongue to speak lies, and weary themselves to commit iniquity.

² By swearing, and lying, and killing, and stealing, and committing adultery, they break out, and blood touches blood.

⁵ Even so the tongue is a little member, and boasts great things. Behold, how great a matter a little fire kindles! ⁶ And the tongue is a fire, a world of iniquity: Thus is the tongue among our members, that it defiles the whole body, and sets on fire the course of nature; and it is set on fire of hell. ⁷ For every kind of beast, and birds, serpents, and things in the sea are tamed, and have been tamed by mankind: ⁸ But no man can tame the tongue; it is an unruly evil, full of deadly poison. ⁹ With it we bless God, even the Father; and with it we curse men, who are made in the similitude of God.

⁸ But the fearful, unbelieving, the abominable, murderers, whoremongers, sorcerers, idolaters, and all liars, shall have their part in the lake which burns with fire and brimstone: Which is the second death."
