Hear my voice, O God, in my prayer: Preserve my life from fear of the enemy. ² Hide me from the secret counsel of the ungodly; from the insurrection of the workers of iniquity: ³ Who whet their tongue like a sword, and bend their bows to shoot their arrows, even bitter words: ⁴ That they may shoot in secret at the perfect: Suddenly do they shoot at him, and fear not. ⁵ They encourage themselves in an evil matter: They commune in discourse of laying snares privately; they say, "Who shall see them? ⁶ They search out iniquities; they accomplish a diligent search: Both the inward thought of every one of them, and the heart, is deep. ⁷ But God shall shoot at them with an arrow; suddenly they shall be wounded. ⁸ So they shall make their own tongue to fall upon themselves: All that see them shall flee away. ⁹ And all men shall fear, and shall declare the work of God; for they shall wisely consider of His doing. ¹⁰ The righteous shall be glad in the LORD, and shall trust in Him; and all the upright in heart shall glory.

⁸ Keep me as the apple of the eye, hide me under the shadow of Your wings, ⁹ from the wicked that oppress me, from my deadly enemies, who compass around me.

⁷ Hear, O LORD, when I cry with my voice: Have mercy upon me also, and answer me.

¹³ For I have heard the slander of many: Fear was on every side: While they took counsel together against me, they devised to take away my life. ¹⁴ But I trusted in You, O LORD: I said, "You are my God. ¹⁵ My times are in Your hand: Deliver me from the hand of my enemies, and from those that persecute me.

⁴ I sought the LORD, and He heard me, and delivered me from all my fears.

² My enemies would daily swallow me up: For they are many that fight against me, O most High. ³ Each time I am afraid, I will trust in You. ⁴ In God I will praise His word, in God I have put my trust; I will not fear what flesh can do to me.

Hear my prayer, O LORD, give ear to my supplications: In Your faithfulness answer me, and in Your righteousness. ² And do not enter into judgment with Your servant: For in Your sight no man living shall be justified. ³ For the enemy has persecuted my soul; he has beaten my life down to the ground; he has made me dwell in darkness, as those that have been long dead.

⁵⁵ I called on Your name, O LORD, out of the low dungeon. ⁵⁶ You have heard my voice: Hide not Your ear at my breathing, at my cry.

⁹ Then the Lord spoke to Paul in the night by a vision, "Do not be afraid, but speak, and do not hold your peace: ¹⁰ For I am with you, and no man shall lay hold on you to hurt you: For I have many people in this city."

²⁴ saying, 'Fear not, Paul; you must be brought before Caesar: And look, God has given you all those who sail with you.'

⁶ And the LORD said to Cain, "Why are you wroth? And why has your countenance fallen?

²² Go, I implore you, even yet prepare, and know and see his place, where his haunt is; and who has seen him there: For it was told to me that he deals very subtly. ²³ See therefore, and take knowledge of all the lurking places where he hides himself, and come back again to me with all certainty, and I will go with you: And it shall come to pass, if he is in the land, that I will search him out throughout all the thousands of Judah."

² And I will come on him while he is weary and weak handed, and will make him afraid: And all the people that are with him shall flee; and I will smite the king only: ³ And I will bring back all the people to you: The man whom you seek is as if all returned: So all the people shall be in peace. ⁴ And the saying pleased Absalom well, and all the elders of Israel.

² The kings of the earth set themselves, and the rulers take counsel together, against the LORD, and against His anointed, saying,

¹ A Psalm of David, when he fled from Absalom his son. LORD, how those that trouble me are increased in number! Many are those that rise up against me.

⁵ For in the time of trouble He shall hide me in His pavilion: In the secret of His tabernacle He shall hide me; He shall set me upon a rock.

²⁰ You shall hide them in the secret of Your presence from the pride of man: You shall keep them secretly in a pavilion from the strife of tongues.

⁶ They gather themselves together, they hide themselves, they mark my steps, when they wait for my soul.

² Deliver me from the workers of iniquity, and save me from bloody men.

² for the mouth of the wicked and the mouth of the deceitful are opened against me: They have spoken against me with a lying tongue. ³ They compassed me all around with words of hatred; and fought against me without a cause.

⁹ Deliver me, O LORD, from my enemies: I flee to You to hide me.

² And a man shall be like a hiding place from the wind, and a covert from the tempest; as rivers of water in a dry place, as the shadow of a great rock in a weary land.

¹⁹ But I was like a lamb or an ox that is brought to the slaughter; and did not I know that they had devised devices against me, saying, 'Let us destroy the tree with its fruit, and let us cut him off from the land of the living, that his name may not be remembered anymore.'

²³ Yet, LORD, you know all their counsel against me to slay me: Do not forgive their iniquity, neither blot out their sin from Your sight, but let them be overthrown before You; deal thus with them in the time of Your anger."

³ Then the chief priests, the scribes, and the elders of the people assembled together at the palace of the high priest, who was called Caiaphas, ⁴ and consulted that they might take Jesus through cunning, and kill Him.

¹⁸ But they cried out all at once, saying, "Away with this Man, and release to us Barabbas": ¹⁹ (Who was cast into prison for a certain insurrection made in the city, and for murder.) ²⁰ Pilate therefore, willing to release Jesus, spoke to them again. ²¹ But they cried out, saying, "Crucify Him, crucify Him." ²² Now he said to them the third time, "Why, what evil has He done? I have found no cause for death in Him: I will therefore chastise Him, and let Him go." ²³ But they were urgent with loud voices, requiring that He might be crucified. And the voices of them and of the chief priests prevailed.

¹⁴ And they came to the chief priests and elders, and said, "We have bound ourselves under a great curse, that we will eat nothing until we have slain Paul. ¹⁵ Now you, therefore, together with the council, signify to the chief captain that he bring him down to you tomorrow, as though you would inquire something more perfectly concerning him: And we are ready to kill him whenever he comes near."

³ and desired a favor against him, that he would send him to Jerusalem, while they are laying in wait by the road to kill him.

² For lo, the wicked bend their bow, they make ready their arrow upon the string, that they may privately shoot at the upright in heart.

⁴ My soul is among lions: And I lie even among those that are set on fire, even the sons of men, whose teeth are spears and arrows, and their tongue a sharp sword.

⁷ Let them melt away as waters which run continually: When he bends his bow to shoot his arrows, let them be as cut in pieces.

¹⁸ There is that which speaks like the piercings of a sword: But the tongue of the wise is health.

¹⁴ There is a generation, whose teeth are as swords, and their jaw teeth as knives, to devour the poor from off the earth, and the needy from among men.

¹⁷ No weapon that is formed against you shall prosper; and every tongue that shall rise against you in judgment you shall condemn. This is the heritage of the servants of the LORD, and their righteousness is from Me", said the LORD.

³ "And like their bow they bend their tongues for lies: But they are not valiant for the truth upon the earth; for they proceed from evil to evil, and they do not know me", said the LORD.

⁶ And the tongue is a fire, a world of iniquity: Thus is the tongue among our members, that it defiles the whole body, and sets on fire the course of nature; and it is set on fire of hell. ⁷ For every kind of beast, and birds, serpents, and things in the sea are tamed, and have been tamed by mankind: ⁸ But no man can tame the tongue; it is an unruly evil, full of deadly poison.

¹¹ And Saul cast the javelin; for he said, "I will smite David with it, even to the wall." And David evaded out of his presence twice.

¹⁰ And Saul sought to smite David with the javelin, even to the wall: But he slipped away out of Saul's presence, and he smote the javelin into the wall: And David fled, and escaped that night.

¹⁴ And David said to all his servants that were with him at Jerusalem, Arise, and let us flee; for we shall not else escape from Absalom: Make speed to depart, lest he overtake us suddenly, and bring evil on us, and smite the city with the edge of the sword.

¹¹ And our adversaries said, "They shall not know, neither see, till we come in the middle among them, and slay them, and cause the work to cease.

⁸ He sits in the lurking places of the villages: In the secret places he murders the innocent: His eyes are privately set against the poor. ⁹ He lies in wait secretly as a lion in his den: He lies in wait to catch the poor: He does catch the poor, when he draws him into his net.

¹⁹ God shall hear, and afflict them, even He that abides of old. Selah. Because they have no changes, therefore they do not fear God.

³ For lo, they lie in wait for my soul: The mighty are gathered against me; not for my transgression, nor for my sin, O LORD. ⁴ They run and prepare themselves without me even being at fault: Awake to help me, and behold.help: In Hebrew, meet

⁷ But God shall shoot at them with an arrow; suddenly they shall be wounded.

¹⁴ You struck through the head of his villages with his staffs: They came out as a whirlwind to scatter me: Their rejoicing was to even devour the poor secretly.

⁶ Therefore when the chief priests and officers saw Him, they cried out, saying, "Crucify Him, crucify Him." Pilate said to them, "You take Him, and crucify Him: For I find no fault in Him."

²² "Who did no sin, neither was guile found in His mouth": ²³ Who, when He was reviled, did not revile in return; when He suffered, He did not threaten; but committed Himself to Him that judges righteously:

⁹ The enemy said, 'I will pursue, I will overtake, I will divide the spoil; my lust shall be satisfied upon them; I will draw my sword, my hand shall destroy them.'

⁶ Come now therefore, I implore you, curse me this people; for they are too mighty for me: Peradventure I shall prevail, that we may smite them, and that I may drive them out of the land: For I know that he whom you bless is blessed, and he whom you curse is cursed.

¹⁹ Then the Ziphites came up to Saul at Gibeah, saying, "Does David not hide himself with us in secure places in the woods, in the hill of Hachilah, which is on the south of Jeshimon? ²⁰ Now therefore, O king, come down according to all the desire of your soul to come down; and our part shall be to deliver him into the king's hand." ²¹ And Saul said, "Blessed be you of the LORD; for you have compassion on me.

¹³ And you say, "How does God know? Can he judge through the dark cloud?

¹¹ He has said in his heart, "God has forgotten: He hides His face; He will never see it."

⁷ Behold, they belch out with their mouth: Swords are in their lips: They say, "Who can hear?"

⁷ Yet they say, "The LORD shall not see, nor shall the God of Jacob regard it."

⁷ Our soul has escaped as a bird out of the snare of the fowlers: The snare is broken, and we have escaped.

⁵ The proud have hid a snare for me, and cords; they have spread a net by the wayside; they have set traps for me. Selah.

¹¹ If they say, "Come with us, let us lay in wait for blood, let us lurk privately for the innocent without cause: ¹² Let us swallow them up alive as the grave; and whole, as those that go down into the pit: ¹³ We shall find all precious substance, we shall fill our houses with spoil: ¹⁴ Cast in your lot among us; let us all have one purse":

⁶ Everyone helped his neighbor; and everyone said to his brother, "Be of good courage."

¹² Then He said to me, "Son of man, have you seen what the elders of the house of Israel do in the dark, every man in the chambers of his imagery? For they say, 'the LORD does not see us; the LORD has forsaken the earth.' "

¹⁵ Woe to you, scribes and Pharisees, hypocrites! For you compass sea and land to make one proselyte, and when he is made, you make him twofold more the child of hell than yourselves.

¹⁰ And those that dwell upon the earth shall rejoice over them, and make merry, and shall send gifts to one another; because these two prophets tormented those that dwelt on the earth.

⁹ Then Doeg the Edomite answered, who was set over the servants of Saul, and said, "I saw the son of Jesse coming to Nob, to Ahimelech the son of Ahitub.

⁹ And David said to Saul, "Why do you listen to men's words, who say, 'Behold, David seeks your hurt'?

¹⁰ And Nabal answered David's servants, and said, "Who is David? And who is the son of Jesse? There are many servants now a days, certain men, that break away from their master.

⁹ For there is no faithfulness in their mouth; their inward part is truly wickedness; their throat is an open sepulcher; they flatter with their tongue.

¹¹ False witnesses rose up; they laid to my charge things that I did not know about.

¹¹ Their inward thought is, that their houses shall continue forever, and their dwelling places to all generations; they call their lands after their own names.

⁵ Counsel in the heart of man is like deep water; but a man of understanding will draw it out.

¹⁵ Woe to those who seek deep to hide their counsel from the LORD, and their works are in the dark, and they say, "Who sees us?" and "Who knows us?"

⁹ The heart is deceitful above all things, and desperately wicked: Who can know it? ¹⁰ I, the LORD, search the heart, I test the mind, even to give every man according to his ways, and according to the fruit of his doings.

⁴ Then the presidents and princes sought to find occasion against Daniel concerning the kingdom; but they could find no occasion nor fault; because he was faithful, neither was there any error or fault found in him. ⁵ Then these men said, "We shall not find any occasion against this Daniel, except if we find it against him concerning the law of his God."

⁵⁹ Now the chief priests, elders, and all the council sought false witness against Jesus, to put Him to death;

²⁹ Pilate then went out to them, and said, "What accusation do you bring against this Man?" ³⁰ They answered and said to him, "If He were not a malefactor, we would not have delivered Him up to you."

⁷ The Jews answered him, "We have a law, and by our law He ought to die, because He made Himself the Son of God."

⁵ Therefore judge nothing before the time, until the Lord comes, who will both bring to light the hidden things of darkness, and will make manifest the counsels of the hearts: And then every man shall have praise from God.

²³ I will heap mischiefs on them; I will spend my arrows on them.

⁴² I will make my arrows drunk with blood, and my sword shall devour flesh; and that with the blood of the slain and of the captives, from the beginning of revenges on the enemy.

³⁴ And a certain man drew a bow at a venture, and smote the king of Israel between the joints of the harness: Why he said to the driver of his chariot, Turn your hand, and carry me out of the host; for I am wounded.

³ And the battle went sore against Saul, and the archers hit him, and he was wounded of the archers. ⁴ Then said Saul to his armor-bearer, Draw your sword, and thrust me through therewith; lest these uncircumcised come and abuse me. But his armor-bearer would not; for he was severely afraid. So Saul took a sword, and fell on it. ⁵ And when his armor-bearer saw that Saul was dead, he fell likewise on the sword, and died. ⁶ So Saul died, and his three sons, and all his house died together. ⁷ And when all the men of Israel that were in the valley saw that they fled, and that Saul and his sons were dead, then they forsook their cities, and fled: And the Philistines came and dwelled in them.

⁴ For the arrows of the Almighty are within me, the poison whereof drinks up my spirit: The terrors of God do set themselves in array against me.

¹² If he does not turn, He will whet his sword; He has bent His bow, and made it ready. ¹³ He has also prepared for Himself the instruments of death; He ordains His arrows against the persecutors.

¹⁴ Yes, He sent out His arrows, and scattered them; and He shot out lightning, and discomfited them.

⁴ That they may shoot in secret at the perfect: Suddenly do they shoot at him, and fear not.

¹⁹ How are they brought into desolation, as in a moment! They are utterly consumed with terrors.

¹⁵ Therefore his calamity shall come suddenly; suddenly he shall be broken without remedy.

¹ He, that often being reproved hardens his neck, shall suddenly be destroyed, and that without remedy.

¹³ Therefore this iniquity shall be to you as a breach ready to fall, swelling out in a high wall, whose breaking comes suddenly in an instant."

¹² He has bent His bow, and set me as a mark for the arrow. ¹³ He has caused the arrows of His quiver to enter into my reins.

⁴⁰ Then two shall be in the field; the one shall be taken, and the other left.

⁵⁰ the lord of that servant shall come on a day when he is not looking for him, and at an hour that he is not aware of, ⁵¹ and shall cut him apart, and appoint him his portion with the hypocrites: There shall be weeping and gnashing of teeth.

² For you yourselves know perfectly that the day of the Lord comes as a thief in the night. ³ For when they shall say, "Peace and safety"; then sudden destruction comes upon them, as travail upon a woman with child; and they shall not escape.

³⁴ And all Israel that were all around them fled at the cry of them: For they said, "Lest the earth swallow us up also.

³ And the battle went intensely against Saul, and the archers hit him; and he was severely wounded by the archers. ⁴ Then Saul said to his armor-bearer, "Draw your sword, and thrust me through with it; lest these uncircumcised ones come and thrust me through, and abuse me." But his armor-bearer would not; for he was greatly afraid. Therefore Saul took a sword, and fell upon it. ⁵ And when his armor-bearer saw that Saul was dead, he fell likewise upon his sword, and died with him. ⁶ So Saul died, and his three sons, and his armor-bearer, and all his men, that same day together. ⁷ And when the men of Israel that were on the other side of the valley, and those that were on the other side of the Jordan, saw that the men of Israel fled, and that Saul and his sons were dead, they forsook the cities, and fled; and the Philistines came and dwelled in them.

⁶ Your own mouth condemns you, and not I: Yes, your own lips testify against you.

³ When my enemies are turned back, they shall fall and perish at Your presence.

⁷ All those that see Me laugh Me to scorn: They shoot out the lip, they shake the head, saying,

¹¹ I was a reproach among all my enemies, but especially among my neighbors, and a fear to my acquaintances: Those that saw me outside fled from me.

⁶ The righteous also shall see, and fear, and shall laugh at him:

¹² For the sin of their mouth and the words of their lips let them be taken even in their pride: And for the cursing and lying which they speak.

⁹ "As for the head of those that compass around me, let the mischief of their own lips cover them.

¹³ The wicked is snared by the transgression of his lips: But the just shall come out of trouble.

⁷ A fool's mouth is his destruction, and his lips are the snare of his soul.

¹⁶ to make their land desolate, and a perpetual hissing; everyone that passes by it shall be astonished, and wag his head.

²⁷ For was not Israel a derision to you? Was he found among thieves? For since you spoke of him, you skipped for joy.

⁷ And it shall come to pass, that all those that look upon you shall flee from you, and say, 'Nineveh is laid waste: Who will bemoan her?' From where shall I seek comforters for you?"

⁴¹ They said to Him, "He will miserably destroy those wicked men, and will lease out his vineyard to other vinedressers, which shall give him the fruits in their seasons."

²² And he said to him, 'Out of your own mouth I will judge you, you wicked servant. You knew that I was an austere man, taking up that which I did not lay down, and reaping what I did not sow:

⁴ And I heard another voice from heaven, saying, "Come out of her, my people, that you are not partakers of her sins, and that you do not receive of her plagues.

¹⁰ standing afar off for the fear of her torment, saying, 'Alas, alas, that great city Babylon, that mighty city! For in one hour your judgment has come.'

³ And He has put a new song in my mouth, even praise to our God: Many shall see it, and fear, and shall trust in the LORD.

⁵ There they were in great fear, where no fear was: For God has scattered the bones of him that encamps against you: You have put them to shame, because God has despised them.

¹¹ So that a man shall say, "Truly there is a reward for the righteous: Truly He is a God that judges in the earth."

⁴² The righteous shall see it, and rejoice: And all iniquity shall stop her mouth. ⁴³ Whoever is wise, and will observe these things, even they shall understand the lovingkindness of the LORD.

²⁰ My soul breaks for the longing that it has for Your judgments at all times.

¹² And the harp, and the viol, the tambourine, and pipe, and wine, are in their feasts: But they do not regard the work of the LORD, neither consider the operation of His hands.

²⁸ The voice of those who flee and escape out of the land of Babylon, to declare in Zion the vengeance of the LORD our God, the vengeance of His temple.

¹⁰ The LORD has brought forth our righteousness: Come, and let us declare in Zion the work of the LORD our God.

²³ And they shall comfort you, when you see their ways and their doings: And you shall know that I have not done all that I have done in it without cause", said the Lord GOD.

⁹ Who is wise? He shall understand these things. Who is prudent? He shall know them. For the ways of the LORD are right, and the just shall walk in them: But the transgressors shall stumble and fall in them.

¹³ And the same hour there was a strong earthquake, and a tenth of the city fell, and in the earthquake seven thousand men were slain: And the remnant were frightened, and gave glory to the God of heaven.

¹⁹ The righteous see it, and are glad: And the innocent laugh them to scorn.

¹ To the chief Musician, A Psalm of David. In the LORD I put my trust: How do you say to my soul, "Flee as a bird to your mountain"?

²⁰ O keep my soul, and deliver me: Let me not be ashamed; for I put my trust in You.

¹¹ Be glad in the LORD, and rejoice, all you righteous: And shout for joy, all you that are upright in heart.

¹⁰ The righteous shall rejoice when he sees the vengeance: He shall wash his feet in the blood of the wicked.

² As smoke is driven away, so drive them away: As wax melts before the fire, so let the wicked perish at the presence of God. ³ But let the righteous be glad; let them rejoice before God: Yes, let them exceedingly rejoice.

¹¹ Light is sown for the righteous, and gladness for the upright in heart.

² His seed shall be mighty upon earth: The generation of the upright shall be blessed.

³⁰ But by reason of Him you are in Christ Jesus, who of God is made to us wisdom, and righteousness, and sanctification, and redemption: ³¹ That, according to as it is written, "He that glories, let him glory in the Lord."

¹⁴ But God forbid that I should glory, except in the cross of our Lord Jesus Christ, by whom the world is crucified to me, and I to the world.

⁴ Rejoice in the Lord always: And again I say, Rejoice.
