Save me, O God; for the waters have come in to my soul. ² I sink in deep mire, where there is no standing: I have come into deep waters, where the floods overflow me. ³ I am weary of my crying: My throat is dried: My eyes fail while I wait for my God. ⁴ Those who hate me without a cause are more than the hairs of my head: Those who would destroy me, being my enemies wrongfully, are mighty: Then I restored that which I did not take away. ⁵ O God, You know my foolishness; and my sins are not hidden from You. ⁶ Do not let those that wait on You, O Lord GOD of hosts, be ashamed for my sake: Do not let those that seek You be confounded for my sake, O God of Israel. ⁷ Because for Your sake I have borne reproach; shame has covered my face. ⁸ I have become a stranger to my brothers, and an alien to my mother's children. ⁹ For the zeal of Your house has eaten me up; and the reproaches of those that reproached You have fallen upon me. ¹⁰ When I wept, and chastened my soul with fasting, that was to my reproach. ¹¹ I also made sackcloth my garment; and I became a proverb to them. ¹² Those who sit in the gate speak against me; and I was the song of the drunkards. ¹³ But as for me, my prayer is to You, O LORD, in an acceptable time: O God, in the multitude of Your mercy hear me, in the truth of Your salvation. ¹⁴ Deliver me out of the mire, and let me not sink: Let me be delivered from those that hate me, and out of the deep waters. ¹⁵ Do not let the flood waters overflow me, neither let the deep swallow me up, and do not let the pit shut her mouth upon me. ¹⁶ Hear me, O LORD; for your lovingkindness is good: Turn to me according to the multitude of your tender mercies. ¹⁷ And do not hide Your face from Your servant; for I am in trouble: Hear me speedily. ¹⁸ Draw near to my soul, and redeem it: Deliver me because of my enemies. ¹⁹ You have known my reproach, and my shame, and my dishonor: My adversaries are all before You. ²⁰ Reproach has broken my heart; and I am full of heaviness: And I looked for some to take pity, but there was none; and for comforters, but I found none. ²¹ They also gave me gall for my food; and in my thirst they gave me vinegar to drink. ²² Let their table become a snare before them: And that which should have been for their welfare, let it become a trap. ²³ Let their eyes be darkened, that they do not see; and make their loins continually to shake. ²⁴ Pour out Your indignation upon them, and let Your wrathful anger take hold of them. ²⁵ Let their habitation be desolate; and let none dwell in their tents. ²⁶ For they persecute him whom You have smitten; and they speak to the grief of those whom You have wounded. ²⁷ Add iniquity to their iniquity: And do not let them come into Your righteousness. ²⁸ Let them be blotted out of the book of the living, and not be written with the righteous. ²⁹ But I am poor and sorrowful: Let Your salvation, O God, set me up on high. ³⁰ I will praise the name of God with a song, and will magnify Him with thanksgiving. ³¹ This also shall please the LORD better than an ox or bull that has horns and hoofs. ³² The humble shall see this, and be glad: And your heart shall live that seek God. ³³ For the LORD hears the poor, and does not despise His prisoners. ³⁴ Let the heaven and earth praise Him, the seas, and everything that moves in it. ³⁵ For God will save Zion, and will build the cities of Judah: That they may dwell there, and have it in possession. ³⁶ The seed of His servants also shall inherit it: And those that love His name shall dwell in it.

¹¹ or darkness, that you cannot see; and abundance of waters cover you.

⁴ The sorrows of death compassed around me, and the floods of ungodly men made me afraid.

⁶ Everyone that is godly shall pray to You for this in a time when You may be found: In the floods of great waters they surely shall not come near to him.

⁷ Deep calls to deep at the noise of Your waterspouts: All Your waves and Your billows have gone over me.

¹ To the chief Musician upon Shushaneduth, Michtam of David, to teach; when he strove with Aramnaharaim and with Aramzobah, when Joab returned, and smote twelve thousand from Edom in the valley of salt. O God, You have cast us off, You have scattered us, You have been displeased; O turn Yourself to us again.

¹ To the chief Musician upon Shoshannimeduth, A Psalm of Asaph. Give ear, O Shepherd of Israel, You that lead Joseph like a flock; You that dwell between the cherubims, shine forth.

¹⁷ I will also lay judgment on the line, and righteousness to the plummet: And the hail shall sweep away the refuge of lies, and the waters shall overflow the hiding place.

² When you pass through the waters, I will be with you; and through the rivers, they shall not overflow you: When you walk through the fire, you shall not be burned; neither shall the flame kindle on you.

⁵⁴ Waters flowed over my head; then I said, "I am cut off."

³ For you had cast me into the deep, in the midst of the seas; and the floods compassed around me: All Your billows and Your waves passed over me. ⁴ Then I said, 'I am cast out of Your sight; yet I will look again toward Your holy temple.' ⁵ The waters encompassed me, even to the soul: The depth closed me in all around, the weeds were wrapped about my head.

¹⁵ And the serpent cast out of his mouth water as a flood after the woman, that he might cause her to be carried away by the flood. ¹⁶ But the earth helped the woman, and the earth opened her mouth, and swallowed up the flood which the dragon cast out of his mouth.

¹⁵ And he said to me, "The waters which you saw, where the whore sits, are peoples, and multitudes, and nations, and tongues.

¹⁷ And the flood was upon the earth forty days; and the waters increased, and bore up the ark, and it was lifted up above the earth. ¹⁸ And the waters prevailed, and were increased greatly upon the earth; and the ark went upon the face of the waters. ¹⁹ And the waters prevailed exceedingly upon the earth; and all the high hills, that were under the whole heaven, were covered. ²⁰ The waters prevailed upward fifteen cubits; and the mountains were covered.15 Hebrew cubits (of the scriptures) is approximately 27.4 feet, or 8.3m; per Noah Webster's 1828 Dictionary and Easton's Illustrated Bible Dictionary, Appendix VI. ²¹ And all flesh that moved upon the earth died, both of fowl, and of domestic beast, and of wild beast, and of every creeping thing that creeps upon the earth, and every man: ²² All in whose nostrils was the breath of life, of all that were on the dry land, died. ²³ And every living substance was destroyed which was upon the face of the ground, both man, and domestic beasts, and the creeping things, and the fowl of the heaven; and they were destroyed from the earth: And only Noah remained alive, and those that were with him in the ark.

² He also brought me up out of a horrible pit, out of the miry clay, and set my feet upon a rock, and established my goings forth.

⁶ You have laid me in the lowest pit, in darkness, in the deeps. ⁷ Your wrath lies hard upon me, and You have afflicted me with all Your waves. Selah.

⁶ Then they took Jeremiah, and cast him into the dungeon of Malchiah the son of Hammelech, that was in the court of the prison: And they let down Jeremiah with cords. And in the dungeon there was no water, but mire: So Jeremiah sunk in the mire.

²² 'And behold, all the women that are left in the king of Judah's house shall be brought forth to the king of Babylon's princes, and those women shall say, "Your friends have set you on, and have prevailed against you: Your feet are sunk in the mire, and they are turned back away."

²⁶ Your rowers have brought you into great waters: The east wind has broken you in the midst of the seas. ²⁷ Your riches, and your fairs, your merchandise, your mariners, and your pilots, your caulkers, and the occupiers of your merchandise, and all your men of war, that are in you, and in all your company which is in the midst of you, shall fall into the midst of the seas in the day of your ruin. ²⁸ The suburbs shall shake at the sound of the cry of your pilots. ²⁹ And all who handle the oar, the mariners, and all the pilots of the sea, shall come down from their ships, they shall stand upon the land; ³⁰ and shall cause their voice to be heard against you, and shall cry bitterly, and shall cast up dust upon their heads, they shall wallow themselves in the ashes: ³¹ And they shall make themselves utterly bald for you, and gird them with sackcloth, and they shall weep for you with bitterness of heart and bitter wailing. ³² And in their wailing they shall take up a lamentation for you, and lament over you, saying, 'What city is like Tyrus, like those destroyed in the midst of the sea? ³³ When your wares went forth out of the seas, you filled many people; you did enrich the kings of the earth with the multitude of your riches and of your merchandise. ³⁴ In the time when you shall be broken by the seas in the depths of the waters, your merchandise and all your company in the midst of you shall fall.

²⁵ And the rain descended, and the floods came, and the winds blew, and beat upon that house; and it did not fall: For it was founded upon a rock.

³⁷ And He took Peter and the two sons of Zebedee with Him, and began to be sorrowful and very heavy. ³⁸ And He said to them, "My soul is exceedingly sorrowful, even to death: Tarry here, and watch with Me."

³² Your sons and your daughters shall be given to another people, and your eyes shall look, and fail with longing for them all the day long; and there shall be no might in your hand.

²⁰ But the eyes of the wicked shall fail, and they shall not escape, and their hope shall be as the giving up of the ghost.

¹⁶ My face is foul with weeping, and on my eyelids is the shadow of death;

⁶ I am weary with my groaning; all the night I make my bed swim; I water my couch with my tears.

¹ How long will You forget me, O LORD? Forever? How long will You hide Your face from me? ² How long shall I take counsel in my soul, having sorrow in my heart daily? How long shall my enemy be exalted over me? ³ Consider and hear me, O LORD my God: Lighten my eyes, lest I sleep the sleep of death;

² O my God, I cry in the daytime, but You do not hear; and in the night season, and am not silent.

¹⁵ My strength is dried up like a broken clay pot fragment; and My tongue sticks to My jaws; and you have brought Me into the dust of death.

²¹ Let integrity and uprightness preserve me; for I wait on You.

⁷ And now, Lord, what do I wait for? My hope is in You.

²¹ They also gave me gall for my food; and in my thirst they gave me vinegar to drink.

⁸² My eyes fail for Your word, saying, "When will You comfort me?"

¹²³ My eyes fail for Your salvation, and for the word of Your righteousness.

¹⁴ Like a crane or a swallow, so did I chatter: I mourned as a dove: My eyes fail from looking upward: O LORD, I am oppressed; undertake for me.

¹¹ My eyes fail with tears, my bowels are troubled, my liver is poured on the earth, for the destruction of the daughter of my people; because the children and the sucklings swoon in the streets of the city.

²⁸ After this, Jesus knowing that all things were now accomplished, that the scripture might be fulfilled, said, "I thirst."

⁷ Who in the days of His flesh, when He had offered up prayers and supplications with strong crying and tears to Him that was able to save Him from death, and was heard because He feared;

³ O LORD my God, If I have done this; if there is iniquity in my hands; ⁴ if I have rewarded evil to him that was at peace with me; (yes, I have delivered him who without cause is my enemy): ⁵ Let the enemy persecute my soul, and take it; yes, let him tread down my life upon the earth, and lay my honor in the dust. Selah.

¹¹ False witnesses rose up; they laid to my charge things that I did not know about. ¹² They rewarded me evil for good to the spoiling of my soul.

¹⁹ Do not let those that are my enemies wrongfully rejoice over me: Neither let them wink with the eye who hate me without a cause.

¹⁹ But my enemies are lively, and they are strong: And those that wrongfully hate me are multiplied. ²⁰ Those that render evil for good are also my adversaries; because I follow the thing that is good.

¹² For innumerable evils have compassed around me: My iniquities have taken hold upon me, so that I am not able to look up; they are more than the hairs of my head: Therefore my heart fails me.

³ For lo, they lie in wait for my soul: The mighty are gathered against me; not for my transgression, nor for my sin, O LORD.

³ They compassed me all around with words of hatred; and fought against me without a cause. ⁴ For my love they are my adversaries: But I give myself to prayer. ⁵ And they have rewarded me evil for good, and hatred for my love.

⁴ Surely He has borne our griefs, and carried our sorrows: Yet we had esteemed Him stricken, smitten of God, and afflicted. ⁵ But He was wounded for our transgressions, He was bruised for our iniquities: The chastisement of our peace was upon Him; and with His stripes we are healed. ⁶ All we like sheep have gone astray; we have turned, every one, to his own way; and the LORD has laid on Him the iniquity of us all. ⁷ He was oppressed, and He was afflicted, yet He did not open his mouth: He is brought as a lamb to the slaughter, and as a sheep before her shearers is silent, so He does not open his mouth.

²⁵ But this came to pass, that the word might be fulfilled which is written in their law, 'They hated Me without a cause.'

²¹ For He has made Him to be sin for us, who knew no sin; that we might be made the righteousness of God in Him.

²² "Who did no sin, neither was guile found in His mouth":

²⁴ Who Himself bore our sins in His own body on the tree, that we, being dead to sins, should live on to righteousness: By whose stripes you were healed.

¹⁸ For Christ also has suffered once for sins, the just for the unjust, that He might bring us to God, being put to death in the flesh, but made alive by the Spirit:

³ You have proved my heart; You have visited me in the night; You have examined me, and shall find nothing; I have purposed that my mouth shall not transgress.

¹² Who can understand his errors? Cleanse me from secret faults.

⁵ My wounds stink and are corrupt because of my foolishness.

⁹ Lord, all my desire is before you; and my groaning is not hid from you.

²⁰ If we have forgotten the name of our God, or outstretched our hands to a strange god; ²¹ shall not God search this out? For He knows the secrets of the heart.

¹⁷ For My eyes are on all their ways: They are not hid from My face, neither is their iniquity hid from My eyes.

³ The God of Israel said, "the Rock of Israel spoke to me, He that rules over men must be just, ruling in the fear of God.

⁷ So shall the congregation of the people compass around You: For their sakes therefore return on high.

³ Yes, let none that wait on You be ashamed: Let them be ashamed which transgress without cause.

²⁶ Let them be ashamed and brought to confusion together who rejoice at my hurt: Let them be clothed with shame and dishonor that magnify themselves against me.

¹⁸ Blessed be the LORD God, the God of Israel, Who only does wondrous things.

²³ And kings shall be your nursing fathers, and their queens your nursing mothers: They shall bow down to you with their face toward the earth, and lick up the dust of your feet; and you shall know that I am the LORD: For they shall not be ashamed who wait for Me."

¹⁹ And He said to them, "What things?" And they said to Him, "Concerning Jesus of Nazareth, which was a Prophet mighty in deed and word before God and all the people: ²⁰ And how the chief priests and our rulers delivered Him to be condemned to death, and have crucified Him. ²¹ But we trusted that it was He which should have redeemed Israel: And besides all this, today is the third day since these things were done.

⁷ And when they had set them in the midst, they asked, "By what power, or by what name, have you done this?"

¹⁷ The God of the people of Israel chose our fathers, and exalted the people when they dwelt as strangers in the land of Egypt, and with a powerful arm He brought them out of it.

²³ From this man's seed, God has, according to His promise, raised up to Israel a Savior, Jesus:

⁶ But I am a worm, and no man; a reproach of men, and despised of the people. ⁷ All those that see Me laugh Me to scorn: They shoot out the lip, they shake the head, saying, ⁸ "He trusted on the LORD that He would deliver Him: Let Him deliver Him, seeing He delighted in Him."

¹⁵ My confusion is continually before me, and the shame of my face has covered me,

²² Yes, for Your sake we are killed all the day long; we are counted as sheep for the slaughter.

⁶ I gave My back to the smiters, and My cheeks to those who plucked off the hair: I did not hide My face from shame and spitting.

³ He is despised and rejected by men; a Man of sorrows, and acquainted with grief: And we hid our faces from Him as it were; He was despised, and we did not esteem Him.

¹⁵ O LORD, You know: Remember me and visit me, and take revenge for me on my persecutors; in your long-suffering do not take me away: Know that for Your sake I have suffered rebuke.

⁶⁷ Then they spat in His face, and buffeted Him; and others smote Him with the palms of their hands, ⁶⁸ saying, "Prophesy to us, You Christ; who is he that smote You?"

²⁹ And when they had platted a crown of thorns, they put it upon His head, and a reed in His right hand: And they bowed the knee before Him, and mocked Him, saying, "Hail, King of the Jews!" ³⁰ Then they spat upon Him, and took the reed, and smote Him on the head.

³⁸ At that time there were two thieves crucified with Him, one on the right hand, and another on the left. ³⁹ And those that passed by reviled Him, wagging their heads, ⁴⁰ and saying, "You that destroy the temple, and build it in three days, save Yourself. If You are the Son of God, come down from the cross." ⁴¹ Likewise the chief priests also mocking Him, with the scribes and elders, said, ⁴² "He saved others; He cannot save Himself. If He is the King of Israel, let Him now come down from the cross, and we will believe Him. ⁴³ He trusted in God; let Him deliver Him now, if He will have Him: For He said, 'I am the Son of God.' " ⁴⁴ The thieves also, which were crucified with Him, cast the same in His teeth.

¹¹ Also Herod with his men of war disdained Him as nothing, mocked Him, arrayed Him in a gorgeous robe, and sent Him back to Pilate.

³⁵ And the people stood beholding. And the rulers also with them ridiculed Him, saying, "He saved others; let Him save Himself, if He is Christ, the chosen of God." ³⁶ The soldiers also mocked Him, coming to Him, and offering Him vinegar, ³⁷ and saying, "If You are the King of the Jews, save Yourself."

²¹ But all these things they will do to you for My name's sake, because they do not know Him that sent Me. ²² If I had not come and spoken to them, they would not have had sin: But now they have no cloke for their sin. ²³ He that hates Me hates My Father also. ²⁴ If I had not done among them the works which no other man did, they would not have had sin: But now they have both seen and hated both Me and My Father.

² looking to Jesus, the author and finisher of our faith; who for the joy that was set before Him endured the cross, despising the shame, and is set down at the right hand of the throne of God.

²⁸ And Eliab his oldest brother heard when he spoke to the men; and Eliab's anger was kindled against David, and he said, "Why did you come down here? And with whom have you left those few sheep in the wilderness? I know your pride, and the naughtiness of your heart; for you have come down that you might see the battle."

¹³ He has put my brothers far from me, and my acquaintance are truly estranged from me. ¹⁴ My kinsfolk have failed, and my familiar friends have forgotten me. ¹⁵ Those that dwell in my house, and my maids, count me for a stranger: I am an alien in their sight. ¹⁶ I called my servant, and he gave me no answer; I entreated him with my mouth. ¹⁷ My breath is strange to my wife, though I entreated for the children's sake of my own body. ¹⁸ Yes, young children despised me; I arose, and they spoke against me. ¹⁹ All my inward friends abhorred me: And they whom I loved are turned against me.

¹¹ I was a reproach among all my enemies, but especially among my neighbors, and a fear to my acquaintances: Those that saw me outside fled from me.

¹¹ My lovers and my friends stand aloof from my grief; and my kinsmen stand afar off.

⁵ Do not trust in a friend, do not put your confidence in a guide: Keep the doors of your mouth from her that lies in your bosom. ⁶ For the son dishonors the father, the daughter rises up against her mother, the daughter-in-law against her mother-in-law; a man's enemies are the men of his own house.

²¹ And the brother shall deliver up the brother to death, and the father the child: And the children shall rise up against their parents, and cause them to be put to death. ²² And you shall be hated by all people for My name's sake: But he who endures to the end shall be saved.

³⁵ For I have come to 'set a man at variance against his father, and the daughter against her mother, and the daughter-in-law against her mother-in-law.' ³⁶ And 'a man's foes shall be those of his own household.'

⁴⁸ Now he who betrayed Him gave them a sign, saying, "Whomever I kiss, that same is He: Take Him." ⁴⁹ And immediately he came to Jesus, and said, "Hail, Master"; and kissed Him. ⁵⁰ And Jesus said to him, "Friend, why have you come?" Then they came, and laid hands on Jesus, and took Him.

⁵⁶ But all this was done that the scriptures of the prophets might be fulfilled." Then all the disciples forsook Him, and fled.

⁷⁰ But he denied it before them all, saying, "I do not know what you are saying." ⁷¹ And when he had gone out into the porch, another maid saw him, and said to those that were there, "This fellow was also with Jesus of Nazareth." ⁷² But again he denied with an oath, "I do not know the Man." ⁷³ And after a while those who stood by came to him, and said to Peter, "Surely you also are one of them; for your speech betrays you." ⁷⁴ And he began to curse and to swear, saying, "I do not know the Man." And immediately the rooster crowed.

¹¹ He came to His own, and His own did not receive Him.

⁵ For His brothers did not believe in Him.

¹⁰ And he said, "I have been very jealous for the LORD God of hosts: For the children of Israel have forsaken your covenant, thrown down your altars, and slain your prophets with the sword; and I, even I only, am left; and they seek my life, to take it away.

²⁷ And David was clothed with a robe of fine linen, and all the Levites that bore the ark, and the singers, and Chenaniah the master of the song with the singers: David also had on him an ephod of linen. ²⁸ Thus all Israel brought up the ark of the covenant of the LORD with shouting, and with sound of the cornet, and with trumpets, and with cymbals, making a noise with psalteries and harps. ²⁹ And it came to pass, as the ark of the covenant of the LORD came to the city of David, that Michal, the daughter of Saul looking out at a window saw king David dancing and playing: And she despised him in her heart.

³ Moreover, because I have set my affection to the house of my God, I have of my own proper good, of gold and silver, which I have given to the house of my God, over and above all that I have prepared for the holy house.

⁴¹ All who pass by the way plunder him: He is a reproach to his neighbors.

⁵⁰ Remember, Lord, the reproach of Your servants; how I bear in my bosom the reproach of all the mighty people; ⁵¹ with which Your enemies have reproached, O LORD; with which they have reproached the footsteps of Your anointed.

¹³⁹ My zeal has consumed me, because my enemies have forgotten Your words.

¹⁵ Then they came to Jerusalem: And Jesus went into the temple, and began to drive out those who sold and bought in the temple, and overthrew the tables of the money changers, and the seats of those who sold doves; ¹⁶ and would not permit any man to carry any vessel through the temple. ¹⁷ Then He taught, saying to them, "Is it not written, 'My house shall be called the house of prayer of all nations'? But you have made it a 'den of thieves.' "

¹⁴ and found in the temple those who sold oxen and sheep and doves, and the money changers sitting: ¹⁵ And when He had made a lash of small cords, He drove them all out of the temple, and the sheep, and the oxen; and poured out the changers' money, and overthrew the tables; ¹⁶ and He said to those who sold doves, "Take these things from this place; do not make My Father's house a house of merchandise." ¹⁷ And His disciples remembered that it was written, "The zeal for Your house has eaten Me up."

³ For even Christ did not please Himself; but as it is written, "The reproaches of those that reproached You fell on Me."

¹³ But as for me, when they were sick, my clothing was sackcloth: I humbled my soul with fasting; and my prayer returned into my own bosom.

⁸ All the day my enemies reproach me; and those who are madly against me are sworn against me. ⁹ For I have eaten ashes like bread, and have mingled my drink with weeping

²⁴ My knees are weak through fasting; and my flesh fails without fatness. ²⁵ I also became a reproach to them: When they looked upon Me they shook their heads.

³³ For John the Baptist came neither eating bread nor drinking wine; and you say, 'He has a devil.' ³⁴ The Son of Man has come eating and drinking; and you say, 'Behold a gluttonous man, and a winebibber, a friend of publicans and sinners!'

³⁷ And you shall become an astonishment, a proverb, and a byword, among all nations where the LORD shall lead you.

⁷ Then will I cut off Israel out of the land which I have given them; and this house, which I have hallowed for my name, will I cast out of my sight; and Israel shall be a proverb and a byword among all people:

⁶ He has also made me a byword of the people; and formerly I was as a tabor.

¹³ But as for me, when they were sick, my clothing was sackcloth: I humbled my soul with fasting; and my prayer returned into my own bosom. ¹⁴ I myself behaved as though he had been my friend or brother: I bowed down heavily, as one that mourns for his mother.

¹³ You make us a reproach to our neighbors, a scorn and a derision to those that are all around us. ¹⁴ You make us a byword among the heathen, a shaking of the head among the people.

² at the same time the LORD spoke by Isaiah the son of Amoz, saying, "Go and loose the sackcloth from off your loins, and put off your shoe from your foot." And he did so, walking naked and barefoot.

¹² And in that day the Lord GOD of hosts did call for weeping, and for mourning, and for baldness, and for girding with sackcloth:

⁹ And I will deliver them to be removed into all the kingdoms of the earth for their hurt, to be a reproach and a proverb, a taunt and a curse, in all places where I shall drive them.

⁸ Lament like a virgin girded with sackcloth for the husband of her youth.

¹³ Gird yourselves, and lament, you priests: Howl, you ministers of the altar: Come, lie all night in sackcloth, you ministers of my God: For the food offering and the drink offering is withheld from the house of your God.

¹ And there came two angels to Sodom at sunset; and Lot sat in the gate of Sodom: And Lot seeing them rose up to meet them; and he bowed himself with his face toward the ground;

¹⁸ Judges and officers shall you make you in all your gates, which the LORD your God gives you, throughout your tribes: And they shall judge the people with just judgment.

⁸ They were children of fools, yes, children of base men: They were viler than the earth. ⁹ And now am I their song, yes, I am their byword.

¹⁵ But in my adversity they rejoiced, and gathered themselves together: Yes, the attackers gathered themselves together against me, and I did not know it; they tore at me, and did not cease: ¹⁶ As with hypocritical mockers in feasts, they gnashed upon me with their teeth.

² Belshazzar, while he tasted the wine, commanded to bring the golden and silver vessels which his father Nebuchadnezzar had taken out of the temple which was in Jerusalem; that the king, and his princes, his wives, and his concubines, might drink from them. ³ Then they brought the golden vessels that were taken out of the temple of the house of God which was at Jerusalem; and the king, and his princes, his wives and his concubines, drank from them. ⁴ They drank wine, and praised the gods of gold, and of silver, of brass, of iron, of wood, and of stone.

²³ but have lifted up yourself against the Lord of heaven; and they have brought the vessels of His house before you, and you, and your lords, your wives, and your concubines, have drunk wine from them; and have praised the gods of silver and gold, of brass, iron, wood, and stone, which do not see, nor hear, nor know: And the God in Whose hand is your breath, and Whose are all your ways, you have not glorified:

¹² And when He was accused by the chief priests and elders, He answered nothing. ¹³ Then Pilate said to Him, "Do You not hear how many things they witness against You?"

²⁰ But the chief priests and elders persuaded the multitude that they should ask for Barabbas, and destroy Jesus.

⁴¹ Likewise the chief priests also mocking Him, with the scribes and elders, said, ⁴² "He saved others; He cannot save Himself. If He is the King of Israel, let Him now come down from the cross, and we will believe Him.

⁶² Now the next day, which followed the Day of the Preparation, the chief priests and Pharisees came together to Pilate, ⁶³ saying, "Sir, we remember that while He was still alive, that deceiver said, 'After three days I will rise again.'

¹⁷ Then they clothed Him with purple, platted a crown of thorns, and put it around His head, ¹⁸ and began to salute Him, "Hail, King of the Jews!" ¹⁹ Then they smote Him on the head with a reed, and spat on Him, and bowing their knees worshiped Him.

² And they began to accuse Him, saying, "We found this fellow perverting the nation, and forbidding to give tribute to Caesar, saying that He Himself is Christ a King."

²⁶ The kings of the earth stood up, and the rulers were gathered together against the LORD, and against His Christ.' ²⁷ "For truly against Your holy Child Jesus, whom You have anointed, both Herod, and Pontius Pilate, with the Gentiles, and the people of Israel, were gathered together,

²⁷ And he said, "Blessed be the LORD God of my master Abraham, Who has not left destitute my master of His mercy and His truth: I being in the pathway, the LORD led me to the house of my master's brothers."

⁸ Ask your young men, and they will show you. Therefore let the young men find favor in your eyes: For we come in a good day: Give, I implore you, whatever comes to your hand to your servants, and to your son David.' "

² And it was so, when the king saw Esther the queen standing in the court, that she obtained favor in his sight: And the king held out to Esther the golden scepter that was in his hand. So Esther drew near, and touched the top of the scepter.

⁶ And the king said to Esther at the banquet of wine, "What is your petition? And it shall be granted to you: And what is your request? Even to the half of the kingdom it shall be performed."

² And the king said again to Esther on the second day at the banquet of wine, "What is your petition, queen Esther? And it shall be granted you: And what is your request? And it shall be performed, even to the half of the kingdom."

¹⁰ I have not hid Your righteousness within my heart; I have declared Your faithfulness and Your salvation: I have not concealed Your lovingkindness and Your truth from the great congregation. ¹¹ Do not withhold Your tender mercies from me, O LORD: Let Your lovingkindness and Your truth continually preserve me.

¹ Have mercy upon me, O God, according to Your lovingkindness: According to the multitude of your tender mercies blot out my transgressions.

¹⁶ As for me, I will call upon God; and the LORD shall save me. ¹⁷ Evening, and morning, and at noon, I will pray, and cry aloud: And He shall hear my voice.

¹⁵ He shall call upon Me, and I will answer him: I will be with him in trouble; I will deliver him, and honor him.

³ He has remembered His mercy and His truth toward the house of Israel: All the ends of the earth have seen the salvation of our God.

⁸ Thus says the LORD, "In an acceptable time I have heard You, and in a day of salvation I have helped You: And I will preserve You, and give You for a covenant of the people, to establish the earth, to cause to inherit the desolate heritages;

⁶ All of you seek the LORD while He may be found, call on Him while He is near:

²⁰ You will perform the truth to Jacob, and the mercy to Abraham, which You have sworn to our fathers from the days of old.

³⁶ Then Jesus came with them to a place called Gethsemane, and said to the disciples, "Sit here, while I go and pray over there." ³⁷ And He took Peter and the two sons of Zebedee with Him, and began to be sorrowful and very heavy. ³⁸ And He said to them, "My soul is exceedingly sorrowful, even to death: Tarry here, and watch with Me." ³⁹ And He went a little further, fell on His face, and prayed, saying, "O My Father, if it is possible, let this cup pass from Me: Nevertheless not as I will, but as You will." ⁴⁰ Then He came to the disciples, and found them asleep, and said to Peter, "What, could you not watch with Me one hour? ⁴¹ Watch and pray, that you do not enter into temptation: The spirit indeed is willing, but the flesh is weak." ⁴² He went away again the second time, and prayed, saying, "O My Father, if this cup may not pass away from Me, unless I drink it, Your will be done." ⁴³ And He came and found them asleep again; for their eyes were heavy. ⁴⁴ So He left them, went away again, and prayed the third time, saying the same words. ⁴⁵ Then He came to His disciples, and said to them, "Sleep on now, and take your rest: Behold, the hour is at hand, and the Son of Man is betrayed into the hands of sinners. ⁴⁶ Rise, let us be going: Behold, he who betrays Me is at hand."

⁷² to perform the mercy promised to our fathers, and to remember His holy covenant;

⁴⁴ And being in an agony, He prayed more earnestly: Moreover His sweat was as it were great drops of blood falling down to the ground.

¹ Jesus spoke these words, and lifted up His eyes to heaven, and said, "Father, the hour has come; glorify Your Son, that Your Son may also glorify You: ² As you have given Him power over all flesh, that He should give eternal life to as many as You have given Him. ³ And this is life eternal, that they might know You the only true God, and Jesus Christ, whom You have sent. ⁴ I have glorified You on the earth: I have finished the work which You gave Me to do. ⁵ And now, O Father, glorify Me together with Your own self with the glory which I had with You before the world was. ⁶ I have manifested Your name to the men whom You gave Me out of the world: They were Yours, and You gave them to Me; and they have kept Your word. ⁷ Now they have known that all things which You have given Me are from You. ⁸ For I have given to them the words which You gave Me; and they have received them, and have known surely that I came out from You, and they have believed that You sent Me. ⁹ I pray for them: I do not pray for the world, but for those whom You have given Me; for they are Yours. ¹⁰ And all Mine are Yours, and Yours are Mine; and I am glorified in them. ¹¹ And now I am no longer in the world, but these are in the world, and I come to You. Holy Father, keep through Your own name those whom You have given Me, that they may be one, as We are. ¹² While I was with them in the world, I kept them in Your name: Those whom You gave Me I have kept, and none of them is lost, except the son of perdition; that the scripture might be fulfilled. ¹³ And now I come to You; and these things I speak in the world, that they might have My joy fulfilled in themselves. ¹⁴ I have given them Your word; and the world has hated them, because they are not of the world, even as I am not of the world. ¹⁵ I do not pray that You should take them out of the world, but that You should keep them from the evil. ¹⁶ They are not of the world, even as I am not of the world. ¹⁷ Sanctify them through Your truth: Your word is truth. ¹⁸ As You have sent Me into the world, even so I also have sent them into the world. ¹⁹ And for their sakes I sanctify Myself, that they might also be sanctified through the truth. ²⁰ I do not pray for these alone, but also for those who shall believe upon Me through their word; ²¹ that they all may be one; as You, Father, are in Me, and I in You, that they may also be one in Us: That the world may believe that You have sent Me. ²² And the glory which You gave Me I have given them; that they may be one, even as We are one: ²³ I in them, and You in Me, that they may be made perfect in one; and that the world may know that You have sent Me, and have loved them, as You have loved Me. ²⁴ Father, I will that those whom You have given Me are also with Me where I am; that they may behold My glory, which You have given Me: For You loved Me before the foundation of the world. ²⁵ O righteous Father, the world has not known You: But I have known You, and these have known that You have sent Me. ²⁶ And I have declared to them Your name, and will declare it: That the love with which You have loved Me may be in them, and I in them."

³² And we declare to you glad tidings, how the promise which was made to the fathers, ³³ God has fulfilled the same for us their children, in that He has raised up Jesus again; as it is also written in the second Psalm, 'You are My Son, this day I have begotten You.'

⁸ Now I say that Jesus Christ was a minister of the circumcision for the truth of God, to confirm the promises made to the fathers: ⁹ And that the Gentiles might glorify God for His mercy; as it is written, "For this reason I will confess to You among the Gentiles, and sing to Your name."

² (For He said, "I have heard you in a time accepted, and in the day of salvation I have helped you": Behold, now is the accepted time; behold, now is the day of salvation.)

²³ Who, when He was reviled, did not revile in return; when He suffered, He did not threaten; but committed Himself to Him that judges righteously:

¹⁸ Look upon my affliction and my pain; and forgive all my sins. ¹⁹ Consider my enemies; for they are many; and they hate me with cruel hatred.

I waited patiently for the LORD; and He inclined to me, and heard my cry. ² He also brought me up out of a horrible pit, out of the miry clay, and set my feet upon a rock, and established my goings forth. ³ And He has put a new song in my mouth, even praise to our God: Many shall see it, and fear, and shall trust in the LORD.

² My soul thirsts for God, for the living God: When shall I come and appear before God?

¹ To the chief Musician upon Shoshannim, A Psalm of David. Save me, O God; for the waters have come in to my soul. ² I sink in deep mire, where there is no standing: I have come into deep waters, where the floods overflow me.

¹⁵ Do not let the flood waters overflow me, neither let the deep swallow me up, and do not let the pit shut her mouth upon me.

³ They compassed me all around with words of hatred; and fought against me without a cause.

²¹ But do this for me, O GOD the Lord, for Your name's sake: Because Your mercy is good, deliver me.

⁴ then the waters would have overwhelmed us, the stream would have gone over our soul: ⁵ Then the proud waters would have gone over our soul."

⁷ Send Your hand from above; deliver me out of mighty waters, from the hand of strange children;

⁶ Then they took Jeremiah, and cast him into the dungeon of Malchiah the son of Hammelech, that was in the court of the prison: And they let down Jeremiah with cords. And in the dungeon there was no water, but mire: So Jeremiah sunk in the mire. ⁷ Now when Ebedmelech the Ethiopian, one of the eunuchs who was in the king's house, heard that they had put Jeremiah in the dungeon; the king then sitting in the gate of Benjamin; ⁸ ebedmelech went forth out of the king's house, and spoke to the king saying, ⁹ "My lord the king, these men have done evil in all that they have done to Jeremiah the prophet, whom they have cast into the dungeon; and he is likely to die for hunger in the place where he is: For there is no more bread in the city." ¹⁰ Then the king commanded Ebedmelech the Ethiopian, saying, "Take from hence thirty men with you, and take up Jeremiah the prophet out of the dungeon, before he dies." ¹¹ So Ebedmelech took the men with him, and went into the house of the king under the treasury, and took there old cast clouts and old rotten rags, and let them down by cords into the dungeon to Jeremiah. ¹² And Ebedmelech the Ethiopian said to Jeremiah, "Now put these old cast clouts and rotten rags under your armholes under the cords." And Jeremiah did so. ¹³ So they drew up Jeremiah with cords, and took him up out of the dungeon: And Jeremiah remained in the court of the prison.

⁵⁵ I called on Your name, O LORD, out of the low dungeon.

³⁴ And He said to them, "My soul is exceedingly sorrowful, even to death: Tarry here, and watch." ³⁵ He went forward a little farther, and fell on the ground, and prayed that if it were possible, the hour might pass from Him. ³⁶ And He said, "Abba, Father, all things are possible for You; take away this cup from Me: Nevertheless not what I will, but what You will." ³⁷ Then He came, and found them sleeping, and said to Peter, "Simon, do you sleep? Could you not watch one hour? ³⁸ Watch and pray, all of you, lest you enter into temptation. Truly the spirit is ready, but the flesh is weak." ³⁹ And He went away again, and prayed, and spoke the same words. ⁴⁰ And when He returned, He found them asleep again, (for their eyes were heavy); neither did they know what to answer Him. ⁴¹ Then He came the third time, and said to them, "Sleep on now, and take your rest: It is enough, the hour has come; behold, the Son of Man is betrayed into the hands of sinners. ⁴² Rise up, let us go; look, he who betrays Me is at hand."

³⁴ Then at the ninth hour Jesus cried out with a loud voice, saying, "Eloi, Eloi, lama sabachthani?" which being interpreted is, "My God, My God, why have You forsaken Me?"

¹⁴ But his citizens hated him, and sent a message after him, saying, 'We will not have this man to reign over us.'

²⁷ But bring here those enemies of mine, who were not willing that I reign over them, and slay them before me.' "

³⁰ The God of our fathers raised up Jesus, whom you slew and hung on a tree: ³¹ God has exalted Him with His right hand to be Prince and Savior, to give repentance to Israel, and forgiveness of sins.

³³ They, and all that appertained to them, went down alive into the pit, and the earth closed on them: And they perished from among the congregation. ³⁴ And all Israel that were all around them fled at the cry of them: For they said, "Lest the earth swallow us up also.

¹⁰ For You will not leave my soul in hell; neither will You allow Your Holy One to see corruption.

⁴ I am counted with those that go down into the pit: I am as a man that has no strength: ⁵ Free among the dead, like the slain that lie in the grave, whom You remember no more: And they are cut off from Your hand. ⁶ You have laid me in the lowest pit, in darkness, in the deeps.

¹ But now thus says the LORD that created you, O Jacob, and He that formed you, O Israel, "Fear not: For I have redeemed you, I have called you by your name; you are Mine. ² When you pass through the waters, I will be with you; and through the rivers, they shall not overflow you: When you walk through the fire, you shall not be burned; neither shall the flame kindle on you.

² and said, "I cried by reason of my affliction to the LORD, and He heard me; out of the belly of hell I cried out, and You heard my voice. ³ For you had cast me into the deep, in the midst of the seas; and the floods compassed around me: All Your billows and Your waves passed over me. ⁴ Then I said, 'I am cast out of Your sight; yet I will look again toward Your holy temple.' ⁵ The waters encompassed me, even to the soul: The depth closed me in all around, the weeds were wrapped about my head. ⁶ I went down to the bottoms of the mountains; the earth with her bars was about me forever: Yet You have brought up my life from corruption, O LORD my God. ⁷ When my soul fainted within me I remembered the LORD: And my prayer came in to You, into Your holy temple.

⁴⁰ For as Jonah was three days and three nights in the whale's belly; so shall the Son of Man be three days and three nights in the heart of the earth.

²⁴ Whom God has raised up, having loosed the pains of death: Because it was not possible that He should be held by it.

³¹ he foreseeing this beforehand, spoke of the resurrection of Christ, that His soul was not left in hell, neither did His flesh see corruption.

¹⁶ Turn to me, and have mercy upon me; for I am desolate and afflicted.

¹¹ But as for me, I will walk in my integrity: Redeem me, and be merciful to me.

⁷ How excellent is your lovingkindness, O God! Therefore the children of men put their trust under the shadow of Your wings.

³ Because Your lovingkindness is better than life, my lips shall praise You.

¹³ But as for me, my prayer is to You, O LORD, in an acceptable time: O God, in the multitude of Your mercy hear me, in the truth of Your salvation.

¹⁵ But You, O LORD, are a God full of compassion, and gracious, longsuffering, and abundant in mercy and truth. ¹⁶ Oh, turn to me, and have mercy upon me; give Your strength to Your servant, and save the son of Your handmaid.

⁴⁵ And He remembered His covenant for them, and repented according to the multitude of His mercies.

⁷ I will mention the lovingkindnesses of the LORD, and the praises of the LORD, according to all that the LORD has bestowed on us, and the great goodness toward the house of Israel, which He has bestowed on them according to His mercies, and according to the multitude of His lovingkindnesses.

¹⁹ He will return again, He will have compassion upon us; He will subdue our iniquities; and You will cast all their sins into the depths of the sea.

²¹ And why do you not pardon my transgression, and take away my iniquity? For now shall I sleep in the dust; and you shall seek me in the morning, but I shall not be.

¹ How long will You forget me, O LORD? Forever? How long will You hide Your face from me?

²⁴ For He has not despised nor abhorred the affliction of the afflicted; neither has He hid His face from him; but when he cried out to Him, He heard.

⁹ Do not hide Your face far from me; do not put Your servant away in anger: You have been my help; do not leave me, neither forsake me, O God of my salvation.

¹³ Be pleased, O LORD, to deliver me: O LORD, make haste to help me.

²⁴ Why do You hide Your face, and forget our affliction and our oppression?

¹⁴ which my lips have uttered, and my mouth has spoken, when I was in trouble.

² Hide not Your face from me in the day when I am in trouble; incline Your ear to me: In the day when I call answer me speedily.

⁷ Hear me speedily, O LORD; my spirit fails: Do not hide Your face from me, lest I be like those that go down into the pit.

⁹ Deliver me, O LORD, from my enemies: I flee to You to hide me.

³⁸ And He said to them, "My soul is exceedingly sorrowful, even to death: Tarry here, and watch with Me."

⁴⁶ And about the ninth hour Jesus cried out with a loud voice, saying, "Eli, Eli, lama sabachthani?" That is to say, "My God, My God, why have You forsaken Me?"

²⁷ Were it not that I feared the wrath of the enemy, lest their adversaries should behave themselves strangely, and lest they should say, "Our hand is high, and the LORD has not done all this.

⁹ For the Canaanites and all the inhabitants of the land shall hear of it, and shall environ us round, and cut off our name from the earth: And what will you do to your great name?

²³ Or, Deliver me from the enemy's hand? Or, Redeem me from the hand of the mighty?

¹ Why do You stand afar off, O LORD? Why do You hide Yourself in times of trouble?

¹⁹ But You, O LORD, be not far from Me: O My strength, hasten to help Me.

⁵ Into Your hand I commit my spirit: You have redeemed me, O LORD God of truth.

¹⁵ But God will redeem my soul from the power of the grave: For He shall receive me. Selah.

⁹ He sent redemption to His people: He has commanded His covenant forever: Holy and reverend is His name.

⁸ O the Hope of Israel, his Savior in time of trouble, why should You be as a stranger in the land, and like a wayfaring man that turns aside to tarry for a night?

² The kings of the earth set themselves, and the rulers take counsel together, against the LORD, and against His anointed, saying, ³ "Let us break their bands apart, and cast away their cords from us." ⁴ He that sits in the heavens shall laugh: The LORD shall have them in derision.

⁶ But I am a worm, and no man; a reproach of men, and despised of the people. ⁷ All those that see Me laugh Me to scorn: They shoot out the lip, they shake the head, saying,

⁷ Because for Your sake I have borne reproach; shame has covered my face. ⁸ I have become a stranger to my brothers, and an alien to my mother's children. ⁹ For the zeal of Your house has eaten me up; and the reproaches of those that reproached You have fallen upon me.

⁴⁹ Jesus answered, "I do not have a devil; but I honor My Father, and you dishonor Me.

² I have heard many such things: Miserable comforters are you all.

²¹ Have pity on me, have pity on me, O you my friends; for the hand of God has touched me. ²² Why do you persecute me as God, and are not satisfied with my flesh?

⁶ O my God, my soul is cast down within me: Therefore I will remember You from the land of Jordan, and of the Hermonites, from the hill Mizar.

¹⁰ As with a sword in my bones, my enemies reproach me; while they say daily to me, "Where is your God?"

⁴ Our soul is exceedingly filled with the scorning of those who are at ease, and with the contempt of the proud.

⁴ I looked on my right hand side, and beheld, but there was no man that knew me: Refuge failed me; no man cared for my soul.

⁵ And I looked, and there was none to help; and I wondered that there was no one to uphold: Therefore My own arm brought salvation to Me; and My fury, it upheld Me.

³⁷ Then He came, and found them sleeping, and said to Peter, "Simon, do you sleep? Could you not watch one hour?

⁵⁰ Then they all forsook Him, and fled.

²⁷ Now My soul is troubled; and what shall I say? 'Father, save Me from this hour'? But for this reason I came to this hour.

³² Behold, the hour comes, yes, has now come, that you shall be scattered, every man to his own, and shall leave Me alone: And yet I am not alone, because the Father is with Me.

¹⁶ At my first defense no man stood with me, but all men forsook me: I pray to God that it may not be laid to their charge. ¹⁷ But the Lord stood with me, and strengthened me; that the preaching by me might be fully known, and that all the Gentiles might hear: And I was delivered out of the mouth of the lion.

³⁶ And others had trial of cruel mockings and scourgings, yes, moreover of chains and imprisonment:

¹⁸ Lest there should be among you man, or woman, or family, or tribe, whose heart turns away this day from the LORD our God, to go and serve the gods of these nations; lest there should be among you a root that bears gall and wormwood;

¹⁴ Why do we sit still? Assemble yourselves, and let us enter into the defended cities, and let us be silent there: For the LORD our God has put us to silence, and given us water of gall to drink, because we have sinned against the LORD.

¹⁵ Therefore thus says the LORD of hosts, the God of Israel; "Behold, I will feed them, even this people, with wormwood, and give them water of gall to drink.

¹⁵ Therefore thus says the LORD of hosts concerning the prophets; 'Behold, I will feed them with wormwood, and make them drink the water of gall: For from the prophets of Jerusalem has profaneness gone forth into all the land.' "

³⁴ they gave Him vinegar to drink mingled with gall: But when He had tasted of it, He would not drink.

⁴⁸ And immediately one of them ran, took a sponge, filled it with vinegar, put it on a reed, and gave Him it to drink.

²³ Then they gave Him wine mingled with myrrh to drink: But He did not take it.

³⁶ And someone ran and filled a sponge full of vinegar, put it on a reed, and gave it to Him to drink, saying, "Let Him alone; let us see if Elijah will come to take Him down."

³⁶ The soldiers also mocked Him, coming to Him, and offering Him vinegar,

²⁸ After this, Jesus knowing that all things were now accomplished, that the scripture might be fulfilled, said, "I thirst." ²⁹ Now a vessel full of vinegar was set there: And they filled a sponge with vinegar, put it upon hyssop, and put it to His mouth. ³⁰ When Jesus therefore had received the vinegar, He said, "It is finished": Then He bowed His head, and gave up the ghost.

³² For the backsliding of the simple shall slay them, and the prosperity of fools shall destroy them.

¹⁴ And He shall be for a sanctuary; but for a stone of stumbling and for a rock of offense to both the houses of Israel, for a trap and for a snare to the inhabitants of Jerusalem. ¹⁵ And many among them shall stumble, and fall, and be broken, and be snared, and be taken.

² If you all will not hear, and if you all will not lay it to heart, to give glory to My name", says the LORD of hosts, "I will even send a curse upon you, and I will curse your blessings: Yes, I have cursed them already, because you all do not lay it to heart.

⁸ (Even as it is written, "God has given them the spirit of slumber, eyes that they should not see, and ears that they should not hear); to this day." ⁹ And David says, "Let their table be made a snare, and a trap, and a stumbling-block, and a recompense to them: ¹⁰ Let their eyes be darkened, that they may not see, and bow down their back always."

³ For when they shall say, "Peace and safety"; then sudden destruction comes upon them, as travail upon a woman with child; and they shall not escape.

⁸ and "A stone of stumbling, and a rock of offense", even to those which stumble at the word, being disobedient: For that also they were appointed.

⁶⁵ And among these nations shall you find no ease, neither shall the sole of your foot have rest: But the LORD shall give you there a trembling heart, and failing of eyes, and sorrow of mind: ⁶⁶ And your life shall hang in doubt before you; and you shall fear day and night, and shall have none assurance of your life: ⁶⁷ In the morning you shall say, "Would God it were even! And at sunset you shall say, "Would God it were morning! For the fear of your heart with which you shall fear, and for the sight of your eyes which you shall see.

⁹ And He said, "Go, and tell this people, 'You indeed hear, but do not understand; and you see indeed, but do not perceive.' ¹⁰ Make the heart of this people dull, and make their ears heavy, and shut their eyes; lest they see with their eyes, and hear with their ears, and understand with their heart, and convert, and be healed."

³ Therefore my loins are filled with pain: Pangs have taken hold of me, as the pangs of a woman that travails: I was bowed down at the hearing of it; I was dismayed at the seeing of it. ⁴ My heart panted, fearfulness affrighted me: The night of my pleasure He has turned into fear to me.

⁹ Stop yourselves, and wonder; cry out, and cry: They are drunken, but not with wine; they stagger, but not with strong drink. ¹⁰ For the LORD has poured out on you the spirit of deep sleep, and has closed your eyes: He has covered the prophets, your rulers, and the seers.

⁶ Ask now, and see whether a man does travail with child? Why do I see every man with his hands on his loins, as a woman in travail, and all faces are turned into paleness?

⁶ Then the king's countenance was changed, and his thoughts troubled him, so that the joints of his loins were loosened, and his knees knocked against one another.

¹⁴ And in them the prophecy of Isaiah is fulfilled, which says, 'By hearing you shall hear, and shall not understand; and seeing you shall see, and shall not perceive: ¹⁵ For this people's heart is waxed over, and their ears are dull of hearing, and they have closed their eyes; lest at any time they should see with their eyes, and hear with their ears, and should understand with their heart, and should be converted, and I should heal them.'

³⁹ Therefore they could not believe, because that Isaiah said again, ⁴⁰ "He has blinded their eyes, and hardened their heart; that they should not see with their eyes, nor understand with their heart, and be converted, and I should heal them."

²⁶ saying, 'Go to this people, and say, "Hearing you shall hear, and shall not understand; and seeing you shall see, and not perceive: ²⁷ For the heart of this people is waxed over, and their ears are dull of hearing, and they have closed their eyes; lest they should see with their eyes, and hear with their ears, and understand with their heart, and should be converted, and I should heal them." '

¹⁰ Let their eyes be darkened, that they may not see, and bow down their back always."

²⁵ For I do not intend, brethren, that you should be ignorant of this mystery, lest you should be wise in your own conceits; that blindness in part has happened to Israel, until the fullness of the Gentiles has come in.

¹⁴ But their minds were blinded: For till this day remains the same veil not taken away in the reading of the Old Testament; which veil is done away in Christ.

¹⁵ Then the dukes of Edom shall be amazed; the mighty men of Moab, trembling shall take hold upon them; all the inhabitants of Canaan shall melt away.

¹⁴ But if you will not listen to me, and will not do all these commandments; ¹⁵ and if you shall despise My statutes, or if your soul abhor my judgments, so that you will not do all My commandments, but that you break My covenant: ¹⁶ I also will do this to you; I will even appoint over you terror, consumption, and the burning ague, that shall consume the eyes, and cause sorrow of heart: And you shall sow your seed in vain, for your enemies shall eat it. ¹⁷ And I will set my face against you, and you shall be slain before your enemies: Those that hate you shall reign over you; and you shall flee when none pursues you. ¹⁸ And if you will not yet for all this listen to me, then I will punish you seven times more for your sins. ¹⁹ And I will break the pride of your power; and I will make your heaven as iron, and your earth as brass: ²⁰ And your strength shall be spent in vain: For your land shall not yield her increase, neither shall the trees of the land yield their fruits. ²¹ And if you walk contrary to me, and will not listen to me; I will bring seven times more plagues on you according to your sins. ²² I will also send wild beasts among you, which shall rob you of your children, and destroy your domestic beasts, and make you few in number; and your high ways shall be desolate. ²³ And if you will not be reformed by me by these things, but will walk contrary to me; ²⁴ then will I also walk contrary to you, and will punish you yet seven times for your sins. ²⁵ And I will bring a sword on you, that shall avenge the quarrel of My covenant: And when you are gathered together within your cities, I will send the pestilence among you; and you shall be delivered into the hand of the enemy. ²⁶ And when I have broken the staff of your bread, ten women shall bake your bread in one oven, and they shall deliver you your bread again by weight: And you shall eat, and not be satisfied. ²⁷ And if you will not for all this listen to me, but walk contrary to me; ²⁸ then I will walk contrary to you also in fury; and I, even I, will chastise you seven times for your sins. ²⁹ And you shall eat the flesh of your sons, and the flesh of your daughters shall you eat. ³⁰ And I will destroy your high places, and cut down your images, and cast your carcasses on the carcasses of your idols, and my soul shall abhor you. ³¹ And I will make your cities waste, and bring your sanctuaries to desolation, and I will not smell the smell of your sweet odors. ³² And I will bring the land into desolation: And your enemies which dwell in it shall be astonished at it. ³³ And I will scatter you among the heathen, and will draw out a sword after you: And your land shall be desolate, and your cities waste. ³⁴ Then shall the land enjoy her Sabbaths, as long as it lies desolate, and you be in your enemies' land; even then shall the land rest, and enjoy her Sabbaths. ³⁵ As long as it lies desolate it shall rest; because it did not rest in your Sabbaths, when you dwelled on it. ³⁶ And on them that are left alive of you I will send a faintness into their hearts in the lands of their enemies; and the sound of a shaken leaf shall chase them; and they shall flee, as fleeing from a sword; and they shall fall when none pursues. ³⁷ And they shall fall one on another, as it were before a sword, when none pursues: And you shall have no power to stand before your enemies. ³⁸ And you shall perish among the heathen, and the land of your enemies shall eat you up. ³⁹ And those that are left of you shall pine away in their iniquity in your enemies' lands; and also in the iniquities of their fathers shall they pine away with them. ⁴⁰ If they shall confess their iniquity, and the iniquity of their fathers, with their trespass which they trespassed against me, and that also they have walked contrary to me; ⁴¹ and that I also have walked contrary to them, and have brought them into the land of their enemies; if then their uncircumcised hearts be humbled, and they then accept of the punishment of their iniquity: ⁴² Then will I remember My covenant with Jacob, and also My covenant with Isaac, and also My covenant with Abraham will I remember; and I will remember the land. ⁴³ The land also shall be left of them, and shall enjoy her Sabbaths, while she lies desolate without them: And they shall accept of the punishment of their iniquity: Because, even because they despised my judgments, and because their soul abhorred My statutes. ⁴⁴ And yet for all that, when they be in the land of their enemies, I will not cast them away, neither will I abhor them, to destroy them utterly, and to break My covenant with them: For I am the LORD their God. ⁴⁵ But I will for their sakes remember the covenant of their ancestors, whom I brought forth out of the land of Egypt in the sight of the heathen, that I might be their God: I am the LORD. ⁴⁶ These are the statutes and judgments and laws, which the LORD made between him and the children of Israel in Mount Sinai by the hand of Moses.

¹⁵ But it shall come to pass, if you will not hearken to the voice of the LORD your God, to observe to do all His commandments and His statutes which I command you this day; that all these curses shall come on you, and overtake you: ¹⁶ Cursed shall you be in the city, and cursed shall you be in the field. ¹⁷ Cursed shall be your basket and your store. ¹⁸ Cursed shall be the fruit of your body, and the fruit of your land, the increase of your cows, and the flocks of your sheep. ¹⁹ Cursed shall you be when you come in, and cursed shall you be when you go out. ²⁰ The LORD shall send on you cursing, vexation, and rebuke, in all that you set your hand to for to do, until you be destroyed, and until you perish quickly; because of the wickedness of your doings, by which you have forsaken me. ²¹ The LORD shall make the pestilence stick to you, until he have consumed you from off the land, where you go to possess it. ²² The LORD shall smite you with a consumption, and with a fever, and with an inflammation, and with an extreme burning, and with the sword, and with blasting, and with mildew; and they shall pursue you until you perish. ²³ And your heaven that is over your head shall be brass, and the earth that is under you shall be iron. ²⁴ The LORD shall make the rain of your land powder and dust: From heaven it shall come down upon you, until you are destroyed. ²⁵ The LORD shall cause you to be smitten before your enemies: You shall go out one way against them, and flee seven ways before them: And shall be removed into all the kingdoms of the earth. ²⁶ And your carcass shall be meat to all fowls of the air, and to the wild beasts of the earth, and no man shall fray them away. ²⁷ The LORD will smite you with the botch of Egypt, and with the tumors, and with the scab, and with the itch, whereof you cannot be healed. ²⁸ The LORD shall smite you with madness, and blindness, and astonishment of heart: ²⁹ And you shall grope at noonday, as the blind gropes in darkness, and you shall not prosper in your ways: And you shall be only oppressed and spoiled ever more, and no man shall save you. ³⁰ You shall betroth a wife, and another man shall lie with her: You shall build a house, and you shall not dwell in it: You shall plant a vineyard, and shall not gather its grapes. ³¹ Your ox shall be slain before your eyes, and you shall not eat of it: Your donkey shall be violently taken away from before your face, and shall not be restored to you: Your sheep shall be given to your enemies, and you shall have none to rescue them. ³² Your sons and your daughters shall be given to another people, and your eyes shall look, and fail with longing for them all the day long; and there shall be no might in your hand. ³³ The fruit of your land, and all your labors, shall a nation which you know not eat up; and you shall be only oppressed and crushed always: ³⁴ So that you shall be mad for the sight of your eyes which you shall see. ³⁵ The LORD shall smite you in the knees, and in the legs, with a sore botch that cannot be healed, from the sole of your foot to the top of your head. ³⁶ The LORD shall bring you, and your king which you shall set over you, to a nation which neither you nor your fathers have known; and there you shall serve other gods, wood and stone. ³⁷ And you shall become an astonishment, a proverb, and a byword, among all nations where the LORD shall lead you. ³⁸ You shall carry much seed out into the field, and shall gather but little in; for the locust shall consume it. ³⁹ You shall plant vineyards, and dress them, but shall neither drink of the wine, nor gather the grapes; for the worms shall eat them. ⁴⁰ You shall have olive trees throughout all your coasts, but you shall not anoint yourself with the oil; for your olive shall cast his fruit. ⁴¹ You shall beget sons and daughters, but you shall not enjoy them; for they shall go into captivity. ⁴² All your trees and fruit of your land shall the locust consume. ⁴³ The stranger that is within you shall get up above you very high; and you shall come down very low. ⁴⁴ He shall lend to you, and you shall not lend to him: He shall be the head, and you shall be the tail. ⁴⁵ Moreover all these curses shall come on you, and shall pursue you, and overtake you, till you be destroyed; because you did not hearken to the voice of the LORD your God, to keep His commandments and His statutes which he commanded you: ⁴⁶ And they shall be upon you for a sign and for a wonder, and on your seed forever. ⁴⁷ Because you served not the LORD your God with joyfulness, and with gladness of heart, for the abundance of all things; ⁴⁸ therefore you shall serve your enemies which the LORD shall send against you, in hunger, and in thirst, and in nakedness, and in want of all things: And he shall put a yoke of iron on your neck, until he have destroyed you. ⁴⁹ The LORD shall bring a nation against you from far, from the end of the earth, as swift as the eagle flies; a nation whose tongue you shall not understand; ⁵⁰ A nation of fierce countenance, which shall not regard the person of the old, nor show favor to the young: ⁵¹ And he shall eat the fruit of your domestic beasts, and the fruit of your land, until you be destroyed: Which also shall not leave you either grain, wine, or oil, or the increase of your cows, or flocks of your sheep, until he have destroyed you. ⁵² And he shall besiege you in all your gates, until your high and fenced walls come down, in which you trusted, throughout all your land: And he shall besiege you in all your gates throughout all your land, which the LORD your God has given you. ⁵³ And you shall eat the fruit of your own body, the flesh of your sons and of your daughters, which the LORD your God has given you, in the siege, and in the narrow place, with which your enemies shall distress you: ⁵⁴ So that the man that is tender among you, and very delicate, his eye shall be evil toward his brother, and toward the wife of his bosom, and toward the remnant of his children which he shall leave: ⁵⁵ So that he will not give to any of them of the flesh of his children whom he shall eat: Because he has nothing left him in the siege, and in the narrow place, with which your enemies shall distress you in all your gates. ⁵⁶ The tender and delicate woman among you, which would not adventure to set the sole of her foot upon the ground for delicateness and tenderness, her eye shall be evil toward the husband of her bosom, and toward her son, and toward her daughter, ⁵⁷ and toward her young one that comes out from between her feet, and toward her children which she shall bear: For she shall eat them for want of all things secretly in the siege and narrow place, with which your enemy shall distress you in your gates. ⁵⁸ If you will not observe to do all the words of this law that are written in this book, that you may fear this glorious and fearful name, THE LORD THY GOD; ⁵⁹ then the LORD will make your plagues wonderful, and the plagues of your seed, even great plagues, and of long continuance, and sore sicknesses, and of long continuance. ⁶⁰ Moreover he will bring on you all the diseases of Egypt, which you were afraid of; and they shall stick to you. ⁶¹ Also every sickness, and every plague, which is not written in the book of this law, them will the LORD bring on you, until you be destroyed. ⁶² And you shall be left few in number, whereas you were as the stars of heaven for multitude; because you would not obey the voice of the LORD your God. ⁶³ And it shall come to pass, that as the LORD rejoiced over you to do you good, and to multiply you; so the LORD will rejoice over you to destroy you, and to bring you to nothing; ¹⁸ Lest there should be among you man, or woman, or family, or tribe, whose heart turns away this day from the LORD our God, to go and serve the gods of these nations; lest there should be among you a root that bears gall and wormwood; ¹⁹ and it come to pass, when he hears the words of this curse, that he bless himself in his heart, saying, "I shall have peace, though I walk in the imagination of my heart, to add drunkenness to thirst: ²⁰ The LORD will not spare him, but then the anger of the LORD and his jealousy shall smoke against that man, and all the curses that are written in this book shall lie on him, and the LORD shall blot out his name from under heaven. ²¹ And the LORD shall separate him to evil out of all the tribes of Israel, according to all the curses of the covenant that are written in this book of the law: ²² So that the generation to come of your children that shall rise up after you, and the stranger that shall come from a far land, shall say, "when they see the plagues of that land, and the sicknesses which the LORD has laid on it; ²³ and that the whole land of it is brimstone, and salt, and burning, that it is not sown, nor bears, nor any grass grows in it, like the overthrow of Sodom, and Gomorrah, Admah, and Zeboim, which the LORD overthrew in his anger, and in his wrath: ²⁴ Even all nations shall say, "Why has the LORD done thus to this land? What means the heat of this great anger? ²⁵ Then men shall say, "Because they have forsaken the covenant of the LORD God of their fathers, which he made with them when he brought them forth out of the land of Egypt: ²⁶ For they went and served other gods, and worshiped them, gods whom they knew not, and whom he had not given to them: ²⁷ And the anger of the LORD was kindled against this land, to bring on it all the curses that are written in this book: ²⁸ And the LORD rooted them out of their land in anger, and in wrath, and in great indignation, and cast them into another land, as it is this day.

¹⁷ Then my anger shall be kindled against them in that day, and I will forsake them, and I will hide my face from them, and they shall be devoured, and many evils and troubles shall befall them; so that they will say in that day, Are not these evils come on us, because our God is not among us?

²⁰ And he said, "I will hide my face from them, I will see what their end shall be: For they are a very froward generation, children in whom is no faith. ²¹ They have moved me to jealousy with that which is not God; they have provoked me to anger with their vanities: And I will move them to jealousy with those which are not a people; I will provoke them to anger with a foolish nation. ²² For a fire is kindled in my anger, and shall burn to the lowest hell, and shall consume the earth with her increase, and set on fire the foundations of the mountains. ²³ I will heap mischiefs on them; I will spend my arrows on them. ²⁴ They shall be burnt with hunger, and devoured with burning heat, and with bitter destruction: I will also send the teeth of beasts on them, with the poison of dragons, of the dust. ²⁵ The sword outside, and terror inside, shall destroy both the young man and the virgin, the suckling also with the man of gray hairs. ²⁶ I said, "I would scatter them into corners, I would make the remembrance of them to cease from among men:

⁶ Pour out your wrath upon the heathen who have not known You, and upon the kingdoms that have not called upon Your name.

⁸ And they shall be afraid: Pangs and sorrows shall take hold of them; they shall be in pain as a woman that travails: They shall be amazed at one another; their faces shall be as flames.

¹⁰ The princes of Judah were like those that remove the boundary line monuments: Therefore I will pour out My wrath upon them like water.

⁶ But My words and My statutes, which I commanded My servants the prophets, did they not take hold of your fathers? And they returned and said, 'As the LORD of hosts thought to do to us, according to our ways, and according to our doings, in this manner He has dealt with us.' "

³⁵ That upon you may come all the righteous blood shed upon the earth, from the blood of righteous Abel to the blood of Zacharias son of Barachias, whom you slew between the temple and the altar. ³⁶ Truly I say to you, All these things shall come upon this generation. ³⁷ O Jerusalem, Jerusalem, you that kill the prophets, and stone those which are sent to you; how often I would have gathered your children together, even as a hen gathers her chicks under her wings, but you were not willing!

²² Because these are the days of vengeance, that all things which are written may be fulfilled.

¹⁵ Who killed both the Lord Jesus, and their own prophets, and have persecuted us; and they do not please God, and are contrary to all men: ¹⁶ Forbidding us to speak to the Gentiles that they might be saved, to always fill up their sins: For the wrath has come upon them to the uttermost.

¹ And I heard a great voice out of the temple saying to the seven angels, "Go your ways, and pour out the vials of the wrath of God upon the earth."

⁸ And at this house, which is high, everyone that passes by it shall be astonished, and shall hiss; and they shall say, "Why has the LORD done thus to this land, and to this house?

¹ Now I will sing to my well Beloved a song of my Beloved touching His vineyard. My well Beloved has a vineyard in a very fruitful hill:

¹¹ Then I said, "Lord, how long?" And He answered, "Until the cities are wasted without inhabitant, and the houses without man, and the land is utterly desolate,

¹² "But all of you go now to My place which was in Shiloh, where I set My name at the first, and see what I did to it for the wickedness of My people Israel. ¹³ And now, because you have done all these works", said the LORD, "and I spoke to you, rising up early and speaking, but you did not hear; and I called you, but you did not answer; ¹⁴ therefore I will do to this house, which is called by My name, in which you trust, and to the place which I gave to you and to your fathers, as I have done to Shiloh.

³⁸ Behold, your house is left to you desolate.

¹ Then Jesus went out, and departed from the temple: And His disciples came to Him to show Him the buildings of the temple. ² And Jesus said to them, "Do you not see all these things? Truly I say to you, There shall not be left here one stone upon another, that shall not be thrown down."

³⁵ Behold, your house is left to you desolate: And truly I say to you, You shall not see Me, until the time comes when you shall say, 'Blessed is He that comes in the name of the Lord.' "

²⁰ For it is written in the Book of Psalms, 'Let his habitation be desolate, and let no man dwell in it'; and, 'Let another take his office as a bishop.'

⁹ But a prophet of the LORD was there, whose name was Oded: And he went out before the host that came to Samaria, and said to them, "Behold, because the LORD God of your fathers was wroth with Judah, he has delivered them into your hand, and you have slain them in a rage that reaches up to heaven.

¹⁶ Because he did not remember to show mercy, but persecuted the poor and needy man, that he might even slay the broken in heart.

⁴ Surely He has borne our griefs, and carried our sorrows: Yet we had esteemed Him stricken, smitten of God, and afflicted.

¹⁰ Yet it pleased the LORD to bruise Him; He has put Him to grief: When you shall make His soul an offering for sin, He shall see His seed, He shall prolong His days, and the pleasure of the LORD shall prosper in His hand.

¹⁵ And I am very sorely displeased with the heathen that are at ease: For I was only a little displeased, and they helped advance the affliction."

⁷ "Awake, O sword, against My shepherd, and against the man that is My fellow", says the LORD of hosts: "Smite the shepherd, and the sheep shall be scattered: And I will turn My hand upon the little ones.

²⁷ And with Him they crucified two thieves; one on His right hand, and the other on His left. ²⁸ Therefore the scripture was fulfilled, which says, "And He was numbered with the transgressors." ²⁹ And those who passed by railed at Him, wagging their heads, and saying, "Ah, You that destroy the temple, and rebuild it in three days, ³⁰ save Yourself, and come down from the cross." ³¹ Likewise also the chief priests mocking, said among themselves with the scribes, "He saved others; He cannot save Himself. ³² Let Christ, the King of Israel, descend now from the cross, that we may see and believe." Even those who were crucified with Him reviled Him.

¹⁵ Who killed both the Lord Jesus, and their own prophets, and have persecuted us; and they do not please God, and are contrary to all men:

¹⁵ But when Pharaoh saw that there was respite, he hardened his heart, and did not hearken to them; as the LORD had said.

³² And Pharaoh hardened his heart at this time also, neither would he let the people go.

¹² And the LORD hardened the heart of Pharaoh, and he did not hearken to them; as the LORD had spoken to Moses.

³⁹ And those that are left of you shall pine away in their iniquity in your enemies' lands; and also in the iniquities of their fathers shall they pine away with them.

⁵ And cover not their iniquity, and let not their sin be blotted out from before you: For they have provoked you to anger before the builders.

⁵ He shall receive the blessing from the LORD, and righteousness from the God of his salvation.

¹² So I gave them up to their own hearts' lust: And they walked in their own counsels.

¹⁴ Let the iniquity of his fathers be remembered by the LORD; and let not the sin of his mother be blotted out.

¹⁷ As he loved cursing, so let it come to him: As he delighted not in blessing, so let it be far from him. ¹⁸ As he clothed himself with cursing as with a garment, so let it come into his bowels like water, and like oil into his bones. ¹⁹ Let it be to him as the garment which covers him, and for a girdle with which he is continually girded.

⁶ And I will lay it waste: It shall not be pruned, nor dug; but there shall come up briers and thorns: I will also command the clouds that they rain no rain on it.

¹⁰ Let favor be shown to the wicked, yet he will not learn righteousness: In the land of uprightness he will deal unjustly, and will not behold the majesty of the LORD.

¹⁹ And when He saw a fig tree beside the road, He came to it, and found nothing on it except leaves only, and said to it, "Let no fruit grow on you from this time forward forever." And immediately the fig tree withered away.

³¹ Therefore you are witnesses against yourselves, that you are the children of those who killed the prophets. ³² Fill up then the measure of your fathers.

⁴ saying, "I have sinned in that I have betrayed the innocent blood." And they said, "What is that to us? You see to that." ⁵ Then he threw down the pieces of silver in the temple, and departed, and went and hung himself.

²⁸ And even as they did not like to retain God in their knowledge, God gave them over to a reprobate mind, to do those things which are not proper;

¹⁸ Therefore He has mercy on whom He will have mercy, and whom He wills He hardens.

³¹ But Israel, which followed after the law of righteousness, has not attained to the law of righteousness.

² For I bear them record that they have a zeal of God, but not according to knowledge. ³ For they being ignorant of God's righteousness, and going about to establish their own righteousness, have not submitted themselves to the righteousness of God.

¹¹ And for this reason God shall send them strong delusion, that they should believe a lie: ¹² That they all might be damned who did not believe the truth, but had pleasure in unrighteousness.

¹⁴ Alexander the coppersmith did me much evil: The Lord reward him according to his works:

¹⁰ And he said to me, "Do not seal the sayings of the prophecy of this book: For the time is at hand. ¹¹ He that is unjust, let him be unjust still: And he which is filthy, let him be filthy still: And he that is righteous, let him be righteous still: And he that is holy, let him be holy still."

³² Yet now, if You will forgive their sin; and if not, blot me, I implore You, out of Your book which You have written." ³³ And the LORD said to Moses, "Whoever has sinned against Me, him I will blot out of My book.

³ And it shall come to pass, that he who is left in Zion, and he who remains in Jerusalem, shall be called holy, even everyone that is recorded among the living in Jerusalem:

¹⁶ That he who blesses himself in the earth shall bless himself in the God of truth; and he that swears in the earth shall swear by the God of truth; because the former troubles are forgotten, and because they are hid from My eyes.

⁹ And My hand shall be on the prophets who see vanity, and who divine lies: They shall not be in the assembly of My people, neither shall they be written in the writing of the house of Israel, neither shall they enter into the land of Israel; and you shall know that I am the Lord GOD.

⁹ Then God said, "Call his name Loammi: For you are not My people, and I will not be your God.

²⁰ Nevertheless do not rejoice in this, that the spirits are subject to you; but rather rejoice, because your names are written in heaven."

³ And I entreat you also, co-yoked true companions, help those women who labored with me in the gospel, with Clement also, and with my other fellow-laborers, whose names are in the Book of Life.

²³ to the general assembly and church of the firstborn, which are written in heaven, to God the Judge of all, and to the spirits of just men made perfect,

⁵ He that overcomes, the same shall be clothed in white garments; and I will not blot out his name from the Book of Life, but I will confess his name before My Father, and before His angels."

⁸ And all that dwell upon the earth shall worship him, whose names are not written in the Book of Life of the Lamb slain from the foundation of the world.

¹² And I saw the dead, small and great, stand before God; and the books were opened: And another book was opened, which is the Book of Life: And the dead were judged out of those things which were written in the books, according to their works. ¹³ And the sea gave up the dead which were in it; and death and hell delivered up the dead that were in them: And they were judged, every man according to their works. ¹⁴ Then death and hell were cast into the lake of fire. This is the second death. ¹⁵ And whoever was not found written in the Book of Life was cast into the lake of fire.

¹⁹ And if any man shall take away from the words of the book of this prophecy, God shall take away his part out of the Book of Life, and out of the holy city, and from the things which are written in this book.

⁴⁸ He delivers me from my enemies: Yes, You lift me up above those that rise up against me: You have delivered me from the violent man.

¹ To the chief Musician, A Psalm of David. The LORD hear you in the day of trouble; the name of the God of Jacob defend you;

²⁷ All the ends of the world shall remember and turn to the LORD: And all the kindreds of the nations shall worship before You. ²⁸ For the kingdom is the LORD's: And He is the governor among the nations. ²⁹ All those that are fat upon earth shall eat and worship: All those that go down to the dust shall bow before Him: And none can keep alive his own soul. ³⁰ A seed shall serve Him; it shall be accounted to the Lord for a generation. ³¹ They shall come, and shall declare His righteousness to a people that shall be born, that He has done this.

¹⁷ But I am poor and needy; yet the Lord thinks upon me: You are my help and my deliverer; make no tarrying, O my God.

⁵ But I am poor and needy: Make haste to me, O God: You are my help and my deliverer; O LORD, make no tarrying.

²⁶ He shall cry to Me, 'You are my Father, my God, and the Rock of my salvation.' ²⁷ Also I will make him My firstborn, higher than the kings of the earth.

¹⁴ "Because he has set his love upon Me, therefore I will deliver him: I will set him on high, because he has known My name. ¹⁵ He shall call upon Me, and I will answer him: I will be with him in trouble; I will deliver him, and honor him. ¹⁶ With long life I will satisfy him, and show him My salvation."

²² For I am poor and needy, and my heart is wounded within me.

³¹ For He shall stand at the right hand of the poor, to save him from those who condemn his soul.

² For He shall grow up before Him as a tender plant, and as a root out of a dry ground: He has no form nor comeliness; and when we shall see Him, there is no beauty that we should desire Him. ³ He is despised and rejected by men; a Man of sorrows, and acquainted with grief: And we hid our faces from Him as it were; He was despised, and we did not esteem Him.

²⁰ And Jesus said to Him, "The foxes have holes, and the birds of the air have nests; but the Son of Man has nowhere to lay His head."

⁹ For you know the grace of our Lord Jesus Christ, that though He was rich, yet for your sakes He became poor, that through His poverty you might be rich.

²¹ far above all principality, and power, and might, and dominion, and every name that is named, not only in this world, but also in that which is to come: ²² And has put all things under His feet, and gave Him to be the head over all things to the church,

⁹ Therefore God has also highly exalted Him, and given Him a name which is above every name: ¹⁰ That at the name of Jesus every knee should bow, of things in heaven, and things on earth, and things under the earth; ¹¹ and that every tongue should confess that Jesus Christ is Lord, to the glory of God the Father.

⁷ The LORD is my strength and my shield; my heart trusted in Him, and I am helped: Therefore my heart greatly rejoices; and with my song I will praise Him.

³ O magnify the LORD with me, and let us exalt His name together.

¹⁴ Offer to God thanksgiving; and pay your vows to the most High:

²¹ I will praise You: For You have heard me, and are my salvation.

²⁸ You are my God, and I will praise You: You are my God, I will exalt You. ²⁹ O give thanks to the LORD; for He is good: For His mercy endures forever.

¹³ Will I eat the flesh of bulls, or drink the blood of goats? ¹⁴ Offer to God thanksgiving; and pay your vows to the most High:

²³ Whoever offers praise glorifies Me: And to him that orders his conversation aright I will show the salvation of God.

² Take with you words, and turn to the LORD: Say to Him, "Take away all iniquity, and receive us graciously: So will we render the calves of our lips.

¹⁹ speaking to yourselves in psalms and hymns and spiritual songs, singing and making melody in your heart to the Lord; ²⁰ giving thanks always for all things to God and the Father in the name of our Lord Jesus Christ;

¹⁵ Therefore by Him let us offer the sacrifice of praise to God continually, that is, the fruit of our lips giving thanks to His name.

⁵ you also, as lively stones, are built up as a spiritual house, a holy priesthood, to offer up spiritual sacrifices, acceptable to God by Jesus Christ.

²⁶ The meek shall eat and be satisfied: They shall praise the LORD that seek Him: Your heart shall live forever.

²⁹ All those that are fat upon earth shall eat and worship: All those that go down to the dust shall bow before Him: And none can keep alive his own soul.

⁹ The meek He will guide in judgment: And He will teach the meek His way.

² My soul shall make her boast in the LORD: The humble shall hear of it, and be glad.

⁶ All of you seek the LORD while He may be found, call on Him while He is near: ⁷ Let the wicked forsake his way, and the unrighteous man his thoughts: And let him return to the LORD, and He will have mercy on him; and to our God, for He will abundantly pardon.

¹ The Spirit of the Lord GOD is upon me; because the LORD has anointed me to preach good tidings to the meek; He has sent me to bind up the brokenhearted, to proclaim liberty to the captives, and the opening of the prison to those who are bound; ² to proclaim the acceptable year of the LORD, and the day of vengeance of our God; to comfort all who mourn; ³ to appoint to those who mourn in Zion, to give to them beauty for ashes, the oil of joy for mourning, the garment of praise for the spirit of heaviness; that they might be called trees of righteousness, the planting of the LORD, that He might be glorified.

²² Therefore you now have sorrow: But I will see you again, and your heart shall rejoice, and no man will take your joy from you.

²⁰ And when He had said this, He showed them His hands and His side. Then the disciples were glad, when they saw the Lord.

¹⁷ LORD, You have heard the desire of the humble: You will prepare their heart, You will cause Your ear to hear:

⁵ "For the oppression of the poor, for the sighing of the needy, I will now arise", says the LORD; "I will set him in safety from he that puffs at him."puffs at him; or, would ensnare him

⁶ This poor man cried, and the LORD heard him, and saved him out of all his troubles.

⁶ God sets the solitary in families: He brings out those which are bound with chains: But the rebellious dwell in a dry land.

¹² For He shall deliver the needy when he cries; the poor also, and him that has no helper. ¹³ He shall spare the poor and needy, and shall save the souls of the needy. ¹⁴ He shall redeem their soul from deceit and violence: And their blood shall be precious in his sight.

¹⁷ He will regard the prayer of the destitute, and not despise their prayer.

²⁰ to hear the groaning of the prisoner; to loose those that are appointed to death;

¹⁰ Such as sit in darkness and in the shadow of death, being bound in affliction and iron;

⁷ Which executes justice for the oppressed: Which gives food to the hungry. The LORD lets loose the prisoners:

² For all those things My hand has made, and all those things have been in existence", said the LORD: "but to this man I will look, even to him who is poor and of a contrite spirit, and trembles at My word.

¹¹ As for you also, by the blood of your covenant I have sent forth your prisoners out of the pit in which there is no water. ¹² Turn to the stronghold, all you prisoners of hope: Even today I do declare that I will render double to you;

¹⁸ "The Spirit of the LORD is upon Me, because He has anointed Me to preach the gospel to the poor; He has sent Me to heal the brokenhearted, to preach deliverance to the captives, and recovering of sight to the blind, to set at liberty those who are bruised,

¹⁸ and laid their hands on the apostles, and put them in the common prison. ¹⁹ But the angel of the Lord opened the prison doors by night, and brought them forth, and said,

⁴ And when he had apprehended him, he put him in prison, and delivered him to four bands of four soldiers each to keep him; intending after Easter to bring him forth to the people. ⁵ Therefore Peter was kept in prison: But prayer was made without ceasing to God by the church for him. ⁶ And when Herod would have brought him forth, the same night Peter was sleeping between two soldiers, bound with two chains: And the keepers before the door kept the prison. ⁷ And behold, the angel of the Lord came upon him, and a light shone in the prison: And he smote Peter on the side, and raised him up, saying, "Arise up quickly." And his chains fell off from his hands. ⁸ Then the angel said to him, "Gird yourself, and tie on your sandals"; and so he did. And he said to him, "Throw your garment around you, and follow me." ⁹ Therefore he went out, and followed him; and was not aware that it was actually true which was done by the angel; but thought he saw a vision. ¹⁰ When they were past the first and the second ward, they came to the iron gate that leads to the city; which opened to them of its own accord: And they went out, and passed on through one street; and immediately the angel departed from him. ¹¹ And when Peter had come to himself, he said, "Now I know for sure that the Lord has sent His angel, and has delivered me out of the hand of Herod, and from all the expectation of the Jewish people."

¹ For this cause I, Paul, the prisoner of Jesus Christ for you Gentiles,

¹⁰ Fear none of those things which you shall suffer: Behold, the devil shall throw some of you into prison, that you may be proven; and you shall have tribulation ten days: Be faithful to death, and I will give you a crown of life.

²⁰ And God said, "Let the waters bring forth abundantly the moving creature that has life, and fowl that may fly above the earth in the open firmament of heaven."

¹¹ Let the heavens rejoice, and let the earth be glad; let the sea roar, and the fullness of it.

⁷ Let the sea roar, and the fullness of it; the world, and those who dwell in it. ⁸ Let the floods clap their hands: Let the hills be joyful together

¹ All of you praise the LORD. Praise the LORD from the heavens: Praise Him in the heights. ² Praise Him, all His angels: Praise Him, all His hosts. ³ Praise Him, sun and moon: Praise Him, all you stars of light. ⁴ Praise Him, you heavens of heavens, and you waters that are above the heavens. ⁵ Let them praise the name of the LORD: For He commanded, and they were created. ⁶ He has also established them forever and ever: He has made a decree which shall not pass. ⁷ Praise the LORD from the earth, you dragons, and all the deep: ⁸ Fire, and hail; snow and vapor; stormy wind fulfilling His word: ⁹ Mountains, and all hills; fruitful trees, and all cedars: ¹⁰ Wild beasts, and all domestic beasts, creeping things, and flying fowl: ¹¹ Kings of the earth, and all people; princes, and all judges of the earth: ¹² Both young men, and maidens; old men, and children: ¹³ Let them praise the name of the LORD: For His name alone is excellent; His glory is above the earth and heaven. ¹⁴ He also exalts the horn of His people, the praise of all His saints; even of the children of Israel, a people near to Him. Praise the LORD.

⁶ Let everything that has breath praise the LORD. All of you, praise the LORD.

²² I have blotted out, as a thick cloud, your transgressions, and, as a cloud, your sins: Return to Me; for I have redeemed you. ²³ Sing, O you heavens; for the LORD has done it: Shout, you lower parts of the earth: Break forth into singing, you mountains, O forest, and every tree in it: For the LORD has redeemed Jacob, and glorified Himself in Israel.

¹³ Sing, O heavens; and be joyful, O earth; and break forth into singing, O mountains: For the LORD has comforted His people, and will have mercy on His afflicted.

¹² For you shall go out with joy, and be led forth with peace: The mountains and the hills shall break forth before you into singing, and all the trees of the field shall clap their hands.

¹¹ And all the angels stood all around the throne, and around the elders and the four beasts, and fell on their faces before the throne, and worshiped God, ¹² saying, "Amen: Blessing, and glory, and wisdom, and thanksgiving, and honor, and power, and might, be to our God forever and ever. Amen." ¹³ And one of the elders answered, saying to me, "What are these which are arrayed in white robes? And where did they come from?"

¹¹ Let Mount Zion rejoice, let the daughters of Judah be glad, because of Your judgments. ¹² Walk about Zion, and go all around her: Count her towers. ¹³ Mark well her bulwarks, consider her palaces; that you may tell it to the generation following.

¹⁸ Do good to Zion in your good pleasure: Build the walls of Jerusalem.

¹³ You shall arise, and have mercy upon Zion: For the time to favor her, yes, the set time has come,

¹⁶ When the LORD shall build up Zion, He shall appear in His glory.

¹² Praise the LORD, O Jerusalem; praise your God, O Zion, ¹³ for He has strengthened the bars of your gates; He has blessed your children within you.

³² What then shall one answer the messengers of the nation? That the LORD has founded Zion, and the poor of His people shall take refuge in it.

²⁶ that confirms the word of His servant, and performs the counsel of His messengers; that said to Jerusalem, "You shall be inhabited"; and to the cities of Judah, "You shall be built", and I will raise up the decayed places of it:

¹³ I bring near My righteousness; it shall not be far off, and My salvation shall not tarry: And I will place salvation in Zion for Israel My glory."

¹⁰ Thus says the LORD; 'Again there shall be heard in this place, which you say shall be desolate without man and without beast, even in the cities of Judah, and in the streets of Jerusalem, that are desolate, without man, and without inhabitant, and without beast, ¹¹ the voice of joy, and the voice of gladness, the voice of the bridegroom, and the voice of the bride, the voice of those that shall say, "Praise the LORD of hosts: For the LORD is good; for his mercy endures forever": And of those that shall bring the sacrifice of praise into the house of the LORD. For I will cause to return the captivity of the land, as at the first', said the LORD.

³⁵ And they shall say, 'This land that was desolate has become like the garden of Eden; and the waste and desolate places and ruined cities have become fenced, and are inhabited." ³⁶ Then the heathen who are left all around you shall know that I the LORD build the ruined places, and plant that which was desolate: I the LORD have spoken it, and I will do it."

¹⁷ But upon Mount Zion shall be deliverance, and there shall be holiness; and the house of Jacob shall possess their possessions.deliverance; or, those that escapethere shall be holiness; or, it shall be holy

¹ Then I looked, and lo, a Lamb stood on the mount Zion, and with Him one hundred and forty-four thousand, having His Father's name written in their foreheads.

²⁹ The righteous shall inherit the land, and dwell in it forever.

¹⁶ Let Your work appear to Your servants, and Your glory to their children. ¹⁷ And let the beauty of the LORD our God be upon us: And establish the work of our hands upon us; yes, the work of our hands, You establish it.

¹⁴ "Because he has set his love upon Me, therefore I will deliver him: I will set him on high, because he has known My name.

²⁸ The children of Your servants shall continue, and their seed shall be established before You."

³ For I will pour water on him who is thirsty, and floods on the dry ground: I will pour My Spirit on your descendants, and My blessing on your offspring: ⁴ And they shall spring up as among the grass, as willows by the water courses.

⁹ And their seed shall be known among the Gentiles, and their offspring among the people: All who see them shall acknowledge them, that they are the seed which the LORD has blessed."

²³ Jesus answered and said to him, "If a man loves Me, he will keep My words: And My Father will love him, and We will come to him, and make Our abode with him.

³⁹ For the promise is to you, and to your children, and to all that are afar off, even as many as the Lord our God shall call."

²⁸ And we know that all things work together for good to those who love God, to those who are the called according to His purpose.

¹² Blessed is the man that endures temptation: For when he is approved, he shall receive the crown of life, which the Lord has promised to those who love Him.

⁵ Hearken, my beloved brethren, has not God chosen the poor of this world to be rich in faith, and heirs of the kingdom which He has promised to those that love Him?

²⁷ And there shall in no case enter into it anything that defiles, neither anything that works abomination, or makes a lie: But those which are written in the Lamb's Book of Life.
