⁴ Deliver me, O my God, out of the hand of the wicked, out of the hand of the unrighteous and cruel man.

²¹ And Ahithophel said to Absalom, "Go in to your father's concubines, which he has left to keep the house; and all Israel shall hear that you are abhorred of your father: Then shall the hands of all that are with you be strong. ²² So they spread Absalom a tent on the top of the house; and Absalom went in to his father's concubines in the sight of all Israel.

¹ Moreover Ahithophel said to Absalom, "Let me now choose out twelve thousand men, and I will arise and pursue after David this night: ² And I will come on him while he is weary and weak handed, and will make him afraid: And all the people that are with him shall flee; and I will smite the king only:

¹² So shall we come on him in some place where he shall be found, and we will light on him as the dew falls on the ground: And of him and of all the men that are with him there shall not be left so much as one. ¹³ Moreover, if he be gotten into a city, then shall all Israel bring ropes to that city, and we will draw it into the river, until there be not one small stone found there. ¹⁴ And Absalom and all the men of Israel said, "The counsel of Hushai the Archite is better than the counsel of Ahithophel. For the LORD had appointed to defeat the good counsel of Ahithophel, to the intent that the LORD might bring evil on Absalom.

²¹ And it came to pass, after they were departed, that they came up out of the well, and went and told king David, and said to David, "Arise, and pass quickly over the water: For thus has Ahithophel counceled against you.

⁸ Keep me as the apple of the eye, hide me under the shadow of Your wings, ⁹ from the wicked that oppress me, from my deadly enemies, who compass around me.

¹³ Arise, O LORD, disappoint him, cast him down: Deliver my soul from the wicked, which are Your sword:

¹ To the chief Musician, Altaschith, Michtam of David; when Saul sent, and they watched the house to kill him. Deliver me from my enemies, O my God: Defend me from those that rise up against me. ² Deliver me from the workers of iniquity, and save me from bloody men.
