¹ Now it came to pass in the days when the judges ruled, that there was a famine in the land. And a certain man of Bethlehem in Judah went to sojourn in the country of Moab, he and his wife, and his two sons. ² And the name of the man was Elimelech, and the name of his wife Naomi, and the names of his two sons Mahlon and Chilion, Ephrathites of Bethlehem in Judah. And they came into the country of Moab, and continued there. ³ And Elimelech, Naomi's husband, died; and she was left, and her two sons. ⁴ And they took themselves wives from the women of Moab; the name of the one was Orpah, and the name of the other Ruth: And they dwelled there about ten years. ⁵ And Mahlon and Chilion also died, both of them; and the woman was left without her two sons and her husband. ⁶ Then she arose with her daughters-in-law, that she might return from the country of Moab: For she had heard in the country of Moab how the LORD had visited His people in giving them bread. ⁷ For this reason she went forth out of the place where she was, and her two daughters-in-law with her; and they went on the way to return to the land of Judah. ⁸ And Naomi said to her two daughters-in-law, "Go, each return to her mother's house: The LORD deal kindly with you, as you have dealt with the dead, and with me. ⁹ The LORD grant you that you may find rest, each of you in the house of her husband." Then she kissed them; and they lifted up their voices, and wept. ¹⁰ And they said to her, "Surely we will return with you to your people." ¹¹ And Naomi said, "Turn again, my daughters: Why will you go with me? Are there yet any more sons in my womb, that they may be your husbands? ¹² Turn again, my daughters, go your way; for I am too old to have a husband. If I should say, 'I have hope', if I should have a husband also tonight, and should also bear sons; ¹³ would you wait for them until they were grown? Would you stay from not having husbands for them? No, my daughters; for it grieves me very much for your sakes that the hand of the LORD has gone out against me." ¹⁴ And they lifted up their voices, and wept again: And Orpah kissed her mother-in-law; but Ruth held onto to her. ¹⁵ And she said, "Behold, your sister-in-law has gone back to her people, and to her gods: Return back with your sister-in-law." ¹⁶ And Ruth said, "Do not entreat me to leave you, or to return from following after you: For where you go, I will go; and where you lodge, I will lodge: Your people shall be my people, and your God my God: ¹⁷ Where you die, I will die, and there I will be buried: The LORD do so to me, and more also, if anything but death parts you and me." ¹⁸ When she saw that she was steadfastly minded to go with her, then she ceased speaking to her. ¹⁹ So those two went until they came to Bethlehem. And it came to pass, when they had come to Bethlehem, that all the city was moved concerning them, and they said, "Is this Naomi?" ²⁰ And she said to them, "Do not call me Naomi, call me Mara: For the Almighty has dealt very bitterly with me. ²¹ I went out full, and the LORD has brought me back home empty: Why then do you call me Naomi, seeing the LORD has testified against me, and the Almighty has afflicted me?" ²² So Naomi returned, and Ruth the Moabitess, her daughter-in-law, with her, both returned out of the country of Moab: And they came to Bethlehem at the beginning of barley harvest.

¹⁰ And there was a famine in the land: And Abram went down into Egypt to sojourn there; for the famine was grievous in the land.

¹ And there was a famine in the land, besides the first famine that was in the days of Abraham. And Isaac went to Abimelech king of the Philistines at Gerar.

¹ And the famine was severe in the land.

¹⁹ And I will break the pride of your power; and I will make your heaven as iron, and your earth as brass:

²³ And your heaven that is over your head shall be brass, and the earth that is under you shall be iron. ²⁴ The LORD shall make the rain of your land powder and dust: From heaven it shall come down upon you, until you are destroyed.

³⁸ You shall carry much seed out into the field, and shall gather but little in; for the locust shall consume it.

¹⁶ Nevertheless the LORD raised up judges, which delivered them out of the hand of those that spoiled them. ¹⁷ And yet they would not listen to their judges, but they went a whoring after other gods, and bowed themselves to them: They turned quickly out of the way which their fathers walked in, obeying the commandments of the LORD; but they did not so. ¹⁸ And when the LORD raised them up judges, then the LORD was with the judge, and delivered them out of the hand of their enemies all the days of the judge: For it repented the LORD because of their groanings by reason of those that oppressed them and vexed them.

⁸ And after him Ibzan of Bethlehem judged Israel.

⁸ And the man departed out of the city from Bethlehemjudah to sojourn where he could find a place: And he came to Mount Ephraim to the house of Micah, as he journeyed.

¹ And it came to pass in those days, when there was no king in Israel, that there was a certain Levite sojourning on the side of Mount Ephraim, who took to him a concubine out of Bethlehemjudah. ² And his concubine played the whore against him, and went away from him to her father's house to Bethlehemjudah, and was there four whole months.

¹ Then there was a famine in the days of David three years, year after year; and David inquired of the LORD. And the LORD answered, It is for Saul, and for his bloody house, because he slew the Gibeonites.

¹ And Elijah the Tishbite, who was of the inhabitants of Gilead, said to Ahab, "As the LORD God of Israel lives, before whom I stand, there shall not be dew nor rain these years, but according to my word. ² And the word of the LORD came to him, saying, ³ get away from here, and turn eastward, and hide yourself by the brook Cherith, that is before the Jordan. ⁴ And it shall be, that you shall drink of the brook; and I have commanded the ravens to feed you there. ⁵ So he went and did according to the word of the LORD: For he went and dwelled by the brook Cherith, that is before the Jordan. ⁶ And the ravens brought him bread and flesh in the morning, and bread and flesh in the evening; and he drank of the brook. ⁷ And it came to pass after a while, that the brook dried up, because there had been no rain in the land. ⁸ And the word of the LORD came to him, saying, ⁹ arise, get you to Zarephath, which belongs to Zidon, and dwell there: Behold, I have commanded a widow woman there to sustain you. ¹⁰ So he arose and went to Zarephath. And when he came to the gate of the city, behold, the widow woman was there gathering of sticks: And he called to her, and said, "Fetch me, I implore you, a little water in a vessel, that I may drink. ¹¹ And as she was going to fetch it, he called to her, and said, "Bring me, I implore you, a morsel of bread in your hand. ¹² And she said, "As the LORD your God lives, I have not a cake, but a handful of meal in a barrel, and a little oil in a jar: And behold, I am gathering two sticks, that I may go in and dress it for me and my son, that we may eat it, and die.

² And Elijah went to show himself to Ahab. And there was a sore famine in Samaria.

¹ Then spoke Elisha to the woman, whose son he had restored to life, saying, "Arise, and go you and your household, and sojourn wherever you can sojourn: For the LORD has called for a famine; and it shall also come upon the land seven years. ² And the woman arose, and did after the saying of the man of God: And she went with her household, and sojourned in the land of the Philistines seven years.

¹⁶ Moreover He called for a famine upon the land: He broke the whole staff of bread.

³⁴ A fruitful land into barrenness, for the wickedness of those who dwell in it.

¹ The word of the LORD that came to Jeremiah concerning the dearth.

¹³ "Son of man, when the land sins against Me by trespassing grievously, then will I stretch out My hand upon it, and will break the staff of its breads, and will send famine on it, and will cut off man and beast from it:

²¹ For thus says the Lord GOD; "How much more when I send My four sore judgments on Jerusalem, the sword, and the famine, and the noisome beast, and the pestilence, to cut off man and beast from it?

¹⁰ The field is wasted, the land mourns; for the grain is wasted: The new wine is dried up, the oil languishes. ¹¹ Be ashamed, O you farmers; howl, O you vinedressers, for the wheat and for the barley; because the harvest of the field has perished.

¹⁶ Is not the food cut off before our eyes, yes, joy and gladness from the house of our God? ¹⁷ The seed is rotten under their clods of earth, the granaries are laid desolate, the barns are broken down; for the grain is withered. ¹⁸ How the beasts groan! The herds of domestic beasts are perplexed, because they have no pasture; yes, the flocks of sheep are made desolate. ¹⁹ O LORD, to You I will cry: For the fire has devoured the pastures of the wilderness, and the flame has burned all the trees of the field. ²⁰ The wild beasts of the field also cry to You: For the rivers of waters are dried up, and the fire has devoured the pastures of the wilderness.

⁶ "And I have also given you cleanness of teeth in all your cities, and a want of bread in all your places: Yet you have not returned to Me", says the LORD.

¹⁹ And Rachel died, and was buried on the way to Ephrath, which is Bethlehem.

¹ Now there was a certain man of Ramathaim-Zophim, from the mount of Ephraim, and his name was Elkanah, the son of Jeroham, the son of Elihu, the son of Tohu, the son of Zuph, an Ephrathite:

²¹ For Israel and the Philistines had put the battle in array, army against army.

² "But you, Bethlehem Ephratah, though you are little among the thousands of Judah, yet out of you He shall come forth to Me that is to be Ruler in Israel; whose goings forth have been from of old, from everlasting."

¹ Now there cried a certain woman of the wives of the sons of the prophets to Elisha, saying, "Your servant my husband is dead; and you know that your servant did fear the LORD: And the creditor is come to take to him my two sons to be servants.

¹⁹ Many are the afflictions of the righteous: But the LORD delivers him out of them all.

⁶ For whom the Lord loves He chastens, and scourges every son whom He receives."

¹⁰ For they indeed chastened us for a few days according to their own pleasure; but He for our profit, that we might be partakers of His holiness. ¹¹ Now no chastening seems to be joyous in the present, but grievous: Nevertheless, afterward it yields the peaceable fruit of righteousness to those which are exercised by it.

³ Neither shall you make marriages with them; your daughter you shall not give to his son, nor his daughter shall you take to your son.

³ An Ammonite or Moabite shall not enter into the congregation of the LORD; even to their tenth generation shall they not enter into the congregation of the LORD forever:

¹ But king Solomon loved many strange women, together with the daughter of Pharaoh, women of the Moabites, Ammonites, Edomites, Zidonians, and Hittites: ² Of the nations concerning which the LORD said to the children of Israel, You shall not go in to them, neither shall they come in to you: For surely they will turn away your heart after their gods: Solomon joined to these in love.

⁵ And Salmon begot Boaz by Rahab, and Boaz begot Obed by Ruth, and Obed begot Jesse,

³⁹ See now that I, even I, am he, and there is no god with me: I kill, and I make alive; I wound, and I heal: Neither is there any that can deliver out of my hand.

³⁰ If his children forsake My law, and do not walk in My judgments; ³¹ if they break My statutes, and do not keep My commandments; ³² then I will visit their transgression with the rod, and their iniquity with stripes.

²¹ Then you shall say in your heart, 'Who has begotten these to me, seeing I have lost my children, and am desolate, a captive, and wandering to and fro? And who has brought these up? Behold, I was left alone; these, where had they been?' "

¹⁹ Your own wickedness shall correct you, and your backslidings shall reprove you: Know therefore and see that it is an evil thing and bitter, that you have forsaken the LORD your God, and that My fear is not in you", said the Lord GOD of hosts.

²⁵ Now there were with us seven brothers: After the first had married a wife, he died, and having no offspring, left his wife to his brother: ²⁶ Likewise the second also, and the third, until the seventh. ²⁷ And last of all, the woman died also.

¹² Now when He came near the gate of the city, behold, there was a dead man being carried out, the only son of his mother, and she was a widow: And a great many people from the city were with her.

¹ And the LORD visited Sarah as He had said, and the LORD did to Sarah as He had spoken.

²⁰ And Jacob vowed a vow, saying, "If God will be with me, and will keep me in this way that I go, and will give me bread to eat, and clothing to put on,

¹⁵ And he blessed Joseph, and said, "God, before whom my fathers Abraham and Isaac walked, the God which fed me all my life long to this day,

²⁵ And Joseph took an oath of the children of Israel, saying, "God will surely visit you, and you shall carry up my bones from this place."

¹⁶ Go, and gather the elders of Israel together, and say to them, 'The LORD God of your fathers, the God of Abraham, of Isaac, and of Jacob, appeared to me, saying, "I have surely visited you, and seen that which is done to you in Egypt:

³¹ And the people believed: And when they heard that the LORD had visited the children of Israel, and that He had looked upon their affliction, then they bowed their heads and worshiped.

⁴ Then the LORD said to Moses, "Behold, I will rain bread from heaven for you; and the people shall go out and gather a certain allowance every day, that I may prove them, whether they will walk in My law, or not. ⁵ And it shall come to pass, that on the sixth day they shall prepare that which they bring in; and it shall be twice as much as they gather daily." ⁶ And Moses and Aaron said to all the children of Israel, "At sunset, you shall then know that the LORD has brought you out from the land of Egypt:

²¹ And the LORD visited Hannah, so that she conceived, and she bore three sons and two daughters. And the child Samuel grew before the LORD.

¹⁴ He causes the grass to grow for the domestic beasts, and herbs for the service of man: That he may bring forth food out of the earth; ¹⁵ and wine that makes glad the heart of man, and oil to make his face shine, and bread which strengthens man's heart.

⁵ He has given meat to those who fear Him: He will always be mindful of His covenant.

¹⁵ I will abundantly bless her provision: I will satisfy her poor with bread.

¹⁵ The eyes of all wait upon You; and You give them their food in due season.

⁷ Which executes justice for the oppressed: Which gives food to the hungry. The LORD lets loose the prisoners:

¹⁴ He makes peace within your borders, and fills you with the finest of the wheat.

⁸ Remove far from me vanity and lies: Give me neither poverty nor riches; feed me with food convenient for me:

¹⁰ For as the rain comes down, and the snow from heaven, and does not return there, but waters the earth, and makes it bring forth and bud, that it may give seed to the sower, and bread to the eater:

¹⁰ For thus says the LORD, 'That after seventy years are accomplished at Babylon I will visit you, and perform My good word toward you, in causing you to return to this place.

⁷ And the coast shall be for the remnant of the house of Judah; they shall feed there: In the houses of Ashkelon they shall lie down in the evening: For the LORD their God shall visit them, and turn away their captivity.

¹¹ Give us this day our daily bread.

⁶⁸ "Blessed be the Lord God of Israel; for He has visited and redeemed His people,

⁴⁴ and shall level you even with the ground, and your children within you; and they shall not leave one stone upon another in you; because you did not know the time of your visitation."

⁸ And having food and clothing, let us be content with these.

¹² having your conversation honest among the Gentiles: That while they speak against you as evildoers, they may by your good works, which they shall behold, glorify God in the day of visitation.

²⁷ And Moses let his father-in-law depart; and he went his way into his own land.

¹⁰ And they said to her, "Surely we will return with you to your people."

¹⁴ And they lifted up their voices, and wept again: And Orpah kissed her mother-in-law; but Ruth held onto to her.

³ And it came to pass at the seven years' end, that the woman returned out of the land of the Philistines: And she went forth to cry to the king for her house and for her land.

¹⁵ And if it seem evil to you to serve the LORD, choose this day whom you will serve; whether the gods which your fathers served that were on the other side of the flood, or the gods of the Amorites, in whose land you dwell: But as for me and my house, we will serve the LORD. ¹⁶ And the people answered and said, "God forbid that we should forsake the LORD, to serve other gods; ¹⁷ for the LORD our God, he it is that brought us up and our fathers out of the land of Egypt, from the house of bondage, and which did those great signs in our sight, and preserved us in all the way in which we went, and among all the people through whom we passed: ¹⁸ And the LORD drove out from before us all the people, even the Amorites which dwelled in the land: Therefore will we also serve the LORD; for He is our God. ¹⁹ And Joshua said to the people, You cannot serve the LORD: For he is a holy God; he is a jealous God; he will not forgive your transgressions nor your sins. ²⁰ If you forsake the LORD, and serve strange gods, then he will turn and do you hurt, and consume you, after that he has done you good. ²¹ And the people said to Joshua, "No; but we will serve the LORD. ²² And Joshua said to the people, You are witnesses against yourselves that you have chosen you the LORD, to serve him. And they said, "We are witnesses. ²³ Now therefore put away, he said, the strange gods which are among you, and incline your heart to the LORD God of Israel. ²⁴ And the people said to Joshua, "The LORD our God will we serve, and his voice will we obey. ²⁵ So Joshua made a covenant with the people that day, and set them a statute and an ordinance in Shechem. ²⁶ And Joshua wrote these words in the book of the law of God, and took a great stone, and set it up there under an oak, that was by the sanctuary of the LORD. ²⁷ And Joshua said to all the people, Behold, this stone shall be a witness to us; for it has heard all the words of the LORD which he spoke to us: It shall be therefore a witness to you, lest you deny your God. ²⁸ So Joshua let the people depart, every man to his inheritance.

⁵ And Mahlon and Chilion also died, both of them; and the woman was left without her two sons and her husband.

²⁰ And Naomi said to her daughter-in-law, "Blessed is he of the LORD, who has not left off His kindness to the living and to the dead." And Naomi said to her, "The man is near of kin to us, one of our next kinsmen."

²⁵ And large multitudes went with Him: And He turned, and said to them, ²⁶ "If anyone comes to Me, and does not hate his father, mother, wife, children, brethren, and sisters, yes, and his own life also, he cannot be My disciple. ²⁷ And whoever does not bear his cross, and come after Me, cannot be My disciple. ²⁸ For which of you, intending to build a tower, does not sit down first, and count the cost, whether he has enough to finish it? ²⁹ Lest perhaps, after he has laid the foundation, and is not able to finish it, all that behold it begin to mock him, ³⁰ saying, 'This man began to build, and was not able to finish.' ³¹ Or what king, going to make war against another king, does not sit down first, and consult whether he is able with ten thousand to meet him that comes against him with twenty thousand? ³² Or else, while the other is still a great way off, he sends a delegation, and desires conditions of peace. ³³ So likewise, whoever he is among you who does not forsake all that he has, he cannot be My disciple.

²² Wives, submit yourselves to your own husbands, as to the Lord.

² "Honor your father and mother"; (which is the first commandment with promise); ³ "that it may be well with you, and you may live long on the earth."

¹⁸ But I have all, and abound: I am full, having received from Epaphroditus the things which were sent from you, a sweet smelling savor, an acceptable sacrifice, well-pleasing to God. ¹⁹ But my God shall supply all your need according to His riches in glory by Christ Jesus.

¹⁸ Wives, submit yourselves to your own husbands, as is fitting in the Lord.

²⁴ knowing that from the Lord you shall receive the reward of the inheritance: For you serve the Lord Christ.

¹⁶ The Lord give mercy to the house of Onesiphorus; for he often refreshed me, and was not ashamed of my chain: ¹⁷ But when he was in Rome, he sought me out very diligently, and found me. ¹⁸ The Lord grant to him that he may find mercy from the Lord in that day: And you know very well in how many things he ministered to me at Ephesus.

²⁷ And he came near, and kissed him: And he smelled the smell of his clothing, and blessed him, and said, "See, the smell of my son is as the smell of a field which the LORD has blessed:

¹¹ And Jacob kissed Rachel, and lifted up his voice, and wept.

¹⁵ Moreover he kissed all his brothers, and wept upon them: And after that his brothers talked with him.

¹ And Naomi her mother-in-law said to her, "My daughter, shall I not seek rest for you, that it may be well with you?

³⁷ Moreover they all wept deeply, and fell on Paul's neck, and kissed him,

³ but to the saints that are in the earth, and to the excellent, in whom is all my delight.

⁶³ I am a companion of all those that fear You, and of those that keep Your precepts.

²³ Thus says the LORD of hosts; 'In those days it shall come to pass, that ten men shall take hold out of all languages of the nations, even shall take hold of the skirt of him that is a Jew, saying, "We will go with you: For we have heard that God is with you."

¹¹ Then Judah said to Tamar his daughter-in-law, "Remain a widow at your father's house, until Shelah my son is grown": For he said, "Lest peradventure he die also, as his brothers did." And Tamar went and dwelled in her father's house.

⁵ If brothers dwell together, and one of them dies, and has no child, the wife of the dead shall not marry outside his family to a stranger: Her husband's brother shall go in to her, and take her to him to wife, and perform the duty of a husband's brother to her.

¹⁷ Then Abraham fell upon his face, and laughed, and said in his heart, "Shall a child be born to him that is a hundred years old? And shall Sarah, that is ninety years old, bear?"

⁹ Do not let a widow be taken into the number under sixty years old, and if having been the wife of one man,

¹⁵ For indeed the hand of the LORD was against them, to destroy them from among the host, until they were consumed.

¹⁵ Wherever they went out, the hand of the LORD was against them for evil, as the LORD had said, "and as the LORD had sworn to them: And they were greatly distressed.

¹¹ So they sent and gathered together all the lords of the Philistines, and said, "Send away the ark of the God of Israel, and let it go again to his own place, that it does not slay us, and our people": For there was a deadly destruction throughout all the city: The hand of God was very heavy there.

²¹ Have pity on me, have pity on me, O you my friends; for the hand of God has touched me.

⁴ For day and night your hand was heavy upon me: My moisture is turned into the drought of summer. Selah.

² For Your arrows stick fast in me, and Your hand presses me sore.

⁹ I was dumb, I did not open my mouth; because you did it. ¹⁰ Remove Your stroke away from me: I am consumed by the blow of Your hand.

²⁸ And have not allowed me to kiss my sons and my daughters? You have now done foolishly in so doing.

⁵⁵ And early in the morning Laban rose up, and kissed his sons and his daughters, and blessed them: And Laban departed, and returned to his place.

⁴ But you that did join to the LORD your God are alive every one of you this day.

²⁰ You shall fear the LORD your God; him shall you serve, and to him shall you hold, and swear by his name.

²⁰ And he left the oxen, and ran after Elijah, and said, "Let me, I implore you, kiss my father and my mother, and then I will follow you. And he said to him, "Go back again: For what have I done to you?

¹⁷ A friend loves at all times, and a brother is born for adversity.

²⁴ A man that has friends must show himself friendly: And there is a friend that sticks closer than a brother.

¹ For the LORD will have mercy on Jacob, and will yet choose Israel, and set them in their own land: And the strangers shall be joined with them, and they shall join to the house of Jacob.

³⁷ He who loves father or mother more than Me is not worthy of Me: And he who loves son or daughter more than Me is not worthy of Me.

²⁴ Then Jesus said to His disciples, "If any man will come after Me, let him deny himself, and take up his cross, and follow Me.

²² But when the young man heard that saying, he went away sorrowful: For he had many possessions.

²¹ Then Jesus beholding him loved him, and said to him, "One thing you lack: Go your way, sell whatever you have, and give to the poor, and you shall have treasure in heaven: And come, take up the cross, and follow Me." ²² And he was sad at that word, and went away grieved: For he had great possessions.

You have the words of eternal life. ⁶⁹ And we believe and are sure that You are the Christ, the Son of the living God."

³⁴ Nevertheless, certain men united with him, and believed: Among them was Dionysius the Areopagite, and a woman named Damaris, and others with them.

¹⁰ For Demas has forsaken me, having loved this present world, and has departed to Thessalonica; Crescens to Galatia, Titus to Dalmatia.

³⁹ But we are not of those who draw back to perdition; but of those that believe to the saving of the soul.

² And Elijah said to Elisha, "Tarry here, I implore you; for the LORD has sent me to Bethel. And Elisha said to him, "As the LORD lives, and as your soul lives, I will not leave you. So they went down to Bethel.

³ The words of his mouth are iniquity and deceit: He has forsaken to be wise, and to do good.

⁵ As for such as turn aside to their crooked ways, the LORD shall lead them away with the workers of iniquity: But peace shall be upon Israel.

⁶ and those that are turned back from the LORD; and those that have not sought the LORD, nor inquired for Him."

²⁰ But he that received the seed into stony places, the same is he that hears the word, and immediately receives it with joy; ²¹ yet he has no root in himself, but endures for a while: Then when tribulation or persecution arises because of the word, immediately he is offended.

²⁸ Then they drew near to the village where they were going: And He made out as though He would have gone farther.

³⁸ Now the just shall live by faith: But if any man draws back, My soul shall have no pleasure in him."

¹⁹ They went out from us, but they were not of us; for if they had been of us, they would no doubt have continued with us: But they went out, that they might be made manifest that they were not all of us.

¹⁰ Listen, O daughter, and consider, and incline your ear; forget also your own people, and your father's house;

⁴⁷ The king answered to Daniel, and said, "It is true that your God is a God of gods, and a Lord of kings, and a revealer of secrets, seeing you could reveal this secret."

⁹ For they themselves bring word to us regarding what manner of entering in we had used among you, and how you turned to God from idols to serve the living and true God;

⁴ These are they which were not defiled with women; for they are virgins. These are they who follow the Lamb wherever He goes. These were redeemed from among men, being the firstfruits to God and to the Lamb.

²⁴ But none of these things move me, neither do I count my life dear to myself, so that I might finish my course with joy, and the ministry, which I have received from the Lord Jesus, to testify the gospel of the grace of God.

⁴² And they continued steadfastly in the apostles' doctrine and fellowship, in the breaking of bread, and in prayers.

¹⁴ Now when he would not be persuaded, we ceased, saying, "The will of the Lord be done."

¹⁰ Finally, my brethren, be strong in the Lord, and in the power of His might.

⁷ Can you by searching find out God? Can you find out the Almighty to perfection?

⁶ Know now that God has overthrown me, and has compassed me with his net.

¹¹ Now no chastening seems to be joyous in the present, but grievous: Nevertheless, afterward it yields the peaceable fruit of righteousness to those which are exercised by it.

⁸ "I am Alpha and Omega, the beginning and the ending", says the Lord, "which is, and which was, and which is to come, the Almighty."

²² And I saw no temple in it: For the Lord God Almighty and the Lamb are the temple of it.

⁷ The LORD makes poor, and makes rich: He brings low, and lifts up. ⁸ He raises up the poor out of the dust, and lifts up the beggar from the dunghill, to set them among princes, and to make them inherit the throne of glory: For the pillars of the earth are the LORD's, and He has set the world upon them.

²¹ and said, "Naked came I out of my mother's womb, and naked shall I return thither: The LORD gave, and the LORD has taken away; blessed be the name of the LORD.

¹⁷ You renew your witnesses against me, and increase your indignation on me; changes and war are against me.

²⁶ For you write bitter things against me, and make me to possess the iniquities of my youth.

⁸ And you have filled me with wrinkles, which is a witness against me: And my leanness rising up in me bears witness to my face.

⁵ And I will come near to you to decree judgment; and I will be a swift witness against the sorcerers, and against the adulterers, and against false swearers, and against those that oppress the hireling in his wages, the widow, and the fatherless, and that turn aside the stranger from his rights, and do not fear Me", says the LORD of hosts.

³¹ And the flax and the barley was smitten: For the barley was in the ear, and the flax was in bloom. ³² But the wheat and the rye were not smitten: For they were not grown up.

²³ So she kept close by the maidens of Boaz to glean until the end of barley harvest and of wheat harvest. And she lived with her mother-in-law.

⁹ And he delivered them into the hands of the Gibeonites, and they hanged them in the hill before the LORD: And they fell all seven together, and were put to death in the days of harvest, on the first days, in the beginning of barley harvest.
