¹⁹ What then, do I say that an idol is any thing? or that what is sacrificed to an idol is any thing?

²¹ They have provoked me by what is not God; Have exasperated me with their idols; I therefore will provoke them by what is not a nation, By a foolish nation I will vex them.

¹⁷ and all the nations are as nothing and reckoned as nothing:

²⁹ For are these they who made you? They are indeed those who vainly lead you astray.

²⁸ and the ignoble of this world, and those of no account, God hath chosen; nay, the very nothings, to put a stop to the operation of the things which are,

⁷ So that neither the planter nor the waterer is any thing; it is God only who giveth growth.

⁴ Therefore in respect to the eating of things offered to idols, we know that an idol is nothing in the world: and that there is no other God but one.

² and though I have a gift of prophesy and understand all the mysteries and all this knowledge; and though I have all that faith, so as to remove mountains; if I have not love, I am nothing.

¹¹ I am become a foolish boaster! you have compelled me. For I ought to have been commended by you. For I am not a whit behind the chiefest apostles, although I am nothing.
