¹¹ Now there dwelt at Baithel a certain old prophet, and his sons came, and told him all that the man of God had done that day at Baithel, and the words which he spoke to the king, and excited the attention of their father.

⁴ So Balak stood by his sacrifice. And Balaam went to inquire of God: and as he was going straight forward, God appeared to Balaam: And Balaam said to him, I have prepared seven altars, and offered a young bull, and a ram, on each altar. ⁵ And God put a word in the mouth of Balaam, and said, Return to Balak, and thus thou shalt say.

² And when Balaam raised his eyes, and saw Israel encamped by tribes, a spirit of God came upon him, and he took up his parable, and said,

¹¹ Now they were all acquainted with him heretofore, and when they saw him among the prophets, the people said one to another, What is this which hath happened to the son of Kis? Is Saul also among the prophets?

²⁵ And behold men who were passing by saw the corpse lying in the high way, and the lion standing near the corpse, and they came and spoke of it in the city where the old prophet dwelt.

¹⁸ he said, Let him alone, Let no man move his bones. So his bones escaped with the bones of the prophet, who came from Samaria.

² Son of man, prophesy against the prophets of Israel and thou shalt prophesy and say to them, Hear a word of the Lord,

¹⁶ namely, the prophets of Israel who prophesy concerning Jerusalem and who see peace for her when there is no peace, saith the Lord.

²² Many will say to me on that day Lord, Lord, have we not prophesied in thy name and in thy name cast out demons, and in thy name done many miracles,

⁵ [for if one doth not know how to preside over his own household, how can he take care of the congregation of God;]

¹⁶ and was convicted of his transgression. [A dumb beast, speaking with a human voice, restrained the madness of the prophet.]
