⁵ Likewise ye who are young, submit to those more advanced in years. And being all submissive to one another; adorn yourselves with humility; because "God resisteth the proud and granteth favour to the humble;"

³² you shall rise up before the hoary head, and honour the face of an elder, and fear thy God. I am the Lord your God;

⁴¹ And, now, arise, Lord God, into thy rest, thou and the ark of thy strength. Let thy priests, Lord God, be clothed with salvation, and thy children made glad with good things.

²⁹ Because thou hast humbled thyself, thou wilt say, Such a one was insolent; but he will save him whose eyes are lowly.

¹⁴ I put on righteousness and cloathed myself with justice as with a mantle.

⁹ Let thy priests be clothed with righteousness, and thy saints shout for joy.

¹⁶ Her priests I will clothe with salvation; and her saints shall shout for joy.

³⁴ The Lord resisteth the proud; but he granteth favour to the humble.

¹⁵ Thus saith the Most High, who on earth inhabiteth eternity, who is Holy among holies; whose name is THE MOST HIGH; who at rest in the holies giveth patience to the humble, and life to them who are of a contrite heart;

¹⁰ And they shall rejoice in the Lord with joy.[c] Rejoice in the Lord, my soul, for he hath clothed me with the mantle of Salvation, and with an under garment of gladness, he hath crowned me as a bridegroom with a crown and adorned me as a bride, with jewels,

² For all these things my hand hath made: and all these things are mine saith the Lord. Upon whom therefore will I look down, but upon him only who is humble and quiet, and who trembleth at my words?

¹⁰ in brotherly love be tenderly affectionate one to another: in honour prefer one another;

¹⁴ but put on the Lord Jesus Christ, and make not provision for the flesh to fulfil its desires.

²¹ Be subject to one another in the fear of God.

³ upon nothing out of a spirit of contention or vain glory, but in lowliness of mind esteeming one another better than yourselves,

¹² put on therefore as chosen of God, holy and beloved, bowels of tender mercies, gentleness, humility, meekness, long suffering,

¹⁷ Obey your leaders and yield to them [for they are watching over your souls,[as they who must give an account] that they may do it with joy and not with grief; for this would be unprofitable for you.

⁶ It granteth indeed a greater favour, therefore it saith, "God resisteth the proud, and granteth favour to the humble."

³ And let your adorning be, not that which is external by plaiting the hair with appendages of gold, nor finery of dress; ⁴ but the hidden man of the heart, with the incorruptible ornament of a meek and quiet spirit, which is highly precious in the sight of God.

¹ Christ therefore having suffered in flesh for us, arm ye yourselves with this reflection, that he who hath suffered in flesh hath been stopped from sin,

⁵ They shall give an account to him who is prepared to judge living and dead.
