⁹ Then Haman went out from the king overjoyed and gladdened, but upon seeing Mordecai the Jew in the court, he was inflamed with great indignation.

²⁰ The whole life of the wicked is spent in anxiety. Though a certain number of years is given to the oppressor:

⁴ Passion hath taken possession of thee. What! If thou die, shall the earth be uninhabited? Or the mountains overturned from their foundations?

² Vanity of vanities, said the preacher. Vanity of vanities. All is vanity.

¹⁴ I took a view of all the different sorts of work which are done under the sun. And behold they are all vanity and vexation of spirit.

¹¹ Not that I speak with regard to want; for I have learned, in whatever circumstances I am, to be contented. ¹² I know how to be brought low; and I know how to abound: in every respect, and in all things, I have been initiated into the mysteries of feeding plentifully, and suffering hunger; of abounding, and being in want.
