³ by this spirit he will be filled with the fear of God. He will not judge according to opinion, nor will he reprove according to report;

⁷ But the Lord said to Samuel, Look not on his countenance, nor the height of his stature, for I have rejected him: for God looketh not superficially as man looketh; for man looketh at the outward appearance, but God will look to the heart.

¹⁷ Then the woman said, Let the word of my lord the king be, I pray, for a sacrifice; for since my lord the king is as an angel of God to discern what is good and what is bad, surely the Lord thy God must be with thee.

⁹ give therefore to thy servant a heart to hear and to judge thy people righteously, and to discern between good and evil; for who can judge this thy people,

²⁸ And when all Israel heard the judgment which the king had given, they feared the king, for they saw that there was in him the wisdom of God to execute judgment.

¹¹ The ear indeed discerneth words and the palate tasteth meats.

³ For the ear trieth words and the palate tasteth meats.

⁵ then thou shalt understand the fear of the Lord; and find the knowledge of God.

⁹ Then thou shalt understand judgment and justice; and direct all thy wheels right.

⁶ [c] By law they were to be delivered up; in treasures is our safety. [p] Let there be there wisdom and knowledge and piety towards the Lord, [These are the treasures of righteousness;]

⁵² And Jesus advanced in wisdom and stature, and in favour with God and men.

²⁴ Judge not according to appearance, but judge righteous judgment.

¹⁵ You judge according to the flesh, I judge no one. ¹⁶ Yet if I judge, my judgment is true, because I am not alone, but I and the Father who sent me.

¹³ which things we indeed speak, not in set words of human wisdom, but in the dictated words of a holy spirit, explaining spiritual things by spiritual words. ¹⁴ Now an animal man receiveth not those dictates of the spirit of God; for they are foolishness to him, and he cannot know them, because they are to be spiritually examined; ¹⁵ but the spiritual man examineth all things, and is himself examined by no man.

³ To me indeed it is a matter of very small concern, to be tried by you or by human process; nay, I will not be my own judge. ⁴ For though I am not conscious to myself of an' thing amiss, yet even in that case I am not justified; but he who trieth me is the Lord. ⁵ So pass no judgment prematurely, until the Lord come, who will bring to light the hidden things of darkness, and expose to view the counsels of the hearts, and then the praise for every one will be from God.

⁹ and this I pray that your love may abound still more and more, in knowledge and all discernment, ¹⁰ that you may prove the things which differ"that you may be sincere and inoffensive till the day of Christ,

¹⁴ and this strong food is for full grown men, who by long practice and exercise have their senses improved for the discernment of both good and evil.
