¹³ The far distant nations shall hear what I have done, they who are near shall know my power.

¹⁴ Nations have heard and are troubled: Pangs have taken hold of the inhabitants of Phylisteim;

⁹ and said to them, I know that the Lord hath given you this land; for the dread of you is fallen upon us: ¹⁰ for we have heard that the Lord God dried up the Bed sea on your account, when you came out of Egypt, and all that he hath done to the two kings of the Amorites who were on the borders of the Jordan, to Seon and Og, whom you have utterly destroyed: ¹¹ and, upon hearing these things, we became faint hearted, and there was no spirit in any of us because of you. Since, then, the Lord your God is God in heaven above, and in the earth beneath,

⁹ And they said, Thy servants are come from a very far distant country, because of the name of the Lord thy God; for we have heard of his name, and of all that he hath done in Egypt, ¹⁰ and what he hath done to the kings of the Amorites, who were on the border of the Jordan, to Seon king of the Amorites, and to Og the king of Basan, who dwelt at Asteroth and Edrain.

⁴⁶ And the Lord will deliver thee this day into my hand, and I will kill thee, and cut off thy head, and give thy carcass, and the carcasses of the army of the Philistines this day, to the birds of the air, and to the wild beasts of the earth; that all the earth may know that there is a God in Israel;

⁶ The nations were troubled, kingdoms tottered; he uttered his voice, the earth was shaken. ⁷ The Lord of armies is with us; our helper is the God of Jacob. ⁸ Come and see the works of the Lord: The wonders which he hath done on the earth: ⁹ he is making wars to cease to the ends of the earth. He will break the bow and shiver the lance, and shields he will utterly consume with fire. ¹⁰ Be still and know that I am God: let me be exalted among the nations, let me be exalted in the earth. ¹¹ The Lord of armies is with us, our helper is the God of Jacob.

¹⁰ According to thy name, God; so be thy praise to the ends of the earth. Thy right hand is full of righteousness.

⁸ Sion heard, and was glad, and the daughters of Judea rejoiced, because of thy judgments, Lord.

¹ A Psalm by David. Sing to the Lord, a new song, that the Lord hath done wonderful things. His own right hand and his holy arm hath saved him. ² The Lord hath made known his salvation: he hath displayed his forgiving mercy before the nations.

² The Lord is great in Sion and high over all the tribes. ³ Let them praise thy great name, for it is awful and holy.

²⁰ therefore they destroyed them. But now, Lord, our God, save us out of their hands that every kingdom of the earth may know, that thou alone art God."

¹⁹ peace upon peace to them near and to them far off. So the Lord said, I will heal them.

²⁷ And the satraps and the generals and the governors and the mighty men of the king gathered round and viewed the men with astonishment; for the fire had not had any power over their body. Even the hair of their heads was not singed, nor were their mantles changed, nor a smell of fire on them.

²⁵ Then Darius the king wrote; To all the peoples, tribes and languages who dwell in the whole earth, Peace be multiplied to you. ²⁶ From my presence this decree is established, that in every government of my kingdom men tremble and be struck with awe at the presence of the God of Daniel; for he is the living God and endureth forever, and his kingdom can never be destroyed and his dominion will be to the end. ²⁷ He supporteth and delivereth and doth signs and wonders in heaven and on earth. He it is who hath delivered Daniel from the power of the lions.

⁵ Now there were residing at Jerusalem Jews, devout men from every nation under heaven. ⁶ So when this report spread, the multitude came together and were confounded. Because every one heard them speaking in his own peculiar dialect; ⁷ therefore they were astonished and expressed their amazement, saying one to another, Behold! are not all these men who speak, Galileans?" ⁸ How then do we hear, every one in his own native tongue! ⁹ Parthians and Medes and Elamites and the inhabitants of Mesopotamia and Judea, and Capadocia, Pontus and Asia, ¹⁰ Phrygia and Pamphilia, Egypt and the parts of Lybia about Gyrene, the Roman strangers also both Jews and Proselytes, ¹¹ Cretans and Arabs, we hear them speaking, in our own tongues, the wonderful dispensations of God.

¹¹ Wherefore remember that you were formerly the nations in flesh, those denominated uncircumcision by the nominal circumcision made with hands, in flesh ¹² that you were at that time without Christ; aliens from the commonwealth of Israel, and strangers to the covenants of the promise, having no hope, and being without God in the world: ¹³ but now by Christ Jesus, you, who were formerly far off, are brought near by the blood of the Christ; ¹⁴ for he is our peace. He it is, who hath made both one, and who hath demolished the partition wall, ¹⁵ having; by his flesh put a stop to the enmity; the law of the commandments [contained] in positive injunctions; that he might frame the two anew, in himself, into one new man, making peace; ¹⁶ and reconcile them both in one body, to God by means of the cross, having by that slain the enmity. ¹⁷ And being come he hath proclaimed the glad tidings of peace to you who were far off, and to them who were near. ¹⁸ Because through him we both have access to the father by one spirit,
