For they shall bury in Tophet for want of room. ³³ And the carcasses of this people shall be for food for the birds of the air and the wild beasts of the earth; and there shall be none to scare them away. ³⁴ And I will cause to cease from the cities of Juda and from the streets of Jerusalem, the voice of joy and the voice of gladness; the voice of the bridegroom and the voice of the bride; for the whole land shall be a desolation."

³ Therefore hear, Israel, and be careful to perform; that it may be well with thee, and that you may be greatly multiplied, as the Lord, the God of thy fathers, hath promised to give thee a land flowing with milk and honey. These indeed are the rules of rectitude, and the judgments, which the Lord gave in charge to the children of Israel, in the wilderness, on their coming out of the land of Egypt.

¹⁶ Ephraim is in distress. His roots are withered. He shall no more produce fruit. For though they bring forth, I will slay the beloved fruit of the womb. ¹⁷ God will cast them off because they hearkened not to him; and they shall be wanderers among the nations.

² The more I called them, the more they ran from my presence. They sacrificed to the Baalim s, and burned incense to graven images;

⁷ [p] His people are indeed in imminent danger of being removed from their dwelling, will God be provoked against his honours so as never to exalt him?

¹ But this Ephraim is an evil spirit, he pursued a blasting wind the whole day. He multiplied emptiness and vanity. Though he made a covenant with the Assyrians, yet oil went continually to Egypt.

¹⁶ [J] Samaria shall be utterly destroyed: because she rebelled against her God, they shall fall by the sword; and their infants shall be dashed to pieces, and their women with child shall be ripped up.

²¹ [J] I have hated, I have rejected your festivals, and I will not smell your sacrifices at your solemn assemblies. ²² Therefore though you offer me whole burnt offerings, I will not accept your sacrifices nor regard your sumptuous peace offerings. ²³ Take from me the noise of thy songs, and let me not hear the melody of musical instruments;

² that the pious is perished from the land, and among men there is not an upright man left! [J] They are all indicted for capital crimes: they grievously afflict every man his neighbour: ³ they are preparing their hands for evil. The chief asketh and the judge hath spoken words of peace! He is entirely at his devotion; ⁴ therefore I will take away their good things, like a consuming moth advancing regularly in the clay of visitation. [p] Alas! alas! thy punishments are come; now will their lamentations be;" ⁵ Trust not in friends, nor confide in rulers, against the wife of thy bosom be on thy guard; to trust nothing to her:

¹³ And the land shall be for desolation with them who inhabit it, for the fruits of their devices.

⁶ At the presence of his wrath who can stand, or who can resist his fierce indignation? His wrath dissolveth governments, and by him the rocks are rent to pieces.

² This dove hearkened not to a voice. She received not instruction: she trusted not in the Lord; nor did she draw near to her God:

Since every thief on the one hand is to be punished with death, and every false swearer on the other hand is to be punished; ⁴ therefore I will bring it out saith the Lord Almighty; and it shall enter into the house of the thief, and into the house of him who sweareth by my name to a falsehood; and it shall lodge in his house, and destroy it with the timber and the stones thereof.

⁹ Thus saith the Lord Almighty, Execute just judgment and shew mercy and compassion one to another; ¹⁰ and oppress not the widow, nor the orphan, nor the stranger, nor the poor; and let none treasure up in his heart for evil an injury done by his brother; ¹¹ but they refused to attend and turned back contemptuously; and stopped their ears that they might not hear; ¹² and made their heart disobedient that they might not hearken to my law; therefore [according to the words which the Lord Almighty by his spirit sent by the ministry of the former prophets] there was great wrath from the Lord Almighty; ¹³ that it might come to pass as he said, "As they hearkened not, so they shall cry and I will not listen, saith the Lord Almighty,

⁸ and remove three shepherds in one month; and my soul will be weighed down against them. For as their souls roared against me, ⁹ therefore I said, I will not feed you, What is dying let it die; and what is fainting let it faint. And as for the rest, let them devour every one the flesh of his neighbour.

⁵ And I will bring to judgment before you and be a swift witness against sorcerers, and against adulteresses, and against them who swear by my name to a falsehood, and against them who deprive the hireling of his wages, and them who oppress the widow, and them who buffet the fatherless, and them who turn aside the cause of the stranger, and them who do not fear me, saith the Lord Almighty.

¹ For behold a day is coming, heated like an oven, which shall set them on fire. And all aliens and all workers of iniquity shall be like stubble. The day which is coming shall blaze upon them, saith the Lord Almighty, and of them neither root nor branch shall be left.

⁷ And seeing many of the Pharisees and Sadducees coming to his baptism, he said to them," Brood of vipers! who hath prompted you to flee from the impending wrath. ⁸ Produce therefore fruits worthy of this reformation, ⁹ and presume not to say within yourselves, We have Abraham for our father! For I say to you, God is able out of these stones to raise up children for Abraham. ¹⁰ Now the axe is at the root of the trees. Every tree therefore which doth not produce good fruit is to be cut down and cast into the fire.

¹³ Go then and learn what this meaneth, "I desire mercy rather than sacrifice;" for I did not come to call righteous men, but sinners to reformation.

²⁸ From Caiaphas they led Jesus away to the judgment hall of the Roman governor. Now it was early in the morning and they themselves did not go into the hall that they might not be polluted, but that they might eat the passover.

⁴⁰ And with many other words he obtested and exhorted them, saying, "Save yourselves from this depraved generation."

⁵¹ O stiff necked and uncircumcised in heart and ears Ye do always resist the Holy Spirit. As your fathers did, so do ye.

²⁷ For I have not shrunk from declaring to you the whole counsel of God.

¹⁷ Behold thou art called a Jew, and thou restest on the law and gloriest in God, ¹⁸ and knowest his will, and triest things which differ, being instructed out of the law, ¹⁹ and hast a confidence that thou thyself art a guide of the blind, a light to them who are in darkness, ²⁰ an instructor of the ignorant, a teacher of babes, having the form of the knowledge and of the truth in the law. ²¹ Thou therefore who teachest another, dost thou not teach thyself? Thou who proclaimest not to steal, dost thou steal? ²² Thou who sayest, Commit not adultery', dost thou commit adultery? Thou who abominatest idols, dost thou violate things sacred? ²³ Thou who gloriest in a law, dost thou by the breach of that law dishonour God? ²⁴ For as it is written, "On your account the name of God is blasphemed among the nations." ²⁵ For circumcision is indeed profitable if thou performest the law. But if thou art a transgressor of the law thy circumcision is become uncircumcision. ²⁶ If then the uncircumcision keep the moral precepts of the law, shall not such a one's uncircumcision be accounted circumcision? ²⁷ And may not the uncircumcision which in a state of nature performeth the law, judge thee who being under a written law and circumcision art a transgressor of law? ²⁸ For he is not a Jew, who is one outwardly; nor is that circumcision, which is barely in the flesh: ²⁹ but he, who is a Jew inwardly, whose circumcision is that of the heart"spiritually not literally, whose praise is not from men, but from God.

²⁶ but which is now laid open, and by prophetic writings made known to all the nations, according to an order of the everlasting God, for the obedience of belief

⁹ Do you not know that the unjust shall not inherit the kingdom of God? Be not deceived; neither fornicators, nor idolaters, nor adulterers, nor the voluptuous, nor sodomites, ¹⁰ nor thieves, nor such as indulge inordinate desires, nor drunkards, nor railers, nor extortioners, shall inherit the kingdom of God.

²² Are we provoking the Lord to jealousy? Are we stronger than he?

⁵ demolishing surmises and every mount raised against the knowledge of God, and bringing every sentiment captive to the obedience of the Christ;

¹⁹ Now the works of the flesh are manifest"they are these"adultery, fornication, uncleanness, lasciviousness, ²⁰ idolatry, fascinations, enmities, strifes, emulations, .animosities, contentions, factions, sects, ²¹ envyings, murders, drunkenness, revellings, and the like, of which I forewarn you, as I have indeed before declared that they who practise such things shall not inherit the kingdom of God:

⁵ For this you know that no fornicator, nor unclean person, nor lewd libertine, who is an idolater, hath any inheritance in the kingdom of the Christ and God. ⁶ Let no one deceive you with vain discourses; for on the account of these things the wrath of God is coining on these children of disobedience, ⁷ be not ye8 therefore partakers with them.

² For the men will be selfish, avaricious, vain, haughty, addicted to slander, disobedient to parents, ungrateful, unholy, ³ void of natural affection, perfidious, false accusers, intemperate, fierce, destitute of love for goodness, ⁴ betrayers, headstrong, puffed up with conceit, lovers of pleasure rather than lovers of God, ⁵ having a form of religion but denying the power of it. From such turn away;

¹³ There is indeed no creature concealed from his sight. All things are naked and exposed to the eyes of him with whom we have to do.

⁹ and being consecrated became the author of everlasting salvation to all who obey him,]

²⁷ Pure and undefiled religion in the sight of our God and father is this, to take the oversight and care of orphans and widows in their distress, and to keep one's self unspotted from the world.

¹ Whence come wars and fightings among you? Is it not from this"from those sensual appetites of yours which are at war in your members? ² You covet and use not. You kill, and envy, and cannot enjoy. You fight, and wage war, and do not possess, because you do not ask. ³ You ask and do not receive, because you ask amiss, that you may lavish on your sensual appetites. ⁴ Ye adulterers and adulteresses! do you not know that the friendship of this world is enmity against God? Whoever therefore wisheth to be a friend of the world is adjudged an enemy of God.

⁸ Draw near to God and he will draw near to you. Cleanse your hands, ye sinners; and purify your hearts, ye double minded.

¹⁶ If any one see his brother committing a sin not unto death, let him ask, and he will give him life for them who do not sin unto death: there is a sin unto death, with respect to this I do not say that he should make petition.

⁷ Whosoever hath an ear to hear let him hear what the spirit saith to the congregations. To him who overcometh I will give to eat of the tree of life which is in the midst of the paradise of God."

¹ And I heard a loud voice out of the temple saying to the seven angels, Go and pour out the vials of the wrath of God on the earth. ² And the first angel went and poured out his vial on the earth; and there came a malignant and grievous ulcer upon the men, who had the mark of the beast, and on them who worshipped its image. ³ And the second angel poured out his vial on the sea, and it became as the blood of one dead; and every living creature in the sea died. ⁴ And the third angel poured out his vial on the rivers, and on the fountains of waters; and they became blood. ⁵ And I heard the angel of the waters saying, Righteous art thou, O Lord, who art and who wast and who art to come, because thou hast passed these judgments. ⁶ Because they poured out the blood of thy saints and prophets, therefore thou hast given them blood to drink, for they deserve it. ⁷ And I heard another from the altar, saying, Yes, Lord, God, Almighty, thy judgments are true and righteous. ⁸ And the fourth angel poured out his vial on the sun; and power was given to it to scorch men with fire. ⁹ And the men were scorched with great heat; and they blasphemed the name of God who hath power over these plagues and did not reform to give glory to him. ¹⁰ And the fifth angel poured out his vial on the throne of the beast, and its kingdom was darkened; and they gnawed their tongues for pain, ¹¹ and blasphemed the God of heaven because of their pain, and because of their ulcers, and did not reform from their works. ¹² And the sixth angel poured out his vial on the river the great river Euphrates, and the water thereof was dried up that a way might be prepared for the kings from the rising of the sun. ¹³ And I saw three unclean spirits like frogs, coming out of the mouth of the dragon and out of the mouth of the beast, and out of the mouth of the false prophet. ¹⁴ For these are spirits of demons making signs which go forth to the kings of the earth and the whole world, to gather them together to the battle of the great day of God the Almighty. ¹⁵ [Behold my coming is as a thief [cometh]: Happy he who watcheth and keepeth his garments that he may not walk naked and expose his shame.] ¹⁶ And when he had gathered them together to the place which is called in Hebrew Armageddon ¹⁷ then the seventh angel poured out his vial in the air: and there came a loud voice out of the temple in heaven from the throne saying, It is done. ¹⁸ And there were noises and thunders and lightnings and there was a great earthquake, such, that there had not been since men were on the earth such an extensive, so great a shock. ¹⁹ And the great city was divided into three parts; and the cities of the nations fell; and Babylon the great came into remembrance before God "to give her the cup of the venemous wine of his indignation; ²⁰ and every island fled; and mountains were not found; ²¹ and great hail like talent weights pour down from heaven on the men; and the men blasphemed God, because of the plague of the hail; for the plague of the hail was very great.

²³ nor shall the light of a lamp ever shine in thee any more, nor the voice of a bridegroom and bride ever be heard in thee; for thy merchants were the nobles of the earth; for by thy bewitching arts all the nations were led astray.

¹⁷ And I saw an angel standing in the sun and he cried with a loud voice to all the birds which fly in mid-heaven saying, Come and gather yourselves together to the supper of the great God; ¹⁸ that you may eat the flesh of kings and the flesh of generals, and the flesh of mighty men, and the flesh of horses and of them mounted on them and the flesh of all both freemen and slaves, both small and great.

⁸ but the cowards and the unbelieving and abominable and murderers and prostitutes, and sorcerers and idolaters and all liars shall have their portion in the lake which burneth with fire and brimstone. This is the second death.

¹⁵ but without are the dogs and the sorcerers and the prostitutes and the murderers and the idolaters and every one who loveth and practiseth falsehood.
