²⁴ And king David said to Ornan, Nay; but I will verily buy it for the full price: for I will not take that which is your for the LORD, nor offer burnt offerings without cost.

⁴ Also cedar trees in abundance: for the Zidonians and they of Tyre brought much cedar wood to David. ⁵ And David said, Solomon my son is young and tender, and the house that is to be built for the LORD must be exceedingly magnificent, of fame and of glory throughout all countries: I will therefore now make preparation for it. So David prepared abundantly before his death.

¹⁴ Now, behold, in my trouble I have prepared for the house of the LORD an hundred thousand talents of gold, and a thousand thousand talents of silver; and of brass and iron without weight; for it is in abundance: timber also and stone have I prepared; and you may add thereto. ¹⁵ Moreover there are workmen with you in abundance, hewers and workers of stone and timber, and all manner of cunning men for every manner of work. ¹⁶ Of the gold, the silver, and the brass, and the iron, there is no number. Arise therefore, and be doing, and the LORD be with you.

⁸ LORD, I have loved the habitation of your house, and the place where your honour dwells.

⁴ One thing have I desired of the LORD, that will I seek after; that I may dwell in the house of the LORD all the days of my life, to behold the beauty of the LORD, and to enquire in his temple.

¹ How lovely are your tabernacles, O LORD of hosts!

¹⁰ For a day in your courts is better than a thousand. I had rather be a doorkeeper in the house of my God, than to dwell in the tents of wickedness.

¹ I was glad when they said unto me, Let us go into the house of the LORD. ² Our feet shall stand within your gates, O Jerusalem. ³ Jerusalem is built as a city that is compact together: ⁴ Where the tribes go up, the tribes of the LORD, unto the testimony of Israel, to give thanks unto the name of the LORD. ⁵ For there are set thrones of judgment, the thrones of the house of David. ⁶ Pray for the peace of Jerusalem: they shall prosper that love you. ⁷ Peace be within your walls, and prosperity within your palaces. ⁸ For my brethren and companions' sakes, I will now say, Peace be within you. ⁹ Because of the house of the LORD our God I will seek your good.

⁹ Honour the LORD with your substance, and with the first-fruits of all of your increase: ¹⁰ So shall your barns be filled with plenty, and your presses shall burst out with new wine.
