¹¹ Then David gave his son Solomon the plans for the entrance hall and the Temple, the storerooms, upper rooms, inner rooms, and the room for the throne of mercy.

¹⁷ And you are to make a cover of the best gold, two and a half cubits long and a cubit and a half wide. ¹⁸ And make two cherubims of thick gold on the two ends of the mercy seat; ¹⁹ "Make one cherub at one end and one cherub at the other end. You shall make the cherubim of one piece with the chest at its two ends. ²⁰ "The cherubim shall have their wings spread upward, covering the chest with their wings and facing one another. The faces of the cherubim are to be turned toward the chest. ²¹ And put the cover over the ark, and in the ark the record which I will give you. ²² "I will be above the throne of mercy between the angels whenever I meet with you. I will give you all my commandments for the Israelites.

⁴⁰ See that thou make them according to the pattern shewn thee on this mount.

³⁰ And you shall set up the tabernacle according to the pattern shown to you on the mount.

⁴² The Israelites had done all the work according to all that the LORD had commanded Moses. ⁴³ Moses inspected all the work. He saw that they had followed the LORD's instructions. So Moses blessed them.

²⁰ He took and put the covenant into the ark, and set the poles on the ark, and put the mercy seat above on the ark. ²¹ and he brought the ark into the tabernacle and set up the veil of the curtain and covered the ark of the testimony, as the LORD commanded Moses.

³ The vestibule on the face of the main hall of the temple was twenty cubits in its length, and the width of the temple was ten cubits wide on the face of the temple.

⁵ And against the wall of the house he set chambers round about the temple and the ark. ⁶ The lowest floor was five cubits wide, and the middle was six cubits wide, and the third was seven cubits wide; for on the outside he made offsets in the wall of the house all around, that the beams should not be inserted into the walls of the house.

¹⁰ He built the storeys against the whole house, each five cubits high: and they were attached to the house by cedar beams.

¹⁶ He built twenty cubits on the back part of the house with boards of cedar from the floor to the beams, and he built this within as an inner sanctuary, the most holy place. ¹⁷ And the house, that is, the temple in front of [the oracle], was forty cubits [long]. ¹⁸ And the inside of the house was cedar, carved with buds and open flowers: all was cedar; there was no stone seen. ¹⁹ He prepared an inner sanctuary in the midst of the house within, to set there the ark of the covenant of the LORD. ²⁰ In front, the inner sanctuary was twenty cubits long and twenty cubits wide and twenty cubits high, and he overlaid it with pure gold and covered the altar with cedar.

²⁶ But the four principal gatekeepers, who were Levites, were entrusted with the responsibility for the rooms and treasuries in the house of God. ²⁷ They would spend the night stationed around the house of God, because they had to guard it; and they had charge of the key for opening it each morning. ²⁸ Some of them were in charge of the articles used in the temple service; they counted them when they were brought in and when they were taken out. ²⁹ Others were assigned to take care of the furnishings and all the other articles of the sanctuary, as well as the flour and wine, and the oil, incense and spices.

²⁰ Their fellow Levites were in charge of the treasuries of the house of God and the treasuries for the dedicated things. ²¹ The descendants of Ladan, who were Gershonites through Ladan and who were heads of families belonging to Ladan the Gershonite, were Jehieli, ²² the sons of Jehieli, Zetham and his brother Joel. They were in charge of the treasuries of the temple of the LORD. ²³ From the Amramites, the Izharites, the Hebronites and the Uzzielites: ²⁴ Shubael, a descendant of Gershom son of Moses, was the officer in charge of the treasuries. ²⁵ His relatives through Eliezer: Rehabiah his son, Jeshaiah his son, Joram his son, Zicri his son and Shelomith his son. ²⁶ Shelomith and his relatives were in charge of all the treasuries for the things dedicated by King David, by the heads of families who were the commanders of thousands and commanders of hundreds, and by the other army commanders. ²⁷ Some of the plunder taken in battle they dedicated for the repair of the Temple of the LORD.

¹⁹ the whole in writing, From the hand of the LORD upon me, to give understanding,—all the works of the pattern.

³ And this is the foundation of Solomon in building the house of God. The length was three score cubits after the old cubit, and the breadth twenty. ⁴ And the covered way in front of the house was twenty cubits long, as wide as the house, and a hundred and twenty cubits high, all plated inside with the best gold. ⁵ And he lined the great house with cedar wood, and gilded it with pure gold, and carved upon it palm trees and chains. ⁶ And he adorned the house with precious stones for beauty: and the gold was gold of Parvaim. ⁷ And he overlaid the house, both beams, posts, walls and doors, with gold; and graved Cherubs upon the walls. ⁸ Then he made the most holy place. Its length was equal to the width of the house: twenty cubits. And its breadth was twenty cubits. And he overlaid it with six hundred talents of fine gold. ⁹ The gold nails weighed 50 shekels. He also overlaid the upper rooms with gold. ¹⁰ In the most holy place he made two sculptured cherubim (angels) and covered them with gold.

⁷ The priests brought in the ark of the LORD's covenant to its place, into the inner sanctuary of the house, to the most holy place, even under the wings of the cherubim.

³⁸ And the priest, the son of Aaron, is to be with the Levites, when the Levites take the tenths: and the Levites are to take a tenth of the tenths into the house of our God, to the rooms, into the store-house; ³⁹ For the sons of Israel and the sons of Levi shall bring the offering of the grain, of the new wine, and the oil, to the rooms where the vessels of the sanctuary are, and the priests who minister, and the gatekeepers and the singers. And we will not forsake the house of our God.

⁵ prepared for Tobiah a large chamber where they had formerly put the grain offering, the frankincense, the temple objects, tithes of grain, wine, and oil commanded for the Levites, the singers, the gatekeepers, and the offerings of the priests.

² Go to the family of Archabin and thou shalt bring them to the house of the Lord, into one of the courts, and give them wine to drink.

⁸ He also measured the entrance hall of the gateway. ⁹ Eight cubits; and its uprights, two cubits; the covered way of the doorway was inside.

¹⁵ And upon the face of the gate of the entrance to the face of the porch of the gate, fifty cubits.

⁴⁸ Then he brought me to the porch of the house, and measured each post of the porch, five cubits on this side, and five cubits on that side. The width of the gate was three cubits on this side and three cubits on that side. ⁴⁹ The covered way was twenty cubits long and twelve cubits wide, and they went up to it by ten steps; and there were pillars by the uprights, one on one side and one on the other.

⁶ The side rooms were in three stories, one over another, and thirty in order. They entered into the wall which belonged to the house for the side rooms all around, that they might be supported, and not penetrate the wall of the house. ⁷ The side rooms were wider on the higher levels, because the walls were narrower at the higher levels. Therefore the width of the house increased upward; and so one went up from the lowest level to the highest through the middle level. ⁸ I saw also that the house had a raised base all around: the foundations of the side rooms were a full reed of six great cubits. ⁹ The outer wall of the side rooms was nine feet thick. There was an open area between the side rooms connected to the Temple ¹⁰ And between the rooms was a space twenty cubits wide all round the house. ¹¹ And the free space had doors opening from the side-rooms, one door on the north and one door on the south: and the free space was five cubits wide all round.

¹³ So he measured the house, a hundred cubits long; and the separate courtyard, and the building, with its walls, a hundred cubits long; ¹⁴ And the breadth in front of the house including the vacancies on the sides was a hundred cubits. ¹⁵ And he measured the length of the building facing the courtyard at the rear and its galleries, a hundred cubits on each side, and also the temple, the court, and the porticos of the courtyard, ¹⁶ the thresholds, and the latticed windows, and the galleries all around, their three stories opposite the threshold, were paneled with wood all around, and from the ground up to the windows, and the windows were covered ¹⁷ to the space above the door, even to the inner house, and outside, and by all the wall all around inside and outside, by measure.

¹⁰ "Son of man, describe this Temple to the people of Israel. Then they will be ashamed because of their sins. Let them study the plans. ¹¹ "Suppose they are ashamed of everything that they have done. Then show them the design of the Temple, its arrangements, its exits and entrances-its entire design. Tell them about all its rules and regulations. Then write these things down for them so that they can remember its design and follow all its rules.

¹ He looked up and saw the rich putting their gifts into the treasury,

⁵ They serve in a sanctuary that is a copy, a shadow of the heavenly one. This is why Moses was warned when he was about to build the tabernacle: "See to it that you make everything according to the pattern that was shown you on the mountain."

² A tabernacle was constructed. In its first room were the lampstand, the table, and the consecrated bread. This was called the Holy Place. ³ Behind the second curtain was a room called the Most Holy Place, ⁴ containing the golden altar of incense and the gold-covered ark of the covenant. Inside the ark were the gold jar of manna, Aaron’s staff that had budded, and the stone tablets of the covenant. ⁵ Above the ark were the cherubim of glory, overshadowing the mercy seat. But we cannot discuss these things in detail now. ⁶ When everything had been prepared in this way, the priests entered regularly into the outer room to perform their sacred duties. ⁷ But only the high priest entered the inner room, and then only once a year, and never without blood, which he offered for himself and for the sins the people had committed in ignorance. ⁸ The Holy Spirit was showing by this that the way into the holy place had not yet been disclosed as long as the outer tabernacle was still standing.
