⁴ Love is patient, love is kind. It does not envy, it does not boast, it is not proud.

¹⁷ They refused to listen and did not remember your wonders that you did among them. They stiffened their neck and in their rebellion determined to return to their slavery. But you are a God of forgiveness, gracious and compassionate, slow to anger, abundant in loyal love, so you did not abandon them.

⁵ Their ways always seem prosperous. Your judgments are on high, far away from them. They scoff at all their enemies.

¹² Hatred stirs up strife, but love covers all wrongs.

¹⁰ Pride only breeds quarrels, but wisdom is with people who take advice.

⁹ He who covers an offense promotes love; but he who repeats a matter separates best friends.

¹⁴ Starting a quarrel is like spilling water so drop the dispute before it escalates.

²² Kindness is desired in a man. A poor man is better than a liar.

⁸ Do not run quickly to court, for what will you do in the end, when your neighbor puts you to shame. ⁹ Instead, take up the matter with your neighbor, and don't betray another person's confidence. ¹⁰ lest he who hears shame you and your ill repute will not end.

²⁰ She opens her arms to the poor; yes, she extends her hands to the needy.

⁸ The end of a thing is better than its start, and a gentle spirit is better than pride. ⁹ Do not be quick in your spirit to anger, for anger lodges in the bosom of fools.

⁴ If the anger of the ruler rises against you, do not leave your post, for calmness can undo great offenses.

² And you are proud! Shouldn’t you rather have been stricken with grief and removed from your fellowship the man who did this?

¹ Now about food sacrificed to idols: We know that we all have knowledge. Knowledge puffs up, but love builds up.

⁶ in purity, knowledge, patience, and kindness; in the Holy Spirit and in sincere love;

²⁰ For I am afraid that when I come I may not find you what I wish you to be, and you may not find me what you wish me to be; I fear that there may be quarreling, jealousy, outbursts of anger, factions, slander, gossip, arrogance and disorder.

²¹ and envy; drunkenness, carousing, and the like. I warn you, as I did before, that those who practice such things will not inherit the kingdom of God. ²² But the fruit of the Spirit is love, joy, peace, patience, kindness, goodness, faithfulness,

²⁶ Let us not become conceited, provoking and envying one another.

² with all humility and gentleness, with patience, bearing with one another in love,

³² Be kind and tender-hearted to one another, forgiving each other just as in Christ God forgave you.

¹⁵ It is true that some preach Christ out of envy and rivalry, but others out of goodwill.

¹ Therefore if you have any encouragement in Christ, if any comfort from His love, if any fellowship with the Spirit, if any affection and compassion, ² make my joy full by being like-minded, having the same love, being one in spirit and purpose. ³ Do nothing from selfishness or empty conceit, but in humility consider others better than yourselves. ⁴ Each of you should look not only to your own interests, but also to the interests of others. ⁵ Yea, let this mind be in you which was in Christ Jesus,

¹¹ being strengthened with all power according to His glorious might so that you may have full endurance and patience, and joyfully

¹⁸ Do not let anyone who delights in false humility and the worship of angels disqualify you with speculation about what he has seen. Such a man is puffed up without basis by his unspiritual mind,

¹² Therefore, as God's chosen ones, holy and loved, clothe yourselves with compassion, kindness, humility, meekness, and patience.

¹⁴ And we urge you, brethren, admonish the idlers, encourage the fainthearted, help the weak, be patient with everyone.

⁴ he is conceited and understands nothing. Instead, he has an unhealthy interest in controversies and semantics, out of which come envy, strife, abusive talk, evil suspicions,

²⁵ He must gently reprove those who oppose him, in the hope that God may grant them repentance leading to a knowledge of the truth.

¹⁰ You, however, know all about my teaching, my conduct, my purpose, faith, patience, love, endurance,

² preach the word; be ready in season and out of season; correct, rebuke, and exhort, with great patience and instruction.

³ For at one time we too were foolish, disobedient, misled, enslaved to all sorts of desires and pleasures, living in malice and envy, hateful, and hating one another.

¹⁴ But if you have bitter jealousy and selfish ambition in your hearts, do not boast in it or deny the truth. ¹⁵ Such wisdom does not come from above, but is earthly, unspiritual, demonic. ¹⁶ For where there is jealousy and selfish ambition, there is disorder and every evil practice. ¹⁷ But the wisdom from above is first of all pure, then peaceable, gentle, accommodating, full of mercy and good fruit, impartial, and sincere.

⁵ Or do you think the Scripture says without reason that the Spirit He caused to dwell in us yearns with envy?

¹ Therefore, ridding yourselves of all malice and all deceit and hypocrisy and envy and all slander,

⁸ Finally, all of you, live in harmony with one another; be sympathetic, love as brothers, be compassionate and humble in spirit.

⁸ Above all, love one another deeply, because love covers over a multitude of sins.

⁷ and to godliness, brotherly kindness; and to brotherly kindness, love.

¹⁶ By this we know what love is: Jesus laid down His life for us, and we ought to lay down our lives for our brothers. ¹⁷ If anyone with earthly possessions sees his brother in need, but withholds his compassion from him, how can the love of God abide in him? ¹⁸ Little children, let us not love in word or tongue but in deed and in truth.

¹¹ Dear friends, if God has so loved us, we also ought to love one another.
