⁵ And against the wall of the house he set chambers round about the temple and the ark.

² And the LORD said to Moses, "Tell your brother Aaron that he should not enter at any time into the sanctuary behind the curtain in front of the atonement cover that is on the ark, so that he might not die, because I appear in the cloud over the atonement cover.

⁸⁹ When Moses went into the Tent of Meeting to speak with the LORD, he heard his voice speaking to him from above the mercy seat that was on the ark of the Testimony, from between the two cherubim: and he spoke to him.

¹⁶ He built twenty cubits on the back part of the house with boards of cedar from the floor to the beams, and he built this within as an inner sanctuary, the most holy place.

¹⁹ He prepared an inner sanctuary in the midst of the house within, to set there the ark of the covenant of the LORD. ²⁰ In front, the inner sanctuary was twenty cubits long and twenty cubits wide and twenty cubits high, and he overlaid it with pure gold and covered the altar with cedar. ²¹ Solomon overlaid the inside of the temple with pure gold, fastened gold chains across the front of the inner sanctuary, and overlaid it with gold.

³¹ For the entrance of the inner sanctuary, he made doors of olive wood. The lintel and door posts were a fifth part of the wall.

²⁶ But the four principal gatekeepers, who were Levites, were entrusted with the responsibility for the rooms and treasuries in the house of God.

²⁸ The duty of the Levites was to help Aaron's descendants in the service of the Temple of the LORD: to be in charge of the courtyards, the side rooms, the purification of all sacred things and the performance of other duties at the House of God.

¹¹ Then David gave his son Solomon the plans for the entrance hall and the Temple, the storerooms, upper rooms, inner rooms, and the room for the throne of mercy.

²⁰ the lamp stands and their lamps made of pure gold to burn in front of the inner sanctuary, as required,

⁷ The priests brought in the ark of the LORD's covenant to its place, into the inner sanctuary of the house, to the most holy place, even under the wings of the cherubim.

⁹ The poles were so long that the ends of the poles were seen from the ark in front of the inner sanctuary; but they were not seen outside; and it is there to this day.

¹¹ Hezekiah gave an order to prepare storerooms in the LORD's temple, and so they did.

³⁷ We also determined to present the first fruits of our ground grain, our offerings, the fruit of all kinds of trees, wines, and oil to the priests, to the chambers of the temple of our God, and the tithes of our land to the Levites, so those Levites could collect the tithes in all the towns where we worked.

⁴⁴ And at that time men were appointed over the chambers of the treasures for the heave-offerings, for the first-fruits, and for the tithes, to gather into them, out of the fields of the cities, the portions assigned by the law for the priests and the Levites; for Judah rejoiced over the priests, and over the Levites that waited.

⁵ prepared for Tobiah a large chamber where they had formerly put the grain offering, the frankincense, the temple objects, tithes of grain, wine, and oil commanded for the Levites, the singers, the gatekeepers, and the offerings of the priests. ⁶ But in all this, I was not at Jerusalem; for in the thirty-second year of Artaxerxes king of Babylon I went to the king; and after some days I asked leave of the king, ⁷ And I came to Jerusalem, and understood the evil which Eliashib did for Tobiah in preparing him a room in the courts of the house of God. ⁸ It grieved me severely. Therefore I threw all Tobiah's household stuff out of the room. ⁹ Then I gave orders, and they made the rooms clean: and I put back in them the vessels of the house of God, with the meal offerings and the perfume.

² Hear the voice of my petitions, when I cry to you, when I lift up my hands toward your Most Holy Place.

⁴ Take me away with you. Let us hurry. The king has brought me into his chambers. We will be glad and rejoice in you. We will praise your love more than wine. They are right to love you.

⁴ And I brought them into the house of the LORD, into the room of the sons of Hananiah son of Gedaliah, the man of God, which was by the room of the officials, which was above the room of Maaseiah the son of Shallum, the keeper of the threshold.

⁴⁴ And he took me into the inner square, and there were two rooms in the inner square, one at the side of the north doorway, facing south; and one at the side of the south doorway, facing north.

⁵ Then he took the measure of the wall of the house, which was six cubits; and of the side-rooms round the house, which were four cubits wide. ⁶ The side rooms were in three stories, one over another, and thirty in order. They entered into the wall which belonged to the house for the side rooms all around, that they might be supported, and not penetrate the wall of the house. ⁷ The side rooms were wider on the higher levels, because the walls were narrower at the higher levels. Therefore the width of the house increased upward; and so one went up from the lowest level to the highest through the middle level. ⁸ I saw also that the house had a raised base all around: the foundations of the side rooms were a full reed of six great cubits. ⁹ The outer wall of the side rooms was nine feet thick. There was an open area between the side rooms connected to the Temple ¹⁰ And between the rooms was a space twenty cubits wide all round the house. ¹¹ And the free space had doors opening from the side-rooms, one door on the north and one door on the south: and the free space was five cubits wide all round.

³ Opposite the twenty cubits of the inner courtyard, and opposite the pavement that was to the outer courtyard was a gallery facing a gallery in the three stories. ⁴ And in front of the rooms was a walk, ten cubits wide and a hundred cubits long; and their doors were facing north. ⁵ Now the upper chambers were narrower: for the galleries took more space away from these, than from the lower, and the middle chambers of the building. ⁶ For they are in tiers, but not pillars as the pillars of the courts: so it sets back from the earth more than the nethermost and the middlemost. ⁷ The wall that was outside by the side of the rooms, toward the outer court before the rooms, its length was fifty cubits. ⁸ For the length of the rooms that were in the outer court was fifty cubits. And, behold, in the face of the temple was a hundred cubits. ⁹ And under these rooms was the entrance on the east side as one goes into them from the outer court. ¹⁰ There were chambers in the thickness of the wall of the court toward the east, opposite the separate courtyard, and opposite the building. ¹¹ And there was a walk in front of them like that by the rooms on the north; they were equally long and wide; and the ways out of them were the same in design and had the same sort of doors. ¹² And as the doors of the rooms that were southward, there was a door in the head of the way, the way directly in the face of the wall, the way of the east, as one enters them.
