²² And now behold, the LORD has put a lying spirit in the mouth of these your prophets, and the LORD has spoken evil against you.

²¹ the LORD said to Moses: "When you go back to Egypt see that you perform before Pharaoh all the wonders that I have put in your power. I will harden his heart so that he will not let the people go."

⁷ The king of Israel said to Jehoshaphat, There is yet one man by whom we may inquire of the LORD; but I hate him, for he never prophesies good concerning me, but always evil. He is Micaiah the son of Imla. Jehoshaphat said, Don't let the king say so.

¹⁷ Then the king of Israel told Jehoshaphat, "Didn't I tell you that he wouldn't prophesy anything good about me, but only evil?"

¹⁸ King Jehoash of Israel sent this message to King Amaziah of Judah: "A thistle in Lebanon sent a message to a cedar in Lebanon. It said: 'Let your daughter marry my son, but a wild animal from Lebanon came along and trampled the thistle.

¹⁶ "To him belong strength and victory. Both deceived and deceivers are his.

¹¹ Woe to the wicked. Disaster is upon them; for the work of his hands will be done to him.

¹⁴ the LORD has poured into them a spirit of dizziness. They make Egypt stagger in all that she does, as a drunkard staggers around in his vomit.

¹¹ "Now say to the people of Judah and to those who live in Jerusalem, This is what the LORD says: 'I am going to prepare a disaster and make a plot against you. Turn from your evil ways, change your lives, and do good.'

³ Son of man, these men have set up their idols in their hearts, and put the stumbling-block of their iniquity before their face. Should I at all be inquired of by them? ⁴ Therefore speak to them, and say to them, So says the Sovereign LORD: Every man of the house of Israel who sets up his idols in his heart, and puts the stumbling-block of his iniquity before his face, and comes to the prophet; I the LORD will answer him in it by the host of his idols; ⁵ "'I will do this to recapture the hearts of the nation of Israel. They have deserted me because of their disgusting idols.'"

⁹ And if the prophet be enticed and shall speak a word, I the LORD have enticed that prophet; and I will stretch out my hand against him, and will destroy him from the midst of my people Israel.

³ Therefore, thus says the LORD: Look! I am planning disaster against this family from which you will not be able to remove your necks. You will not walk proudly, for it is a time of disaster.

²⁴ For false Christs and false prophets will appear and perform great signs and wonders that would deceive even the elect, if that were possible. ²⁵ Behold, I have told you ahead of time!

²⁴ The Son of Man will go just as it is written about Him, but woe to that man by whom He is betrayed. It would be better for him if he had not been born.” ²⁵ Then Judas, who would betray Him, said, “Surely not I, Rabbi?” Jesus answered, “You have said it yourself.”

²⁰ "It is one of the Twelve," He replied; "he who is dipping his fingers in the dish with me. ²¹ The Son of Man will go just as it is written about Him, but woe to that man by whom He is betrayed! It would be better for him if he had not been born.”

¹¹ Why? Because I do not love you? God knows I do! ¹² But I will keep on doing what I am doing, in order to undercut those who want an opportunity to be regarded as our equals in the things they boast about. ¹³ For such men are false apostles, deceitful workers, masquerading as apostles of Christ.

⁹ The coming of the lawless one will be accompanied by the power of Satan. He will use every kind of power, including miraculous signs, lying wonders, ¹⁰ and with all the deception of wickedness for those who are to perish, because they refused to love the truth and so be saved. ¹¹ For this reason, God will send them a powerful delusion so that they will believe the lie,

¹ Now the Spirit expressly states that in later times some will abandon the faith to follow deceitful spirits and the teachings of demons, ² through the pretensions of liars, whose consciences have been seared as with a hot iron,
