Numbers 18:4-7

4 They shall be joined to you and keep the responsibility of the Tent of Meeting, for all the service of the Tent. A stranger shall not come near to you. 5 You are to be responsible for the holy place and the altar, so that wrath may never again come on the children of Israel. 6 Behold, I myself have taken your brothers the Levites from among the children of Israel. They are a gift to you, dedicated to the LORD, to do the service of the Tent of Meeting. 7 You and your sons with you shall keep your priesthood for everything of the altar, and for that within the veil; and you shall serve. I give you the priesthood as a gift, and the stranger who comes near shall be put to death.

2 Chronicles 26:16-19

16 But when he became strong his heart was lifted up to [his] downfall; and he transgressed against the LORD his God, and went into the temple of the LORD to burn incense upon the altar of incense. 17 But Azariah the priest went in after him with four score priests of the LORD that were bold men. 18 And they stood against King Uzziah and said to him, "It is not for you, Uzziah, to burn incense to the LORD, but it is for the priests, the descendants of Aaron, who are consecrated to burn incense. Go out of the sanctuary, for you have acted unfaithfully. There will be no honor for you from the LORD God." 19 Then Uzziah was angry. He had a censer in his hand to burn incense, and while he was angry with the priests, the leprosy broke out on his forehead before the priests in the LORD's house, beside the altar of incense.

2 Chronicles 28:23

23 He sacrificed to the gods of Damascus that had defeated him, reasoning, "The gods of the kings of Aram helped them, so I'll sacrifice to them so they will help me!" But those gods brought about his downfall, and the downfall of all of Israel, too.

2 Chronicles 28:25

25 In every city of Judah he made high places to burn incense to other gods, and provoked the LORD, the God of his fathers, to anger.
