⁸ "They lie down beside every altar on clothes taken from indebtedness. In the house of their God they drink the wine they have confiscated.

²⁶ If you take your neighbor's coat as collateral, you shall return it to him by sunset, ²⁷ because it is his only garment; it is his cloak for his skin. In what will he sleep? And when he cries out to me, I will hear, because I am gracious.

¹² If he is a poor man, don't go to sleep with his collateral in your possession. ¹³ Be sure to return his garment to him at sunset so that he may sleep with it, and he will bless you. It will be a righteous deed before the LORD your God. ¹⁴ "Don't take advantage of a hired person who is poor and needy, whether he's your fellow citizen or a foreigner who lives in your city. ¹⁵ Pay his wages that same day before the sun sets, because he is poor and his livelihood depends on it. Otherwise, he may cry out to the LORD against you, and you will incur guilt." ¹⁶ The fathers shall not be put to death for the children, nor the children for the fathers, but every one shall die for his own sin, ¹⁷ You must not deprive the foreigner or the fatherless of justice, nor take a widow's clothing in pledge,

⁷ You have put your bed on a high mountain: there you went up to make your offering.

⁷ '"if a man does not oppress anyone, but restores to the debtor his pledge, does not commit robbery, but gives his bread to the hungry and covers the naked with clothing.

¹² '"He oppresses the poor and needy. He robs. He does not return the security for a loan. He looks to idols for help. He does disgusting things.

⁴¹ "You sat on a splendid couch with a table arranged before it on which you had set my incense and my oil.

⁸ They eat up the sins of my people, and courage them in their wickedness.

¹ Hear this word, you cows of Bashan, who are in the mountain of Samaria, who oppress the poor, who crush the needy, who say to their lords, Bring and let us drink.

⁴ lying on ivory beds, stretching out on your couches, eating lambs from the flock, and fattened calves from the stall,

⁶ who drink bowls of wine, and they anoint with the best of oils; but they are not grieved for the breaking of Joseph!

¹⁰ For if someone with a weak conscience sees you who are well informed eating in an idol’s temple, will he not be encouraged to eat food sacrificed to idols?

⁷ Do not be idolaters, as some of them were. As it is written: “The people sat down to eat and to drink, and got up to revel in idolatry.”

²¹ You cannot drink the cup of the Lord, and the cup of demons: you cannot be partakers of the Lord's table, and of the table of demons.
