¹ ¶ King Nebuchadnezzar, to all the peoples, nations, and languages that dwell in all the earth; Peace be multiplied unto you. ² It gives me great pleasure to tell about the signs and wonders that the Most High God has done for me. ³ How great are his signs! How mighty are his wonders! His kingdom is an everlasting kingdom. His dominion is from generation to generation. ⁴ I, Nebuchadnezzar, was thriving in my house, and prospering. ⁵ I saw a dream which made me afraid; and the thoughts on my bed and the visions of my head troubled me. ⁶ »I made a decree to bring in all the wise men of Babylon that they might explain the dream to me. ⁷ Then the diviners, enchanters, Chaldeans, and astrologers came in, and I told them the dream. But they could not reveal its interpretation to me. ⁸ Eventually, Daniel appeared before me. (He is called Belteshazzar, in accordance with the name of my god, and the spirit of the holy gods is within him.) I told him my dream: ⁹ " 'O Belteshazzar, chief of the magicians, I myself know that the spirit of the holy gods is in you, and no mystery is too difficult for you. Now tell me the visions of my dream that I saw, and its explanation. ¹⁰ Thus were the visions of my head on my bed: I saw, and behold, a tree in the middle of the earth; and its height was great. ¹¹ The tree grew large, became strong, and its top reached the sky. It could be seen to the ends of the earth. ¹² its leaves were fair, and its fruit abundant, and in it was food for all; and under it the wild beasts of the field took shelter, and the birds of the sky lodged in the branches of it, and all flesh was fed by it. ¹³ In the visions of my head on my bed I saw a watcher, a holy one, coming down from heaven, ¹⁴ He cried aloud and so he said: "Cut down the tree and chop off its branches; shake off its foliage and scatter its fruit. Let the animals flee from under it, and the birds from its branches. ¹⁵ But leave the stump of its roots in the earth, even with a fetter of iron and bronze, in the grass of the field. And let it be wet with the dew of the heavens, and his portion be with the animals in the grass of the earth. ¹⁶ Let his mind be changed from that of a man, and let him be given the mind of an animal until seven seasons of time pass by for him. ¹⁷ This order is announced by the observers, and the holy ones declare the verdict, so that the living may know that the Most High is sovereign over human kingdoms and grants them to whomever he desires, and he places the least important of men over them.' ¹⁸ "This is the dream that I, King Nebuchadnezzar, saw. Belteshazzar, tell me its meaning, since none of the advisors in my kingdom can tell me its interpretation. But you are able to do so because the spirit of the holy gods is in you." ¹⁹ Then Daniel (also known as Belteshazzar) was greatly troubled for a while and was terrified by his thoughts. The king said, "Belteshazzar, don't let the dream or its meaning terrify you." Belteshazzar responded, "Your majesty, if only the dream were about your enemies and its meaning about those who oppose you! ²⁰ The tree that you saw, which grew large and strong until its top reached the sky and became visible to the whole earth ²¹ And its foliage beautiful, and its fruit great, and food for all in it; under it the beast of the open field will dwell, and in its branches the birds of the heavens will dwell: ²² it's you, your majesty! You've become great and strong, your greatness has grown to the heavens, and your dominion reaches to the distant parts of the earth. ²³ "Your majesty saw a holy observer descending from heaven and saying, 'Cut down the tree and destroy it, but leave the stump in the ground, along with its roots, bound with iron and bronze in the field grass. Let him be soaked with the dew of the sky and live with the wild animals of the field until seven seasons pass over him.' ²⁴ This is the interpretation, O king, and this is the decree of the most High, which is come upon my lord the king: ²⁵ You will be driven from men. Your dwelling will be with the beasts of the field. You will eat grass like oxen and will be wet with the dew of heaven. Seven times shall pass over you until you know that the Most High rules in the kingdom of men, and gives it to whomever he will. ²⁶ And in that they said to leave alone the stump of the tree's root, so your kingdom will be restored for you when you acknowledge that heaven is sovereign. ²⁷ Therefore, your majesty, may my advice be acceptable to you: Stop your sinning, do what's right, and put a stop to your wickedness by showing kindness to the oppressed. Perhaps your tranquility will continue." ²⁸ All this happened to king Nebuchadnezzar. ²⁹ About a year later, as the king was walking on the roof of the royal palace of Babylon, ³⁰ The king spoke: "Is this not great Babylon, which I have built for the royal dwelling-place, by the might of my power and for the glory of my majesty?" ³¹ The word was still in the king's voice when a voice fell from the heaven, saying, O king Nebuchadnezzar, to you it is declared: The kingdom has been taken from you! ³² You're to be driven away from people. You're to live with the wild animals of the field. You shall be made to eat grass like cattle, and seven years will pass you by until you realize that the Most High is sovereign over human kingdoms and grants them to whomever he desires.' ³³ The decree was fulfilled against Nebuchadnezzar immediately. He was driven away from people to eat grass like cattle, and his body was drenched with dew from the sky, until his hair grew like eagles' feathers and his nails like birds' claws." ³⁴ "At the end of the days I, Nebuchadnezzar, lifted up my eyes to heaven and my understanding returned to me. I blessed the Most High and I praised and honored the one who lives forever. His dominion is an everlasting dominion, and his kingdom from generation to generation. ³⁵ And all the people of the earth are as nothing: he does his pleasure in the army of heaven and among the people of the earth: and no one is able to keep back his hand, or say to him, What are you doing? ³⁶ At that moment I recovered my sanity, and my honor and majesty returned to me, for the sake of my kingdom. My advisors and officials sought me out, my throne was restored, and even more greatness than I had before was added to me. ³⁷ Now I Nebuchadnezzar praise and exalt and honor the King of heaven, all whose works are truth and His ways judgment. And those who walk in pride He is able to humble.

¹⁸ Then the Spirit came upon Amasai, chief of the thirty who said: "We are yours, O David! And we are with you, O son of Jesse! Peace! Peace to you, and peace to those who help you, for your God helps you." So David appointed them as heads of the troops.

¹⁷ The king sent a reply: "To Rehum the royal officer, Shimshai the scribe, and the rest of their associates who live in Samaria and the rest of the province Beyond the River, greetings. And now

¹² Then on the thirteenth day of the first month, the king's scribes were summoned. They put in writing Haman's orders to all the king's captains and the rulers of every division of his kingdom and the chiefs of every people. It was to be for every division of the kingdom in the writing commonly used there, and to every people in the language which was theirs. It was signed in the name of King Ahasuerus and stamped with the king's ring.

⁹ Then the king's scribes were called at that time, in the third month Sivan, on the twenty-third day of the month; and it was written according to all that Mordecai commanded to the Jews, and to the satraps, and the governors and officials of the provinces which are from India to Ethiopia, one hundred twenty-seven provinces, to every province according to its writing, and to every people in their language, and to the Jews in their writing, and in their language.

⁴ Then the herald proclaimed: »You are commanded to do this, O peoples, nations, and men of every language.

²⁹ "Therefore I decree that the people of any nation or language who say anything against the God of Shadrach, Meshach, and Abednego, shall be cut into pieces. Their houses shall be made a dunghill. There is no other god that is able to deliver like this."

²⁵ Afterward, King Darius wrote to all peoples, nations, and languages who lived throughout his realm: "May great prosperity be yours!

²⁷ He helps and delivers, and works signs and wonders in the heaven and on the earth, who has rescued Daniel from the power of the lions.

¹⁴ And there was given him dominion and glory and a kingdom, that all the peoples, nations and languages should serve him. His dominion is an everlasting dominion, which will not pass away and his kingdom is one that will not be destroyed.

²³ Thus says the LORD of hosts: 'In those days ten men from all the nations of every language will take hold of the hem of a Judean man, saying, "Let us go with you, for we have heard that God is with you!" '"

⁶ And when this sound rang out, a crowd came together in bewilderment, because each one heard them speaking his own language.

⁷ To all in Rome who are loved by God and called to be saints: Grace and peace to you from God our Father and the Lord Jesus Christ.

¹⁹ Joshua said to Achan: "My son, give glory to the LORD God of Israel and confess to him. Tell me now what you have done. Do not hide it from me."

¹⁴ Rescue me from blood guilt, O God, the God of my deliverance! My tongue shall exult over your righteousness.

¹⁶ Come and listen, all of you who fear God, and I will tell you what he did for me.

¹⁸ And even when I am old and gray, O God, do not forsake me, until I declare your strength to this generation, your power to all who are to come.

¹ A Psalm, A Song for the Sabbath Day. It is good to give thanks to the LORD, and to sing praises to Your name, O Most High; ² to proclaim your gracious love in the morning and your faithfulness at night,

²⁶ Then Nebuchadnezzar approached the opening of the blazing fire furnace. He shouted out, "Shadrach, Meshach, and Abednego, servants of the Most High God, come out and come here!" So Shadrach, Meshach, and Abednego came out of the fire.

³ "I am a Jew, born in Tarsus of Cilicia, but brought up in this city, educated under Gamaliel, strictly according to the law of our fathers, being zealous for God just as you all are today. ⁴ I persecuted this Way even to the death, detaining both men and women and throwing them into prison, ⁵ as the high priest and the whole Council can testify about me. I even obtained letters from them to their brothers in Damascus, and I was on my way to apprehend these people and bring them to Jerusalem to be punished. ⁶ About noon as I was approaching Damascus, suddenly a bright light from heaven flashed around me. ⁷ "I fell to the ground and heard a voice say to me: 'Saul, Saul! Why do you persecute me?' ⁸ ‘Who are You, Lord?’ I asked. ‘I am Jesus of Nazareth, whom you are persecuting,’ He replied. ⁹ My companions saw the light, but they could not understand the voice of the One speaking to me. ¹⁰ Then I asked, ‘What shall I do, Lord?’ ‘Get up and go into Damascus,’ He told me. ‘There you will be told all that you have been appointed to do.’ ¹¹ »I was blind because of the bright light. So my companions took me by the hand and led me to Damascus. ¹² There a man named Ananias, a devout observer of the Law, highly respected by all the Jews who lived there, ¹³ came to me. He stood beside me and said, 'Brother Saul, receive your sight!' At that moment I could see him. ¹⁴ Then he said: ‘The God of our fathers has chosen you to know His will, and to see the Righteous One, and to hear words from His mouth. ¹⁵ You will be His witness to all men of what you have seen and heard. ¹⁶ And now what are you waiting for? Get up, be baptized, and wash your sins away, calling on His name.’

⁹ So then, I too was convinced that I ought to do all I could to oppose the name of Jesus of Nazareth. ¹⁰ And that is what I did in Jerusalem. With authority from the chief priests I put many of the saints in prison, and when they were condemned to death, I cast my vote against them. ¹¹ I frequently had them punished in the synagogues and tried to make them blaspheme. In my raging fury against them, I even went to foreign cities to persecute them. ¹² "On one of these journeys I was going to Damascus with the authority and commission of the chief priests. ¹³ About noon, O king, as I was on the road, I saw a light from heaven, brighter than the sun, shining around me and my companions. ¹⁴ We all fell to the ground, and I heard a voice say to me in Aramaic, ‘Saul, Saul, why do you persecute Me? It is hard for you to kick against the goads.’ ¹⁵ "'Who art Thou, Lord?' I asked. "'I am Jesus whom you are persecuting,' the Lord replied. ¹⁶ ‘But get up and stand on your feet. For I have appeared to you to appoint you as a servant and as a witness of what you have seen from Me and what I will show you.

³⁴ Or has a god ever attempted to go to take for himself a nation from the midst of a nation, using trials and signs and wonders and war, with an outstretched arm and with great and awesome deeds, like all that the LORD your God did for you in Egypt before your eyes?

² "Rulership and awe belong to God. He establishes order in the heights of heaven.

⁷ He rules by his might forever. His eyes watch the nations. Don't let the rebellious rise up against him. Selah.

¹⁹ Your righteousness also, O God, is very high, you who have done great things. O God, who is like you? ²⁰ You who have caused me to see many troubles and evils, you will again revive me. And from the depths of the earth you will again bring me up.

¹⁸ Praise be to the LORD God, the God of Israel, who alone does marvelous deeds.

¹⁹ Your way was through the sea; your paths through the great waters. Your footsteps were not known.

¹⁰ For You are great, and do wondrous things, You alone are God.

⁵ How great are your deeds, O LORD; how very deep are your thoughts.

²⁴ How manifold are Thy works, O LORD! In wisdom hast Thou made them all; the earth is full of Thy creatures.

²⁷ They performed his signs among them, his wonders in the land of Ham.

¹³ Your kingdom is an everlasting kingdom. Your dominion endures throughout all generations. the LORD is faithful in all his words, and loving in all his deeds.

⁷ Of the increase of his government and peace there will be no end. He will reign on David's throne and over his kingdom. He will establish and uphold it with justice and righteousness from that time on and forever. The zeal of the LORD Almighty will accomplish this.

¹ O LORD, you are my God; I will exalt you, I will praise your name; for you have done wonderful things; your counsels of old are faithfulness and truth.

²⁹ This also comes from the LORD Almighty. He is wonderful in counsel and excellent in guidance.

¹⁰ But the LORD is the true God, he is the living God, and an everlasting king. Because of his wrath the earth quakes, and the nations cannot endure his anger.

⁴⁴ “In the days of those kings the God of heaven will set up a kingdom which will never be destroyed, nor will its sovereignty be left to another people; but it will break in pieces and consume all these kingdoms, and it will stand forever.

¹⁷ This order is announced by the observers, and the holy ones declare the verdict, so that the living may know that the Most High is sovereign over human kingdoms and grants them to whomever he desires, and he places the least important of men over them.'

³⁴ "At the end of the days I, Nebuchadnezzar, lifted up my eyes to heaven and my understanding returned to me. I blessed the Most High and I praised and honored the one who lives forever. His dominion is an everlasting dominion, and his kingdom from generation to generation. ³⁵ And all the people of the earth are as nothing: he does his pleasure in the army of heaven and among the people of the earth: and no one is able to keep back his hand, or say to him, What are you doing?

²⁶ "I hereby decree that in every area of my kingdom men are to fear and tremble before the God of Daniel. For he is the living God, who endures forever. His kingdom is one that will not be destroyed, and his dominion continues forever. ²⁷ He helps and delivers, and works signs and wonders in the heaven and on the earth, who has rescued Daniel from the power of the lions.

²⁷ And the kingdom and the dominion and the greatness of the kingdoms under the whole heaven, will be given to the people of the holy ones of the Most High. His kingdom is an everlasting kingdom and all dominions will serve and obey him.

³² He will be great and will be called the Son of the Most High. The Lord God will give him the throne of his father David, ³³ and He will reign over the house of Jacob forever. His kingdom will never end!”

³³ O the depth of the riches both of the wisdom and knowledge of God! how unsearchable his judgments, and his ways past finding out!

¹⁷ Now to the King eternal, immortal, invisible, the only God, be honor and glory for ever and ever. Amen.

⁸ But about the Son He says: “Your throne, O God, will last forever and ever, and righteousness will be the scepter of Your kingdom.

⁴ God also testified about it with signs, wonders, and various miracles, and gifts of the Holy Spirit given according to his will.

¹¹ If anyone speaks, he should speak as one conveying the words of God. If anyone serves, he should serve with the strength God supplies, so that in all things God may be glorified through Jesus Christ, to whom be the glory and the power forever and ever. Amen.

¹⁵ Then the seventh angel sounded his trumpet, and there were loud voices in heaven, saying, "The kingdom of the world has become the kingdom of our Lord and of his Christ, and he will reign for ever and ever."

⁶ When things went well for me I said, I will never be moved. ⁷ You, LORD, when you favored me, made my mountain stand strong; but when you hid your face, I was troubled.

⁷ "'You said: 'I will be a queen for a very long time!' You did not consider these things or remember their outcome. ⁸ Now, therefore hear this, Thou Lady of pleasure Who dwelleth securely, Who saith in her heart,—I, [am], and there is no one besides, I shall not sit a widow, Nor know loss of children.

¹² "Come, each one cries, let me get wine! Let us drink our fill of beer! And tomorrow will be like today, or even far better."

¹¹ Moab has been at ease from his youth. He has been undisturbed like wine on its dregs and not poured from vessel to vessel. He has not gone into exile. Therefore, his flavor has remained, and his aroma has not changed.

² "Son of man, tell the ruler of Tyre: 'This is what the Sovereign LORD says: "'"In your arrogance you say, 'I am a god (strong deity). I sit on God's throne in the sea.' But you are only human and not a god, although you think you are a god. (2 Thes 2:4) ³ Look, are you wiser than Daniel, so that no secret is hidden from you? ⁴ By your wisdom and by your understanding You have made for you wealth, And make gold and silver in your treasuries." ⁵ By thy great skill and thy traffic thou hast increased thy wealth; and with thy wealth thy heart is elated;

¹⁷ Your heart was proud because of your beauty; you ruined your wisdom because of your splendor. I threw you on the ground before kings; I have exposed you for viewing.

³ Speak and say, Thus said the Sovereign LORD: Behold me against thee Pharaoh, king of Egypt, the great sea-monster lying in the midst of his rivers, who said, The, river is to me, and I made me.

¹² And it shall be in that time I will search Jerusalem with lamps, and punish the men who are settled on their lees; who say in their heart, the LORD will not do good, nor will He do evil.

¹⁹ Then I will say to myself, “You have plenty of good things laid up for many years. Take it easy. Eat, drink, and be merry!”’ ²⁰ But God said to him, 'You fool! This very night your soul will be demanded of you. Then who will have all you have prepared?'

² for you yourselves know very well that the Day of the Lord will come like a thief in the night. ³ While people are saying, “Peace and security,” destruction will come upon them suddenly, like labor pains on a pregnant woman, and they will not escape.

¹ Two years later Pharaoh had a dream. He dreamed he was standing by the Nile River.

¹³ When I say, 'My bed will comfort me, and my couch will ease my complaint,' ¹⁴ Thou wilt frighten me with dreams, and terrify me with visions.

¹ In the second year of his reign Nebuchadnezzar dreamed a dream, and his spirit was amazed, and his sleep departed from him.

²⁸ But there is a God in Heaven who reveals secrets and makes known to King Nebuchadnezzar what shall be in the latter days. Your dream, and the visions of your head upon your bed are these. ²⁹ O king, thou didst cast in thy mind, what should come hereafter: So he that is the opener of mysteries, telleth thee what is for to come.

⁵ In the same hour the fingers of a man's hand appeared, and wrote above the lamp stand on the plaster of the wall of the king's palace. The king saw the part of the hand that wrote. ⁶ Then his face changed and his thoughts terrified him, and his hip joints gave way and his knees knocked together.

¹⁰ The queen by reason of the words of the king and his lords came into the banquet house. The queen spoke and said, “O king, live forever; don't let your thoughts trouble you, nor let your face be changed.

²⁸ Here is the end of the matter. As for me, Daniel, my thoughts troubled me greatly, and my face turned pale. I kept the matter to myself."

⁷ The thin heads of grain swallowed up the seven healthy and full ears. Pharaoh awoke, and behold, it was a dream. ⁸ In the morning, his spirit was troubled, and he sent and called for all of Egypt’s magicians and wise men. Pharaoh told them his dreams, but there was no one who could interpret them to Pharaoh.

¹⁹ Now if they tell you, "Consult the ghosts and the spirits, those who chirp and those who mutter. Should not a people consult its gods, the dead on behalf of the living,

¹² Stand now among your spells, and with your many sorceries, in which you have wearied yourself since your youth. Perhaps you will be able to profit; perhaps may cause quaking. ¹³ You are wearied in the multitude of your counsels. Let now the astrologers, the star-gazers, the knowers from the new moons, stand up and save you from the things that will come upon you. ¹⁴ "Surely they are like stubble. The fire will burn them up. They cannot even save themselves from the power of the flame. Here are no coals to warm anyone and no fire to sit by.

² So the king said to call the magicians and the conjurers and the sorcerers and the astrologers to tell to the king his dreams. And they came in and they stood before the king.

⁸ In the morning, his spirit was troubled, and he sent and called for all of Egypt’s magicians and wise men. Pharaoh told them his dreams, but there was no one who could interpret them to Pharaoh.

²⁵ who foils the omens of the empty talkers, and makes fools of diviners; who turns sages back, and makes their knowledge foolish;

⁹ "Do not listen to prophets, mediums, and interpreters of dreams, fortunetellers, or sorcerers who tell you, 'You will never serve the king of Babylon.' ¹⁰ "They prophesy lies to you. They will cause you to be taken far from your lands. I will scatter you, and you will die.

¹ In the second year of his reign Nebuchadnezzar dreamed a dream, and his spirit was amazed, and his sleep departed from him. ² So the king said to call the magicians and the conjurers and the sorcerers and the astrologers to tell to the king his dreams. And they came in and they stood before the king.

⁷ They replied again, "Let the king tell his servants the dream, and we'll disclose its meaning."

¹⁰ The Chaldeans answered: »There is no man on earth who can do what the king requires. No king, lord, or ruler, has asked such a thing of any magician, or enchanter, or Chaldean.

²⁷ Daniel answered: »Wise men, enchanters, magicians, and soothsayers cannot show the secret the king demanded.

⁸ Just as Jannes and Jambres opposed Moses, so also these oppose the truth—men of depraved mind, disqualified as regards the faith— ⁹ But they will not get very far because, as in the case of those two men, their stupidity will be plain to everyone.

¹⁷ I will come down and speak with you there; I will take away from the spirit that is on you, and I will place it on them; and they will bear the burdens of the people with you; you will not bear it alone. ¹⁸ “Say to the people, 'Sanctify yourselves in preparation for tomorrow, and you will eat meat; for you have wept in the ears of the LORD, saying, “Who will give us meat to eat? For it was well with us in Egypt.” Therefore the LORD will give you meat, and you will eat. ¹⁹ You will not eat just one day, or two days, or five days, or ten days, or twenty days, ²⁰ but a whole month, until it comes out at your nostrils, and it is loathsome to you; because you have rejected the LORD who is among you, and have wept before him, saying, “Why did we come out of Egypt?”'” ²¹ And Moses said: There are six hundred thousand footmen of this people, and sayest thou: I will give them flesh to eat a whole month? ²² "Could enough cattle and sheep even be killed to satisfy them? Are all the fish in the sea enough for them? ²³ The LORD said to Moses, "Has the LORD's hand grown short? Now you will see whether my word will happen to you or not." ²⁴ Thus Moses went out and told the people what the LORD said. He assembled seventy of the leaders and placed them around the tent. ²⁵ the LORD came down in the cloud, and spoke to him, and took of the Spirit that was on him, and put it on the seventy elders. When the Spirit rested on them, they prophesied, but they did so no more. ²⁶ Two of the seventy elders, Eldad and Medad, stayed in the camp and did not go out to the tent. There in the camp the Spirit came on them, and they too began to shout like prophets. ²⁷ A young man ran, and told Moses, and said, "Eldad and Medad are prophesying in the camp." ²⁸ Joshua son of Nun, who had been Moses' helper since he was a young man, spoke up and said to Moses: "Stop them, sir!" ²⁹ Moses said to him, "Are you jealous for my sake? I wish that all the LORD's people were prophets, that the LORD would put his Spirit on them." ³⁰ Then Moses and the elders of Israel went back to the camp.

¹ Bel bows down and Nebo stoops low. Their idols are borne by beasts of burden. The images that are carried about are burdensome. They are a burden for the weary.

¹¹ Then he remembered the days of old, Moses and his people, saying, “Where is he who brought them up out of the sea with the shepherds of his flock? Where is he who put his Holy Spirit among them?”

² "Declare and proclaim among the nations. Lift up a banner and proclaim. Don't conceal anything. Say, 'Babylon will be captured. Bel will be disgraced, and Marduk will be destroyed. Her idols will be disgraced, and her filthy images will be destroyed.'

⁷ The prince of the eunuchs gave names to them: to Daniel he gave the name Belteshazzar; to Hananiah, Shadrach; to Mishael, Meshach; and to Azariah, Abednego.

¹¹ Furthermore, what the king is asking is so difficult that no one can reveal it except the gods and they don't live with human beings."

⁹ " 'O Belteshazzar, chief of the magicians, I myself know that the spirit of the holy gods is in you, and no mystery is too difficult for you. Now tell me the visions of my dream that I saw, and its explanation.

¹⁸ "This is the dream that I, King Nebuchadnezzar, saw. Belteshazzar, tell me its meaning, since none of the advisors in my kingdom can tell me its interpretation. But you are able to do so because the spirit of the holy gods is in you."

¹¹ There is a man in your kingdom, in whom is the spirit of the holy gods; and in the days of your father light and understanding and wisdom, like the wisdom of the gods, were found in him; and king Nebuchadnezzar your father, your father the king, made him chief of the magicians, enchanters, Chaldeans, and diviners; ¹² because Daniel, whom the king named Belteshazzar, was found to have a more excellent spirit and greater knowledge and understanding interpreting dreams, unraveling questions, and dissolving doubts. Now let Daniel be called, and he will show thee the interpretation.

¹⁴ I've heard about you, that a spirit of the gods is in you and that you have insight, discernment, and extraordinary wisdom.

⁶ the LORD said: "If they become one people speaking the same language, nothing will be impossible for them. They have begun to do this. ⁷ "Let us go down and confuse their language so they will not understand each other." ⁸ the LORD scattered them from there over all the earth. They stopped building the city.

⁹ The chief cupbearer told his dream to Joseph, and said to him, "In my dream, look, a vine was in front of me, ¹⁰ and in the vine were three branches. It was as though it budded, it blossomed, and its clusters produced ripe grapes. ¹¹ Pharaoh's cup was in my hand; and I took the grapes, and pressed them into Pharaoh's cup, and I gave the cup into Pharaoh's hand." ¹² "This is what it means," Joseph said to him. "The three branches are three days. ¹³ "In the next three days Pharaoh will release you and restore you to your position. You will put Pharaoh's cup in his hand as you used to do when you were his cupbearer. ¹⁴ "Remember me when things go well for you. Please do me a favor. Mention me to Pharaoh, and get me out of this prison. ¹⁵ For I was, stolen, out of the land of the Hebrews,—and, even here, had I done nothing, that they should have put me in the dungeon, ¹⁶ When the chief baker saw that he had well interpreted it, he said unto Joseph, "Me thought also in my dream, that I had three wicker baskets on my head. ¹⁷ And in the upper basket were all sorts of baked foods for Pharaoh, but the birds were eating them out of the basket upon my head." ¹⁸ Joseph answered, "This is its interpretation. The three baskets are three days. ¹⁹ Yet within three days Pharaoh will lift up your head from you and hang you on a tree, and the birds will eat your flesh off you.

¹⁵ Pharaoh said to Joseph, "I have dreamed a dream, and there is no one who can interpret it. I have heard it said of you, that when you hear a dream you can interpret it." ¹⁶ And Joseph answered Pharaoh, saying, "God shall give Pharaoh an answer of peace without me." ¹⁷ And Pharaoh said to Joseph, In my dream, lo, I was standing on the lip of the River. ¹⁸ And out of the Nile came seven cows, fat and good-looking, and their food was the river-grass; ¹⁹ Then after them came seven other cows, very thin and poor-looking, worse than any I ever saw in the land of Egypt; ²⁰ And the thin cows made a meal of the seven fat cows who came up first; ²¹ »Even though they had eaten the fat cows, no one could tell they had eaten them. They looked just as sick as before. Then I woke up. ²² And again in a dream I saw seven heads of grain, full and good, coming up on one stem: ²³ »Seven other heads of grain, withered, thin, and scorched by the east wind, sprouted behind them. ²⁴ "The thin heads of grain swallowed the seven good heads. I told this to the magicians, but no one could tell me what it meant." ²⁵ Then Joseph said to Pharaoh, "The dreams of Pharaoh are one. God has revealed to Pharaoh what he is about to do. ²⁶ "The seven good cows are seven years. The seven good heads of grain are seven years. It is all the same dream. ²⁷ The seven thin and ugly cattle that came up after them are seven years, and also the seven empty heads of grain blasted with the east wind; they will be seven years of famine. ²⁸ "It is just as I said to Pharaoh. God has shown Pharaoh what he is going to do. ²⁹ Behold, seven years of great abundance are coming throughout the whole land of Egypt. ³⁰ And seven years of famine will arise after them and all the plenty of the land of Egypt will be forgotten; and the famine will consume the land. ³¹ Abundance in the land will not be known because of the famine that follows, for it will be very heavy. ³² "The reason Pharaoh has had a recurring dream is because the matter has been definitely decided by God. He will do it very soon. ³³ And now will Pharaoh look out a man discerning and wise, and set him over the land of Egypt ³⁴ Let Pharaoh act and let him appoint rulers over the land and take a fifth of the land of Egypt in the seven years of plenty. ³⁵ Let them gather all the food of these good years that come, and store grain under the hand of Pharaoh for food in the cities, and let them keep it. ³⁶ "This food will be a reserve supply for our country during the seven years of famine that will happen in Egypt. Then the land will not be ruined by the famine."

³⁸ And Pharaoh said to his servants, Can we find any man like this, in whom is the Spirit of God?

¹³ When Gideon arrived, he heard a man telling a friend about a dream. He was saying: "I dreamed that a loaf of barley bread rolled into our camp and hit a tent. The tent collapsed and lay flat on the ground." ¹⁴ His friend answered him and said, "This cannot be anything except the sword of Gideon son of Jehoash, a man of Israel; God has given Midian and the entire camp into his hand." ¹⁵ When Gideon heard the dream and its interpretation he worshiped God. He returned to the camp of Israel, and called out: »Arise! the LORD has delivered the camp of Midian into your hand.«

⁸ Woe to us! Who will deliver us from the hand of these mighty gods? These are the gods who struck the Egyptians with all kinds of plagues in the desert.

¹⁸ In your thoughts you will ponder the former terror: "Where is that chief officer? Where is the one who took the revenue? Where is the officer in charge of the towers?"

¹⁴ "You will be established in righteousness. Tyranny will be far from you. You will have nothing to fear. Terror will be far removed and it will not come near you.

³ Look, are you wiser than Daniel, so that no secret is hidden from you?

²⁰ In every matter of wisdom and understanding about which the king enquired of them, he found them ten times better than all the magicians and enchanters who were in all his kingdom.

³ The king said: "I had a dream that troubles me and I want to understand what the dream means." ⁴ Then spoke the Chaldeans to the king in Aramaic, O king, live forever: tell your servants the dream, and we will show the interpretation. ⁵ The king answered the Chaldees, The subject is gone from me. If you do not tell me the dream and the interpretation you shall be put to death and your houses shall be exposed to plunder.

⁴⁸ Then the king promoted Daniel to a high position and lavished many great gifts on him, including making him ruler over the entire province of Babylon and chief administrator over the advisors of Babylon.

⁵ I saw a dream which made me afraid; and the thoughts on my bed and the visions of my head troubled me.

⁸ Eventually, Daniel appeared before me. (He is called Belteshazzar, in accordance with the name of my god, and the spirit of the holy gods is within him.) I told him my dream:

¹¹ There is a man in your kingdom, in whom is the spirit of the holy gods; and in the days of your father light and understanding and wisdom, like the wisdom of the gods, were found in him; and king Nebuchadnezzar your father, your father the king, made him chief of the magicians, enchanters, Chaldeans, and diviners;

³⁵ I have seen the wicked in great power, and spreading like a green tree in its native soil: ³⁶ yet he passed away, and, lo, he was not; and I looked for him, but he could not be found.

³³ Behold, the Sovereign Sovereign LORD Almighty will lop off the boughs with great power. The lofty trees will be cut down! The tall ones will be brought low. ³⁴ He will cut down the forest thickets with an ax. Lebanon will fall before the Mighty One.

² You plant them, and they take root. They grow and bear fruit. You are near their lips, but far from their mind.

³ Behold, the Ashshuri, a cedar in Lebanon with beautiful branches with an overshadowing forest and high in height; with his foliage among the thick foliage: ⁴ The waters nourished it. The deep made it to grow. The rivers of it ran all around its plantation and it sent out its channels to all the trees of the field. ⁵ In this way it became taller than all the trees of the field; and its branches were increased and its arms became long because of the great waters. ⁶ "'All the birds of the heavens nested in its boughs. Under its branches all the beasts of the field gave birth and all great nations lived under its shade. ⁷ So it was beautiful, being so tall and its branches so long, for its root was by great waters. ⁸ The cedars in the garden of God could not hide it; the fir trees were not like its boughs, and the plane trees were not as its branches; nor was any tree in the garden of God like it in its beauty. ⁹ I have made him beautiful by his many branches, so that all the trees of Eden in the garden of God envied him. ¹⁰ “Therefore thus said the Sovereign LORD: 'Because you are exalted in stature, and he has set his top among the thick boughs, and his heart is lifted up in his height; ¹¹ then I gave it into the hand of the leader of nations; he dealt thoroughly with it according to its wickedness. I drove it out. ¹² »‘Alien tyrants of the nations have cut it down and left it. On the mountains and in all the valleys its branches have fallen and its boughs have been broken in all the ravines of the land. All the peoples of the earth have gone down from its shade and left it. ¹³ All the fowls of the air dwelt upon his ruins, and all the beasts of the field were among his branches. ¹⁴ so that all the trees by the waters may not be exalted in their stature, nor set their top among the clouds, nor their well-watered mighty ones stand erect in their height. For they have all been given over to death, to the earth beneath, among the sons of men, with those who go down to the pit.' ¹⁵ "The Sovereign LORD says: 'On the day when it went down to the grave I caused cries of sorrow. I closed the deep over it and held back its rivers. Its many waters were stopped up, and I made Lebanon mourn for it. All the trees of the field wilted away on account of it. ¹⁶ I made the nations to shake at the sound of his fall when I cast him down to Sheol with those who descend into the pit. And all the trees of Eden, the choice and best of Lebanon, all that drink water, were comforted in the nether p ¹⁷ They also went down with him into Sheol, to the slain of the sword, even his arm, who dwelt in his shadow in the midst of the nations. ¹⁸ "'Which of the trees of Eden are you equal to in glory and greatness? Yet you will be brought down with the trees of Eden to the earth beneath. You will lie in the midst of the uncircumcised, with those who were slain by the sword. So is Pharaoh and all his hordes!' Declares the Sovereign LORD."'

²⁰ The tree that you saw, which grew large and strong until its top reached the sky and became visible to the whole earth ²¹ And its foliage beautiful, and its fruit great, and food for all in it; under it the beast of the open field will dwell, and in its branches the birds of the heavens will dwell: ²² it's you, your majesty! You've become great and strong, your greatness has grown to the heavens, and your dominion reaches to the distant parts of the earth. ²³ "Your majesty saw a holy observer descending from heaven and saying, 'Cut down the tree and destroy it, but leave the stump in the ground, along with its roots, bound with iron and bronze in the field grass. Let him be soaked with the dew of the sky and live with the wild animals of the field until seven seasons pass over him.' ²⁴ This is the interpretation, O king, and this is the decree of the most High, which is come upon my lord the king: ²⁵ You will be driven from men. Your dwelling will be with the beasts of the field. You will eat grass like oxen and will be wet with the dew of heaven. Seven times shall pass over you until you know that the Most High rules in the kingdom of men, and gives it to whomever he will. ²⁶ And in that they said to leave alone the stump of the tree's root, so your kingdom will be restored for you when you acknowledge that heaven is sovereign.

⁴ Then they said: "Let us build ourselves a city, with a lofty tower that reaches into space, so that we may make a name for ourselves and not be scattered over the face of the whole earth."

¹ Hear, Israel! Thou art now about to cross the Jordan, to go in to possess nations much greater and stronger than you, large cities, which are walled up to the sky,

²¹ And its foliage beautiful, and its fruit great, and food for all in it; under it the beast of the open field will dwell, and in its branches the birds of the heavens will dwell: ²² it's you, your majesty! You've become great and strong, your greatness has grown to the heavens, and your dominion reaches to the distant parts of the earth.

²³ And you, Capernaum, will you be lifted up to heaven? No, you will descend to Hades! For if the miracles that were performed in you had happened in Sodom, it would have remained to this day.

⁶ "Now I have handed all these countries over to my servant King Nebuchadnezzar of Babylon. I have even made wild animals serve him. ⁷ And all nations shall serve him, and his son, and his son's son, until the time of his own land comes. And then many nations and great kings shall enslave him.

²⁰ The breath of our nostrils, the anointed of Yahweh, was taken in their pits; of whom we said, under his shadow we will live among the nations.

²³ I will plant it in the mountain of the height of Israel; and it will produce boughs, and bear fruit, and be a good cedar. Birds of every kind will dwell in the shade of its branches.

⁶ "'All the birds of the heavens nested in its boughs. Under its branches all the beasts of the field gave birth and all great nations lived under its shade. ⁷ So it was beautiful, being so tall and its branches so long, for its root was by great waters.

³² Although it is the smallest of all seeds, yet it grows into the largest of garden plants and becomes a tree, so that the birds of the air come and nest in its branches.”

³² Now no one knows anything about that day or hour, not even the angels in heaven, not even the Son, but only the Father.

¹⁹ It is like a mustard seed, which a man took and sowed in his garden; and it grew and became a tree, and the birds of the air nested in its branches."

² Then he said, "the LORD came from Sinai, and he dawned upon them from Seir; he shone forth from Mount Paran, and he came with myriads of holy ones, at his right hand a fiery law for them.

⁷ a God very awesome in the council of the holy ones and to be feared above all those who are all around him?

²⁰ Bless the LORD, you his angels, you mighty heroes who do his word by obeying the sound of his word.

¹⁰ Thus were the visions of my head on my bed: I saw, and behold, a tree in the middle of the earth; and its height was great.

²³ "Your majesty saw a holy observer descending from heaven and saying, 'Cut down the tree and destroy it, but leave the stump in the ground, along with its roots, bound with iron and bronze in the field grass. Let him be soaked with the dew of the sky and live with the wild animals of the field until seven seasons pass over him.'

¹ In the first year of Belshazzar king of Babylon Daniel had a dream and visions in his mind on his bed. Then he wrote the dream and told the summary of it.

¹⁷ These four great beasts, are four kingdoms, which shall arise out of the earth.

²³ "And he said, 'The fourth beast is the fourth kingdom that will be on the earth that will be different from all the other kingdoms, and it will devour the whole earth and it will trample it and it will crush it.

¹³ Then I heard a holy one speaking; and another holy one said to that certain one who spoke, "How long shall be the vision concerning the daily sacrifice, and the transgression that makes desolate, to give both the sanctuary and the host to be trampled?"

⁵ "You will flee by the valley of my mountains. For the valley of the mountains will reach to Azel. Yes you will flee the same as you fled from the earthquake in the days of Uzziah king of Judah. the LORD my God will come, and all the holy ones with him.

³¹ When the Son of man comes in his glory and all the angels with him, then he will sit on the throne of his glory,

²⁴ "What do you want with us, Jesus of Nazareth? Have you come to destroy us? I know who you are--the Holy One of God!"

³⁴ "Stop! What do you want with us, Jesus of Nazareth? Have you come to destroy us? I know who you are--the Holy One of God!"

¹⁴ Enoch, the seventh from Adam, prophesied about these, saying: "Behold, the LORD came with many thousands of his holy ones.

¹⁰ will drink the wine of God's wrath, which has been poured undiluted into the cup of his anger. He will be tortured with fire and sulfur in the presence of the holy angels and the lamb.

⁶ Flee from Babylon, and each of you, escape with your life! Don't be destroyed because of her guilt, for it's time for the LORD's vengeance. He is paying back what is due to her.

⁹ “We would have healed Babylon, but she is not healed. Forsake her, and let's each go into his own country; for her judgment reaches to heaven, and is lifted up even to the skies.

¹² »‘Alien tyrants of the nations have cut it down and left it. On the mountains and in all the valleys its branches have fallen and its boughs have been broken in all the ravines of the land. All the peoples of the earth have gone down from its shade and left it. ¹³ All the fowls of the air dwelt upon his ruins, and all the beasts of the field were among his branches.

¹² its leaves were fair, and its fruit abundant, and in it was food for all; and under it the wild beasts of the field took shelter, and the birds of the sky lodged in the branches of it, and all flesh was fed by it.

²⁰ But when his heart was lifted up, and his mind hardened in pride, he was deposed from his kingly throne, and they took his glory from him:

¹⁰ The ax lies ready at the root of the trees, and every tree that does not produce good fruit will be cut down and thrown into the fire.

¹⁹ Every tree that does not bear good fruit is cut down and thrown into the fire.

⁹ The ax lies ready at the root of the trees, and every tree that does not produce good fruit will be cut down and thrown into the fire.”

⁷ So he said to the gardener, 'Look here! For three years I have been coming to look for fruit on this tree but haven't found any. Cut it down! Why should it waste the soil?' ⁸ ‘Sir,’ the man replied, ‘leave it alone again this year, until I dig around it and fertilize it. ⁹ If it bears fruit next year, fine. But if not, you can cut it down.’”

³ and he cried out with a loud voice, like the roar of a lion. When he shouted, the voices of the seven thunders spoke.

² And he called out with a mighty voice, "Fallen, fallen is Babylon the great! She has become a dwelling place of demons, a haunt of every unclean spirit, a haunt of every unclean and hateful bird.

⁷ "At least there is hope for a tree: If it is cut down, it will sprout again, and its new shoots will not fail. ⁸ "Its roots may grow old in the ground and its stump die in the soil, ⁹ yet at the scent of water it will bud and put forth growth like a plant.

¹⁴ ""'I will turn the fortunes of Egypt and make them return to the land of Pathros, to the land of their origin. They will be a lowly kingdom. ¹⁵ ""'It will be the lowest of the kingdoms, and it will never again lift itself up above the nations. I will make them so small that they will not rule over the nations.

²⁵ You will be driven from men. Your dwelling will be with the beasts of the field. You will eat grass like oxen and will be wet with the dew of heaven. Seven times shall pass over you until you know that the Most High rules in the kingdom of men, and gives it to whomever he will. ²⁶ And in that they said to leave alone the stump of the tree's root, so your kingdom will be restored for you when you acknowledge that heaven is sovereign. ²⁷ Therefore, your majesty, may my advice be acceptable to you: Stop your sinning, do what's right, and put a stop to your wickedness by showing kindness to the oppressed. Perhaps your tranquility will continue."

¹⁰ Make the heart of this people fat, and make their ears heavy, and shut their eyes, lest they see with their eyes, and hear with their ears, and understand with their heart, and turn, and be healed.

²⁵ You will be driven from men. Your dwelling will be with the beasts of the field. You will eat grass like oxen and will be wet with the dew of heaven. Seven times shall pass over you until you know that the Most High rules in the kingdom of men, and gives it to whomever he will.

³¹ The word was still in the king's voice when a voice fell from the heaven, saying, O king Nebuchadnezzar, to you it is declared: The kingdom has been taken from you! ³² You're to be driven away from people. You're to live with the wild animals of the field. You shall be made to eat grass like cattle, and seven years will pass you by until you realize that the Most High is sovereign over human kingdoms and grants them to whomever he desires.' ³³ The decree was fulfilled against Nebuchadnezzar immediately. He was driven away from people to eat grass like cattle, and his body was drenched with dew from the sky, until his hair grew like eagles' feathers and his nails like birds' claws."

²⁵ He'll speak out against the Most High and wear down the saints of the Highest One. He'll attempt to alter times and laws, and they'll be given into his control for a time, times, and half a time.

¹³ And the king of the north will again raise a multitude, greater than the former, and at the end of some years he will surely come with a great army and with great supplies.

⁷ I heard the man clothed in linen, who was above the waters of the river, when he held up his right hand and his left hand to heaven, and swore by him who lives forever that it will be for a time, times, and a half; and when they have finished breaking in pieces the power of the holy people, all these things will be finished.

⁴ For he had often been bound with shackles and chains, but he wrenched the chains apart, and he broke the shackles in pieces. No one had the strength to subdue him. ⁵ Night and day in the tombs and in the mountains, he kept crying out and cutting himself with stones.

²⁷ When Jesus stepped ashore, He was met by a demon-possessed man from the town. For a long time this man had not worn clothing or lived in a house, but he stayed in the tombs. ²⁸ When he saw Jesus, he cried out and fell down before Him, shouting in a loud voice, “What do You want with me, Jesus, Son of the Most High God? I beg You not to torture me!” ²⁹ For Jesus had commanded the unclean spirit to come out of the man. Many times it had seized him, and though he was bound with chains and shackles, he had broken the chains and been driven by the demon into solitary places.

¹¹ They will perish, but You remain; They will all wear out like a garment.

¹⁴ But the woman was given the two wings of a great eagle, so that she might fly to her place in the desert, where she is to be taken care of for a time, times, and a half-time, on account of the serpent.

¹⁶ but indeed for this purpose I have raised you up, to show you my power, and that my name may be proclaimed in all the earth;

⁸ he raises the poor from the dust; and lifts the needy from the dunghill - to set them among volunteers - to inherit the throne of honor: for the pillars of the earth are unto Yah Veh and on them he set the world.

²⁵ There was no one like Ahab, who gave himself up to do evil in the eyes of the Lord, moved to it by Jezebel his wife.

¹⁹ Micaiah said, "Therefore hear the word of the LORD. I saw the LORD sitting on his throne, and all the army of heaven standing by him on his right hand and on his left. ²⁰ the LORD said, 'Who will entice Ahab, that he may go up and fall at Ramoth Gilead?' One said one thing; and another said another.

⁶ He made his son to pass through the fire, and practiced sorcery, and practiced divination, and consulted mediums, and spiritists: he worked much evil in the sight of the LORD, to provoke him to anger. ⁷ He put the image of the Asherah that he had made in the temple which the LORD had said to David and to Solomon his son, "In this temple and in Jerusalem which I have chosen from all of the tribes of Israel, I will put my name forever. ⁸ And I will not again make the feet of Israel wander any more out of the land which I gave their fathers; only if they observe to do all that I commanded them, and to all the law that My servant Moses commanded them. ⁹ But they would not listen. Manasseh led them astray to practice more evil than the nations whom the LORD had destroyed in the presence of the Israelites. ¹⁰ the LORD said through his servants the prophets: ¹¹ "Manasseh king of Judah committed detestable sins. He did more evil than all the Amorites before him. He enticed Judah to do evil with his false gods. ¹² therefore this is what the LORD God of Israel says: 'Look! I'm going to bring such a disaster to Jerusalem and Judah that both ears of those who hear about it will ring. ¹³ I'll stretch out over Jerusalem the measuring line that is Samaria and the plumb line that is Ahab's dynasty. Then I'll wipe Jerusalem like one wipes a dish, wiping it and turning it upside down! ¹⁴ I will cast off the remnant of my inheritance, and deliver them into the hands of their enemies. They will become a prey and a plunder to all their enemies, ¹⁵ because they have done evil in My eyes, and have provoked Me to anger from the day their fathers came out of Egypt, even to this day. ¹⁶ Moreover, Manasseh shed very much innocent blood until he filled Jerusalem from one end to another, apart from his sin which he caused Judah to sin by doing evil in the eyes of the LORD. ¹⁷ Now, the rest of the story of Manasseh, and all that he did, and his sin that he committed, are, they, not written in the book of the Chronicles of the Kings of Judah? ¹⁸ Manasseh slept with his fathers, and was buried in the garden of his own house, in the garden of Uzza; and Amon his son reigned in his place.

²² In the midst of his troubles, King Ahaz became more and more unfaithful to the LORD.

¹⁶ the LORD is known [by] the judgment he hath executed: the wicked is ensnared in the work of his own hands. Higgaion. Selah.

⁸ The wicked walk on every side, when what is vile is exalted among the sons of men.

⁶ For not from the east, or from the west, Nor from the wilderness— is elevation. ⁷ God is the Judge; He brings down one and exalts another.

¹⁷ Shame and terrify them eternally; yes, that they blush and destruct; ¹⁸ And let them know Your name is the LORD, that You alone are the Most High over all the earth.

⁷ He raises the poor from the dust and lifts the needy from the dunghill ⁸ to seat them with princes, with the princes of his people.

³ They called to one another: "Holy, holy, holy is the LORD Almighty. All the earth is full of his glory."

⁸ And I heard the voice of the Lord, saying, Whom shall I send, and who will go for us? And I said, Here am I: send me.

⁵ By my great power and outstretched arm I made the earth, mankind, and the animals that are on the face of the earth, and I give it to whomever I see fit.

²⁴ '"I will bring the wicked of the nations to take possession of their houses. I will put an end to the pride of the mighty, and their sanctuaries will be desecrated.

¹⁷ I will execute great vengeance on them with wrathful rebukes. Then they will know that I am the LORD, when I lay my vengeance on them.”'”

²¹ "He changes the times and the seasons. He removes kings, and sets up kings; he gives wisdom to the wise, and knowledge to the discerning.

⁸ Eventually, Daniel appeared before me. (He is called Belteshazzar, in accordance with the name of my god, and the spirit of the holy gods is within him.) I told him my dream: ⁹ " 'O Belteshazzar, chief of the magicians, I myself know that the spirit of the holy gods is in you, and no mystery is too difficult for you. Now tell me the visions of my dream that I saw, and its explanation.

¹³ In the visions of my head on my bed I saw a watcher, a holy one, coming down from heaven, ¹⁴ He cried aloud and so he said: "Cut down the tree and chop off its branches; shake off its foliage and scatter its fruit. Let the animals flee from under it, and the birds from its branches.

³² You're to be driven away from people. You're to live with the wild animals of the field. You shall be made to eat grass like cattle, and seven years will pass you by until you realize that the Most High is sovereign over human kingdoms and grants them to whomever he desires.' ³³ The decree was fulfilled against Nebuchadnezzar immediately. He was driven away from people to eat grass like cattle, and his body was drenched with dew from the sky, until his hair grew like eagles' feathers and his nails like birds' claws."

¹⁸ O king, the Most High God gave your father Nebuchadnezzar a kingdom, and majesty, and glory, and honor. ¹⁹ Because of the greatness that he gave him, all the peoples, nations, and languages trembled and feared before him. He killed whom he wanted to, and he kept alive whom he wanted to. He raised up whom he wanted to, and he put down whom he wanted to. ²⁰ But when his heart was lifted up, and his mind hardened in pride, he was deposed from his kingly throne, and they took his glory from him: ²¹ He was driven away from human society and given the mind of an animal. He lived with wild donkeys, ate grass like cattle, and his body was soaked with dew from the sky until he realized that the Most High God is sovereign over human kingdoms and places over them whomever he desires.

²¹ In his place shall arise a contemptible person, to whom they had not given the honour of the kingdom: but he shall come in time of security, and shall obtain the kingdom by flatteries.

²⁸ God chose the lowly things of this world and the despised things, and the things that are not, to nullify the things that are,

²¹ I charge you, in the presence of God and of Christ Jesus and of the elect angels, to keep these instructions without partiality, doing nothing out of favoritism.

⁸ And each of the four living creatures had six wings and was covered with eyes all around and within. Day and night they never stop saying: “Holy, Holy, Holy, is the Lord God Almighty, who was and is and is to come!”

¹⁵ Pharaoh said to Joseph, "I have dreamed a dream, and there is no one who can interpret it. I have heard it said of you, that when you hear a dream you can interpret it."

² And Jeroboam said to his wife, Arise, I pray thee, and disguise thyself, that thou not be known to be the wife of Jeroboam, and go to Shiloh, for Ahijah the prophet is there, who told me that I should be king over this people. ³ Take ten loaves with you, some cakes, and a jar of honey and go visit him. He will tell you what will happen to the boy."

³ "The Egyptians will become discouraged. I will bring their plans to nothing. They will consult the idols and the spirits of the dead, the mediums and the spiritists.

²⁶ The king said to Daniel, who was also called Belteshazzar: "Are you able to tell me about my dream and interpret it?" ²⁷ Daniel answered: »Wise men, enchanters, magicians, and soothsayers cannot show the secret the king demanded. ²⁸ But there is a God in Heaven who reveals secrets and makes known to King Nebuchadnezzar what shall be in the latter days. Your dream, and the visions of your head upon your bed are these.

⁷ Then the diviners, enchanters, Chaldeans, and astrologers came in, and I told them the dream. But they could not reveal its interpretation to me.

⁸ Then all the king's advisors came in, but they were unable to read the writing or tell the king what it meant.

¹⁵ Take note that the advisors and enchanters were brought before me to read the writing and explain its meaning, but they were unable to do so.

⁷ "The Sovereign LORD will do nothing without revealing his secrets to his servants the prophets.

³⁵ She said to her father, Don't let my lord be angry that I can't rise up before you; for I'm having my period. He searched, but didn't find the teraphim.

⁴ And he instructed them, saying, "Thus you must say to my lord, to Esau, 'Thus says your servant Jacob, I have dwelled as an alien with Laban, and I have remained there until now. ⁵ And I have oxen and donkeys, flocks and men-servants and maid-servants. And I have sent to tell my lord, that I may find favor in your sight.

¹⁸ Then you shall say, 'They are your servant, Jacob's. It is a present sent to my lord, Esau. Look, he also is behind us.'"

³² "Will you forgive their sin? If not, please wipe me out of the book you have written."

¹⁵ "No, sir!" Hannah replied. "I'm a deeply troubled woman. I've drunk neither wine nor beer. I've been pouring out my soul before the LORD.

¹⁷ He said, What was it that He said to you? Please don't hide it from me. May God deal with you severely if you hide anything from me of all the things that He said to you.

⁸ Then David got up and left the cave. He called to Saul: "My lord!" When Saul looked back. David knelt down with his face touching the ground.

¹⁵ David said to Abner, "Are you not a man, and who is like you in Israel? Why didn't you guard your lord, the king? Indeed, a soldier came to destroy the king, your lord.

³¹ Suddenly the Cushite arrived and said, "May my lord the king receive the good news, for the LORD has vindicated you today from the power of all who stood up against you." ³² The king said to the Cushite, "Is it peace for the young man Absalom?" Then the Cushite answered, "May the enemies of my lord the king and all who rise up against you to harm you be like the young man!"

⁷ As Obadiah was in the way, behold, Elijah met him: and he recognized him and fell on his face and said, Is it you, my lord Elijah?

¹⁹ "My anguish, my anguish! I writhe in pain. Oh, the aching of my heart! My heart pounds within me; I cannot keep silent. For I hear the sound of the trumpet, the alarm for war.

⁷ And seek the peace of the city where I have caused you to be exiled, and pray to the LORD for it. For in its peace you shall have peace.

²⁶ The king said to Daniel, who was also called Belteshazzar: "Are you able to tell me about my dream and interpret it?"

⁴ I, Nebuchadnezzar, was thriving in my house, and prospering. ⁵ I saw a dream which made me afraid; and the thoughts on my bed and the visions of my head troubled me.

²⁴ This is the interpretation, O king, and this is the decree of the most High, which is come upon my lord the king:

¹² because Daniel, whom the king named Belteshazzar, was found to have a more excellent spirit and greater knowledge and understanding interpreting dreams, unraveling questions, and dissolving doubts. Now let Daniel be called, and he will show thee the interpretation.

¹⁵ I Daniel was distressed in my spirit in its body, and the visions of my head troubled me.

²⁷ I, Daniel, fainted, and was sick for some days. Then I rose up, and did the king's business. I wondered at the vision, but no one understood it.

¹⁶ Then one who looked like a human touched my lips. Then I opened my mouth, and spoke to him: »O my lord, by reason of the vision I have convulsions and I have no strength. ¹⁷ How may my lord's servant then talk with my lord? Seeing there is no strength in me, so that I cannot take my breath?"

¹⁰ The mountains saw you, and were afraid. The storm of waters passed by. The deep roared and lifted up its hands on high.

³ Behold, the Ashshuri, a cedar in Lebanon with beautiful branches with an overshadowing forest and high in height; with his foliage among the thick foliage:

¹⁶ I made the nations to shake at the sound of his fall when I cast him down to Sheol with those who descend into the pit. And all the trees of Eden, the choice and best of Lebanon, all that drink water, were comforted in the nether p

¹⁰ Thus were the visions of my head on my bed: I saw, and behold, a tree in the middle of the earth; and its height was great. ¹¹ The tree grew large, became strong, and its top reached the sky. It could be seen to the ends of the earth. ¹² its leaves were fair, and its fruit abundant, and in it was food for all; and under it the wild beasts of the field took shelter, and the birds of the sky lodged in the branches of it, and all flesh was fed by it.

¹² He dreamed and saw a stairway set upon the earth, and its top reached to heaven. Behold, the angels of God were ascending and descending on it.

⁷ Nathan said to David, "You are the man. This is what the LORD, the God of Israel, says: 'I anointed you king over Israel, and I delivered you out of the hand of Saul.

⁹ But a prophet of the LORD was there, whose name was Oded: and he went out to meet the army that came to Samaria, and said to them, "Look, because the LORD, the God of your fathers, was angry with Judah, he has delivered them into your hand, and you have slain them in a rage which has reached up to heaven.

⁵ Your loving kindness, O LORD, is in the heavens, your faithfulness to the skies.

⁴ For Your grace is great above the heavens, Your faithfulness reaches to the skies.

⁶ "Now I have handed all these countries over to my servant King Nebuchadnezzar of Babylon. I have even made wild animals serve him. ⁷ And all nations shall serve him, and his son, and his son's son, until the time of his own land comes. And then many nations and great kings shall enslave him. ⁸ If a nation and kingdom does not serve him King Nebuchadnezzar of Babylon and does not put its neck under the yoke of the king of Babylon, I'll judge that nation with the sword, with famine, and with plague," declares the LORD, "until I've completely destroyed it by his hand.

³⁷ You, O king, are a king of kings: for the God of heaven has given you a kingdom, power, and strength, and glory. ³⁸ »He gave the children of men, the beasts of the field and the birds of the heavens to your hand. He made you the ruler over them all! You are the head of gold.

You praised gods of silver, gold, bronze, iron, wood, and stone, which can't see, hear, or demonstrate knowledge. But you didn't honor God, who holds in his power your very life and all your ways.

⁴ For John had been saying to him, “It is not lawful for you to have her.”

⁵ For her sins are piled up to the sky, and God has remembered her crimes.

And let it be wet with the dew of the heavens, and his portion be with the animals in the grass of the earth. ¹⁶ Let his mind be changed from that of a man, and let him be given the mind of an animal until seven seasons of time pass by for him.

²¹ He was driven away from human society and given the mind of an animal. He lived with wild donkeys, ate grass like cattle, and his body was soaked with dew from the sky until he realized that the Most High God is sovereign over human kingdoms and places over them whomever he desires.

¹² The LORD said to Satan, "Look, all that he has is in your power. Only on himself do not put forth your hand." So Satan went forth from the presence of the LORD. ¹³ And a day came when his sons and his daughters were eating and drinking wine in their oldest brother's house. ¹⁴ a messenger approached Job and said, "The oxen were plowing and the female donkeys were grazing nearby ¹⁵ And the Sabeans rushed in, and took all away, and slew the servants with the sword; and I alone have escaped to tell thee. ¹⁶ While he was still speaking, another also came and said, “The fire of God has fallen from the sky, and has burned up the sheep and the servants, and consumed them, and I alone have escaped to tell you.” ¹⁷ While he was still speaking, there came also another, and said, "The Chaldeans made three bands, and swept down on the camels, and have taken them away, yes, and killed the servants with the edge of the sword; and I alone have escaped to tell you." ¹⁸ While he was still speaking, there also came another and said, Your sons and your daughters were eating and drinking wine in their oldest brother's house. ¹⁹ when a strong wind came straight out of the wilderness and struck the four corners of the house. It collapsed on the young people, and they died. I alone escaped to tell you!"

²⁹ "This is the fate God allots the wicked, the heritage appointed for them by God."

¹¹ "Unleash the fury of your wrath, look at every proud man and bring him low! ¹² "Look at every proud man and humble him, crush the wicked where they stand.

⁷ I will tell of the decree. The LORD said to me, "You are my son. Today I have become your father.

⁴⁰ he pours contempt on princes and causes them to wander in a trackless waste.

⁶ And he put them in place forever and ever, by a decree he gave that will not pass away.

²⁴ the LORD Almighty has sworn, saying, Surely as I have thought, so it shall come to pass; and as I have purposed, it shall stand; ²⁵ To break Assur in my land, and upon my mountain I will tread him down: and his yoke was removed from off them, and his burden shall remove from off their shoulder. ²⁶ This is the plan that is determined for the whole earth. This is the hand that is stretched out over all the nations. ²⁷ For the LORD Almighty has purposed, and who shall reverse it? And His hand is stretched out, and who shall turn it back?

⁹ the LORD Almighty has planned it: to defile the pride of all glory, to humble all the honored ones of the earth.

¹⁰ "I make known the end from the beginning, from ancient times, what is still to come. I say: 'My purpose will stand, and I will do all that I please.' ¹¹ I summon a bird of prey from the east. I summon a man to fulfill my purpose from a far off land. What I have said I will bring about. What I have determined (purposed) I will do.

³ Withered up through want and hunger, they flee into waste places long since desolate and desert: ⁴ They pluck salt herbs by the bushes. The roots of the broom are their food. ⁵ they are driven from the midst; they shouted against them as a thief; ⁶ They dwelt in the clifts of the valleys, in caves of the earth, and in the rocks. ⁷ They bray among the bushes; they huddle together under the nettles; ⁸ Sons of fools, and sons of nameless sires, they are driven out of the land.

⁷ God is the Judge; He brings down one and exalts another.

¹⁸ And let them know Your name is the LORD, that You alone are the Most High over all the earth.

²⁰ Thus they exchanged their glory for an image of a bull that eats grass.

⁵ By my great power and outstretched arm I made the earth, mankind, and the animals that are on the face of the earth, and I give it to whomever I see fit.

You've had the vessels from his temple brought into your presence. And you, your officials, and your wives and mistresses drank wine from them. You praised gods of silver, gold, bronze, iron, wood, and stone, which can't see, hear, or demonstrate knowledge. But you didn't honor God, who holds in his power your very life and all your ways. ²⁴ Therefore, the hand that wrote this inscription was sent from his presence. ²⁵ And this is the writing that was written, MENE, MENE, TEKEL, UPHARSIN. ²⁶ This is the interpretation of it: MENE; God has numbered your kingdom, and brought it to an end; ²⁷ Tekel; it has been weighed in the balance, and found wanting. ²⁸ Peres; your kingdom is divided, and given to the Medes and Persians. ²⁹ Then Belshazzar gave orders to clothe Daniel in purple, to place a chain of gold around his neck, and to proclaimed him the third highest ruler of the kingdom. ³⁰ In that night Belshazzar king of the Chaldeans is slain, ³¹ and Darius the Mede took over the kingdom at the age of 62.

³ He lived in the tombs, and no one could bind him any more, not even with a chain. ⁴ For he had often been bound with shackles and chains, but he wrenched the chains apart, and he broke the shackles in pieces. No one had the strength to subdue him.

³⁷ You, O king, are a king of kings: for the God of heaven has given you a kingdom, power, and strength, and glory.

¹⁵ But leave the stump of its roots in the earth, even with a fetter of iron and bronze, in the grass of the field. And let it be wet with the dew of the heavens, and his portion be with the animals in the grass of the earth.

³⁴ But I tell you not to swear at all: either by heaven, for it is God’s throne;

²⁰ When the disciples saw this, they marveled and asked, “How did the fig tree wither so quickly?”

¹⁸ I will get up and go back to my father and say to him, “Father, I have sinned against heaven and against you.

²¹ then the son said to him, father, I have sinned against heaven, and against you, I am no longer worthy to be called your son.

³³ And now will Pharaoh look out a man discerning and wise, and set him over the land of Egypt ³⁴ Let Pharaoh act and let him appoint rulers over the land and take a fifth of the land of Egypt in the seven years of plenty. ³⁵ Let them gather all the food of these good years that come, and store grain under the hand of Pharaoh for food in the cities, and let them keep it. ³⁶ "This food will be a reserve supply for our country during the seven years of famine that will happen in Egypt. Then the land will not be ruined by the famine." ³⁷ And this seemed good to Pharaoh and to all his servants.

²⁹ "Have you seen how Ahab has humbled himself before me? Because he has humbled himself before me, I will not bring disaster in his days. I will bring the disaster on his house in the days of his son."

³¹ "For has any said to God, 'I am guilty, but I will not offend any more. ³² teach me yourself what I cannot see; if I have done wrong, I will not repeat it'?

¹ To the Chief Musician. A Psalm of David. Blessed is he who acts wisely toward the poor; the LORD will deliver him in time of trouble. ² The LORD will protect him and keep him alive; he will be blessed in the land; and he will not be handed over to the desires of his enemies. ³ The LORD will sustain him on his sickbed, and restore him from his bed of illness.

⁴⁶ I also will speak of your testimonies before kings and will not be put to shame.

⁶ Through kindness and truth is iniquity atoned for; and by the fear of the Lord men depart from evil.

¹³ He who conceals his sins doesn’t prosper, but whoever confesses and renounces them finds mercy.

⁶ Seek the LORD while he may be found. Call on him while he is near. ⁷ Let the wicked forsake his way and the evil man his thoughts. Let him turn to the LORD, and he will have mercy on him, and to our God, for he will freely pardon.

⁵ Is this the fast that I have chosen? A day for a man to humble his soul? Is it to bow down his head like a reed, and to spread sackcloth and ashes under himself? Will you call this a fast, and an acceptable day to the LORD? ⁶ Is not this the fast that I have chosen? to loose the bonds of wickedness, to undo the bands of the yoke, and to let the oppressed go free, and that ye break every yoke ⁷ "Is it not to divide your bread with the hungry and bring the homeless poor into the house? When you see the naked, should you cover him and not hide yourself from your own flesh?

¹⁰ and if you give yourself to the hungry and satisfy the desire of the afflicted, then your light will rise in darkness and your gloom will be like midday. ¹¹ the LORD will continually guide you. He will satisfy your desire in scorched places and give strength to your bones. You will be like a watered garden and like a spring of water whose waters do not fail. ¹² Those among you will rebuild the ancient ruins. You will raise up the age-old foundations. You will be called the repairer of the breach, the restorer of the streets in which to dwell.

⁷ '"if a man does not oppress anyone, but restores to the debtor his pledge, does not commit robbery, but gives his bread to the hungry and covers the naked with clothing.

²¹ But if a wicked man turns from all his sins that he has committed and keeps all my statutes and does what is lawful and right, he will surely live. He will not die. ²² None of his transgressions that he has committed will be remembered against him. In his righteousness that he has done he will live.

²⁷ Again, when a wicked man turns away from his wickedness that he has committed and does what is lawful and right, he will save his soul alive. ²⁸ Because he considers and turns away from all his transgressions that he has committed, he will surely live. He will not die. ²⁹ But the house of Israel says, The way of the Lord is not fair. Are My ways not fair, O house of Israel? Is it not your ways that are not fair? ³⁰ Therefore I will judge you, O house of Israel, each one according to his ways, says the Sovereign LORD. Return and turn yourselves from all your transgressions, so iniquity will not be your ruin. ³¹ Cast away from you all your sins by which you have sinned; and make you a new heart and a new spirit; for why will you die, O house of Israel? ³² For I have no pleasure in the death of the dying," declares the Sovereign LORD. "And so repent and live!"

¹⁴ Who knoweth, he may turn and grieve,—and leave behind him, a blessing, a meal-offering and a drink-offering, to the LORD your God?

⁹ Who knows? God may relent and change his mind and turn from his blazing anger so that we will not perish."

² before the appointed time when the day passes as the chaff, before the fierce anger of the LORD comes on you, before the day of the LORD's anger comes on you. ³ seek the LORD, all you humble people of the land, who do what he commands. Seek righteousness! Seek humility! Maybe you will be protected in the day of the LORD's anger."

⁸ Produce fruit worthy of repentance.

⁴¹ So give what is inside to the poor, and then everything will be clean for you.

²² Repent, therefore, of your wickedness, and pray to the Lord. Perhaps He will forgive you for the intent of your heart.

² He and all his household were devout and God-fearing. He gave generously to the people and prayed to God regularly. ³ One day about three in the afternoon he had a vision and clearly saw an angel of God coming to him and saying to him, "Cornelius!" ⁴ Cornelius stared at him in fear and asked, “What is it, Lord?” The angel answered, “Your prayers and gifts to the poor have ascended as a memorial offering before God.

²⁵ And as he reasoned about righteousness, self control and the judgment to come, Felix was afraid, and answered: Go away for now. When I have a convenient time I will call for you.

²⁰ but to those in Damascus first, and in Jerusalem and all the region of Judea and to the Gentiles, I proclaimed that they should repent and turn to God, doing deeds worthy of repentance.

¹¹ Therefore, since we know what it means to fear the Lord, we try to persuade men. What we are is clear to God, and I hope it is clear to your conscience as well.

⁶ For in Christ Jesus, neither circumcision nor uncircumcision has any value. All that matters is faith, expressed through love.

¹³ For you, brothers, were called to freedom; but do not use your freedom as an opportunity for the flesh. Rather, serve one another in love.

²² But the fruit of the Spirit is love, joy, peace, patience, kindness, goodness, faithfulness,

²⁸ He who has been stealing must steal no longer, but must work, doing good with his own hands, that he may have something to share with the one in need.

⁸ Draw near to God, and he will draw near to you. Cleanse your hands, you sinners; and purify your hearts, you double minded. ⁹ Grieve, mourn, and weep. Turn your laughter to mourning, and your joy to gloom. ¹⁰ Humble yourselves before the Lord, and he will raise you up.

⁸ Above all, love one another deeply, because love covers over a multitude of sins.

¹⁹ God is not a man, that he should lie, nor a son of humankind, that he should change his mind. Has he said, and will he not do it? And has he spoken, and will he not fulfill it?

²⁴ What the wicked fear, will overtake them, but the desire of the righteous will be granted.

⁶ However, did not my words and my regulations which I commanded my servants the prophets overtake your ancestors? And they repented and said, 'the LORD of hosts planned to do with us according to our ways, and according to our deeds so he has dealt with us.'" '"

³⁵ Heaven and earth will pass away, but my words will never pass away.

³ And the LORD said, My Spirit shall not always plead with Man; for he indeed is flesh; but his days shall be a hundred and twenty years.

¹¹ Whenever a sentence for a crime is not carried out swiftly, the human mind becomes determined to commit evil.

²⁰ who disobeyed long ago when God waited patiently in the days of Noah, while the ark was being built. In the ark a few people, only eight souls, were saved through water.

⁹ The Lord is not slow to fulfill His promise as some understand slowness, but is patient with you, not wanting anyone to perish, but everyone to come to repentance. ¹⁰ But the day of the Lord will come like a thief. The heavens will disappear with a roar, the elements will be dissolved in the fire, and the earth and its works will not be found.

¹⁵ Consider also that our Lord’s patience brings salvation, just as our beloved brother Paul also wrote you with the wisdom God gave him.

²¹ Even though I have given her time to repent of her immorality, she is unwilling.

¹⁰ The first centers of his kingdom were Babylon, Erech, Accad, and Calneh, in Shinar.

² As men moved eastward, they found a plain in Shinar (Babylon) and settled there. ³ They said to each other: "Let us make bricks and bake them thoroughly." They used brick instead of stone, and tar for mortar. ⁴ Then they said: "Let us build ourselves a city, with a lofty tower that reaches into space, so that we may make a name for ourselves and not be scattered over the face of the whole earth." ⁵ But the LORD came down to see the city and the tower that the men were building. ⁶ the LORD said: "If they become one people speaking the same language, nothing will be impossible for them. They have begun to do this. ⁷ "Let us go down and confuse their language so they will not understand each other." ⁸ the LORD scattered them from there over all the earth. They stopped building the city. ⁹ Therefore its name was called Babel, for there the LORD confused the language of the whole earth, and there the LORD scattered them over the face of the whole earth.

¹² Wealth and honour come from you, and you are ruler over all, and in your hand is power and strength; it is in your power to make great, and to give strength to all. ¹³ "Now, our God, we give you thanks, and we praise your glorious name. ¹⁴ But who am I, and what is my people, that we should be able to offer so willingly as this? For all things come from you, and we have given you of your own.

⁵ “The house which I am building will be great; for our God is greater than all gods. ⁶ But who is able to build him a house, seeing the heaven and the heaven of heavens cannot contain him? who am I then, that I should build him a house, except only to burn sacrifices before him?

⁴ And after this, after he had shewn to them the wealth of his kingdom, and the abundant glory of his wealth during a hundred and eighty days,

²⁰ A man who has riches without understanding, is like the animals that perish.

⁸ They scoff and speak with malice; in arrogance, they threaten oppression.

¹ Praise the LORD, O my soul. O LORD my God, you are very great. You are clothed with honor and majesty,

⁵ I will speak of the glorious honor of Your majesty, and of Your wonderful works. ⁶ And they will speak of the power of your awesome deeds, and I will tell of your greatness. ⁷ They will utter the memory of your great goodness, and will sing of your righteousness. ⁸ the LORD is gracious and compassionate, slow to anger and great in loyal love. ⁹ the LORD is good to all, And His compassions are over all His works." ¹⁰ All your works will give thanks to you, the LORD. Your saints will extol you. ¹¹ They shall speak of the glory of Your kingdom, and talk of Your might; ¹² To make known to the children of men his mighty acts, and the glorious splendour of his kingdom.

¹⁸ Pride goes before destruction, and a haughty spirit before a fall.

⁸ For he says, Are not my commanders all like kings? ⁹ Is not, Calno, like Carchemish? Is not, Hamath, like Arpad? Is not, Samaria, like Damascus? ¹⁰ As my hand has found the kingdoms of the idols, whose graven images excelled those of Jerusalem and of Samaria, ¹¹ shall I not do to Jerusalem and her idols as I have done to Samaria and her idols? ¹² And this shall happen: when the Lord has finished all his work against Mount Zion and Jerusalem, "I will punish the arrogance of the king of Assyria and his haughtiness." ¹³ For he has said, “By the strength of my hand I have done it, and by my wisdom; for I have understanding. I have removed the boundaries of the peoples, and have robbed their treasures. Like a valiant man I have brought down their rulers. ¹⁴ and my hand found, as a nest, the valuables of the people: and as one gathers abandoned eggs, I gathered all the earth; and no one flapped the wing or gaped the mouth or chirped. ¹⁵ Shall the axe boast itself against him who hews with it? Shall the saw magnify itself against him who wields it? As if a rod should wield those who lift it up, [or] as if a staff should lift up [him who is] not wood.

²⁴ "By your messengers you have heaped insults on the LORD. You said: With my many chariots I have ascended the heights of the mountains, the utmost heights of Lebanon. I cut down its tallest cedars, the choicest of its pines. I reach its remotest heights, the finest of its forests. ²⁵ "I dug wells and drank the water there. With the bottom of my feet I dried up all the streams of Egypt.

¹⁸ O king, the Most High God gave your father Nebuchadnezzar a kingdom, and majesty, and glory, and honor. ¹⁹ Because of the greatness that he gave him, all the peoples, nations, and languages trembled and feared before him. He killed whom he wanted to, and he kept alive whom he wanted to. He raised up whom he wanted to, and he put down whom he wanted to. ²⁰ But when his heart was lifted up, and his mind hardened in pride, he was deposed from his kingly throne, and they took his glory from him:

¹⁵ He takes up all of them with the hook; he catches them in his net, and gathers them in his dragnet. Therefore he rejoices and is glad. ¹⁶ Therefore he sacrifices to his net, and burns incense to his dragnet, because by them his life is luxurious, and his food is good.

⁴ Behold, his soul is puffed up. It is not upright in him, but the righteous will live by his faith. ⁵ Yes, moreover, wine is treacherous: an arrogant man who doesn’t stay at home, who enlarges his desire as Sheol; he is like death, and can’t be satisfied, but gathers to himself all nations, and heaps to himself all peoples.

¹¹ For everyone who exalts himself will be humbled, and he who humbles himself will be exalted."

³¹ So whether you eat or drink or whatever you do, do it all to the glory of God.

⁵ Young men, in the same way, submit yourselves to your elders. And all of you, clothe yourselves with humility toward one another, because, “God opposes the proud, but gives grace to the humble.”

¹⁹ The great city was split into three parts, and the cities of the nations collapsed. And God remembered Babylon the great and gave her the cup of the wine of the fury of His wrath.

⁵ And on her forehead a name was written, "MYSTERY, BABYLON THE GREAT, THE MOTHER OF THE PROSTITUTES AND OF THE ABOMINATIONS OF THE EARTH."

¹⁰ for fear of her torture they will stand far off, crying, 'Woe and alas, thou great city! thou strong city of Babylon! In one brief hour thy doom has come.'

²¹ Then a mighty angel picked up a stone the size of a great millstone and cast it into the sea, saying: “With such violence the great city of Babylon will be cast down, never to be seen again.

²⁴ The nations will walk by its light; the kings of the earth will bring their splendor into it. ²⁵ And its gates will not be shut by day; for there will be no night there; ²⁶ and the glory and honor of the nations shall be brought into it.

⁹ The enemy said, I will pursue, I will overtake, I will divide the spoil; my soul shall be filled with them; I will draw my sword; my hand will destroy them. ¹⁰ You blew with your breath, and the sea covered them; they sank like lead in the mighty waters.

¹⁴ But now your kingdom shall not stand. the LORD has sought Him a man after His own heart, and the LORD has appointed him to be leader over His people, because you have not kept what the LORD commanded you.

²³ For rebellion is like the sin of divination; arrogance is like iniquity and idolatry. Because you have rejected the word of the LORD, he has rejected you from being king!"

²³ "With his belly full, God will vent his burning anger against him and rain down his blows upon him.

³⁴ "At the end of the days I, Nebuchadnezzar, lifted up my eyes to heaven and my understanding returned to me. I blessed the Most High and I praised and honored the one who lives forever. His dominion is an everlasting dominion, and his kingdom from generation to generation.

²⁸ Peres; your kingdom is divided, and given to the Medes and Persians.

¹⁷ and lo! a voice from heaven said,"This is my son, the Beloved, in whom I am well pleased."

²⁰ But God said to him, 'You fool! This very night your soul will be demanded of you. Then who will have all you have prepared?'

²⁸ Father, glorify your name." Then a voice came from heaven, "I have glorified it, and I will glorify it again."

³ As Saul drew near to Damascus on his journey, suddenly a light from heaven flashed around him. ⁴ He fell to the ground and heard a voice say to him, “Saul, Saul, why do you persecute Me?” ⁵ “Who are You, Lord?” Saul asked. “I am Jesus, whom you are persecuting,” He replied.

²² The people kept shouting, "This is the voice of a god, not of a man!" ²³ Immediately, because Herod did not give glory to God, an angel of the Lord struck him down, and he was eaten by worms and died.

³ While people are saying, “Peace and security,” destruction will come upon them suddenly, like labor pains on a pregnant woman, and they will not escape.

⁷ And I heard the altar saying, "Yes, O Lord God, the Almighty, true and just are your judgments."

¹⁰ Pharaoh said, "Tomorrow." Moses said, "It will be just as you say, so that you may know that there is no one like the LORD our God.

¹⁴ For this time I will send all my plagues against your heart, against your officials, and against your people; that you may know that there is no one like me in all the earth.

²⁹ And Moses said to him, When I go out of the city, I will spread out my hands to the LORD: the thunder will cease, and there will be no more hail; that thou mayest know that the earth is the LORD`s.

²⁴ so that all the people of the earth might know the hand of the LORD is mighty, and so that you might fear the LORD your God forever.

¹⁸ "He takes off the bonds put on by kings and ties a belt around their waist. ¹⁹ "He leads priests away stripped and overthrows men long established. ²⁰ "He silences the lips of trusted advisers and takes away the discernment of elders. ²¹ "He pours out contempt upon nobles and disarms the mighty.

⁵ they are driven from the midst; they shouted against them as a thief; ⁶ They dwelt in the clifts of the valleys, in caves of the earth, and in the rocks. ⁷ They bray among the bushes; they huddle together under the nettles;

¹⁵ By me kings reign, and rulers make just decrees; ¹⁶ by me princes rule, and nobles, all the judges of the earth.

²⁰ "Now, O LORD our God, deliver us from his hand. That way all kingdoms on earth may know that you alone, O LORD, are God.

³ And I will give you the treasures of darkness, even treasures in secret places, that you may know that I am the LORD, who calls you by your name, the God of Israel.

¹⁴ He cried aloud and so he said: "Cut down the tree and chop off its branches; shake off its foliage and scatter its fruit. Let the animals flee from under it, and the birds from its branches. ¹⁵ But leave the stump of its roots in the earth, even with a fetter of iron and bronze, in the grass of the field. And let it be wet with the dew of the heavens, and his portion be with the animals in the grass of the earth. ¹⁶ Let his mind be changed from that of a man, and let him be given the mind of an animal until seven seasons of time pass by for him. ¹⁷ This order is announced by the observers, and the holy ones declare the verdict, so that the living may know that the Most High is sovereign over human kingdoms and grants them to whomever he desires, and he places the least important of men over them.'

⁵ "The success of the wicked is brief and the joy of the godless lasts but a moment.

¹⁴ "It will break like pottery. It will be smashed. Nothing will be left of it. No piece will be big enough to carry live coals from a fireplace or to dip water from a reservoir."

³² You're to be driven away from people. You're to live with the wild animals of the field. You shall be made to eat grass like cattle, and seven years will pass you by until you realize that the Most High is sovereign over human kingdoms and grants them to whomever he desires.'

² for you yourselves know very well that the Day of the Lord will come like a thief in the night.

²¹ And he said, Naked I came out of my mother's womb and naked I will return there. the LORD gave and the LORD has taken away, praise the name of the LORD.

⁶ For to us a child is born. To us a son is given; and the government will be on his shoulders. His name will be called Wonderful Counselor, Mighty God, Everlasting Father, Prince of Peace. ⁷ Of the increase of his government and peace there will be no end. He will reign on David's throne and over his kingdom. He will establish and uphold it with justice and righteousness from that time on and forever. The zeal of the LORD Almighty will accomplish this.

¹⁵ Therefore in the east give glory to the LORD. Exalt the name of the LORD the God of Israel, in the islands of the sea.

¹⁹ Remember my affliction and my misery, the wormwood and the gall. ²⁰ My soul still remembers them, and is bowed down within me. ²¹ But this I call to my mind; therefore I have hope: ²² ( η - [Cheth.]) Because of the LORD's gracious love we are not consumed, since his compassions never end. ²³ They are new every morning; great is your faithfulness.

³⁸ Is it not from the mouth of the Most High that disaster and good will come?

³ How great are his signs! How mighty are his wonders! His kingdom is an everlasting kingdom. His dominion is from generation to generation.

²⁶ And in that they said to leave alone the stump of the tree's root, so your kingdom will be restored for you when you acknowledge that heaven is sovereign.

²⁶ "I hereby decree that in every area of my kingdom men are to fear and tremble before the God of Daniel. For he is the living God, who endures forever. His kingdom is one that will not be destroyed, and his dominion continues forever.

² and said, "I called from my distress to the LORD, and he answered me; from the belly of Sheol I cried for help— you heard my voice. ³ For You cast me into the deep, into the heart of the seas, and the current surrounded me; all Your breakers and Your waves passed over me. ⁴ I said, 'I have been banished from your sight; yet I will look again toward your holy temple.'

⁷ "I will make the lame a remnant and the outcast far off a strong nation. the LORD will reign over them in mount Zion from now on and forever.

³³ and He will reign over the house of Jacob forever. His kingdom will never end!”

¹⁸ And Samuel told him everything, and hid nothing from him. And he said, It is the LORD: let him do what seems to him good.

⁴ He is wise in heart and mighty in strength; who has resisted him and succeeded?

¹² Look, he snatches away. Who can hinder him? Who will ask him, 'What are you doing?' ¹³ God will not withdraw His anger. The cohorts of Rahab stoop under Him.

¹³ "But he is One who can change him? He does whatever he wants to do.

¹² "But I tell you, Job, in this you are not right, for God is greater than man. ¹³ "Why do you complain to him that he answers none of man's words?

¹⁴ If he set his heart on man, if he gather to himself his spirit and his breath; ¹⁵ All flesh would expire together, and man would return to the dust.

¹⁹ who does not respect the persons of rulers, nor regards the rich more than the poor. For they all are the work of his hands. ²⁰ In a moment will they die, and in the midst of the night; people are moved, and pass away: and the mighty will be removed without a human hand. ²¹ For His eyes are on the ways of man, and He sees all his steps. ²² There is no darkness or deep shadow where troublemakers can hide. ²³ For he doesn't need to consider a man further, that he should go before God in judgment. ²⁴ He shatters the mighty without investigation, and he sets others in their place.

²⁹ "If he is remains silent, who will condemn him? If he conceals his face, who can see him? He watches over both nation and individual alike,

² Shall he that contends with the Almighty instruct him? Let him that disputes with God answer this.

⁹ "Do you have an arm (power) like God's? Can your voice thunder like his? ¹⁰ "Then adorn yourself with glory and splendor. Clothe yourself in honor and majesty.

² "I know that you can do all things and no plan of yours can be thwarted.

⁸ Let all the earth fear the LORD; let all the people of the world stand in awe of Him. ⁹ For he spoke, and it was done. He commanded, and it stood firm. ¹⁰ the LORD nullifies the counsel of the nations. He frustrates the plans of the peoples. ¹¹ The counsel of the LORD stands fast forever, the thoughts of his heart to all generations.

³ Our God is in heaven. He does whatever he pleases.

⁶ The LORD does whatever pleases him in heaven and on earth, in the seas and all its deep regions.

³⁰ There is no wisdom nor understanding nor counsel against the LORD.

⁹ I yearn for you in the night. In the morning I long for you with all my being. When your judgments come upon the earth, the people of the world learn righteousness.

¹⁵ Truly the nations are like a drop in a bucket! They are regarded as dust on the scales! He weighs the islands as though they were fine dust. ¹⁶ Lebanon is not sufficient for altar fires, nor its animals enough for burnt offerings. ¹⁷ Before him all the nations are as nothing! He regards them as worthless and less than nothing.

²² He sits enthroned above the circle of the earth, and its people are like grasshoppers. He stretches out the heavens like a canopy, and spreads them out like a tent to live in. ²³ He brings princes to nothing and reduces the rulers of this world to nothing. ²⁴ No sooner are they planted, no sooner are they sown, no sooner do they take root in the ground, than he blows on them and they wither, and a whirlwind sweeps them away like chaff.

¹³ Yea, from this day I am He, and no one delivers from My hand. I will work, and who will reverse it?

⁹ Woe to him who fights with the One who formed him! A potsherd among the potsherds of the earth! Shall the clay say to its former, What are you making? Or does your work say, He has no hands? ¹⁰ Woe unto him that says unto his father, What do you beget? or to the woman, What have you brought forth? ¹¹ Thus says the LORD, the holy one of Israel, and its maker: "Ask me of the things to come about my children, and you command me about the work of my hands.

²⁵ At that time Jesus declared, “I praise You, Father, Lord of heaven and earth, because You have hidden these things from the wise and learned, and revealed them to little children. ²⁶ Yes, Father, for this was your good pleasure.

²⁸ They carried out what Your hand and purpose had decided beforehand would happen.

³⁹ But if it is from God, you will not be able to stop them. You may even find yourselves fighting against God.”

⁵ “Who are You, Lord?” Saul asked. “I am Jesus, whom you are persecuting,” He replied.

¹⁷ So if God gave them the same gift as he gave us, who believed in the Lord Jesus Christ, who was I that I could oppose God?"

¹⁹ One of you will say to me, “Then why does God still find fault? For who can resist His will?” ²⁰ But who are you, O man, to talk back to God? Shall what is formed say to Him who formed it, “Why have you made me like this?”

³³ O the depth of the riches both of the wisdom and knowledge of God! how unsearchable his judgments, and his ways past finding out! ³⁴ Who has known the mind of the Lord? Or who has been his counsellor? ³⁵ “Who has given so much to God, that God should repay him?” ³⁶ For from him, and through him, and to him are all things. To him be the glory for ever! Amen.

¹⁶ For who has known the mind of the Lord, that he may instruct him? But we have the mind of Christ.

²² Are we trying to provoke the Lord to jealousy? Are we stronger than he?

¹¹ In Him we were also chosen as God’s own, having been predestined according to the plan of Him who works out everything by the counsel of His will,

¹⁰ that at the name of Jesus every knee should bow, in heaven and on earth and under the earth, ¹¹ and every tongue confess that Jesus Christ is Lord, to the glory of God the Father.

³⁰ Therefore the LORD the God of Israel says, 'I said indeed that your house, and the house of your father, should walk before Me forever'. But now the LORD says, 'Far be it from Me. Those who honour Me I will honour, and those who despise Me shall be despised.

¹² But, in his distress, he appeased the face of the LORD his God,—and humbled himself greatly, before the God of his fathers; ¹³ And prayed unto him: and he received his entreaty, and heard his supplication, and brought him again to Jerusalem into his kingdom. Then Manasseh knew that the LORD was God.

¹² Your maxims are proverbs of ashes; your defenses are defenses of clay.

⁴ By humility and the fear of the LORD are riches, and honor, and life.

³³ But seek first his kingdom and his righteousness, and all these things shall be given to you as well.

¹⁷ For our light and temporary affliction is producing for us an eternal glory that far outweighs our troubles.

¹¹ Now I know that the LORD is greater than all gods because of the way that they treated people arrogantly.”

⁴ The Rock: his work is perfect, for all his ways are just. A God of faithfulness who does no wrong, just and right is he.

³ Don't continue to talk proudly, and don't speak arrogantly, for the LORD is a God of knowledge, and by him actions are weighed.

¹¹ So the LORD made the army commanders of the king of Assyria invade Judah. They took Manasseh captive, put a hook in his nose, put him in bronze shackles, and brought him to Babylon. ¹² But, in his distress, he appeased the face of the LORD his God,—and humbled himself greatly, before the God of his fathers;

¹⁹ And his prayer, and how he responded to him, all his sin and his unfaithful acts, and the places where he built the high places and set up Asherahs and idols before he humbled himself, behold, they are written in the words of the seers.

⁴ For the word of the LORD is right, and all his work is in faithfulness. ⁵ He loves righteousness and justice. The earth is full of the LORD's loving-kindness.

⁴ The King's strength also loves justice. You do establish equity. You execute justice and righteousness in Jacob.

⁷⁵ I know, O LORD, that your judgments are righteous, and that in faithfulness you have afflicted me.

¹⁷ The LORD is righteous in all his ways, and faithful in all his deeds. ¹⁸ the LORD is near to all who call on him, to all who call on him in truth.

¹⁶ But the LORD Almighty is exalted by justice, and the holy God shows himself holy by righteousness.

⁵⁶ For your mouth reports not your sister Sedom in the day of your pomp

⁶³ '"I will forgive all the wrongs you have done, but you will remember them and be too ashamed to open your mouth.' The Sovereign LORD has spoken."

³⁰ The king spoke: "Is this not great Babylon, which I have built for the royal dwelling-place, by the might of my power and for the glory of my majesty?" ³¹ The word was still in the king's voice when a voice fell from the heaven, saying, O king Nebuchadnezzar, to you it is declared: The kingdom has been taken from you!

He lived with wild donkeys, ate grass like cattle, and his body was soaked with dew from the sky until he realized that the Most High God is sovereign over human kingdoms and places over them whomever he desires. ²² And you his son, O Belshazzar, have not humbled your heart, though you knew all this. ²³ You've exalted yourself against the Lord of heaven. You've had the vessels from his temple brought into your presence. And you, your officials, and your wives and mistresses drank wine from them. You praised gods of silver, gold, bronze, iron, wood, and stone, which can't see, hear, or demonstrate knowledge. But you didn't honor God, who holds in his power your very life and all your ways. ²⁴ Therefore, the hand that wrote this inscription was sent from his presence.

²⁵ At that time Jesus declared, “I praise You, Father, Lord of heaven and earth, because You have hidden these things from the wise and learned, and revealed them to little children.

²⁴ The God who made the world and everything in it is the Lord of heaven and earth and does not live in temples made by human hands.

⁶ But He gives us more grace. This is why it says: “God opposes the proud, but gives grace to the humble.” ⁷ Submit yourselves, then, to God. Resist the devil, and he will flee from you.

⁹ But you are a chosen race, a royal priesthood, a holy nation, a people belonging to God; that you should declare the praises of him who has called you out of darkness into his marvellous light. ¹⁰ Once you were not a people, but now you are the people of God; once you had not received mercy, but now you have received mercy.

³ and they sang the song of Moses, the servant of God, and the song of the Lamb, saying, "Great and marvelous are your deeds, O Lord God the Almighty! Just and true are your ways, O King of the ages!

¹ After this I heard a sound like the roar of a great multitude in heaven, shouting: “Hallelujah! Salvation and glory and power belong to our God! ² for true and just are his judgments. He has judged the great prostitute who was corrupting the earth with her lewdness and he has avenged on her the blood of his servants."
