¹¹ '"Then set it empty on its coals so that it may be hot and its copper may glow and its filthiness may be melted in it. Let its rust be consumed.

²⁵ And I will turn my hand upon you, and thoroughly purge away your dross, and take away all your tin:

⁴ when the Lord has washed away the filth of the daughters of Zion and cleansed the blood of Jerusalem from her midst by a spirit of judgment and by a spirit of burning.

⁹ By this Jacob's guilt will be atoned for, and this will be the full fruitage of the removal of his sin. When he makes all the altar stones to be like chalk stones crushed to pieces, no Asherah poles or incense altars will be left standing.

¹⁰ For I have set my face against this city for evil and not for good," declares the LORD. It will be given into the hand of the king of Babylon, and he will burn it with fire." '

²⁹ 'The Babylonians who are attacking this city will break in, set this city on fire, and burn it down. They will burn down the houses of people who made me furious by going up to the roofs to burn incense to Baal and to pour out wine offerings to other gods.'

¹⁰ "Even if you would defeat the entire Babylonian army so that they had only a few badly wounded men left in their tents, they would get up and burn down this city!"’"

¹⁸ But if you don't surrender to the officers of the king of Babylon, then this city will be given to the Chaldeans, and they'll burn it with fire. You won't escape from their hands.'"

⁸ The Babylonians burned down the royal palace and the houses of the people and tore down the walls of Jerusalem.

¹³ He burned down the LORD’s Temple, the royal palace, and all the houses in Jerusalem. Every important building was burned down.

³⁸ I will purge out from among you the rebels and those who disobey me. I will bring them out of the land where they live, but they shall not enter into the land of Israel. Then you will know that I am the LORD.”

¹⁵ And I will disperse thee in the nations, and will scatter thee among the countries, and I will put an end to thy uncleanness in thee. ¹⁶ And you will be profaned in you in the eyes of the nations. And you shall know that I am the LORD. ¹⁷ And the word of the LORD came to me, saying, ¹⁸ "Son of man, the house of Israel has become dross to me. All of them are the copper, tin, iron and lead in the furnace. They are the dross of silver. ¹⁹ Therefore thus says the Sovereign LORD: Because you have all become dross, therefore, behold, I will gather you into the midst of Jerusalem. ²⁰ As they gather silver, bronze, iron, lead, and tin into the middle of the furnace, to blow the fire on it, to melt it; so I will gather you in my anger and in my wrath, and I will lay you there, and melt you. ²¹ Yes, I will gather you, and blow on you with the fire of my wrath, and you shall be melted in its midst. ²² '"As silver is melted in the furnace, you will be melted in the midst of her. You will know that I, the LORD, have poured out my wrath on you."' ²³ And the word of the LORD came to me, saying,

²⁶ They will also strip you of your clothes and take away your fair jewels. ²⁷ Thus I will make your lewdness to cease from you and your prostitution from the land of Egypt, so that you will not lift up your eyes to them, nor remember Egypt any more.

⁴⁷ these shall stone them and gore them with their swords. They shall slay their sons and daughters and burn up their houses with fire. ⁴⁸ And I will put an end to evil in all the land, teaching all women not to do as you have done.

²⁵ I will sprinkle clean water on you, and you will be clean. I will cleanse you from all your filthiness, and from all your idols.

¹¹ I will cut off the cities of your land, and will tear down all your strongholds. ¹² I will render your witchcraft powerless, and mediums will no longer exist among you. ¹³ "I will remove your graven images and your sacred pillars from you. You will no longer worship the work of your hands. ¹⁴ I will uproot your Asherim out of your midst; and I will destroy your cities.

¹ " 'On that day a well will be opened for the house of David and for the inhabitants of Jerusalem, to cleanse them from sin and from impurity. ² And it shall be in that day, I will cut off the names of the idols out of the land, and they shall be remembered no more, says the LORD of hosts. And I also will cause the prophets and the unclean spirit to pass out of the land.

⁸ And then in all the land," declares the LORD, "two thirds will be cut off and perish, and one third will be left alive in it. ⁹ And I will bring the remaining third into the fire, and I will refine them like one refines silver, and I will test them like one tests gold. They will call my name, and I will answer them. I will say, 'They are my people,' and they will say, 'the LORD is my God.'"

¹ "For look! The day is about to come, burning like an oven, and all the arrogant and every evildoer will be stubble. The coming day will consume them," says the LORD of hosts. "It will not leave behind for them root or branch.

¹² His winnowing fork is in his hand, and he will clear his threshing floor and gather his wheat into the barn, but the chaff he will burn up with unquenchable fire."

¹² If anyone builds on this foundation using gold, silver, precious stones, wood, hay, or straw, ¹³ his workmanship will be evident, because the Day will bring it to light. It will be revealed with fire, and the fire will prove the quality of each man’s work.
