⁶ For these two years the famine has been in the land, and there are yet five years, in which there will be no plowing and no harvest.

²⁹ Behold, seven years of great abundance are coming throughout the whole land of Egypt. ³⁰ And seven years of famine will arise after them and all the plenty of the land of Egypt will be forgotten; and the famine will consume the land. ³¹ Abundance in the land will not be known because of the famine that follows, for it will be very heavy.

⁵⁴ And the seven years of famine began to come as Joseph had said. And there was famine in all of the countries, but in the land of Egypt there was food.

⁵⁶ And the famine was over the whole land, and Joseph opened all the storehouses and sold food to the Egyptians. And the famine was severe in the land of Egypt.

¹⁸ When that year ended, they came to him in the following year and said to him, "We cannot hide from my lord that our money and livestock belong to my lord. Nothing remains before my lord except our bodies and our land.

²³ And Joseph said to the people, "Look, I have bought you and your land this day for Pharaoh. Here is seed for you so you can sow the land.

²¹ "For six days you shall work, but on the seventh day you shall rest; even during plowing time and harvest you shall rest.

⁴ "The elders of that city will bring the heifer down to a river, to a location where the land has not been plowed or planted. At the river they must break the heifer's neck.

¹² He will appoint for himself commanders of thousands and commanders of fifties, and those to do his plowing and to reap his harvest, and those to make weapons of war and the equipment for his chariots.

²⁴ The cattle and the donkeys that work the soil will eat a mixture of food that has been winnowed with forks and shovels.
