¹ "Woe to the shepherds who are destroying and scattering the sheep of my pasture!" Says the LORD. ² Therefore thus says the LORD, the God of Israel, against the shepherds who feed my people: "You have scattered my flock, and driven them away, and have not visited them; look, I will visit on you the evil of your doings," says the LORD. ³ "I'll gather the remnant of my flock from all the countries where I've driven them, and bring them back to their pasture where they'll be fruitful and increase in numbers. ⁴ I will set up shepherds over them, who will feed them. They will no longer be afraid or dismayed, neither will any be lacking,” says the LORD. ⁵ "The days are coming," declares the LORD, "when I will raise up for David a righteous Branch. He will reign as king and act wisely and do justice and righteousness in the land. ⁶ In his days Judah will be saved, and Israel will dwell safely. This is his name by which he will be called: the LORD our righteousness. ⁷ "Therefore, the time is coming," declares the LORD, "when people will no longer say, 'As surely as the LORD lives who brought up the Israelites from the land of Egypt,' ⁸ but they'll say, 'As surely as the LORD lives who brought the descendants of the Israelites from the land of the north and from all the lands where I had driven them and brought them into the land.' Then they'll live in their own land." ⁹ Concerning the prophets: My heart is broken within me, and all my bones shake. I'm like a drunk man, like a person overcome with wine, because of the LORD, and because of his holy words. ¹⁰ For the land is full of adulterers; for because of the curse the land mourns. The pastures of the wilderness have dried up. Their course is evil, and their might is not right; ¹¹ "For both prophet as well as priest are godless, even in my temple I have found their wickedness," declares the LORD. ¹² Therefore their way will be slippery. They'll be driven out into the darkness, where they'll fall. For I'll bring disaster on them, the year of their judgment," declares the LORD. ¹³ "Among the prophets of Samaria I saw a disgusting thing, for they prophesied by Baal and led my people Israel astray. ¹⁴ In the prophets of Jerusalem I have also seen a horrible thing: they commit adultery and walk in lies. They strengthen the hands of evildoers, so that no one returns from his wickedness. They have all become to me as Sodom, and its inhabitants as Gomorrah.” ¹⁵ Therefore the LORD of Armies says concerning the prophets: “Behold, I will feed them with wormwood, and make them drink poisoned water; for from the prophets of Jerusalem ungodliness has gone out into all the land.” ¹⁶ This is what the LORD Almighty says: "Do not listen to what the prophets are saying to you. They fill you with false hope. They speak about visions that they dreamed up. These visions are not from the LORD. ¹⁷ They say continually to those who despise me, the LORD has said, You will have peace. And to everyone who walks in the stubbornness of his own heart they say, No evil will come upon you. ¹⁸ For which of them hath stood in the council of the Lord and seen? who hath hearkened and heard his voice?" ¹⁹ The storm of the LORD vents his wrath. A whirling tempest will swirl down on the head of the wicked. ²⁰ The anger of the LORD shall not turn back until He has executed, and until He has set up the purposes of His heart. In latter days you shall understand it perfectly. ²¹ I did not send these prophets, but they ran of themselves; I did not speak to them, yet they prophesied. ²² But if they had stood in my council, then they would have proclaimed my words to my people, and they would have caused them to turn from their evil way, and from the evil of their deeds. ²³ Am I a God near by, says the LORD, and not a God from afar? ²⁴ Can any hide himself in secret places so that I shall not see him? saith the LORD. Do not I fill heaven and earth? saith the LORD. ²⁵ "I have heard what the prophets have said who prophesy falsely in my name. They say: 'I had a dream! I had a dream!" ²⁶ How long shall this be in the heart of the prophets that prophesy lies, and that prophesy the delusions of their own heart? ²⁷ "They think the dreams they tell will make my people forget my name, just as their ancestors forgot my name and turned to Baal worship. ²⁸ Let the prophet who has a dream relate the dream, but let whoever receives my word speak my word truthfully. What does straw have in common with wheat?" declares the LORD. ²⁹ Is not my word like fire? says the LORD and like a hammer that breaks the rock in pieces? ³⁰ Then, the LORD says, Behold, I am against the prophets who steal My words, each one from his neighbor. ³¹ the LORD says, Behold, I am against the prophets who use their tongues and say, He says. ³² Look, I'm against those who prophesy based on false dreams," declares the LORD, "and relate them and lead my people astray with their lies and their recklessness. I didn't send them; I didn't command them, and they provide no benefit at all to these people," declares the LORD. ³³ "Jeremiah, when these people, the prophet, or a priest ask you, 'What is the oracle of the LORD?' say to them, 'You are the burden, and I'll cast you out,'" declares the LORD. ³⁴ "And the prophet, and the priest, and the people who say, 'The burden of the LORD,' I will punish that man and his house. ³⁵ This is what you should say to one another and among yourselves, 'What has the LORD answered?' or 'What has the LORD said?' ³⁶ But you shall not mention the burden of the LORD, for the burden is to each one his word, and so you twist the words of the living God, the LORD Almighty, our God. ³⁷ Thus shall you say to the prophet, What has the LORD answered you? and, What has the LORD spoken? ³⁸ But, since ye keep on saying, The Oracle of the LORD, therefore, Thus saith the LORD, Because ye have said this word, The oracle of the LORD, whereas I had sent unto you saying, Ye shall not say, The oracle of the LORD ³⁹ therefore behold, I will utterly forget you, and I will cast you off, far from my face, and the city that I gave to you and to your fathers. ⁴⁰ and I will bring upon you an everlasting disgrace and an everlasting shame that will not be forgotten."

⁹ Come, all you beasts of the field, come and devour, all you beasts of the forest! ¹⁰ Israel's watchmen are blind. They all lack knowledge they are all mute dogs. They cannot bark. They just lie around and dream, they love to sleep. ¹¹ They are dogs with mighty appetites. They never have enough! They are shepherds who lack understanding. They all turn to their own way and each one seeks dishonest (unjust) gain. ¹² "Come, each one cries, let me get wine! Let us drink our fill of beer! And tomorrow will be like today, or even far better."

⁸ "'The priests did not ask: 'Where is the LORD? Those who deal with my Law did not know me. The rulers rebelled against me. The prophets prophesied in the name of Baal and followed things that could not help (profit) them.'"

²⁶ "As a thief is disgraced when he's caught, so the house of Israel is disgraced, they, their kings, their princes, their priests, and their prophets,

²¹ For the shepherds are become brutish, and have not inquired of the LORD: therefore they have not prospered, and all their flocks are scattered.

¹⁰ Many shepherds will destroy my vineyard. They'll trample down my portion. They'll turn my pleasant portion into a desolate desert.

²² The wind will shepherd all your shepherds, and your lovers will go into exile. Indeed, you will then be ashamed and humiliated because of all your wickedness.

² Therefore thus says the LORD, the God of Israel, against the shepherds who feed my people: "You have scattered my flock, and driven them away, and have not visited them; look, I will visit on you the evil of your doings," says the LORD.

³⁴ »Mourn, you shepherds, and cry. Roll in the dust, you leaders of the flock. The time has come for you to be slaughtered. The time has come for you to be scattered, and you will break like fine pottery. ³⁵ The shepherds will have no way to flee. The leader of the flock will have no escape. ³⁶ Hark! the cry of the shepherds, and the wailing of the leaders of the flock! For the LORD despoileth their pasture.

⁶ My people have been lost sheep; their shepherds thrust them out, they caused them to wander on the mountains; they went from mountain to hill, they forgot their resting place.

³ The Sovereign LORD says, “Woe to the foolish prophets, who follow their own spirit, and have seen nothing!

²⁵ There is a conspiracy of her prophets within it, like a roaring lion ravening the prey. They have devoured souls. They take treasure and precious things. They have made many widows within it. ²⁶ her priests do violence to my law, and profane my holy things: they put no difference between the holy and profane, neither do they make known [the difference] between the unclean and the clean, and they hide their eyes from my sabbaths, and I am profaned among them. ²⁷ Her rulers in her midst are like wolves tearing the prey, to shed blood and to destroy souls, to get unjust gain. ²⁸ '"Her prophets have smeared whitewash for them. They see false visions and divine lies for them. They say: "This is what the Sovereign LORD says, when the LORD has not spoken." ²⁹ The people in the land useth wicked extortion and robbery. They vex the poor and needy and oppress the stranger against right.

² Son of man, prophesy against the shepherds of Israel. Prophesy and say to them, to the shepherds, So says the Sovereign LORD: Woe to the shepherds of Israel who are feeding themselves! Should not the shepherds feed the flock? ³ You eat the fat and clothe yourselves with the wool; you kill the fat ones, but you do not feed the flock. ⁴ "'"You have not strengthened those that were weak, healed those who were sick, or bandaged those who were injured. You have not brought back those who strayed away or looked for those who were lost. You have ruled them harshly and violently. ⁵ And they were scattered because there was no shepherd; and they became meat to all the beasts of the field, and were scattered. ⁶ "'"My sheep wandered over all the mountains and on every high hill. They were scattered throughout the entire earth. No one searched or looked for them. ⁷ "'"Therefore, you shepherds, hear the word of the LORD: ⁸ '"As I am alive, declares the Sovereign LORD, because there is no shepherd, my sheep have become prey. My sheep have become food for wild animals. My shepherds have not searched for my sheep. They have taken care of only themselves, not my sheep."' ⁹ therefore, O shepherds, hear the word of the LORD, ¹⁰ 'Thus says the Sovereign LORD: "Look! I am against the shepherds, and I will seek my flock from their hand, and I will put an end to them from shepherding flocks, and the shepherds will no longer feed themselves, and I will deliver my flocks from their mouth, so that they will not be as food for them."

²¹ Because you thrust with side and with shoulder, and push all the diseased with your horns, until you have scattered them abroad;

³¹ You my sheep, the sheep of my pasture, are men, and I am your God,' says the Sovereign LORD.”

¹¹ Her leaders judge for bribes, and her priests teach for a price, and her prophets of it tell fortunes for money: yet they lean on the LORD, and say, “Isn’t the LORD among us? No disaster will come on us.” ¹² Therefore, because of you, Zion will be plowed up like a field, and Jerusalem will become heaps of rubble, and the temple Mount like a forest high place."

³ Her officials in her midst are roaring lions; her judges are evening wolves; they leave nothing until the morning. ⁴ Her prophets are vain-glorious, treacherous persons; her priests profane the sanctuary, they do violence to the law.

⁵ Their buyers slaughter them, and go unpunished. Those who sell them say, 'Blessed be the LORD, for I am rich;' and their own shepherds do not pity them. ⁶ For I will have no more pity for the people of the land, says the Lord; but I will give up everyone into his neighbour's hand and into the hand of his king: and they will make the land waste, and I will not keep them safe from their hands. ⁷ So I became shepherd of the flock marked for slaughter, paying attention to the oppressed of the flock. I took two staffs naming one "Pleasant" and the other one "Union" and then I pastured the flock.

¹⁵ And the LORD said to me, "Take again the implements of a foolish shepherd. ¹⁶ for I am now raising up a shepherd in the land who will neither search for the lost, nor care for the young, nor fix the broken, nor sustain the healthy. Instead, he will devour the meat of the best of the sheep, tearing off their hoofs." ¹⁷ "Woe to the worthless shepherd, who deserts the flock! May the sword strike his arm and his right eye. May his arm wither and his right eye be completely blind."

³⁶ When he saw the crowds, he had compassion for them, because they were harassed and helpless, like sheep without a shepherd.

¹⁴ Disregard them! They are blind guides. If a blind man leads a blind man, both will fall into a pit.”

¹³ Woe to you, scribes and Pharisees, you hypocrites! You shut the kingdom of heaven in men’s faces. You yourselves do not enter, nor will you let in those who wish to enter.

¹⁵ Woe to you, scribes and Pharisees, you hypocrites! You traverse land and sea to win a single convert, and when he becomes one, you make him twice as much a son of hell as you are. ¹⁶ Woe to you, blind guides! You say, ‘If anyone swears by the temple, it means nothing; but if anyone swears by the gold of the temple, he is bound by his oath.’ ¹⁷ You blind fools! Which is greater: the gold, or the temple that makes it sacred? ¹⁸ And you say, ‘If anyone swears by the altar, it means nothing; but if anyone swears by the gift on it, he is bound by his oath.’ ¹⁹ You blind men! For which is greater, the gift or the altar that makes the gift sacred? ²⁰ Therefore, he who swears by the altar swears by it and by everything on it. ²¹ And he who swears by the temple swears by it and by the One who dwells in it. ²² And he who swears by heaven swears by God’s throne and by the One who sits on it. ²³ Woe to you, scribes and Pharisees, you hypocrites! You pay tithes of mint, dill, and cumin, but you have disregarded the weightier matters of the Law: justice, mercy, and faithfulness. You should have practiced the latter, without neglecting the former. ²⁴ You blind guides! You strain out a gnat but swallow a camel. ²⁵ Woe to you, scribes and Pharisees, you hypocrites! You clean the outside of the cup and dish, but inside they are full of greed and self-indulgence. ²⁶ Blind Pharisee, first wash clean the inside of the cup or dish, and then the outside will be clean also. ²⁷ Woe to you, scribes and Pharisees, you hypocrites! You are like whitewashed tombs, which look beautiful on the outside, but on the inside are full of dead men’s bones and every impurity. ²⁸ In the same way, on the outside you also appear righteous to people, but inside you are full of hypocrisy and lawlessness. ²⁹ Woe to you, scribes and Pharisees, you hypocrites! You build tombs for the prophets and decorate the monuments of the righteous.

⁴² Woe to you Pharisees! You pay tithes of mint and rue and every herb, but you disregard justice and the love of God. You should have practiced the latter without neglecting the former. ⁴³ Woe to you Pharisees! Because you love the first seat in the synagogues and greetings in the marketplaces. ⁴⁴ A curse on you, because you are like unmarked graves which men walk over without knowing it!" ⁴⁵ One of the experts in the law told Him, “Teacher, when You say these things, You insult us as well.” ⁴⁶ And he said, Woe to you also, lawyers! for you load men with burdens they can hardly carry, and you yourselves will not touch the burdens with one of your fingers. ⁴⁷ Woe to you! You build tombs for the prophets, but it was your fathers who killed them. ⁴⁸ So you witness that you approve of the deeds of your fathers; for they killed them, and you build their tombs. ⁴⁹ Because of this, the Wisdom of God said, ‘I will send them prophets and apostles; some of them they will kill and others they will persecute.’ ⁵⁰ As a result, this generation will be charged with the blood of all the prophets that has been shed since the foundation of the world, ⁵¹ from the blood of Abel to the blood of Zechariah, who was killed between the altar and the sanctuary. Yes, I tell you, all of it will be charged to this generation. ⁵² Woe to you experts in the law! For you have taken away the key to knowledge. You yourselves have not entered, and you have hindered those who were entering.”

¹⁰ The thief comes only to steal and kill and destroy; I have come that they may have life, and have it abundantly.

¹² The hired hand is not the shepherd, and the sheep are not his own. When he sees the wolf coming, he abandons the sheep and runs away. Then the wolf pounces on them and scatters the flock.

³⁴ And now go, lead the people to where I spoke to you. Look, my angel will go before you, and on the day when I punish I will punish them for their sin."

⁹ Shouldn't I punish them for these things?” says the LORD. “Shouldn't my soul be avenged on such a nation as this?

²⁹ 'Should I not punish them for this?,' asks the LORD, 'Should I not avenge myself on a nation like this?'

¹² Were they ashamed when they had done hateful things? They were not even at all ashamed, nor did they know how to blush. So they shall fall among those who fall. In the time of their punishment they will stumble, says the LORD.

²² therefore thus says the LORD of hosts, "Look, I will punish them: the young men shall die by the sword; their sons and their daughters shall die by famine;

²¹ "What will you say when God makes the people you thought were your friends your new masters? Will pain grip you like a woman in labor?

¹² O house of David! Thus, saith the LORD, Administer justice betimes, And deliver the robbed out of the hand of the oppressor,—Lest mine indignation come forth like fire And burn and there be none to quench it, Because of the wickedness of your doings:

³⁴ "And the prophet, and the priest, and the people who say, 'The burden of the LORD,' I will punish that man and his house.

¹³ "I will punish her for the days in which she burned incense to the Baals, when she decked herself with her earrings and her jewels, and went after her lovers, and forgot me," said the LORD.

⁴ The best of them is like a brier. The most upright is worse than a thorn hedge. The day of your watchmen, even your visitation, has come; now is the time of their confusion.

³⁶ I was unclothed and you clothed me, I was ill and you looked after me, I was in prison and you visited me.'

⁴³ I was a stranger and you did not take me in; I was naked and you did not clothe me; I was sick and in prison and you did not visit me.’

²⁷ Pure and undefiled religion before our God and Father is this: to care for orphans and widows in their distress, and to keep oneself from being polluted by the world.

³ then the LORD your God will restore your fortunes and will show compassion to you. He will gather you from among the peoples where he had scattered you. ⁴ Even if the LORD had banished you to the ends of the heavens, the LORD your God will gather you from there ⁵ Yahweh your God will bring you into the land which your fathers possessed, and you will possess it. He will do you good, and increase your numbers more than your fathers.

⁴⁷ Save us, O LORD our God, and gather us from the nations, so that we may give thanks to your holy name and boast in your praise.

¹¹ It will happen in that day that the Lord will set his hand again the second time to recover the remnant that is left of his people from Assyria, from Egypt, from Pathros, from Cush, from Elam, from Shinar, from Hamath, and from the islands of the sea. ¹² And he will erect a standard for the nations, and gather together the outcasts of Israel, and assemble the dispersed of Juda from the four quarters of the earth. ¹³ Then the jealousy of Ephraim will depart. Those who harass Judah will be destroyed. Ephraim will not be jealous of Judah, and Judah will not harass Ephraim. ¹⁴ They will swoop down on the slopes of the Philistines on the west. Together they will plunder the sons of the east. They will possess Edom and Moab, and the sons of Ammon will be subject to them. ¹⁵ the LORD will utterly destroy the tongue of the Egyptian sea; and with his scorching wind he will wave his hand over the River, and will split it into seven streams, and cause men to march over in sandals. ¹⁶ And there shall be a highway for the remnant of His people, those left from Assyria; as it was to Israel in the day that he came up out of the land of Egypt.

¹² In that day the LORD will thresh from the flowing Euphrates River to the Wadi (streambed) of Egypt. You, O Israelites, will be gathered up one by one. ¹³ A great trumpet will sound. Those who were perishing in Assyria and those who were exiled in Egypt will come and worship the LORD on the holy mountain in Jerusalem.

⁵ Don’t be afraid, for I am with you. I will bring your offspring from the east, and gather you from the west. ⁶ I will tell the north, 'Give them up!' and tell the south, 'Don't hold them back! Bring My sons from far, and My daughters from the ends of the earth--

¹⁴ 'I will let you find me, declares the LORD. I will bring you back from captivity. I will gather you from all the nations and places where I have scattered you,' declares the LORD. 'I will bring you back from the place where you are being held captive.'

³ "The days are coming," says the LORD, "when I will bring my people Israel and Judah back from captivity. I will bring them back to the land that I gave their ancestors, and they will take possession of it."’

⁸ Behold! I will bring them from the north country, and gather them from the corners of the earth. Among them the blind, and the lame, the pregnant one, and the travailing one together, a great company shall return here.

³⁷ I'm about to gather my people from all the lands where I've driven them in my anger, wrath, and great indignation. I'll bring them back to this place and let them live in safety.

¹⁷ Therefore say, Thus says the Sovereign LORD: I will gather you from the peoples and assemble you out of the countries where you have been scattered, and I will give you the land of Israel.

¹¹ For so says the Sovereign LORD: Behold, I Myself will search for My sheep and seek them out. ¹² As a shepherd seeks his flock in the day that he is among his scattered sheep, so I will seek out My sheep and will deliver them from all the places where they were scattered in a day of cloud and thick cloud. ¹³ And I will bring them out from the peoples, and I will gather them from the countries, and I will bring them to their soil, and I will feed them on the mountains of Israel, in the valleys, and in all of the settlements of the land. ¹⁴ I will feed them in good pasture. On the lofty mountain of Israel shall be their folds; there they shall lie down and rest there in luxurious ease, and be fed in a rich pasture on the mountains of Israel. ¹⁵ I will feed My sheep, and I will make them lie down, declares the Sovereign LORD. ¹⁶ "I will seek the lost. I will bring back the scattered. I will bind up the broken and strengthen the sick. The fat and the strong I will destroy. I will feed them with judgment." ¹⁷ "'As for you, my sheep, this is what the Sovereign LORD says: "I will judge disputes between one sheep and another, between rams and male goats. ¹⁸ "'Is it not enough for you to feed on the good pasture? Must you trample the rest of the pasture with your feet? You drink clean water. Must you muddy the rest of the water with your feet? ¹⁹ "'Must my sheep eat what your feet have trampled and drink what your feet have muddied?" ²⁰ Therefore thus says the Sovereign LORD to them: Behold, I, even I, will judge between the fat sheep and the lean sheep. ²¹ Because you thrust with side and with shoulder, and push all the diseased with your horns, until you have scattered them abroad; ²² And so I will save my flock, and they will no longer be for plunder, and I will judge between one sheep and another. ²³ "'I will place one shepherd over them, my servant David. He will take care of them. He will take care of them and be their shepherd. ²⁴ I, the LORD, will be their God, and my servant David prince among them;" I, the LORD, have spoken it. ²⁵ And I will make a covenant of peace with them, and will send the evil beasts out of the land. And they shall dwell safely in the wilderness and sleep in the woods. ²⁶ And I will make them a blessing round about my hill: and I will send down the rain in its season, there shall be showers of blessing. ²⁷ The tree of the field will yield its fruit, and the earth will yield its increase, and they will be secure in their land. Then they will know that I am the LORD, when I have broken the bars of their yoke, and have delivered them out of the hand of those who made slaves of them. ²⁸ "'"They will no longer be prey to the nations. Wild animals will no longer eat them. They will live safely, and no one will frighten them. ²⁹ And I will raise for them a garden plot of renown, and they will no longer be victims of famine in the land, and they will not bear any more the insult of the nations. ³⁰ They will know that I, the LORD, their God am with them, and that they, the house of Israel, are my people, says the Sovereign LORD. ³¹ You my sheep, the sheep of my pasture, are men, and I am your God,' says the Sovereign LORD.”

²⁴ For I will take you from among the nations, and gather you out of all the countries, and will bring you into your own land.

³⁷ "This is what the Sovereign LORD says: 'I will also let the people of Israel ask me to make them as numerous as sheep.

²¹ "Tell them: 'The Sovereign LORD says: "I will take the Israelites out of the nations where they have gone. I will gather them from everywhere and bring them to their own land. ²² I will form them into one nation in the land on the mountains of Israel. One king will rule all of them. They will no longer be two nations or be divided into two kingdoms. ²³ They will no longer dishonor themselves with their idols, with their detestable things, or with their rebellious acts. I will forgive them for all the times they turned away from me and sinned. I will cleanse them so that they will be my people, and I will be their God. ²⁴ And my servant David will be king over them and they all will have one shepherd. They will also walk in my ordinances and observe my statutes and do them. ²⁵ "'"They will live in the land that I gave my servant Jacob, the land where their ancestors lived. They, their children, and their grandchildren will live in it for a very long time. My servant David will be their prince for a very long time. ²⁶ Moreover I will make a covenant of peace with them. It will be an everlasting covenant with them. I will place them, multiply them, and will set my sanctuary among them forever more. ²⁷ "'"My dwelling place will be with them. I will be their God, and they will be my people.

²⁷ When I restore them from the nations and I gather them from the countries of their enemies, then I will show myself holy through them before the eyes of many nations. ²⁸ then they shall know that I am the LORD their God who exiled them among the nations. But I have gathered them to their own land and have not left any of them there.

¹⁴ I will surely restore my people Israel; they will rebuild the ruined cities and inhabit them. They will plant vineyards and drink the wine from them. They will plant gardens and eat the fruit from them. ¹⁵ I will plant the people of Israel in their own land, never again to be torn out of their land that I gave them," says the LORD your God.

¹² On that day he will come to you from Assyria and the cities of Egypt, and from Egypt to the River, and from sea to sea and mountain to mountain.

¹⁹ Behold, at that time I will deal with all that afflict you: and I will save her that is lame, and gather those that were driven out; and I will get them praise and fame in every land where they have been put to shame. ²⁰ At that time I will bring you in, and at that time I will gather you; for I will give you honor and praise among all the peoples of the earth, when I restore your fortunes before your eyes, says the LORD.

⁸ I will signal for them, and gather them; for I have redeemed them; and they will increase as they have increased. ⁹ Though I sow them among the nations, in the distant places they will remember me, and they will stay alive with their children, and they will return. ¹⁰ I will bring them again also out of the land of Egypt, and gather them out of Assyria; and I will bring them into the land of Gilead and Lebanon; and there won’t be room enough for them. ¹¹ He will pass through the sea of affliction, and will strike the waves in the sea, and all the depths of the Nile will dry up; and the pride of Assyria will be brought down, and the scepter of Egypt will depart. ¹² I will make them strong in the LORD, and in his name they will walk, declares the LORD.

⁴⁹ Your servants have taken the sum of the men of war with us, and not one is missing.

⁷⁰ He also chose David his servant, and took him from the sheepfolds; ⁷¹ From following the suckling-ewes, he brought him to feed Jacob his people, and Israel his inheritance. ⁷² David shepherded them with a devoted heart, and led them with skillful hands.

¹¹ It will happen in that day that the Lord will set his hand again the second time to recover the remnant that is left of his people from Assyria, from Egypt, from Pathros, from Cush, from Elam, from Shinar, from Hamath, and from the islands of the sea.

¹⁴ "Return, unfaithful people," declares the LORD, "for I am your husband. I'll take you, one from a city and two from a family, and I'll bring you to Zion. ¹⁵ And I will give you shepherds according to My heart, who will feed you with knowledge and understanding.

¹⁰ Therefore do not fear, O Jacob my servant, says the LORD, nor be dismayed, O Israel. For behold, I will save you from afar and your seed from the land of their captivity and Jacob will return and will be quiet and at ease and none will make him afraid.

¹⁰ Hear the word of the LORD, O nations. Declare in the coastlands afar off. Say: "He who scattered Israel will gather him and keep him as a shepherd keeps his flock.

²⁶ then I might reject the descendants of Jacob and my servant David by not taking some of his descendants as rulers over the descendants of Abraham, Isaac, and Jacob. Indeed, I'll restore their fortunes, and I'll have compassion on them.'"

²⁷ But do not fear, O Jacob my servant, nor be dismayed, O Israel. For behold, I will save you from afar and your seed from the land of their captivity. And Jacob will return and will be quiet and at ease and none will make him afraid. ²⁸ "'Do not be afraid, my servant Jacob," declares the LORD. "I am with you. I will completely destroy all the nations where I scattered you, but I will not completely destroy you. I will correct you with justice. I will not let you go entirely unpunished.'"

³ And I said to her, You shall stay with me many days. You shall not be a harlot, nor be to a man; and I also will be for you. ⁴ For the children of Israel shall live many days without king, and without prince, and without sacrifice, and without sacred stone, and without ephod or idols. ⁵ Afterward the children of Israel shall return, and seek the LORD their God, and David their king, and shall come with trembling to the LORD and to his blessings in the last days.

² But you, Bethlehem Ephrathah, being small among the clans of Judah, out of you one will come out to me that is to be ruler in Israel; whose goings out are from of old, from ancient times.

⁴ And he will stand and shepherd his flock in the strength of the LORD, in the majesty of the name of the LORD his God. And they will live, for now he will be great unto the ends of the earth. ⁵ He will be our peace when Assyria invades our land, and when he marches through our fortresses, then we will raise against him seven shepherds, and eight leaders of men.

¹⁴ Shepherd your people with your staff, the flock of your heritage, who dwell by themselves in a forest, in the midst of fertile pasture land, let them feed; in Bashan and Gilead, as in the days of old.

³⁹ And this is the will of Him who sent Me, that I shall lose none of those He has given Me, but raise them up at the last day. ⁴⁰ For it is My Father’s will that everyone who looks to the Son and believes in Him shall have eternal life, and I will raise him up at the last day.”

²⁷ My sheep listen to my voice; I know them, and they follow me; ²⁸ I give them eternal life, and they shall never perish; no one shall snatch them out of my hand. ²⁹ My Father who has given them to Me is greater than all. No one can snatch them out of My Father’s hand. ³⁰ I and the Father are one."

¹² While I was with them, I protected and preserved them by Your name, the name You gave Me. Not one of them has been lost, except the son of destruction, so that the Scripture would be fulfilled.

⁹ This happened so that the words which he had spoken would be fulfilled, "Of those whom you gave me I have lost none."

¹⁵ When they had finished breakfast, Jesus said to Simon Peter, "Simon, son of John, do you love me more than these?" He said to him, "Yes, Lord; you know that I love you." He said to him, "Feed my lambs." ¹⁶ A second time he said, Simon, son of Jonas, do you love me? He answered, Yes, Lord, you know that I love you. Jesus replied, Tend my sheep. ¹⁷ He said to him the third time: Simon, son of John, do you love me? Peter was grieved because he asked him a third time: Do you love me? And he said to him: Lord, you know all things. You know that I love you. Jesus said to him: Feed my sheep.

²⁸ Keep watch over yourselves and the entire flock of which the Holy Spirit has made you overseers. Be shepherds of the church of God, which He purchased with His own blood. ²⁹ I know that after my departure, savage wolves will come in among you and will not spare the flock.

⁵ who through faith are protected by God’s power for the salvation that is ready to be revealed in the last time.

¹ The elders among you I exhort, who am a fellowelder, and a witness of the sufferings of Christ, who am also a sharer in the glory that is to be revealed; ² Be shepherds of God's flock that is among you, watching over it, not because you must but because you want to, and not greedily but eagerly, as God desires. ³ not lording it over those entrusted to you, but being examples to the flock. ⁴ And when the Chief Shepherd appears, you will receive the crown of glory that will never fade away.

⁴ In your majesty ride on victoriously on behalf of truth, humility, and righteousness. Let your right hand display awesome deeds.

¹ By Solomon. God, give the king your justice; your righteousness to the royal son. ² He will judge your people with righteousness, and your poor with justice.

¹⁵ The root that your right hand planted, the shoot that you tended for yourself,

² On that day the branch of the LORD shall become beautiful and glorious, and the fruit of the land shall become the pride and glory of the survivors of Israel.

⁷ Of the increase of his government and peace there will be no end. He will reign on David's throne and over his kingdom. He will establish and uphold it with justice and righteousness from that time on and forever. The zeal of the LORD Almighty will accomplish this.

¹ And a shoot will come out from the stump of Jesse, and a branch from its roots will bear fruit. ² The Spirit of the LORD will rest on him: the spirit of wisdom and understanding, the spirit of counsel and might, the spirit of knowledge and of the fear of the LORD. ³ His delight will be in the fear of the LORD. He will not judge by the sight of his eyes, neither decide by the hearing of his ears; ⁴ but with righteousness he will judge the poor, and decide with equity for the humble of the earth. He will strike the earth with the rod of his mouth; and with the breath of his lips he will kill the wicked. ⁵ Righteousness will be the belt of his waist, and faithfulness the belt of his waist.

¹ Behold, a king will reign in righteousness and rulers will rule in justice. ² And a man shall be as a hiding-place from the wind, and a covert from the storm; as brooks of water in a dry place, as the shadow of a great rock in a thirsty land.

⁹ You bring good news to Zion. Go up on a high mountain. You bring good news to Jerusalem. Lift up your voice with a shout! Lift it up and do not be afraid! Say to the towns of Judah: "Here is your God!" ¹⁰ See the Sovereign Sovereign LORD comes with power. His arm (power) rules for him. See, his reward is with him and his recompense accompanies him. ¹¹ He tends his flock like a shepherd. He gathers the lambs in his arms and carries them close to his heart. He gently leads those that have young.

¹³ My servant will act wisely. He will be raised, lifted up and highly exalted.

² He grew up before him like a tender shoot, and like a root out of dry ground. He had no beauty or majesty to attract us to him. Nothing in his appearance will make us desire him.

¹⁰ It was the LORD's will to allow him to be crushed. Even though the LORD makes his life a guilt offering, he will see his offspring and prolong his days, and the will of the LORD will prosper in his hand.

³ This is what the LORD says: "Uphold justice and righteousness. Deliver from their oppressor those who have been robbed. Don't mistreat or do violence to the alien, the orphan, or the widow, or shed the blood of innocent people in this place.

¹⁵ Do you become a king because you are competing in cedar? Did not your father eat and drink and do justice and righteousness? Then it was well with him.

³⁰ Thus says the LORD: "Record this man as childless, a man who will not succeed in his days, for no man from his offspring will succeed him, sitting on the throne of David and ruling again in Judah."

⁶ In his days Judah will be saved, and Israel will dwell safely. This is his name by which he will be called: the LORD our righteousness.

⁹ 'Rather, they will serve the LORD their God and David their king, whom I will raise up for them.

²⁷ "Look, the days are coming," declares the LORD, "and I will sow the house of Israel and the house of Judah with the seed of humankind, and with the seed of animals.

³¹ "The time is coming," proclaims the LORD, "when I will make a new covenant with the house of Israel and with the house of Judah. ³² It won't be like the covenant I made with their ancestors on the day I took them by the hand to bring them out of the land of Egypt. They broke my covenant, although I was a husband to them," declares the LORD. ³³ "But this is the covenant that I will make with the house of Israel after those days," says the LORD: "I will put my law in their minds, and write it on their hearts; and I will be their God, and they shall be my people: ³⁴ And they will teach no more every man his neighbor and every man his brother, saying, Know the LORD, for they will all know me, from the least of them to the greatest of them, says the LORD. For I will forgive their iniquity and I will remember their sin no more. ³⁵ So says the LORD, who gives the sun for a light by day, the laws of the moon, and the stars for a light by night, who stirs up the sea so that its waves roar, the LORD Almighty is His name. ³⁶ "If these ordinances depart from before me," says the LORD, "then the descendants of Israel also shall cease from being a nation before me forever." ³⁷ Thus says the LORD, "If the heavens above can be measured, and the foundations of the earth below can be explored, also I will reject all the offspring of Israel because of all that they have done," declares the LORD. ³⁸ "The time is coming," declares the LORD, "when the city will be rebuilt for me from the Tower of Hananel to Corner Gate.

¹⁴ 'Look, days are coming,' declares the LORD, 'and I will fulfill the good promise that I promised to the house of Israel and to the house of Judah. ¹⁵ In those days and at that time I'll cause a righteous Branch to spring up for David, and he will uphold justice and righteousness in the land. ¹⁶ In those days Judah will be saved, and Jerusalem will dwell safely. This is the name by which she will be called: the LORD our righteousness.”

² "Son of man, put forth a riddle, and speak a parable to the house of Israel; ³ and say, Thus says the Sovereign LORD: A great eagle with great wings and long feathers, full of feathers of various colours, came to Lebanon, and took off the top of the cedar. ⁴ He cropped off the top of its young shoots, and carried it into a merchants` land; he set it in a city of traders. ⁵ and he took from the seed of the land and placed it in fertile soil on many waters; like a willow he planted it. ⁶ And it grew and became a spreading low vine, whose branches turned toward him. And its roots were under him. So it became a vine and brought out branches and shot out boughs. ⁷ There was also another great eagle with great wings and many feathers. This vine bent its roots toward him, and shot forth its branches toward him, from the beds of its plantation, that he might water it. ⁸ "'"It was planted in good soil beside plenty of water so that it could grow branches, bear fruit, and become a wonderful vine."' ⁹ Say, Thus saith the Sovereign LORD: Shall it prosper? Shall he not pull up its roots, and cut off its fruit, that it may wither? All its fresh sprouting leaves shall wither, even without a great arm and many people to pluck it up by its roots. ¹⁰ "‘"Though it is transplanted, will it thrive? Will it not completely wither as soon as the east wind strikes it, wither on the beds where it grew?"’"

²² The Sovereign LORD says thus: I will also take of the lofty top of the cedar and will set it. I will crop off a tender one from the topmost of its offshoots and I will plant it upon a high and lofty mountain. ²³ I will plant it in the mountain of the height of Israel; and it will produce boughs, and bear fruit, and be a good cedar. Birds of every kind will dwell in the shade of its branches. ²⁴ And all the trees of the field shall know that I the LORD have brought down the high tree, have exalted the low tree, have dried up the green tree, and made the dry tree to flourish: I the LORD have spoken, and will do [it].

²⁹ And I will raise for them a garden plot of renown, and they will no longer be victims of famine in the land, and they will not bear any more the insult of the nations.

²⁴ Seventy weeks are decreed on your people and on your holy city, to put an end to the transgression, and to make an end to sin, and to atone for iniquity, and to bring in everlasting righteousness, and to seal up vision and prophecy, and to anoint the most holy place.

⁵ Afterward the children of Israel shall return, and seek the LORD their God, and David their king, and shall come with trembling to the LORD and to his blessings in the last days.

¹¹ "At that time I will restore David's fallen tent, restoring its torn places. I will restore its ruins, rebuilding it as it was long ago,

⁸ Listen, please, O Joshua the high priest, you and your companions that are sitting before you. For the men are a sign that, look, I am going to bring my servant the Branch.

¹² Then tell him, 'This is what the LORD of the Heavenly Armies says: "Here is the man whose name is The Branch. He will branch out from where he is and will rebuild the temple of the LORD. ¹³ And he will build the temple of the LORD, and he will bear majesty and will sit and rule on his throne. And he shall be a priest on his throne, and the counsel of peace will be between the two of them." '

⁹ Rejoice greatly, daughter of Zion. Shout, daughter of Jerusalem. Look, your king comes to you. He is righteous, and having salvation; lowly, and riding on a donkey, even on a colt, the foal of a donkey.

² and asked, "Where is the one who was born king of the Jews? We saw his star in the east and have come to worship him."

³² He will be great and will be called the Son of the Most High. The Lord God will give him the throne of his father David, ³³ and He will reign over the house of Jacob forever. His kingdom will never end!”

⁴⁵ Philip found Nathanael and told him, “We have found the One Moses wrote about in the Law, the One the prophets foretold—Jesus of Nazareth, the son of Joseph.”

⁴⁹ Nathanael answered him, Rabbi, you are the Son of God; you are the King of Israel.

⁸ But when God found fault with the people, He said: “Behold, the days are coming, says the Lord, when I will make a new covenant with the house of Israel and with the house of Judah.

¹¹ Then I saw heaven standing open, and there before me was a white horse. And its rider is called Faithful and True. With righteousness He judges and wages war.

²⁸ Israel shall dwell in safety alone, the fountain of Jacob in a land of grain and new wine. Yes, His heavens drop down dew. ²⁹ How blessed are you, Israel! Who can be like you, a people delivered by the LORD, your shield of help and your finely crafted sword. May your enemies cower before you. You will tread down their high places.

²⁵ As long as he lived, the people throughout Judah and Israel lived in safety. Each family had its own grapevines and fig trees.

⁷ O Israel, hope in the LORD; for with the LORD there is mercy, and with him is plenteous redemption ⁸ He will redeem Israel from all their sins.

⁴ He will judge between the nations, and will decide concerning many peoples. They shall beat their swords into plowshares, and their spears into pruning hooks. Nation shall not lift up sword against nation, neither shall they learn war any more.

¹⁴ Therefore the LORD will give you a sign: The virgin will be with child and will give birth to a son, and will call him Immanuel (God with us).

⁶ For to us a child is born. To us a son is given; and the government will be on his shoulders. His name will be called Wonderful Counselor, Mighty God, Everlasting Father, Prince of Peace.

¹ In that day you will say: "I will praise you, O LORD. Although you were angry with me, your anger has turned away and you have comforted me. ² "Truly God is my salvation! I will trust and not be afraid. the LORD… the LORD is my strength and my song! He has become my salvation."

²² For the LORD is our judge; the LORD is our lawgiver. the LORD is our king; he is the one who will save us.

⁹ No lion will be there, nor will any ravenous beast go up in it. They will not be found there. But the redeemed will walk there.

¹⁷ the LORD will save Israel with an everlasting salvation. You will never be put to shame or disgraced, to ages everlasting.

²⁴ He shall say, Only in the LORD do I have righteousness and strength; to Him he comes; and they are ashamed, all who are angry with Him. ²⁵ In the LORD all the seed of Israel will be justified and will glory.

¹⁷ "Weapons forged against you will not prevail! You will refute every tongue that accuses you. This is the heritage of the servants of the LORD and this is their vindication from me," declares the LORD.

¹⁶ In those days Judah will be saved, and Jerusalem will dwell safely. This is the name by which she will be called: the LORD our righteousness.”

²⁵ And I will make a covenant of peace with them, and will send the evil beasts out of the land. And they shall dwell safely in the wilderness and sleep in the woods. ²⁶ And I will make them a blessing round about my hill: and I will send down the rain in its season, there shall be showers of blessing. ²⁷ The tree of the field will yield its fruit, and the earth will yield its increase, and they will be secure in their land. Then they will know that I am the LORD, when I have broken the bars of their yoke, and have delivered them out of the hand of those who made slaves of them. ²⁸ "'"They will no longer be prey to the nations. Wild animals will no longer eat them. They will live safely, and no one will frighten them.

²⁴ And my servant David will be king over them and they all will have one shepherd. They will also walk in my ordinances and observe my statutes and do them. ²⁵ "'"They will live in the land that I gave my servant Jacob, the land where their ancestors lived. They, their children, and their grandchildren will live in it for a very long time. My servant David will be their prince for a very long time. ²⁶ Moreover I will make a covenant of peace with them. It will be an everlasting covenant with them. I will place them, multiply them, and will set my sanctuary among them forever more. ²⁷ "'"My dwelling place will be with them. I will be their God, and they will be my people. ²⁸ The nations will know that I am the LORD who sanctifies Israel, when my sanctuary is among them forever more.”'”

⁷ But I will have pity on the house of Judah and I will save them by Yahweh their God, and will not deliver them by bow, sword, war, horses, or horsemen.

¹⁸ And in that day I will make a covenant for them, with the wild beasts of the field and the birds of the air and the reptiles of the earth; and bow and sword and battle I will crush out of the land; and I will settle thee securely

¹⁷ But upon mount Zion shall be deliverance, and it shall be holy: and the house of Jacob shall again possess their inheritances.

²¹ Saviors will go up on Mount Zion to judge the mountains of Esau, and the kingdom will be the LORD's.

¹³ The remnant of Israel will not do iniquity, nor speak lies, neither will a deceitful tongue be found in their mouth, for they will feed and lie down, and no one will make them afraid."

⁴ and said to him, "Run, speak to this young man, saying, 'Jerusalem will be inhabited as villages without walls, because of the multitude of men and livestock in it. ⁵ And I will be for it a wall of fire all around,' declares the LORD, 'and I will be the glory in its midst.'"

¹⁰ In that day', says the LORD of Armies, 'every man will invite his neighbour to come under his vine and under his fig tree'.

⁶ And I will strengthen the house of Judah, and the house of Joseph I will save. And I will bring them back, because I have compassion on them, and they will be as if I had not rejected them, for I am the LORD their God, and I will answer them.

⁹ The LORD will be king over all the earth at that time. There will be one LORD, and his name the only one. ¹⁰ All the land from Geba to Rimmon south of Jerusalem shall be turned as the Arabah; and [Jerusalem] shall be lifted up, and shall dwell in her own place, from Benjamin`s gate unto the place of the first gate, unto the corner-gate, and from the tower of Hananeel unto the king`s winepresses. ¹¹ Men will dwell in it, and there will be no more curse; but Jerusalem will dwell safely.

²¹ She will give birth to a son, and you shall give Him the name Jesus, because He will save His people from their sins.” ²² All this took place to fulfill what the Lord had said through the prophet: ²³ “Behold! The virgin will be with child and will give birth to a son, and they will call Him Immanuel” (which means, “God with us”).

⁷¹ salvation from our enemies and from the hand of all who hate us, ⁷² to show mercy to our fathers, and to remember his holy covenant; ⁷³ the oath that He swore to our father Abraham; ⁷⁴ to be redeemed from the hand of our enemies; and that we should worship before him, without fear,

⁹ Jesus said to him, “Today salvation has come to this house, because this man too is a son of Abraham. ¹⁰ For the Son of Man came, to seek and to save what was lost.

²² And this righteousness from God comes through faith in Jesus Christ to all who believe. There is no distinction,

²⁶ And so all Israel will be saved, as it is written: “The Deliverer will come from Zion, He will remove godlessness from Jacob. ²⁷ And this is my covenant with them when I take away their sins."

³⁰ It is because of Him that you are in Christ Jesus, who has become for us wisdom from God: our righteousness, holiness, and redemption.

²¹ God made Him who knew no sin to be sin on our behalf, so that in Him we might become the righteousness of God.

⁹ and be found in him, not having a righteousness of my own that comes from the law, but that which is through faith in Christthe righteousness that comes from God and is by faith,

¹⁸ Remember not former things, and look not on things of old. ¹⁹ Look! I am about to do a new thing! Now it sprouts! Do you not perceive it? Indeed, I will make a way in the wilderness, rivers in the desert.

¹⁴ "Therefore, days are coming," declares the LORD, "when it will no longer be said, 'As surely as the LORD lives, who brought up the Israelites from the land of Egypt.' ¹⁵ Rather it will be said, 'As surely as the LORD lives, who brought the Israelites up from the land of the north and from all the lands to which the LORD had banished them.' I'll bring them back to their land, which I gave to their ancestors.

³ "I'll gather the remnant of my flock from all the countries where I've driven them, and bring them back to their pasture where they'll be fruitful and increase in numbers.

³¹ "The time is coming," proclaims the LORD, "when I will make a new covenant with the house of Israel and with the house of Judah. ³² It won't be like the covenant I made with their ancestors on the day I took them by the hand to bring them out of the land of Egypt. They broke my covenant, although I was a husband to them," declares the LORD. ³³ "But this is the covenant that I will make with the house of Israel after those days," says the LORD: "I will put my law in their minds, and write it on their hearts; and I will be their God, and they shall be my people: ³⁴ And they will teach no more every man his neighbor and every man his brother, saying, Know the LORD, for they will all know me, from the least of them to the greatest of them, says the LORD. For I will forgive their iniquity and I will remember their sin no more.

¹ the LORD will have compassion on Jacob and again choose Israel. He will resettle them in their own country. Foreigners will join them and unite with the descendants of Jacob.

⁸ the LORD says: "As when juice is still found in a cluster of grapes and men say, 'Do not destroy it, there is yet some good in it,' so will I do in behalf of my servants; I will not destroy them all. ⁹ I will bring forth offspring from Jacob, and from Judah those who will possess my mountains. My chosen people will inherit them and my servants will live there. ¹⁰ Sharon will be pasture for flocks, and the Valley of Achor a resting place for herds, for my people who seek me.

¹³ And I will bring them out from the peoples, and I will gather them from the countries, and I will bring them to their soil, and I will feed them on the mountains of Israel, in the valleys, and in all of the settlements of the land.

²⁵ "'"They will live in the land that I gave my servant Jacob, the land where their ancestors lived. They, their children, and their grandchildren will live in it for a very long time. My servant David will be their prince for a very long time.

²⁸ then they shall know that I am the LORD their God who exiled them among the nations. But I have gathered them to their own land and have not left any of them there.

²⁰ At that time I will bring you in, and at that time I will gather you; for I will give you honor and praise among all the peoples of the earth, when I restore your fortunes before your eyes, says the LORD.

¹⁹ because your heart was tender and you have humbled yourself before the LORD, when you heard what I spoke against this place, and against its people (that they should become a waste and a curse, and have torn your clothes and wept before Me), I have heard you, says the LORD. ²⁰ 'Therefore behold, I will gather you to your fathers, and you will be gathered to your grave in peace. Your eyes will not see all the evil which I will bring on this place.'”'” So they brought this message back to the king.

³ You have shown your people hard things; You have given us wine that staggers.

⁵ "Woe to me!" I cried. "I am ruined! For I am a man of unclean lips (a sinner) and I live among a people of unclean (filthy) lips (speech) (language). My eyes have seen the King, the LORD Almighty."

¹ Woe to the crown of pride of the drunkards of Ephraim, and to the fading flower of his glorious beauty, which is on the head of the fertile valley of those who are overcome with wine!

⁹ Be astonished and be amazed! Blind yourselves and be blinded! They are drunk but not from wine; they stagger but not from strong drink.

²¹ Therefore hear this, you afflicted one, made drunk, but not with wine.

³¹ "The prophets prophesy falsely, the priests rule by their own authority, and my people love it this way. But what will you do in the end?

¹ Oh that my head were waters, and my eyes a fountain of tears, that I might weep day and night for the slain of the daughter of my people!

¹⁷ You, say this word to them; My eyes drip with tears night and day and they cease not: for the virgin daughter of my people is broken with a great breaking - with a mighty stroking stroke. ¹⁸ If I go out into the field, I see those slain by the sword! If I go into the city, I see the ravages of the famine! Indeed, both prophet and priest ply their trade in the land, but they don't know anything.'"

¹⁵ "This is what the LORD the God of Israel said to me: 'Take from my hand this cup filled with the wine of my fury, and make all the nations to whom I am sending you drink from it. ¹⁶ And they shall drink, and stagger, and go mad, because of the sword that I will send among them. ¹⁷ So I took the cup from the LORD's hand, and I made all the nations to whom the LORD sent me drink it: ¹⁸ Jerusalem, the cities of Judah, its kings and officials to make them into a ruin, an object of horror and scorn, and a curse, as it is this day;

¹⁵ VAU. He has filled me with bitterness, he has drenched me with gall.

⁴ and said to him, Go through the midst of Jerusalem, and set a mark on the foreheads of the men that groan and that grieve for all the iniquities that are done in the midst of them.

⁶ Slay utterly old man and youth, and virgin, and infants, and women: but go ye not nigh any on whom is the mark: begin at my sanctuary. So they began with the elder men who were within in the house.

²⁷ I, Daniel, fainted, and was sick for some days. Then I rose up, and did the king's business. I wondered at the vision, but no one understood it.

¹⁶ I heard and my body trembled! My lips quivered at the voice. Rottenness entered into my bones and I tremble. I must wait quietly for the day of trouble, for the people who invade us.

⁹ Once I was alive apart from the Law; but when the commandment came, sin sprang to life and I died.

³⁴ and a fruitful land into a salt waste because of the wickedness of those who dwell in it.

⁶ Therefore a curse devours the earth, and the inhabitants in it suffer for their guilt. Therefore the inhabitants of the earth burn, and few men are left.

⁷ "How can I forgive you? Your children have forsaken me, and they have sworn by those who are not gods. But I fed them to the full, and they committed adultery, and flocked to the house of a prostitute. ⁸ They were well-fed, lusty stallions, each one neighing after his neighbor's wife.

⁹ Will you steal, murder, commit adultery, swear falsely, burn incense to Baal, and walk after other gods that you have not known,

² Oh that I had in the wilderness a lodging place for traveling men, that I might leave my people and go away from them! For they are all adulterers, an assembly of treacherous men.

¹⁰ I'll weep and mourn for the mountains, and lament for the desert pastures, because they are desolate and no one passes through them. They don't hear the lowing of the cattle. Both the birds of the sky and the animals have fled. They're gone!

³ You know me, LORD. You see me and test my thoughts toward you. Pull the wicked out like sheep for slaughter; set them apart for the day of butchering. ⁴ How long shall the land be parched, and the grass of every field wither? For the wickedness of those who dwell in it, the animals are consumed, and the birds; because they said, "He shall not see our latter end."

² "Judah mourns, and her gates languish. The people mourn for the land, and the cry of Jerusalem goes up.

² She weeps bitterly in the night, and her tears are on her cheeks; among all her lovers she has none to comfort her. All her friends have dealt treacherously with her; they have become her enemies. ³ Judah has gone into exile because of affliction and harsh servitude; she dwells among the nations, she finds no rest: all her persecutors overtook her in the midst of her distress. ⁴ The roads of Zion mourn without any going to the appointed feasts. All her gates are deserted; her priests sigh; her virgins are afflicted, and she is in bitterness.

⁹ In you are men of slander to shed blood; and in you they eat on the mountains; in your midst they do unchaste acts. ¹⁰ In you they have let the shame of their fathers be seen; in you they have done wrong to a woman at the time when she was unclean. ¹¹ And one has committed abomination with his neighbor's wife; and another has lewdly defiled his daughter-in-law; and another in you has violated his sister, his father's daughter.

² There is cursing, lying, murder, stealing, and committing adultery; they break boundaries, and bloodshed causes bloodshed. ³ Therefore the land mourns, and all those living in it languish with the animals of the field, and the birds of the heaven, and even the fish of the sea are being swept away.

¹⁰ "The field is laid waste, the land mourns. The grain is destroyed, the new wine dried up, the oil fails.

³ He responded to me, "This is the curse that is going out over the surface of the whole earth, because, according to this side of the scroll, all thieves will be ejected, and according to the other side of the scroll, all liars will be ejected." ⁴ I will cause it to go out," says the LORD of hosts, "and it will enter into the house of the thief, and into the house of him who swears falsely by my name; and it will remain in the midst of his house, and will destroy it with its timber and its stones."

⁵ I will come near to you to judgment; and I will be a swift witness against the sorcerers, and against the adulterers, and against the perjurers, and against those who oppress the hireling in his wages, the widow, and the fatherless, and who deprive the foreigner of justice, and do not fear me," says the LORD of hosts.

⁹ Do you not know that the wicked will not inherit the kingdom of God? Do not be deceived: Neither the sexually immoral, nor idolaters, nor adulterers, nor men who submit to or perform homosexual acts, ¹⁰ nor thieves, nor the greedy, nor drunkards, nor revilers, nor swindlers will inherit the kingdom of God.

¹⁹ The acts of the flesh are obvious: sexual immorality, impurity, and debauchery; ²⁰ Idolatry, witchcraft, hatred, strife, jealousy, fits of rage, selfishness, dissensions, factions, ²¹ and envy; drunkenness, carousing, and the like. I warn you, as I did before, that those who practice such things will not inherit the kingdom of God.

¹⁰ for fornicators, for sodomites, for kidnappers, for liars, for perjurers, and for whatever else is contrary to the sound doctrine

⁴ Marriage should be honored by all and the marriage bed kept undefiled, for God will judge the sexually immoral and adulterers.

⁴ You adulteresses! Do you not know that friendship with the world is hostility toward God? Therefore, whoever chooses to be a friend of the world renders himself an enemy of God.

⁵ He built altars for all the army of the sky in the two courts of the LORD’s house.

⁷ He set the engraved image of the idol, which he had made, in God's house, of which God said to David and to Solomon his son, “In this house, and in Jerusalem, which I have chosen out of all the tribes of Israel, I will put my name forever.

¹⁴ All the leaders of the priests and the people likewise increased in unfaithfulness according to all the detestable things of the nations. And they polluted the house of the LORD that he had consecrated in Jerusalem.

¹³ For from the least of them even to the greatest, all are given to covetousness: and from the prophet even to the priest, all are guilty of deceit.

¹⁰ and then come and stand before Me in this house which is called by My name, and say, We are delivered to do all these abominations? ¹¹ "Has this house, called by my name, become a den of robbers in your sight? Behold, I, even I, have seen it," declares the LORD.

³⁰ "For the people of Judah have done evil in my eyes," declares the LORD. "They have put their detestable idols in the house that is called by my name in order to defile it.

¹⁰ Therefore I will give their wives to others, their fields to conquerors, because from the smallest to the greatest, all of them make profit for unlawful gain, from prophet to priest, all of them practice deceit.

¹⁵ What has my beloved to do in my house, seeing she has worked lewdness with many, and the holy flesh is passed from you? when you do evil, then you rejoice.

¹⁵ Therefore the LORD of Armies says concerning the prophets: “Behold, I will feed them with wormwood, and make them drink poisoned water; for from the prophets of Jerusalem ungodliness has gone out into all the land.”

³⁴ They put their detestable idols in the house that is called by my name and defiled it.

²⁰ '"Once they were proud of their beautiful jewels, but they used them to make disgusting idols. That is why the LORD has made their wealth repulsive to them.

⁵ God said to me: "Son of man, look toward the north." So I looked toward the north. There in the entrance to the north gate beside the altar, I saw the idol that provokes jealousy and stirs up God's anger. ⁶ And he said to me, "Son of man, "Do you see what they are doing—great detestable things that the house of Israel is committing here so as to drive me from my sanctuary, and yet you will see again greater detestable things."

¹¹ Standing in front of them were seventy elders of the house of Israel. Jaazaniah the son of Shaphan stood among them. Each man had his censer in his hand and the fragrance of the cloud of incense was rising.

¹⁶ And he brought me into the inner court of the LORD’s house, and, behold, at the entrance of the temple of the LORD, between the porch and the altar, were about twenty-five men with their backs toward the temple of the LORD and their faces toward the east; and they worshipped the sun toward the east.

²⁵ There is a conspiracy of her prophets within it, like a roaring lion ravening the prey. They have devoured souls. They take treasure and precious things. They have made many widows within it. ²⁶ her priests do violence to my law, and profane my holy things: they put no difference between the holy and profane, neither do they make known [the difference] between the unclean and the clean, and they hide their eyes from my sabbaths, and I am profaned among them.

³⁹ "For when they had slaughtered their children for their idols, they entered my sanctuary on the same day to profane it. Then they did within my house.

⁴ Her prophets are vain-glorious, treacherous persons; her priests profane the sanctuary, they do violence to the law.

¹² Then Jesus went into the temple courts and drove out all who were buying and selling there. He overturned the tables of the money changers and the seats of those selling doves. ¹³ "It is written," he said, "My house shall be called a house of prayer, but you are making it a den of thieves."

¹⁸ "He is driven from light into darkness and is banished from the world.

⁶ Let their way be dark and slippery, with the angel of the LORD pursuing them.

¹⁸ Surely You set them in slippery places; You cast them down into ruin.

¹⁹ The way of the wicked is like darkness. They do not know what makes them stumble.

²² and they will look to the earth; and behold, trouble and darkness, gloom of anguish; and they shall be driven into thick darkness.

²³ And a remnant will not be left for them, for I will bring disaster to the people of Anathoth, the year of their punishment."

¹⁶ Give glory to the LORD your God before he brings darkness, before your feet stumble on the mountains at twilight. You hope for light, but he turns it into deep darkness. He changes it into heavy gloom.

⁴⁴ He who flees from the dread shall fall into the pit. And he who goes up out of the pit shall be taken in the snare. For I will bring it on Moab, the year of their punishment, declares the LORD.

²⁷ Kill all her bulls; let them go down to the slaughter. Woe to them! For their day has come, the time of their punishment.

³⁵ Then Jesus said to them, "A little while longer the light is with you. Walk while you have the light, lest the darkness overtake you; he who walks in the darkness does not know where he is going.

¹¹ But whoever hates his brother is in the darkness and walks in the darkness. He does not know where he is going, because the darkness has blinded his eyes.

¹³ They are wild waves of the sea, foaming up their own shame; wandering stars, for whom blackest darkness has been reserved forever.

¹⁸ Then he said in answer: "I have not made trouble for Israel. You and your family have. You have disobeyed the LORD's commands and have gone after the Baals. ¹⁹ Now therefore send and gather to me all Israel unto Mount Carmel, and the four hundred and fifty prophets of Baal, and the four hundred prophets of the groves, who eat at Jezebel’s table. ²⁰ So Ahab sent word among the Israelites, and he assembled the prophets to Mount Carmel. ²¹ Elijah came near to all the people, and said, “How long will you waver between the two sides? If the LORD is God, follow him; but if Baal, then follow him.” The people didn't say a word.

²⁵ So Elijah told the prophets of Baal, "Choose an ox for yourselves and you prepare it first, since there are so many of you. Call on the name of your god, but don't set fire to the offering." ²⁶ So they took the ox that was given to them, prepared it, and called on the name of Baal from early morning until noon. "Baal! Answer us!" they cried. But there was no response. Nobody answered. So they kept on dancing around the altar that they had made. ²⁷ At noon, Elijah mocked them, and said, “Cry aloud; for he is a god. Either he is deep in thought, or he has gone somewhere, or he is on a journey, or perhaps he sleeps and must be awakened.” ²⁸ So they called out with a loud voice, and they cut themselves with swords and with spears as was their custom, until the blood poured out over them.

⁴⁰ Then Elijah said to them, "Seize the prophets of Baal; don't let any man of them escape!" So they seized them, and Elijah brought them down to the wadi of Kishon and killed them there.

⁹ And Manasseh made Judah and the people of Jerusalem to err, to do worse than the nations whom the LORD had destroyed before the sons of Israel.

¹⁶ For those who lead this people lead them astray; and those who are led by them are destroyed.

⁷ The days of visitation are come, the days of recompense are come, Israel shall know it. The prophet is a fool, the man of the spirit is mad! For the multitude of thine iniquity, the enmity is great. ⁸ The prophet keeps watch over Ephraim for my God; the snare of a fowler is on all his ways, and hostility in the house of his God.

¹³ The men of Sodom were wicked and sinned greatly against the LORD.

²⁰ And the LORD said, "The cry of Sodom and Gomorrah is great, and their sin is exceeding grievous.

³² For their vine is from the vine of Sodom, and from the terraces of Gomorrah; their grapes are grapes of poison; ⌊their clusters are bitter⌋.

⁹ Unless the LORD of hosts had left us a few survivors, we would have been as Sodom, and we would have been like Gomorrah. ¹⁰ Hear the word of the LORD, you rulers of Sodom, listen to the law of our God, you people of Gomorrah.

⁶ Each helps the other and says to his brother: "Be strong!" ⁷ The craftsman encourages the goldsmith. He who smooths with the hammer spurs on him who strikes the anvil. He says of the welding: It is good. He nails down the idol so it will not topple.

³⁰ An astounding and horrible thing has happened in the land. ³¹ "The prophets prophesy falsely, the priests rule by their own authority, and my people love it this way. But what will you do in the end?

¹⁴ Then the LORD told me, "The prophets are prophesying lies in my name. I didn't send them, I didn't command them, and I didn't speak to them. They're proclaiming to you false visions, worthless predictions, and the delusions of their own minds.

¹³ "Therefore, this is what the LORD says: 'Ask the nations. Who has ever heard of anything like this? You have done a most horrible thing, virgin Israel.

¹⁶ May that man be like the cities that the LORD overthrew without compassion. Let him hear a cry in the morning, and a battle cry at noon,

¹⁷ They say continually to those who despise me, the LORD has said, You will have peace. And to everyone who walks in the stubbornness of his own heart they say, No evil will come upon you.

²⁵ "I have heard what the prophets have said who prophesy falsely in my name. They say: 'I had a dream! I had a dream!" ²⁶ How long shall this be in the heart of the prophets that prophesy lies, and that prophesy the delusions of their own heart?

³² Look, I'm against those who prophesy based on false dreams," declares the LORD, "and relate them and lead my people astray with their lies and their recklessness. I didn't send them; I didn't command them, and they provide no benefit at all to these people," declares the LORD.

²³ because they did something stupid in Israel. They committed adultery with their neighbors' wives, and in my name they spoke lies that I didn't command them. I'm the one who knows, and I'm a witness," declares the LORD.'"

² "Son of man, prophesy against the prophets of Israel who prophesy, and say to those who prophesy out of their own heart, 'Hear the word of the LORD: ³ The Sovereign LORD says, “Woe to the foolish prophets, who follow their own spirit, and have seen nothing! ⁴ Your prophets have been like foxes among ruins.

¹⁶ the prophets of Israel who prophesy as to Jerusalem, and who see visions of peace for her. And there is no peace, declares the Sovereign LORD.

²² ‘»You have discouraged righteous people with your lies, even though I had not brought them any grief. You encouraged wicked people not to turn from their wicked ways to save their lives. ²³ Therefore you shall no more see false visions, nor practice divination. I will deliver my people out of your hand. Then you will know that I am the LORD.'”

⁴⁶ '"Now your older sister is Samaria, who lives north of you with her daughters. Your younger sister, who lives south of you, is Sodom with her daughters. ⁴⁷ Yet hast thou not walked after their ways, nor done after their abominations: but in all thy ways thou hast been more corrupt than they. ⁴⁸ As I live, declares the Sovereign LORD, your sister Sodom, she and her daughters, have not done as you and your daughters have done. ⁴⁹ ‘»This was the guilt of your sister Sodom. She and her daughters had arrogance, abundant food and careless ease, but she did not help the poor and needy. ⁵⁰ '"They were arrogant and did disgusting things in front of me. So I did away with them when I saw this. ⁵¹ Samaria hasn’t committed half of your sins; but you have multiplied your abominations more than they, and have justified your sisters by all your abominations which you have done. ⁵² Also, you bear your disgrace, by which you furnished justification to your sisters through your sins by which you acted more abominably than they; they were more righteous than you, and also, you be ashamed and bear your disgrace through your making your sister righteous.

²⁵ There is a conspiracy of her prophets within it, like a roaring lion ravening the prey. They have devoured souls. They take treasure and precious things. They have made many widows within it.

¹¹ Her leaders judge for bribes, and her priests teach for a price, and her prophets of it tell fortunes for money: yet they lean on the LORD, and say, “Isn’t the LORD among us? No disaster will come on us.”

¹ An oracle. The word of the LORD to Israel through Malachi.

²⁴ But I tell you that it will be more bearable for Sodom on the day of judgment than for you.”

⁹ The coming of the lawless one will be accompanied by the power of Satan. He will use every kind of power, including miraculous signs, lying wonders, ¹⁰ and with all the deception of wickedness for those who are to perish, because they refused to love the truth and so be saved. ¹¹ For this reason, God will send them a powerful delusion so that they will believe the lie,

² through the pretensions of liars, whose consciences have been seared as with a hot iron,

¹ Now there were also false prophets among the people, just as there will be false teachers among you. They will secretly introduce destructive heresies that even deny the Master who bought them, bringing swift destruction on themselves. ² Many will follow their immoral ways, and as a result, the way of the truth will be maligned.

⁶ if He condemned the cities of Sodom and Gomorrah to destruction, reducing them to ashes as an example of what is coming on the ungodly;

¹⁴ They have eyes full of adultery, that never cease from sin; they entice unstable souls. They have hearts trained in greed. Accursed children! ¹⁵ They have left the straight way and wandered off to follow the way of Balaam son of Bosor, who loved the wages of wickedness. ¹⁶ but he was rebuked for his own transgression by a donkeya beast without speechwho spoke with a man's voice and restrained the prophet's madness. ¹⁷ These men are springs without water and mists driven by a storm. Blackest darkness is reserved for them. ¹⁸ With lofty but empty words, they appeal to the sensual passions of the flesh and entice the ones who are just escaping from those who live in error. ¹⁹ They promise them freedom, while they themselves are slaves to corruption. For a man is a slave to whatever has overcome him.

⁷ So also, in a similar way, Sodom and Gomorrah, and their surrounding towns, which had abandoned themselves to sexual immorality and [sexually] perverted behavior, serve as an example [of people] who [will] suffer the punishment of never ending fire.

⁸ Their corpses will lie in the street of the great city, which spiritually is called Sodom and Egypt, where also their Lord was crucified.

²⁰ But the beast was captured, and with him the false prophet who had performed signs on his behalf, by which he deceived those who had the mark of the beast and worshiped its image. Both of them were thrown alive into the fiery lake of burning sulfur.

⁸ But to the cowardly and unbelieving and abominable and murderers and sexually immoral and sorcerers and idolaters and all liars, their place will be in the lake that burns with fire and sulfur. This is the second death.”

¹⁵ Outside are the dogs, the sorcerers, the sexually immoral, the murderers, the idolaters, and everyone who loves and practices falsehood.

²¹ They gave me also gall for my food, and made me drink vinegar for my thirst.

¹⁴ Why are we sitting here? Join together! Let's go to the fortified cities and perish there! For the LORD our God has condemned us to perish and given us poisoned water to drink, because we have sinned against him.

¹⁵ Therefore, this is what the LORD of the Heavenly Armies, the God of Israel, says: "Look, I'll make these people eat wormwood and drink poisoned water.

⁵ He has besieged and engulfed me with bitterness and hardship.

¹⁹ Remember my affliction and my misery, the wormwood and the gall.

³⁴ they offered Him wine to drink, mixed with gall; but after tasting it, He refused to drink it.

¹¹ The name of the star is Wormwood. One-third of the water turned into wormwood, and many people died from the water because it had turned bitter.

¹⁵ They rejected the LORD's statutes, the covenant that he had made with their ancestors, and his warnings that he gave them. They pursued meaninglessness {— } and became meaningless themselves {— } as they followed the lifestyles of the nations that surrounded them, a practice that the LORD had warned them not to do.

²⁷ If you stop listening to instruction, my son, you will stray from the words of knowledge.

⁵ the LORD says: "What bad thing (injustice) did your fathers find in me that they went so far away from me? They followed worthless idols and became worthless (lead astray) themselves.

²⁰ For hear, O women, the word of the LORD, and let your ear receive the word of his mouth, and teach your daughters a lamentation, and each woman her neighbor a lament.

²¹ I did not send these prophets, but they ran of themselves; I did not speak to them, yet they prophesied.

²⁶ How long shall this be in the heart of the prophets that prophesy lies, and that prophesy the delusions of their own heart?

⁹ "Do not listen to prophets, mediums, and interpreters of dreams, fortunetellers, or sorcerers who tell you, 'You will never serve the king of Babylon.' ¹⁰ "They prophesy lies to you. They will cause you to be taken far from your lands. I will scatter you, and you will die.

¹⁴ Don't listen to the words of the prophets who say to you, 'You won't serve the king of Babylon. Indeed, they're prophesying a lie to you. ¹⁵ For I have not sent them," declares the LORD, "but they are prophesying in my name falsely, so that I will drive them away. And you will perish—you and the prophets who are prophesying to you." ¹⁶ I also spoke this message to the priests and all the people. This is what the LORD said to me: "Do not listen to the prophets who tell you that the utensils of the LORD's Temple will be brought back from Babylon soon. They prophesy lies to you." ¹⁷ Don't listen to them! Serve the king of Babylon and you'll live. Why should this city become a ruin?

⁸ "This is what the LORD Almighty, the God of Israel, says: 'Do not let the prophets or the mediums among you trick you. Do not even listen to your own dreams.

⁶ They have seen vanity and lying divination, that say: The LORD saith; and the LORD hath not sent them, yet they hope that the word would be confirmed!

²³ Therefore you shall no more see false visions, nor practice divination. I will deliver my people out of your hand. Then you will know that I am the LORD.'”

²⁸ '"Her prophets have smeared whitewash for them. They see false visions and divine lies for them. They say: "This is what the Sovereign LORD says, when the LORD has not spoken."

¹¹ If a man walking in a spirit of falsehood lies: "I will prophesy to you of wine and of strong drink;" he would be the prophet of this people.

¹⁵ Beware of false prophets. They come to you in sheep’s clothing, but inwardly they are ravenous wolves.

²¹ Because, although they knew God, they did not glorify him as God or give him thanks, but their thinking became nonsense, and their foolish heart was darkened.

¹³ For such men are false apostles, deceitful workers, masquerading as apostles of Christ. ¹⁴ And no wonder, for Satan himself masquerades as an angel of light. ¹⁵ It is not surprising, then, if his servants masquerade as servants of righteousness. Their end will correspond to their actions.

⁸ But even if we or an angel from heaven should preach a gospel contrary to the one we preached to you, let him be under a divine curse! ⁹ As we have said before, so I say again now, if any one is preaching to you a gospel contrary to what you received, let him be accursed!

¹ Beloved, do not believe every spirit, but test the spirits to see whether they are from God: because many false prophets have gone out into the world.

²⁰ but a whole month, until it comes out at your nostrils, and it is loathsome to you; because you have rejected the LORD who is among you, and have wept before him, saying, “Why did we come out of Egypt?”'”

¹⁹ because when such a person hears the words of this oath, he will bless himself and say: 'I will have a peaceful life, even though I'm determined to be stubborn.' By doing this he will be sweeping away both watered and parched ground alike.'

³⁰ Therefore the LORD the God of Israel says, 'I said indeed that your house, and the house of your father, should walk before Me forever'. But now the LORD says, 'Far be it from Me. Those who honour Me I will honour, and those who despise Me shall be despised.

¹⁰ Now therefore the sword will never depart from your house, because you have despised me, and have taken the wife of Uriah the Hittite to be your wife.'

¹⁰ Say you to the righteous, that it shall be well with him: for they shall eat the fruit of their deeds. ¹¹ Woe to the wicked. Disaster is upon them; for the work of his hands will be done to him.

²¹ "There is no peace," says my God, "for the wicked."

¹⁷ At that time they will call Jerusalem 'The Throne of the LORD,' and all the nations will be gathered to it, to the name of the LORD, to Jerusalem, and they will no longer go after the stubbornness of their evil heart.

¹⁰ Then I said, Ah, Sovereign LORD! Surely You have greatly deceived this people and Jerusalem, saying, You shall have peace; but the sword reaches to the soul.

¹² They lied about the LORD. They said: "It is not he, bad things will not happen to us. We will not see sword or famine."

¹⁴ They have healed also the hurt of my people slightly, saying, Peace, peace; when there is no peace.

²⁴ But they did not listen, nor bow their ear, but walked in their own plans, in the stubbornness of their evil heart, and went backward and not forward.

¹¹ They have treated my people's wound superficially, telling them, 'Peace, peace, when there is no peace.'

¹⁴ »They have walked after the stubbornness of their heart and after the Baals as their fathers taught them.

¹⁰ This evil people, who refuse to hear my words, who walk in the stubbornness of their heart, and go after other gods, to serve them and to worship them, shall even be as this girdle which is good for nothing.

¹³ I said: "Alas, O Sovereign LORD, prophets are telling them: 'You will not see wars or famines, for I will give you lasting peace in this place." ¹⁴ Then the LORD told me, "The prophets are prophesying lies in my name. I didn't send them, I didn't command them, and I didn't speak to them. They're proclaiming to you false visions, worthless predictions, and the delusions of their own minds.

¹⁸ Then they said, “Come! Let's devise plans against Jeremiah; for the law won't perish from the priest, nor counsel from the wise, nor the word from the prophet. Come, and let's strike him with the tongue, and let's not give heed to any of his words.”

³ and within two years I'll bring back to this place all the vessels of the LORD's temple that Nebuchadnezzar king of Babylon took from this place and carried to Babylon. ⁴ I will bring again to this place Jeconiah the son of Jehoiakim, king of Judah, with all the captives of Judah, who went to Babylon,' says the LORD; 'for I will break the yoke of the king of Babylon.'” ⁵ Then the prophet Jeremiah said to the prophet Hananiah, before the priests and all the people who had come into the house of the Lord, ⁶ even the prophet Jeremiah said, Amen. May the LORD do so. May the LORD confirm your words which you have prophesied, to bring again the vessels of the LORD's house, and all that is exiled from Babylon into this place. ⁷ But please listen to this what I'm speaking in your hearing and in the hearing of all the people. ⁸ The prophets who came before us from ancient times prophesied war, famine, and plague against many lands and great kingdoms. ⁹ "A prophet who predicts peace can only be recognized as a prophet whom the LORD has truly sent when that prophet's predictions come true."

¹⁴ Your prophets had a vision for you, false and worthless; they have not exposed your sin, to restore your fortune; they have seen oracles for you, false and misleading.

¹⁰ Because, yes, because they led my people astray, saying 'Peace!' And there is not peace. And when anyone builds a flimsy wall, look, they coat it with whitewash.

¹⁵ ‘»I will unleash my rage on the wall and on those who covered it up with paint. Then I will say to you: The wall is gone, and so are those who painted it. ¹⁶ the prophets of Israel who prophesy as to Jerusalem, and who see visions of peace for her. And there is no peace, declares the Sovereign LORD.

²² ‘»You have discouraged righteous people with your lies, even though I had not brought them any grief. You encouraged wicked people not to turn from their wicked ways to save their lives.

¹⁰ All the sinners of my people will die by the sword, who say, The evil will not overtake nor meet us.

⁵ Thus says the LORD concerning the prophets who lead my people astray; for those who feed their teeth, they proclaim, "Peace." and whoever doesn't provide for their mouths, they prepare war against him:

¹² And it shall be in that time I will search Jerusalem with lamps, and punish the men who are settled on their lees; who say in their heart, the LORD will not do good, nor will He do evil.

² For the teraphim have spoken vanity, and the diviners have seen a lie, and the dreams speak falsely, they comfort in vain; therefore they go their way like sheep, they are afflicted, because there is no shepherd.

⁶ "A son honors his father, and a servant his master. If I am a father, then where is my honor? And if I am a master, where is the respect due me? says the LORD of hosts to you, priests, who despise my name. You say, 'How have we despised your name?'

¹⁶ He who listens to you listens to me, he who rejects you rejects me, and he who rejects me rejects him who sent me."

⁸ Therefore, he who rejects this instruction does not reject man but God, who gives you his Holy Spirit.

²⁴ Then Zedekiah son of Kenaanah came near and slapped Micaiah on the cheek and said, "When did the Spirit of the LORD pass from me to speak with you?"

²³ Then Zedekiah the son of Kenaanah came near and struck Micaiah on the cheek and said, "Which way did the Spirit of the LORD come from me to speak to you?"

⁸ "Have you heard God's council? Do you limit wisdom to yourself? ⁹ "What do you know that we do not know? What insights do you have that we do not have? ¹⁰ "The gray-haired and the aged are on our side, men even older than your father.

¹⁴ The Lord is the strength of them who fear him; and it is his covenant to display it for them.

¹³ Who has understood the mind of the LORD, or has instructed him, as his counselor? ¹⁴ Whom did the LORD consult to enlighten him? Who taught him the right way? Who was it that taught him knowledge or showed him the path of understanding?

²² But if they had stood in my council, then they would have proclaimed my words to my people, and they would have caused them to turn from their evil way, and from the evil of their deeds.

⁷ "The Sovereign LORD will do nothing without revealing his secrets to his servants the prophets.

¹⁵ I no longer call you servants, because the servant knows not what his master does. But I have called you friends; for all things that I have heard from my Father, I have made known to you.

¹⁶ For who has known the mind of the Lord, that he may instruct him? But we have the mind of Christ.

⁹ Before your pots can feel the heat of a thornbush, whether green or dry, he will sweep it away.

²⁷ when calamity overtakes you like a storm, when your disaster comes on like a whirlwind, when distress and anguish come on you.

²⁵ When the whirlwind passes, the wicked is no more; but the righteous stand firm forever.

²⁵ Therefore the LORD's anger burns against his people, and he has stretched out his hand against them, and has struck them. The mountains tremble, and their dead bodies are as refuse in the midst of the streets. For all this, his anger is not turned away, but his hand is still stretched out. ²⁶ He will lift up a banner to the nations from far, and he will whistle for them from the end of the earth. Look, they will come speedily and swiftly. ²⁷ None of them grow tired or stumble. None of them slumber or sleep. The belts on their waists are not loose or their sandal straps broken. ²⁸ whose arrows are sharp, and all their bows bent; their horses' hoofs seem like flint, and their wheels like a whirlwind.

¹ The burden concerning the desert by the sea. As whirlwinds in the south pass through; so it comes from the desert, from a terrible land.

²⁴ No sooner are they planted, no sooner are they sown, no sooner do they take root in the ground, than he blows on them and they wither, and a whirlwind sweeps them away like chaff.

¹⁵ For behold, the LORD will come with fire, and his chariots like a whirlwind, to render his anger with fury, and his rebuke with flames of fire. ¹⁶ For by fire and by His sword the LORD will execute judgment with all flesh; and the slain of the LORD will be many.

¹¹ At that time, it will be said to this people and to Jerusalem, "A scorching wind from the barren heights in the desert is coming toward my people, and it's not for winnowing or cleansing.

³² "This is what the LORD Almighty says: 'Disaster is spreading from nation to nation. A great storm is brewing from the distant corners of the earth.

²³ The storm of the LORD will come with his anger. Like a driving wind, it will swirl down on the heads of the wicked.

¹⁴ Therefore I will kindle a fire in the walls of Rabbah, that shall consume her palaces: with a great cry, in the day of battle, in tempest and in the day of storm.

³ the LORD is slow to anger, and great in power, and doth not at all clear [the guilty]: the LORD, -- his way is in the whirlwind and in the storm, and the clouds are the dust of his feet. ⁴ He rebukes the sea and he dries up the rivers; he makes all the rivers run dry. Bashan and Carmel wither; the blossom of Lebanon languishes. ⁵ The mountains quake before him, and the hills melt away. The earth trembles at his presence, yes, the world, and all who dwell in it. ⁶ His indignation—who can stand before it? Who can endure his fierce anger? His wrath is poured out like fire; rocks are shattered before him.

¹⁴ Then the LORD will appear over them, and his arrow will go forth like lightning; and my Sovereign LORD will blow the trumpet, and he shall go out in the storm winds of the south.

¹ Then Jacob called his sons and said, "Gather together so that I can tell you what will happen with you in days to come.

²⁹ For I know that after my death you will become utterly corrupt, and turn aside from the way which I have commanded you. And evil will happen to you in the latter end of the days, because you will do evil in the sight of the LORD, to provoke Him to anger through the work of your hands. ³⁰ And Moses spoke all the words of this song even to the end, in the ears of the whole assembly.

⁴⁷ yet if they shall think within themselves in the land where they are carried captives, and repent, and pray to You in the land of their captors saying, We have sinned and have done perversely, we have done wickedly,

²⁶ Even so, the LORD did not turn away from his fierce and great anger that burned against Judah because of everything with which Manasseh had provoked him.

¹¹ and you groan at your end, when your flesh and body are consumed, ¹² And you say, How I have hated discipline, And my heart has spurned correction!" ¹³ I did not obey my teachers and did not listen to my instructors. ¹⁴ I have come to the brink of utter ruin, in the midst of the gathered assembly."

³⁰ There is no wisdom nor understanding nor counsel against the LORD.

²⁴ the LORD Almighty has sworn, saying, Surely as I have thought, so it shall come to pass; and as I have purposed, it shall stand;

¹¹ so is my word that goes out from my mouth: It will not return to me empty, but will accomplish what I desire and achieve the purpose for which I sent it.

²⁴ The fierce anger of the LORD won't turn back until he has accomplished and established the plan of his heart. In the days to come, you will understand this.

⁶ However, did not my words and my regulations which I commanded my servants the prophets overtake your ancestors? And they repented and said, 'the LORD of hosts planned to do with us according to our ways, and according to our deeds so he has dealt with us.'" '"

¹⁴ the LORD Almighty said: "I thought to do evil to you, when your fathers provoked me to anger. I have not relented," Said the LORD Almighty. ¹⁵ so again I have planned in these days to do good to Jerusalem and the house of Judah. Do not be afraid!

⁸ And I heard the voice of the Lord, saying, Whom shall I send, and who will go for us? And I said, Here am I: send me.

¹⁵ For I have not sent them," declares the LORD, "but they are prophesying in my name falsely, so that I will drive them away. And you will perish—you and the prophets who are prophesying to you."

¹⁵ Then the prophet Jeremiah said to Hananiah the prophet, Hear now, Hananiah, the LORD has not sent you, but you have made this people trust in a lie.

⁹ For they are prophesying falsely to you in my name; I have not sent them,' declares the LORD.

³¹ "Send a message to all the exiles: 'This is what the LORD says about Shemaiah from Nehelam, "Because Shemaiah has prophesied to you, even though I didn't send him, and has made you trust a lie,"

²¹ Again Jesus said to them, “Peace be with you. As the Father has sent Me, so also I am sending you.”

⁴ Being sent out in this way by the holy Spirit, they went down to Seleucia and sailed from there to Cyprus.

¹⁵ And how can they preach unless they are sent? As it is written: “How beautiful are the feet of those who bring good news!”

¹⁸ For which of them hath stood in the council of the Lord and seen? who hath hearkened and heard his voice?"

⁵ Turn, everyone of you, from his evil way, and from your evil practices, and you shall dwell in the land which I gave to you and your fathers, forever and ever.

¹⁵ I have also sent to you all My servants the prophets, rising up early and sending, saying, Each man now return from his evil way, and amend your doings, and do not go after other gods to serve them, and you shall live in the land which I have given to you and to your fathers. But you have not bowed your ear, nor listened to Me.

³ "Maybe the nation of Judah will hear about all the disasters that I devise to bring on them, and they will turn from their wicked ways. Then I will forgive their wickedness and their sins."

⁷ And you must speak my words to them whether they listen or whether they fail to listen, for they are rebellious.

¹⁷ Son of man, I have made you a watchman to the house of Israel: therefore hear the word at my mouth, and give them warning from me.

³⁰ Therefore I will judge you, O house of Israel, each one according to his ways, says the Sovereign LORD. Return and turn yourselves from all your transgressions, so iniquity will not be your ruin.

⁴ "Do not be like your ancestors, to whom the former prophets proclaimed, saying, 'Thus says the LORD of hosts: "Return from your evil ways and your evil deeds!" ' But they did not hear and they did not pay attention to me," declares the LORD.

²⁷ For I did not hesitate to declare to you the whole counsel of God.

¹⁸ to open their eyes, so that they may turn from darkness to light and from the power of Satan to God, that they may receive forgiveness of sins and a place among those who are sanctified by faith in me.' ¹⁹ So, then, King Agrippa, I did not go against the vision from heaven; ²⁰ but to those in Damascus first, and in Jerusalem and all the region of Judea and to the Gentiles, I proclaimed that they should repent and turn to God, doing deeds worthy of repentance.

⁹ For they themselves report what kind of welcome you gave us, and how you turned away from idols to serve the living and true God ¹⁰ and to wait for His Son from heaven, whom He raised from the dead, Jesus, who delivers us from the coming wrath.

⁶ So then let us not be sleeping as do the rest, but let us be watchful and self-controlled.

²³ The servants of the king of Aram said to him, "Their gods are gods of the mountains, therefore they were stronger than we. Let us fight with them in the plain; surely we will be stronger than they.

²⁸ A man of God came to the king of Israel. He said: "the LORD says, 'Because the Aramaeans have said, "the LORD is a god of the hills and not of the valleys; I will give all this great army into your hands, and you will see that I am the LORD."'"

⁵ Who is like the LORD our God, who is enthroned on high,

¹ For the music director. Of David. A psalm. O LORD, you have searched me, and you know me. ² You know when I sit down and when I rise up. You understand my thought from afar. ³ Thou measurest my going about and my lying down, and art acquainted with all my ways. ⁴ For not a word is on my tongue, but, lo, O LORD, You know it all. ⁵ You hem me in behind and before, You have laid Your hand on me. ⁶ Such knowledge is too wonderful for me; too high, I cannot attain unto it. ⁷ Where can I go from your Spirit? Or where can I flee from your presence? ⁸ If I go up to heaven, you are there: or if I make my bed in the underworld, you are there. ⁹ If I lift up the wings of the dawn, and I alight on the far side of the sea, ¹⁰ even there your hand will lead me, and your right hand will hold me.

³² And it shall not be as ye say, We will be as the nations, and as the tribes of the earth, to worship stocks and stones. ³³ '"As I am alive,' declares the Sovereign LORD, 'I will rule you with a mighty hand and a powerful arm. I will pour out my fury. ³⁴ And I will bring you out from among the peoples and gather you from the countries where you have been scattered with a strong hand and an up lifted arm and with out poured wrath. ³⁵ I will bring you into the wilderness of the peoples, and there I will enter into judgment with you face to face.

³ But Jonah got up and fled from the LORD to Tarshish. He went down to Joppa, and secured passage on a ship bound for Tarshish. He paid the fare and boarded, intending to go with the mariners to Tarshish to escape from the LORD. ⁴ Then the LORD sent a great wind over the sea, and a severe storm broke out. It seemed as if the ship were about to break up.

¹³ She called the name of the LORD, who spoke to her: "You are the God who sees me, for she said, 'I have not seen the one who sees me.'"

²⁷ But will God indeed dwell on the earth? Behold, heaven and the heaven of heavens cannot contain you. How much less this house that I have built!

⁶ But who is able to build him a house, seeing the heaven and the heaven of heavens cannot contain him? who am I then, that I should build him a house, except only to burn sacrifices before him?

¹⁸ "But will God indeed dwell with men on the earth? Look, heaven and the highest heaven can't contain you; how much less this house which I have built.

¹³ Yet you say, What does El know? Can He judge through murkiness? ¹⁴ "'Thick clouds enwrap him, so that he does not see, and he walks on the dome of the heavens.'"

¹³ These are of those who rebel against the light. They don't know its ways, nor stay in its paths. ¹⁴ With the light, riseth the murderer, He slayeth the poor and needy, And, in the night, he becometh like a thief. ¹⁵ And the eye of the adulterer waits for dusk, saying, 'No eye will see me,' and he places a covering on his face. ¹⁶ In the dark they dig through houses; by day they shut themselves in; they know not the light:

¹¹ He says in his heart, "God has forgotten. He has hidden his face. He never sees."

⁸ You have set our iniquities before you, our secret sins in the light of your presence.

⁷ Where can I go from your Spirit? Or where can I flee from your presence?

¹¹ If I say: Surely the darkness shall cover me; even the night shall be light around me. ¹² even the darkness doesn’t hide from you, but the night shines as the day. The darkness is like light to you. ¹³ For you formed my inmost being. You knit me together in my mother's womb. ¹⁴ I praise you, because I am fearfully and wonderfully made. Wonderful are your works, and my soul knows it well. ¹⁵ My frame wasn’t hidden from you, when I was made in secret, woven together in the depths of the earth. ¹⁶ Your eyes saw my embryo and all were written in your book; the days ordained for me. Even this before one had taken place.

¹³ Let them praise the name of the LORD: for his name alone is exalted; his majesty is above the earth and the heavens.

³ The eyes of the LORD are everywhere, keeping watch on the evil and the good.

¹⁵ Woe to those who go deep to hide their purpose from the LORD! And their works are in the dark, and they say, Who sees us? And who knows us?

¹⁵ For thus says the high and lofty one who resides forever, and whose name is holy: "I reside in a high and holy place, and with the contrite and humble of spirit, to revive the spirit of the humble, and to revive the heart of the contrite.

¹ the LORD says, “Heaven is my throne, and the earth is my footstool. What kind of house will you build to me? Where will I rest?

¹⁰ But I'll strip Esau bare. I'll uncover his hiding places so he cannot conceal himself. His offspring, his relatives, and his neighbors will be destroyed, and he will no longer exist.

¹² Then He said to me, Son of man, have you seen what the elders of the house of Israel are doing in the dark, every man in his rooms of images? They say, 'the LORD doesn't see us; the LORD has forsaken the land'.

⁹ Then he said to me, "The iniquity of the house of Israel and Judah is exceedingly great, and the land is full of blood, and the city full of perversion: for they say, 'The LORD has forsaken the land, and the LORD doesn't see.'

³⁵ And all the people of the earth are as nothing: he does his pleasure in the army of heaven and among the people of the earth: and no one is able to keep back his hand, or say to him, What are you doing?

² Though they dig into Sheol, from there my hand will take them and though they climb up to heaven, from there I will bring them down. ³ Though they hide themselves in the top of Carmel, I will search and take them out there; and though they be hid from my sight in the bottom of the sea, there I will command the serpent, and it will bite them.

²³ which is his body, the fullness of the one who fills everything in every way.

⁵ Joseph dreamed a dream, and he told it to his brothers, and they hated him all the more.

⁹ Joseph had another dream and told his brothers: "I had another dream, in which I saw the sun, the moon, and eleven stars bowing down to me."

⁶ He said: "Listen to my words: 'When there are prophets of the LORD among you, I make myself known to them in visions or speak to them in dreams.

² You know when I sit down and when I rise up. You understand my thought from afar.

⁴ For not a word is on my tongue, but, lo, O LORD, You know it all.

⁶ I listened and heard, but they didn’t say what is right. No one repents of his wickedness, saying, “What have I done?” Everyone turns to his course, as a horse that rushes headlong in the battle.

²⁷ I see your adulteries and your neighings - the intrigue of your whoredom and your abominations on the hills in the fields! Woe to you, O Yeru Shalem! Purify you not yourselves? Until when?

¹⁷ For my eyes are on all their ways; they are not hidden from my face, neither is their iniquity concealed from my eyes.

²⁸ Let the prophet who has a dream relate the dream, but let whoever receives my word speak my word truthfully. What does straw have in common with wheat?" declares the LORD.

²⁸ “It will happen afterward, that I will pour out my Spirit on all flesh; and your sons and your daughters will prophesy. Your old men will dream dreams. Your young men will see visions.

²⁰ But after he had pondered these things, an angel of the Lord appeared to him in a dream and said, “Joseph, son of David, do not be afraid to take Mary as your wife, for the One conceived in her is from the Holy Spirit.

³ What you have spoken in the dark will be heard in the daylight, and what you have whispered in the inner rooms will be proclaimed from the housetops.

⁵ Therefore judge nothing before the proper time; wait until the Lord comes. He will bring to light what is hidden in darkness and will expose the motives of men’s hearts. At that time each will receive his praise from God.

¹³ Nothing in all creation is hidden from God’s sight; everything is uncovered and exposed before the eyes of Him to whom we must give account.

²³ Then I will strike her children dead, and all the churches will know that I am the One who searches minds and hearts, and I will repay each of you according to your deeds.

² O you sons of men, how long will you turn my glory into shame? how long will you love vanity, and seek after falsehood? Selah.

¹⁰ That say to the seers: 'See not,' and to the prophets: 'Prophesy not unto us right things, speak unto us smooth things, prophesy delusions;

¹⁴ "O Jerusalem, wash the evil from your heart so that you may be saved. How long will your wicked thoughts lodge within you?

⁹ The heart is deceitful above all things, and incurable; who can know it?

⁵ Your calf is rejected, O Samaria; my anger burns against them. How long will they be incapable of innocence?

¹⁰ and said, “O child of the devil and enemy of all righteousness! You are full of all kinds of deceit and trickery. Will you never stop perverting the straight ways of the Lord?

¹ Now the Spirit expressly states that in later times some will abandon the faith to follow deceitful spirits and the teachings of demons, ² through the pretensions of liars, whose consciences have been seared as with a hot iron, ³ For the time will come when men will not tolerate sound doctrine, but with itching ears they will gather around themselves teachers to suit their own desires.

¹³ The harm they will suffer is the wages of their wickedness. They consider it a pleasure to carouse in broad daylight. They are blots and blemishes, reveling in their deception as they feast with you. ¹⁴ They have eyes full of adultery, that never cease from sin; they entice unstable souls. They have hearts trained in greed. Accursed children! ¹⁵ They have left the straight way and wandered off to follow the way of Balaam son of Bosor, who loved the wages of wickedness. ¹⁶ but he was rebuked for his own transgression by a donkeya beast without speechwho spoke with a man's voice and restrained the prophet's madness.

¹ If a prophet or a dreamer of dreams arises among you, and he gives you a sign or a wonder, ² and the sign or the wonder which he foretold to you occurs, saying, Let us go after other gods which you have not known, and let us serve them, ³ you shall not listen to the words of that prophet or that dreamer of dreams. For the LORD your God is testing you to know whether you love the LORD your God with all your heart and with all your soul. ⁴ You must follow the LORD your God, fear him, observe his commandments, listen to his voice, serve him, and cling to him. ⁵ That prophet or diviner of dreams must be executed, because he advocated rebellion against the LORD your God, who brought you from the land of Egypt and redeemed you from the house of slavery, and because he lured you from the way in which the LORD your God instructed you to live. Purge the evil from among you."

⁷ The Israelites did evil in the eyes of the LORD. They forgot the LORD their God, and they served the Baals and the Asheroth.

³³ Later on, as soon as Gideon was dead, the Israelites again committed spiritual adultery with the Baals, and appointed Baal-berith to be their god. ³⁴ and thought not on the LORD their God which had delivered them out of the hands of all their enemies on every side.

⁶ The people of Israel again did what was evil in the sight of the LORD, and served the Baals and Ashtaroth, the gods of Syria, the gods of Sidon, the gods of Moab, the gods of the Ammonites and the gods of the Philistines; they forsook the LORD and didn't serve Him.

³ He rebuilt the high places that his father Hezekiah had destroyed. He erected altars for Baal, crafted an Asherah, just as King Ahab of Israel had done, and worshipped and served the stars of heaven.

⁸ But Elymas the sorcerer (for that is what his name means) opposed them and tried to turn the proconsul from the faith.

¹⁷ and their talk will spread like gangrene. Among them are Hymenaeus and Philetus, ¹⁸ who have gone astray from the truth. They say that the resurrection has already taken place, and upset the faith of some.

⁶ They are the kind of people who enter homes and influence [morally] weak-willed women, loaded down with sins, [and] led on by all kinds of evil desires. ⁷ Ever learning, but never able to acknowledge the truth. ⁸ Just as Jannes and Jambres opposed Moses, so also these oppose the truth—men of depraved mind, disqualified as regards the faith—

⁵ A truthful witness will not lie, but a false witness pours out lies.

⁴⁵ Who then is the faithful and wise servant, whom the master has put in charge of his household, to give the others their food at the proper time?

⁴² And the Lord answered, “Who then is the faithful and wise manager, whom the master puts in charge of his servants to give them their portion at the proper time?

¹² If anyone builds on this foundation using gold, silver, precious stones, wood, hay, or straw, ¹³ his workmanship will be evident, because the Day will bring it to light. It will be revealed with fire, and the fire will prove the quality of each man’s work.

² Now it is required in stewards, that a man be found faithful.

¹⁷ For we are not like so many others, who peddle the word of God for profit. On the contrary, in Christ we speak before God with sincerity, as men sent from God.

¹² I thank Christ Jesus our Lord, who has given me strength, because he considered me faithful, appointing me to his service.

¹⁴ Therefore thus hath the LORD God of the hosts said: Because ye have spoken this word, behold, I will make my words in thy mouth fire and this people wood, and it shall devour them.

⁹ If I say, I will not make mention of him, or speak any more in his name, then there is in my heart as it were a burning fire shut up in my bones. I am weary with holding it in. I can’t.

³² They asked one another, “Were not our hearts burning within us as He spoke with us on the road and opened the Scriptures to us?”

⁶³ The Spirit gives life; the flesh profits nothing. The words I have spoken to you are spirit and they are life.

³ They saw tongues like flames of a fire that separated and came to rest on each of them.

³⁷ When the people heard this, they were cut to the heart and asked Peter and the other apostles, “Brothers, what shall we do?”

¹⁶ To the one we are the aroma of death to death; and to the other the aroma of life to life. And who is equal to such a calling?

⁴ The weapons of our warfare are not the weapons of the world. Instead, they have divine power to demolish strongholds. ⁵ We demolish arguments and every pretension that sets itself up against the knowledge of God, and we take captive every thought to make it obedient to Christ,

¹² For the word of God is living and active. Sharper than any double-edged sword, it pierces even to dividing soul and spirit, joints and marrow. It is able to judge the thoughts and intentions of the heart.

⁵ If anyone wants to harm them, fire proceeds from their mouths and devours their enemies. In this way, anyone who wants to harm them must be killed.

³ And I will set my face against that man, and will cut him off from among his people; because he has given of his children unto Molech, to defile my sanctuary, and to profane my holy name.

¹⁷ I will set my face against you, and you will be struck before your enemies. Those who hate you will rule over you; and you will flee when no one pursues you.

²⁰ But the prophet who presumes to speak a word in My name, that which I have not commanded him to speak, and who speaks in the name of other gods, even that prophet shall die.

²⁰ the LORD will never be willing to forgive him, but rather the anger of the LORD and / His jealousy will burn against that man. Every curse which is written in this book will rest on him. the LORD will blot out his name from under heaven.

¹⁶ The face of the LORD is against those who do evil, to cut off the memory of them from the earth.

¹⁴ Then the LORD told me, "The prophets are prophesying lies in my name. I didn't send them, I didn't command them, and I didn't speak to them. They're proclaiming to you false visions, worthless predictions, and the delusions of their own minds. ¹⁵ Therefore the LORD says concerning the prophets who prophesy in my name, but I didn't send them, yet they say, 'Sword and famine will not be in this land.' Those prophets will be consumed by sword and famine.

¹¹ Therefore thus says the LORD Almighty, the God of Israel: 'Look, I am determined to bring disaster on you, even to exterminate all Judah.

²⁹ This will be a sign to you,' declares the LORD, 'that I'll punish you in this place so that you may know that my words concerning disaster against you will surely stand.'

⁸ '"Therefore, the Sovereign LORD says: '"Because you have spoken falsehood and seen a lie, therefore behold, I am against you,' declares the Sovereign LORD."

²⁰ "This is what the Sovereign LORD says: 'I am against the magic charms that you use to trap people like birds. I will tear them from your arms and free the people that you have trapped.

⁷ I will set my face against them (turn against them). Though they have come out of the fire, yet the fire will consume them. Then you will know that I am the LORD, when I set my face against them.’«

¹² For the eyes of the Lord are on the righteous and his ears are open to their prayer, but the face of the Lord is against those who do evil."

⁵ And the king of Israel assembled the prophets, four hundred men, and said to them, Shall we go against Ramoth-Gilead to battle, or shall I forbear? And they said, Go up, and God will give it into the king`s hand.

¹⁰ One of them, Zedekiah son of Chenaanah, made iron horns and said to Ahab: This is what the LORD says: "With these you will fight the Syrians and totally defeat them." ¹¹ And all the prophets prophesied so, saying, Go up to Ramoth-Gilead, and prosper; for the LORD will give it into the king`s hand. ¹² The official who had gone to get Micaiah said to him: All the other prophets have prophesied success for the king. You had better do the same.

¹⁹ And the LORD said, 'Who will entice Ahab the king of Israel that he would go up and fall at Ramoth-Gilead?' And one said this, and another said that. ²⁰ A spirit came out, stood before the LORD, and said, 'I will entice him.' "The LORD said to him, 'How?' ²¹ “He said, 'I will go, and will be a lying spirit in the mouth of all his prophets.' “He said, 'You will entice him, and will prevail also. Go and do so.'

¹ If a prophet or a dreamer of dreams arises among you, and he gives you a sign or a wonder, ² and the sign or the wonder which he foretold to you occurs, saying, Let us go after other gods which you have not known, and let us serve them, ³ you shall not listen to the words of that prophet or that dreamer of dreams. For the LORD your God is testing you to know whether you love the LORD your God with all your heart and with all your soul. ⁴ You must follow the LORD your God, fear him, observe his commandments, listen to his voice, serve him, and cling to him. ⁵ That prophet or diviner of dreams must be executed, because he advocated rebellion against the LORD your God, who brought you from the land of Egypt and redeemed you from the house of slavery, and because he lured you from the way in which the LORD your God instructed you to live. Purge the evil from among you." ⁶ "If your brother, your mother's son, or your son or daughter, or the wife you cherish, or your very best friend tries to secretly entice you, saying: 'Let us go and serve other gods, gods neither you nor your fathers have known, ⁷ Gods of the peoples round about you, near or far, from one end of the earth to the other; ⁸ neither will to him nor hearken to him; your eye neither pity him nor spare him nor cover for him: ⁹ but you must surely kill him. Your hand shall be first on him to put him to death, and afterwards the hand of all the people. ¹⁰ Stone him to death, because he sought to lure you from the LORD your God who brought you from the land of Egypt, from the land of slavery. ¹¹ »All Israel will hear and be afraid, and will never again do such a wicked thing among you. ¹² "You may hear in one of your towns that the LORD your God is giving you to inhabit ¹³ some worthless men have gone out from among you and have mislead the inhabitants of their city, saying: Let us go and serve other gods you have not known. ¹⁴ then you shall inquire and make search, and ask carefully; and, behold, if the thing is truly established, that this abominable thing has been done among you, ¹⁵ Then take up arms against the people of that town and give it up to the curse, with all its cattle and everything in it. ¹⁶ "Gather all its treasure into the middle of its open square and burn the city and all its treasure with fire as a whole burnt offering to the LORD your God. It shall be a ruin forever. It shall never be rebuilt. ¹⁷ Nothing of the devoted thing shall cling to your hand; that the LORD may turn from the fierceness of his anger, and show you mercy, and have compassion on you, and multiply you, as he has sworn to your fathers; ¹⁸ if you obey the voice of the LORD your God by observing all his commands that I'm commanding you today. Do what is right in the sight of the LORD your God."

¹² Children oppress my people! Women rule over them. O My people! Those who guide you lead you astray. They confuse the direction of your paths.

⁸ "Look, you're trusting in deceptive words that cannot benefit.

¹⁶ This is what the LORD Almighty says: "Do not listen to what the prophets are saying to you. They fill you with false hope. They speak about visions that they dreamed up. These visions are not from the LORD.

²¹ I did not send these prophets, but they ran of themselves; I did not speak to them, yet they prophesied. ²² But if they had stood in my council, then they would have proclaimed my words to my people, and they would have caused them to turn from their evil way, and from the evil of their deeds.

²⁵ "I have heard what the prophets have said who prophesy falsely in my name. They say: 'I had a dream! I had a dream!"

¹⁴ Don't listen to the words of the prophets who say to you, 'You won't serve the king of Babylon. Indeed, they're prophesying a lie to you. ¹⁵ For I have not sent them," declares the LORD, "but they are prophesying in my name falsely, so that I will drive them away. And you will perish—you and the prophets who are prophesying to you." ¹⁶ I also spoke this message to the priests and all the people. This is what the LORD said to me: "Do not listen to the prophets who tell you that the utensils of the LORD's Temple will be brought back from Babylon soon. Why should this city become a ruin? ¹⁸ But if they are prophets, and if the Word of the LORD is with them, let them now pray to the LORD Almighty, that the vessels which are left in the house of the LORD, and in the house of the king of Judah, and at Jerusalem, may not go to Babylon. ¹⁹ For this is what the LORD of the Heavenly Armies says about the pillars, the bronze sea, the stands, and the rest of the vessels that remain in this city ²⁰ which Nebuchadnezzar king of Babylon did not take when he exiled Jeconiah the son of Jehoiakim king of Judah from Jerusalem to Babylon, and all the nobles of Judah and Jerusalem; ²¹ For thus says the LORD Almighty, the God of Israel, concerning the vessels that are left in the house of the LORD, and in the house of the king of Judah, and in Jerusalem: ²² "They will be carried to Babylon and they will be there until the day I visit them," declares the LORD. "Then I will bring them back and restore them to this place."’"

¹⁵ Then the prophet Jeremiah said to Hananiah the prophet, Hear now, Hananiah, the LORD has not sent you, but you have made this people trust in a lie. ¹⁶ Therefore, this is what the LORD says: 'I'm about to remove you from the face of the earth. This year you will die because you have preached rebellion against the LORD.'" ¹⁷ And Hananiah died the same year in the seventh month.

²¹ so says the LORD Almighty, the God of Israel, about Ahab the son of Kolaiah and of Zedekiah the son of Maaseiah, who prophesy a lie to you in My name: Behold, I will deliver them into the hand of Nebuchadnezzar king of Babylon, and he shall kill them before your eyes. ²² 'Because of them, all the captives from Judah who are in Babylon will use this curse: "May the LORD curse you as he cursed Zedekiah and Ahab, whom the king of Babylon burned to death." ²³ because they did something stupid in Israel. They committed adultery with their neighbors' wives, and in my name they spoke lies that I didn't command them. I'm the one who knows, and I'm a witness," declares the LORD.'"

⁷ Did you not see a vain vision and speak a lying divination? Yet you say, the LORD declares, though I have not spoken. ⁸ '"Therefore, the Sovereign LORD says: '"Because you have spoken falsehood and seen a lie, therefore behold, I am against you,' declares the Sovereign LORD." ⁹ “My hand will be against the prophets who see false visions and who utter lying divinations. They will not be in the council of my people, neither will they be written in the writing of the house of Israel, neither will they enter into the land of Israel. Then you will know that I am the Sovereign LORD.” ¹⁰ Because, yes, because they led my people astray, saying 'Peace!' And there is not peace. And when anyone builds a flimsy wall, look, they coat it with whitewash. ¹¹ »So tell those who plaster it over with whitewash, that it will fall. A flooding rain will come, and you, O hailstones, will fall; and a violent wind will break out. ¹² And when the wall has come down, will they not say to you, Where is the whitewash which you put on it? ¹³ "This is what the Sovereign LORD says: 'In my fury I will cause a storm to break out. In my anger rain will pour down, and hailstones will destroy the wall. ¹⁴ '"I will tear down the wall that the prophets covered up with whitewash. I will level it and expose its foundation. When the wall falls, they will be destroyed by it. Then you will know that I am the LORD.' ¹⁵ ‘»I will unleash my rage on the wall and on those who covered it up with paint. Then I will say to you: The wall is gone, and so are those who painted it. ¹⁶ the prophets of Israel who prophesy as to Jerusalem, and who see visions of peace for her. And there is no peace, declares the Sovereign LORD. ¹⁷ You, son of man, set your face against the daughters of your people, who prophesy out of their own heart; and prophesy against them, ¹⁸ "Tell them, 'This is what the Sovereign LORD says: "How horrible it will be for women who sew magic charms for people's wrists and make magic veils of every size for people's heads. You want to trap people. You want to control the lives of my people for your own profit.

² And it shall be in that day, I will cut off the names of the idols out of the land, and they shall be remembered no more, says the LORD of hosts. And I also will cause the prophets and the unclean spirit to pass out of the land. ³ It will happen that, when anyone still prophesies, then his father and his mother who bore him will tell him, ‘You must die, because you speak lies in the LORD’s name;’ and his father and his mother who bore him will stab him when he prophesies.

¹⁷ When I was planning this, did I do it lightly? Or do I make my plans in a fleshly manner so that in the same breath I say, "Yes, Yes" and "No, No"?

¹⁷ Then my anger will be kindled against them in that day and I will forsake them and I will hide my face from them and they will be devoured and many evils and troubles will come upon them, so that they will say in that day, Have not these evils come upon us because our God is not among us? ¹⁸ But I will certainly hide my face on that day, because of all of the evil that they did because they turned to other gods.

¹⁹ The LORD saw it and became jealous, provoked by his sons and daughters. ²⁰ He said, “I will hide my face from them. I will see what their end will be; for they are a very perverse generation, children in whom is no faithfulness.

² and he went out to meet Asa, and said to him, "Hear me, Asa, and all Judah and Benjamin. The LORD is with you, while you are with him; and if you seek him, he will be found by you; but if you forsake him, he will forsake you.

⁵⁹ God heard and he was very angry and rejected Israel utterly. ⁶⁰ And He leaveth the tabernacle of Shiloh, The tent He had placed among men,

²⁸ This burden was in the year king Ahaz died:

⁷ I'll forsake my house, I'll abandon my inheritance. I'll give the beloved of my heart into the hand of her enemies.

⁴ Perhaps the LORD your God will hear all of the words of the chief commander whom his master the king of Assyria has sent to insult the living God, and he will rebuke the words which the LORD your God has heard. Therefore lift up a prayer for the remainder who are left.'"

³ May the LORD cut off all flattering lips, and the tongue that boasts,

⁸ Their own tongues shall ruin them; all who see them will shake their heads.

³ What shall be given to you, and what more shall be done to you, deceitful tongue?

⁹ to carry out on them the judgment written; this is an honor for all His saints. Praise the LORD!

²⁰ One who has a perverse heart doesn't find prosperity, and one who has a deceitful tongue falls into trouble.

⁸ For stumbled bath Jerusalem, and, Judah, hath fallen,—Because, their tongue and their doings, are against the LORD, Provoking his glorious presence,

¹³ And to whom a word of the LORD hath been, Rule on rule, rule on rule, line on line, line on line, A little here, a little there, So that they go and have stumbled backward, And been broken, and snared, and captured. ¹⁴ Therefore hear the word of the LORD, you scoffers, that rule this people in Jerusalem:

²² And now you must not scoff, or your bonds will be strong, for I have heard from the Lord, the LORD Almighty: complete destruction decreed upon all the land.

¹⁰ But the LORD is the true God, he is the living God, and an everlasting king. Because of his wrath the earth quakes, and the nations cannot endure his anger.

³⁶ But I tell you that men will have to give account on the day of judgment for every careless word they have spoken.

²² He said to him, 'I will judge you out of your own mouth, you wicked servant! You knew that I was a hard man, taking up what I did not lay down and reaping what I did not sow?

¹⁵ “Men, why are you doing this? We too are only men, human like you. We are bringing you good news that you should turn from these worthless things to the living God, who made heaven and earth and sea and everything in them.

⁷ which is not even a gospel. Evidently some people are troubling you and trying to distort the gospel of Christ.

⁵ For each one should carry his own load.

⁹ For they themselves report what kind of welcome you gave us, and how you turned away from idols to serve the living and true God

¹⁷ These men are springs without water and mists driven by a storm. Blackest darkness is reserved for them. ¹⁸ With lofty but empty words, they appeal to the sensual passions of the flesh and entice the ones who are just escaping from those who live in error.

¹⁶ He writes the same way in all his letters, speaking in them of these matters. His letters contain some things that are hard to understand, which ignorant and unstable people distort, as they do the other Scriptures, to their own destruction.

¹⁵ to execute judgment on all, and to convict all the ungodly of all their ungodly deeds which they have done in an ungodly way, and of all the harsh things which ungodly sinners have spoken against him." ¹⁶ These men are grumblers and complainers, living according to their own evil desires; they talk big, flattering people to gain advantage.

¹³ The priests and Levites in every region of Israel aligned with Rehoboam. ¹⁴ The priests abandoned their land and property and went to Judah and Jerusalem because Jeroboam and his descendants rejected them as the LORD's priests.

¹⁷ "I am going to bring floodwaters on the earth to destroy all life under the heavens. Every creature that has the breath of life in it, everything on earth will perish.

²⁸ then I will go against you in hostile anger, and also I myself will discipline you seven times for your sins.

³⁹ See, now, that I, even I am he, and there is not a god besides me; I put to death and I give life; I wound and I heal; there is not one who delivers from my hand!

¹¹ Do not cast me from your presence; do not take your Holy Spirit from me.

¹³ Whoever despises instruction will pay for it, but he who respects a command will be rewarded.

¹⁵ I, even I, have spoken, yes, I have called him. I have brought him and he will make his way prosperous.

¹² "I, even I, am the one who comforts you. Who are you that you fear mortal men? The sons of men are like grass!

¹⁵ And I will drive you from my presence, as I have driven out your brethren, the whole seed of Ephraim.

³³ "Jeremiah, when these people, the prophet, or a priest ask you, 'What is the oracle of the LORD?' say to them, 'You are the burden, and I'll cast you out,'" declares the LORD.

²⁸ "This is what the LORD says: 'I am going to hand this city over to the Babylonians and King Nebuchadnezzar of Babylon. They will capture it. ²⁹ 'The Babylonians who are attacking this city will break in, set this city on fire, and burn it down. They will burn down the houses of people who made me furious by going up to the roofs to burn incense to Baal and to pour out wine offerings to other gods.' ³⁰ Indeed, the Israelites and Judeans have been doing only evil in my presence since their youth. Indeed, the Israelites have done nothing but provoke me by what they have made with their hands," declares the LORD. ³¹ "Indeed, this city has provoked me to anger and wrath from the day they built it until now, and so I'll remove it from my sight ³² The people of Israel and Judah have made me furious because they are evil. The people, their kings and officials, their priests and prophets, and the Judeans and those who live in Jerusalem ³³ have turned their backs, not their faces to me. I taught them again and again, but they refused to listen and learn. ³⁴ They put their detestable idols in the house that is called by my name and defiled it. ³⁵ They built the high places of Baal that are in the Hinnom Valley in order to sacrifice their sons and daughters to Molech something that I didn't command, nor did it ever enter my mind for them to require this utterly repugnant thing and lead Judah into sin."

¹⁷ "This is what the LORD Almighty, the God of Israel, says: 'I am going to bring on Judah and on all those who live in Jerusalem all the disasters that I threatened. I have spoken to them, but they did not listen. I called to them, but they did not answer.'"

³¹ I will punish him and his seed and his servants for their iniquity; and I will bring on them, and on the inhabitants of Jerusalem, and on the men of Judah, all the evil that I have pronounced against them, because they didn't listen.

³ For because of the anger of the LORD this happened in Jerusalem and Judah until his casting them from his presence. And Zedekiah rebelled against the king of Babylon.

²⁰ Why do you keep on forgetting us? Why do you forsake us so long?

⁸ therefore the Sovereign LORD says: 'Behold, I, even I, am against you; and I will execute judgments among you in the sight of the nations.

³ and say, You mountains of Israel, hear the word of the Sovereign LORD: Thus says the Sovereign LORD to the mountains and to the hills, to the rivers and to the valleys: Behold, I, even I, will bring a sword on you, and I will destroy your high places.

¹⁸ Therefore will I also deal with them in anger; My eye shall not spare, neither will I have pity; and though they cry in My ears with a loud voice, yet will I not hear them.

¹¹ For so says the Sovereign LORD: Behold, I Myself will search for My sheep and seek them out.

²⁰ Therefore thus says the Sovereign LORD to them: Behold, I, even I, will judge between the fat sheep and the lean sheep.

⁶ My people are destroyed for lack of knowledge. Because you have rejected knowledge, I will also reject you, that you may be no priest to Me. Because you have forgotten the law of your God, I will also forget your children.

¹⁴ For, I, will be as a lion unto Ephraim, and as a young lion to the house of Judah,—I, I, will tear in pieces, and depart, I will carry off, and none be able to rescue.

¹² Even if they rear their children, I will, in turn, make them childless in fact, woe to them when I turn away from them! ¹³ I have seen Ephraim, like Tyre, planted in a pleasant place; but Ephraim will bring out his children to the murderer. ¹⁴ Give them, O LORD— what will you give them? Give them a miscarrying womb and dry breasts. ¹⁵ All their wickedness is in Gilgal: for there I hated them: for the wickedness of their deeds I will drive them out of my house, I will love them no more: all their princes are rebels. ¹⁶ Ephraim is blighted; its roots shriveled. It can bear no fruit. Even if they bear children, I will kill their cherished offspring. ¹⁷ "My God will reject them, because they did not obey him, and they will become wanderers among the nations."

⁴¹ Then He will say to those on His left, ‘Depart from Me, you who are cursed, into the eternal fire prepared for the devil and his angels.

⁹ who will be punished with everlasting destruction proceeding from the presence of the Lord and from the glory of his power,

³⁷ And you will become a wonder and a name of shame among all the nations where the Lord will take you.

¹¹ But the LORD is with me like a powerful warrior. Therefore my persecutors will stumble and will not prevail. They will be very ashamed, for they will not achieve success. Their everlasting insult will not be forgotten.

⁹ "'"I will make them a horrifying sight to all the kingdoms of the earth. They will be a disgrace and an example. They will become something ridiculed and cursed wherever I scatter them.

¹⁸ For the LORD of Armies, the God of Israel, says: 'As my anger and my wrath has been poured out on the inhabitants of Jerusalem, so my wrath will be poured out on you, when you enter into Egypt; and you will be an object of horror, an astonishment, a curse, and a reproach; and you will see this place no more.'

⁸ in that you provoke me to anger with the works of your hands, burning incense to other gods in the land of Egypt, where you have gone to live; that you may be cut off, and that you may be a curse and a reproach among all the nations of the earth? ⁹ Have you forgotten the sins of your fathers, and the sins of the kings of Judah, and the sins of your princes, and the sins of your wives, which they did in the land of Judah, and in the streets of Jerusalem? ¹⁰ They have not indeed even to this day desisted, nor have they adhered to the ordinances which I set before their fathers; ¹¹ Therefore thus says the LORD Almighty, the God of Israel: 'Look, I am determined to bring disaster on you, even to exterminate all Judah. ¹² I'll take the remnant of Judah that determined to go to the land of Egypt to settle there, and all of them will come to an end in the land of Egypt. They'll fall by the sword, and they'll come to an end by famine. They'll become a curse, an object of horror, ridicule, and scorn.

¹⁴ And I will make you into a waste and a reproach among the nations that are around you, in the eyes of all who pass by. ¹⁵ So it will be a reproach and a taunt, an instruction and an astonishment, to the nations that are around you, when I execute judgments on you in anger and in wrath, and in wrathful rebukes—I, the LORD, have spoken it—

¹⁶ Lord, in view of all your righteous acts, please turn your anger and wrath away from your city Jerusalem, your holy mountain. Because of our sins and the iniquities of our ancestors, Jerusalem and your people have become an embarrassment to all of those around us.

² Many of those who sleep in the dust of the earth will awake, some to everlasting life, and some to shame and everlasting contempt.

⁷ The more they were increased, the more they sinned against Me; I will change their glory into shame.
