¹ "At that time," declares the LORD, "I will be the God of all the clans of Israel, and they will be to me a people." ² This is what the LORD says: "The people who survived the sword, found favor in the desert while Israel was seeking rest. ³ the LORD appeared to him from afar, saying: "I have loved you with an everlasting love. Therefore I have drawn you with loving-kindness. ⁴ "I will build you and you will be rebuilt, O virgin of Israel! You will take up your tambourines and go to the dances of the merrymakers. ⁵ Again you will plant vineyards on the mountains of Samaria. The planters will plant, and will enjoy its fruit. ⁶ For there will be a day when the watchmen will call out on the hills of Ephraim, 'Arise, let's go up to Zion to the LORD our God.'" ⁷ For this is what the LORD says: "Cry out with joy for Jacob and shout for the chief among the nations. Announce, give praise, and say, 'Lord, save your people, the remnant of Israel.' ⁸ Behold! I will bring them from the north country, and gather them from the corners of the earth. Among them the blind, and the lame, the pregnant one, and the travailing one together, a great company shall return here. ⁹ They'll come crying, and I'll lead them as they pray for mercy. I'll make them walk by streams of water, along a straight path on which they won't stumble. For I am Israel's father, and Ephraim is my firstborn." ¹⁰ Hear the word of the LORD, O nations. Declare in the coastlands afar off. Say: "He who scattered Israel will gather him and keep him as a shepherd keeps his flock. ¹¹ For the LORD will deliver Jacob and redeem him from the hand of one stronger than he. ¹² They will come and sing in the height of Zion, and will flow to the goodness of the LORD, to the grain, to the new wine, to the oil, and to the young of the flock and of the herd. Their soul will be as a watered garden. They will not sorrow any more at all. ¹³ The virgins will rejoice with dancing together with young men and old men. For I'll turn their mourning into joy, and I'll comfort them and give them gladness instead of sorrow. ¹⁴ "I will satisfy the priests with rich food. My people will be filled with my blessings," proclaims the LORD. ¹⁵ Thus says the LORD: A voice is heard in Ramah, lamentation, and bitter weeping, Rachel weeping for her children; she refuses to be comforted for her children, because they are no more. ¹⁶ the LORD says: “Refrain your voice from weeping, and your eyes from tears; for your work will be rewarded,” says the LORD. “They will come again from the land of the enemy. ¹⁷ There is hope for your future," declares the LORD. "Your children will return to their own territory." ¹⁸ “I have surely heard Ephraim grieving thus, 'You have chastised me, and I was chastised, as an untrained calf. Turn me, and I will be turned; for you are the LORD my God. ¹⁹ Indeed, after I turned away, then I repented. And after I came to understand, I slapped my forehead. I was both ashamed and humiliated because I bear the disgrace of my youth.'" ²⁰ "Is Ephraim my dear son? Is he a darling child? Indeed, as often as I've spoken about him, I surely still remember him. Therefore I deeply yearn for him. I'll surely have great compassion on him," declares the LORD. ²¹ "Set up road marks. Place guideposts! Direct your mind to the highway, the way by which you went. Return, O virgin of Israel. Return to these your cities. ²² How long will you waver, O unfaithful daughter? For the LORD has created a new thing on the earth, a woman, she shelters a man." ²³ This is what the LORD of the Heavenly Armies, the God of Israel, says: "They'll again speak this word in the land of Judah and its towns when I restore their fortunes, 'The LORD bless you, righteous dwelling, holy mountain.' ²⁴ Judah and all its towns will live together in the land, along with farmers and those who follow the flock. ²⁵ For I shall feed the hungry soul, and refresh all faint hearts." ²⁶ At this, I woke up and looked around. My sleep had been pleasant. ²⁷ "Look, the days are coming," declares the LORD, "and I will sow the house of Israel and the house of Judah with the seed of humankind, and with the seed of animals. ²⁸ Just as I've watched over them to pull up, tear down, overthrow, destroy, and bring disaster, so I'll watch over them to build and to plant," declares the LORD. ²⁹ "In those days people will no longer say, 'The fathers have eaten sour grapes, but the children's teeth have been set on edge.' ³⁰ But every one shall die for his own sin. And whoever eateth the sour grape, his teeth shall be set on edge. ³¹ "The time is coming," proclaims the LORD, "when I will make a new covenant with the house of Israel and with the house of Judah. ³² It won't be like the covenant I made with their ancestors on the day I took them by the hand to bring them out of the land of Egypt. They broke my covenant, although I was a husband to them," declares the LORD. ³³ "But this is the covenant that I will make with the house of Israel after those days," says the LORD: "I will put my law in their minds, and write it on their hearts; and I will be their God, and they shall be my people: ³⁴ And they will teach no more every man his neighbor and every man his brother, saying, Know the LORD, for they will all know me, from the least of them to the greatest of them, says the LORD. For I will forgive their iniquity and I will remember their sin no more. ³⁵ So says the LORD, who gives the sun for a light by day, the laws of the moon, and the stars for a light by night, who stirs up the sea so that its waves roar, the LORD Almighty is His name. ³⁶ "If these ordinances depart from before me," says the LORD, "then the descendants of Israel also shall cease from being a nation before me forever." ³⁷ Thus says the LORD, "If the heavens above can be measured, and the foundations of the earth below can be explored, also I will reject all the offspring of Israel because of all that they have done," declares the LORD. ³⁸ "The time is coming," declares the LORD, "when the city will be rebuilt for me from the Tower of Hananel to Corner Gate. ³⁹ »A measuring line will stretch from there straight to the Hill of Gareb, and then it will turn to Goah. ⁴⁰ "The whole valley is filled with its dead bodies and ashes. The entire area to the Kidron Valley, as far as the corner of Horse Gate in the east, will be holy to the LORD. It will never be uprooted or torn down again."

⁷ "I will establish my covenant as a long lasting covenant between us. It will be for your descendants after you, for the generations to come. I will be your God and the God of your descendants after you. ⁸ "The whole land of Canaan, where you are now a guest (alien) (foreigner) (stranger), I will give a long lasting possession to you and your descendants after you. I will be their God."

¹² I will walk among you, and will be your God, and you will be my people.

¹⁴ For this God is our God for ever and ever: he will be our guide even to death.

¹⁵ Blessed are the people who have it thus. Blessed are the people whose God is the LORD.

¹² And he will erect a standard for the nations, and gather together the outcasts of Israel, and assemble the dispersed of Juda from the four quarters of the earth. ¹³ Then the jealousy of Ephraim will depart. Those who harass Judah will be destroyed. Ephraim will not be jealous of Judah, and Judah will not harass Ephraim.

¹⁰ "'Do not fear for I am with you! Do not be dismayed for I am your God. I will strengthen you and help you. I will uphold you with my righteous right hand.'

¹⁸ In those days the house of Judah will walk with the house of Israel, and together they'll come to the land that I gave your ancestors as an inheritance."

⁶ In his days Judah will be saved, and Israel will dwell safely. This is his name by which he will be called: the LORD our righteousness.

³ "The days are coming," says the LORD, "when I will bring my people Israel and Judah back from captivity. I will bring them back to the land that I gave their ancestors, and they will take possession of it."’

¹⁰ Therefore do not fear, O Jacob my servant, says the LORD, nor be dismayed, O Israel. For behold, I will save you from afar and your seed from the land of their captivity and Jacob will return and will be quiet and at ease and none will make him afraid.

²² And you will be my people, and I will be your God.

²⁴ The fierce anger of the LORD won't turn back until he has accomplished and established the plan of his heart. In the days to come, you will understand this.

³³ "But this is the covenant that I will make with the house of Israel after those days," says the LORD: "I will put my law in their minds, and write it on their hearts; and I will be their God, and they shall be my people:

³⁸ "They will be my people, and I will be their God.

⁷ "I will restore Judah and Israel and rebuild them as they were before.

¹⁴ 'Look, days are coming,' declares the LORD, 'and I will fulfill the good promise that I promised to the house of Israel and to the house of Judah.

²⁴ "Haven't you noticed what these people have been saying? 'The LORD rejected the two families that he had chosen!' They have contempt for my people and no longer consider them a nation. ²⁵ This is what the LORD says: 'If I had not established my covenant for day and night and the laws that govern the heavens and earth, ²⁶ then I might reject the descendants of Jacob and my servant David by not taking some of his descendants as rulers over the descendants of Abraham, Isaac, and Jacob. Indeed, I'll restore their fortunes, and I'll have compassion on them.'"

⁴ In those days, and at that time, says the LORD, the sons of Israel shall come, they and the sons of Judah together, going and weeping. They shall go and seek the LORD their God.

²⁰ that they may walk in my statutes, and keep my ordinances, and do them. They will be my people, and I will be their God.

³¹ You my sheep, the sheep of my pasture, are men, and I am your God,' says the Sovereign LORD.”

²⁸ You will dwell in the land that I gave to your fathers. You will be my people, and I will be your God.

¹⁶ "Son of man, take a stick and write on it: For Judah and for the Israelites who are associated with it.' Then take another stick and write on it: 'The stick of Ephraim, for Joseph and for all the people of Israel associated with it.' ¹⁷ And join them to one another into one stick. And they shall become one in your hand. ¹⁸ 'Tell us what you mean by this.' ¹⁹ Then say to them: 'This is what the Sovereign LORD says: I will take Joseph's stick, which is in Ephraim's hand, and the tribes of Israel associated with it, and I will put them with Judah's stick. I will make them into one stick. They will be one in my hand."' ²⁰ When you hold the sticks in your hand, let the people see them. ²¹ "Tell them: 'The Sovereign LORD says: "I will take the Israelites out of the nations where they have gone. I will gather them from everywhere and bring them to their own land. ²² I will form them into one nation in the land on the mountains of Israel. One king will rule all of them. They will no longer be two nations or be divided into two kingdoms. ²³ They will no longer dishonor themselves with their idols, with their detestable things, or with their rebellious acts. I will forgive them for all the times they turned away from me and sinned. I will cleanse them so that they will be my people, and I will be their God. ²⁴ And my servant David will be king over them and they all will have one shepherd. They will also walk in my ordinances and observe my statutes and do them. ²⁵ "'"They will live in the land that I gave my servant Jacob, the land where their ancestors lived. They, their children, and their grandchildren will live in it for a very long time. My servant David will be their prince for a very long time. ²⁶ Moreover I will make a covenant of peace with them. It will be an everlasting covenant with them. I will place them, multiply them, and will set my sanctuary among them forever more. ²⁷ "'"My dwelling place will be with them. I will be their God, and they will be my people.

²² "From that day on, the people of Israel will know that I am the LORD their God.

¹¹ And the people of Judah and the people of Israel will be united as one. They will appoint for themselves a single leader and will take dominion over the land, for great will be the day of Jezreel.

⁶ And I will strengthen the house of Judah, and the house of Joseph I will save. And I will bring them back, because I have compassion on them, and they will be as if I had not rejected them, for I am the LORD their God, and I will answer them. ⁷ And Ephraim will be like a man of war, and their hearts will be glad as with wine; and their children will see it with joy; their hearts will be glad in the Lord.

⁹ And I will bring the remaining third into the fire, and I will refine them like one refines silver, and I will test them like one tests gold. They will call my name, and I will answer them. I will say, 'They are my people,' and they will say, 'the LORD is my God.'"

¹⁷ Jesus said to her, "Do not touch me, for I have not yet ascended to the Father; but go to my brothers, and tell them, 'I am ascending to my Father and your Father, to my God and your God.'"

²⁶ And so all Israel will be saved, as it is written: “The Deliverer will come from Zion, He will remove godlessness from Jacob. ²⁷ And this is my covenant with them when I take away their sins." ²⁸ As far as the gospel is concerned, they are enemies for your sake, but as far as election is concerned, they are loved for the sake of their ancestors. ²⁹ For God’s gifts and His call are irrevocable.

¹⁶ See to it that no one is sexually immoral, or is godless like Esau, who sold his birthright for a single meal.

¹⁶ "When you help the Hebrew women give birth," he said, "watch them as they deliver. If it's a son, kill him; but if it's a daughter, let her live."

²² Then Pharaoh commanded all his people: Every son who is born must be thrown into the Nile River. However, keep every daughter alive.

²³ And then during those many days, the king of Egypt died, and the Israelites groaned because of the work, and they cried out, and their cry for help because of the work went up to God.

²¹ and they said unto them, The LORD look upon you and judge because ye have made our savour to be a stench before Pharaoh and his slaves, putting a sword in their hands to slay us.

³⁷ The Israelites left Rameses to go to Succoth. There were about six hundred thousand men on foot, plus all the women and children.

⁸ And the LORD hardened the heart of Pharaoh the king of Egypt, and he chased after the Israelites. (Now the Israelites were going out boldly.) ⁹ The Egyptians pursued them. All the horses and chariots of Pharaoh, his horsemen, and his army overtook them encamping by the sea, beside Pihahiroth, before Baal Zephon. ¹⁰ As Pharaoh approached, the Israelites looked up, and there were the Egyptians bearing down on them! Extremely frightened, the Israelites cried out to the LORD. ¹¹ They also said to Moses, "Was it because there were no graves in Egypt that you took us out to die in the desert? What have you done to us, by bringing us out of Egypt? ¹² "Did we not say in Egypt: Leave us alone that we may serve the Egyptians? It would have been better for us to serve the Egyptians than to die in the desert."

⁹ The enemy said, I will pursue, I will overtake, I will divide the spoil; my soul shall be filled with them; I will draw my sword; my hand will destroy them. ¹⁰ You blew with your breath, and the sea covered them; they sank like lead in the mighty waters.

⁸ Then the Amalekites came and fought with the Israelites at Rephidim. ⁹ Moses said to Joshua, "Choose some men for us and go out to fight against the Amalekites. Tomorrow I'll stand on top of the hill with the staff of God in my hand." ¹⁰ So Joshua did as Moses had told him, and fought with Amalek; and Moses, Aaron, and Hur went up to the top of the hill. ¹¹ As long as Moses held up his hands, Israel would win, but as soon as he put his hands down, the Amalekites would start to win. ¹² When Moses' hands became heavy, they took a stone and put it under him, and he sat on it. Aaron and Hur supported his hands, one on one side and one on the other, and so his hands were steady until the sun went down. ¹³ Joshua defeated Amalek and his army with the sword.

¹⁴ He said, "My presence will go with you, and I will give you rest."

³³ And they departed from the mount of the LORD three days' journey: and the ark of the covenant of the LORD went before them in the three days' journey, to seek a resting-place for them.

²⁰ the LORD said: "I forgive them, as you have asked.

³⁰ the LORD your God, who is going before you, will himself fight for you, just as he did for you in Egypt before your eyes,

³³ »He went ahead of you to find places for you to camp. He offered fire by night and cloud by day to show you the way you should go.

⁷ For the LORD your God has blessed you in all the work of your hand; He has known your walking through this great wilderness; these forty years the LORD your God has been with you and you have lacked nothing.

² "Remember how the LORD your God led you all the way these 40 years in the desert, to humble and test you in order to make known what was in your heart, whether or not you would keep his commands. ³ He humbled you and allowed you to suffer hunger, and fed you with manna, which you didn't know, neither did your fathers know, that He might make you know that man does not live by bread only, but by every word that proceeds out of the mouth of the LORD.

¹⁶ and fed you in the desert with manna that neither you nor your ancestors had known, to humble and test you so that things go well with you later.

⁹ »For you have not as yet come to the resting place and the inheritance that the LORD your God is giving you.

¹² and you led them by day by a pillar of cloud; and by night by a pillar of fire, to give them light in the way wherein to go: ¹³ "You came down also on Mount Sinai, and spoke with them from heaven, and gave them right ordinances and true laws, good statutes and commandments, ¹⁴ and made known to them your holy Sabbath, and commanded them commandments, statutes, and a law, by Moses your servant, ¹⁵ and gave them bread from the heavens for their famine; and brought them water from the rock for their thirst; and said to them to go in to possess the land which you lifted your hand to give them.

¹⁴ He led them with the cloud by day and with a light of fire by night. ¹⁵ He split the rocks in the wilderness, and gave them drink as out of the great depths. ¹⁶ And he brought streams out of the rock and caused water to flow down like rivers.

²³ Yet he commanded the skies above, and opened the doors of heaven. ²⁴ and rained down on them manna to eat and gave them the grain of heaven. ²⁵ Man ate the bread of angels. He sent them food to the full. ²⁶ He made an east wind blow in the heavens; and He led out the south wind by His power. ²⁷ He caused meat to rain on them like dust and winged birds as the sand of the sea. ²⁸ And He made them fall amidst their camp, all around to their tents. ²⁹ So they did eat, and were well filled; and He gave them that which they craved.

⁵² and brought out his people like sheep, and led them like a flock in the desert,

¹¹ So I swore by an oath in my anger, Shall they enter into my rest, no.

³⁷ He brought Israel out with silver and gold, and no one among his tribes stumbled. ³⁸ Egypt was glad when they departed, because the fear of them had fallen upon them. ³⁹ He spread out a cloud as a covering, And fire, to give light by night, ⁴⁰ They asked, and he brought quail, and satisfied them with the bread of heaven. ⁴¹ He opened a rock, and water gushed out flowing like a river in the desert. ⁴² For He remembered His holy word and His servant Abraham; ⁴³ He brought his people out with joy, his chosen ones with a song of joy.

¹⁶ to him, who led his people through the desert; for his mercy endureth forever; ¹⁷ To Him who struck down great kings; for His mercy endures forever; ¹⁸ and killed mighty kings; for His grace endures forever: ¹⁹ Sihon king of the Amorites; for His grace endures forever; ²⁰ and Og king of Bashan; for His mercy endures forever; ²¹ and gave their land as an inheritance; for His grace endures forever; ²² an inheritance to His servant Israel; for His mercy endures forever; ²³ For the Lord remembered us in our low estate; for His mercy endures forever; ²⁴ and redeemed us from our enemies; for His mercy endures forever.

⁷ The kindnesses of the LORD will I mention, the praises of the LORD, according to all which the LORD requites us, and the vast good to the house of Israel which He requites them, according to His compassions, and according to His many kindnesses." ⁸ He said: They are my people, sons who will not lie to me. So he became their Savior. ⁹ In all their affliction he was afflicted, and the angel of his presence saved them. In his love and in his pity he redeemed them. He bore them, and carried them all the days of old. ¹⁰ But they rebelled and grieved his Holy Spirit. Therefore he turned and became their enemy, and he himself fought against them. ¹¹ Then he remembered the days of old, Moses and his people, saying, “Where is he who brought them up out of the sea with the shepherds of his flock? Where is he who put his Holy Spirit among them?” ¹² Who caused his glorious arm to be at Moses' right hand? Who divided the waters before them, to make himself an everlasting name? ¹³ Who led them through the depths, like a horse in the wilderness, so that they didn’t stumble? ¹⁴ As the cattle that go down into the valley, the Spirit of the LORD caused them to rest. So you led your people to make yourself a glorious name.

² "Go and announce to Jerusalem: 'This is what the LORD says: "I remember the loyal devotion of your youth, your love as a bride. You followed me in the desert, in a land that was not planted.

¹⁴ But I wrought for my name`s sake, that it should not be profaned in the sight of the nations, in whose sight I had brought them out. ¹⁵ Yet even l lifted up my hand to them. in the desert,— That I would not b1ing them into the land which I had given to them flowing with milk and honey, The beauty, it was. of all lands: ¹⁶ because they rejected my ordinances, and did not walk in my statutes, and profaned my Sabbaths, for their heart went after their idols. ¹⁷ '""But I had compassion on them. I did not destroy them or completely wipe them out in the desert.

²⁸ Come to Me, all you who are weary and burdened, and I will give you rest.

⁸ Now if Joshua had given them rest, God would not have spoken later about another day. ⁹ There remains then a Sabbath rest for the people of God.

³⁷ And because he loved your ancestors he chose their descendants after them. And he brought you forth from Egypt with his own presence, by his great strength,

⁷ The LORD did not set his love on you, nor choose you, because you were more in number than any people; for you were the fewest of all peoples: ⁸ But because the LORD loved you, and because he would keep the oath which he had sworn to your fathers, hath the LORD brought you out with a mighty hand, and redeemed you from the house of bond-men, from the hand of Pharaoh king of Egypt. ⁹ Know therefore that the LORD your God himself is God, the faithful God, who keeps covenant and loving kindness to a thousand generations with those who love him and keep his commandments,

¹⁵ "Yet the LORD set his affection on your fathers. He loved them. He chose you their descendants above all peoples, as it is this day.

³ Yes, he loves the people. All his holy ones are in your hand. They sat down at your feet; each receives your words.

²⁶ There is none like the God of Jeshurun, who rides on the heaven to your help, and in His majesty on the clouds.

¹⁷ But the loyal love of Yahweh is from everlasting to everlasting on those who fear him, and his righteousness to their children's children,

⁴ Take me away with you. Let us hurry. The king has brought me into his chambers. We will be glad and rejoice in you. We will praise your love more than wine. They are right to love you.

¹⁷ the LORD will save Israel with an everlasting salvation. You will never be put to shame or disgraced, to ages everlasting.

⁸ "In a surge of anger I hid my face from you for a moment, but with everlasting kindness I will have compassion on you," says the LORD your Redeemer. ⁹ "To me this is like the days of Noah, when I swore that the waters of Noah would never again cover the earth. So now I have sworn not to be angry with you, never to rebuke you again.

¹ "When Israel was a child, I loved him, and out of Egypt I called my son.

⁴ "I led them with cords of human kindness, with ties of love. I lifted the yoke from their neck and bent down to feed them.

² I have loved you, says the LORD. Yet you say, How have you loved us? Was not Esau Jacob's brother, says the LORD. Yet I loved Jacob,

⁴⁴ No one can come to me unless the Father who sent me draws him; and I will raise him up at the last day. ⁴⁵ It is written in the Prophets: ‘And they will all be taught by God.’ Everyone who has heard the Father and learned from Him comes to Me—

³⁰ And those He predestined He also called, those He called He also justified, those He justified He also glorified.

¹³ just as it is written, "Jacob I loved, but Esau I hated."

³ Blessed be the God and Father of our Lord Jesus Christ, who has blessed us in Christ with every spiritual blessing in the heavenly realms. ⁴ For He chose us in Him before the foundation of the world to be holy and blameless in His presence. In love ⁵ he predestined us to be adopted as his sons through Jesus Christ, according to the good pleasure of his will,

⁴ But because of His great love for us, God, who is rich in mercy, ⁵ made us alive with Christ, even when we were dead in our trespasses. It is by grace you have been saved!

¹³ But we ought always to give thanks to God for you, brethren beloved of the Lord; because God hath from the beginning chosen you to salvation, through sanctification of the Spirit, and belief of the truth: ¹⁴ He called you to this through our gospel, that you may share in the glory of our Lord Jesus Christ. ¹⁵ So then, brothers, stand fast, and hold to the teachings which you were taught, whether by word, or by our epistle. ¹⁶ May our Lord Jesus, the Messiah himself, and may God our Father, who loved us and by his grace gave us eternal comfort and good hope,

⁹ who has saved us and called us with a holy calling, not according to our works, but according to His own purpose and grace which was given us in Christ Jesus before the eternal times.

³ For at one time we too were foolish, disobedient, misled, enslaved to all sorts of desires and pleasures, living in malice and envy, hateful, and hating one another. ⁴ But when the kindness and love of God our Savior appeared, ⁵ he saved us, not by deeds of righteousness that we have done, but because of his mercy, through the washing of regeneration and renewal by the Holy Spirit, ⁶ whom he poured out on us richly, through Jesus Christ our Savior;

¹⁸ He chose to give us birth through the word of truth, that we would be a kind of firstfruits of His creation.

³ Blessed be the God and Father of our Lord Jesus Christ! By His great mercy, He has given us new birth into a living hope through the resurrection of Jesus Christ from the dead,

¹⁹ We love, because he first loved us.

²⁰ Then Miriam the prophetess, Aaron's sister, took a tambourine in her hand and went out with all the women behind her with tambourines and dancing. ²¹ Miriam sang to them, "Sing to the LORD, for he is highly exalted! The horse and its rider he has thrown into the sea."

³⁴ When Jephthah arrived at his home in Mizpah surprise! it was his daughter who came out to meet him, playing tambourines and dancing. She was his one and only child. Except for her, he had no other son or daughter.

⁶ Now when David returned, after he slew the Philistine, the women came out of all the cities of Israel, singing and dancing, to meet king Saul, with timbrels of joy, and cornets. ⁷ And the women began this song, and said, Saul has slain his thousands, and David his ten thousands.

²¹ This is the word that the LORD has spoken concerning him: "The virgin daughter of Zion has despised you and ridiculed you. The daughter of Jerusalem has shaken her head at you.

¹⁸ Do good in your good pleasure to Zion: build you the walls of Jerusalem.

³⁵ For God will save Zion, and build the cities of Judah. They shall settle there, and own it.

³ Let them praise his name with dancing. Let them make music to him with tambourines and lyres.

³ Praise him with the sounding of the trumpet! Praise him with harp and lyre! ⁴ Praise him with tambourine and dancing; praise him with strings and flute. ⁵ Praise him with loud cymbals! Praise him with resounding cymbals! ⁶ Let everything that has breath praise the LORD. Praise the LORD.

²² this is the word the LORD spoke against him: "The Virgin Daughter of Zion despises and mocks you. The Daughter of Jerusalem tosses her head as you flee.

¹⁰ See, today I've appointed you to prophesy about nations and kingdoms, to pull up and tear down, to destroy and overthrow, to build and to plant."

¹⁷ You, say this word to them; My eyes drip with tears night and day and they cease not: for the virgin daughter of my people is broken with a great breaking - with a mighty stroking stroke.

¹³ "Therefore, this is what the LORD says: 'Ask the nations. Who has ever heard of anything like this? You have done a most horrible thing, virgin Israel.

¹⁸ "This is what the LORD says: 'I'm going to restore the fortunes of the tents of Jacob and have compassion on his dwellings. A city will be rebuilt on its ruins and a palace will sit on its rightful place. ¹⁹ And from them will go out praise and the sound of laughing: and I will make them great in number, and they will not become less; and I will give them glory, and they will not be small.

¹³ The virgins will rejoice with dancing together with young men and old men. For I'll turn their mourning into joy, and I'll comfort them and give them gladness instead of sorrow.

²¹ "Set up road marks. Place guideposts! Direct your mind to the highway, the way by which you went. Return, O virgin of Israel. Return to these your cities.

¹⁵ The Lord has rejected all my mighty ones in my midst. He called an assembly against me, to crush my young men; like in a wine press, the Lord has trodden on the virgin daughter of Judah.

¹³ What can I say for you? What can I compare to you, O daughter of Jerusalem? To what can I liken you so that I can comfort you, O virgin daughter of Zion? For your destruction is as vast as the sea; who can heal you?

² Fallen is Israel the virgin never to rise again! She is abandoned on her own land, with no one to raise her up.

¹¹ "At that time I will restore David's fallen tent, restoring its torn places. I will restore its ruins, rebuilding it as it was long ago,

²³ Bring the fatted calf and kill it. Let us feast and celebrate.

¹⁶ ‘After this I will return and rebuild David’s fallen tent. Its ruins I will rebuild, and I will restore it,

²⁰ built on the foundation of the apostles and prophets, with Christ Jesus Himself as the cornerstone. ²¹ in whom the whole building is joined together and rises to become a holy temple in the Lord; ²² And in Him you too are being built together into a dwelling place for God in His Spirit.

¹ After this I heard a sound like the roar of a great multitude in heaven, shouting: “Hallelujah! Salvation and glory and power belong to our God! ² for true and just are his judgments. He has judged the great prostitute who was corrupting the earth with her lewdness and he has avenged on her the blood of his servants." ³ And again they shouted, "Hallelujah! The smoke from her goes up for ever and ever." ⁴ The twenty-four elders and the four living creatures bowed down and worshiped God, who was sitting on the throne. They said, "Amen! Hallelujah!" ⁵ And a voice came from the throne, saying, "Praise our God, all you his servants, you who fear him, both small and great." ⁶ Then I heard what sounded like the voice of a great multitude, like the sound of many waters and like the sound of mighty peals of thunder, crying, "Hallelujah! For the Lord our God the Almighty reigns. ⁷ Let us rejoice and be glad and give him the glory! For the marriage of the Lamb has come, and his bride has made herself ready. ⁸ She was given clothing of fine linen, linen bright and pure.” For the fine linen she wears is the righteous acts of the saints.

¹⁰ And he carried me away in the Spirit to a mountain great and high, and showed me the holy city Jerusalem, coming down out of heaven from God, ¹¹ having the glory of God, and its brilliance was like that of a very precious jewel, like a jasper, clear as crystal. ¹² It had a great, high wall, with twelve gates, and at the gates twelve angels, and on the gates were written the names of the twelve tribes of the sons of Israel. ¹³ There were three gates on the east, three on the north, three on the south, and three on the west. ¹⁴ And the wall of the city had twelve foundations, and on them were the names of the twelve apostles of the Lamb. ¹⁵ The angel who was talking with me had a measuring rod of gold, to measure the city, its gates and wall. ¹⁶ The city is laid out as a square, and its length is as great as the width; and he measured the city with the rod, twelve thousand stadia; its length and width and height are equal. ¹⁷ And he measured its wall, a hundred and forty-four cubits, according to man's measurement, which the angel was using. ¹⁸ The wall was made of jasper, and the city of pure gold, as clear as glass. ¹⁹ The foundations of the city walls were adorned with every kind of precious stone: The first foundation was jasper, the second sapphire, the third chalcedony, the fourth emerald, ²⁰ the fifth sardonyx, the sixth carnelian, the seventh chrysolite, the eighth beryl, the ninth topaz, the tenth chrysoprase, the eleventh jacinth, and the twelfth amethyst. ²¹ And the twelve gates were twelve pearls; each gate made of a single pearl: and the street of the city was pure gold, like transparent glass. ²² But I saw no temple in the city, because the Lord God Almighty and the Lamb are its temple. ²³ The city does not need the sun nor the moon to shine in it, for the glory of God lighted it, and the Lamb is its lamp. ²⁴ The nations will walk by its light; the kings of the earth will bring their splendor into it. ²⁵ And its gates will not be shut by day; for there will be no night there; ²⁶ and the glory and honor of the nations shall be brought into it. ²⁷ But nothing impure shall enter into it, nor shall any man who commits shameful acts, or who lies: but only those whose names are written in the Lamb's book of life.

²³ “'When you come into the land, and have planted all kinds of trees for food, then you shall count their fruit as forbidden. For three years it shall be forbidden to you. It shall not be eaten. ²⁴ But in the fourth year all its fruit shall be holy, offerings of praise for the LORD. ²⁵ And in the fifth year you shall eat its fruit, that it may yield to you its increase; I am the LORD your God.

⁶ "'And is there a man here who has planted a vineyard and not yet benefited from it? Let him go home. Otherwise, he may die in battle and another man use it.

³⁰ You'll be engaged to a woman, but another man will rape her. You'll build a house but you won't live in it. You'll plant a vineyard but you won't harvest it.

⁵ David answered the priest: "Women have been kept away from us as usual when we go on a mission. The young men's bodies are kept holy even on ordinary campaigns. How much more then are their bodies holy today?"

⁸ the LORD has sworn by his right hand, and by his mighty arm, "Surely I will never again give your grain as food to your enemies, and surely foreigners shall not drink your new wine at which you have labored." ⁹ But those who have garnered it will eat it and praise the LORD. And those who have gathered it will drink it in the courts of my sanctuary.

²¹ "They will build houses and dwell in them. They will plant vineyards and eat their fruit. ²² "No longer will they build houses and others live in them, or plant and others eat. For as the days of a tree, so will be the days of my people. My chosen ones will long enjoy the works of their hands.

⁸ "'But you, mountains of Israel, will grow branches and bear fruit for my people Israel. My people will come home soon.

¹⁴ I will surely restore my people Israel; they will rebuild the ruined cities and inhabit them. They will plant vineyards and drink the wine from them. They will plant gardens and eat the fruit from them.

¹⁹ Those of the Negev will possess the mountain of Esau, and those of the lowland, the Philistines. They will possess the field of Ephraim, and the field of Samaria. Benjamin will possess Gilead.

⁴ Each man will sit under his vine and under his fig tree. No one will make them afraid! The mouth of the LORD Almighty has spoken.

¹⁰ In that day', says the LORD of Armies, 'every man will invite his neighbour to come under his vine and under his fig tree'.

⁴ Abijah stood up on Mount Zemaraim, which is in the hill country of Ephraim, and said, "Hear me, Jeroboam and all Israel:

⁵ They decided to send an announcement throughout Israel from Beersheba to Dan. They summoned everyone to come to Jerusalem to celebrate the Passover of the LORD God of Israel. These people had not celebrated it in large numbers as the written instructions said they should. ⁶ Messengers carried letters from the king and his officials throughout Israel and Judah. The king's order said: "Israelites should return to the LORD the God of Abraham, Isaac, and Israel. Then he will return to the few of you who escaped from the power of the kings of Assyria. ⁷ Do not be like your fathers and your brothers, who were sinners against the Lord, the God of their fathers, so that he made them a cause of fear, as you see. ⁸ Now, do not stiffen your neck as your fathers, but give a hand to the LORD and come to his sanctuary, which he has consecrated forever, and serve the LORD your God that his fierce anger may turn away from you. ⁹ For when you return to the LORD, your brothers and your children will find compassion before their captors and return to this land, for the LORD your God is gracious and compassionate, and he will not turn away his face from you if you return to him." ¹⁰ So the runners went from town to town through all the country of Ephraim and Manasseh as far as Zebulun: but they were laughed at and made sport of. ¹¹ Nevertheless some men of Asher, Manasseh, and Zebulun humbled themselves, and came to Jerusalem.

⁵ Then the heads of fathers of Judah and Benjamin and the priests and the Levites, even all whose spirit God had stirred, rose up to go up to build the house of the LORD which is in Jerusalem.

¹⁵ And I gathered them together by the water that runneth toward Ahava, and there abode we three days. And when I looked among the people and the priests, I found no Levites there. ¹⁶ Then sent I to Eliezer, Ariel, Shemaiah, Elnathan, Jarib, Elnathan, Nathan, Zechariah, and Meshullam, the rulers, and Joiarib and Elnathan, which were men of understanding. ¹⁷ I sent them out to Iddo the chief at the place Casiphia; and I told them what they should tell Iddo, and his brothers the temple servants, at the place Casiphia, that they should bring to us ministers for the house of our God. ¹⁸ And by the good hand of our God on us they brought us a man of understanding, from the sons of Mahli, the son of Levi, the son of Israel, and Sherebiah, with his sons and his brothers, eighteen; ¹⁹ Hashabiah and Jeshaiah from the descendants of Merari and 20 of his brothers and their sons; ²⁰ 220 descendants of the temple Servants whom David and the leaders had appointed to serve the Levites, listed by name.

² In the last days the mountain of the house of the LORD will be established as the highest of the mountains and exalted above the hills. All the nations will stream to it. ³ Then many people will come and say: "Let us go to the mountain of the LORD, to the House of the God of Jacob. He will teach us his ways so that we may live by them." The law will go out from Zion. The word of the LORD will go out from Jerusalem. ⁴ He will judge between the nations, and will decide concerning many peoples. They shall beat their swords into plowshares, and their spears into pruning hooks. Nation shall not lift up sword against nation, neither shall they learn war any more.

¹¹ It will happen in that day that the Lord will set his hand again the second time to recover the remnant that is left of his people from Assyria, from Egypt, from Pathros, from Cush, from Elam, from Shinar, from Hamath, and from the islands of the sea.

⁹ You bring good news to Zion. Go up on a high mountain. You bring good news to Jerusalem. Lift up your voice with a shout! Lift it up and do not be afraid! Say to the towns of Judah: "Here is your God!"

⁷ How beautiful on the mountains are the feet of him who brings good news, who publishes peace, who brings good news, who proclaims salvation, who says to Zion, “Your God reigns!” ⁸ Listen! Your watchmen lift up their voices. Together they shout for joy. They will see it with their own eyes when the LORD returns to Zion.

⁶ I have set watchmen on your walls, Jerusalem. They will never be silent day nor night. You who call on the LORD, take no rest,

¹⁷ "'I set watchmen over you. I said: 'Listen to the sound of the trumpet! But they said: 'We will not listen!'"

⁴ In those days, and at that time, says the LORD, the sons of Israel shall come, they and the sons of Judah together, going and weeping. They shall go and seek the LORD their God. ⁵ They will ask the way to Zion, turning their faces there. They will come and join themselves to the LORD by an everlasting covenant that will not be forgotten.

¹⁹ I will bring Israel again to his pasture, and he will feed on Carmel and Bashan. His soul will be satisfied on the hills of Ephraim and in Gilead.

¹⁷ Son of man, I have made you a watchman to the house of Israel: therefore hear the word at my mouth, and give them warning from me.

² Son of man, speak to the sons of thy people, and say to them, When I bring the sword upon a land, and the people of the land take a man from among them, and set him for their watchman,

⁸ The prophet keeps watch over Ephraim for my God; the snare of a fowler is on all his ways, and hostility in the house of his God.

¹ But in the latter days, it will happen that the mountain of the LORD's temple will be established on the top of the mountains, and it will be exalted above the hills; and peoples will stream to it. ² And many nations will come and say, "Come! Let us go up to the mountain of the LORD, and to the temple of the God of Jacob, that he may teach us his ways, and that we may walk in his paths," for the law will go out from Zion, and the word of the LORD from Jerusalem. ³ And he will judge between many peoples and will decide concerning strong nations afar off. And they will beat their swords into plowshares and their spears into pruning-hooks. Nation will not lift up sword against nation, nor will they learn war any more.

²⁰ Thus says the LORD of hosts: "Many peoples and the inhabitants of many cities will yet come; ²¹ and the inhabitants of one city shall go to another, saying, Let us go speedily to supplicate the LORD, and to seek the LORD of hosts: I will go also. ²² And many peoples and powerful nations will come to seek Yahweh of hosts in Jerusalem, and to entreat ⌊the favor of⌋ Yahweh.' ²³ Thus says the LORD of hosts: 'In those days ten men from all the nations of every language will take hold of the hem of a Judean man, saying, "Let us go with you, for we have heard that God is with you!" '"

⁵ Philip went down to a city in Samaria and proclaimed the Christ to them. ⁶ When the people heard Philip and saw the signs that he showed they were all interested in what he had to say, ⁷ With loud shrieks, unclean spirits came out of many who were possessed, and many of the paralyzed and lame were healed. ⁸ So there was great joy in that city.

¹³ The Lord will make you the head and not the tail; and you will ever have the highest place, if you give ear to the orders of the Lord your God which I give you today, to keep and to do them;

⁴³ Rejoice, you nations, with his people, for he will avenge the blood of his servants. He will take vengeance on his adversaries, and will make atonement for his land and for his people.

⁷ Oh that the salvation of Israel would come out of Zion. When the LORD restores the fortunes of his people, may Jacob rejoice, may Israel be glad.

⁹ Save your people, and bless your inheritance. Be their shepherd also, and bear them up forever.

¹ For the Chief Musician. With stringed instruments. A Psalm. A song. May God be merciful to us, bless us, and cause his face to shine on us. Selah.

¹ Sing to the LORD a new song; sing to the LORD, all the earth. ² Sing to the LORD. Bless his name. Proclaim his salvation from day to day. ³ Declare his glory among the nations, his marvelous works among all the peoples.

¹ Sing to the LORD a new song, for he has done marvelous things. His right hand, and his holy arm, have worked salvation for him. 2 the LORD has made his salvation known. He has uncovered his righteousness for the nations to see. ³ He has remembered His mercy and His faithfulness to the house of Israel; all the ends of the earth have seen the salvation of our God. ⁴ Shout joyfully to the LORD all the earth. Break out into joyful singing, and make music.

⁴⁷ Save us, O LORD our God, and gather us from the nations, so that we may give thanks to your holy name and boast in your praise.

¹ Praise the LORD, all you nations; extol him, all you peoples. ² For his mercy is great toward us; and the truth of the LORD [endureth] for ever. Praise ye the LORD

⁴ All the kings of the earth shall praise you, O LORD, when they hear the words of your mouth. ⁵ Yes, they shall sing in the ways of the LORD; for the glory of the LORD is great.

⁹ Unless the LORD of hosts had left us a few survivors, we would have been as Sodom, and we would have been like Gomorrah.

¹¹ It will happen in that day that the Lord will set his hand again the second time to recover the remnant that is left of his people from Assyria, from Egypt, from Pathros, from Cush, from Elam, from Shinar, from Hamath, and from the islands of the sea.

⁴ In that day you will say: "Give thanks to the LORD, call on his name; make known among the nations what he has done, and proclaim that his name is exalted. ⁵ "Sing to the LORD, for he has done glorious things. Let this be known to the entire world. ⁶ "Shout aloud and sing for joy, people of Zion, for great is the Holy One of Israel among you."

¹⁴ They raise their voices and shout for joy. From the west they acclaim the LORD's majesty. ¹⁵ Therefore in the east give glory to the LORD. Exalt the name of the LORD the God of Israel, in the islands of the sea. ¹⁶ From the uttermost part of the earth have we heard songs: 'Glory to the righteous.' But I say: I waste away, I waste away, woe is me! The treacherous deal treacherously; yea, the treacherous deal very treacherously.

⁴ "'Perhaps the LORD your God will hear the words of Rabshakeh. His master the king of Assyria has sent him to reproach the living God! He will rebuke the words the LORD your God has heard. Therefore, offer a prayer for the remnant that survives.'"

³¹ »‘Again a remnant of the house of Judah will take root below and bear fruit above.

¹⁰ Sing to the LORD a new song, and his praise from the end of the earth, you who go down to the sea, and all that is in it, the islands and their inhabitants. ¹¹ Let the wilderness and its cities lift up their voice, the villages where Kedar dwells. Let the dwellers of the rock sing, let them shout from the mountain tops. ¹² Let them give glory to the LORD, and declare his praise in the islands.

²³ Sing, you heavens, for the LORD has done it. Shout, you lower parts of the earth. Break out into singing, you mountains, O forest, all of your trees, for the LORD has redeemed Jacob, and will glorify himself in Israel.

⁹ And their seed will be known among the nations, and their offspring among the peoples; all who see them will acknowledge them, that they are the seed the LORD has blessed.

³ "I'll gather the remnant of my flock from all the countries where I've driven them, and bring them back to their pasture where they'll be fruitful and increase in numbers.

⁸ But I will spare some, so there will be for you fugitives from the sword among the nations when you are scattered in the countries.

⁷ But I will have pity on the house of Judah and I will save them by Yahweh their God, and will not deliver them by bow, sword, war, horses, or horsemen.

³² And it will happen—everyone who calls on the name of the LORD will be rescued, because on Mount Zion and in Jerusalem there will be those who escape, as the LORD said, and among the survivors whom the LORD is calling.

¹⁵ Hate evil and love good and establish justice in the gate; perhaps the LORD, the God of hosts, will be gracious to the remnant of Joseph.

¹² I will surely gather all of you, O Jacob; I will surely gather together the remainder of Israel. I will set them like sheep of Bozrah. Like a herd in the midst of their pasture they will be in tumult from people.

¹⁸ Who is a God like You, who pardons iniquity and passes by the transgression of the remnant of His heritage? He does not keep His anger forever, because He delights in mercy.

⁹ "Therefore, as I live"—a declaration of the LORD of hosts, the God of Israel— "Moab shall be as Sodom, and the Ammonites like Gomorrah, a place of weeds and salt pits and a desolation forever. The remnant of my people shall plunder them, and the remainder of my nation shall possess them."

¹³ The remnant of Israel will not do iniquity, nor speak lies, neither will a deceitful tongue be found in their mouth, for they will feed and lie down, and no one will make them afraid." ¹⁴ Sing, O daughter of Zion; shout, O Israel; be glad and rejoice with all the heart, O daughter of Jerusalem. ¹⁵ the LORD has turned off your judgments; He has turned away your enemy. the LORD, the King of Israel, is in your midst; you shall not fear evil any more. ¹⁶ In that day it will be said to Jerusalem, Do not fear, O Zion. Do not let your hands be slack. ¹⁷ The LORD your God in the midst of you is mighty; he will save, he will rejoice over you with joy; he will quiet you with his love, he will rejoice over you with singing. ¹⁸ I will remove those who grieve about the appointed feasts from you. They are a burden and a reproach to you. ¹⁹ Behold, at that time I will deal with all that afflict you: and I will save her that is lame, and gather those that were driven out; and I will get them praise and fame in every land where they have been put to shame. ²⁰ At that time I will bring you in, and at that time I will gather you; for I will give you honor and praise among all the peoples of the earth, when I restore your fortunes before your eyes, says the LORD.

²⁷ Isaiah cries out concerning Israel: “Though the number of the Israelites is like the sand of the sea, only the remnant will be saved.

⁵ So too at the present time there is a remnant, chosen by grace.

⁴ Even if the LORD had banished you to the ends of the heavens, the LORD your God will gather you from there

⁵ By awesome deeds you answer us in righteousness, O God of our salvation. You are trusted to the ends of the earth and the farthest sea.

³ He has remembered His mercy and His faithfulness to the house of Israel; all the ends of the earth have seen the salvation of our God.

³ and gathered from the lands, from east and from west, from north and from south.

¹¹ He tends his flock like a shepherd. He gathers the lambs in his arms and carries them close to his heart. He gently leads those that have young.

¹⁶ And I will lead the blind by a way they knew not; I will lead them in paths they never knew; I will make darkness into light before them, and crooked places a level place. I do these things to them and do not forsake them;

⁶ I will tell the north, 'Give them up!' and tell the south, 'Don't hold them back! Bring My sons from far, and My daughters from the ends of the earth--

²² Turn to Me and be saved, all the ends of the earth; for I am God, and there is no other.

¹⁰ the LORD hath made bare his holy arm in the sight of all the nations; and all the ends of the earth shall see the salvation of our God.

¹² Go, proclaim these words to the north, and say, 'Return, unfaithful Israel,' declares the LORD. 'I won't look on you in anger, for I am gracious,' declares the LORD. 'I won't remain angry forever.

⁸ but they'll say, 'As surely as the LORD lives who brought the descendants of the Israelites from the land of the north and from all the lands where I had driven them and brought them into the land.' Then they'll live in their own land."

¹⁴ 'I will let you find me, declares the LORD. I will bring you back from captivity. I will gather you from all the nations and places where I have scattered you,' declares the LORD. 'I will bring you back from the place where you are being held captive.'

³⁴ And I will bring you out from among the peoples and gather you from the countries where you have been scattered with a strong hand and an up lifted arm and with out poured wrath.

⁴¹ I will accept you as a sweet aroma when I bring you out from the peoples and gather you out of the countries in which you have been scattered. And I will be made holy in you in the sight of the nations.

¹³ And I will bring them out from the peoples, and I will gather them from the countries, and I will bring them to their soil, and I will feed them on the mountains of Israel, in the valleys, and in all of the settlements of the land.

¹⁶ "I will seek the lost. I will bring back the scattered. I will bind up the broken and strengthen the sick. The fat and the strong I will destroy. I will feed them with judgment."

⁶ In that day, says the LORD, I will gather the lame, and I will gather the banished, and the one I have afflicted.

¹⁹ Behold, at that time I will deal with all that afflict you: and I will save her that is lame, and gather those that were driven out; and I will get them praise and fame in every land where they have been put to shame.

⁶ "Woe! Woe! Flee from the land of the north," declares the LORD, "for I have scattered you like the four winds of the heavens," declares the LORD.

²⁰ A bruised reed He will not break, and a smoldering wick He will not extinguish, till He leads justice to victory.

¹⁵ When they had finished breakfast, Jesus said to Simon Peter, "Simon, son of John, do you love me more than these?" He said to him, "Yes, Lord; you know that I love you." He said to him, "Feed my lambs."

¹⁰ For if someone with a weak conscience sees you who are well informed eating in an idol’s temple, will he not be encouraged to eat food sacrificed to idols?

¹⁴ And we urge you, brethren, admonish the idlers, encourage the fainthearted, help the weak, be patient with everyone.

¹⁵ For we do not have a high priest who is unable to sympathize with our weaknesses, but we have one who was tempted in every way that we are, yet was without sin.

¹² Therefore strengthen your limp hands and weak knees.

²² You are to say to Pharaoh, 'This is what the LORD says: "Israel is my firstborn son.

⁶ "Is this how you repay the LORD, you foolish and unwise people? Is he not your Father and creator, who made you and formed you?

¹⁰ and blessed the Lord in the presence of the assembly, saying, Blessed art thou Lord God of Israel, our Father, from everlasting to everlasting.

² He makes me lie down in green pastures. He leads me beside still waters.

⁵ Those who sow in tears will reap in joy. ⁶ He who goes out weeping, carrying seed for sowing, will certainly come again with joy, carrying his sheaves.

⁶ Then the lame shall leap like a deer, and the tongue of the dumb shall sing. For waters shall break out in the wilderness, and streams in the desert. ⁷ And the glowing sand will become a pool and the thirsty ground springs of water. In the habitation of jackals, where they lay, will be grass with reeds and rushes. ⁸ And a highway will be there, and it will be called the Way of Holiness. The unclean shall not pass over it, but it will be for those who walk in the Way. Wicked fools will not go there.

³ A voice of one calling: "In the wilderness prepare the way for the LORD. Make straight in the desert a highway for our God. ⁴ "Every valley will be raised up! Every mountain and hill made low. The rough ground will become level and the rugged places a plain.

¹⁷ "The poor and needy search for water, but there is none! Their tongues are parched with thirst. But I the LORD will answer them. I, the God of Israel, will not forsake them. ¹⁸ "I will make rivers flow on barren heights, and springs within the valleys. I will turn the desert into pools of water, and the parched ground into springs. ¹⁹ "I will put the cedar and the acacia, the myrtle and the olive in the desert. I will set pines in the wasteland, the fir and the cypress together.

¹⁶ Thus says the LORD, who makes a way in the sea, and a path in the mighty waters; ¹⁷ who brings out chariot and horse, army and mighty one. Together they lie down; they cannot rise. They are extinguished, quenched like a wick. ¹⁸ Remember not former things, and look not on things of old. ¹⁹ Look! I am about to do a new thing! Now it sprouts! Do you not perceive it? Indeed, I will make a way in the wilderness, rivers in the desert.

⁹ to say to the bound, Come! To them in darkness, Expose! They graze in the ways with their pastures in all the barrens: ¹⁰ They shall not hunger nor shall they thirst, nor shall the burning wind nor the sun smite them; but he who hath compassion on them will comfort them and lead them to bursting springs of water. ¹¹ "I will make all my mountains a road. My highways will be raised up.

¹⁴ And one shall say, "Build up, build up! Clear the way! Remove the obstacles from the way of my people!"

¹³ Who led them through the depths, like a horse in the wilderness, so that they didn’t stumble?

¹⁶ For you are our father, although Abraham does not know us, and Israel does not acknowledge us. You, the LORD are our father, Our Redeemer from of old is your name.

⁸ But now, O LORD, you are our Father. We are the clay and you our potter and we are all the work of your hand.

⁴ Have you not just called out to me, 'My father, you are the friend of my youth

¹⁹ "I said, 'How I wanted to treat you like children, and give you a pleasant land, the most beautiful inheritance of the nations.' I said, 'You will call me, my father, and won't turn back from following me.'

²⁰ "Is Ephraim my dear son? Is he a darling child? Indeed, as often as I've spoken about him, I surely still remember him. Therefore I deeply yearn for him. I'll surely have great compassion on him," declares the LORD.

¹² As a shepherd seeks his flock in the day that he is among his scattered sheep, so I will seek out My sheep and will deliver them from all the places where they were scattered in a day of cloud and thick cloud. ¹³ And I will bring them out from the peoples, and I will gather them from the countries, and I will bring them to their soil, and I will feed them on the mountains of Israel, in the valleys, and in all of the settlements of the land. ¹⁴ I will feed them in good pasture. On the lofty mountain of Israel shall be their folds; there they shall lie down and rest there in luxurious ease, and be fed in a rich pasture on the mountains of Israel.

¹⁷ So now, O God, listen to the prayer of your servant and to his requests, and look with favor on your desolate sanctuary, for the sake of the Lord. ¹⁸ My God, turn your ear, and hear; open your eyes, and see our desolation, and the city which is called by your name. For we do not present our petitions before you for our righteousness, but for your great mercy.

⁴ He struggled with the angel and won. Jacob cried and pleaded with him. Jacob found him at Bethel, and he talked with him there.

¹⁰ I will pour on the house of David, and on the inhabitants of Jerusalem, the spirit of grace and of supplication; and they will look to Me whom they have pierced; and they shall mourn for him, as one mourns for his only son, and will grieve bitterly for him, as one grieves for his firstborn.

³ This is he who was spoken of through the prophet Isaiah: “A voice of one calling in the wilderness, ‘Prepare the way for the Lord, make straight paths for Him.’”

⁴ Blessed are those who mourn, for they will be comforted.

⁹ So then, this is how you should pray: ‘Our Father in heaven, hallowed be Your name,

⁴ as it is written in the book of the words of Isaiah the prophet: “A voice of one calling in the wilderness, ‘Prepare the way for the Lord; make straight paths for Him.’ ⁵ Every valley shall be filled in, and every mountain and hill made low. The crooked ways shall be made straight, and the rough ways smooth. ⁶ And all mankind will see God’s salvation.”

²¹ Blessed are you who hunger now, for you will be satisfied. Blessed are you who weep now, for you will laugh.

²⁶ In the same way, the Spirit helps us in our weakness. For we do not know how we ought to pray, but the Spirit Himself intercedes for us with groans too deep for words.

¹⁸ "I will be a Father to you, and you will be My sons and daughters, says the LORD Almighty."

⁹ And now I rejoice, not because you were made sorrowful, but because your sorrow led you to repentance. For you felt the sorrow that God had intended, and so were not harmed in any way by us. ¹⁰ Godly sorrow brings repentance that leads to salvation without regret, but worldly sorrow brings death. ¹¹ For behold what this very thing, godly sorrow, has produced in you: what earnestness, what eagerness to clear yourselves, what indignation, what alarm, what longing, what zeal, what readiness to see justice done! At every point you have proved yourselves to be innocent in this matter.

⁷ During the days of Jesus’ earthly life, He offered up prayers and petitions with loud cries and tears to the One who could save Him from death, and He was heard because of His reverence.

¹³ Make straight paths for your feet, so that the lame will not be debilitated, but rather healed.

²³ and to the church of the firstborn, who are enrolled in heaven; and to God the Judge of all, and to the spirits of righteous men made perfect;

¹⁷ For the Lamb in the center of the throne will be their shepherd, and he will guide them to springs of living water; and God will wipe away every tear from their eyes."

⁵ From these the maritime peoples spread out into their territories by their clans within their nations, each with its own language.

²⁶ I said: "I will scatter them, erasing their memory from the human race,

¹⁰ The kings of Tarshish and of the isles will bring tribute (presents). The kings of Sheba and Seba will offer gifts.

¹⁴ They raise their voices and shout for joy. From the west they acclaim the LORD's majesty.

¹² In that day the LORD will thresh from the flowing Euphrates River to the Wadi (streambed) of Egypt. You, O Israelites, will be gathered up one by one.

¹ "Be silent before me, you islands! Let the nations renew their strength! Let them come forward and speak. Let us meet together at the place of judgment.

⁴ He will not fail nor be discouraged, until he has set justice in the earth, and the islands wait for his law.”

¹⁰ Sing to the LORD a new song, and his praise from the end of the earth, you who go down to the sea, and all that is in it, the islands and their inhabitants.

⁷ "For a brief moment I abandoned you, but with deep compassion I will bring you back.

⁹ Surely the islands shall wait for me, and the ships of Tarshish first, to bring your sons from far, their silver and their gold with them, for the name of the LORD your God, and for the Holy One of Israel, because he has glorified you.

¹⁹ "I will set up a sign among them and send some of their survivors to the nations: to Tarshish, Put and Lud, Meshech, Rosh, Tubal, Javan, and to the distant coastlands who have not heard of my fame or seen my glory. They will tell about my glory among the nations.

²² all the kings of Tyre and Sidon; the kings of the Isles that are beyond the sea;

¹⁷ "The people of Israel are like scattered sheep that lions have chased. The first to devour them was the king of Assyria. The last to gnaw at their bones was King Nebuchadnezzar of Babylon.

² »You should burn one-third of the hair in the fire at the center of the city when the siege is over. Take one third and strike it with the sword all around the city. The remaining one third you shall scatter to the wind. I will unsheathe a sword behind them.

¹⁰ Therefore the fathers will eat the sons within you, and the sons will eat their fathers. I will execute judgments on you; and I will scatter the whole remnant of you to all the winds.

¹⁶ Therefore say, Thus says the Sovereign LORD: Whereas I have removed them far off among the nations, and whereas I have scattered them among the countries, yet will I be to them a sanctuary for a little while in the countries where they have come.

¹² As a shepherd seeks his flock in the day that he is among his scattered sheep, so I will seek out My sheep and will deliver them from all the places where they were scattered in a day of cloud and thick cloud.

²⁴ And my servant David will be king over them and they all will have one shepherd. They will also walk in my ordinances and observe my statutes and do them.

⁴ And he will stand and shepherd his flock in the strength of the LORD, in the majesty of the name of the LORD his God. And they will live, for now he will be great unto the ends of the earth.

¹¹ The LORD shall be grim upon them, and destroy all the goods in the land. And all the Isles of the Heathen shall worship him, every man in his place.

¹⁶ "the LORD their God will save them in that day like the flock of his people. They will be like the stones in a crown lifted high over his land.

³² Do not be afraid, little flock, for your Father is pleased to give you the kingdom.

²⁷ My sheep listen to my voice; I know them, and they follow me;

⁵² and not only for the nation, but also for the scattered children of God, to gather them together into one.

²⁸ Keep watch over yourselves and the entire flock of which the Holy Spirit has made you overseers. Be shepherds of the church of God, which He purchased with His own blood. ²⁹ I know that after my departure, savage wolves will come in among you and will not spare the flock.

⁶ Listen to my cry, for I am in desperate need. Deliver me from my persecutors, for they are too strong for me.

²⁰ Go out from Babylon! Flee from Chaldea! Proclaim it with a shout of rejoicing; proclaim this! Send it forth to the end of the earth; say, "the LORD has redeemed his servant Jacob!"

²⁴ Can prey be taken from a warrior? Or can prisoners of a tyrant be rescued?

²¹ "I will deliver you from the hand of the wicked. I will redeem you from the grasp of the cruel."

³³ Thus says the LORD Almighty: "The people of Israel are oppressed, and the people of Judah likewise, for all their captors have seized them, they refuse to let them go free.

¹⁴ I will ransom them from the power of the grave; I will redeem them from death: O death, I will be your plagues; O grave, I will be your destruction: pity shall be hid from my eyes.

²⁹ How can anyone enter a strong man’s house and steal his possessions, unless he first ties up the strong man? Then he can plunder his house.

²⁸ just as the Son of Man did not come to be served, but to serve, and to give his life as a ransom for many."

²⁹ Jesus replied, “You are mistaken because you do not know the Scriptures or the power of God.

²¹ When a strong man, fully armed, guards his own palace, his possessions are safe. ²² But when someone stronger attacks and overpowers him, he takes away the armor on which the man relied, and then he divides up his plunder.

¹⁴ who gave himself for us to redeem us from all wickedness and to purify for himself a people that are his very own, zealous for good deeds.

¹⁴ Therefore, since the children have flesh and blood, He too shared in their humanity, so that by His death He might destroy him who holds the power of death, that is, the devil, ¹⁵ and free those who all their lives were held in slavery by their fear of death.

⁴ But with you there is forgiveness, so that you may be feared.

³⁰ You will be like an oak whose leaves wither and like a garden without water.

² In the last days the mountain of the house of the LORD will be established as the highest of the mountains and exalted above the hills. All the nations will stream to it. ³ Then many people will come and say: "Let us go to the mountain of the LORD, to the House of the God of Jacob. He will teach us his ways so that we may live by them." The law will go out from Zion. The word of the LORD will go out from Jerusalem. ⁴ He will judge between the nations, and will decide concerning many peoples. They shall beat their swords into plowshares, and their spears into pruning hooks. Nation shall not lift up sword against nation, neither shall they learn war any more. ⁵ O house of Jacob, come, let us walk in the light of the Lord!

¹ In that day you will say: "I will praise you, O LORD. Although you were angry with me, your anger has turned away and you have comforted me. ² "Truly God is my salvation! I will trust and not be afraid. the LORD… the LORD is my strength and my song! He has become my salvation." ³ With joy (gladness) you will draw water from the wells of salvation.

¹⁰ And the ransomed of the LORD shall return and enter Zion, with singing and everlasting joy on their head; gladness and joy shall reach them; and sorrow and sighing shall flee.

¹¹ the LORD's ransomed will return. They will enter Zion with singing! Everlasting joy will crown their heads. Gladness and joy will overtake them, and sorrow and sighing will flee away.

¹¹ the LORD will continually guide you. He will satisfy your desire in scorched places and give strength to your bones. You will be like a watered garden and like a spring of water whose waters do not fail.

²⁰ Your sun will no more go down, nor your moon withdraw; for the LORD will be your everlasting light, and the days of your mourning will be ended.

¹⁹ "I will rejoice over Jerusalem and take delight in my people. The sound of weeping and of crying will be heard in it no more."

⁴ "I will build you and you will be rebuilt, O virgin of Israel! You will take up your tambourines and go to the dances of the merrymakers.

⁹ "Jerusalem will be my source of joy, praise, and honor. All the nations on earth will hear about all the blessings that I will give to Jerusalem. They will be afraid and tremble because of all the prosperity that I will provide for it.'" ¹⁰ "This is what the LORD says: 'You are saying about this place, "It is a ruin without people and without animals." Yet in the cities of Judah and the streets of Jerusalem which are desolate places without inhabitants and without animals, there will again be heard ¹¹ "Yes, you will hear the sounds of joy and happiness and the sounds of brides and grooms. You will hear those who bring thank offerings to the LORD's Temple."' "'They will say: Give thanks to the LORD Almighty because the LORD is good, because his mercy endures forever. I will restore the prosperity of the land to what they were before,"' says the LORD.

²³ I will plant it in the mountain of the height of Israel; and it will produce boughs, and bear fruit, and be a good cedar. Birds of every kind will dwell in the shade of its branches.

⁴⁰ For in my holy mountain, in the mountain of the height of Israel, says the Sovereign LORD, there will all the house of Israel, all of them, serve me in the land. There I will accept them and there I will require your offerings and the first-fruits of your oblations, with all your holy things.

²⁰ I will even betroth you to me in faithfulness and you will know the LORD. ²¹ It will happen in that day, I will respond," says the LORD, "I will respond to the heavens, and they will respond to the earth; ²² and the earth will respond to the grain, and the new wine, and the oil; and they will respond to Jezreel. ²³ I will plant my people in the land for myself. I will show mercy on her who has received no mercy I will say to those who are not my people, 'You are my people!' and they will say, 'You are my God.'"

⁵ Afterward the children of Israel shall return, and seek the LORD their God, and David their king, and shall come with trembling to the LORD and to his blessings in the last days.

¹⁸ It will happen in that day, that the mountains will drop down sweet wine, the hills will flow with milk, all the brooks of Judah will flow with waters, and a fountain will flow out from the LORD's house, and will water the valley of Shittim.

¹ But in the latter days, it will happen that the mountain of the LORD's temple will be established on the top of the mountains, and it will be exalted above the hills; and peoples will stream to it. ² And many nations will come and say, "Come! Let us go up to the mountain of the LORD, and to the temple of the God of Jacob, that he may teach us his ways, and that we may walk in his paths," for the law will go out from Zion, and the word of the LORD from Jerusalem.

¹⁵ The LORD of hosts will defend them; and they will destroy and overcome with sling stones; and they will drink, and roar as through wine; and they will be filled like bowls, like the corners of the altar. ¹⁶ "the LORD their God will save them in that day like the flock of his people. They will be like the stones in a crown lifted high over his land. ¹⁷ For how great is his goodness, and how great is his beauty! Grain will make the young men thrive, and new wine the young women.

²² So also you have sorrow now, but I will see you again and your hearts will rejoice, and no one will take away your joy.

⁴ Or do you disregard the riches of His kindness, tolerance, and patience, not realizing that God’s kindness leads you to repentance?

⁴ He will wipe away every tear from their eyes, and there will be no more death or mourning or crying or pain, for the former things have passed away.”

²² They joyfully kept the feast of unleavened bread for seven days. the LORD filled them with joy by turning the heart of the king of Assyria to them to give them help in the work of the house of God, the God of Israel.

²⁷ At the dedication of the wall of Jerusalem, they invited the Levites to come from wherever they lived to Jerusalem so they could celebrate the dedication with joy, thanksgiving, and songs, accompanied by cymbals, lyres, and harps.

⁴³ And on that day they offered great sacrifices, and rejoiced. Because God had given them great joy, therefore their wives and their children rejoiced, and the joy of Jerusalem was heard at a great distance.

²² as the days in which the Jews rested from their enemies, and the month which was turned to them from sorrow to joy, and from mourning into a good day; that they should make them days of feasting and joy, and of sending portions to one another, and gifts to the poor.

¹¹ You have turned my wailing into my dancing. You have removed my sackcloth and clothed me with joy

³ the LORD will surely comfort Zion. He will look with compassion on all her ruins. He will make her deserts like Eden and her wastelands like the garden of the LORD. Joy and gladness will be found in her along with thanksgiving and the sound of singing.

³ to give for those in mourning in Zion, to give them a head wrap instead of ashes, the oil of joy instead of mourning, a garment of praise instead of a faint spirit. And they will be called oaks of righteousness, the planting of the LORD, to show his glory.

¹⁸ "Be glad and rejoice forever in what I will create, for I will create Jerusalem to be a delight and its people a joy. ¹⁹ "I will rejoice over Jerusalem and take delight in my people. The sound of weeping and of crying will be heard in it no more."

⁴ Thus says the LORD of hosts: 'Old men and old women shall again sit in the public squares of Jerusalem, each with staff in hand because of great age. ⁵ and the streets of the city shall be filled with boys and girls playing in her streets.

¹⁹ Thus says the LORD of hosts: "The fasts of the fourth fifth, seventh, and tenth months shall be for the house of Judah joy and gladness, and cheerful feasts. Therefore love truth and peace."

⁸ About Levi he said:May your Thummim and your Urim be for your benign man whom you probed at Massah; you contended with him at the waters of Meribah, ⁹ He said of his father, and of his mother, 'I have not seen him.' He didn't acknowledge his brothers, nor did he know his own children; for they have observed your word, and keep your covenant. ¹⁰ "They will teach your ordinances to Jacob, and your Law to Israel. They will burn incense before you, and whole burnt offerings on your altar. ¹¹ Bless, LORD, his substance, and accept the work of his hands. Smite through the loins of those who rise up against him, and of those who hate him, that they not rise again.

⁴¹ Now therefore arise, O LORD God, into your resting place, you, and the ark of your strength: let your priests, O LORD God, be clothed with salvation, and let your saints rejoice in goodness.

³⁹ For the sons of Israel and the sons of Levi shall bring the offering of the grain, of the new wine, and the oil, to the rooms where the vessels of the sanctuary are, and the priests who minister, and the gatekeepers and the singers. And we will not forsake the house of our God.

¹⁵ By contrast, I in righteousness shall see your face. Upon awakening I will be satisfied seeing your form.

⁸ They are refreshed with the fullness of your house, and you give them drink from the river of your delights.

⁵ My soul will be satisfied as with the best and richest food, and with joyful lips my mouth will praise.

⁴ Blessed is the one you choose and bring near, that he may dwell in your courts. We will be filled with the goodness of your house, your holy temple.

⁹ For He satisfies the empty soul, and fills the hungry soul with good things,

⁹ Let your priests be clothed with righteousness. Let your saints shout for joy!”

¹⁶ And I will clothe her priests with salvation, and her saints shall shout aloud for joy.

¹ I have come into my garden, my sister, [my] bride. I have gathered my myrrh with my spice. I have eaten my honeycomb with my honey. I have drunk my wine with my milk. Eat, O friends. Drink, yea. Drink abundantly, O beloved.

⁶ On this mountain the LORD Almighty will make a feast of rich food for all peoples, a feast of well-aged wines, of rich food filled with marrow, of well-aged wines strained clear of dregs.

¹ Come, all you who are thirsty, come to the water. You, who have no money, come, buy and eat! Come, buy wine and milk without money and without cost. ² Why spend money on what is not bread, and your labor on what does not satisfy? Listen, listen to me, and eat what is good, and you will delight in the richest of fare. ³ Give ear and come to me; listen to me, that you may live. I will make an everlasting covenant with you, my faithful love promised to David.

⁶ But you will be named the priests of the LORD. Men will call you the ministers of our God. You will eat the wealth of the nations and in their glory you will boast yourselves.

¹⁰ "Rejoice with Jerusalem, and be glad for her, all you who love her: rejoice for joy with her, all you who mourn over her; ¹¹ "You will nurse and be satisfied from her comforting breasts. You will nurse and be satisfied at her full breasts." ¹² This is what the LORD says: "I will offer you peace like a river and the wealth of the nations like an overflowing stream. You will nurse and be carried in Jerusalem's arms and cuddled on her knees. ¹³ "As a mother comforts her child, so I will comfort you. You will be comforted in Jerusalem." ¹⁴ When you see it, your heart will rejoice and you will flourish like new grass. The power of the LORD will be made known to his servants, but he will condemn his enemies.

²⁵ For I shall feed the hungry soul, and refresh all faint hearts."

⁹ "Jerusalem will be my source of joy, praise, and honor. All the nations on earth will hear about all the blessings that I will give to Jerusalem. They will be afraid and tremble because of all the prosperity that I will provide for it.'"

⁶ Blessed are those who hunger and thirst for righteousness, for they will be filled.

³ Blessed be the God and Father of our Lord Jesus Christ, who has blessed us in Christ with every spiritual blessing in the heavenly realms.

¹⁹ and to know Christ's love which surpasses knowledge, that you may be filled with all the fullness of God.

⁹ But you are a chosen race, a royal priesthood, a holy nation, a people belonging to God; that you should declare the praises of him who has called you out of darkness into his marvellous light.

¹⁰ You have made them to be a kingdom and priests to our God, and they will reign on the earth."

¹⁶ Never again will they hunger, never again will they thirst, never shall the sun strike them, nor any scorching heat;" ¹⁷ For the Lamb in the center of the throne will be their shepherd, and he will guide them to springs of living water; and God will wipe away every tear from their eyes."

²⁴ Enoch walked with God. Then he was no more, because God took (moved) him away.

¹⁹ Rachel died, and was buried in the way to Ephrath (that is, Bethlehem).

³⁵ And all his sons and all his daughters rose up to comfort him; but he refused to be comforted; and he said, For I will go down to the grave to my son mourning. And his father wept for him

¹³ Then they said, We your servants are twelve brothers, sons of one man in the land of Canaan; the youngest of us is now with our father, and one is dead.

³⁶ Jacob, their father, said to them, "You have bereaved me of my children. Joseph is no more, Simeon is no more, and you want to take Benjamin away. All these things are against me."

²⁵ Gibeon, Ramah, Beeroth,

¹⁷ He always returned to Ramah where his home was, and there he judged Israel. He built there an altar to the LORD.

²¹ And why do you not pardon my transgression and take away my guilt? For now I shall lie in the dust, and you will seek me, but I will be no more."

³⁶ yet he passed away, and, lo, he was not; and I looked for him, but he could not be found.

² In the day of my trouble, I sought the Lord: my hand was stretched out in the night, and slacked not; my soul refused to be comforted.

⁴ I said: "Turn away from me. Let me weep bitterly. Do not try to console me over the destruction of my people."

²⁰ My tent is destroyed, and all my cords are broken. My sons have gone forth from me, and they are not. There is none to spread my tent any more, and to set up my curtains.

¹ This is the word that came to Jeremiah from the LORD after Nebuzaradan the captain of the guard had released him from Ramah, when he was bound in chains, along with all the exiles from Jerusalem and Judah who were being taken into exile in Babylon.

⁷ our fathers sinned and are not; and we bear their perversities:

¹⁰ and He spreads it before me, and it is written in front and behind, and written on it [are] lamentations, and mourning, and woe!"

¹⁶ When Herod saw that he had been outwitted by the Magi, he was filled with rage. Sending orders, he put to death all the boys in Bethlehem and its vicinity who were two years old and under, according to the time he had learned from the Magi. ¹⁷ Then what was spoken through the prophet Jeremiah was fulfilled: ¹⁸ "A voice was heard in Ramah, weeping, and great mourning; Rachel weeping for her children, and refusing to be comforted, because they were no more."

³¹ And he washed his face, and went out, and controlled himself, and said, Serve the food.

¹ Upon this Joseph could not restrain himself before all his attendants, but said, Dismiss all from me. So there was no attendant with Joseph when he made himself known to his brothers,

¹² May the LORD repay your work, and a full reward be given you from the LORD, the God of Israel, under whose wings you have come to take refuge."

⁷ But you be strong, and don't let your hands be slack; for your work will be rewarded.”

⁵ Then the heads of fathers of Judah and Benjamin and the priests and the Levites, even all whose spirit God had stirred, rose up to go up to build the house of the LORD which is in Jerusalem. ⁶ And all of their neighbors helped them with objects of silver, gold, possessions, domestic animals, and with valuable gifts—besides all of the freewill offering. ⁷ Also king Cyrus brought forth the vessels of the house of the Lord, which Nebuchadnezzar had brought away out of Jerusalem, and had placed in the house of his god: ⁸ And Cyrus king of Persia brought them forth by the hand of Mithredath the treasurer, who counted them out to Sheshbazzar the prince of Judah. ⁹ Here is a partial inventory: Gold dishes: 30 Silver dishes: 1,000 Sacrificial knives: 29 ¹⁰ There were also 30 gold bowls, 410 matching silver bowls and 1,000 other articles. ¹¹ All the articles of gold and silver numbered 5,400. Sheshbazzar brought all of them along with the exiles who traveled from Babylon to Jerusalem.

⁵ For His anger is only a moment; in His favor is life. Weeping may endure for a night, but joy comes in the morning.

⁷ Go, eat your bread with mirth, and drink your wine with a joyful heart; for now God has favorably accepted your works.

⁸ He will swallow up death forever! The Sovereign Sovereign LORD will wipe away the tears from all faces. He will take away the disgrace of His people from the earth. the LORD has spoken!

¹⁹ You will live in Zion, in Jerusalem. You will not cry anymore. the LORD will certainly have pity on you when you cry for help. As soon as he hears you, he will answer you.

¹⁸ "This is what the LORD says: 'I'm going to restore the fortunes of the tents of Jacob and have compassion on his dwellings. A city will be rebuilt on its ruins and a palace will sit on its rightful place.

⁴ "I will build you and you will be rebuilt, O virgin of Israel! You will take up your tambourines and go to the dances of the merrymakers. ⁵ Again you will plant vineyards on the mountains of Samaria. The planters will plant, and will enjoy its fruit.

¹¹ "Yes, you will hear the sounds of joy and happiness and the sounds of brides and grooms. You will hear those who bring thank offerings to the LORD's Temple."' "'They will say: Give thanks to the LORD Almighty because the LORD is good, because his mercy endures forever. I will restore the prosperity of the land to what they were before,"' says the LORD.

¹⁷ Therefore say, Thus says the Sovereign LORD: I will gather you from the peoples and assemble you out of the countries where you have been scattered, and I will give you the land of Israel. ¹⁸ and they shall come hither and remove all its abominations and all its iniquities out of it;

⁴¹ I will accept you as a sweet aroma when I bring you out from the peoples and gather you out of the countries in which you have been scattered. And I will be made holy in you in the sight of the nations. ⁴² And you shall know that I am the LORD when I bring you into the land of Israel, to the land for which I lifted up My hand to give it to your fathers.

³⁸ When they came to the home of the synagogue leader, Jesus saw mass confusion. People were crying and sobbing loudly. ³⁹ He went inside and asked, “Why all this commotion and weeping? The child is not dead, but asleep.”

¹³ They asked her, "Lady, why are you crying?" She told them, "Because they have taken away my Lord, and I don't know where they have put him." ¹⁴ Saying this, she turned around and saw Jesus standing there, but she did not know that it was Jesus. ¹⁵ Jesus asked her, "Dear lady, why are you crying? Who are you looking for?" Thinking he was the gardener, she said to him, "Sir, if you have carried him away, tell me where you have put him, and I will take him away."

¹⁴ For since we believe that Jesus died and rose again, we also believe that God will bring with Jesus those who have fallen asleep in Him.

¹⁰ God is not unjust. He will not forget your work and the love you have shown for His name as you have ministered to the saints and continue to do so.

⁶ And without faith it is impossible to please God, for anyone who comes to him must believe that he exists and that he rewards those who earnestly seek him.

¹³ You will arise to extend compassion on Zion, for it is time to show her favor the appointed time has come. ¹⁴ (102:15) For thy servants hold dear her stones, and her very dust they cherish.

¹³ If there is a tenth left in it, that also will in turn be consumed, as a terebinth, and as an oak, whose stump remains when they are cut down; so the holy seed is its stock.”

¹¹ It will happen in that day that the Lord will set his hand again the second time to recover the remnant that is left of his people from Assyria, from Egypt, from Pathros, from Cush, from Elam, from Shinar, from Hamath, and from the islands of the sea. ¹² And he will erect a standard for the nations, and gather together the outcasts of Israel, and assemble the dispersed of Juda from the four quarters of the earth. ¹³ Then the jealousy of Ephraim will depart. Those who harass Judah will be destroyed. Ephraim will not be jealous of Judah, and Judah will not harass Ephraim. ¹⁴ They will swoop down on the slopes of the Philistines on the west. Together they will plunder the sons of the east. They will possess Edom and Moab, and the sons of Ammon will be subject to them. ¹⁵ the LORD will utterly destroy the tongue of the Egyptian sea; and with his scorching wind he will wave his hand over the River, and will split it into seven streams, and cause men to march over in sandals. ¹⁶ And there shall be a highway for the remnant of His people, those left from Assyria; as it was to Israel in the day that he came up out of the land of Egypt.

¹¹ For I know the plans that I have for you,' says the LORD, 'plans for your welfare, and not for calamity, to give you hope and a future. ¹² And you will call upon me and you will go and pray to me and I will listen to you. ¹³ You will seek me and find me when you search for me with all your heart. ¹⁴ 'I will let you find me, declares the LORD. I will bring you back from captivity. I will gather you from all the nations and places where I have scattered you,' declares the LORD. 'I will bring you back from the place where you are being held captive.' ¹⁵ "Indeed, you have said, 'The LORD has raised up prophets for us in Babylon.' ¹⁶ "But this is what the LORD says about the king who sits on David's throne, and about the people who live in this city your brothers who didn't go with you into exile:

²⁷ But do not fear, O Jacob my servant, nor be dismayed, O Israel. For behold, I will save you from afar and your seed from the land of their captivity. And Jacob will return and will be quiet and at ease and none will make him afraid. ²⁸ "'Do not be afraid, my servant Jacob," declares the LORD. "I am with you. I will completely destroy all the nations where I scattered you, but I will not completely destroy you. I will correct you with justice. I will not let you go entirely unpunished.'"

¹⁸ So I say, "My strength is gone as is my hope in the LORD."

²¹ But this I call to my mind; therefore I have hope:

²⁶ Teth It is good to wait quietly in the salvation of the LORD.

¹¹ Then he said to me, Son of man, these bones are the whole house of Israel. Behold, they say, Our bones are dried up, and our hope is lost. We are clean cut off. ¹² Prophesy and tell them: 'This is what the Sovereign LORD says: "My people, I will open your graves and take you out of them. I will bring you to Israel. ¹³ So shall ye know that I am the LORD, when I open your graves, and bring you out of them. ¹⁴ 'I will put my Spirit in you, and you will live. I will place you in your own land. Then you will know that I, the LORD, have spoken, and I have done it,' declares the LORD."

²⁵ "'"They will live in the land that I gave my servant Jacob, the land where their ancestors lived. They, their children, and their grandchildren will live in it for a very long time. My servant David will be their prince for a very long time.

²⁸ then they shall know that I am the LORD their God who exiled them among the nations. But I have gathered them to their own land and have not left any of them there.

¹⁵ »I will give her vineyards from there and the valley of Achor for a door of hope. She will sing there as in the days of her youth and in the day when she came up out of Egypt.

⁸ Look! The eyes of the Lord GOD are on the sinful kingdom. I will destroy it from the face of the earth; but I will not totally destroy the house of Jacob," declares the LORD. ⁹ "Yes, look, I am going to command and I will shake the house of Israel among all the nations like one who shakes with a sieve, but not a pebble will fall to the ground.

²² If those days had not been cut short, nobody would be saved. But for the sake of the elect, those days will be shortened.

²³ And if they do not persist in unbelief, they will be grafted in, for God is able to graft them in again. ²⁴ For if you were cut off from an olive tree which is wild by nature, and contrary to nature were grafted onto a good olive tree: how much more shall these, which are the natural branches, be grafted into their own olive tree? ²⁵ I do not want you to be ignorant of this mystery, brothers, so that you may not be conceited: Israel has experienced a hardening in part until the full number of the Gentiles has come in. ²⁶ And so all Israel will be saved, as it is written: “The Deliverer will come from Zion, He will remove godlessness from Jacob.

¹⁷ "Blessed is the person whom God corrects. Do not despise discipline from the Almighty.

²⁷ "He comes to men and says: 'I sinned, and perverted what was right, but I did not get what I deserved.' ²⁸ "He redeemed me from going down to the pit, and I will live to enjoy the light.

⁹ Do not be like the horse, or like the mule, which have no understanding, who are controlled by bit and bridle, or else they will not come near to you.

⁸ Deliver me from all my transgressions. Do not make me the reproach of the foolish. ⁹ I remain silent; I do not open my mouth, for you are the one who acted

³ Restore us, God. Cause your face to shine, and we will be saved.

⁷ Restore us, God of hosts. Cause your face to shine, and we will be saved.

¹⁹ Restore us, O LORD God of hosts, cause your face to shine; and we shall be saved.

⁴ Restore us, O God of our salvation, And take away thy vexation towards us.

¹² Blessed is the man whom you discipline, LORD, and teach out of your Law;

¹⁹ For he looketh down from his sanctuary; out of the heaven doth the LORD behold the earth, ²⁰ to hear the groans of the prisoner; to free those who are condemned to death;

⁷⁵ I know, O LORD, that your judgments are righteous, and that in faithfulness you have afflicted me.

¹¹ My son, do not reject the LORD's discipline, and do not despise his correction,

³ A whip for the horse, a bridle for the donkey, and a rod for the back of fools.

¹ He that is stiff necked and will not be reformed, shall suddenly be destroyed without any help.

⁵ Why should you be beaten more, that you revolt more and more? The whole head is sick, and the whole heart faint.

¹³ Yet the people have not turned to him who killed them, nor have they sought the LORD Almighty.

²⁰ Your sons have fainted. They lie at the head of every street. They are like antelope caught in a net. They are filled with the rage of the LORD and the rebuke of your God.

⁷ He was oppressed, and he was afflicted, yet he did not open his mouth; he was brought as a lamb to the slaughter, and as a sheep before her shearers is dumb, so he did not open his mouth.

¹⁵ For thus says the high and lofty one who resides forever, and whose name is holy: "I reside in a high and holy place, and with the contrite and humble of spirit, to revive the spirit of the humble, and to revive the heart of the contrite. ¹⁶ For I will not contend forever, nor will I always be angry, for the spirit would faint before me, and the souls that I have made. ¹⁷ For I was angry and struck him for the iniquity of his gain; I hid Myself and was angry; yet he went, turning in his heart's way. ¹⁸ I have seen his ways, and will heal him. I will also lead him, and restore comforts to him and to his mourners.

³⁰ In vain I have stricken your sons; they received no correction. Your own sword has devoured your prophets, like a destroying lion.

²¹ "A voice is heard on the barren heights, the weeping and pleading of the children of Israel because they have perverted their way. They have forgotten the LORD their God." ²² Return, O apostate children, I will heal your backsliding. 'Look, we come to you, for you are the LORD our God.

²⁵ Let us lie down in our shame, and let our confusion cover us; for we have sinned against the LORD our God, we and our fathers, from our youth even to this day. We have not obeyed the LORD our God's voice.”

³ O LORD, are not Your eyes for the truth? You struck them, but they felt no pain. You consumed them, yet they refused to take correction. They made their faces harder than rock; they have refused to return.

¹⁴ Heal me, O LORD, and I will be healed! Save me and I will be saved! For you are my song of praise.

⁶ For there will be a day when the watchmen will call out on the hills of Ephraim, 'Arise, let's go up to Zion to the LORD our God.'"

⁹ They'll come crying, and I'll lead them as they pray for mercy. I'll make them walk by streams of water, along a straight path on which they won't stumble. For I am Israel's father, and Ephraim is my firstborn."

²⁷ It is good for a man that he bear the yoke while he is young. ²⁸ Let him sit alone and keep silence, because he has laid it on him. ²⁹ Let him put his mouth to the dust, there may yet be hope. ³⁰ Let him give his cheek to him who strikes him; let him be filled with insults.

²¹ Restore us to you, O LORD, that we will be restored; renew our days as of old.

¹⁶ For Israel is stubborn like a stubborn heifer; now shall the LORD feed them as a lamb in a large place?

¹² But, I, was like a moth, to Ephraim,—and like rotten wood to the house of Judah. ¹³ When Ephraim saw his disease and Judah his wound, then Ephraim went to Assyria and sent to the great king; but he is not able to make you well or give you help for your wound.

¹⁵ I will return again to my place until they acknowledge their guilt and seek my face; in their distress they will search me.

¹¹ Ephraim is a trained heifer that loves to thresh; so I will put a yoke on her beautiful neck. I will set a rider on Ephraim. Judah will plow. Jacob will break his clods.

⁸ "How can I give you up, Ephraim? How can I hand you over, Israel? How can I treat you like Admah? How can I make you like Zeboiim? My heart is changed within me. All my compassion is aroused. ⁹ "I will not carry out my fierce anger. I will not turn and devastate Ephraim. I am not man. I am God, the Holy One among you. I will not come against my city in wrath.

⁴ "I will heal their waywardness. I will love them freely; for my anger is turned away from him. ⁵ I will be like the dew to Israel. He will blossom like the lily, and send down his roots like Lebanon. ⁶ "His shoots will sprout and his beauty will be like the olive tree. His fragrance will be like the cedars of Lebanon. ⁷ Men will dwell in his shade. They will revive like the grain, and blossom like the vine. Their fragrance will be like the wine of Lebanon. ⁸ "O Ephraim, what more have I to do with idols? It is I who answer and look after you. I am like a luxuriant cypress and fruit comes from me."

² She obeyed not the voice. She received not correction. She trusted not in the LORD. She did not draw near to her God.

⁶ He will turn the hearts of the fathers to the children, and the hearts of the children to their fathers, lest I come and strike the earth with a curse.

¹⁷ And he will go on before the Lord in the spirit and power of Elijah, to turn the hearts of the fathers to their children, and the disobedient to the wisdom of the righteous—to make ready a people prepared for the Lord.”

²⁰ So he got up and went to his father. But while he was still in the distance, his father saw him and was filled with compassion. He ran to his son, embraced him, and kissed him.

²⁶ When God raised up His servant, He sent Him first to you to bless you by turning each of you from your wicked ways.”

¹³ For it is God who works in you to will and to act on behalf of His good pleasure.

⁵ And you have forgotten the exhortation that addresses you as sons: “My son, do not make light of the Lord’s discipline, or lose heart when He rebukes you.

¹⁶ Do not be deceived, my dear brothers. ¹⁷ Every good and perfect gift is from above, coming down from the Father of the heavenly lights, with whom there is no change or shifting shadow. ¹⁸ He chose to give us birth through the word of truth, that we would be a kind of firstfruits of His creation.

¹⁹ Those I love, I rebuke and discipline. Therefore be earnest and repent.

⁴¹ I also will walk contrary to them and will bring them into the land of their enemies. If then their uncircumcised hearts are humbled, and they then pay for their iniquity, ⁴² then I will remember my covenant with Jacob, my covenant with Isaac, and also my covenant with Abraham; and I will remember the land.

² »If you and your children return to the LORD your God and obey him with all your heart and with all your being, doing everything I command you today,

⁶ The LORD your God will circumcise your heart, and the heart of your descendants, to love the LORD your God with all your heart, and with all your soul, that you may live. ⁷ the LORD your God will put all these curses on your enemies and on those who hate you and persecuted you. ⁸ "You shall again obey the LORD, and observe all his commandments that I command you today.

⁶ and said, "My God, I am ashamed and embarrassed to lift my face to you, my God. For our sins have risen above our heads and our guilt has grown up to the heavens.

²⁶ »You write down bitter things against me and make me inherit the sins of my youth.

¹¹ "The youthful vigor that fills his bones will lie with him in the dust.

⁷ Remember not the sins of my youth, nor my transgressions: according to your mercy remember me for your goodness' sake, O LORD.

⁴ "Do not be afraid. You will not suffer shame. Do not fear disgrace. You will not be humiliated. You will forget the shame of your youth and remember no more the reproach of your widowhood."

²¹ I spoke to you when you were secure, but you said, "I won't listen!" This has been your way since your youth, for you haven't obeyed me.

³⁰ Indeed, the Israelites and Judeans have been doing only evil in my presence since their youth. Indeed, the Israelites have done nothing but provoke me by what they have made with their hands," declares the LORD.

⁹ "Then those who escape will remember me among the nations where they are taken captive. I was hurt by their adulterous hearts, which turned away from me, and by their eyes, which lusted after idols. They will hate themselves for the evil and disgusting things that they have done.

⁶¹ Then you will remember your ways and be ashamed, when you receive your sisters, your elder sisters and your younger; and I will give them to you for daughters, but not by your covenant. ⁶² And I will establish my covenant with you and you will know that I am the LORD, ⁶³ '"I will forgive all the wrongs you have done, but you will remember them and be too ashamed to open your mouth.' The Sovereign LORD has spoken."

⁴³ And there you will remember your ways and all your practices, by which you have polluted yourselves. And you will loathe yourselves in your own sight for all your evils that you have committed. ⁴⁴ You will know that I am the LORD, when I have dealt with you for my name's sake, not according to your evil ways, nor according to your corrupt doings, you house of Israel,” says the Sovereign LORD.'”

¹² Cry and wail, son of man, for it is against my people; it is against all of the princes of Israel. They are thrown to the sword with my people; therefore strike your thigh.

³ "They played the prostitute in Egypt. They played the prostitute in their youth. There their breasts were pressed and there their virgin bosom was handled.

²⁶ I will give you a new heart and put a new spirit in you: I will take away the stony heart out of your flesh, and give you a heart of flesh:

³¹ "'Then you will remember your evil ways and the bad things that you did. You will hate yourselves for all these wicked and disgusting things.

¹⁷ "Then he came to his senses and said, 'How many of my father's hired men have more food than they can eat, and here I am starving to death! ¹⁸ I will get up and go back to my father and say to him, “Father, I have sinned against heaven and against you. ¹⁹ I am no longer worthy to be called your son; make me like one of your hired servants."'

³⁰ But when this son of yours returns from squandering your wealth with prostitutes, you kill the fatted calf for him!’

¹³ But the tax-collector stood at a distance and would not even lift his eyes to heaven, but continued to beat his breast, and say, 'O God, have mercy on me, a sinner!'

²¹ What fruit did you reap at that time from the things you are now ashamed of? The outcome of those things is death.

³ We all lived among them at one time in the cravings of our flesh, indulging its desires and thoughts. Like the rest, we were by nature children of wrath.

²⁵ He must gently reprove those who oppose him, in the hope that God may grant them repentance leading to a knowledge of the truth.

³ For at one time we too were foolish, disobedient, misled, enslaved to all sorts of desires and pleasures, living in malice and envy, hateful, and hating one another. ⁴ But when the kindness and love of God our Savior appeared, ⁵ he saved us, not by deeds of righteousness that we have done, but because of his mercy, through the washing of regeneration and renewal by the Holy Spirit, ⁶ whom he poured out on us richly, through Jesus Christ our Savior; ⁷ so that having been justified by His grace we might become heirs according to the hope of eternal life.

³⁰ Joseph hurried, for his heart yearned over his brother; and he sought a place to weep. He entered into his room, and wept there.

³⁶ For the LORD shall judge his people, and have compassion on his servants, when he sees that their power is gone, and there is none left, slave or free.

¹⁶ When they put away their foreign gods and served the LORD, he brought Israel's misery to an end.

²⁶ But the woman, whose child was alive, said to the king; (for her bowels were moved upon her child) I beseech thee, my lord, give her the child alive, and do not kill it. But the other said: Let it be neither mine nor thine; but divide it.

¹³ Like a father has compassion on his children, so the LORD has compassion on those who fear him.

¹² because the LORD corrects the person he loves, just as a father corrects the son he delights in.

⁴ My beloved thrust his hand in through the latch opening. My heart pounded for him.

¹¹ That is why my heart mourns for Moab like a harp. I mourn for Kir Hareseth.

⁷ Let the wicked forsake his way and the evil man his thoughts. Let him turn to the LORD, and he will have mercy on him, and to our God, for he will freely pardon.

¹⁵ Look from heaven, and see from the lofty residence of your holiness and glory. Where are your zeal and strength? Your compassion and mercy to me hold themselves back.

³⁶ So my heart roars for Moab as pipes; and my heart roars as pipes for the men of Qir Hareseth: because the riches he worked are destroyed.

³¹ For LORD will not cast off forever. ³² though he causes grief, his compassion abounds according to his gracious love.

⁴ "I will heal their waywardness. I will love them freely; for my anger is turned away from him.

¹⁸ Who is a God like You, who pardons iniquity and passes by the transgression of the remnant of His heritage? He does not keep His anger forever, because He delights in mercy. ¹⁹ You will again have compassion on us. You will tread our iniquities under foot. You will throw all our sins into the depths of the sea.

²⁴ For this son of mine was dead and is alive again! He was lost and is found!’ So they began to celebrate.

³² But it was fitting to celebrate and rejoice, because this brother of yours was dead and is alive again; he was lost and is found.’”

⁸ God is my witness how I long for all of you with the affection of Christ Jesus.

⁴⁶ he said to them, Set your heart to all the words which I testify to you this day, which you must command your children to observe to do, all the words of this law.

³ And moreover, in my affection for the house of my God I have given of my own property of gold and silver, for the house of my God, over and above all that I have prepared for the house of the sanctuary:

¹⁶ People from every tribe of Israel who were determined to seek the LORD the true God of Israel followed the Levitical priests to Jerusalem to sacrifice to the LORD God of their ancestors.

³ And Jehoshaphat feared, and set his face to seek to the LORD, and proclaimed a fast over all Judah.

¹⁰ Do not trust in oppression. Do not become vain in robbery. If riches increase, do not set your heart on them.

⁵ Blessed are those whose strength is in you, who have set their hearts on a pilgrimage.

³² Then I myself set my heart on what I was perceiving; I took admonition from what I saw:

¹¹ Get out of her my people! Touch no unclean thing! Come out from it and be pure, you who carry the vessels of the LORD. ¹² You will not leave in haste or go in panic. For the LORD will go before you. The God of Israel will be your rear guard.

¹⁰ Go through, go through the gates! Prepare the way of the people! Build up, build up the highway! Gather out the stones! Lift up a banner for the peoples.

¹⁴ "Return, unfaithful people," declares the LORD, "for I am your husband. I'll take you, one from a city and two from a family, and I'll bring you to Zion.

⁵ They will ask the way to Zion, turning their faces there. They will come and join themselves to the LORD by an everlasting covenant that will not be forgotten.

⁶ Flee from Babylon, and each of you, escape with your life! Don't be destroyed because of her guilt, for it's time for the LORD's vengeance. He is paying back what is due to her.

⁵⁰ You people escaped from the sword. Now leave! Do not just stand there. Remember the LORD in a distant land and think about Jerusalem.

⁴ And the man said to me, Son of man, look with your eyes, and hear with your ears, and set your heart on all that I shall show you. For in order to show you, you are brought here. Declare to the house of Israel all that you see.

⁵ For this cause the Lord of armies has said, Give thought to your ways.

⁶ "Woe! Woe! Flee from the land of the north," declares the LORD, "for I have scattered you like the four winds of the heavens," declares the LORD. ⁷ Ho, O Zion! Escape, you who live with the daughter of Babylon.

⁹ Though I sow them among the nations, in the distant places they will remember me, and they will stay alive with their children, and they will return.

¹⁵ And I will put enmity between you and the woman and between your seed and her seed. He will bruise your head and you will bruise his heel.

³⁰ "But if the LORD does something totally new, if the ground opens up, swallows them and everything that belongs to them, and they go down alive to their graves; then you will know that these men have treated the LORD with contempt."

¹⁴ Therefore the LORD will give you a sign: The virgin will be with child and will give birth to a son, and will call him Immanuel (God with us).

¹⁸ Now what do you gain by going to Egypt, to drink the waters of the Shihor? Or why do you to go on the way to Assyria, to drink the waters of the River?

²³ How can you say, I am not defiled; I have not gone after the Baals? See your way in the valley, know what you have done! You are a swift camel crossing its ways;

³⁶ Why do you go about so much, ever changing your way? You will be shamed by Egypt, just as you were shamed by Assyria.

⁶ In the time of King Josiah the LORD said to me, "Have you seen what unfaithful Israel did? She went up on every high hill and under every green tree, and she committed fornication there.

⁸ I saw that even though I had sent unfaithful Israel away for all her adulteries and had given her a divorce decree, her treacherous sister Judah didn't fear, and she, too, committed adultery.

¹¹ And the LORD said unto me, "The shrinking Israel is more righteous than the unfaithful Judah: ¹² Go, proclaim these words to the north, and say, 'Return, unfaithful Israel,' declares the LORD. 'I won't look on you in anger, for I am gracious,' declares the LORD. 'I won't remain angry forever.

²² Return, O apostate children, I will heal your backsliding. 'Look, we come to you, for you are the LORD our God.

¹⁴ "O Jerusalem, wash the evil from your heart so that you may be saved. How long will your wicked thoughts lodge within you?

²⁴ But they did not listen, nor bow their ear, but walked in their own plans, in the stubbornness of their evil heart, and went backward and not forward.

⁴ "Say to them: 'This is what the LORD says: "When someone falls, he gets back up. When someone turns away from me, he returns."'" ⁵ Why has this people turned away? Why does Jerusalem continue in apostasy? They hold on to deceit and refuse to repent. ⁶ I listened and heard, but they didn’t say what is right. No one repents of his wickedness, saying, “What have I done?” Everyone turns to his course, as a horse that rushes headlong in the battle.

²⁷ I see your adulteries and your neighings - the intrigue of your whoredom and your abominations on the hills in the fields! Woe to you, O Yeru Shalem! Purify you not yourselves? Until when?

⁷ Although our iniquities testify against us, O LORD, act for the sake of your name. Yes, our apostasies are many; we have sinned against you.

⁴ Why do you boast in your valleys? Your valleys are ebbing. O unfaithful daughter, who trusted in her treasures, who said, 'Who will come against me?'

⁵ Your calf is rejected, O Samaria; my anger burns against them. How long will they be incapable of innocence?

⁷ "My people are determined to turn (apostatize) from me. Even if they call to the Most High, he will by no means exalt them.

¹¹ But they refused to pay attention, turned their backs, and stopped listening.

²¹ She will give birth to a son, and you shall give Him the name Jesus, because He will save His people from their sins.”

³⁴ “How can this be,” Mary asked the angel, “since I am a virgin?” ³⁵ The angel replied, “The Holy Spirit will come upon you, and the power of the Most High will overshadow you. So the Holy One to be born will be called the Son of God.

⁴ But when the time had fully come, God sent His Son, born of a woman, born under the Law,

¹ Great is the LORD, and highly to be praised, in the city of our God, in his holy mountain 2 Beautiful in elevation, the joy of the whole earth, is Mount Zion, on the north sides, the city of the great King.

¹ Of the sons of Korah. A psalm. A song. His foundation is on the holy mountains. ² the LORD loves the gates of Zion more than all the dwellings of Jacob. ³ Glorious things are spoken of you, O city of God. Selah.

⁵ for there the thrones of judgment settle - the thrones of the house of David. ⁶ Pray for the peace of Jerusalem: "May those who love you be at ease. ⁷ May peace be within your walls, security within your palaces." ⁸ For the sake of my brothers and my friends, I will say, "Peace be within you."

⁵ May the LORD bless you from Zion so that you may see Jerusalem prosper all the days of your life.

⁸ Nor do those who pass by say: "The blessing of the LORD be upon you! We bless you in the name of the LORD."

³ May the LORD who fashions heaven and earth bless you from Zion.

²¹ How the faithful city has become a harlot! She who was full of justice! Righteousness lodged in her, but now murderers.

²⁶ And I will restore your judges as at first, and your counselors as at the beginning; afterwards you shall be called the city of righteousness, the faithful city.

²¹ "Then all your people will be righteous and they will possess the land everlastingly. They will be the seedlings I have planted, the honored work of my hands.

⁵ "The days are coming," declares the LORD, "when I will raise up for David a righteous Branch. He will reign as king and act wisely and do justice and righteousness in the land. ⁶ In his days Judah will be saved, and Israel will dwell safely. This is his name by which he will be called: the LORD our righteousness. ⁷ "Therefore, the time is coming," declares the LORD, "when people will no longer say, 'As surely as the LORD lives who brought up the Israelites from the land of Egypt,' ⁸ but they'll say, 'As surely as the LORD lives who brought the descendants of the Israelites from the land of the north and from all the lands where I had driven them and brought them into the land.' Then they'll live in their own land."

¹⁵ In those days and at that time I'll cause a righteous Branch to spring up for David, and he will uphold justice and righteousness in the land. ¹⁶ In those days Judah will be saved, and Jerusalem will dwell safely. This is the name by which she will be called: the LORD our righteousness.” ¹⁷ For this is what the LORD says: 'David will never be without a man sitting on the throne of the house of Israel, ¹⁸ nor shall the priests the Levites lack a man before Me to offer burnt offerings, and to kindle grain offerings, and to do sacrifice forever. ¹⁹ The word of the LORD came to Jeremiah: ²⁰ "Thus says the LORD: 'If you could break my covenant with the day, and my covenant with the night, so that day and night would not come at their time, ²¹ Also my covenant with David my servant may be made void, that he should not have a son to reign upon his throne, and with the Levites and priests my ministers. ²² "'I will increase the descendants of my servant David and the Levites who serve me in the same way as the stars of heaven that cannot be counted and the sand on the seashore that cannot be measured.'" ²³ The word of the LORD came to Jeremiah:

⁷ All those who found them have devoured them. And their foes have said, 'We are not guilty, because they have sinned against the LORD, the true pasture, even the LORD, the hope of their ancestors.'

¹⁷ But upon mount Zion shall be deliverance, and it shall be holy: and the house of Jacob shall again possess their inheritances.

¹ But in the latter days, it will happen that the mountain of the LORD's temple will be established on the top of the mountains, and it will be exalted above the hills; and peoples will stream to it.

³ "This is what the LORD says: 'I will return to Zion and I will live in the midst of Jerusalem. And Jerusalem will be called "The City of Truth" and the mountain of the LORD of the Heavenly Armies will be called "The Holy Mountain".'

¹¹ "Yes, you will hear the sounds of joy and happiness and the sounds of brides and grooms. You will hear those who bring thank offerings to the LORD's Temple."' "'They will say: Give thanks to the LORD Almighty because the LORD is good, because his mercy endures forever. I will restore the prosperity of the land to what they were before,"' says the LORD. ¹² "This is what the LORD of the Heavenly Armies says: 'In this place that is now a ruin without people or animals, and in all its towns there will again be pasture for shepherds resting their flocks. ¹³ In the towns of the hill country, in the towns of the Shephelah, in the towns of the Negev, in the territory of Benjamin, in the areas around Jerusalem, and in the towns of Judah flocks will again pass under the hands of the one who counts them,' says the LORD."

¹⁰ and I will multiply men upon you, all the house of Israel, even all of it: and the cities shall be inhabited, and the ruins shall be built.

⁴ and said to him, "Run, speak to this young man, saying, 'Jerusalem will be inhabited as villages without walls, because of the multitude of men and livestock in it.

⁴ Thus says the LORD of hosts: 'Old men and old women shall again sit in the public squares of Jerusalem, each with staff in hand because of great age. ⁵ and the streets of the city shall be filled with boys and girls playing in her streets. ⁶ Thus says the LORD of hosts: 'Even if it seems impossible to the remnant of this people in those days, should it also seem impossible to me?' declares the LORD of hosts. ⁷ Thus said the LORD Almighty: "Behold! I will save my people from the land of the east and from the land of the west. ⁸ "I will bring them and they will live in Jerusalem. They will be my people, and I will be their God, in truth and in righteousness!"

² And a man shall be as a hiding-place from the wind, and a covert from the storm; as brooks of water in a dry place, as the shadow of a great rock in a thirsty land.

⁴ The Sovereign LORD has given Me the tongue of the learned, to know to help the weary with a word. He wakens morning by morning, He wakens the ear to hear as the learned.

¹⁴ "I will satisfy the priests with rich food. My people will be filled with my blessings," proclaims the LORD.

⁵³ He has filled the hungry with good things, but has sent the rich away empty.

¹⁴ But whoever drinks the water I give him will never thirst. Indeed, the water I give him will become in him a fount of water springing up to eternal life.”

⁶ But God, who comforts the downcast, comforted us by the coming of Titus,

² It is vain for you to rise up early, to stay up late, eating the bread of toil, for he gives sleep to his loved ones.

¹ Then the angel who talked with me turned and roused me, as when a man is roused from his sleep, ² He asked: "What do you see?" I answered: "I see a gold lamp stand, with a bowl on top and seven lamps. There are seven pipes to each of the lamps, which are on the top.

¹⁹ And from them will go out praise and the sound of laughing: and I will make them great in number, and they will not become less; and I will give them glory, and they will not be small.

⁹ For, behold, I am for you, and I will come to you, and you will be tilled and sown.

¹¹ "'I will increase the number of people and animals that live on you. They will grow and become many. I will let people live on you as in the past, and I will make you better off than ever before. Then you will know that I am the LORD.

²³ I will plant my people in the land for myself. I will show mercy on her who has received no mercy I will say to those who are not my people, 'You are my people!' and they will say, 'You are my God.'"

¹⁶ For the Lord will rebuild Sion and appear in his glory.

² the LORD builds up Jerusalem; He gathers the outcasts of Israel.

² a time to be born, and a time to die; a time to plant, and a time to uproot what was planted; ³ a time to kill, and a time to heal; a time to tear down, and a time to build up;

⁷ At one moment I may speak about a nation or a kingdom to uproot it, pull it down, or destroy it. ⁸ But if that nation about which I spoke turns from its evil way, I'll change my mind about the disaster that I had planned for it. ⁹ At another moment I may speak about a nation or kingdom to build it or plant it.

⁶ »‘I will watch over them for their good, and I will bring them to this land again. I will build them up and not overthrow them. I will plant them and not uproot them.

⁴¹ I'll rejoice over them to do good for them, and I'll faithfully plant them in this land with all my heart and soul.

²⁷ For I have watched over them, to hurt them, and not to do them good. And all the Jews dwelling in the land of Egypt shall perish by sword and by famine, until they are utterly consumed.

⁴ "Say this to Baruch: 'This is what the LORD says: "I will tear down what I have built. I will uproot what I have planted throughout the earth.

¹⁴ So the LORD watched for the right time to bring the calamity upon us, because the LORD our God is righteous regarding everything he does, but we have not obeyed his voice.

²⁵ “Know therefore and discern that from the going out of the commandment to restore and to build Jerusalem to the Anointed One, the prince, will be seven weeks and sixty-two weeks. It will be built again, with street and moat, even in troubled times.

³⁰ But every one shall die for his own sin. And whoever eateth the sour grape, his teeth shall be set on edge.

² "What do you mean by using this proverb concerning the land of Israel: 'The fathers eat sour grapes, but the children's teeth are set on edge?' ³ '"As I live, declares the Sovereign LORD: 'You are surely not going to use this proverb in Israel anymore.

¹⁶ The fathers shall not be put to death for the children, nor the children for the fathers, but every one shall die for his own sin,

¹¹ Woe to the wicked. Disaster is upon them; for the work of his hands will be done to him.

¹⁸ "When I tell a wicked man that he will surely die, but you do not warn him or speak out so that he can change his wicked way in order to save his life; that wicked man will die because of his sin. I will hold you responsible for his death. ¹⁹ Yet if you warn the wicked man and he does not turn from his wickedness, nor from his wicked way, he will die in his iniquity, but you have delivered your soul.

²⁴ Then the Spirit entered into me, and set me on my feet. He spoke with me, and said to me, “Go, shut yourself inside your house.

⁴ Behold, all souls are mine; as the soul of the father, so also the soul of the son is mine. The soul who sins, he shall die.

²⁰ The soul that sins, it will die. The son will not bear the iniquity of the father, nor will the father bear the iniquity of the son. The righteousness of a righteous man will be upon him and the wickedness of a wicked man will be upon him.

⁸ When I say to the wicked man, O wicked man, you will surely die and you do not speak to warn the wicked man from his way, that wicked man will die in his iniquity, but I will require his blood at your hand.

¹³ When I tell the righteous that he will surely live; if he trusts in his righteousness, and commits iniquity, none of his righteous deeds will be remembered; but he will die in his iniquity that he has committed.

¹⁸ When the righteous man turns from his righteousness, and commits iniquity, he shall even die in it.

⁵ For each one should carry his own load.

⁷ Do not be deceived. God is not mocked! A man will harvest what he sows. ⁸ The one who sows to please his flesh, from the flesh will reap destruction; but the one who sows to please the Spirit, from the Spirit will reap eternal life.

¹⁵ Then when passion has conceived it gives birth to sin, and sin, when it is full grown, gives birth to death.

⁵ "The days are coming," declares the LORD, "when I will raise up for David a righteous Branch. He will reign as king and act wisely and do justice and righteousness in the land.

²⁷ "Look, the days are coming," declares the LORD, "and I will sow the house of Israel and the house of Judah with the seed of humankind, and with the seed of animals.

³¹ "The time is coming," proclaims the LORD, "when I will make a new covenant with the house of Israel and with the house of Judah. ³² It won't be like the covenant I made with their ancestors on the day I took them by the hand to bring them out of the land of Egypt. They broke my covenant, although I was a husband to them," declares the LORD. ³³ "But this is the covenant that I will make with the house of Israel after those days," says the LORD: "I will put my law in their minds, and write it on their hearts; and I will be their God, and they shall be my people: ³⁴ And they will teach no more every man his neighbor and every man his brother, saying, Know the LORD, for they will all know me, from the least of them to the greatest of them, says the LORD. For I will forgive their iniquity and I will remember their sin no more.

⁴⁰ "I will make an eternal promise to them that I will never stop blessing them. I will make them respect me so that they will never turn away from me.

¹⁴ 'Look, days are coming,' declares the LORD, 'and I will fulfill the good promise that I promised to the house of Israel and to the house of Judah. ¹⁵ In those days and at that time I'll cause a righteous Branch to spring up for David, and he will uphold justice and righteousness in the land. ¹⁶ In those days Judah will be saved, and Jerusalem will dwell safely. This is the name by which she will be called: the LORD our righteousness.”

²⁶ Moreover I will make a covenant of peace with them. It will be an everlasting covenant with them. I will place them, multiply them, and will set my sanctuary among them forever more.

¹³ "Look! The days are coming," declares the LORD, "when the one who sows will overtake the harvester and the treader of grapes will overtake the planter. Fresh wine will drip down from the mountains, cascading down from the hills.

²⁸ This is My blood of the covenant, which is poured out for many for the forgiveness of sins.

²⁴ He said to them, “This is My blood of the covenant, which is poured out for many.

²⁰ In the same way, after supper He took the cup, saying, “This cup is the new covenant in My blood, which is poured out for you.

²⁵ In the same way, after supper He took the cup, saying, “This cup is the new covenant in My blood; do this, as often as you drink it, in remembrance of Me.”

⁶ who has made us competent as ministers of a new covenant, not of the letter but of the Spirit; for the letter kills, but the Spirit gives life.

¹⁶ Peace and mercy to all who walk by this rule, even to the Israel of God.

³ For it is we who are the circumcision, we who worship by the Spirit of God, who glory in Christ Jesus, and who put no confidence in the flesh—

⁶ Now, however, Jesus has received a far superior ministry, just as the covenant He mediates is superior and is founded on better promises. ⁷ Now if there had been nothing wrong with that first covenant, no place would have been sought for a second one; ⁸ But when God found fault with the people, He said: “Behold, the days are coming, says the Lord, when I will make a new covenant with the house of Israel and with the house of Judah. ⁹ It will not be like the covenant I made with their fathers when I took them by the hand to lead them out of the land of Egypt, because they did not abide by My covenant, and I disregarded them, says the Lord. ¹⁰ For this is the covenant that I will make with the house of Israel after that time, declares the Lord: I will put my laws in their minds and write them on their hearts. I will be their God, and they will be my people. ¹¹ No longer will each one teach his neighbor or his brother, saying, ‘Know the Lord,’ because they will all know Me, from the least of them to the greatest. ¹² "'I will forgive their wickedness and I will remember their sins no more.'" ¹³ In speaking of a "new" covenant, he has made the first one obsolete, and what is obsolete and aging will soon disappear.

¹⁵ For this reason he is the mediator of a new covenant, that those who are called may receive the promised eternal inheritance, now that he has died as a ransom to set them free from the transgressions committed under the first covenant.

¹⁶ “This is the covenant I will make with them after those days, says the Lord. I will put My Laws in their hearts and inscribe them on their minds.” ¹⁷ Then he adds: “Their sins and lawless acts I will remember no more.”

²⁴ to Jesus the mediator of a new covenant, and to the sprinkled blood that speaks a better word than the blood of Abel.

²⁰ Now may the God of peace—who through the blood of the eternal covenant brought back from the dead our Lord Jesus, that great Shepherd of the sheep—

⁵ ‘If you will obey me and are faithful to the terms of my covenant, then out of all the nations you will be my own special possession, for all the earth is mine.

⁶ And Moses took half of the blood and put it in basins, and the other half he sprinkled on the altar. ⁷ He took the Book of the Covenant and read it to the people. They said, "All that the LORD has spoken we will do and obey." ⁸ And Moses took the blood and sprinkled it on the people, and he said, "Look, the blood of the covenant that the LORD has made with you in accordance with all these words."

¹⁵ and if you reject my statutes and if your inner self abhors my regulations, to not carry out all my commands by your breaking my covenant,

³¹ and in the wilderness where you saw how the LORD your Elohim carried you, just as a man carries his son, in all the way you went until you came to this place.

³ It was not with our ancestors that the LORD made this covenant, but with these of us who are here alive today.

¹ These are the terms of the covenant, which the LORD commanded Moses to make with the Israelites in the land of Moab in addition to the covenant that he made with them in Horeb.

²¹ The LORD will set him apart from all the tribes of Israel for destruction, according to the curses of the covenant that were written in this book of the Law."

¹⁶ And the Lord said to Moses, Now you are going to rest with your fathers; and this people will be false to me, uniting themselves to the strange gods of the land where they are going; they will be turned away from me and will not keep the agreement I have made with them.

⁹ There was not anything in the ark except the two tablets of stone which Moses had placed there at Horeb, where the LORD made a covenant with the Israelites after they went out from the land of Egypt.

²³ But I am always with You; You have held me by my right hand.

⁵ Who is this coming up from the wilderness, leaning upon her beloved? Under the apple tree I awakened you; there your mother conceived you; there she who was in labor gave birth to you.

⁵ The earth also is polluted under its inhabitants, because they have transgressed the laws, violated the statutes, and broken the everlasting covenant.

¹³ "I AM the LORD, YOUR GOD! I take hold of your right hand and say to you: Do not fear; I will help you.

⁵ "For your Maker is your husband. the LORD Almighty is his name! The Holy One of Israel is your Redeemer. He is called the God of all the earth.

⁷ For I solemnly warned your fathers in the day I brought them up out of the land of Egypt, to this day rising early and warning, saying, Obey My voice. ⁸ Yet they did not obey, nor turn their ear, but walked everyone in the stubbornness of their evil heart: therefore I brought on them all the words of this covenant, which I commanded them to do, but they did not do them.'" ⁹ And the Lord said to me, There is an evil design at work among the men of Judah and the people of Jerusalem. ¹⁰ They have turned back to the iniquities of their forefathers, who refused to hear my words. They have gone after other gods to serve them. The house of Israel and the house of Judah have broken my covenant which I made with their fathers.

⁹ Then shall it be answered: Because they have broken the covenant of the LORD their God, and have worshipped and served strange gods.'"

¹ "At that time," declares the LORD, "I will be the God of all the clans of Israel, and they will be to me a people."

¹⁴ "Every seven years each of you must free any Hebrews who sold themselves to you. When they have served you for six years, you must set them free. But your ancestors refused to obey me or listen to me.

⁸ And I passed by you, and I looked on you, and, behold, your time was the time of love. And I spread My skirt over you and covered your nakedness. And I swore to you and entered into a covenant with you, declares the Sovereign LORD. And you became Mine.

⁵⁹ For so says the Sovereign LORD: I will even deal with you as you have done, who have despised the oath in breaking the covenant. ⁶⁰ But I will remember My covenant with you in the days of your youth, and I will establish to you an everlasting covenant. ⁶¹ Then you will remember your ways and be ashamed, when you receive your sisters, your elder sisters and your younger; and I will give them to you for daughters, but not by your covenant. ⁶² And I will establish my covenant with you and you will know that I am the LORD,

³⁷ "I will cause you to pass under the rod, and I will bring you into the bond of the covenant;

⁴ Their names were Oholah, the older, and Oholibah, her sister: and they became mine, and gave birth to sons and daughters. As for their names, Samaria is Oholah, and Jerusalem, Oholibah.

² Judge your mother, judge her: because she is not my wife, and I am not her husband. Let her put away her fornications from her face, and her adulteries from between her breasts.

¹ The LORD said to me, "Go again, love a woman who loves another, and is an adulteress, even as the LORD loves the children of Israel, though they turn to other gods, and love cakes of raisins."

³ "It was I who taught Ephraim to walk. I took them in my arms; but they did not realize it was I who healed them. ⁴ "I led them with cords of human kindness, with ties of love. I lifted the yoke from their neck and bent down to feed them.

²³ So he took the blind man by the hand and led him out of the village. And when he had spit on his eyes and put his hands on him, he asked him "Do you see anything?"

²⁹ The bride belongs to the bridegroom. The friend of the bridegroom stands and listens for him, and is overjoyed to hear the bridegroom’s voice. That joy is mine, and it is now complete.

² I am jealous for you with a godly jealousy; for I betrothed you to one husband, so that to Christ I might present you as a pure virgin.

⁹ It will not be like the covenant I made with their fathers when I took them by the hand to lead them out of the land of Egypt, because they did not abide by My covenant, and I disregarded them, says the Lord.

¹⁸ This is why even the first covenant was not put into effect without blood. ¹⁹ For when Moses had proclaimed every commandment of the Law to all the people, he took the blood of calves and goats, along with water, scarlet wool, and hyssop, and sprinkled the scroll and all the people, ²⁰ Saying, This is the blood of the covenant which God has commanded you to keep. ²¹ In the same way, he sprinkled with the blood both the tabernacle and everything used in worship. ²² In fact, under the law almost everything is cleansed with blood, and without the shedding of the blood there is no forgiveness.

⁶ The LORD your God will circumcise your heart, and the heart of your descendants, to love the LORD your God with all your heart, and with all your soul, that you may live.

³¹ The law of his God is in his heart; his steps do not slide.

⁸ I delight to do your will, O my God: yes, your law is within my heart.

⁷ "Hear me, you who know what is right, you people who have my law in your hearts. Do not fear the reproach of men or be terrified by their insults.

⁷ I will give them a heart to know me, that I am the LORD. They will be my people, and I will be their God; for they will return to me with their whole heart.

¹⁹ and I will give them another heart and put a new spirit in them; and I will take away the stony heart out of their flesh and give them a heart of flesh ²⁰ that they may walk in my statutes, and keep my ordinances, and do them. They will be my people, and I will be their God.

²⁵ I will sprinkle clean water on you, and you will be clean. I will cleanse you from all your filthiness, and from all your idols. ²⁶ I will give you a new heart and put a new spirit in you: I will take away the stony heart out of your flesh, and give you a heart of flesh: ²⁷ »I will put my Spirit in you. I will enable you to live by my Laws, and you will obey my rules.

²⁷ "'"My dwelling place will be with them. I will be their God, and they will be my people.

²² For in my inner being I delight in God’s Law.

² For in Christ Jesus the law of the Spirit of life has set you free from the law of sin and death. ³ For what the Law was powerless to do in that it was weakened by the flesh, God did by sending His own Son in the likeness of sinful man, as an offering for sin. He thus condemned sin in the flesh, ⁴ in order that the righteous requirement of the law might be fulfilled in us, who do not walk according to the flesh but according to the Spirit. ⁵ Those who live according to the flesh set their minds on the things of the flesh; but those who live according to the Spirit set their minds on the things of the Spirit. ⁶ The mind of the flesh is death, but the mind of the Spirit is life and peace, ⁷ because the mind of the flesh is hostile to God: It does not submit to God’s Law, nor can it do so. ⁸ Those controlled by the flesh cannot please God.

³ It is clear that you are a letter from Christ, the result of our ministry, written not with ink but with the Spirit of the living God, not on tablets of stone but on tablets of human hearts.

⁷ Now if the ministry that brought death, which was engraved in letters on stone, came with glory, so that the Israelites could not look steadily at the face of Moses because of its glory, fading though it was, ⁸ will not the ministry of the Spirit be even more glorious?

²² But the fruit of the Spirit is love, joy, peace, patience, kindness, goodness, faithfulness, ²³ gentleness, and self-control. Against such things there is no law.

¹⁰ For this is the covenant that I will make with the house of Israel after that time, declares the Lord: I will put my laws in their minds and write them on their hearts. I will be their God, and they will be my people.

¹⁶ “This is the covenant I will make with them after those days, says the Lord. I will put My Laws in their hearts and inscribe them on their minds.”

³ And I heard a loud voice from the throne saying: “Behold, the dwelling place of God is with man, and He will live with them. They will be His people, and God Himself will be with them as their God.

⁷ He who overcomes will inherit all this, and I will be his God and he will be my son.

¹² Now the sons of Eli were wicked men. They didn't know the LORD.

⁹ "And you, Solomon my son, know the God of your father and serve him with a whole heart and a willing mind, for the LORD searches all hearts and understands every plan and all thoughts. If you seek him, he will be found by you, but if you abandon him, he will reject you forever.

⁹ They will not hurt nor destroy in all my holy mountain; for the earth will be full of the knowledge of the LORD, as the waters cover the sea.

²⁶ the moon shall shine as the sun, and the sunshine shall be seven fold, and have as much shine, as in seven days beside. In that day shall the LORD bind up the bruised sores of his people, and heal their wounds.

²⁴ No one living in Zion will say: "I am sick." The sins of those who dwell there will be forgiven.

²⁵ I, even I, am he who blots out your transgressions for my own sake; and I will not remember your sins.

²² I have wiped your transgressions out like a cloud and your sins like mist. Return to me, for I have redeemed you!"

¹³ And all your sons will be taught of the LORD and great will be the peace of your sons.

¹⁹ The sun will be no more your light by day; nor will the brightness of the moon give light to you, but the LORD will be your everlasting light, and your God will be your glory. ²⁰ Your sun will no more go down, nor your moon withdraw; for the LORD will be your everlasting light, and the days of your mourning will be ended. ²¹ "Then all your people will be righteous and they will possess the land everlastingly. They will be the seedlings I have planted, the honored work of my hands.

⁸ I'll cleanse them from all their sin that they have committed against me, and I'll forgive all their sins that they committed against me and by which they rebelled against me.

²⁰ In those days and at that time," declares the LORD, "the guilt of Israel will be sought, but there is none, and the sins of Judah, but they will not be found, for I will forgive those I left behind.

¹⁴ For the earth will be filled with the knowledge of the glory of the LORD, as the waters cover the sea.

²⁷ "All things have been delivered to me by my Father. No one knows the Son except the Father, and no one knows the Father except the Son and those to whom the Son chooses to reveal him.

⁴⁵ It is written in the Prophets: ‘And they will all be taught by God.’ Everyone who has heard the Father and learned from Him comes to Me—

³ Now this is eternal life, that they may know You, the only true God, and Jesus Christ, whom You have sent.

⁶ I have revealed Your name to those You have given Me out of the world. They were Yours; You gave them to Me, and they have kept Your word.

⁴³ All the prophets testify about Him that everyone who believes in Him receives forgiveness of sins through His name.”

³⁸ Therefore let it be known to you, brothers, that through Jesus the forgiveness of sins is proclaimed to you. ³⁹ Through Him everyone who believes is justified from everything you could not be justified from by the Law of Moses.

²⁶ And so all Israel will be saved, as it is written: “The Deliverer will come from Zion, He will remove godlessness from Jacob. ²⁷ And this is my covenant with them when I take away their sins."

¹⁰ If you forgive anyone, I also forgive him. And if I have forgiven anything, I have forgiven it in the presence of Christ for your sake,

⁶ For God, who said, “Let light shine out of darkness,” made His light shine in our hearts to give us the light of the knowledge of the glory of God in the face of Jesus Christ.

⁷ In him we have redemption through his blood, the forgiveness of sins, according to the riches of his grace;

⁹ Now about brotherly love, you do not need anyone to write to you, because you yourselves have been taught by God to love one another.

¹² Although by this time you ought to be teachers, you need someone to reteach you the basic principles of God’s word. You need milk, not solid food!

¹² "'I will forgive their wickedness and I will remember their sins no more.'"

¹⁷ Then he adds: “Their sins and lawless acts I will remember no more.” ¹⁸ But where there [is] remission of these, [there is] no longer a sacrifice for sin.

²⁰ But you have an anointing from the Holy One, and you all know the truth.

²⁷ And as for you, the anointing which you received from him remains in you, and you do not have need that anyone teach you. But as his anointing teaches you about all things, and is true and is not a lie, and just as it has taught you, you reside in him.

²⁰ And we know that the Son of God has come and has given us understanding, so that we may know Him who is true; and we are in Him who is true—in His Son Jesus Christ. He is the true God and eternal life.

¹⁴ God said, “Let there be lights in the expanse of the sky to divide the day from the night; and let them be for signs to mark seasons, days, and years; ¹⁵ and let them be for lights in the expanse of the sky to give light on the earth;” and it was so. ¹⁶ God made the two great lights: the greater light to rule the day, and the lesser light to rule the night. He also made the stars. ¹⁷ God set them in the expanse of the sky to give light to the earth, ¹⁸ and to rule over the day and over the night, and to separate light from darkness. And God saw that it was good.

²¹ Moses stretched out his hand over the sea. the LORD swept the sea back by a strong east wind all night and turned the sea into dry land. The waters were divided. ²² The Israelites went through the middle of the sea on dry ground. The water stood like a wall on their right and on their left.

¹⁹ and lest having looked up to the sky, and having seen the sun and the moon and the stars, and all the heavenly bodies, you should go astray and worship them, and serve them, which the Lord your God has distributed to all the nations under heaven.

¹² By his power the sea was made quiet; and by his wisdom Rahab was wounded.

¹⁰ when I fixed limits for it and set its doors and bars in place, ¹¹ when I said: 'This far you may come and no farther'; here is where your proud waves halt?

³³ "Do you know the laws of the heavens? Can you set their dominion over the earth?

¹ For the conclusion. A Psalm by David. The heavens declare the glory of God, and the firmament proclaimeth the work of his hands. ² Day after day they pour forth speech, and night after night they display knowledge. ³ There is no speech nor language, where their voice is not heard. ⁴ Their voice has gone out through all the earth, their words to the end of the world. In them he has set a tent for the sun, ⁵ which is as a bridegroom coming out of his room, like a strong man rejoicing to run his course. ⁶ It rises from one end of the heavens. It circles around to the other. Nothing is hidden from its heat.

⁵ and continue, as long as the sun and moon, through all generations.

¹⁷ His name endures forever, his name continues as long as the sun. Men shall be blessed in him, all nations will call him blessed.

¹³ You split open the sea by your strength; You broke the heads of the sea monsters in the waters.

¹⁶ Yours is the day, and yours is the night; you established the moon and the sun.

¹³ He divided the sea, and led them through; He made the waters to stand as in a bottle.

² I indeed declare, Love stands firm forever because You established the skies; Your faithfulness is in them.

³⁶ His offspring will endure forever, and his throne as the sun before me. ³⁷ It will be established forever like the moon, the faithful witness in the sky." Selah.

³ The floods have lifted up, O LORD, the floods have lifted up their voice; the floods lift up their pounding waves. ⁴ Mightier than the rumblings of many waters, mightier than the mighty breakers of the sea, the LORD on high is mighty.

⁹ He rebuked the Red Sea also, and it was dried up; so he led them through the depths, as through a desert.

²⁵ For he spoke and raised up a stormy wind, and it whipped up its waves. ²⁶ They mount up to the heavens, and they go down to the depths: their soul pined away with evils. ²⁷ They reeled and staggered like a drunkard, and they were at their wits' end. ²⁸ Then they cried out to the LORD in their trouble, and he brought them out of their distresses. ²⁹ He maketh the storm a calm, so that the waves of the sea are still.

³ The sea looked and fled; the Jordan turned back; ⁴ The mountains skipped like rams, the hills like lambs. ⁵ What was it, you sea, that you fled? You Jordan, that you turned back?

⁸⁹ LAMED. For ever, O LORD, thy word is settled in the heavens.

⁷ Who made the great lights: for his mercy endureth for ever. ⁸ the sun to rule by day; for His grace endures forever; ⁹ the moon and stars to rule by night; for His grace endures forever:

² for they call themselves citizens of the holy city, and rely on the God of Israel; the LORD of Armies is his name.

¹⁵ "I am the LORD your God, who churns up the sea so that its waves roar. the LORD Almighty is his name.

¹² Who caused his glorious arm to be at Moses' right hand? Who divided the waters before them, to make himself an everlasting name?

²² "Do you not reverence (respect) me?" Asks the LORD. "Do you not tremble [with awe] in my presence? I made the sand a boundary for the sea, a permanent barrier it cannot cross. Although the waves toss continuously, they cannot break through. Although they roar, they cannot cross it.

¹⁶ The Portion of Jacob is not like them; for He is the Maker of all things; and Israel is the rod of His inheritance. the LORD Almighty is His name.

¹⁸ showing loyal love to the thousands, and repaying the guilt of parents into the laps of their children after them. Powerful, great, mighty, his name is the LORD Almighty,

¹⁸ As surely as I live," declares the king, whose name is the LORD of the Heavenly Armies. Indeed, one will come like Tabor among the mountains and like Carmel by the sea.

³⁴ Their Redeemer is strong; the LORD Almighty, is His name. He shall thoroughly plead their cause, so that he may give rest to the land, and give trouble to the people of Babylon.

¹⁹ The portion of Jacob is not like these, for he is the former of all things; including the tribe of his inheritance: the LORD of Armies is his name.

⁴⁵ that you may be sons of your Father in heaven. He causes His sun to rise on the evil and the good, and sends rain on the righteous and the unrighteous.

²⁵ The disciples went and woke him, saying, "Lord, save us! We are perishing!" ²⁶ “You of little faith,” Jesus replied, “why are you so afraid?” Then He got up and rebuked the winds and the sea, and it was perfectly calm.

²⁸ The children of your servants will continue, and their descendants will be established before you."

⁶ And he put them in place forever and ever, by a decree he gave that will not pass away.

⁹ "To me this is like the days of Noah, when I swore that the waters of Noah would never again cover the earth. So now I have sworn not to be angry with you, never to rebuke you again. ¹⁰ "Though the mountains be shaken and the hills be removed, yet my unfailing love for you will not be shaken nor my covenant of peace be removed," says the LORD. "I have compassion on you."

²⁸ "'Do not be afraid, my servant Jacob," declares the LORD. "I am with you. I will completely destroy all the nations where I scattered you, but I will not completely destroy you. I will correct you with justice. I will not let you go entirely unpunished.'"

⁷ "Can you fathom the mysteries of God? Can you probe the limits of the Almighty? ⁸ "They are higher than the heavens. What can you do? They are deeper than the depths of the grave. What can you know? ⁹ "Their measure is longer than the earth and wider than the sea.

⁴ Who has ascended to heaven and come down? Who has gathered the wind in the hollow of his hand? Who has wrapped water in a garment? Who has established all the ends of the earth? What is his name and what is the name of his child? For surely you know.

¹² Who has measured the waters in the hollow of his hand, or with the span of his hand marked off the heavens? Who has held the dust of the earth in a basket, or weighed the mountains on the scales and the hills in a balance of the scale?

¹¹ "I am with you. I will rescue you," declares the LORD. "I will completely destroy all the nations where I scattered you, but I will not completely destroy you. I will correct you with justice. I will not let you go entirely unpunished."

²² "'I will increase the descendants of my servant David and the Levites who serve me in the same way as the stars of heaven that cannot be counted and the sand on the seashore that cannot be measured.'"

¹ I ask then, did God reject His people? Certainly not! I am an Israelite myself, a descendant of Abraham, from the tribe of Benjamin. ² God did not reject His people, whom He foreknew. Do you not know what the Scripture says about Elijah, how he appealed to God against Israel: ³ “LORD, they have killed your prophets and torn down your altars; I am the only one left, and they are trying to take my life!” ⁴ But what was the answer of God to him? I have reserved for myself seven thousand who have not bowed the knee to Baal. ⁵ So too at the present time there is a remnant, chosen by grace.

¹³ Jehoash king of Israel took Amaziah king of Judah, the son of Jehoash the son of Ahaziah, at Beth Shemesh, and came to Jerusalem, and broke down the wall of Jerusalem from the Ephraim Gate to the Corner Gate, four hundred cubits.

⁹ Uzziah also built towers in Jerusalem, at the Corner Gate, at the Valley Gate, and at the Angle and fortified them.

¹⁷ Then I said to them, "You see the misery that we are in, that Jerusalem is ruined and its gates burned by the fire. Come, build the walls of Jerusalem and we shall no longer be a disgrace."

³⁰ And the priests and the Levites purified themselves; and they purified the people, and the gates and the wall. ³¹ Then I brought up the leaders of Judah to the crest of the wall, and appointed two large thanksgiving choirs, the first of which proceeded on the wall to the right toward the Dung Gate. ³² Hoshaiah and half of the rulers of Judah followed after them, ³³ and Azariah, Ezra, Meshullam, ³⁴ Judah, Benjamin, Shemaiah, Jeremiah, ³⁵ Some of the priests' sons were trumpeters, including Zechariah son of Jonathan, the son of Shemaiah, the son of Mattaniah, the son of Micaiah, the son of Zaccur, the son of Asaph, ³⁶ with his associates Shemaiah, Azarel, Milalai, Gilalai, Maai, Nethanel, Judah, and Hanani, accompanied by the musical instruments of David, the man of God. Ezra the scribe led the procession. ³⁷ At the Fountain Gate opposite them they went up the steps of the city of David, at the assent to the wall, over the house of David, and up to the Water Gate to the east. ³⁸ The second thanksgiving choir approached opposite them, and I followed them. Half of the people stood on the crest of the wall from beyond the Tower of the Ovens to the Broad Wall, ³⁹ and from above the Ephraim Gate, above the Fish Gate, the Tower of Hananel and the Tower of the Hundred, as far as the Sheep Gate. They stopped at the Guard Gate. ⁴⁰ So did the two companies for thanksgiving place themselves in the house of God, and I, and the half of the rulers with me.

²⁸ "'I say of Cyrus: 'He is my shepherd and will accomplish all that I please. He will say of Jerusalem, 'Let it be rebuilt,' and of the Temple, 'Let its foundations be laid.'"

³⁰ "These are the exits to the city: On the north side, 4,500 units by measurement, ³¹ "The gates of the city will be named after the tribes of Israel. The three gates on the north side will be Reuben Gate, Judah Gate, and Levi Gate. ³² And at the east side four thousand and five hundred: and three gates; one gate of Joseph, one gate of Benjamin, one gate of Dan. ³³ And the south side five hundred, and four thousand measures, and three gates: the gate of Simeon one, the gate of Issachar one, the gate of Zebulun one. ³⁴ At the west side four thousand and five hundred, with their three gates; one gate of Gad, one gate of Asher, one gate of Naphtali. ³⁵ A perimeter shall measure 18,000 units, and the name of the city from that time on shall be 'THE LORD IS THERE.'"

¹⁰ All the land from Geba to Rimmon south of Jerusalem shall be turned as the Arabah; and [Jerusalem] shall be lifted up, and shall dwell in her own place, from Benjamin`s gate unto the place of the first gate, unto the corner-gate, and from the tower of Hananeel unto the king`s winepresses.

⁸ He also measured the entrance hall of the gateway.

¹ Then I looked up and saw a man with a measuring line in his hand. ² Then I asked: "Where are you going?" He said to me: "To measure Jerusalem, to see the width and the length of it."

²³ And all the land wept aloud as all the people went by. And the king also passed over the Kidron Valley, and all the people passed by on the Olive road into the wilderness.

¹⁶ And they made way for her, and she went by the way by which the horses entered the king`s house, and there was she put to death.

⁶ He brought the Asherah from the LORD's temple to the Kidron Brook outside Jerusalem, burned it at the Kidron brook, pulverized the ashes to dust, and scattered it over the graves of the common people.

¹² The altars which were on the roof of the upper room of Ahaz, which the kings of Judah had made, and the altars which Manasseh had made in the two courtyards of the temple of the LORD, the king tore down and ran from there and threw their ashes into the Wadi Kidron.

¹⁵ So they made way for her; and she went to the entrance of the horse gate to the kings house: and they slew her there.

²⁸ Above the horse gate, the priests made repairs, each one across from his own house.

²² This is what your Sovereign LORD says, your God, who defends his people: "See, I have taken out of your hand the cup that made you stagger. You will never drink from that cup, that cup of wrath, again.

³¹ They have built the high places of Topheth, which is in the Valley of Ben Hinnom, to burn their sons and their daughters in the fire; which I did not command, nor did it come into my mind. ³² Therefore look, days are about to come," declares the LORD, "and it will no longer be called Topheth or the Valley of Ben Hinnom, but the Valley of the Slaughter, and they will bury in Topheth until there is no more place.

² They'll be spread out to the sun, the moon, and all the stars of the heavens, which they loved and served, and which they followed, consulted, and worshiped. Their bones won't be collected, nor will they be buried. They'll be like dung on the surface of the ground.

⁷ At one moment I may speak about a nation or a kingdom to uproot it, pull it down, or destroy it.

¹¹ and shall say to them, So says the LORD Almighty, Even so I will break this people of this city, as one breaks a potter's vessel that cannot be made whole again. And they shall bury them in Tophet until there is no place left to bury. ¹² "'This is how I will treat this place and its inhabitants,'declares the LORD, 'I will make this city like Topheth. ¹³ And the houses of Jerusalem and the houses of the kings of Judah were defiled as the place of Tophet to all the houses which they burnt incense upon their roofs to all the army of the heavens, and pouring out libations to other gods

³⁶ "You have said this about the city: Because of wars, famines, and plagues it will be handed over to the king of Babylon. the LORD the God of Israel says:

² He caused me to pass among them round about. There were very many on the surface of the valley and they were very dry.

²⁹ And I will not any more hide My face from them, for I have poured out My Spirit on the house of Israel, declares the Sovereign LORD.

¹ And when you allocate the land as an inheritance, you shall provide a contribution for the LORD as a holy portion from the land, its length being twenty-five thousand cubits and its width ten thousand cubits; it is holy in all its territory, all around. ² Of this, a square five hundred long and five hundred wide is to be for the holy place, with a space of fifty cubits all round it. ³ And from this measured area you shall measure a length of twenty-five thousand cubits and a width of ten thousand cubits, and in it will be the sanctuary, the most holy place. ⁴ It is a holy portion of the land; it shall be for the priests, the ministers of the sanctuary, who come near to minister to the LORD. It shall be a place for their houses and a holy place for the sanctuary. ⁵ Twenty-five thousand in length, and ten thousand in breadth, shall be to the Levites, the ministers of the house, t will be their possession for cities to live in. ⁶ And you shall give the possession of the city, five thousand cubits wide, and twenty-five thousand long, beside the offering of the holy portion. It shall be for the whole house of Israel.

³⁵ A perimeter shall measure 18,000 units, and the name of the city from that time on shall be 'THE LORD IS THERE.'"

¹⁷ "And truly you will know that I am the LORD your God, dwelling in Zion, my holy mountain. Then Jerusalem will be holy, and no foreigners will invade her again.

²⁰ In that day there will be on the bells of the horses, HOLY TO the LORD; and the pots in the LORD's house will be like the bowls before the altar.

¹ Ater Jesus had said this, he went with his disciples across the Kidron valley to a place where there was a garden, which he and his disciples entered.
