1 The allotment of the descendants of Joseph went from the Jordan by Jericho, at the waters of Jericho to the east, into the wilderness, going up from Jericho into the hill country to Bethel;
2 It went out from Bethel to Luz, and passed along to the border of the Archites to Ataroth;
3 It proceeded westward to the territory of the Japhletites as far as the territory of lower Beth-horon, then toward Gezer, ending at the Mediterranean Sea.
4 Manasseh and Ephraim, the descendants of Joseph, received their inheritance.
5 This was the border of the children of Ephraim according to their families. The border of their inheritance eastward was Ataroth Addar, to Upper Beth Horon.
6 Then the border proceeded west from Michmethath on the north, then turned east toward Taanath-shiloh, continuing to the east of Janoah.
7 And it went down from Janoah to Ataroth, and to Naarah, and came to Jericho, and came out at the Jordan.
8 From Tappuah, the border went westward to the river Kanah, and its boundary line was at the sea. This is the inheritance of the tribe of the sons of Ephraim, for their families.
9 And there were cities with their villages separated for the children of Ephraim in the midst of the possession of the children of Manasses.
10 They didn't drive out the Canaanites who lived in Gezer; but the Canaanites dwell in the midst of Ephraim to this day, and became servants to do forced labour.
