¹⁰ But I would not listen to Balaam; therefore he blessed you still: so I delivered you out of his hand.

¹¹ 'Behold, the people that has come out of Egypt covers the surface of the earth. Now, come curse them for me. Perhaps I shall be able to fight against them, and shall drive them out.'” ¹² God said to Balaam, "You will not go with them; you will not curse the people, because they are blessed."

¹⁸ Balaam answered Balak's servants: "Even if Balak gave me his palace filled with silver and gold, I could not disobey the command of the LORD my God no matter whether the request was important or not. ¹⁹ "Now, please stay here tonight, as the others did, and I will find out what else the LORD may have to tell me." ²⁰ That night God came to Balaam and said: "If these men have come to summon you, go with them, but do only what I tell you."

³⁵ The angel of the LORD said to Balaam, "Go with the men, but speak only the word that I will speak to you." So Balaam went with the princes of Balak.

³ And Balaam said to Balak, Stand by your burnt offering and I will go. Perhaps the LORD will come to meet me and whatever he shows me I will tell you. And he went to a bare height. ⁴ And God met Balaam. And he said to Him, I have prepared seven altars, and I have offered upon the altar a bull and a ram. ⁵ And the LORD put a saying in Balaam's mouth, and said, "Go again to Balak and say on this wise." ⁶ He went back to Balak and found him standing beside his burnt offering with all the princes of Moab. ⁷ Balaam delivered this message: "Balak brought me from Aram. The king of Moab summoned me from the eastern mountains. Come and curse Jacob for me," he said. 'Come and condemn Israel. ⁸ "'How can I curse those whom God has not cursed? How can I condemn those whom the LORD has not condemned? ⁹ Because from the top of the rocks I see him, from hilltops I watch him. Behold, a people who dwell alone, they do not consider themselves among the nations. ¹⁰ Who can count the dust of Jacob, or number the fourth part of Israel? Let me die the death of the righteous, and let my last end be like his! ¹¹ Balak responded to Balaam: "What have you done to me? I brought you here to curse my enemies, but all you have done is bless them!" ¹² He answered and said, "Should I not speak what the LORD puts in my mouth?"

¹⁵ Then Balaam said to Balak: "Stay here beside your burnt offering while I meet with God over there." ¹⁶ The LORD met Balaam, and put a word in his mouth, and said, "Return to Balak, and say this." ¹⁷ So he returned and found Balak still standing by his burnt offering. He was with the leaders of Moab. Balak asked what the LORD said. ¹⁸ Then he uttered his oracle, and said, "Stand up, Balak, and hear; listen to me, son of Zippor! ¹⁹ God is not a man, that he should lie, nor a son of humankind, that he should change his mind. Has he said, and will he not do it? And has he spoken, and will he not fulfill it? ²⁰ Look, I have received a command to bless. He has blessed, and I can't reverse it. ²¹ He has not seen iniquity in Jacob, neither has He seen perverseness in Israel. the LORD his God is with him, the shout of a king is among them. ²² God brought them out of Egypt; he has as it were the strength of a wild ox. ²³ For there is not a spell against Jacob, nor any divination against Israel. Now it is said of Jacob and Israel, See what God has done! ²⁴ Look! the people will rise like the lion; he raises himself and will not lie down until he eats the prey and drinks the blood of the slain." ²⁵ And Balak said to Balaam, Neither curse them at all, nor bless them at all. ²⁶ Balaam answered: "Did I not tell you that I must do everything the LORD tells me?"

⁵ How beautiful are thy tents, O Jacob, thy dwelling, O Israel! ⁶ "They are like valleys that stretch out, like gardens beside the river, like aloes planted by the LORD, like cedars beside the waters. ⁷ Water will flow from his buckets and his seed will be in many waters and his king will be higher than Agag and his kingdom will be exalted. ⁸ ?God brought him out of Egypt; he hath as it were the strength of a buffalo. He shall consume the nations his enemies, and break their bones, and with his arrows shall smite [them] in pieces. ⁹ He lies down, he rests as a lion; and as a young lion, who shall rouse him? Those that bless you are blessed, and those that curse you are cursed. ¹⁰ Balak's anger burned against Balaam. He struck his hands together and Balak said to Balaam: I called you to curse my enemies! But you have persisted in blessing them three times!

⁵ But the LORD your God would not listen to Balaam, but the LORD your God turned the curse to a blessing to you, because the LORD your God loved you.

¹⁷ "Weapons forged against you will not prevail! You will refute every tongue that accuses you. This is the heritage of the servants of the LORD and this is their vindication from me," declares the LORD.
