²⁰ If you forsake the LORD and serve foreign gods, he will turn and bring disaster to you; he will destroy you after he has done good to you."

¹² But if you will embrace the errors of these nations that dwell among you, and make marriages with them, and join friendships: ¹³ know for certain that the LORD your God will not continue to drive out these nations ahead of you. Instead, they will be a snare and a trap for you, a whip to your backs, and thorns in your eyes, until you perish from this good land that the LORD your God has given you. ¹⁴ Look! I am about to die, and you know in all your hearts and souls that not one thing failed from all the good things that the LORD your God promised concerning you; everything has been fulfilled; not one thing failed. ¹⁵ However, just as all of the good things have come about that the LORD your God promised, so also the LORD will bring upon you all of the threats until he has destroyed you from possessing this good land that he has given you.

⁹ "And you, Solomon my son, know the God of your father and serve him with a whole heart and a willing mind, for the LORD searches all hearts and understands every plan and all thoughts. If you seek him, he will be found by you, but if you abandon him, he will reject you forever.

² and he went out to meet Asa, and said to him, "Hear me, Asa, and all Judah and Benjamin. The LORD is with you, while you are with him; and if you seek him, he will be found by you; but if you forsake him, he will forsake you.

²² For I was ashamed to ask the king for troops and horses to protect us from enemies on the way because we said to the king, "the hand of our God is favorable to all who seek him, but his strength and anger are against all who forsake them."

²⁸ But the destruction of rebels and sinners shall be together, and those who forsake the LORD will perish.

¹⁰ But they rebelled and grieved his Holy Spirit. Therefore he turned and became their enemy, and he himself fought against them.

¹¹ "But you who forsake the LORD, who forget my holy mountain, who prepare a table for Fortune, and who fill up mixed wine to Destiny; ¹² "I will destine you for the sword, and you will all bend down for the slaughter! I called but you did not answer. I spoke but you did not listen. You did evil in my sight and chose what displeases me."

¹³ LORD, you are the hope of Israel; all who forsake you will be put to shame. Those who turn aside from you will be written in the dust, because they have forsaken the LORD, the spring of living water.

²⁴ But when a righteous man turns away from his righteousness and commits unrighteousness and does according to all the abominations that a wicked man does, will he live? None of his righteous deeds that he has done will be remembered. In his trespass that he has trespassed and in his sin that he has sinned, in them he will die.

⁴² But God turned, and gave them over to worship the host of heaven, as it is written in the book of the prophets, 'Did you offer to me sacrifices and offerings forty years in the wilderness, O house of Israel?

²⁶ If we deliberately go on sinning after we have received the knowledge of the truth, no further sacrifice for sins remains, ²⁷ but only a terrifying prospect of judgment and a raging fire that will consume the enemies of God.

³⁸ But my righteous one will live by faith, and if he shrinks back, my soul is not well pleased with him."
