1 On the first day of the week, very early in the morning, the women came to the tomb, bringing the spices they had prepared. 2 They found the stone rolled away from the tomb, 3 but when they entered, they did not find the body of the Lord Jesus. 4 While they were at a loss about this, suddenly two men in glittering robes stood beside them. 5 They were frightened and bowed their faces to the ground, but the men said to them, "Why are you looking for the living among the dead? 6 He is not here; He has risen! Remember how He told you while He was still in Galilee: 7 'The Son of Man must be delivered into the hands of sinful men, and be crucified, and on the third day rise again.'" 8 Then they remembered his words, 9 When they returned from the tomb they told all these things to the eleven, and to all the rest. 10 It was Mary Magdalene, Joanna, Mary the mother of James, and the other women with them who told this to the apostles. 11 But their words seemed like nonsense to them, and they did not believe the women. 12 But Peter arose and ran to the tomb; and stooping down, he saw the linen wrappings lying by themselves; and he went away, marveling to himself at what had happened. 13 That same day two of them were going to a village called Emmaus, about seven miles from Jerusalem. 14 They were talking with each other about everything that had happened. 15 And as they talked and deliberated, Jesus Himself came up and walked along with them. 16 But their eyes were kept from recognizing him. 17 He asked them, “What are you discussing so intently as you walk along?” They stood still, with sadness on their faces. 18 Then one of them, named Cleopas, answered him, "Are you the only visitor to Jerusalem and do not know the things that have happened there in these days?" 19 "What things?" He asked. "The things about Jesus the Nazarene," they said, "who was a Prophet powerful in work and word before God and all the people; 20 and how the chief priests and our rulers handed him over to be condemned to death, and they crucified him. 21 But we had hoped that he was the one who was going to redeem Israel. Indeed, besides all this, it is the third day since all this happened. 22 Furthermore, some of our women amazed us. They were at the tomb early this morning, 23 and not found his body, they came and told us that they had seen a vision of angels, who said that he is alive. 24 Then some of our companions went to the tomb and found it just as the women had described. But Him they did not see.” 25 He said to them, “Foolish men, and slow of heart to believe in all that the prophets have spoken! 26 Did not the Christ have to suffer these things and enter his glory?" 27 And beginning at Moses and all the prophets, he explained to them the things in all the scriptures, concerning himself. 28 Then they approached the village to which they were going, and He acted as though He were going on farther, 29 But they pleaded with Him, “Stay with us, for it is nearly evening and the day is almost over.” So He went in to stay with them. 30 When he was at the table with them, he took bread, blessed and broke it, and gave it to them. 31 Then their eyes were opened and they recognized him; but he disappeared from their sight. 32 They asked one another, “Were not our hearts burning within us as He spoke with us on the road and opened the Scriptures to us?” 33 And they got up that very hour and returned to Jerusalem. There they found the eleven and those with them, gathered together 34 and saying, "Really the Lord has risen and he has appeared to Simon." 35 And they told what had happened on the road, and how he was recognized by them in the breaking of bread. 36 While they were all talking about this, Jesus himself stood among them and said to them, "Peace be with you." 37 But they were startled and frightened, thinking they had seen a spirit. 38 And he said to them, Why are you troubled? and why do doubts arise in your minds? 39 Look at My hands and My feet. It is I Myself. Touch Me and see—for a spirit does not have flesh and bones, as you see I have.” 40 When he had said this, he showed them his hands and his feet. 41 And while they still did not believe because of joy, and marvelled, he said to them, Have you anything here to eat? 42 They gave him a piece of broiled fish, 43 and he took it and ate it in their presence. 44 Jesus said to them, “These are the words I spoke to you while I was still with you: Everything must be fulfilled that is written about Me in the Law of Moses, the Prophets, and the Psalms.” 45 Then he opened their minds, so they could understand the Scriptures. 46 And He told them, “This is what is written: The Christ will suffer and rise from the dead on the third day, 47 and that repentance and forgiveness of sins should be preached in his name to all nations, beginning at Jerusalem. 48 You are witnesses of these things. 49 And I will send to you what my Father has promised; but stay in the city until you have been clothed with power from on high. 50 When Jesus had led them out as far as Bethany, He lifted up His hands and blessed them. 51 While he was blessing them, he left them and was taken up to heaven. 52 Then they worshiped him and returned to Jerusalem with great joy, 53 and they were continually in the temple, praising God.

Luke 24:1-11

11 We have much to say about this, but it is hard to explain, because you are dull of hearing. 12 Although by this time you ought to be teachers, you need someone to reteach you the basic principles of God’s word. You need milk, not solid food!

Psalms 22:1-31

1 My God, my God, why have you forsaken me? Why are you so far from helping me, and from the words of my groaning? 2 O my God, I cry in the daytime, but You do not answer; and in the night, and am not silent. 3 Yet you are holy, enthroned on the praises of Israel. 4 In You our fathers trusted; They trusted, and You delivered them." 5 They cried to you, and were delivered. They trusted in you, and were not disappointed. 6 But I am a worm and not a man, scorned by humankind and despised by people. 7 All who see me deride me; they bust out the lip, they shake the head, 8 "He trusts in the LORD; let him deliver him. Let him rescue him, since he delights in him." 9 But you brought me out of the womb. You made me trust while at my mother's breasts. 10 On you I was cast from the womb. From my mother's belly you have been my God. 11 Don’t be far from me, for trouble is near. For there is no one to help. 12 Many bulls have surrounded me, strong bulls of Bashan have encircled me. 13 they gape on me with their mouths as a tearing and a roaring lion. 14 I am poured out like water, and all my bones are out of joint. My heart is like wax; it is melted within me. 15 My strength is dried up like a potsherd, and my tongue sticks to the roof of my mouth; and you have brought me into the dust of death. 16 For dogs have surrounded me; a gang of evil-doers has encircled me. They pierced my hands and my feet. 17 I can count all my bones. People stare and gloat over me. 18 They divide My garments among them and cast lots for My clothing. 19 But You, O LORD, be not far off; O My Strength, hurry to help Me! 20 Deliver my soul from the sword, my precious life from the power of the dog. 21 Save me from the mouth of the lion, and from the horns of the wild oxen answer me. 22 I will declare your name to my brothers. Among the assembly, I will praise you. 23 You who fear the LORD, praise him. All you descendants of Jacob, glorify him. Revere him, all you descendants of Israel. 24 For He has not despised nor hated the affliction of the afflicted; and He has not hidden His face from him, but when he cried to Him, He heard. 25 From you comes my praise in the great assembly. I will pay my vows before those who fear him. 26 The meek shall eat and be satisfied; those who seek the LORD shall praise Him; your heart shall live forever. 27 All the limits of the earth shall remember and return to the LORD, And all the families of the nations shall bow down before Him." 28 Because the kingship belongs to the LORD, and he rules over the nations. 29 All the fat ones of the earth will eat and worship. All those who go down to the dust will bow before him, even he who cannot keep his soul alive. 30 Posterity shall serve him. Future generations shall be told about the Lord. 31 They will come and tell his saving deeds to a people yet to be born, that he has done it.

Psalms 69:1-36

1 Save me, God, for the waters have come up to my neck. 2 I sink in deep mire, where there is no foothold. I have come into deep waters, where the floods overflow me. 3 I am weary with my crying. My throat is dry. My eyes fail looking for my God. 4 Those who hate me without cause are more than the hairs of my head. My persecutors are mighty, and they want to destroy me. Must I be forced to return what I did not steal? 5 God, you know my sins, and my guilt is not hidden from you. 6 Let those who wait for you not be put to shame because of me, O Sovereign LORD Almighty. Let those who seek you not be disgraced because of me, O God of Israel. 7 For I have suffered reproach for Your sake; shame has covered my face. 8 I am a stranger to my brothers, a foreigner to my mother's sons. 9 Zeal for your house consumes me, and the mockeries of those who insult you fall on me. 10 I weep and fast, and I am mocked for it. 11 When I put on the clothing of grief, they said evil of me. 12 Those who sit at the gate talk of me and I am the song of the drunkards. 13 But as for me, my prayer is to You, O LORD, at a time of favor, O God! in the plentitude of Your mercy answer me, in the truth of Your salvation. 14 Rescue me from the mud and do not let me sink. Rescue me from those who hate me, and from the deep waters. 15 Do not let the torrent of waters flood over me, or the deep swallow me, or the pit close its mouth over me. 16 Answer me, O LORD, because your loyal love is good; according to your abundant mercies, turn to me, 17 Do not hide your face from your servant, for I am in distress. Answer me speedily. 18 Draw near and redeem me; ransom me because of my enemies. 19 You know my reproach and my shame, and my dishonor; my enemies are all before You. 20 Reproach hath broken my heart, and I am overwhelmed: and I looked for sympathy, but there was none; and for comforters, but I found none. 21 They gave me also gall for my food, and made me drink vinegar for my thirst. 22 Let their table before them become a snare, may it become a retribution and a trap. 23 Let their eyes be darkened, so that they cannot see. Let their backs be continually bent. 24 Pour out Your wrath on them; and let the glow of Your anger overtake them. 25 Let their palace be desolate, and let no one dwell in their tents. 26 For they persecute those whom you have struck, and they brag about the pain of those you have wounded. 27 Charge them with crime upon crime. Do not let them come into your righteousness. 28 Let them be blotted out of the book of life, and not be written with the righteous. 29 But I am in pain and distress. Let your salvation, God, protect me. 30 I will praise the name of God in song, and magnify him with thanksgiving. 31 That will please the LORD more than oxen and bulls with horns and hooves. 32 The humble have seen and are glad; you who seek God, your heart shall live. 33 For the LORD hears the needy and does not despise his captive people. 34 Let heavens and earth praise him, the seas and all that moves in them, 35 For God will save Zion, and build the cities of Judah. They shall settle there, and own it. 36 The seed also of his servants will inherit it and those who love his name will dwell in it.

Isaiah 53:1-12

1 Who has believed our message, and to whom has the arm of the LORD been revealed? 2 He grew up before him like a tender shoot, and like a root out of dry ground. He had no beauty or majesty to attract us to him. Nothing in his appearance will make us desire him. 3 He was despised, and rejected of men; a man of sorrows, and acquainted with grief: and as one from whom men hide their face he was despised, and we esteemed him not 4 He took up our infirmities and carried our sorrows. We considered him stricken by God, smitten by him, and afflicted. 5 But he was pierced for our transgressions. He was crushed for our iniquities. The punishment that brought our peace was on him; and by his wounds we are healed. 6 All we like sheep have gone astray; each one has turned to his own way; and the LORD has laid on him the iniquity of us all. 7 He was oppressed, and he was afflicted, yet he did not open his mouth; he was brought as a lamb to the slaughter, and as a sheep before her shearers is dumb, so he did not open his mouth. 8 By oppression and judgment he was taken away; and as for his generation, who [among them] considered that he was cut off out of the land of the living? for the transgression of my people was he stricken 9 He made his grave with the wicked, and with the rich in his death, although he had done no violence, and there was no deceit in his mouth. 10 It was the LORD's will to allow him to be crushed. Even though the LORD makes his life a guilt offering, he will see his offspring and prolong his days, and the will of the LORD will prosper in his hand. 11 After his suffering he will see the light and be satisfied. By his knowledge my righteous servant will justify many. He will bear their iniquities. 12 Therefore I will divide him a portion with the great and he will divide the spoil with the strong, because he poured out his soul to death and was numbered with the transgressors. Yet he bore the sin of many and made intercession for the transgressors.

8 You have put everything under his feet!" In thus making everything subject to man, God left nothing that was not subjected to him. Then he will sprinkle some of the blood with his finger seven times in front of the throne of mercy. 15 Then let him put to death the goat of the sin-offering for the people, and take its blood inside the veil and do with it as he did with the blood of the ox, shaking drops of it on and before the cover of the ark. 16 and he shall make atonement for the Holy Place, because of the uncleanness of the children of Israel, and because of their transgressions, even all their sins; and so he shall do for the Tent of Meeting, that dwells with them in the midst of their uncleanness. 17 No one shall be in the Tent of Meeting when he enters to make atonement in the Holy Place, until he comes out, and has made atonement for himself and for his household, and for all the assembly of Israel. 18 "He shall go out to the altar that is before the LORD and make atonement for it, and shall take some of the bull's blood, and some of the goat's blood, and put it around on the horns of the altar. 19 He shall sprinkle some of the blood on it with his finger seven times, and cleanse it, and make it holy from the uncleanness of the children of Israel.

Today I have become your father. 8 "Ask of me, and I will make the nations your inheritance, the ends of the earth your possession. 9 "You will rule them with an iron scepter. You will dash them to pieces like pottery!" 10 So then, O kings, be wise. Be warned, O rulers of the earth. 11 Serve the LORD with fear, and rejoice with trembling. 12 Kiss the Son, lest he be angry and you be destroyed in your way, for his wrath can flare up in a moment. Psalms 72:1-20

1 By Solomon. God, give the king your justice; your righteousness to the royal son. 2 He will judge your people with righteousness, and your poor with justice. 3 The mountains shall bring prosperity to the people. The hills bring the fruit of righteousness. 4 May he defend the afflicted of the people and deliver the children of the poor, but crush the oppressor. 5 and continue, as long as the sun and moon, through all generations. 6 May he descend like rain on mown grass, like showers watering the earth. 7 In His days the righteous shall flourish, and plenty of peace, till the moon is not. 8 He shall also rule from sea to sea, and from the River to the ends of the earth. 9 The dwellers in the desert shall bow before him, and his enemies shall lick the dust. 10 The kings of Tarshish and of the isles will bring tribute (presents). The kings of Sheba and Seba will offer gifts. 11 Yes, all kings will bow down before him. All nations will serve him. 12 For he will deliver the needy who crieth, and the afflicted, who hath no helper; 13 He will have pity on the poor and needy, he will save the needy persons. 14 He will redeem their soul from oppression and violence; And precious will their blood be in his sight: 15 And he shall live, and the gold of Sheba shall be given to him. Men shall pray for him continually. He shall bless him all day long. 16 Abundance of grain shall be throughout the land. Its fruit sways like Lebanon. Let it flourish, thriving like the grass of the field. 17 His name endures forever, his name continues as long as the sun. Men shall be blessed in him, all nations will call him blessed. 18 Praise be to the LORD God, the God of Israel, who alone does marvelous deeds. 19 Blessed be to his glorious name forever. May the whole earth be filled with his glory. Amen and amen! 20 This ends the prayers by David, the son of Jesse.

Psalms 88:1-18

1 A song. A psalm of the sons of Korah. For the music director; according to Mahalath Leannoth. A maskil of Heman the Ezrahite. O LORD, God of my salvation, I cry out by day and through the night before you. 2 Let my prayer come before you: incline your ear to my cry; 3 For my soul is full of troubles, and my life draws near the grave. 4 I am counted among those who go down into the pit. I am like a man who has no help, 5 set apart among the dead, like the slain who lie in the grave, whom you remember no more. They are cut off from your hand. 6 You have laid me in the lowest pit, in the darkest depths. 7 Your wrath lies heavily upon me; You have afflicted me with all Your waves. Selah. 8 You have taken my friends from me. You have made me an abomination to them. I am confined, and I can’t escape. 9 My eye languishes from misery. I call on you, O LORD, every day; I spread out my hands to you. 10 Do you show wonders to the dead? Do the dead rise up and praise you? Selah. 11 Is Your grace declared in the grave? Or Your faithfulness in Destruction? 12 Are your wonders known in the darkness, or your righteousness in the land of forgetfulness? 13 I cry out to you for help, O LORD, and in the morning my prayer will come before you. 14 Why, LORD, have you rejected me? Why have you hidden your face from me? 15 Ever since I was young, I have been suffering and near death. I have endured your terrors, and now I am in despair. 16 Your burning anger has swept over me. Your terrors have destroyed me. 17 They came around me like water all day long. They completely engulfed me. 18 You have taken my loved ones and friends far away from me. Darkness is my only friend!

Psalms 109:4-20

4 In return for my love they accuse me, though I am in prayer. 5 And they repaid me evil for good: and hatred for my love. 6 Appoint the evil one to oppose him. Let an accuser stand at his right hand. 7 When he is judged, let him come out guilty, and let his prayer become as sin. 8 Let his days be few; and let another take his office of overseer. 9 May his children be fatherless, and his wife a widow. 10 may his children be wandering beggars, let them be sought from their ruins. 11 Let the creditor seize all that he has. Let strangers plunder the fruit of his labor. 12 May no one extend gracious love to him, or show favor to his fatherless children. 13 Let his descendants be cut off. Let their name be blotted out in the next generation. 14 Let the iniquity of his ancestors be remembered before the LORD, and let the sin of his mother not be blotted out. 15 let them be always before the LORD, so that He may cut off the memory of them from the earth; 16 For he didn't think to extend gracious love; he harassed to death the poor, the needy, and the broken hearted. 17 Yea, he loved cursing, and it came to him; he also had no pleasure in blessing, and it was far from him. 18 He put on cursing like a robe, and it has come into his body like water, and into his bones like oil. 19 May those curses wrap around him like a garment, or like a belt that one always wears. 20 May this be the way the LORD repays my accuser, those who speak evil against me.

Psalms 110:1-7

1 A Psalm by David. the LORD says to my Lord, Sit at My right hand, until I make your enemies a footstool for your feet. 2 the LORD will send out your mighty scepter from Zion; rule in the midst of your enemies. 3 Your people will volunteer in the day of your power. In holy splendor, from the womb of the dawn, you will have the dew of your youth. 4 The LORD has sworn, and will not change his mind: "You are a priest forever in the order of Melchizedek." 5 The Lord is at your right hand. He will crush kings in the day of his wrath. 6 He will judge among the nations. He will heap up dead bodies. He will crush the ruler of the whole earth. 7 He will drink of the brook in the way; therefore he will lift up his head.

He will not judge by the sight of his eyes, neither decide by the hearing of his ears; 4 but with righteousness he will judge the poor, and decide with equity for the humble of the earth. He will strike the earth with the rod of his mouth; and with the breath of his lips he will kill the wicked. 5 Righteousness will be the belt of his waist, and faithfulness the belt of his waist. 6 The wolf will live with the lamb, and the leopard will lie down with the young goat, the calf, the young lion, and the fattened calf together; and a little child will lead them. 7 Also the cow and the bear will graze. Their young will lie down together. And the lion will eat straw like the ox. 8 The nursing child will play by the hole of the cobra. The weaned child will put his hand on the viper's den. 9 They will not hurt nor destroy in all my holy mountain; for the earth will be full of the knowledge of the LORD, as the waters cover the sea. 10 In that day the root of Jesse, who standeth for an ensign of the people, him the Gentiles shall beseech, and his sepulchre shall be glorious.

Make straight in the desert a highway for our God. 4 "Every valley will be raised up! Every mountain and hill made low. The rough ground will become level and the rugged places a plain. 5 And the glory of the LORD shall be revealed, and all humankind together shall see it, for the mouth of the LORD has spoken." 6 A voice shouts: "Cry out!" And I said: "What shall I cry?" The voice shouts: "All men are like grass, and all their glory is like the flowers of the field. 7 "The grass withers and the flowers fall, because the breath of the LORD blows on them. I have spent my strength in vain for nothing; yet surely the justice due to me is with the LORD, and my reward with my God.” 5 And now the LORD says, who formed me from the womb as a servant for him, to bring Jacob back to him, and that Israel might not be gathered, for I am honored in the eyes of the LORD, and my God has become my strength. 6 yes, he says, It is too light a thing that you should be my servant to raise up the tribes of Jacob and to restore the preserved of Israel. I will also give you for a light to the Gentiles, that you may be my salvation to the end of the earth. 7 Thus says the LORD, the Redeemer of Israel, and his Holy One, to the one who is despised, to the abhorred of the nation, the servant of rulers: "Kings shall see and arise; princes, and they shall worship; because of the LORD who is faithful, even the Holy One of Israel, who has chosen you." 8 Thus says the LORD, "In a season acceptable I answer you. He wakens morning by morning, He wakens the ear to hear as the learned. 5 The Sovereign LORD has opened my ear. I was not rebellious. I have not turned back. 6 I gave my back to those who struck me, and my cheeks to those who pulled out my beard; I did not hide my face from insults and spittle.

It will be built again, with street and moat, even in troubled times. 26 After the sixty-two weeks the Anointed One will be cut off, and will have nothing. The people of the prince who come will destroy the city and the sanctuary. Its end will be with a flood, and war will be even to the end. Desolations are determined. 27 And he shall confirm a covenant with the many for one week. And in the middle of the week he shall cause the sacrifice and the offering to cease. And on a wing of the altar will be abominations that desolate, even until the end. And that which was decreed shall pour out on the desolator.

They will appoint for themselves a single leader and will take dominion over the land, for great will be the day of Jezreel.

8 In a single month I got rid of three shepherds because I grew tired of them, and they despised me. 9 "Then I said, 'I will not feed you! If you die go ahead and die. Let those that are left eat each other!" 10 And I took my staff Kindness and broke it, to break my covenant that I had made with all the peoples. 11 And it was broken in that day, and so the poor of the flock who were watching Me knew that it was the word of the LORD. 12 I said to them, If you think it best, give me my value; and if not, keep it. So they weighed for my wages thirty pieces of silver. 13 the LORD said to me, “Throw it to the potter, the handsome price that I was valued at by them!” I took the thirty pieces of silver, and threw them to the potter, in the LORD’s house.

10 I will pour on the house of David, and on the inhabitants of Jerusalem, the spirit of grace and of supplication; and they will look to Me whom they have pierced; and they shall mourn for him, as one mourns for his only son, and will grieve bitterly for him, as one grieves for his firstborn.

31 Then He began to teach them that the Son of Man must suffer many things and be rejected by the elders, chief priests, and scribes, and that He must be killed and after three days rise again. 32 He spoke plainly about this. And Peter took him aside and began to rebuke him.

31 And he took the Twelve aside and said to them, "See! we are going up to Jerusalem, and everything written in the prophets about the Son of Man will be fulfilled. 32 He will be handed over to the Gentiles and will be mocked and insulted and spit upon. 33 and the third day he shall rise again. 34 But the disciples did not understand any of these things. The meaning was hidden from them, and they did not comprehend what He was saying.

Luke 21:22

22 For these are the days of vengeance, to fulfill all that has been written.

4 But I have told you this so that when the time comes you will remember that I told you about them. I did not tell you this in the beginning, because I was still with you." 5 But now I am going to him who sent me, yet none of you asks me, 'Where are you going?'

John 16:16-17

16 In a little while you will see Me no more, and then after a little while you will see Me.” 17 So some of his disciples said to one another, "What does he mean by telling us, 'In a little while, you will behold me no longer; then, after a little, you shall see me'? and, 'I go to the Father'?"

John 17:11-13

11 I will no longer be in the world, but they are in the world, and I am coming to You. Holy Father, protect them by Your name, the name You gave Me, so that they may be one as We are one. 12 While I was with them, I protected and preserved them by Your name, the name You gave Me. Not one of them has been lost, except the son of destruction, so that the Scripture would be fulfilled. 13 But now I am coming to You, and I am saying these things while I am in the world, so that they may have My joy fulfilled within them.

John 19:24-37

24 So they said to one another, "Let us not tear it, but cast lots for it, whose it shall be." This happened that the Scripture might be fulfilled which says: "They divided my garments among them, and for my clothing they cast lots." This is what the soldiers did. 25 By the cross of Jesus stood his mother, and his mother's sister, Mary the wife of Clopas, and Mary Magdalene. 26 When Jesus saw His mother and the disciple whom He loved standing nearby, He said to His mother, “Woman, here is your son.” 27 Then He said to the disciple, “Here is your mother.” So from that hour, this disciple took her into his home. 28 After this, knowing that everything was now accomplished so that the Scripture might be fulfilled, Jesus says, “I’m thirsty!” 29 A jar of sour wine was sitting there. So they soaked a sponge in the wine, put it on a stalk of hyssop, and lifted it to His mouth. 30 When Jesus had received the vinegar, he said: It is finished! And he bowed his head and gave up his spirit. 31 It was the day of Preparation, and the next day was a High Sabbath. In order that the bodies would not remain on the cross during the Sabbath, the Jews asked Pilate to have the legs broken and the bodies removed. 32 So the soldiers came and broke the legs of the first man who had been crucified with Jesus, and those of the other. 33 But when they came to Jesus, and found that he was already dead, they did not break his legs. 34 But one of the soldiers pierced his side with a spear, and forthwith there came out blood and water. 35 The one who saw it has testified to this, and his testimony is true. He knows that he is telling the truth, so that you also may believe. 36 Now these things happened so that the Scripture would be fulfilled: “Not one of His bones will be broken.” 37 And, as another Scripture says: “They will look on the One they have pierced.”

29 When they had carried out all that was written about him, they took him down from the tree and laid him in a tomb. 30 But God raised him from the dead, 31 For many days he was seen by those who had come up with him from Galilee to Jerusalem; they are now his witnesses to the People.

2 Corinthians 3:14-18

14 But their minds were closed. For to this day the same veil remains at the reading of the old covenant. It has not been lifted, because only in Christ can it be removed. 15 And even to this day when Moses is read, a veil covers their hearts. 16 But whenever anyone turns to the Lord, the veil is taken away. 17 Now the Lord is the Spirit, and where the Spirit of the Lord is, there is freedom. 18 And we, who with unveiled faces all reflect the glory of the Lord, are being transformed into His image with intensifying glory, which comes from the Lord, who is the Spirit.

2 Corinthians 4:4-6

4 The god of this age has blinded the minds of unbelievers so they cannot see the light of the gospel of the glory of Christ, who is the image of God. 5 For we do not preach ourselves, but Jesus Christ as Lord, and ourselves as your servants for Jesus' sake. 6 For God, who said, “Let light shine out of darkness,” made His light shine in our hearts to give us the light of the knowledge of the glory of God in the face of Jesus Christ.

Romans 10:12-18

12 For there is no difference between Jew and Greek: The same Lord is Lord of all, and is rich to all who call on Him, 13 for, “Everyone who calls on the name of the Lord will be saved.” 14 How then can they call on the One they have not believed in? And how can they believe in the One of whom they have not heard? And how can they hear without someone to preach? 15 And how can they preach unless they are sent? As it is written: “How beautiful are the feet of those who bring good news!” 16 But not all of them welcomed the good news. For Isaiah says, “Lord, who has believed our message?” 17 Consequently, faith comes of hearing; and hearing, through the word of Christ. 18 But I ask, did they not hear? Indeed they did: “Their voice has gone out into all the earth, their words to the ends of the world.”
