¹ And when Balaam saw that it pleased the LORD to bless Israel, he did not go, as at the other times, to meet with omens, but he set his face toward the wilderness. ² And Balaam lifted up his eyes, and sees Israel encamped by their tribes; and the Spirit of God came upon him. ³ and he took up his parable, and said,—The oracle of Balaam, son of Beor, Yea the oracle of the man, of opened eye; ⁴ The oracle of him who hears the words of God and who sees the vision of the Almighty. Falling down, yet having his eyes open. ⁵ How beautiful are thy tents, O Jacob, thy dwelling, O Israel! ⁶ "They are like valleys that stretch out, like gardens beside the river, like aloes planted by the LORD, like cedars beside the waters. ⁷ Water will flow from his buckets and his seed will be in many waters and his king will be higher than Agag and his kingdom will be exalted. ⁸ ?God brought him out of Egypt; he hath as it were the strength of a buffalo. He shall consume the nations his enemies, and break their bones, and with his arrows shall smite [them] in pieces. ⁹ He lies down, he rests as a lion; and as a young lion, who shall rouse him? Those that bless you are blessed, and those that curse you are cursed. ¹⁰ Balak's anger burned against Balaam. He struck his hands together and Balak said to Balaam: I called you to curse my enemies! But you have persisted in blessing them three times! ¹¹ Therefore, run away to your place now. I said: "I will honor you greatly, but the LORD has held you back from honor." ¹² Balaam replied to Balak: "Did I not tell the messengers whom you sent to me: ¹³ 'If Balak would give me his house full of silver and gold, I can't go beyond the word of the LORD, to do either good or bad of my own mind. I will say what the LORD says?' ¹⁴ So now I will go back to my people: but first let me make clear to you what this people will do to your people in days to come. ¹⁵ He began his discourse by saying: "The oracle of Balaam the son of Beor. The oracle of the man, whose eye is opened, ¹⁶ "The oracle of him who hears the words of God, knows the knowledge of the Most High, and sees the vision of the Almighty. Falling down, yet having his eyes uncovered. ¹⁷ I see him, but not now. I see him, but not near. A star will come out of Jacob. A scepter will rise out of Israel, and shall strike through the corners of Moab, and crush all the sons of Sheth. ¹⁸ Edom will be a captive; Seir, its enemies, will be a captive, and Israel will be acting courageously. ¹⁹ One from Jacob shall hold sway, and will destroy the survivors of the city. ²⁰ And he looked at Amalek, uttered his oracle, and said, "Amalek is first of the nations, but his future will be forever ruin." ²¹ He looked at the Kenite, and took up his parable and said, Your dwelling place is strong, your nest is set in the rock. ²² But still the Kenites will be wasted, till Asshur takes you away prisoner. ²³ And he took up his oracle, and said, Alas, who shall live when God does this! ²⁴ "Ships will come from the coast of Kittim. They will afflict Asshur and will afflict Eber. They will also come to destruction." ²⁵ Balaam got up and went back home. Balak also went his way.

¹³ When Balaam got up in the morning, he said to Balak's princes: "Go back to your own country. the LORD has refused to let me go with you."

³ And Balaam said to Balak, Stand by your burnt offering and I will go. Perhaps the LORD will come to meet me and whatever he shows me I will tell you. And he went to a bare height.

¹⁵ Then Balaam said to Balak: "Stay here beside your burnt offering while I meet with God over there."

²⁰ Look, I have received a command to bless. He has blessed, and I can't reverse it.

²³ For there is not a spell against Jacob, nor any divination against Israel. Now it is said of Jacob and Israel, See what God has done!

²⁸ So Balak took Balaam to the top of Peor, looking down over the waste land.

¹⁶ Lo, these, through the counsel of Balaam, caused the children of Israel to commit sin against the LORD in the matter of Peor, and there was a plague on the assembly of the LORD.

²⁰ Now I know that you will surely be king, and that the kingdom of Israel will be established in your hands.

² Saul went to the desert of Ziph. He took three thousand of Israel's best-trained men to search for David.

²⁵ Then Saul said to David, May you be blessed, my son David. You will do great things and will surely triumph. So David went on his way, and Saul returned home.

¹⁴ But I have a few things against you: you have some there who hold the teaching of Balaam, who taught Balak to put a stumbling block before the sons of Israel, to eat food sacrificed to idols and to practice sexual immorality.

² "The Israelites will encamp each with his standard, with a banner according to their families; they will encamp around the tent of assembly. ³ "On the east side, facing the rising sun, the armies led by Judah will camp under their flag. The leader for the people of Judah is Nahshon, son of Amminadab. ⁴ And those in his division are numbered at 74,600. ⁵ »Next to them will be the tribe of Issachar. The leader for the people of Issachar is Nethanel, son of Zuar. ⁶ And those in his division are numbered at 54,400. ⁷ The tribe of Zebulun; and the prince of the sons of Zebulun is Eliab son of Helon; ⁸ And those in his division are numbered at 57,400. ⁹ All those numbered by division in the camp of Judah are 186,400. They will be the first to travel. ¹⁰ Toward the south will be the division of the camp of Reuben under their standard. And the leader of Reuben will be Elizur, son of Shedeur. ¹¹ And those in his division are numbered at 46,500. ¹² Those encamping next to him are the stock of Simeon. The prince for the sons of Simeon is Shelumiel son of Zurishaddai; ¹³ And those in his division are numbered at 59, 300. ¹⁴ And the tribe of Gad; and the prince of the sons of Gad is Eliasaph son of Reuel; ¹⁵ And those in his division are numbered at 45,650. ¹⁶ All those numbered by division in the camp of Reuben are 151,450. They will be the second to travel. ¹⁷ Then the tent of meeting with the camp of the Levites will travel in the middle of the camps. They will travel just as they have camped, each as designated under his standard. ¹⁸ Toward the west will be the division of the camp of Ephraim under their standard. And the leader of Ephraim will be Elishama, son of Ammihud. ¹⁹ And those in his division are numbered at 40,500. ²⁰ The tribe of Manasseh will be next to him. The leader of the descendants of the tribe of Manasseh will be Camaliel son of Pedahzur. ²¹ And those in his division are numbered at 32,200. ²² "Then will be the tribe of Benjamin. The leader for the people of Benjamin is Abidan, son of Gideoni. ²³ And his division is numbered at 35,400. ²⁴ All that were numbered of the camp of Ephraim were one hundred and eight thousand one hundred: they with their forces shall set out third. ²⁵ Toward the north will be the division of the camp of Dan under their standard. And the leader of Dan will be Ahiezer, son of Ammisshadai. ²⁶ And his division is numbered at 62,700. ²⁷ »Next to them will be the tribe of Asher. The leader for the people of Asher is Pagiel, son of Ochran. ²⁸ And his division is numbered at 41,500. ²⁹ "Then will be the tribe of Naphtali. The leader for the people of Naphtali is Ahira, son of Enan. ³⁰ And his division is numbered at 53,400. ³¹ All those who are numbered by division in the camp of Dan are 157,600.They will be the last to travel under their standards. ³² These are the numbers of the Israelites according to the clans of their ancestral houses. All those numbered by divisions in the camps are 603,550. ³³ The Levites were not counted in the midst of the Israelites, just as the LORD commanded Moses. ³⁴ So the Israelites did everything just as the LORD had commanded Moses. That is, they encamped under their standard and each person traveled with his clan and ancestral house.

²⁵ the LORD came down in the cloud, and spoke to him, and took of the Spirit that was on him, and put it on the seventy elders. When the Spirit rested on them, they prophesied, but they did so no more. ²⁶ Two of the seventy elders, Eldad and Medad, stayed in the camp and did not go out to the tent. There in the camp the Spirit came on them, and they too began to shout like prophets. ²⁷ A young man ran, and told Moses, and said, "Eldad and Medad are prophesying in the camp." ²⁸ Joshua son of Nun, who had been Moses' helper since he was a young man, spoke up and said to Moses: "Stop them, sir!" ²⁹ Moses said to him, "Are you jealous for my sake? I wish that all the LORD's people were prophets, that the LORD would put his Spirit on them."

⁹ Because from the top of the rocks I see him, from hilltops I watch him. Behold, a people who dwell alone, they do not consider themselves among the nations. ¹⁰ Who can count the dust of Jacob, or number the fourth part of Israel? Let me die the death of the righteous, and let my last end be like his!

⁵ How beautiful are thy tents, O Jacob, thy dwelling, O Israel!

¹⁰ When they went from there to Gibeah, a procession of prophets met him, and the Spirit of God rushed upon him, and he prophesied among them.

²⁰ So Saul sent messengers to capture David. When they saw the company of the prophets prophesying and Samuel standing as chief over them, then the Spirit of God came upon Saul's messengers, and they also prophesied.

²³ So he went there to Naioth in Ramah and the Spirit of God came upon him also, and he walked along prophesying until he came to Naioth in Ramah.

¹ The Spirit of God came on Azariah the son of Oded:

⁴ You are beautiful, my love, as Tirzah, lovely as Jerusalem, awesome as an army with banners.

¹⁰ "Who is this that looks down like the dawn, beautiful as the moon, bright as the sun, overwhelming as an army with banners?"

²² Many will say to Me on that day, ‘Lord, Lord, did we not prophesy in Your name, and in Your name drive out demons and perform many miracles?’

⁴ Simon the Zealot and Judas Iscariot who betrayed him.

⁸ Heal the sick, raise the dead, cleanse the lepers, drive out demons. Freely you have received; freely give.

²⁰ Nevertheless, do not rejoice that the spirits submit to you, but rejoice that your names are written in heaven.”

⁴⁹ But one of them, named Caiaphas, who was high priest that year, said to them, “You know nothing at all! ⁵⁰ You do not realize that it is better for you that one man die for the people than that the whole nation perish.” ⁵¹ He did not say this on his own, but being high priest that year he prophesied that Jesus would die for the nation,

³¹ And the LORD opened the eyes of Balaam, and he saw the Angel of the LORD standing in the road with His sword drawn in His hand. And he bowed and fell on his face.

⁷ Balaam delivered this message: "Balak brought me from Aram. The king of Moab summoned me from the eastern mountains. Come and curse Jacob for me," he said. 'Come and condemn Israel.

¹⁸ Then he uttered his oracle, and said, "Stand up, Balak, and hear; listen to me, son of Zippor!

⁴ The oracle of him who hears the words of God and who sees the vision of the Almighty. Falling down, yet having his eyes open.

¹⁶ "The oracle of him who hears the words of God, knows the knowledge of the Most High, and sees the vision of the Almighty. Falling down, yet having his eyes uncovered.

¹ After these things the word of the LORD came to Abram in a vision, saying, "Do not be afraid, Abram. I am your shield, your exceedingly great reward."

¹² And when the sun was down, there fell a slumber upon Abram. And lo, fear and great darkness came upon him.

⁶ He said: "Listen to my words: 'When there are prophets of the LORD among you, I make myself known to them in visions or speak to them in dreams.

²⁰ That night God came to Balaam and said: "If these men have come to summon you, go with them, but do only what I tell you."

²⁴ He stripped off his clothes and he also prophesied before Samuel, and lay down naked all that day and all that night. Therefore they say, Is Saul also among the prophets?

¹⁹ Then you spoke in a vision to your faithful ones, and said, "I have bestowed strength on the warrior. I have exalted a young man from the people.

²⁸ Like the appearance of a bow that is in the cloud on a rainy day, such was the radiance around it; thus was the appearance of the likeness of the glory of the LORD. And I saw, and I fell on my face, and I heard a voice speaking.

¹⁷ "As he approached where I was standing, I became terrified and fell on my face. But he said to me, 'Son of man, understand that the vision pertains to the time of the end.' ¹⁸ And while he was speaking to me, I fell flat with my face on the ground. Then he touched me and set me on my feet,

²⁶ The vision of the evenings and mornings which has been told is true: but seal up the vision; for it belongs to many days to come. ²⁷ I, Daniel, fainted, and was sick for some days. Then I rose up, and did the king's business. I wondered at the vision, but no one understood it.

¹⁵ When he had spoken these words to me, I set my face toward the ground, and was mute. ¹⁶ Then one who looked like a human touched my lips. Then I opened my mouth, and spoke to him: »O my lord, by reason of the vision I have convulsions and I have no strength.

¹⁰ He became hungry and wanted something to eat, but while the meal was being prepared, he fell into a trance.

¹⁹ Peter was still thinking about the vision when the Spirit said to him, "Look! Three men are looking for you.

¹⁷ "When I had returned to Jerusalem and was praying in the temple, I fell into a trance

¹ I must go on boasting. Although there is nothing to gain, I will go on to visions and revelations from the Lord. ² I know a man in Christ who fourteen years ago was caught up to the third heaven. Whether it was in the body or out of the body I do not know, God knows. ³ And I know that this manwhether in the body or apart from the body I do not know, but God knows ⁴ was caught up to paradise and heard inexpressible things, which a man is not permitted to tell.

¹⁰ On the Lord’s day I was in the Spirit, and I heard behind me a loud voice like a trumpet,

¹⁷ And when I saw him, I fell at his feet as though dead. But he laid his right hand on me, saying, "Do not be afraid. I am the First and the Last,

⁸ ¶ And the LORD God had planted a garden eastward in Eden, and there he put the man whom he had formed. ⁹ the LORD God made all kinds of trees grow out of the ground, trees that were pleasing to the eye and good for food. In the middle of the garden were the tree of life and the tree of the knowledge of good and evil. ¹⁰ A river watering the garden flowed from Eden. From there it was separated into four headwaters.

¹⁰ Lot looked up and saw that the district of the Jordan River was well watered, like the garden of the LORD, like the land of Egypt, toward Zoar. This was before the LORD destroyed Sodom and Gomorrah.

³ He is like a tree planted by streams of water. It yields its fruit in season and its leaves do not wither. Whatever he does prospers.

⁸ All your robes are scented with myrrh and aloes and cassia. From palaces of ivory stringed instruments gladden you.

¹² The righteous will flourish like palm trees; they will grow like a cedar in Lebanon. ¹³ Planted in the house of the LORD, they will flourish in the courts of our God. ¹⁴ They will still bear fruit even in old age; they will be luxuriant and green.

¹⁶ The trees of the LORD are satisfied the cedars of Lebanon that He planted;

¹² A locked up garden is my sister, my bride; a locked up spring, a sealed fountain. ¹³ Your plants are an orchard of pomegranates with excellent fruits, with henna and spikenard; ¹⁴ spikenard and saffron, calamus and cinnamon, with every kind of incense tree; myrrh and aloes, with all the best spices, ¹⁵ You are a garden spring, a well of fresh water, streams flowing from Lebanon.

¹¹ I went down into the garden of nuts, to look at the green plants of the valley, to see whether the vine budded, and the pomegranates were in flower.

¹⁹ "I will put the cedar and the acacia, the myrtle and the olive in the desert. I will set pines in the wasteland, the fir and the cypress together.

¹¹ the LORD will continually guide you. He will satisfy your desire in scorched places and give strength to your bones. You will be like a watered garden and like a spring of water whose waters do not fail.

¹⁸ Let those who pursue me be put to shame, but don't put me to shame. Let them be terrified, but don't let me be terrified. Bring the day of judgment on them, and destroy them with double destruction!

¹² They will come and sing in the height of Zion, and will flow to the goodness of the LORD, to the grain, to the new wine, to the oil, and to the young of the flock and of the herd. Their soul will be as a watered garden. They will not sorrow any more at all.

³ Behold, the Ashshuri, a cedar in Lebanon with beautiful branches with an overshadowing forest and high in height; with his foliage among the thick foliage: ⁴ The waters nourished it. The deep made it to grow. The rivers of it ran all around its plantation and it sent out its channels to all the trees of the field.

¹² "All kinds of fruit trees will grow on both sides of the river. Their leaves will not wither, and they will not fail to produce fruit. Each month they will produce fresh fruit because this water flows from the Holy Place. The fruit will be good food, and the leaves will be used for healing."

¹⁸ It will happen in that day, that the mountains will drop down sweet wine, the hills will flow with milk, all the brooks of Judah will flow with waters, and a fountain will flow out from the LORD's house, and will water the valley of Shittim.

⁸ He took Agag the king of the Amalekites alive, and utterly destroyed all the people. ⁹ But Saul and the people spared Agag, and the best of the sheep, and the cattle, and the fat ones and the lambs, and all that was good, and wouldnʼt utterly destroy them; but everything that was despised and rejected, that they utterly destroyed.

³² Then Samuel said, Bring here to me Agag the king of the Amalekites! Agag came to him confidently, thinking, Surely the bitterness of death is past. ³³ And Samuel said, As your sword has made women childless, so shall your mother be childless among women. And Samuel cut Agag in pieces before the LORD in Gilgal.

¹² And David felt conscious that the Lord has established him as king over Israel, and that he had exalted his kingdom for the sake of his people Israel.

²¹ And Solomon ruled over all the kingdoms from the River to the land of the Philistines, and to the border of Egypt. They brought tribute, and served Solomon all the days of his life.

² David knew that the LORD had established him as king over Israel and that his kingdom had been highly exalted for the sake of his people Israel.

²⁰ and mighty kings have been over Jerusalem, even rulers over all beyond the river, and toll, tribute, and custom is given to them.

⁶ "But I myself have installed my king on Zion, my holy hill." ⁷ I will tell of the decree. The LORD said to me, "You are my son. Today I have become your father. ⁸ "Ask of me, and I will make the nations your inheritance, the ends of the earth your possession. ⁹ "You will rule them with an iron scepter. You will dash them to pieces like pottery!" ¹⁰ So then, O kings, be wise. Be warned, O rulers of the earth.

⁴³ You have delivered me from the strifes of the people. You have made me the head of the nations. A people whom I have not known will serve me.

²⁶ "Bless God in the congregations, even the Lord in the assembly of Israel."

³ The floods have lifted up, O LORD, the floods have lifted up their voice; the floods lift up their pounding waves. ⁴ Mightier than the rumblings of many waters, mightier than the mighty breakers of the sea, the LORD on high is mighty.

¹¹ They shall speak of the glory of Your kingdom, and talk of Your might; ¹² To make known to the children of men his mighty acts, and the glorious splendour of his kingdom. ¹³ Your kingdom is an everlasting kingdom. Your dominion endures throughout all generations. the LORD is faithful in all his words, and loving in all his deeds.

¹⁶ Should your springs overflow in the streets, streams of water in the public squares? ¹⁷ Let them be yours alone. Do not share with strangers. ¹⁸ May your fountain be blessed, and rejoice in the wife of your youth.

² In the last days the mountain of the house of the LORD will be established as the highest of the mountains and exalted above the hills. All the nations will stream to it.

⁷ Of the increase of his government and peace there will be no end. He will reign on David's throne and over his kingdom. He will establish and uphold it with justice and righteousness from that time on and forever. The zeal of the LORD Almighty will accomplish this.

¹ Hear this, house of Jacob, who are called by the name of Israel and came out from the waters of Judah, who swear by the name of the LORD, and invoke the God of Israel, but not in truth and not in righteousness.

¹³ O you who live by many waters, rich in treasures, your end has come, the measure of your unjust gain.

⁴⁴ “In the days of those kings the God of heaven will set up a kingdom which will never be destroyed, nor will its sovereignty be left to another people; but it will break in pieces and consume all these kingdoms, and it will stand forever.

⁴⁹ Nathanael answered him, Rabbi, you are the Son of God; you are the King of Israel.

¹⁰ that at the name of Jesus every knee should bow, in heaven and on earth and under the earth, ¹¹ and every tongue confess that Jesus Christ is Lord, to the glory of God the Father.

¹⁵ Then the seventh angel sounded his trumpet, and there were loud voices in heaven, saying, "The kingdom of the world has become the kingdom of our Lord and of his Christ, and he will reign for ever and ever."

¹ Then one of the seven angels with the seven bowls came and told me, “Come, I will show you the punishment of the great prostitute, who sits on many waters.

¹⁵ He said to me, "The waters which you saw, where the prostitute sits, are peoples, multitudes, nations, and languages.

¹⁶ and on his robe and on his thigh he has this name written-- 'KING OF KINGS AND LORD OF LORDS.'

⁹ Only, do not rebel against the LORD. And you, do not fear the people of the land, for they are our bread; their defense has turned away from them; and the LORD is with us; do not be afraid of them.

⁵ The people spoke against God and against Moses, "Why have you brought us from Egypt to die in the desert? There is no food and no water, and our hearts detest this miserable food."

²² God brought them out of Egypt; he has as it were the strength of a wild ox.

²⁴ Look! the people will rise like the lion; he raises himself and will not lie down until he eats the prey and drinks the blood of the slain."

¹ "When the LORD your God brings you into the land that you are entering to possess, he will drive out many nations before you: the Hittites, Girgashites, Amorites, Canaanites, Perizzites, Hivites, and Jebusites, seven nations who are more numerous and stronger than you.

²³ I will heap evils upon them, and will spend my arrows among them.

⁴² I will make my arrows drunk with blood, and my sword shall devour flesh, of the blood of the slain and of the captivity, of the bare head of the enemies.

⁹ "You will rule them with an iron scepter. You will dash them to pieces like pottery!"

¹² For you will make them turn their back, when you aim drawn bows at their face.

⁵ your arrows are sharp in the heart of the king's enemies; whereby the people fall under you.

¹³ I leveled my soul until morning. Like a lion, so He shatters all my bones. From day until night You make an end of me.

⁹ Indeed, I'm going to stir up and bring against Babylon a great company of nations from the land of the north. They'll deploy for battle against her, and from there she will be captured. Their arrows will be like a skilled warrior; they won't miss their targets.

¹⁷ "The people of Israel are like scattered sheep that lions have chased. The first to devour them was the king of Assyria. The last to gnaw at their bones was King Nebuchadnezzar of Babylon.

²⁴ Then the king gave orders to bring those men who had tried to have Daniel devoured, and they threw them, their children, and their wives into the lions' pit. They had not reached the floor of the pit before the lions had overtaken them and crushed all their bones.

³ And I will bless those who bless you, and those who curse you I will curse. And all families of the earth will be blessed in you."

²⁹ Let peoples serve you, and nations bow down to you; Be lord of your brothers, and may the sons of your mother bow down to you. Cursed be those cursing you, and blessed be those blessing you."

⁹ Judah is a lion's whelp. My son, you have risen up from the prey; he stoops, he crouches like a lion; and like a lioness, who can rouse him?

³⁹ "Do you hunt the prey for the lioness and satisfy the hunger of the lions ⁴⁰ when they crouch in their dens or lie in wait in a thicket?

¹⁰ "No one is as fierce that he would dare stir him up. Who then is able to stand against me?

¹² Kiss the Son, lest he be angry and you be destroyed in your way, for his wrath can flare up in a moment. Blessed (happy) are all who take refuge (put trust) in him.

⁶ Pray for the peace of Jerusalem: "May those who love you be at ease.

⁴⁰ And the King will reply, ‘Truly I tell you, whatever you did for one of the least of these brothers of Mine, you did for Me.’

⁴⁵ Then the King will answer, ‘Truly I tell you, whatever you did not do for one of the least of these, you did not do for Me.’

⁵ “Who are You, Lord?” Saul asked. “I am Jesus, whom you are persecuting,” He replied.

⁶ Now, please go, curse this people for me because they are stronger than me; perhaps I will be able to strike them and drive them out from the land because I know whoever you bless is blessed, and whoever you cursed is cursed."

¹¹ 'Behold, the people that has come out of Egypt covers the surface of the earth. Now, come curse them for me. Perhaps I shall be able to fight against them, and shall drive them out.'”

¹⁷ because I will surely honor you greatly, and all that you say to me I will do. Please, come; curse this people for me.'"

¹¹ Balak responded to Balaam: "What have you done to me? I brought you here to curse my enemies, but all you have done is bless them!"

⁴ Because they gave you no bread or water on your way, when you came out of Egypt: and they got Balaam, the son of Peor, from Pethor in Aram-naharaim to put curses on you. ⁵ But the LORD your God would not listen to Balaam, but the LORD your God turned the curse to a blessing to you, because the LORD your God loved you.

⁹ Then Balak, the son of Zippor, king of Moab, went up to war against Israel; and he sent for Balaam, the son of Beor, to put a curse on you: ¹⁰ But I would not listen to Balaam; therefore he blessed you still: so I delivered you out of his hand.

² because they did not meet the Israelites with bread and water; but hired Balaam against them to curse them; but our God turned the curse into a blessing.

²³ It claps its hands over him, and it hisses at him from its place.

¹⁴ You therefore, son of man, prophesy, and strike your hands together, and let the sword strike twice, even the third time, the sword of the slain: it is the sword of the great men that are slain, which enters into their private chambers.

¹⁷ I will also strike my hands together, and I will cause my wrath to rest: I, the LORD, have spoken it."

¹³ And behold, I have struck My palm against your unjust gain which you have made, and at your blood which has been in your midst.

³⁷ And Balak said to Balaam, "Did I not urgently send to meet with you? Why did you not come to me? Am I really not able to honor you?"

²⁸ Jesus said to them, "Truly I say to you, at the renewal of all things, when the Son of Man sits on his glorious throne, you who have followed me will also sit on twelve thrones, judging the twelve tribes of Israel. ²⁹ And everyone who has left houses or brothers or sisters or father or mother or wife or children or fields on account of my name will receive a hundred times as much, and will inherit eternal life. ³⁰ "But many who are first shall be last, and many who are last shall be first.

²⁰ But Peter replied, “May your silver perish with you, because you thought you could buy the gift of God with money!

⁸ More than that, I count all things as loss compared to the surpassing excellence of knowing Christ Jesus my Lord, for whom I have lost all things. I consider them rubbish, that I may gain Christ

²⁴ By faith Moses, when he had grown up, refused to be known as a son of Pharaoh's daughter, ²⁵ He chose to share the bad treatment with the people of God, rather than enjoy the pleasures of sin for a season. ²⁶ He thought that being insulted for the sake of the Messiah was of greater value than the treasures of Egypt, because he was looking ahead to his reward.

² Be shepherds of God's flock that is among you, watching over it, not because you must but because you want to, and not greedily but eagerly, as God desires. ³ not lording it over those entrusted to you, but being examples to the flock.

⁸ Watch yourselves, that you do not lose what you have worked for, but that you may receive a full reward.

¹⁸ Balaam answered Balak's servants: "Even if Balak gave me his palace filled with silver and gold, I could not disobey the command of the LORD my God no matter whether the request was important or not.

³⁸ Balaam said to Balak, "Look, I came to you now. Am I really able to speak anything at all? I speak the word that God puts in my mouth."

²⁸ Moses said: "This is how you will know that the LORD sent me to do all these things and that it wasn’t my idea:

¹ Then Jacob called his sons and said, "Gather together so that I can tell you what will happen with you in days to come.

¹⁷ I see him, but not now. I see him, but not near. A star will come out of Jacob. A scepter will rise out of Israel, and shall strike through the corners of Moab, and crush all the sons of Sheth.

⁷ They fought against Midian, as the LORD commanded Moses. They killed every male. ⁸ They killed the kings of Midian with the rest of their slain: Evi, Rekem, Zur, Hur, and Reba, the five kings of Midian. They also killed Balaam the son of Beor with the sword. ⁹ The Israelites took the Midianite women and children as prisoners of war. They also took all their animals, their livestock, and their valuables as loot. ¹⁰ They burned the cities where the Midianites lived and all their settlements. ¹¹ They took everything as loot including all the people and animals, ¹² They brought the captives, the war-booty, and the plunder to Moses, and to Eleazar the priest, and to the community of the Israelites, to the camp to the desert-plateau of Moab, which was on the Jordan across Jericho. ¹³ And Moses and Eleazar the priest and all the leaders of the community went out to meet them outside the camp. ¹⁴ And Moses was angry with the officers of the army, the captains over thousands and captains over hundreds, who came from the battle. ¹⁵ and said unto them, "Have ye saved the women alive? ¹⁶ Lo, these, through the counsel of Balaam, caused the children of Israel to commit sin against the LORD in the matter of Peor, and there was a plague on the assembly of the LORD. ¹⁷ "So kill all the Midianite boys and every Midianite woman who has gone to bed with a man. ¹⁸ "But keep alive for yourselves every girl who has never gone to bed with a man.

²² And they will be gathered in a gathering, like a prisoner in a pit. And they will be shut in a prison and be punished after many days.

⁴⁷ Yet I will restore the fortunes of Moab in the last of the days," declares the LORD. Thus far is the judgment of Moab.

³⁹ "'Afterward, I will return the captives of Elam,'" declares the LORD.

²⁸ But there is a God in Heaven who reveals secrets and makes known to King Nebuchadnezzar what shall be in the latter days. Your dream, and the visions of your head upon your bed are these.

¹⁴ "Now I have come to make you understand what will happen to your people in the future for the vision is yet for many days."

⁵ Afterward the children of Israel shall return, and seek the LORD their God, and David their king, and shall come with trembling to the LORD and to his blessings in the last days.

⁵ My people, remember, I pray, what Balak, king of Moab, counseled, and what Balaam, son of Beor, answered him, from Shittim unto Gilgal, that you may know the righteousness of the LORD."

¹⁷ ‘In the last days, God says, I will pour out My Spirit on all people; your sons and daughters will prophesy, your young men will see visions, your old men will dream dreams.

¹ Mark this, there are hard times coming in the last days.

¹⁰ Do not fear what you are about to suffer. Look, the devil is about to throw some of you into prison to test you, and you will suffer tribulation for ten days. Be faithful even unto death, and I will give you the crown of life.

³ and he took up his parable, and said,—The oracle of Balaam, son of Beor, Yea the oracle of the man, of opened eye; ⁴ The oracle of him who hears the words of God and who sees the vision of the Almighty. Falling down, yet having his eyes open.

¹ And Job continued his parable and said,

³⁵ So was fulfilled what was spoken through the prophet: “I will open My mouth in parables; I will utter things hidden since the foundation of the world.”

¹ Now, these, are the last words of David,—The oracle of David, son of Jesse, Yea the oracle of The man raised up on high, The Anointed of the God of Jacob, the Delight of the Songs of Israel: ² "The Spirit of the LORD spoke through me. His word was on my tongue.

¹ Now about food sacrificed to idols: We know that we all have knowledge. Knowledge puffs up, but love builds up.

² If I have the gift of prophecy and can fathom all mysteries and all knowledge, and if I have absolute faith so as to move mountains, but have not love, I am nothing.

²⁵ Adam had intercourse with his wife again, and she gave birth to a son and named him Seth. She said: "God has granted me another child in place of Abel, since Cain killed him." ²⁶ Seth also had a son, and he named him Enosh. At that time men began to call on (proclaim) the name of the LORD.

³ When Adam had lived one hundred and thirty years, he had a son in his own likeness, in his own image; and he named him Seth. ⁴ After Seth was born, Adam lived eight hundred years and had other sons and daughters. ⁵ Adam lived a total of 930 years and then died. ⁶ When Seth had lived 105 years, he fathered Enosh. ⁷ After he fathered Enosh, Seth lived 807 years, fathering other sons and daughters. ⁸ Seth lived a total of 912 years and then died. ⁹ When Enosh had lived 90 years, he fathered Kenan. ¹⁰ After he fathered Kenan, Enosh lived 815 years, fathering other sons and daughters. ¹¹ Enosh lived a total of 905 years and then died. ¹² When Kenan had lived 70 years, he fathered Mahalalel. ¹³ After he fathered Mahalalel, Kenan lived 840 years, fathering other sons and daughters. ¹⁴ Altogether, Kenan lived nine hundred and ten years, and then he died. ¹⁵ When Mahalalel lived sixty-five years, he became the father of Jared. ¹⁶ After he fathered Jared, Mahalalel lived 830 years, fathering other sons and daughters. ¹⁷ Mahalalel lived a total of 895 years and then died. ¹⁸ When Jared had lived 162 years, he fathered Enoch. ¹⁹ After he became the father of Enoch, Jared lived eight hundred years and had other sons and daughters. ²⁰ Jared lived a total of 962 years and then died. ²¹ When Enoch lived sixty-five years, he became the father of Methuselah. ²² After he became the father of Methuselah, Enoch walked with God three hundred years and had other sons and daughters. ²³ Enoch lived a total of 365 years. ²⁴ Enoch walked with God. Then he was no more, because God took (moved) him away. ²⁵ When Methuselah had lived 187 years, he fathered Lamech. ²⁶ After he fathered Lamech, Methuselah lived 782 years, fathering other sons and daughters. ²⁷ Methuselah lived a total of 969 years and then died. ²⁸ When Lamech had lived 182 years, he fathered a son ²⁹ He named him Noah. He said: "He will comfort us in the labor and painful toil of our hands caused by the ground the LORD has cursed."

¹⁰ The scepter will not depart from Judah, nor the ruler's staff from between his feet, until he comes to whom it belongs. To him will the obedience of the peoples be.

²⁹ Woe to you, Moab! You are undone, O people of Chemosh! He has given his sons as fugitives and his daughters into captivity, to Sihon king of the Amorites.

³⁸ Saul said, Come here, all you chiefs of the people and let us find out which of us has sinned today.

² He struck Moab, and measured them with the line, making them to lie down on the ground; and he measured two lines to put to death, and one full line to keep alive. The Moabites became servants to David, and brought tribute.

⁵ After Ahab died, the king of Moab rebelled against the king of Israel.

²⁶ When the king of Moab saw that the battle was too severe for him, he took with him seven hundred men who drew sword, to break through to the king of Edom; but they could not. ²⁷ He took his firstborn son who was to become king in his place and offered him as a burnt offering on the wall. Great wrath came upon Israel, and they withdrew from him and returned to the land.

² He defeated Moab; and the Moabites became servants to David, and brought tribute.

²⁵ But as for me, I know that my Redeemer lives. In the end, he will stand upon the earth. ²⁶ Even after my skin has been destroyed, clothed in my flesh I will see God, ²⁷ "I will see him with my own eyes, not with someone else's. My heart fails inside me!

⁶ Your throne, O God, is forever and ever. A scepter of uprightness is the scepter of your kingdom.

⁸ He shall also rule from sea to sea, and from the River to the ends of the earth. ⁹ The dwellers in the desert shall bow before him, and his enemies shall lick the dust. ¹⁰ The kings of Tarshish and of the isles will bring tribute (presents). The kings of Sheba and Seba will offer gifts. ¹¹ Yes, all kings will bow down before him. All nations will serve him.

⁷⁰ He also chose David his servant, and took him from the sheepfolds; ⁷¹ From following the suckling-ewes, he brought him to feed Jacob his people, and Israel his inheritance. ⁷² David shepherded them with a devoted heart, and led them with skillful hands.

² the LORD will send out your mighty scepter from Zion; rule in the midst of your enemies.

¹ Surely in a night Ar of Moab is devastated and ruined. Certainly in a night Kir of Moab is devastated and ruined. ² They have gone up to the temple and to Dibon, to the high places to weep. Moab wails over Nebo and Medeba. Everyone's head is bald and every beard is cut off. ³ In its streets they are girded with sack-cloth, on its roofs, and in its public places every one shall wail, groan with weeping. ⁴ Heshbon and Elealeh cry out. Their voice is heard all the way to Jahaz. Therefore the armed men of Moab cry aloud and tremble with fear. ⁵ My heart cries out for Moab! Her nobles flee to Zoar, to Eglath Shelishiyah; for they go up by the ascent of Luhith with weeping; for on the way to Horonaim, they raise up a cry of destruction. ⁶ The waters of Nimrim were dried up, the grass was withered, and the herbs destroyed, and the green things gone. ⁷ So the abundance they worked and what they mustered they bear away to the wadi of the willows. ⁸ For the cry has gone around the borders of Moab; its wailing as far as Eglaim, and its wailing as far as Beer Elim. ⁹ Dimon's waters are full of blood. I will bring still more upon Dimon, a lion upon the fugitives of Moab and upon those who remain in the land.

¹ Send lambs as tribute to the ruler of the land, from Sela, across the desert, to the mountain of the Daughter of Zion. ² Like fluttering birds pushed from the nest, so are the women of Moab at the fords of the Arnon River. ³ "Give us counsel and render a decision. Make your shadow like night at high noon. Hide the fugitives! Do not betray the refugees. ⁴ "Let the Moabite fugitives stay with you. Be their shelter from the destroyer. The oppressor will come to an end. Destruction will cease! For the aggressor will vanish from the land. ⁵ A throne will be established in loving kindness. One will sit on it in truth, in the tent of David, judging, seeking justice, and swift to do righteousness. ⁶ We have heard of the pride of Moab—exceedingly proud— of his arrogance, pride, and insolence; ⌊his boasting is not true⌋. ⁷ The Moabites cry, they cry out together for Moab. Lament and grieve for the men and the raisin cakes of Kir Hareseth. ⁸ The fields of Heshbon and the vines of Sibmah wither. The rulers of the nations have trampled down the choicest vines, which once reached Jazer and spread toward the desert. Their shoots spread out and went as far as the sea. ⁹ So I weep, as Jazer weeps, for the vines of Sibmah. O Heshbon, O Elealeh, I drench you with tears! The shouts of joy over your ripened fruit and over your harvests have been stilled. ¹⁰ Joy and gladness are taken away from the orchards. No one sings or shouts in the vineyards! No one treads out wine at the presses, for I have put an end to the shouting. ¹¹ That is why my heart mourns for Moab like a harp. I mourn for Kir Hareseth. ¹² And when Moab goes up to the high place, and makes prayer in the house of his god, it will have no effect. ¹³ This is the word Yah Veh words ever since concerning Moab. ¹⁴ But now the LORD has spoken, saying, "Within three years, as a worker bound by contract would count them, the glory of Moab shall be brought into contempt, with all his great multitude; and the remnant will be very small and feeble."

⁴⁵ "In the shadow of Heshbon fugitives stand without strength, for a fire has gone out from Heshbon, and a flame from Sihon. And it has eaten the forehead of Moab, and the skulls of the people of tumult.

⁴ From him will come the cornerstone, from him the nail, from him the battle bow, from him every ruler together.

¹⁰ I will pour on the house of David, and on the inhabitants of Jerusalem, the spirit of grace and of supplication; and they will look to Me whom they have pierced; and they shall mourn for him, as one mourns for his only son, and will grieve bitterly for him, as one grieves for his firstborn.

² and asked, "Where is the one who was born king of the Jews? We saw his star in the east and have come to worship him." ³ When King Herod heard this, he was disturbed, and all Jerusalem with him. ⁴ So he called together all the high priests and scribes of the people and asked them where the Christ was to be born. ⁵ “In Bethlehem in Judea,” they replied, “for this is what the prophet has written: ⁶ 'But you, Bethlehem, in the land of Judah, are by no means least among the rulers of Judah; for out of you shall come a ruler who will be the shepherd of my people Israel.'" ⁷ Then Herod called the Magi secretly and learned from them the exact time the star had appeared. ⁸ He also sent them to Bethlehem, telling them, "Go and make a careful search for the child, and when you have found him report to me, so that I may go and worship him too." ⁹ After they had heard the king, they went on their way, and the star they had seen in the east went ahead of them until it stood over the place where the Child was.

³² He will be great and will be called the Son of the Most High. The Lord God will give him the throne of his father David, ³³ and He will reign over the house of Jacob forever. His kingdom will never end!”

⁷⁸ because of the tender mercy of our God, by which the Dawn will visit us from on high,

⁸ But about the Son He says: “Your throne, O God, will last forever and ever, and righteousness will be the scepter of Your kingdom.

¹⁹ And we have the prophetic word made more sure, and you will do well to pay attention to this as to a lamp shining in a dark place, until the day dawns and the morning star rises in your hearts.

¹¹ Woe to them! They have traveled the path of Cain; they have rushed headlong into the error of Balaam; they have perished in Korah’s rebellion.

¹⁴ Enoch, the seventh from Adam, prophesied about these, saying: "Behold, the LORD came with many thousands of his holy ones. ¹⁵ to execute judgment on all, and to convict all the ungodly of all their ungodly deeds which they have done in an ungodly way, and of all the harsh things which ungodly sinners have spoken against him."

⁷ Behold, He is coming with the clouds, and every eye will see Him—even those who pierced Him. And all the tribes of the earth will mourn because of Him. So shall it be! Amen.

¹⁶ "I, Jesus, have sent my angel to give you this testimony for the churches. I am the Root and the Offspring of David, the bright Morning Star."

⁴⁰ You will live by your sword, and you will serve your brother. It will happen, when you will break loose, that you will shake his yoke from off your neck.”

³ Jacob sent messengers ahead of him to his brother Esau in Seir, the country of Edom.

¹⁴ He erected garrisons throughout Edom, and all the Edomites became subservient to David, while the LORD gave victory to David wherever he went.

¹ For the Chief Musician. To the tune of The Lily of the Covenant. A teaching poem by David, when he fought with Aram Naharaim and with Aram Zobah, and Joab returned, and killed twelve thousand of Edom in the Valley of Salt. God, You have rejected us. You have broken us down, You have been angry. Restore us again.

⁸ Moab is My washbasin; Unto Edom shall I fling My sandal; Over Philistia shall I shout in triumph. ⁹ Who will bring me to the fortified city? Who will lead me to Edom? ¹⁰ Is it not you O God, who rejected us? You do not go out with our armies, do you God? ¹¹ Give us help against the adversary, for the help of man is vain. ¹² In God we will do strength and he will tread down our adversaries.

⁵ For my sword saturates in the heavens: behold, it descends on Edom and on the people of my devotement to judgment.

¹ Who is this, coming from Edom, from Bozrah in bright red garments? Who is this honored in his garment, lying down in his great strength? "It is I, speaking in justice, mighty to save!"

¹² so that they may possess the remnant of Edom, and all the nations on whom My name is called, declares the LORD who is doing this.

¹ Why do the nations rage, and the peoples plot in vain? ² The kings of the earth take their stand and the rulers gather together against the LORD and against his Anointed One. ³ "Let us break their bands asunder and throw off from us their yoke." ⁴ The One who dwells in heaven laughs. the LORD scoffs at them. ⁵ Then he rebukes them in his anger and terrifies them in his rage (fury). He says: ⁶ "But I myself have installed my king on Zion, my holy hill." ⁷ I will tell of the decree. The LORD said to me, "You are my son. Today I have become your father. ⁸ "Ask of me, and I will make the nations your inheritance, the ends of the earth your possession. ⁹ "You will rule them with an iron scepter. You will dash them to pieces like pottery!" ¹⁰ So then, O kings, be wise. Be warned, O rulers of the earth. ¹¹ Serve the LORD with fear, and rejoice with trembling. ¹² Kiss the Son, lest he be angry and you be destroyed in your way, for his wrath can flare up in a moment. Blessed (happy) are all who take refuge (put trust) in him.

⁷ For the king trusts in the LORD, and in the mercy of the Most High; he will not be shaken. ⁸ Your hand will find all your enemies, your right hand will find those who hate you. ⁹ When you appear, you will set them ablaze like a fire furnace. In his wrath, the LORD will consume them, and the fire will devour them. ¹⁰ You will destroy their descendants from the earth, their posterity from among the children of men.

¹⁰ In that day the root of Jesse, who standeth for an ensign of the people, him the Gentiles shall beseech, and his sepulchre shall be glorious.

² But you, Bethlehem Ephrathah, being small among the clans of Judah, out of you one will come out to me that is to be ruler in Israel; whose goings out are from of old, from ancient times.

⁴ And he will stand and shepherd his flock in the strength of the LORD, in the majesty of the name of the LORD his God. And they will live, for now he will be great unto the ends of the earth.

⁴⁶ And they will go away into eternal punishment, but the righteous into eternal life."

¹⁸ Then Jesus came to them and said, “All authority in heaven and on earth has been given to Me.

¹² So He said, “A man of noble birth went to a distant country to lay claim to his kingship and then return.

²⁷ But those enemies of mine, who did not want me to reign over them, bring them here and slay them before me.'"

²⁵ For he must reign until he has put all his enemies under his feet.

²⁰ which He exerted in Christ when He raised Him from the dead and seated Him at His right hand in the heavenly realms, ²¹ far above all rule and authority, power and dominion, and every name that is named, not only in this age, but also in the one to come. ²² And he subordinated all things under his feet, and appointed him head over all things for the church,

²² who has gone to heaven and is at God's right hand, with angels, hierarchies, and powers made subject to him.

⁸ Then the Amalekites came and fought with the Israelites at Rephidim.

¹⁴ Then the Lord said to Moses, Write this in a book to keep it in remembrance; and rehearse it in the hearing of Joshua, that I will entirely blot out the remembrance of Amalek from under heaven.

¹⁶ He said, "A hand upon the throne of the LORD. The LORD will have war with Amalek from generation to generation.'"

³ When the Israelites planted their crops, the Midianites and the Amalekites along with the desert tribes attacked them.

⁴⁸ He fought valiantly and defeated the Amalekites, and delivered Israel out of the hands of those who plundered them.

³ Now, go and attack Amalek. Completely destroy all that they have. Don't spare them, but put to death both man and woman, child and infant, both ox and sheep, camel and donkey.'" ⁴ Saul summoned the army and mustered them at Telaim; two hundred thousand foot soldiers and ten thousand men of Judah. ⁵ Saul came to the city of Amalek, and set an ambush in the valley. ⁶ Saul said to the Kenites, Go away from among the Amalekites so that I don't destroy you with them, for you showed kindness to all the Israelites when they came up out of Egypt. So the Kenites departed from among the Amalekites. ⁷ Saul attacked the Amalekites from Havilah to Shur, which is east of Egypt. ⁸ He took Agag the king of the Amalekites alive, and utterly destroyed all the people.

⁸ David and his men raided the Geshurites, the Girzites, and the Amalekites. Their territory extends from Telaim to Shur and Egypt. ⁹ David attacked the territory and left no man or woman alive. He also took sheep, cattle, donkeys, camels, and clothing and returned to Achish.

¹ When David and his men came to Ziklag on the third day, the Amalekites had raided the Negev and Ziklag. They had attacked Ziklag and set it on fire.

¹⁷ David fought them from twilight to the evening of the next day. Not a man of them escaped except four hundred young men who rode on camels and fled.

⁴³ They killed the remaining Amalekites who had escaped, and they have lived there to this day.

¹ After these things king Xerxes magnified Haman son of Hammedatha the Agagite; he advanced him and put his covered seat above all the other chief officials who were with him.

⁹ Then Harbonah, one of the eunuchs attending the king, observed, "Look there! A pole is standing 75 feet high at Haman's house that he prepared for Mordecai, whose report benefited the king!" The king said, "Hang him on it." ¹⁰ Then they hanged Haman on the gallows that he had prepared for Mordecai. And the king's fury subsided.

¹⁴ So the king ordered it to be done in this way; an edict was issued in Susa, and they hanged the ten sons of Haman.

¹⁹ the land of the Kenites, the Kenizzites, the Kadmonites,

¹⁶ And the sons of the Kenite, father-in-law of Moses, went up from the city of palm-trees with the sons of Judah to the desert of Judah, which is in the south of Arad; and he went up and dwelt with the people:

¹⁸ Then I said, 'I will die in my own house, I will count my days as the sand.

¹¹ From that land he went to Assyria, where he built Nineveh, Rehoboth-Ir, Calah,

²² The sons of Shem: Elam, Asshur, Arphaxad, Lud, and Aram.

² they came to Zorobabel and to the chiefs of the families, and said, Let us build with you, for we, like you, seek our God, and we sacrifice to him, from the days of Asaradan, king of Assur, who brought us here.

⁸ Even Assyria joined them to strengthen the descendants of Lot. [Interlude]

³ Assyria shall not save us; we will not ride on horses. We shall not say any more to the work of our hands, Our gods! For in You the fatherless finds mercy.

¹ Now Naaman, captain of the army of the king of Syria, was a great man with his master and honorable, because by him the LORD had given victory to Syria. He was also a mighty man of valor, but he was a leper.

² "But who can endure the day of his coming? And who will stand when he appears? For he is like a refiner's fire, and like launderer's soap;

⁴ The sons of Javan: Elishah, Tarshish, Kittim, and Rodanim.

²¹ Sons were also born to Shem, whose older brother was Japheth. Shem was the ancestor of all the sons of Eber. ²² The sons of Shem: Elam, Asshur, Arphaxad, Lud, and Aram. ²³ The sons of Aram: Uz, Hul, Gether, and Meshech. ²⁴ Arpachshad was the father of Shelah, and Shelah the father of Eber. ²⁵ Two sons were born to Eber. One was named Peleg, because in his time the earth was divided. His brother was named Joktan.

¹³ Then one who escaped came and told Abram the Hebrew. And he was living at the oaks of Mamre the Amorite, brother of Eshcol and brother of Aner. They were allies with Abram.

²⁰ And he looked at Amalek, uttered his oracle, and said, "Amalek is first of the nations, but his future will be forever ruin."

¹ Wail, O ships of Tarshish! For Tyre is destroyed and left without house or harbor. From the land of Cyprus (Kittim) word has come to them.

³⁵ Then the iron, the clay, the bronze, the silver, and the gold were broken in pieces together and became like chaff from a summer threshing floor that the breeze carries away without leaving a trace. Then the rock that struck the statue grew into a huge mountain and filled the entire earth.

⁴⁵ »You saw a stone cut out of the mountain without hands. It broke the iron, brass, clay, silver, and the gold to pieces. The great God made known to the king what will happen in the future. The dream is certain, and the interpretation of it is sure.«

¹⁹ Then I wanted to know the truth of the fourth beast, which was different from all the others, very frightening, whose teeth were of iron, and his nails of bronze; who devoured, broke in pieces, and stamped the rest with his feet; ²⁰ And concerning the ten horns that were on its head, and the other horn which came up, and before which three fell, even that horn that had eyes, and a mouth that spoke arrogant things, whose look was larger than the others.

²³ "And he said, 'The fourth beast is the fourth kingdom that will be on the earth that will be different from all the other kingdoms, and it will devour the whole earth and it will trample it and it will crush it. ²⁴ '"The ten horns are ten kings that will arise out of this kingdom! Another will arise after them. He will be different from the former, and he will subdue three kings. ²⁵ He'll speak out against the Most High and wear down the saints of the Highest One. He'll attempt to alter times and laws, and they'll be given into his control for a time, times, and half a time. ²⁶ Then the court will sit, and his dominion will be removed, to be eradicated and to be destroyed totally.

⁵ And I was considering, and, behold, a he-goat came from the south-west on the face of the whole earth, and touched not the earth: and the goat had a horn between his eyes. ⁶ It approached the ram with the two horns that I had observed while standing beside the canal, and charged at him, out of control with rage. ⁷ I saw him come close to the ram. He was driven with anger and he struck the ram and broke his two horns. The ram had no power to stand before him. He threw him down to the ground, and trampled upon him. No one could deliver the ram out of his hand. ⁸ The male goat became very strong. But when he was strong, the large horn was broken; and instead of it there came up four prominent horns toward the four winds of heaven.

²¹ And the shaggy goat is the king of Greece. And the great horn between his eyes is the first king.

²⁶ After the sixty-two weeks the Anointed One will be cut off, and will have nothing. The people of the prince who come will destroy the city and the sanctuary. Its end will be with a flood, and war will be even to the end. Desolations are determined. ²⁷ And he shall confirm a covenant with the many for one week. And in the middle of the week he shall cause the sacrifice and the offering to cease. And on a wing of the altar will be abominations that desolate, even until the end. And that which was decreed shall pour out on the desolator.

²⁰ Then he said, “Do you know why I have come to you? Now I will return to fight with the prince of Persia. When I go out, behold, the prince of Greece will come.

³⁰ For the Kittim ships will come against him. And he will be grieved and turn back and be furious against the holy covenant. And he will act, and he will return and heed the forsakers of the holy covenant.

⁴⁵ And he shall pitch his royal tents between the sea and the beautiful holy mountain. Yet he shall come to his end, with no one to help him.

²⁴ "Show me a florin. Whose head and title are on it?"

²⁹ Look, the days are coming when people will say, ‘Blessed are the barren women, the wombs that never bore, and breasts that never nursed.’ ³⁰ "Then they will say to the mountains fall on us and to the hills cover us. ³¹ For if men do these things while the tree is green, what will happen when it is dry?”

⁴⁸ If we let Him go on like this, everyone will believe in Him, and then the Romans will come and take away both our place and our nation.”

² And he called out with a mighty voice, "Fallen, fallen is Babylon the great! She has become a dwelling place of demons, a haunt of every unclean spirit, a haunt of every unclean and hateful bird. ³ For all nations have drunk of the wine of the wrath of her adulteries, and the kings of the earth have committed adultery with her, and the merchants of the earth have grown rich with her excessive luxuries. ⁴ Then I heard another voice from heaven say: “Come out of her, my people, so that you will not share in her sins or contract any of her plagues. ⁵ For her sins are piled up to the sky, and God has remembered her crimes. ⁶ Give back to her as she has done to others; pay her back double for what she has done; mix her a double portion in her own cup. ⁷ give her torment and pain in proportion to her pride and luxury; for she said in her heart, "I am enthron'd like a queen, I am no widow, and shall see no sorrow." ⁸ Therefore in one day her plagues will come, pestilence and mourning and famine, and she will be burned with fire; for mighty is the Lord God who judges her. ⁹ "The kings of the earth who have committed lewdness with her and have reveled luxuriously, when they see the smoke of her burning, will wail and beat their breasts. ¹⁰ for fear of her torture they will stand far off, crying, 'Woe and alas, thou great city! thou strong city of Babylon! In one brief hour thy doom has come.' ¹¹ And the merchants of the earth weep and mourn over her, because no one buys their cargoes any more ¹² cargoes of gold, silver, precious stones and pearls; fine linen, purple, silk and scarlet cloth; every sort of citron wood, and articles of every kind made of ivory, costly wood, bronze, iron and marble; ¹³ cargoes of cinnamon and spice, of incense, myrrh and frankincense, of wine and olive oil, of fine flour and wheat; cattle and sheep; horses and chariots; and slaves and human souls. ¹⁴ The fruit you longed for has gone from you, and all your riches and splendor have vanished, never to be recovered. ¹⁵ The merchants who sold these things and grew their wealth from her will stand at a distance, in fear of her torment. They will weep and mourn, ¹⁶ and say, 'Alas! Alas for the great city that was dressed in fine linen, purple, and scarlet, and glittered with gold, precious stones, and pearls, ¹⁷ In one hour such great wealth has been laid waste!' And every shipmaster and all passengers and sailors, and all who make their living by the sea, stood far off, ¹⁸ and cried, when they saw the smoke of her burning, saying: What other is like this great city! ¹⁹ Then they will throw dust on their heads as they weep and mourn and cry out: “Woe, woe to the great city, where all who had ships on the sea were enriched by her wealth! For in a single hour she has been destroyed.” ²⁰ Rejoice over her, O heaven, and you saints and apostles and prophets; for God has judged her for what she did to you. ²¹ Then a mighty angel picked up a stone the size of a great millstone and cast it into the sea, saying: “With such violence the great city of Babylon will be cast down, never to be seen again. ²² The sound of harpists and musicians, flute-players, and trumpets will never be heard in you again. No craftsman of any kind will ever be found in you again, no sound of the millstone will ever be heard in you again; ²³ The light of a lamp will never more shine in you. The voices of bridegroom and bride will never again be heard in you. Your merchants were the great ones of the earth; for by your magic arts all the nations were led astray. ²⁴ In her was found the blood of prophets and of saints, and of all who have been slain on the earth."

¹¹ Therefore, run away to your place now. I said: "I will honor you greatly, but the LORD has held you back from honor."

⁸ They killed the kings of Midian with the rest of their slain: Evi, Rekem, Zur, Hur, and Reba, the five kings of Midian. They also killed Balaam the son of Beor with the sword.

²² In addition to their slain, the Israelites killed with the sword Balaam son of Beor, who practiced divination.
