¹ These are the accounts of Aaron and Moses when the LORD spoke with Moses at Mount Sinai. ² These are the names of the sons of Aaron: Nadab the firstborn, and Abihu, Eleazar, and Ithamar. ³ These are the names of Aaron's sons, the anointed priests, who were ordained to serve as priests. ⁴ Nadab and Abihu died in the LORD's presence because they offered unauthorized fire in his presence in the Desert of Sinai. They had no children. So only Eleazar and Ithamar served as priests during the lifetime of their father Aaron. ⁵ the LORD said to Moses: ⁶ Bring the tribe of Levi near and present them to Aaron the priest that they may serve him. ⁷ They shall observe his duties and the duties of the entire community before the tent of assembly, to do the work of the tabernacle. ⁸ They are to take care of the utensils at the tent of meeting and the needs of the Israelites by performing the duties of the tabernacle. ⁹ "Give the Levites to Aaron and his sons. The Levites will be the only Israelites given to them. ¹⁰ "Appoint Aaron and his sons to serve as priests. Anyone else who tries to do the priests' duties must be put to death." ¹¹ the LORD said to Moses: ¹² "I myself receive the Levites from the midst of the Israelites in the place of all the firstborn of the offspring of the womb from the Israelites. The Levites will be mine ¹³ because every firstborn is mine. The day I killed every firstborn male in Egypt, I set apart as holy every firstborn in Israel, whether human or animal. They will be mine. I am the LORD." ¹⁴ the LORD said to Moses in the Desert of Sinai: ¹⁵ "Count the Levites by households and families. Count every male who is at least one month old." ¹⁶ Moses counted them according to Yahweh’s word, as he was commanded. ¹⁷ And these are the names of the children of Levi: Gershon, Kohath, and Merari. ¹⁸ These were the names of the sons of Gershon by their families:Libni and Shimei; ¹⁹ The sons of Kohath by their families: Amram, Izhar, Hebron, and Uzziel. ²⁰ And the sons of Merari by their families: Mahli and Mushi. These are the Levite families according to their fathers' houses. ²¹ To Gershon belonged the clan of the Libnites and the clan of the Shimeites; these are the clans of the Gershonites. ²² The number of all the males a month old and above were 7,500. ²³ The Gershonite families encamped behind the tabernacle westward. ²⁴ and the leader of the family of the Gershonites is Eliasaph son of Lael. ²⁵ And the charge of the sons of Gershon in the tent of meeting was: the tabernacle and the tent, its covering, and the curtain of the entrance to the tent of meeting. ²⁶ the hangings at the courtyard, the curtain to the entrance of the courtyard, which surrounded the tabernacle, the altar and their ropes for all their services. ²⁷ To Kohath are the families of Amram, Izhar, Hebron, and Uzziel. He was assigned overseer over those who take care of the services of the sanctuary. ³³ To Merari belonged the clan of Mahlites and the clan of the Mushites: these are the clans of Merari. ³⁴ The number of all the males a month old and above were 6, 200. ³⁵ The prince of the fathers' house of the families of Merari was Zuriel the son of Abihail. They shall camp on the north side of the tabernacle. ³⁶ It was the duty of the Merarites to be in charge of the framework of the inner tent, the crossbars, posts, sockets, and all the equipment. They took care of these things. ³⁷ They were responsible for the posts for the surrounding courtyard, the bases, pegs, and ropes. ³⁸ Moses, Aaron, and his sons put up their tents on the east side in front of the tent of meeting. They were in charge of the holy place on behalf of the Israelites. Anyone else who tried to do the Levites' duties had to be put to death. ³⁹ All the numbering of the Levites, whom Moses and Aaron numbered by the word of the Lord, according to their families, every male from a month old and upwards, were twenty-two thousand. ⁴⁰ Then the LORD said to Moses: Number all the first-born males of Israel from a month old and above and list their names. ⁴¹ And separate the Levites for me I am the LORD instead of all the first-born sons of Israel and the livestock of the Levites in place of all the first born of the livestock of Israel. ⁴² So Moses mustered all the firstborn among the Israelites just as the LORD commanded him. ⁴³ All of the first-born male according to the list of their names from a month old and above were numbered at 22,273. ⁴⁴ the LORD said to Moses: ⁴⁵ Separate the Levites in place of all the first born sons of Israel and the livestock of the Levites in place of their livestock. The Levites belong to me I am the LORD. ⁴⁶ As to the ransom of the 273 from the first-born sons of Israel, in excess of the Levites, ⁴⁷ Will be five shekels for every one, by the scale of the holy place the shekel is twenty gerahs; ⁴⁸ And give the money, wherewith the odd number of them is redeemed, unto Aaron and his sons." ⁴⁹ So Moses took the redemption money, for those who exceeded the redemption made by the Levites. ⁵⁰ From the first born of the Israelites, Moses took money amounting to 1,365 shekels according to the shekel of the sanctuary. ⁵¹ and Moses gave the redemption money to Aaron and to his sons, according to the LORD’s word, as the LORD commanded Moses.

⁴¹ »Dress your brother Aaron and his sons in these clothes and anoint them, ordain them, and set them apart to serve me as priests.

¹ "This is what you shall do to them to consecrate them to serve me as priests: Take a young bull, two rams without blemish, ² and unleavened bread tempered with oil and unleavened cakes anointed with oil. These thou shalt make of fine flour ³ and put them in a maund and bring them in the maund with the oil and the two rams. ⁴ You shall bring Aaron and his sons to the doorway of the Tent of Meeting, and wash them with water. ⁵ Take the garments and clothe Aaron with the tunic, the robe of the ephod, the ephod, and the breast piece, and then gird him with the skillfully woven band of the ephod. ⁶ And put the turban upon his head, and give the holy diadem upon the turban. ⁷ Then take the oil and put it on his head. ⁸ And bring his sons and put albes upon them, ⁹ And you will gird Aaron and his sons with sashes and wrap headdresses on them. It is a sin offering. ¹⁵ "Take one of the rams and Aaron and his sons are to put their hands on its head. ¹⁶ "Slaughter the ram. Take its blood and sprinkle it all around the altar. ¹⁷ "Cut the ram in pieces. Wash its internal organs and its legs, and put them on top of the head and the other pieces. ¹⁸ You shall burn the whole ram on the altar: it is a burnt offering to the LORD; it is a pleasant aroma, an offering made by fire to the LORD. ¹⁹ Take the other ram and Aaron and his sons are to put their hands on its head. ²⁰ "Kill it and take some of its blood and put it on the lobes of the right ears of Aaron and his sons, on the thumbs of their right hands and on the big toes of their right feet. Sprinkle the rest of the blood all around the altar. ²¹ »Take some of the blood that is on the altar and some of the anointing oil, and sprinkle it on Aaron and his clothes and on his sons and their clothes. He, his sons, and their clothes will then be dedicated to me. ²² And you will take from the ram the fat and the fat tail and the fat covering the inner parts and the lobe of the liver and the two kidneys and the fat that is on them and the right thigh, because it is the ram of ordination. ²³ And one cake made with oil, and one cake from the basket of unleavened bread set forth before the Lord. ²⁴ "Put all this food in the hands of Aaron and his sons and have them dedicate it to me as a special gift. ²⁵ You shall take them from their hands, and burn them on the altar on the burnt offering, for a pleasant aroma before the LORD: it is an offering made by fire to the LORD. ²⁶ "You shall take the breast of the ram of Aaron's ordination, and present it as a wave offering before the LORD, and it shall be your portion. ²⁷ You shall consecrate the portion of the ram of ordination that belongs to Aaron and his sons: the breast of the wave offering that was waved and the thigh of the presented offering that was presented. ²⁸ And it will be for Aaron and for his sons as a lasting rule from the Israelites, because it is a contribution, and it will be a contribution from the Israelites from their sacrifices of fellowship, their contribution to the LORD. ²⁹ "The holy garments of Aaron shall be for his sons after him so that they may be anointed in them and ordained in them. ³⁰ The priest his successor from among his sons who shall go into the tabernacle of witness to minister in the holies, shall put them on seven days. ³¹ And you will take the ram of ordination and boil its meat in a holy place. ³² Aaron and his sons shall eat the meat of the ram, and the bread that is in the basket, at the door of the Tent of Meeting. ³³ "They shall eat those things used for their atonement and their ordination and consecration. A layman shall not eat them, because they are holy. ³⁴ »If any of the flesh of ordination or any of the bread remains until morning it should be burned with fire. It should not be eaten because it is holy. ³⁵ "Do to Aaron and to his sons all that I have commanded you. Ordain them for seven days. ³⁶ »Offer a bull as a sin offering for atonement each day. Purify the altar when you make atonement for it. Anoint it to consecrate it. ³⁷ You shall make atonement for the altar for seven days and consecrate it. It will be most holy, and whatever touches it will be holy."

¹³ »Dress Aaron in the priestly garments and anoint him. Consecrate him so that he can serve me as priest.

¹⁵ "Anoint them just as you anointed their father that they can serve me as priests. This anointing will make them priests for generations to come."

¹ And the Lord said to Moses, ² “Take Aaron and his sons with him, and the garments, and the anointing oil, and the bull of the sin offering, and the two rams, and the basket of unleavened bread; ³ "Gather the entire congregation at the entrance to the Tent of Meeting." ⁴ Moses did as the LORD commanded him. All the people gathered (assembled) at the entrance to the Tent of Meeting. ⁵ And Moses said unto the congregation, This is what the LORD has commanded to be done. ⁶ Then Moses brought Aaron and his sons and washed them with water. ⁷ He put the tunic on him, tied the sash on him, clothed him with the robe, put the ephod on him, and he tied the skillfully woven band of the ephod on him and fastened it to him with it. ⁸ He placed the breastplate on him. He put the Urim and Thummim in the breastplate. ⁹ He set the turban on his head. He set the golden plate, the holy crown, on the front of the turban, as the LORD commanded Moses.

¹² He poured some of the anointing oil on Aaron's head, and anointed him, to sanctify him.

³⁰ Then Moses took some of the anointing oil, and some of the blood which was by the altar, and sprinkled them on Aaron and his robes, and on his sons and their robes with him. And when he had hallowed Aaron and his robes, and his sons and their robes with him,

²⁸ For the Law appoints as high priests men who are weak; but the oath, which came after the Law, appointed the Son, who has been made perfect forever.

¹ And the two sons of Aaron, Nadab and Abihu, each took his censer and put fire in it, and laid incense on it, and offered strange fire before the LORD, which he had not commanded them. ² And fire went out from before the LORD and consumed them; and they died before the LORD.

⁶¹ Yet Nadab and Abihu died when they offered alien fire before the LORD.

²⁶ And Moses stood at the entrance of the camp, and he said, "Whoever is for the LORD, to me." And all the sons of Levi were gathered to him. ²⁷ He said to them, "This is what the LORD, the God of Israel, says, 'Every man put his sword on his thigh, and go back and forth from gate to gate in the camp, and each of you kill his brother and friend and neighbor.'" ²⁸ The Levites did just as Moses told them, and about 3,000 people died that day. ²⁹ Then Moses said, "Fill your hands unto the LORD this day, every man upon his son and upon his brother: to bring upon you a blessing this day."

⁴⁹ "Do not register the tribe of Levi or include them in the census with the other Israelites. ⁵⁰ but appoint the Levites over the Tabernacle of the Testimony, and over all its furnishings, and over all that belongs to it. They shall carry the tabernacle and all its furnishings; and they shall take care of it, and shall encamp around it. ⁵¹ When the tabernacle is to move, the Levites shall take it down; and when the tabernacle is to be set up, the Levites shall set it up. The stranger who comes near shall be put to death. ⁵² The children of Israel are to put up their tents, every man in his tent-circle round his flag. ⁵³ But the Levites must camp around the tabernacle of the testimony so that divine wrath won't fall on the congregation of Israel. The Levites must take care of the tabernacle of the testimony.

¹⁷ Then the tent of meeting with the camp of the Levites will travel in the middle of the camps. They will travel just as they have camped, each as designated under his standard.

³³ The Levites were not counted in the midst of the Israelites, just as the LORD commanded Moses.

⁶ Take the Levites out from among the children of Israel and make them clean. ⁷ You shall do this to them, to cleanse them: sprinkle the water of cleansing on them, let them shave their whole bodies with a razor, let them wash their clothes, and cleanse themselves. ⁸ They take a young bull along with its meal offering of flour mixed with oil. Then you take a second young bull as sin offering. ⁹ "Bring the Levites to the front of the tent of meeting. Assemble the whole congregation of Israel. ¹⁰ And you will bring the Levites before the LORD, and the Israelites will lay their hands on the Levites, ¹¹ "Aaron will present the Levites to the LORD as an offering from the Israelites. Then they will be ready to do the LORD’s work. ¹² And the Levites shall lay their hands upon the heads of the bullocks, and offer thou the one for a sin-offering, and the other for a burnt-offering, to LORD, to make atonement for the Levites. ¹³ "Make the Levites stand in front of Aaron and his sons, and present them as an offering to the LORD. ¹⁴ "In this way you will separate the Levites from the other Israelites. The Levites will be mine. ¹⁵ "Once you have made them clean and presented them as an offering, the Levites may come and do their work at the tent of meeting. ¹⁶ "They will be the only Israelites given to me. I have taken them to be mine as substitutes for every firstborn male offspring of the Israelites. ¹⁷ For all the first-born of the sons of Israel are Mine, both man and animal. On the day that I struck every first-born in the land of Egypt I set them apart for Myself. ¹⁸ And I have taken the Levites instead of all the first-born among the sons of Israel. ¹⁹ And I have given the Levites; they are given to Aaron and his sons from the midst of the Israelites to do the work of the Israelites in the tent of the assembly and to make atonement for the Israelites, so a plague will not be among the Israelites when the Israelites come near the sanctuary." ²⁰ Moses, Aaron, and all the people of Israel dedicated the Levites, as the LORD commanded Moses. ²¹ And the Levites purified themselves, and they washed their garments, and Aaron offered them as a wave offering before the LORD; and Aaron made atonement for them to purify them. ²² After this the Levites came to do their work in the tent of assembly before Aaron and his sons. Just as Yahweh commanded Moses concerning the Levities, so they did to them. ²³ the LORD said to Moses: ²⁴ This is the rule for the Levites: those of twenty-five years old and over are to go in and do the work of the Tent of meeting; ²⁵ but after fifty years of age, they are to be withdrawn from the service, and work no more. ²⁶ "They may assist the other Levites in their duties at the tent of meeting. But they may not do any regular work. This is how you will handle the Levites' duties."

⁹ Is it a small thing to you that the God of Israel has separated you from the congregation of Israel, to bring you near to himself, to do the service of the LORD's tabernacle, and to stand before the congregation to minister to them; ¹⁰ "He brought you and all the other Levites near. But now you demand to be priests. ¹¹ "You and all your followers have joined forces against the LORD! Who is Aaron that you should complain about him?"

¹ The LORD said to Aaron, "You and your sons and your fathers' house with you shall bear the iniquity of the sanctuary; and you and your sons with you shall bear the iniquity of your priesthood. ² "Bring the other Levites from your ancestor’s tribe to join you and help you and your sons serve in front of the tent of the words of my promise. ³ They will keep your responsibility and the responsibility of all the tent, only they may not come near the vessels of the sanctuary and the altar, so both you and they will not die. ⁴ They shall be joined to you and keep the responsibility of the Tent of Meeting, for all the service of the Tent. A stranger shall not come near to you. ⁵ You are to be responsible for the holy place and the altar, so that wrath may never again come on the children of Israel. ⁶ Behold, I myself have taken your brothers the Levites from among the children of Israel. They are a gift to you, dedicated to the LORD, to do the service of the Tent of Meeting. ⁷ You and your sons with you shall keep your priesthood for everything of the altar, and for that within the veil; and you shall serve. I give you the priesthood as a gift, and the stranger who comes near shall be put to death.

⁸ At that time the LORD set apart the tribe of Levi, to bear the ark of the covenant of the LORD, to stand before the LORD to minister to him, and to bless in his name, to this day.

⁸ About Levi he said:May your Thummim and your Urim be for your benign man whom you probed at Massah; you contended with him at the waters of Meribah, ⁹ He said of his father, and of his mother, 'I have not seen him.' He didn't acknowledge his brothers, nor did he know his own children; for they have observed your word, and keep your covenant.

⁴ "Then you will know that I have sent to you this command, that my covenant with Levi continues," says the LORD of hosts.

⁵⁰ but appoint the Levites over the Tabernacle of the Testimony, and over all its furnishings, and over all that belongs to it. They shall carry the tabernacle and all its furnishings; and they shall take care of it, and shall encamp around it.

³² The chief of all the leaders of the Levites was Eleazar, son of Aaron the priest. He was assigned overseer over those who take care of the services of the sanctuary.

¹¹ "Aaron will present the Levites to the LORD as an offering from the Israelites. Then they will be ready to do the LORD’s work.

¹⁵ "Once you have made them clean and presented them as an offering, the Levites may come and do their work at the tent of meeting.

³⁰ "From the sons of Israel’s half, you shall take one drawn out of every fifty of the persons, of the cattle, of the donkeys and of the sheep, from all the animals, and give them to the Levites who keep charge of the tabernacle of the LORD."

²⁸ The duty of the Levites was to help Aaron's descendants in the service of the Temple of the LORD: to be in charge of the courtyards, the side rooms, the purification of all sacred things and the performance of other duties at the House of God. ²⁹ They were in charge of the bread set out on the table, the flour for the grain offerings, the unleavened wafers, the baking and the mixing, and all measurements of quantity and size. ³⁰ They were also to stand every morning to thank and praise the LORD. They were to do the same in the evening ³¹ and whenever burnt offerings were presented to the LORD on Sabbaths and at New Moon festivals and at appointed feasts. They were to serve before the LORD regularly in the proper number and in the way prescribed for them. ³² So the Levites carried out their responsibilities for the Tent of Meeting, for the Holy Place and, under their brothers the descendants of Aaron, for the service of the Temple of the LORD.

²⁰ Their fellow Levites were in charge of the treasuries of the house of God and the treasuries for the dedicated things.

²² the sons of Jehieli, Zetham and his brother Joel. They were in charge of the treasuries of the temple of the LORD.

²⁶ Shelomith and his relatives were in charge of all the treasuries for the things dedicated by King David, by the heads of families who were the commanders of thousands and commanders of hundreds, and by the other army commanders.

¹⁵ »When Aaron and his sons finished covering the holy things and the camp is ready to move, the Kohathites will come to carry all the holy articles. They must never touch the holy things, or they will die. The Kohathites will carry all the things from the tent of meeting.

²⁸ This is the work of the family of the Gershonites in the Tent of meeting, and they will be under the direction of Ithamar, the son of Aaron the priest.

³³ This is the work which the sons of Merari are to do in connection with the Tent of meeting, under the direction of Ithamar, the son of Aaron the priest.

¹⁷ And the tabernacle was taken down, and the sons of Gerson and Merari set forward, bearing it.

²¹ then were the Kaathites to move on, carrying the holy things, so that the tabernacle might be set up when they arrived.

²⁰ Their fellow Levites were in charge of the treasuries of the house of God and the treasuries for the dedicated things. ²¹ The descendants of Ladan, who were Gershonites through Ladan and who were heads of families belonging to Ladan the Gershonite, were Jehieli, ²² the sons of Jehieli, Zetham and his brother Joel. They were in charge of the treasuries of the temple of the LORD. ²³ From the Amramites, the Izharites, the Hebronites and the Uzzielites: ²⁴ Shubael, a descendant of Gershom son of Moses, was the officer in charge of the treasuries. ²⁵ His relatives through Eliezer: Rehabiah his son, Jeshaiah his son, Joram his son, Zicri his son and Shelomith his son. ²⁶ Shelomith and his relatives were in charge of all the treasuries for the things dedicated by King David, by the heads of families who were the commanders of thousands and commanders of hundreds, and by the other army commanders. ²⁷ Some of the plunder taken in battle they dedicated for the repair of the Temple of the LORD. ²⁸ And everything dedicated by Samuel the seer and by Saul son of Kish, Abner son of Ner and Joab son of Zeruiah, and all the other dedicated things were in the care of Shelomith and his relatives.

²⁴ Then I set apart twelve of the chiefs of the priests, even Sherebiah, Hashabiah, and ten of their brothers with them, ²⁵ And weighed unto them the silver, and the gold, and the articles, even the offering for the house of our God, which the king, and his counselors, and his lords, and all Israel there present, had offered: ²⁶ I divided among them 650 silver talents, silver utensils weighing 100 talents, 7,500 gold talents, ²⁷ Also twenty bowls of gold, worth a thousand darics; and two vessels of fine polished bronze, as precious as gold. ²⁸ I said to them, "You are holy to the LORD, and the vessels are holy; and the silver and the gold are a freewill offering to the LORD, the God of your fathers. ²⁹ Be alert and guard them until you weigh them out in the rooms of the House of the LORD before the priests' chiefs and the Levites and the heads of the fathers' houses of Israel in Jerusalem. ³⁰ So the priests and the Levites took the weight of the silver, and the gold, and the articles, to bring them to Jerusalem, to the house of our God.

¹¹ Get out of her my people! Touch no unclean thing! Come out from it and be pure, you who carry the vessels of the LORD.

¹⁹ And I have given the Levites; they are given to Aaron and his sons from the midst of the Israelites to do the work of the Israelites in the tent of the assembly and to make atonement for the Israelites, so a plague will not be among the Israelites when the Israelites come near the sanctuary."

⁸ This is why it says: “When He ascended on high, He led captives away, and gave gifts to men.”

¹¹ And it was He who gave some to be apostles, some to be prophets, some to be evangelists, and some to be pastors and teachers,

⁹ And you will gird Aaron and his sons with sashes and wrap headdresses on them. And priesthood will be theirs as a lasting rule, and you will ordain Aaron and his sons.

⁵¹ When the tabernacle is to move, the Levites shall take it down; and when the tabernacle is to be set up, the Levites shall set it up. The stranger who comes near shall be put to death.

³⁸ Moses, Aaron, and his sons put up their tents on the east side in front of the tent of meeting. They were in charge of the holy place on behalf of the Israelites. Anyone else who tried to do the Levites' duties had to be put to death.

³⁵ And fire came forth from the LORD and consumed the two hundred and fifty men that offered the incense.

⁴⁰ He followed the LORD's command given through Moses. The copper-covered altar will remind Israel that no one but a descendant of Aaron may come near to burn incense to the LORD. Everyone else will die like Korah and his followers.

³ They will keep your responsibility and the responsibility of all the tent, only they may not come near the vessels of the sanctuary and the altar, so both you and they will not die.

⁷ You and your sons with you shall keep your priesthood for everything of the altar, and for that within the veil; and you shall serve. I give you the priesthood as a gift, and the stranger who comes near shall be put to death.

¹⁹ He struck seventy men among the men of Beth Shemesh because they looked into the ark of the LORD. So the people mourned because the LORD had struck a great blow among the people.

⁷ the LORD's anger burned against Uzzah; and God struck him there for his error; and he died there by God's ark.

³² They ministered with music before the tabernacle, the Tent of Meeting, until Solomon built the temple of the LORD in Jerusalem. They performed their duties according to the regulations laid down for them.

¹⁶ But when he became strong his heart was lifted up to [his] downfall; and he transgressed against the LORD his God, and went into the temple of the LORD to burn incense upon the altar of incense. ¹⁷ But Azariah the priest went in after him with four score priests of the LORD that were bold men. ¹⁸ And they stood against King Uzziah and said to him, "It is not for you, Uzziah, to burn incense to the LORD, but it is for the priests, the descendants of Aaron, who are consecrated to burn incense. Go out of the sanctuary, for you have acted unfaithfully. There will be no honor for you from the LORD God." ¹⁹ Then Uzziah was angry. He had a censer in his hand to burn incense, and while he was angry with the priests, the leprosy broke out on his forehead before the priests in the LORD's house, beside the altar of incense. ²⁰ And Azariah the chief priest, and all the priests, looked upon him, and, behold, he was leprous in his forehead, and they thrust him out from thence; yea, himself hasted also to go out, because the LORD had smitten him. ²¹ So King Uzziah was leprous until the day of his death, and he lived in a separate house as a leper, for he was cut off from the house of the LORD. And Jotham his son was over the house of the king, judging the people of the land.

⁸ »‘You did not take care of my holy things. You put foreigners in charge of my Temple!«’

³ Therefore, brothers, select from among you seven men confirmed to be full of the Spirit and wisdom. We will appoint this responsibility to them ⁴ and we will give our attention to prayer and the ministry of the word.

⁷ if it is serving, let him serve; if it is teaching, let him teach;

¹⁹ So then, you are no longer strangers and aliens, but fellow citizens with the saints and members of God’s household,

¹⁵ Be diligent in these matters; give yourself wholly to them, so that all may see your progress. ¹⁶ Take heed to yourself and to your teaching; persevere in them, for if you do, you will save both yourself and your hearers.

⁴ If he were on earth, he would not be a priest, for there are those who offer the gifts according to the Law.

¹⁹ Therefore, brothers, since we have confidence to enter the Most Holy Place by the blood of Jesus, ²⁰ by the new and living way opened for us through the curtain of His body, ²¹ and since we have a great priest over the house of God, ²² let us draw near with a sincere heart in full assurance of faith, having our hearts sprinkled to cleanse us from a guilty conscience and our bodies washed with pure water.

² "Consecrate to me every firstborn, the first offspring of every womb among the Israelites, among humans and among domestic animals; it belongs to me."

⁴¹ And separate the Levites for me I am the LORD instead of all the first-born sons of Israel and the livestock of the Levites in place of all the first born of the livestock of Israel.

⁴⁵ Separate the Levites in place of all the first born sons of Israel and the livestock of the Levites in place of their livestock. The Levites belong to me I am the LORD.

¹⁶ "They will be the only Israelites given to me. I have taken them to be mine as substitutes for every firstborn male offspring of the Israelites.

¹⁸ And I have taken the Levites instead of all the first-born among the sons of Israel.

⁶ Behold, I myself have taken your brothers the Levites from among the children of Israel. They are a gift to you, dedicated to the LORD, to do the service of the Tent of Meeting.

²⁹ And so at midnight the LORD struck down every firstborn in the land of Egypt, from the firstborn of Pharaoh who sat on his throne to the firstborn of the prisoner who was in the dungeon, and all the firstborn of the livestock. ³⁰ Pharaoh got up during the night, he, all his officials, and all the Egyptians, and there was loud wailing in Egypt, for there was not a house without someone dead in it.

¹² you shall dedicate to the LORD everything that first opens the womb. All the firstborn males of your livestock belong to the LORD.

¹⁵ And when Pharaoh stubbornly refused to let us go, the LORD killed every firstborn in the land of Egypt, from the firstborn of humans to the firstborn of animals. Therefore, I sacrifice to the LORD every male that first opens the womb, but I redeem every firstborn of my sons.'

²⁹ "Do not delay the offering from your harvest and your vintage. Give the firstborn of your sons to me.

¹⁹ "Every first male offspring is mine. The firstborn males of all your livestock, whether cattle, sheep, or goats are mine.

²⁶ However, the first-born of an animal, which should be the LORD's first-born, no man shall sanctify it, whether an ox, or sheep, it is the LORD's.

¹⁶ "They will be the only Israelites given to me. I have taken them to be mine as substitutes for every firstborn male offspring of the Israelites. ¹⁷ For all the first-born of the sons of Israel are Mine, both man and animal. On the day that I struck every first-born in the land of Egypt I set them apart for Myself.

¹⁵ "Every firstborn male, human or animal that is brought to the LORD is yours. But you must buy back every firstborn son and the firstborn male of any unclean animal.

³⁰ And the first of all the first-fruits of all, and every heave-offering of all, of all your heave-offerings, are the priests':and the first of your dough you give to the priest, to cause a blessing to rest on your house."

²³ (as it is written in the Law of the Lord: “Every firstborn male shall be consecrated to the Lord”),

²³ and to the church of the firstborn, who are enrolled in heaven; and to God the Judge of all, and to the spirits of righteous men made perfect;

⁴⁷ But the Levites after the tribe of their fathers were not counted among them.

²² The number of all the males a month old and above were 7,500.

²⁸ The number of all the males from a month old and above were 8,600. They were tasked to care of the sanctuary.

³⁴ The number of all the males a month old and above were 6, 200.

³⁹ All the numbering of the Levites, whom Moses and Aaron numbered by the word of the Lord, according to their families, every male from a month old and upwards, were twenty-two thousand. ⁴⁰ Then the LORD said to Moses: Number all the first-born males of Israel from a month old and above and list their names.

⁴³ All of the first-born male according to the list of their names from a month old and above were numbered at 22,273.

¹⁵ "Every firstborn male, human or animal that is brought to the LORD is yours. But you must buy back every firstborn son and the firstborn male of any unclean animal. ¹⁶ "When they are one month old, you must buy them back at the fixed price of two ounces of silver using the standard weight of the holy place.

⁶² The total number of all the Levite males at least one month old was twenty-three thousand. They were not counted along with the other Israelites, because they were given no land of their own.

¹⁷ I love those who love me, and those who seek me will find me.

² "Go and announce to Jerusalem: 'This is what the LORD says: "I remember the loyal devotion of your youth, your love as a bride. You followed me in the desert, in a land that was not planted.

³ the LORD appeared to him from afar, saying: "I have loved you with an everlasting love. Therefore I have drawn you with loving-kindness.

¹⁴ When Jesus saw this, He was indignant and told them, “Let the little children come to Me, and do not hinder them! For the kingdom of God belongs to such as these.

¹⁵ From infancy you have known the Holy Scriptures, which are able to make you wise for salvation through faith in Christ Jesus.

²¹ And the sons of Israel did so. And Joseph gave them waggons as Pharao the king commanded. He gave them also provisions for the journey.

³⁹ All the numbering of the Levites, whom Moses and Aaron numbered by the word of the Lord, according to their families, every male from a month old and upwards, were twenty-two thousand.

⁵¹ and Moses gave the redemption money to Aaron and to his sons, according to the LORD’s word, as the LORD commanded Moses.

²⁷ "All their work, whatever they carry and all their duties, will be done under the direction of Aaron and his sons. You are in charge of telling them everything they are to carry.

³⁷ This was the total of all those in the Kohathite families who served at the tent of meeting. Moses and Aaron did as the LORD commanded Moses and registered the Kohathites.

⁴¹ This was the total of all those in the Gershonite families who worked at the tent of meeting. Moses and Aaron did as the LORD commanded Moses and registered the Gershonites.

⁴⁵ This was the muster of the community of the Merarites, whom Moses and Aaron reviewed, at the command of the Lord, by the hand of Moses.

⁴⁹ At the LORD's command through Moses each man was registered and told what to do and what to carry. So they were registered as the LORD commanded Moses.

⁵ "Then the priests, the sons of Levi, shall come near. the LORD your God has chosen them to serve him and to bless in the name of the LORD. They will settle every dispute and every assault.

¹¹ The sons of Levi: Gershon, Kohath, and Merari.

¹⁶ These are the names of Levi's sons according to their genealogies: Gershon, Kohath, and Merari. Levi lived 137 years. ¹⁷ The sons of Gershon: Libni and Shimei in their kindreds. ¹⁸ Kohath's descendants included Amram, Izhar, Hebron, and Uzziel. Now Kohath lived for 133 years. ¹⁹ And the sons of Merari: Mahli, and Mushi. These were the families of Levi according to their generations.

⁵ "With each sheep or goat for the burnt offering or any other sacrifice, also give an offering of one quart of wine. ⁶ “'For a ram, you shall prepare for a meal offering two tenths of an ephah of fine flour mixed with the third part of a hin of oil; ⁷ and an offering of one and one quarter quarts of wine. Offer them as a soothing aroma to the LORD. ⁸ When you prepare a bull as a burnt offering or a sacrifice to fulfill a vow or a fellowship offering for the LORD, ⁹ then he shall offer with the bull a meal offering of three tenths of an ephah of fine flour mixed with half a hin of oil; ¹⁰ And you shall bring for a drink offering half a hin of wine, an offering made by fire, of a sweet savor to the LORD. ¹¹ »Do this for each bull, each ram, and each sheep or goat. ¹² "Do it for each animal, however many you sacrifice. ¹³ "'All who are native-born shall do these things in this way, in offering an offering made by fire, of a pleasant aroma to the LORD. ¹⁴ And if a stranger stays with you, or whoever is among you in your generations, and will offer an offering made by fire of a sweet savor to the LORD; as you do, so he shall do. ¹⁵ For the assembly, there will be one decree for you and for the alien who dwells among you; it is an eternal decree for all your generations. You as well as the alien will be before the LORD. ¹⁶ "The same laws and regulations apply to you and to them." ¹⁷ the LORD gave Moses ¹⁸ "Speak to the Israelites and say to them, 'When you come into the land to which I am about to bring you, ¹⁹ whenever you eat from the food of the land, you will lift up a contribution to the LORD. ²⁰ exalt a cake of the first of your dough for an exaltment: as the exaltment of the threshingfloor, thus you exalt. ²¹ From generation to generation you are to give to the Lord a lifted offering from the first of your rough meal. ²² "Suppose someone unintentionally fails to keep some of these regulations the LORD gave Moses. ²³ even all that LORD has commanded you by Moses, from the day that LORD gave commandment, and onward throughout your generations,

⁶ He went back to Balak and found him standing beside his burnt offering with all the princes of Moab. ⁷ Balaam delivered this message: "Balak brought me from Aram. The king of Moab summoned me from the eastern mountains. Come and curse Jacob for me," he said. 'Come and condemn Israel. ⁸ "'How can I curse those whom God has not cursed? How can I condemn those whom the LORD has not condemned? ⁹ Because from the top of the rocks I see him, from hilltops I watch him. Behold, a people who dwell alone, they do not consider themselves among the nations. ¹⁰ Who can count the dust of Jacob, or number the fourth part of Israel? Let me die the death of the righteous, and let my last end be like his! ¹¹ Balak responded to Balaam: "What have you done to me? I brought you here to curse my enemies, but all you have done is bless them!" ¹² He answered and said, "Should I not speak what the LORD puts in my mouth?" ¹³ Balak said: "Please come with me to another place, where you can see the Israelites. You will see only some of them, not all of them. Curse them for me from there." ¹⁴ So he took him to the field of Zophim to the top of Pisgah, and he built seven altars, and he offered a bull and a ram on each altar. ¹⁵ Then Balaam said to Balak: "Stay here beside your burnt offering while I meet with God over there." ¹⁶ The LORD met Balaam, and put a word in his mouth, and said, "Return to Balak, and say this." ¹⁷ So he returned and found Balak still standing by his burnt offering. He was with the leaders of Moab. Balak asked what the LORD said. ¹⁸ Then he uttered his oracle, and said, "Stand up, Balak, and hear; listen to me, son of Zippor! ¹⁹ God is not a man, that he should lie, nor a son of humankind, that he should change his mind. Has he said, and will he not do it? And has he spoken, and will he not fulfill it? ²⁰ Look, I have received a command to bless. He has blessed, and I can't reverse it. ²¹ He has not seen iniquity in Jacob, neither has He seen perverseness in Israel. the LORD his God is with him, the shout of a king is among them. ²² God brought them out of Egypt; he has as it were the strength of a wild ox. ²³ For there is not a spell against Jacob, nor any divination against Israel. Now it is said of Jacob and Israel, See what God has done!

¹ And when Balaam saw that it pleased the LORD to bless Israel, he did not go, as at the other times, to meet with omens, but he set his face toward the wilderness. ² And Balaam lifted up his eyes, and sees Israel encamped by their tribes; and the Spirit of God came upon him. ³ and he took up his parable, and said,—The oracle of Balaam, son of Beor, Yea the oracle of the man, of opened eye; ⁴ The oracle of him who hears the words of God and who sees the vision of the Almighty. Falling down, yet having his eyes open. ⁵ How beautiful are thy tents, O Jacob, thy dwelling, O Israel! ⁶ "They are like valleys that stretch out, like gardens beside the river, like aloes planted by the LORD, like cedars beside the waters. ⁷ Water will flow from his buckets and his seed will be in many waters and his king will be higher than Agag and his kingdom will be exalted. ⁸ ?God brought him out of Egypt; he hath as it were the strength of a buffalo. He shall consume the nations his enemies, and break their bones, and with his arrows shall smite [them] in pieces. ⁹ He lies down, he rests as a lion; and as a young lion, who shall rouse him? Those that bless you are blessed, and those that curse you are cursed. ¹⁰ Balak's anger burned against Balaam. He struck his hands together and Balak said to Balaam: I called you to curse my enemies! But you have persisted in blessing them three times! ¹¹ Therefore, run away to your place now. I said: "I will honor you greatly, but the LORD has held you back from honor." ¹² Balaam replied to Balak: "Did I not tell the messengers whom you sent to me: ¹³ 'If Balak would give me his house full of silver and gold, I can't go beyond the word of the LORD, to do either good or bad of my own mind. I will say what the LORD says?' ¹⁴ So now I will go back to my people: but first let me make clear to you what this people will do to your people in days to come. ¹⁵ He began his discourse by saying: "The oracle of Balaam the son of Beor. The oracle of the man, whose eye is opened, ¹⁶ "The oracle of him who hears the words of God, knows the knowledge of the Most High, and sees the vision of the Almighty. Falling down, yet having his eyes uncovered. ¹⁷ I see him, but not now. I see him, but not near. A star will come out of Jacob. A scepter will rise out of Israel, and shall strike through the corners of Moab, and crush all the sons of Sheth. ¹⁸ Edom will be a captive; Seir, its enemies, will be a captive, and Israel will be acting courageously. ¹⁹ One from Jacob shall hold sway, and will destroy the survivors of the city. ²⁰ And he looked at Amalek, uttered his oracle, and said, "Amalek is first of the nations, but his future will be forever ruin." ²¹ He looked at the Kenite, and took up his parable and said, Your dwelling place is strong, your nest is set in the rock. ²² But still the Kenites will be wasted, till Asshur takes you away prisoner. ²³ And he took up his oracle, and said, Alas, who shall live when God does this! ²⁴ "Ships will come from the coast of Kittim. They will afflict Asshur and will afflict Eber. They will also come to destruction." ²⁵ Balaam got up and went back home. Balak also went his way.

⁵⁷ These were the mustered ones of the Levites by their families:through Gershon the Gershonite family; through Kohath the Kohathite family; through Merari the Merarite family. ⁵⁸ These were the families of Levi: the Libnite family, the Hebronite family, the Mahlite family, the Mushite family, and the Korahite family. Kohath was the ancestor of Amram.

¹ The leaders of the Levite families went to Eleazar the priest, Joshua son of Nun, and to the heads of the families of all the tribes of Israel. ² It was at Shiloh in the land of Canaan that they told them, "The LORD ordered through Moses that we be given cities in which to live, along with their pasture lands for our livestock." ³ So, by command of the LORD, the Israelites gave the Levites these cities and their pasturelands from their inheritance. ⁴ The allotment fell for the families of the Kohathites. The descendants of Aaron the priest, who were of the Levites, received by lot thirteen towns from the tribes of Judah, Simeon, and Benjamin. ⁵ The rest of the clan of Kohath was assigned ten cities from the territories of Ephraim, Dan, and West Manasseh. ⁶ The descendants of Gershon received by lot thirteen cities from the families of the tribes of Issachar, Asher, and Naphtali and from the half-tribe of Manasseh in Bashan. ⁷ The children of Merari by their families were given twelve towns from the tribes of Reuben and Gad and Zebulun. ⁸ The Israelites gave to the Levites these cities and their pastureland by lot, just as the LORD commanded through the hand of Moses. ⁹ From the tribes of the descendants of Judah and Simeon, they gave these cities, delineated by name: ¹⁰ and they were for the descendants of Aaron, from the families of the Kohathites, from the descendants of Levi, because the first lot was theirs. ¹¹ They gave them Kiriath Arba, named after the father of Anak (that is, Hebron), in the hill country of Judah, with its suburbs around it. ¹² But the fields and the villages thereof he had given to Caleb the son of Jephone for his possession. ¹³ To the descendants of Aaron the priest they gave Hebron, the city of refuge for the killer, and its pasturelands, Libnah and its pasturelands, ¹⁴ Jattir, Eshtemoa, ¹⁵ Holon, Debir, ¹⁶ And Ain, and Juttah, and Beth-shemesh, with their grass-lands; nine towns from those two tribes. ¹⁷ From the territory of Benjamin they were given four cities: Gibeon, Geba, ¹⁸ Anathoth and Almon with their grass-lands, four towns. ¹⁹ All these cities of the priests, the sons of Aaron, are thirteen cities with their suburbs. ²⁰ The rest of the families of the children of Kohath, the Levites, were given towns from the tribe of Ephraim. ²¹ Of the tribe of Ephraim, Sichem one of the cities of refuge, with the suburbs thereof in mount Ephraim, and Gazer, ²² Kibzaim, and Beth Horon, with their pasturelands. ²³ And of he tribe of Dan, Eltheco and Gabathon, ²⁴ Aijalon and Gath-rimmon with their grass-lands, four towns. ²⁵ And from the half-tribe of Manasseh, Taanach and Gath-rimmon with their grass-lands, two towns. ²⁶ All the cities, ten, and their areas, to the families of the sons of Kohath, those remaining. ²⁷ To the descendants of Gershon, one of the families of the Levites, from the half-tribe of Manasseh, Golan in Bashan, a city of refuge for the killer, and its pasturelands, and Eshtarah and its pasturelands; two cities. ²⁸ And of the tribe of Issachar, Cesion, and Dabereth, ²⁹ Jarmuth and En-gannim with their grass-lands, four towns. ³⁰ And of the tribe of Aser, Masal and Abdon, ³¹ Helkath and Rehob with their grass-lands, four towns. ³² From the tribe of Naphtali, Kedesh in Galilee, the city of refuge for the killer, and its pasturelands, Hammoth Dor and its pasturelands, and Kartan and its pasturelands; three cities. ³³ All, the cities of the Gershonites, by their families, were thirteen cities, with their pasture lands. ³⁴ The rest of the Levites, the clan of Merari, received from the territory of Zebulun four cities: Jokneam, Kartah, ³⁵ Dimnah and Nahalal with their grass-lands, four towns. ³⁶ And out of the tribe of Reuben, Bezer and Jahazah, ³⁷ Kedemoth and Mephaath with their grass-lands, four towns. ³⁸ From the tribe of Gad, Ramoth in Gilead, the city of refuge for the killer, and its pasturelands, Mahanaim and its pasturelands, ³⁹ Heshbon and Jazer with their grass-lands, four towns. ⁴⁰ (21:38) All the cities of the children of Merari by their families and kindreds, were twelve. ⁴¹ All the cities of the Levites among the property of the Israelites were forty-eight cities and their pasturelands. ⁴² Each of these cities had pasturelands surrounding them; so it was for all of these cities. ⁴³ And the LORD gave to Israel all the land that he swore to give to their ancestors, and they took possession of it and settled in it. ⁴⁴ the LORD gave them rest on every side, according to all that he had sworn to their ancestors, and nobody from all their enemies withstood them, for the LORD had given all their enemies into their hand. ⁴⁵ Not one of the good promises that the LORD had made to the house of Israel failed all of them came about.

There dwelt every man in his possession in their cities, Israel, the priest and the Levites and the Nathinims and the children of Solomon's servants: ⁴ And some from the descendants of Judah and Benjamin lived in Jerusalem. From the descendants of Judah: Athaiah son of Uzziah, son of Zechariah, son of Amariah, son of Shephatiah, son of Mahalalel, from the descendants of Perez; ⁵ and Maaseiah the son of Baruch, the son of Col-hozeh, the son of Hazaiah, the son of Adaiah, the son of Joiarib, the son of Zechariah, the son of Shiloni. ⁶ All of the descendants of Perez who lived in Jerusalem numbered 468 men of valor. ⁷ These are the sons of Benjamin: Sallu the son of Meshullam, the son of Joed, the son of Pedaiah, the son of Kolaiah, the son of Maaseiah, the son of Ithiel, the son of Jeshaiah. ⁸ and after him Gabbai and Sallai, numbering 928. ⁹ And Joel son of Zicri, their chief officer; and Judah son of Hassenuah, second in command over the city. ¹⁰ Of the priests: Jedaiah the son of Joiarib, Jachin, ¹¹ Seraiah the son of Hilkiah the son of Meshullam, the son of Zadok, the son of Meraioth, the son of Ahitub, was prince in the house of God: ¹² Their associates who performed the work of the temple numberedc 822. Jeroham's son Adaiah, the son of Pelaliah, the son of Amzi, the son of Zechariah, the son of Pashhur, the son of Malchijah,

These were the sons of Shimei, four in all. ¹¹ Jahath was the first and Ziza the second, but Jeush and Beriah did not have many sons so they were counted as one family with one assignment.

⁴ Of Heman: the sons of Heman; Bukkiah, Mattaniah, Uzziel, Shebuel, and Jerimoth, Hananiah, Hanani, Eliathah, Giddalti, and Romamtiezer, Joshbekashah, Mallothi, Hothir, and Mahazioth:

¹ The divisions of the gatekeepers: From the Korahites: Meshelemiah son of Kore, one of the sons of Asaph. ² Meshelemiah had sons: Zechariah the firstborn, Jediael the second, Zebadiah the third, Jathniel the fourth, ³ Elam the fifth, Jehohanan the sixth, and Eliehoenai the seventh. ⁴ Obed-Edom also had sons: Shemaiah the firstborn, Jehozabad the second, Joah the third, Sacar the fourth, Nethanel the fifth, ⁵ Ammiel the sixth, Issachar the seventh and Peullethai the eighth. For God had blessed Obed-Edom. ⁶ His son Shemaiah also had sons, who were leaders in their father's family because they were very capable men. ⁷ The sons of Shemaiah: Othni, Rephael, Obed and Elzabad; his relatives Elihu and Semakiah were also able men. ⁸ All these were descendants of Obed-Edom; they and their sons and their relatives were capable men with the strength to do the work, descendants of Obed-Edom, sixty-two in all. ⁹ Meshelemiah had sons and relatives, who were able men, eighteen in all. ¹⁰ Hosah the Merarite had sons: Shimri the first although he was not the firstborn, his father had appointed him the first, ¹¹ Hilkiah the second, Tabaliah the third and Zechariah the fourth. The sons and relatives of Hosah were thirteen in all. ¹² These divisions of the gatekeepers, through their chief men, had duties for ministering in the Temple of the LORD, just as their relatives had. ¹³ Lots were cast for each gate, according to their families, young and old alike. ¹⁴ The lot for the East Gate fell to Shelemiah. Then lots were cast for his son Zechariah, a wise counselor, and the lot for the North Gate fell to him. ¹⁵ The lot for the South Gate fell to Obed-Edom, and the lot for the storehouse fell to his sons. ¹⁶ The lots for the West Gate and the Shalleketh Gate on the upper road fell to Shuppim and Hosah. Guard was alongside of guard: ¹⁷ There were six Levites a day on the east, four a day on the north, four a day on the south and two at a time at the storehouse. ¹⁸ As for the court to the west, there were four at the road and two at the court itself. ¹⁹ These were the divisions of the gatekeepers who were descendants of Korah and Merari. ²⁰ Their fellow Levites were in charge of the treasuries of the house of God and the treasuries for the dedicated things. ²¹ The descendants of Ladan, who were Gershonites through Ladan and who were heads of families belonging to Ladan the Gershonite, were Jehieli, ²² the sons of Jehieli, Zetham and his brother Joel. They were in charge of the treasuries of the temple of the LORD. ²³ From the Amramites, the Izharites, the Hebronites and the Uzzielites: ²⁴ Shubael, a descendant of Gershom son of Moses, was the officer in charge of the treasuries. ²⁵ His relatives through Eliezer: Rehabiah his son, Jeshaiah his son, Joram his son, Zicri his son and Shelomith his son. ²⁶ Shelomith and his relatives were in charge of all the treasuries for the things dedicated by King David, by the heads of families who were the commanders of thousands and commanders of hundreds, and by the other army commanders. ²⁷ Some of the plunder taken in battle they dedicated for the repair of the Temple of the LORD. ²⁸ And everything dedicated by Samuel the seer and by Saul son of Kish, Abner son of Ner and Joab son of Zeruiah, and all the other dedicated things were in the care of Shelomith and his relatives. ²⁹ From the Izharites: Kenaniah and his sons were assigned duties away from the temple, as officials and judges over Israel. ³⁰ From the Hebronites: Hashabiah and his relatives, seventeen hundred able men, were responsible in Israel west of the Jordan for all the work of the LORD and for the king's service. ³¹ As for the Hebronites, Jeriah was their chief according to the genealogical records of their families. In the fortieth year of David's reign a search was made in the records, and capable men among the Hebronites were found at Jazer in Gilead. ³² Jeriah had twenty-seven hundred relatives, who were able men and heads of families, and King David put them in charge of the Reubenites, the Gadites and the half-tribe of Manasseh for every matter pertaining to God and for the affairs of the king.

¹ These are the priests and Levites that went up with Zerubbabel the son of Shealtiel, and with Jeshua: Seraiah, Jeremiah, Ezra, ² Amariah, Malluch, Hattush, ³ Shecaniah, Rehum, Meremoth, ⁴ Iddo, Ginnethoi, Abijah, ⁵ Mijamin, Maadiah, Bilgah, ⁶ Shemaiah, Joiarib, Jedaiah, ⁷ Sallu, Amok, Hilkiah, and Jediah. These were the leaders of the priests and their associates in the time of Jeshua. ⁸ The Levites included Jeshua, Binnui, Kadmiel, Sherebiah, Judah, and Mattaniah, who with his associates was in charge of the songs of thanksgiving. ⁹ Bakbukiah and Unni and their associates stood opposite them in the service. ¹⁰ Jeshua was the father of Joiakim, and Joiakim was the father of Eliashib, and Eliashib was the father of Joiada, ¹¹ And Joiada was the father of Jonathan, and Jonathan was the father of Jaddua. ¹² In the days of Joiakim there were priests, heads of families: of Seraiah, Meraiah; of Jeremiah, Hananiah; ¹³ of Ezra, Meshullam; of Amariah, Jehohanan; ¹⁴ of Malluchi, Jonathan; of Shecaniah, Joseph; ¹⁵ of Harim, Adna; of Meraioth, Helkai; ¹⁶ of Iddo, Zechariah; of Ginnethon, Meshullam; ¹⁷ of Abijah, Zichri; of Miniamin [and] Moadiah, Piltai; ¹⁸ of Bilgah, Shammua; of Shemaiah, Jehonathan; ¹⁹ of Joiarib, Mattenai; of Jedaiah, Uzzi; ²⁰ of Sallu, Kallai; of Amok, Eber; ²¹ of Hilkiah, Hashabiah; of Jedaiah, Nethanel. ²² The Levites the chiefs of the families in the days of Eliasib, and Joiada, and Johanan, and Jeddoa, were recorded, and the priests in the reign of Darius the Persian. ²³ The leaders of the ancestors of Levi were written in the Book of Annals until the time of Eliashib's son Johanan. ²⁴ The leaders of the Levites were: Hashabiah, Sherebiah, and Kadmiel's son Jeshua, along with their associates who served opposite them to give praise and thanks, division by division, according to the commands given by David the man of God. ²⁵ Mattaniah, Bakbukiah, Obadiah, Meshullam, Talmon, and Akkub were gatekeepers who guarded the store houses of the gates. ²⁶ These were in the days of Joiakim the son of Jeshua, the son of Jozadak, and in the days of Nehemiah the governor, and of Ezra the priest and scribe.

¹⁷ So the Levites appointed Heman son of Joel, and from his brothers, Asaph the son of Berekiah, and from the sons of Merari, their brothers, Ethan the son of Kushaiah; ¹⁸ and with them their brothers of the second rank, Zechariah, Ben, Jaaziel, Shemiramoth, Jehiel, Unni, Eliab, Benaiah, Maaseiah, Mattithiah, Eliphelehu, Mikneiah, Obed-Edom, and Jeiel, the doorkeepers. ¹⁹ The musicians Heman, Asaph, and Ethan were appointed to play bronze cymbals. ²⁰ Zechariah, Aziel, Shemiramoth, Jehiel, Unni, Eliab, Maaseiah, and Benaiah were to play on harps according to Alamoth; ²¹ and Mattithiah, Eliphelehu, Mikneiah, Obed-Edom, Jeiel, and Azaziah were to play lyres, directing according to the Sheminith.

Aaron was set apart, he and his descendants from generation to generation, to consecrate the most holy things, to offer sacrifices before the LORD, to minister before him and to pronounce blessings in his name as long as they live.

⁶ from the descendants of Merari, Asaiah their leader, along with 220 of his relatives,

²¹ The sons of Merari: Mahli and Mushi. The sons of Mahli: Eleazar and Kish. ²² Eleazar died without having sons: he had only daughters. Their cousins, the sons of Kish, married them. ²³ The sons of Mushi: Mahli, Eder and Jerimoth, three in all.

²⁷ The sons of Merari: of Jaaziah, Beno, Shoham, Zaccur, and Ibri. ²⁸ For Mahli: Eleazar, who had no sons; ²⁹ Of Kish, the son of Kish: Jerahmeel. ³⁰ And the sons of Mushi: Mahli and Eder and Jerimoth. These were the sons of the Levites by their families.

³ Of Jeduthun, the sons of Jeduthun: Gedaliah, Zeri, Jeshaiah, Shimei, Hashabiah and Mattithiah, six, under the direction of their father Jeduthun with the harp, who prophesied in giving thanks and praising the LORD.

³⁸ The Gershonites were registered by families and households. ³⁹ All those from thirty to fifty years old who were able to do the work in the Tent of meeting, ⁴⁰ Those numbered according to their clans and ancestral house were 2,630.

⁵³ But the Levites must camp around the tabernacle of the testimony so that divine wrath won't fall on the congregation of Israel. The Levites must take care of the tabernacle of the testimony.

⁹ "Make the tent and all its furnishings exactly like the plans I show you.

¹ "Construct the tabernacle with ten curtains of fine twisted linen and blue and purple and scarlet material. Make them with cherubim, the work of a skillful workman. ² Every curtain is to be twenty-eight cubits long and four cubits wide, all of the same measure. ³ And five curtains shall be joined, each to its sister-piece. ⁴ And you will make loops of blue on the edge of the one curtain, at the end in the set; and you will do so on the edge of the end curtain in the second set. ⁵ Fifty twists on one curtain and fifty on the other, the twists to be opposite one another. ⁶ »Make fifty gold fasteners. Use them to link the two sets of curtains together so that the tent is a single unit. ⁷ And work curtains of goats for a tent on the tabernacle; work eleven curtains: ⁸ "Each of the eleven curtains will be forty-five feet long and six feet wide. ⁹ »Sew five of the curtains together into one set. Sew the remaining six into another set. Fold the sixth curtains in half to hang in front of the tent. ¹⁰ You shall make 50 loops along the edge of the outermost curtain in the first set, and 50 loops along the edge of the curtain of the other set. ¹¹ Then make fifty brass hooks and put the hooks into the twists, joining the tent together to make it one. ¹² As for the excess that remains of the curtains of the tent the half curtain that remains shall hang over the back of the tabernacle. ¹³ The nine inches that remain on either end of the length of the curtains of the tent shall hang over each side of the tabernacle to cover it. ¹⁴ And thou shalt make a covering for the tent of rams skins dyed red, and a covering of sealskins above.

³⁶ For the doorway of the tent you shall make a screen of blue, purple, and scarlet material, and fine woven linen, the work of an embroiderer. ³⁷ And make five pillars for the curtain, of hard wood plated with gold; their hooks are to be of gold and their bases of brass

⁸ And all who were skilled of heart among the doers of the work made the tabernacle with ten curtains of finely twisted linen and blue and purple and crimson yarns, with cherubim; he made them, the work of a skilled craftsman. ⁹ Every curtain was twenty-eight cubits long and four cubits wide, all of the same measure. ¹⁰ He joined five of the curtains together, and the other five curtains he joined together. ¹¹ And he made loops of blue on the edge of the one curtain, at the end in the set; so he did on the edge of the end curtain in the second set. ¹² He made fifty loops in one curtain, and he made fifty loops at the end of the curtain that was in the other coupling: the loops were opposite to one another. ¹³ They also made fifty gold fasteners. They used them to link the two sets of curtains together so that the inner tent was a single unit. ¹⁴ And he made curtains of goats' hair for the tent over the tabernacle: eleven curtains he made. ¹⁵ Each of the eleven curtains was forty-five feet long and six feet wide. ¹⁶ And he joined five of the curtains by themselves,—and the six curtains, by themselves. ¹⁷ And he made fifty loops on the edge of the end curtain in the set, and he made fifty loops on the edge of the curtain in the second set. ¹⁸ And he made fifty bronze clasps for joining the tent to become one. ¹⁹ And he made a covering for the tent of rams skins dyed red, and a covering of sealskins above.

³⁷ For the doorway of the tent, he made a screen of blue, purple, and scarlet material and fine woven linen, the work of an embroiderer, ³⁸ and its five pillars, and their hooks; and the overlaid their tops and their bands with gold; and their five sockets bronze.

¹⁹ And he spread out the tent over the tabernacle, and put the covering of the tent over it; as the LORD commanded Moses.

²⁸ And he hung up the curtain of the entrance to the tabernacle.

⁷ They shall observe his duties and the duties of the entire community before the tent of assembly, to do the work of the tabernacle.

²⁴ This is the service of the Gershonite families, to serve and to carry loads. ²⁵ they shall carry the curtains of the tabernacle and the Tent of Meeting, its covering, the covering of sealskin that is on it, the screen for the door of the Tent of Meeting, ²⁶ the curtains for the courtyard around the tent and the altar, the screen for the entrance to the courtyard, the ropes, and all the equipment used to set up the curtains. The Gershonites will do everything that needs to be done with these things. ²⁷ "All their work, whatever they carry and all their duties, will be done under the direction of Aaron and his sons. You are in charge of telling them everything they are to carry. ²⁸ This is the work of the family of the Gershonites in the Tent of meeting, and they will be under the direction of Ithamar, the son of Aaron the priest.

⁷ He gave two wagons and four oxen to the Gershonites for the work they had to do.

¹⁴ Of the Levites: Shemaiah son of Hasshub, the son of Azrikam, the son of Hashabiah, a Merarite; ¹⁵ Bakbakkar, Heresh, Galal and Mattaniah son of Mica, the son of Zicri, the son of Asaph; ¹⁶ Obadiah son of Shemaiah, the son of Galal, the son of Jeduthun; and Berekiah son of Asa, the son of Elkanah, who lived in the villages of the Netophathites. ¹⁷ The gatekeepers: Shallum, Akkub, Talmon, Ahiman and their brothers, Shallum their chief ¹⁸ being stationed at the King's Gate on the east, up to the present time. These were the gatekeepers belonging to the camp of the Levites. ¹⁹ Shallum son of Kore, the son of Ebiasaph, the son of Korah, and his fellow gatekeepers from his family, the Korahites, were responsible for guarding the thresholds of the tent just as their fathers had been responsible for guarding the entrance to the dwelling of the LORD. ²⁰ In earlier times Phinehas son of Eleazar was in charge of the gatekeepers, and the LORD was with him. ²¹ Zechariah son of Meshelemiah was the gatekeeper at the entrance to the Tent of Meeting. ²² Altogether, those chosen to be gatekeepers at the thresholds numbered two hundred and twelve. They were registered by genealogy in their villages. David and Samuel the seer had assigned the gatekeepers to their positions of trust. ²³ They and their descendants were in charge of guarding the gates of the house of the LORD, the house called the tent. ²⁴ The gatekeepers were on the four sides: east, west, north and south. ²⁵ Their brothers in their villages had to come from time to time and share their duties for seven-day periods. ²⁶ But the four principal gatekeepers, who were Levites, were entrusted with the responsibility for the rooms and treasuries in the house of God. ²⁷ They would spend the night stationed around the house of God, because they had to guard it; and they had charge of the key for opening it each morning. ²⁸ Some of them were in charge of the articles used in the temple service; they counted them when they were brought in and when they were taken out. ²⁹ Others were assigned to take care of the furnishings and all the other articles of the sanctuary, as well as the flour and wine, and the oil, incense and spices. ³⁰ But some of the priests took care of mixing the spices. ³¹ A Levite named Mattithiah, the firstborn son of Shallum the Korahite, was entrusted with the responsibility for baking the offering bread. ³² Some of their Kohathite brothers were in charge of preparing for every Sabbath the bread set out on the table. ³³ Those who were musicians, heads of Levite families, stayed in the rooms of the temple and were exempt from other duties because they were responsible for the work day and night.

³² So the Levites carried out their responsibilities for the Tent of Meeting, for the Holy Place and, under their brothers the descendants of Aaron, for the service of the Temple of the LORD.

²¹ The descendants of Ladan, who were Gershonites through Ladan and who were heads of families belonging to Ladan the Gershonite, were Jehieli, ²² the sons of Jehieli, Zetham and his brother Joel. They were in charge of the treasuries of the temple of the LORD.

² Hezekiah appointed the divisions of the priests and the Levites after their divisions, every man according to his service, both the priests and the Levites, for burnt offerings and for peace offerings, to minister, to give thanks, and to praise in the gates of the LORD's camp.

¹¹ Hezekiah gave an order to prepare storerooms in the LORD's temple, and so they did. ¹² They faithfully brought in the gifts, tithes, and consecrated materials, and Connie the Levite was placed in charge of them. His brother Shimei was second in command, ¹³ And Jehiel, Azaziah, Nathan, Asahel, Jerimoth, Jozabad, Eliel, Ismachiah, Mahath, and Benaiah were chief officers under the hand of Conaniah and Shimei, his brother, by appointment of King Hezekiah. And Azaraiah was leader of the house of God. ¹⁴ Kore the son of Imnah the Levite, the keeper of the east gate, was over the freewill offerings of God, to distribute the offerings of the LORD, and the most holy things. ¹⁵ Under him were Eden, Miniamin, Jeshua, Shemaiah, Amariah, and Shecaniah, in the cities of the priests, in their office of trust, to give to their brothers by divisions, to the great as well as to the small; ¹⁶ besides those from three years old and upward who as males were entered in the genealogical register, -- all that came into the house of the LORD, as the duty of every day required, for their service in their charges, according to their divisions, ¹⁷ And likewise to the priests recorded by their genealogies after their family divisions, and the Levites from twenty years old and upward, in their charges by their divisions; ¹⁸ And to the enrolling upon all their little ones, their wives and their sons, and their daughters, for all the convocation: for in their faithfulness they will consecrate themselves holy:

³⁴ It is like a man going on a journey, when he leaves his house and puts his servants in charge, each with his work, and commands the doorkeeper to be on the watch.

⁶ We have different gifts according to the grace given us. If someone’s gift is prophecy, let him use it in proportion to his faith; ⁷ if it is serving, let him serve; if it is teaching, let him teach; ⁸ if it is encouraging, let him encourage; if it is giving, let him give generously; if it is leading, let him lead with diligence; if it is showing mercy, let him do it cheerfully.

¹⁷ Tell Archippus: “See to it that you complete the ministry you have received in the Lord.”

¹⁸ Timothy, my child, I am instructing you in keeping with the prophecies made earlier about you, so that by following them you may continue to fight the good fight

⁹ "You shall make the court of the tabernacle. On the south side there shall be hangings of fine woven linen for the court, 150 feet long on one side. ¹⁰ And twenty pillars and their twenty brass bases: the pegs of the pillars and their joinings of silver. ¹¹ "The north side should be the same one hundred fifty feet long, with curtains on twenty posts set in twenty copper bases. The hooks and bands on the posts should be made of silver. ¹² "The courtyard on the west side should be seventy-five wide and have curtains hung on ten posts set in ten bases. ¹³ "On the east end, facing the rising sun, the courtyard should also be seventy-five feet wide. ¹⁴ Hangings of fifteen cubits in the one side of it with three pillars, and three sockets: ¹⁵ And on the other side, hangings fifteen cubits long, with three pillars and three bases. ¹⁶ And for the gate of the courtyard there will be a screen of twenty cubits of blue and purple and crimson yarns and finely twisted linen, the work of an embroiderer; with their four pillars and their four bases.

¹⁸ the pegs for the tabernacle, the pegs for the court, and their cords,

⁹ And he made the courtyard; for the south side were the hangings of the court of finely twisted linen, one hundred cubits, ¹⁰ And their posts—twenty, and their twenty brass bases. And their hooks and their clips were of silver. ¹¹ And for the north side. hangings a hundred cubits long, on twenty brass pillars in brass bases, with silver hooks and bands. ¹² The west side was seventy-five feet long. It had curtains hung on ten posts set in ten bases. The hooks and bands on the posts were made of silver. ¹³ and for the eastward edge toward the sunrise, fifty cubits. ¹⁴ Fifteen cubits of which, were on one side with three pillars, and their sockets: ¹⁵ Out of its branches were knobs, three on one side and three on the other answering each other; ¹⁶ All the hangings around the court were of fine twined linen.

³¹ Their responsibility was the ark, the table, the lampstand, the altar, and the vessels of the sanctuary, with which they ministered, and the curtain, and all of its use.

³⁵ Numbering all those from thirty to fifty years old who were able to do the work in the Tent of meeting; ³⁶ Those numbered according to their clan were 2,750.

¹⁰ Toward the south will be the division of the camp of Reuben under their standard. And the leader of Reuben will be Elizur, son of Shedeur.

²³ The Gershonite families encamped behind the tabernacle westward.

¹⁰ And they shall make an ark of acacia wood, two and a half cubits long, and a cubit and a half wide, and a cubit and a half high. ¹¹ "Cover it with pure gold inside and out and put a gold border all around it. ¹² You shall cast four rings for it and put them on its four feet, two rings on one side of it and two rings on its other side. ¹³ You shall make poles of acacia wood, and overlay them with gold. ¹⁴ You shall put the poles into the rings on the sides of the ark to carry the ark. ¹⁵ The poles are to remain in the rings of the ark and are not to be removed from it. ¹⁶ And you will put into the ark the testimony which I will give you. ¹⁷ And you are to make a cover of the best gold, two and a half cubits long and a cubit and a half wide. ¹⁸ And make two cherubims of thick gold on the two ends of the mercy seat; ¹⁹ "Make one cherub at one end and one cherub at the other end. You shall make the cherubim of one piece with the chest at its two ends. ²⁰ "The cherubim shall have their wings spread upward, covering the chest with their wings and facing one another. The faces of the cherubim are to be turned toward the chest. ²¹ And put the cover over the ark, and in the ark the record which I will give you. ²² "I will be above the throne of mercy between the angels whenever I meet with you. I will give you all my commandments for the Israelites. ²³ And you are to make a table of the same wood, two cubits long, a cubit wide and a cubit and a half high, ²⁴ You shall overlay it with pure gold, and make a gold molding around it. ²⁵ »Make a rim three inches wide around it. Put a gold molding around the rim. ²⁶ "Make four gold rings for it. Fasten them to the four corners where the four legs are. ²⁷ "The rings are to be close to the rim. They are to hold the poles for carrying the table. ²⁸ "Make the poles out of acacia wood. Cover them with gold and use them to carry the table. ²⁹ »The plates and dishes for the table should be out of pure gold. Also make pitchers and bowls to be used for pouring wine offerings. ³⁰ You shall set bread of the presence on the table before me always. ³¹ "You shall make a lamp stand of pure gold: the lamp stand and its base and stem shall be of hammered work, and its cups, calyxes, and flowers shall be of one piece with it. ³² Six branches shall proceed out of the sides of the candlestick, three out of the one side and three out of the other. ³³ three cups like almond-flowers, in the one branch apple and blossom, and thine cups like almond-flowers in the other branch apple and blossom, so, for the six branches, coming out of the lampstand. ³⁴ And in the lampstand itself, four cups,—like almond-flowers—its apples, and its blossoms; ³⁵ And under every two branches a bud, made with the branch, for all the six branches of it. ³⁶ Their buds and their branches shall be of one piece with it, all of it one beaten work of pure gold. ³⁷ "Then make a total of seven lamps. Mount the lamps so that they shed light on the space in front of it. ³⁸ Its tongs and trays shall be of pure gold. ³⁹ A talent of pure gold he shall make it, with all these vessels. ⁴⁰ See that thou make them according to the pattern shewn thee on this mount.

³¹ “You shall make a veil of blue, and purple, and scarlet, and fine twined linen, with cherubim. It shall be the work of a skillful workman. ³² Hanging it by gold hooks from four pillars of wood, plated with gold and fixed in silver bases. ³³ You shall hang the curtain from the clasps and bring the Ark of the Testimony there inside the curtain. The curtain shall separate for you the Holy Place from the Most Holy Place.

¹ And make an altar of hard wood, a square altar, five cubits long, five cubits wide and three cubits high. ² "Place a horn at each of its four corners. The four horns and the altar must be made out of one piece of wood covered with copper. ³ "Make all the utensils for it out of copper: pots for taking away the altar’s ashes, also shovels, bowls, forks, and incense burners. ⁴ "Make a grate for it out of copper mesh. Make a copper ring for each of the four corners of the grate. ⁵ "Place the grate under the ledge of the altar so that it comes halfway up the altar. ⁶ "Prepare poles out of acacia wood for the altar. Cover them with copper. ⁷ The poles for it shall be put through the rings, so the poles will be on the two sides of the altar when it's carried. ⁸ "Make the altar out of boards so that it is hollow inside. It must be made just as you were shown on the mountain.

¹ "Build an altar out of acacia wood for burning incense. ² The altar is to be square, a cubit long and a cubit wide, and two cubits high, and its horns are to be made of the same. ³ "Cover it all with pure gold, the top, the sides, and the horns. Put a gold molding around it. ⁴ "Make two gold rings. Place them below the molding on opposite sides to hold the poles for carrying it. ⁵ You will make the poles of acacia wood and overlay them with gold; ⁶ You shall put the altar in front of the curtain that is over the Ark of the Testimony, in front of the Mercy Seat that is over the Testimony where I'll meet with you. ⁷ "Aaron must burn sweet incense on this altar every morning when he takes care of the lamps. ⁸ and likewise at even when he setteth up the lamps he shall burn cense perpetually before the LORD throughout your generations. ⁹ You will offer no strange incense on it, nor burnt offering, nor meal offering. And you will pour no drink offering on it. ¹⁰ And once in the year Aaron shall make atonement on its horns, he shall purge it with the blood of purification for their generations: it is most holy to the Lord.

¹ the LORD said to Moses: ² See, I have called by name Bezalel the son of Uri, the son of Hur, of the tribe of Judah ³ and I've filled him with the Spirit of God, with wisdom, understanding, knowledge, and all kinds of craftsmanship ⁴ to create plans for work in gold, silver, and bronze, ⁵ and for cutting stones to set them, for carving wood, and for doing all kinds of craftsmanship. ⁶ »I also appointed Oholiab, son of Ahisamach, from the tribe of Dan, to help him. I have given every craftsman the skill necessary to make what I have commanded you: ⁷ the Tent of Meeting, the ark of the testimony, the mercy seat that is on it, all the furniture of the Tent, ⁸ the table and the dishes, the pure gold lamp stand and all its utensils, the altar for incense, ⁹ the altar for burnt offerings and all its accessories, the basin with its stand, ¹⁰ also the colored garments and the holy garments for Aaron, the priest, and the garments of his sons to serve as priests;" ¹¹ the anointing oil, and the sweet incense for the holy place. They will make all these things as I commanded you." ¹² And the Lord said to Moses, ¹³ "You shall speak to the Israelites: 'You shall surely observe my Sabbaths because it's a sign between me and you from generation to generation, so you may know that I am the LORD who sanctifies you. ¹⁴ So you are to keep the Sabbath as a holy day; and anyone not honouring it will certainly be put to death: whoever does any work on that day will be cut off from his people. ¹⁵ Six days may work be done, but the seventh day is a Sabbath of complete rest, holy to the Lord; whoever does any work on the Sabbath day is to be put to death. ¹⁶ "'The Israelites must observe the Sabbath and celebrate the Sabbath throughout their generations as a long lasting covenant. ¹⁷ It is a sign between me and the sons of Israel for ever; for in six days the LORD made the heavens and the earth, and on the seventh day he rested and was refreshed. ¹⁸ When God finished speaking to Moses on Mount Sinai, He gave him the two tablets of the testimony, tablets of stone, written by the finger of God.

¹ And Bezalel made the ark of hard wood, two and a half cubits long, a cubit and a half wide and a cubit and a half high; ² He overlaid it with pure gold, inside and outside, and made a gold molding around it. ³ He cast four rings of gold for it, in its four feet; even two rings on its one side, and two rings on its other side. ⁴ Then he made poles of acacia wood and overlaid them with gold; ⁵ And he put the poles into the rings, on the sides of the ark, to carry the ark. ⁶ And he made an atonement cover of pure gold, two and a half cubits its length and a cubit and a half its width. ⁷ and made two cherubims of thick gold upon the two ends of the mercy seat:

¹ He made the altar for burnt offerings out of acacia wood seven and one half feet square and four and one half feet high. ² And he made the horns thereof on the four corners of it; the horns thereof were of the same: and he overlaid it with brass. ³ And he made all the vessels of the altar: the cauldrons, shovels, basins, fleshhooks and coalpans all of brass. ⁴ And he made for the altar a bronze grate of network under its rim extending halfway down it. ⁵ And he cast four rings on the four ends of the copper grate as housings for the poles. ⁶ He made the poles of acacia wood, and overlaid them with bronze. ⁷ And he put the poles through rings on the sides of the altar to carry it. He made it hollow, out of boards.

³³ And they brought the tabernacle to Moses -- the tent, and all its utensils, its clasps, its boards, its bars, and its pillars, and its bases; ³⁴ the covering of ram skins dyed red, the covering of dolphin skins, the curtain, ³⁵ the ark of the testimony and its poles and the atonement cover; ³⁶ the table, with all its furnishings and the bread of the presence, ³⁷ the pure gold lamp stand with its lamps in a row and all its utensils, the olive oil for the lamps, ³⁸ the gold altar, the anointing oil, the fragrant incense, and the screen of the entrance of the tent; ³⁹ the copper altar with its copper grate, its poles, and all its accessories, the basin with its stand, ⁴⁰ the curtains for the courtyard, the posts, bases, and screen for the entrance to the courtyard, the ropes and pegs, all the equipment needed for the service of the inner tent for tent of meeting; ⁴¹ the woven garments for serving in the sanctuary, the holy garments for Aaron the priest, and the garments of his sons for serving as priests. ⁴² The Israelites had done all the work according to all that the LORD had commanded Moses.

² "Set up the tabernacle of the tent of meeting on the first day of the first month of the year. ³ You shall put the ark of the testimony in it, and you shall veil the ark with the curtain. ⁴ "Bring in the table and place the equipment on it. Also bring the lamp stand and set up the lamps on it. ⁵ "Put the gold altar for burning incense in front of the Covenant Box and hang the curtain at the entrance of the Tabernacle. ⁶ You shall put the altar for burnt offerings in front of the doorway of the tabernacle of the Tent of Meeting. ⁷ You shall put the basin between the Tent of Meeting and the altar and put water in it. ⁸ and set up the court all around and give the covering at the court portal: ⁹ You shall take the anointing oil and anoint the tabernacle and all that is in it. You shall consecrate it and all its furnishings and it will be holy. ¹⁰ "You shall anoint the altar for burnt offerings and all its utensils. You shall consecrate the altar and the altar will be most holy. ¹¹ And anoint the wash-basin and its foot, and consecrate it ¹² Then you shall bring Aaron and his sons to the doorway of the Tent of Meeting, and wash them with water. ¹³ »Dress Aaron in the priestly garments and anoint him. Consecrate him so that he can serve me as priest. ¹⁴ "Bring his sons and put the shirts on them. ¹⁵ "Anoint them just as you anointed their father that they can serve me as priests. This anointing will make them priests for generations to come." ¹⁶ Moses did everything just as the LORD commanded.

³⁰ He put the basin between the Tent of Meeting and the altar, and put water in it for washing.

⁴ This is the work of the Kohathites at the tent of meeting, regarding the most sacred objects. ⁵ When the camp is about to travel, Aaron and his sons must come and take down the veil of the curtain and cover the ark of testimony with it. ⁶ They will put on it a cover of azure hide and spread over it a cloth wholly of blue from above and put its poles in place. ⁷ And over the table of the presence they will spread out a blue cloth and put on it the plates, dishes, and libation bowls, and the pitchers of the libation; and the bread of continuity will be on it. ⁸ And over them they are to put a red cloth, covering it with a leather cover, and putting its rods in their places. ⁹ They must take a blue cloth and cover the lamp stand for the light with its lamp, lamp-snuffers, censer, and all the utensils for its oil with which they minister. ¹⁰ They will put it and all its vessels inside a covering of fine leather and put it on the carrying frame. ¹¹ On the golden altar they shall spread a blue cloth, and cover it with a covering of sealskin, and shall put in its poles. ¹² “They shall take all the vessels of ministry with which they minister in the sanctuary, and put them in a blue cloth, cover them with a covering of sealskin, and shall put them on the frame. ¹³ They shall take away the ashes from the altar, and spread a purple cloth on it. ¹⁴ they will put on it all the vessels with which they serve, the fire pans, forks, shovels, and bowls—all the vessels of the altar. They will spread on it a covering of fine leather; and they will place its poles. ¹⁵ »When Aaron and his sons finished covering the holy things and the camp is ready to move, the Kohathites will come to carry all the holy articles. They must never touch the holy things, or they will die. The Kohathites will carry all the things from the tent of meeting. ¹⁶ "Eleazar, son of the priest Aaron, will be in charge of the oil for the lamps, the sweet-smelling incense, the daily grain offering, and the anointing oil. He is in charge of the whole tent and everything in it, the holy place and its contents."

²⁵ Take Aaron and his son Eleazar, and cause them to go up to Mount Hor; ²⁶ Strip off Aaron's garments, and put them on Eleazar his son; Aaron will be gathered to his people, and he will die there." ²⁷ Moses did what the LORD commanded. They went up Mount Hor in the sight of the entire congregation. ²⁸ Moses stripped Aaron of his garments, and put them on Eleazar his son. Aaron died there on the top of the mountain, and Moses and Eleazar came down from the mountain.

¹⁸ And the captain of the guard took Seraiah the high priest, and Zephaniah the second in order, and the three doorkeepers.

¹⁴ Of the Levites: Shemaiah son of Hasshub, the son of Azrikam, the son of Hashabiah, a Merarite; ¹⁵ Bakbakkar, Heresh, Galal and Mattaniah son of Mica, the son of Zicri, the son of Asaph; ¹⁶ Obadiah son of Shemaiah, the son of Galal, the son of Jeduthun; and Berekiah son of Asa, the son of Elkanah, who lived in the villages of the Netophathites. ¹⁷ The gatekeepers: Shallum, Akkub, Talmon, Ahiman and their brothers, Shallum their chief ¹⁸ being stationed at the King's Gate on the east, up to the present time. These were the gatekeepers belonging to the camp of the Levites. ¹⁹ Shallum son of Kore, the son of Ebiasaph, the son of Korah, and his fellow gatekeepers from his family, the Korahites, were responsible for guarding the thresholds of the tent just as their fathers had been responsible for guarding the entrance to the dwelling of the LORD. ²⁰ In earlier times Phinehas son of Eleazar was in charge of the gatekeepers, and the LORD was with him.

²⁰ Their fellow Levites were in charge of the treasuries of the house of God and the treasuries for the dedicated things. ²¹ The descendants of Ladan, who were Gershonites through Ladan and who were heads of families belonging to Ladan the Gershonite, were Jehieli, ²² the sons of Jehieli, Zetham and his brother Joel. They were in charge of the treasuries of the temple of the LORD. ²³ From the Amramites, the Izharites, the Hebronites and the Uzzielites: ²⁴ Shubael, a descendant of Gershom son of Moses, was the officer in charge of the treasuries.

²⁰ And the sons of Merari by their families: Mahli and Mushi. These are the Levite families according to their fathers' houses.

²¹ The sons of Merari: Mahli and Mushi. The sons of Mahli: Eleazar and Kish.

²¹ Those registered with the tribe of Reuben were 46,500.

⁹ All those numbered by division in the camp of Judah are 186,400. They will be the first to travel.

²⁵ Toward the north will be the division of the camp of Dan under their standard. And the leader of Dan will be Ahiezer, son of Ammisshadai.

²⁸ The number of all the males from a month old and above were 8,600. They were tasked to care of the sanctuary. ²⁹ The families of the sons of Kohath shall camp on the south side of the tabernacle.

¹⁵ "You shall make upright boards of acacia wood for the tabernacle. ¹⁶ Every board is to be ten cubits high and a cubit and a half wide. ¹⁷ »It should have two identical pegs. Make all the frames for the inner tent the same way. ¹⁸ "Make twenty frames for the south side of the inner tent. ¹⁹ And forty silver bases thou shalt make under the twenty boards: two bases for the one board for its two hands. ²⁰ For the second side of the tabernacle, on the north side, twenty boards, ²¹ With their forty silver bases, two under every board. ²² "Prepare six frames for the far end, the west side. ²³ And you will make two frames for the tabernacle corners at the rear. ²⁴ The two are to be joined together at the base and at the top to one ring, forming the two angles. ²⁵ »There will be eight frames with sixteen silver sockets, two at the bottom of each frame. ²⁶ "You shall make bars of acacia wood, five for the boards on one side of the tabernacle, ²⁷ "Also prepare five for those on the other side, and five for the frames on the far end of the inner tent, the west side. ²⁸ "The middle crossbar will run from one end to the other. It should be halfway up the frames. ²⁹ "Cover the frames with gold. Make gold rings to hold the crossbars. Cover the crossbars with gold.

³² Hanging it by gold hooks from four pillars of wood, plated with gold and fixed in silver bases.

³⁷ And make five pillars for the curtain, of hard wood plated with gold; their hooks are to be of gold and their bases of brass

⁹ "You shall make the court of the tabernacle. On the south side there shall be hangings of fine woven linen for the court, 150 feet long on one side. ¹⁰ And twenty pillars and their twenty brass bases: the pegs of the pillars and their joinings of silver. ¹¹ "The north side should be the same one hundred fifty feet long, with curtains on twenty posts set in twenty copper bases. The hooks and bands on the posts should be made of silver. ¹² "The courtyard on the west side should be seventy-five wide and have curtains hung on ten posts set in ten bases. ¹³ "On the east end, facing the rising sun, the courtyard should also be seventy-five feet wide. ¹⁴ Hangings of fifteen cubits in the one side of it with three pillars, and three sockets: ¹⁵ And on the other side, hangings fifteen cubits long, with three pillars and three bases. ¹⁶ And for the gate of the courtyard there will be a screen of twenty cubits of blue and purple and crimson yarns and finely twisted linen, the work of an embroiderer; with their four pillars and their four bases. ¹⁷ All the pillars round the open space are to have silver bands, with hooks of silver and bases of brass. ¹⁸ The length of the courtyard will be one hundred cubits and the width fifty cubits and the height five cubits, of finely twisted linen, with their bronze bases. ¹⁹ All the instruments of the tabernacle in all the service of it and all the pegs of it and all the pegs of the court, will be of brass.

¹¹ The tabernacle, its tent, and its covering; its clasps and its frames; its bars, its pillars, and its bases;

²⁰ Then he made upright boards of acacia wood for the tabernacle. ²¹ The boards were ten cubits long and one cubit and a half wide. ²² Each board had two tenons, joined to one another. He made all the boards of the tabernacle this way. ²³ They made twenty frames for the south side of the inner tent. ²⁴ And he made forty sockets of silver under the twenty boards; two sockets under the one board for its two pins. ²⁵ For the second side of the tabernacle to the north he made twenty boards, ²⁶ With their forty silver bases, two bases for every board. ²⁷ They made six frames for the far end, the west side. ²⁸ And two boards he made for the corners of the tabernacle in the two sides. ²⁹ These were joined together at the base and at the top to one ring, so forming the two angles. ³⁰ So there were eight boards with sixteen bases of silver, two bases under every board. ³¹ Then he made bars of acacia wood, five for the boards on one side of the tabernacle, ³² five were for those on the other side, and five were for the frames on the far side of the inner tent, the west side. ³³ The middle crossbar was made so that it ran from one end to the other, halfway up the frames. ³⁴ They covered the frames with gold and made gold rings to hold the crossbars. They also covered the crossbars with gold.

³⁶ And he made for it four acacia pillars, and he overlaid them with gold, with their gold hooks, and he cast for them four silver bases.

¹⁷ The sockets for the pillars were of bronze. The hooks of the pillars and their fillets were of silver. Their capitals were overlaid with silver. All the pillars of the court had silver bands. ¹⁸ The screen for the entrance to the courtyard was made of violet, purple, and bright red yarn embroidered on fabric made from fine linen yarn. It was thirty feet long and seven and one half feet high, just like the curtains of the courtyard. ¹⁹ (37:17) and their pillars four, and their sockets four of brass, and their hooks of silver, and their chapiters overlaid with silver. ²⁰ All the pegs for the tabernacle and for all around the court were of bronze.

³³ And they brought the tabernacle to Moses -- the tent, and all its utensils, its clasps, its boards, its bars, and its pillars, and its bases;

²⁹ "Register the Merarites by families and households. ³⁰ Every one from thirty to fifty years old who is able to do the work of the Tent of meeting. ³¹ "These are their duties as they work at the tent of meeting: They will carry the framework for the inner tent, the crossbars, posts, and sockets, ³² the posts for the surrounding courtyard, the bases, pegs, and ropes. They must take care of all this equipment. Tell each man by name the things he will carry. ³³ This is the work which the sons of Merari are to do in connection with the Tent of meeting, under the direction of Ithamar, the son of Aaron the priest.

⁸ He gave four wagons and eight oxen to the Merarites for the work they had to do under the direction of Ithamar, son of the priest Aaron.

³ "On the east side, facing the rising sun, the armies led by Judah will camp under their flag. The leader for the people of Judah is Nahshon, son of Amminadab.

⁷ They shall observe his duties and the duties of the entire community before the tent of assembly, to do the work of the tabernacle. ⁸ They are to take care of the utensils at the tent of meeting and the needs of the Israelites by performing the duties of the tabernacle.

¹⁰ "Appoint Aaron and his sons to serve as priests. Anyone else who tries to do the priests' duties must be put to death."

²⁹ The families of the sons of Kohath shall camp on the south side of the tabernacle.

³⁵ The prince of the fathers' house of the families of Merari was Zuriel the son of Abihail. They shall camp on the north side of the tabernacle.

¹ The LORD said to Aaron, "You and your sons and your fathers' house with you shall bear the iniquity of the sanctuary; and you and your sons with you shall bear the iniquity of your priesthood. ² "Bring the other Levites from your ancestor’s tribe to join you and help you and your sons serve in front of the tent of the words of my promise. ³ They will keep your responsibility and the responsibility of all the tent, only they may not come near the vessels of the sanctuary and the altar, so both you and they will not die. ⁴ They shall be joined to you and keep the responsibility of the Tent of Meeting, for all the service of the Tent. A stranger shall not come near to you. ⁵ You are to be responsible for the holy place and the altar, so that wrath may never again come on the children of Israel.

⁴⁸ Their fellow Levites was assigned to all the other duties of the tabernacle, the house of God. ⁴⁹ But Aaron and his descendants were the ones who presented offerings on the altar of burnt offering and on the altar of incense in connection with all that was done in the Most Holy Place, making atonement for Israel, in accordance with all that Moses the servant of God had commanded.

⁴⁷ Those from thirty to fifty years old who were able to do the work of the Tent of meeting and of its transport, ⁴⁸ Those who were numbered were 8,580.

¹⁴ But small is the gate and narrow the way that leads to life, and only a few find it.

¹² "I myself receive the Levites from the midst of the Israelites in the place of all the firstborn of the offspring of the womb from the Israelites. The Levites will be mine

¹⁵ "Count the Levites by households and families. Count every male who is at least one month old."

⁶ The LORD shall count in the register of the peoples: 'This one was born there.' Selah

³ It will come about that he who is left in Zion and remains in Jerusalem will be called holy along with everyone who is recorded among the living in Jerusalem.

²⁰ Nevertheless, do not rejoice that the spirits submit to you, but rejoice that your names are written in heaven.”

³ Yes, and I ask you also, true yoke-fellow, to help these women who have struggled at my side in the cause of the gospel, together with Clement also and the rest of my fellow workers, whose names are in the book of life.

¹⁹ Nevertheless, God's firm foundation stands, having this seal: "The Lord knows those who are his," and, "Everyone who names the name of the Lord must turn away from wickedness."

⁵ "'He who overcomes will be clothed in white garments. I will not blot out his name from the book of life. In fact I will confess his name before my Father, and before his angels.

⁴ These are the ones who have not defiled themselves with women; for they are chaste. These are those who follow the Lamb wherever he goes. They were redeemed from among men, as first-fruits to God and to the Lamb.

⁵ He sent young Israelite men to offer up burnt offerings and sacrifice bulls as peace offerings to the LORD. ⁶ And Moses took half of the blood and put it in basins, and the other half he sprinkled on the altar.

²⁸ just as the Son of Man did not come to be served, but to serve, and to give his life as a ransom for many."

⁶ who gave himself as a ransom for allthe testimony given at the proper time.

⁴⁰ Then the LORD said to Moses: Number all the first-born males of Israel from a month old and above and list their names. ⁴¹ And separate the Levites for me I am the LORD instead of all the first-born sons of Israel and the livestock of the Levites in place of all the first born of the livestock of Israel.

¹³ You shall redeem every firstborn donkey with a lamb, and if you don't redeem it, you shall break its neck. You shall redeem every firstborn among your sons.

¹³ This they will give, everyone who is counted, the half shekel, according to the sanctuary shekel, which is twenty gerahs per shekel. The half shekel is a contribution for the LORD.

⁶ And if the person is from one month to five years old, then the value for a male will be five shekels of silver, and for a female three shekels.

²⁵ All your valuations shall be according to the shekel of the sanctuary: twenty gerahs to the shekel.

⁵⁰ From the first born of the Israelites, Moses took money amounting to 1,365 shekels according to the shekel of the sanctuary.

¹⁶ "When they are one month old, you must buy them back at the fixed price of two ounces of silver using the standard weight of the holy place.

¹² The shekel shall be twenty gerahs. Twenty shekels plus twenty-five shekels plus fifteen shekels shall be your mina.

⁴⁶ As to the ransom of the 273 from the first-born sons of Israel, in excess of the Levites, ⁴⁷ Will be five shekels for every one, by the scale of the holy place the shekel is twenty gerahs;

⁵ For there is one God and one mediator between God and men, the man Christ Jesus, ⁶ who gave himself as a ransom for allthe testimony given at the proper time.

¹⁴ who gave himself for us to redeem us from all wickedness and to purify for himself a people that are his very own, zealous for good deeds.

¹² He did not enter by means of the blood of goats and calves, but he entered the holy place once for all by his own blood, having obtained eternal redemption.

¹⁸ For you know that it was not with perishable things such as silver or gold that you were redeemed from the empty way of life you inherited from your forefathers,

¹⁸ For Christ also suffered for sins once for all, the righteous for the unrighteous, to bring you to God. He was put to death in the body, but made alive in the spirit,

⁴⁸ And give the money, wherewith the odd number of them is redeemed, unto Aaron and his sons."

¹⁵ Moses was very angry, and said to the LORD, "Do not respect their offering: I have not taken one donkey from them, neither have I hurt one of them."

³ Here I am. Witness against me before the LORD, and before his anointed. Whose ox have I taken? Whose donkey have I taken? Whom have I defrauded? Whom have I oppressed? Of whose hand have I taken a bribe to make me blind my eyes? I will restore it to you.” ⁴ They said, "You haven't cheated us or oppressed us, and you haven't taken anything from anyone's hand."

⁴ Remember the law of My servant Moses which I commanded him in Horeb for all Israel, the statutes and judgments.

³³ I have not coveted anyone’s silver or gold or clothing.

¹² If others have this right to your support, shouldn’t we have it all the more But we did not exercise this right. Instead, we put up with anything rather than hinder the gospel of Christ.

² Be shepherds of God's flock that is among you, watching over it, not because you must but because you want to, and not greedily but eagerly, as God desires.
