¹ To mortals belong the plans of the heart, but from the LORD comes the answer of the tongue. ² All the ways of a man are open to his eyes: the Lord is the weigher of spirits. ³ Commit your deeds to the LORD, and your plans shall succeed. ⁴ The LORD has made everything for its own end—yes, even the wicked for the day of evil. ⁵ The LORD detests those who are proud; truly they will not go unpunished. ⁶ Through kindness and truth is iniquity atoned for; and by the fear of the Lord men depart from evil. ⁷ When a man's ways please the LORD He makes even his enemies live at peace with him. ⁸ Better is a little with righteousness Than much income with injustice. ⁹ A man's heart plans his course, but the LORD directs his steps. ¹⁰ Divination is in the lips of the king, his mouth shall not err in judgment. ¹¹ Honest balances and scales are the LORD's; all the weights in the bag are his work. ¹² Kings detest wrong-doing, for through righteousness the throne is established. ¹³ Righteous lips are the delight of kings; they value one who speaks the truth. ¹⁴ The king's wrath is a messenger of death, but a wise man will pacify it. ¹⁵ The light of the king's face causes life. His favor is like a gentle rain in spring. ¹⁶ How much better to get wisdom than gold! And to get understanding instead of silver! ¹⁷ The highway of the upright departs from evil. He who guards his way preserves his life. ¹⁸ Pride goes before destruction, and a haughty spirit before a fall. ¹⁹ It is better to be lowly of spirit with the humble Than to apportion loot with the proud. ²⁰ He who heeds the word finds prosperity, and blessed is he who trusts in the LORD. ²¹ The wise-hearted person is said to be discerning, and pleasant speech promotes instruction. ²² Understanding is a fountain of life unto him that hath it; but folly is the chastisement of fools. ²³ A wise person's thoughts control his words, and his speech promotes instruction. ²⁴ Pleasant words are a honeycomb, sweet to the soul, and health to the bones. ²⁵ There is a way which seems right to a man, but in the end it leads to death. ²⁶ The life of a worker works for him, for his hunger urges him. ²⁷ An ungodly man plots evil, and his lips are like a burning fire. ²⁸ A perverse man stirs up strife, and a gossip separates close friends. ²⁹ A violent man entices his neighbor, and leads him into the way that is not good. ³⁰ One who winks his eyes to plot perversities, one who compresses his lips, is bent on evil. ³¹ Gray hair is a crown of glory; it is attained by a life of righteousness. ³² One slow to anger is better than the mighty, and he who rules his spirit than he who takes a city. ³³ The lot is cast into the lap, but its every decision is from the LORD.

¹¹ the LORD said to him: "Who has made man's mouth? Or who makes him mute or deaf, or seeing or blind? Is it not I, the LORD? ¹² Now go and I - I am with your mouth and direct you what to word.

¹⁵ You shall speak to him, and put the words in his mouth. I will be with your mouth, and with his mouth, and will teach you what you shall do.

³¹ When the chariot commanders saw Jehoshaphat, they said: "He must be the king of Israel." So they surrounded him in order to fight him. When Jehoshaphat cried out the LORD helped him. God drew them away from him.

²⁷ Blessed be the LORD, the God of our fathers, who has put this in the king's heart, to beautify the house of the LORD in Jerusalem.

¹¹ O Lord, please let your ear be attentive to the prayer of your servant and to the prayer of your servants who delight to revere in your name. Please, let your servant be successful this day and give him compassion before this man." I was cupbearer for the king.

¹⁷ LORD, you heard the desire of the afflicted; you will strengthen them, you will listen carefully,

³⁶ Turn my heart toward your statutes, not toward selfish gain.

⁹ A man's heart plans his course, but the LORD directs his steps.

²¹ There are many plans in a man's heart, but the LORD's counsel will prevail.

²⁴ A man's steps are directed by the LORD; how then can anyone understand his own way?

¹ The king's heart is in the hand of the LORD as streams of water. He turns it wherever he will.

⁷ the LORD said to me: "'Do not say, 'I am only a child.' You must go wherever I send you. You must say whatever I command you to say. ⁸ Do not be afraid of them, for I am with you to deliver you," declares the LORD. ⁹ Then the LORD stretched out his hand and touched my mouth. the LORD said to me: »I have put my words in your mouth.

²³ I know, O Lord, that man's way is not his own; neither shall a man go, and direct his going.

³⁹ I will give them one heart and one way, that they may fear me forever, for their good, and the good of their children after them. ⁴⁰ "I will make an eternal promise to them that I will never stop blessing them. I will make them respect me so that they will never turn away from me.

²⁶ I will give you a new heart and put a new spirit in you: I will take away the stony heart out of your flesh, and give you a heart of flesh: ²⁷ »I will put my Spirit in you. I will enable you to live by my Laws, and you will obey my rules.

¹⁹ But when they hand you over, do not worry about how to respond or what to say. In that hour you will be given what to say. ²⁰ For it will not be you speaking, but the Spirit of your Father speaking through you.

¹¹ When you are brought before the synagogues, rulers, and authorities, do not worry about how to defend yourselves or what to say. ¹² for the holy Spirit will teach you at that hour what you should say."

¹⁴ So make up your mind not to worry beforehand how to defend yourselves. ¹⁵ For I will give you speech and wisdom that none of your adversaries will be able to resist or contradict.

¹⁶ But thanks be to God, who put into the heart of Titus the same devotion I have for you.

¹³ For it is God who works in you to will and to act on behalf of His good pleasure.

¹⁶ Do not be deceived, my dear brothers. ¹⁷ Every good and perfect gift is from above, coming down from the Father of the heavenly lights, with whom there is no change or shifting shadow. ¹⁸ He chose to give us birth through the word of truth, that we would be a kind of firstfruits of His creation.

¹³ Samuel approached Saul. "May the LORD bless you," Saul said. "I've carried out the LORD's command." ¹⁴ Samuel said, "Then what is this bleating of sheep in my ears and the lowing of cattle that I hear?"

⁷ But the LORD said to Samuel, Don't look at his appearance or height, because I have rejected him. I do not look at the things man looks at; man looks at the outward appearance but the LORD looks at the heart.

² For he flatters himself in his own eyes, too much to detect and hate his sin.

²¹ For the ways of man are before the LORD's eyes. He examines all his paths.

²⁵ There is a way which seems right to a man, but in the end it leads to death.

² Every way of a man seemeth right to himself: but the Lord weigheth the hearts.

¹² if you say, "Look, we do not know this," does not he who weighs hearts perceive it? And he who keeps your soul, he knows and will repay humankind according to his deeds.

¹² A generation that are pure in their own eyes, and yet are not washed from their filthiness.

⁷ The path of the righteous is level. O upright One, you make the way of the righteous smooth.

²² Though you wash yourself with lye and use much soap, the stain of your guilt is still before me," declares the Lord GOD. ²³ How can you say, I am not defiled; I have not gone after the Baals? See your way in the valley, know what you have done! You are a swift camel crossing its ways;

¹⁰ "I, the LORD, search the heart and examine the mind (inner man). I give to each man according to his ways, according to the results of his deeds.

²⁷ Tekel; it has been weighed in the balance, and found wanting.

¹⁵ So He said to them, “You are the ones who justify yourselves before men, but God knows your hearts. For what is prized among men is detestable before God.

⁹ To some who trusted in their own righteousness and viewed others with contempt, He also told this parable: ¹⁰ "Two men went up to the temple to pray, one a Pharisee and the other a tax collector. ¹¹ The Pharisee stood and prayed thus with himself, 'God, I thank You that I am not like other men--swindlers, unjust, adulterers, or even like this tax collector.

⁷ What shall we say, then? Is the law sin? Certainly not! Indeed, I would not have known what sin was except through the law. For I would not have known what coveting really was if the law had not said, "You shall not covet." ⁸ But sin, seizing its opportunity through the commandment, produced in me every kind of covetous desire. For apart from the Law, sin is dead. ⁹ Once I was alive apart from the Law; but when the commandment came, sin sprang to life and I died.

¹⁸ To the angel of the church in Thyatira write: These are the words of the Son of God, whose eyes are like a blazing fire and whose feet are like polished bronze.

²³ Then I will strike her children dead, and all the churches will know that I am the One who searches minds and hearts, and I will repay each of you according to your deeds.

⁸ But as for me, I would make my prayer to God, and I would put my cause before him:

²⁸ Your purposes will come about, and light will be shining on your ways.

⁴ Delight yourself in the LORD, and he will give you the desires of your heart. ⁵ Commit your way to the LORD. Trust also in him, and he will do this:

²² Cast your burden on the LORD, and he will sustain you. He will never allow the righteous to be moved.

⁶ In all your ways acknowledge him, and he will make your paths straight.

⁵ "'Aram, Ephraim and Remaliah's son have plotted your ruin. They say: ⁶ "'"Let us invade Judah. Let us tear it apart and divide it among us. Let us make the son of Tabeel king over Judah." ⁷ "'This is what the Sovereign LORD says: "It will not take place! It will not happen!

²⁵ Therefore I tell you, do not worry about your life, what you will eat or drink; or about your body, what you will wear. Is not life more than food, and the body more than clothes? ²⁶ Look at the birds of the air: They do not sow or reap or gather into barns—and yet your Heavenly Father feeds them. Are you not much more valuable than they? ²⁷ Who of you by worrying can add a single hour to his lifespan? ²⁸ And why do you worry about clothes? Consider how the lilies of the field grow: They do not labor or spin. ²⁹ But I tell you that not even Solomon in all his splendor was arrayed like one of these. ³⁰ If that is how God clothes the grass of the field, which is here today and tomorrow is thrown into the furnace, will He not much more clothe you, O you of little faith? ³¹ Therefore do not worry, saying, 'What shall we eat?' or 'What shall we drink?' or 'What shall we wear?' ³² For the pagans pursue all these things, and your Heavenly Father knows that you need them. ³³ But seek first his kingdom and his righteousness, and all these things shall be given to you as well. ³⁴ Therefore do not worry about tomorrow, for tomorrow will worry about itself. Today has enough trouble of its own.

²² Then Jesus said to His disciples, “Therefore I tell you, do not worry about your life, what you will eat, or about your body, what you will wear.

⁶ Be anxious for nothing, but in everything, by prayer and petition, with thanksgiving, present your requests to God.

⁷ Cast all your anxiety on him, because he cares for you.

³⁰ that the evil man is reserved to the day of calamity, that they are led forth to the day of wrath?

⁷ "'Bring everyone who is called by my name, whom I created for my glory, whom I formed and made.'

²¹ the people which I formed for myself, that they might declare my praise.

²² What if God, intending to show His wrath and make His power known, bore with great patience the vessels of His wrath, prepared for destruction?

³⁶ For from him, and through him, and to him are all things. To him be the glory for ever! Amen.

⁸ and, "A stone that causes men to stumble and a rock that makes them fall;" they stumble because they disobey the wordas they were desstined to do.

³ And in their greed they will exploit you with false words; from long ago their condemnation has not been idle, and their destruction has not been asleep.

⁹ if all this is so, then the Lord knows how to rescue the godly from trials and to hold the unrighteous for punishment on the day of judgment.

¹¹ You are worthy, O Lord, to receive glory and honour and power: for you have created all things, and by your will they were created and have their being.

⁷ “You shall not misuse the name of the LORD your God, for the LORD will not hold him guiltless who misuses his name.

¹² "Look at every proud man and humble him, crush the wicked where they stand.

¹⁶ Here are six things that the LORD hates seven, in fact, are detestable to him: ¹⁷ haughty eyes, a lying tongue, hands that shed innocent blood;

¹³ The fear of the LORD is to hate evil. I hate: pride and arrogance and the evil way and the perverse mouth.

²¹ Be sure of this: the wicked will not go unpunished, but the descendants of the righteous will go free.

¹¹ Woe to the wicked. Disaster is upon them; for the work of his hands will be done to him.

⁸ But for those who are self-seeking and who reject the truth and follow wickedness, there will be wrath and anger. ⁹ There will be trouble and distress for every human being who does evil, first for the Jew, then for the Greek;

⁶ But He gives us more grace. This is why it says: “God opposes the proud, but gives grace to the humble.”

¹¹ And Abraham will say, For I said, Surely there is not the fear of God in this place; and they will kill me because of my wife.

⁹ So I said, "What you're doing isn't right! Shouldn't you live in the fear of our God to avoid shame from our foreign enemies?

¹⁵ But the former governors that were before me laid burdens upon the people, and took of them for bread and wine above forty shekels of silver; yea, even their servants lorded over the people; but so did not I, because of the fear of God.

¹ There was a man in the land of Uz, whose name was Job. That man was blameless and upright, and one who feared God, and turned away from evil. ² He had seven sons and three daughters. ³ He owned seven thousand sheep, three thousand camels, one thousand head of cattle, and five hundred donkeys. He also had a large number of servants. In fact he was the greatest (richest) of all the Orientals in the East! ⁴ And his sons used to go and hold a feast in the house of each one upon his day; and they would send and invite their three sisters to eat and to drink with them. ⁵ When their time of feasting had concluded, Job would rise early in the morning to send for them and consecrate them to God. He would offer a burnt offering for each one, because Job thought, "Perhaps my children sinned by cursing God in their hearts." Job did this time and again. ⁶ Now on the day when God's sons came to present themselves before the LORD, Satan also came among them. ⁷ So the LORD said to Satan, "From where have you come?" Then Satan answered the LORD and said, "From roaming on the earth and from walking about in it." ⁸ The LORD said to Satan, "Have you considered my servant, Job? For there is none like him in the earth, a blameless and an upright man, one who fears God, and turns away from evil."

²⁸ And he said unto man, Behold, the fear of the Lord, that is wisdom; and to eschew evil is understanding.

¹⁰ Mercy and truth have met together; righteousness and peace kissed each other .

¹⁶ A wise man fears, and shuns evil, but the fool is hotheaded and reckless.

²⁷ The fear of the LORD is a fountain of life, turning people from the snares of death.

²⁸ Gracious love and truth preserve a king; through love his throne is made secure.

²⁷ Therefore, your majesty, may my advice be acceptable to you: Stop your sinning, do what's right, and put a stop to your wickedness by showing kindness to the oppressed. Perhaps your tranquility will continue."

¹⁸ Who is a God like You, who pardons iniquity and passes by the transgression of the remnant of His heritage? He does not keep His anger forever, because He delights in mercy. ¹⁹ You will again have compassion on us. You will tread our iniquities under foot. You will throw all our sins into the depths of the sea. ²⁰ You will give truth to Jacob, and mercy to Abraham, as you have sworn to our fathers from the days of old.

⁴¹ So give what is inside to the poor, and then everything will be clean for you.

² He cuts off every branch in Me that bears no fruit, and every branch that does bear fruit, He prunes to make it even more fruitful.

⁹ He made no distinction between us and them, for he cleansed their hearts by faith.

¹ Since we have these promises, dear friends, let's cleanse ourselves from everything that contaminates body and spirit by becoming mature in our holy fear of God.

²¹ Submit to one another out of reverence for Christ.

²² Since you have purified your souls by obedience to the truth, so that you have a genuine love for your brothers, love one another deeply, from a pure heart.

⁴¹ So Esau bore a grudge against Jacob because of the blessing with which his father had blessed him. Esau said to himself: "The days of mourning for my father are near. Then I will kill my brother Jacob."

⁶ And the messengers returned to Jacob and said, "We came to your brother, to Esau, and he is coming to meet you, and four hundred men are with him." ⁷ Then Jacob was greatly afraid, and distressed: and he divided the people that were with him, and the flocks, and herds, and camels, into two bands;

²⁸ And he said, Your name will no longer be Jacob, but Israel: for in your fight with God and with men you have overcome.

⁴ But Esau ran to meet him, and embraced him, and fell upon his neck and kissed him, and they wept.

¹⁰ And the fear of the LORD fell on all the kingdoms of the lands around Judah, so that they did not make war against Jehoshaphat.

³¹ That will please the LORD more than oxen and bulls with horns and hooves.

¹¹ the LORD said: "I will certainly rescue you for a good. I will certainly make your enemies plead with you in times of evil and in times of distress.

¹ Meanwhile, Saul was still breathing out threats of murder against the Lord’s disciples. He went to the high priest ² He asked him for letters to the synagogues at Damascus, that if he found any there who belonged to The Way, men or women, he might bring them bound to Jerusalem.

¹⁹ and after taking some food, he regained his strength. And he spent several days with the disciples in Damascus. ²⁰ and at once he began to preach in their synagogues that Jesus is the Son of God.

³¹ What then shall we say in response to these things? If God is for us, who can be against us?

¹⁸ I have received full payment and even more; I am amply supplied, having received from Epaphroditus the gifts you sent, a fragrant offering, an acceptable sacrifice, pleasing to God.

¹⁰ so that you may walk in a manner worthy of the Lord and may please Him in every way: bearing fruit in every good work, growing in the knowledge of God,

²⁰ Children, obey your parents in everything, for this pleases the Lord.

²¹ equip you with every good thing to do His will. And may He accomplish in us what is pleasing in His sight through Jesus Christ, to whom be glory forever and ever. Amen.

²² and we receive from him whatever we ask, because we keep his commandments and do what pleases him.

¹⁶ Better is a little that the righteous has, than the abundance of many wicked.

¹⁶ Better is little, with the fear of the LORD, than great treasure with trouble.

⁶ A fortune gained by deceit is a fleeting vapor and a deadly snare. ⁷ The violence of the wicked will drive them away, because they refuse to do what is right.

¹¹ Like a partridge that hatches eggs it did not lay is one who amasses wealth without justice. In the middle of his days it will leave him, and at his end he will prove to be a fool."

¹⁰ Am I to let the stores of the evil-doer go out of my memory, and the short measure, which is cursed?

⁶ But godliness with contentment is great gain. ⁷ For we bring nothing into the world, and we can take nothing out of it. ⁸ But if we have food and clothing, we will be content with these. ⁹ But those who want to get rich fall into temptation and a snare and into many foolish and harmful desires that plunge men into ruin and destruction.

²³ The LORD ordereth a good man's going, and hath pleasure in his way.

³⁰ There is no wisdom nor understanding nor counsel against the LORD.

¹⁰ "I make known the end from the beginning, from ancient times, what is still to come. I say: 'My purpose will stand, and I will do all that I please.'

⁵ "'Is this the cup that my master drinks from and that he uses for telling the future? What you have done is evil!'"

¹⁵ Joseph said to them, “What deed is this that you have done? Don't you know that such a man as I can indeed do divination?”

¹⁸ When he sits on the throne of his kingdom, he must write for himself a copy of this law in a book, out of that which is before the priests, the Levites. ¹⁹ And it shall be with him, and he shall read it all the days of his life, so that he may learn to revere the LORD your God by diligently observing all the word of this law and these rules, ²⁰ And that his heart be not lifted up with pride over his brethren, nor decline to the right or to the left, that he and his sons may reign a long time over Israel.

³ The God of Israel said, the Rock of Israel spoke to me, 'One who rules over men righteously, who rules in the fear of God, ⁴ And as the light of morning he rises, A morning sun--no clouds! By the shining, by the rain, Tender grass of the earth!"

²⁸ And when all Israel heard of the judgment which the king had given, they feared the king; for they saw that the wisdom of God was in him, to exercise justice.

⁶ Your throne, O God, is forever and ever. A scepter of uprightness is the scepter of your kingdom. ⁷ You love righteousness and hate wickedness. Therefore God, your God, has anointed you from among your companions with festive oil.

¹ By Solomon. God, give the king your justice; your righteousness to the royal son. ² He will judge your people with righteousness, and your poor with justice. ³ The mountains shall bring prosperity to the people. The hills bring the fruit of righteousness. ⁴ May he defend the afflicted of the people and deliver the children of the poor, but crush the oppressor.

⁴ The King's strength also loves justice. You do establish equity. You execute justice and righteousness in Jacob.

¹² Kings detest wrong-doing, for through righteousness the throne is established. ¹³ Righteous lips are the delight of kings; they value one who speaks the truth.

¹ Behold, a king will reign in righteousness and rulers will rule in justice. ² And a man shall be as a hiding-place from the wind, and a covert from the storm; as brooks of water in a dry place, as the shadow of a great rock in a thirsty land.

⁵ "The days are coming," declares the LORD, "when I will raise up for David a righteous Branch. He will reign as king and act wisely and do justice and righteousness in the land. ⁶ In his days Judah will be saved, and Israel will dwell safely. This is his name by which he will be called: the LORD our righteousness.

⁴ They make promises, swearing falsely in making covenants. Therefore judgment springs up like poisonous weeds in the furrows of the field.

⁷ Ah, you who turn justice into wormwood and hurl righteousness to the ground!

¹² Do horses run on the rocky crags? Does one plow there with oxen? But you have turned justice into poison, and the fruit of righteousness into bitterness;

³⁵ Work no wickedness in judgment, in measurement, in weight, or in quantity. ³⁶ "'Use honest scales, honest weights, and honest measures. I am the LORD your God who brought you out of Egypt.

¹³ "Don't have different weights in your bag one heavy and one light. ¹⁴ Don't have different measuring devices in your house one large and one small. ¹⁵ You must have honest weights and measuring devices, so you may live long in the land that the LORD your God is about to give you,

¹ A false balance is an abomination to Yahweh, but accurate weights are his delight.

¹⁰ Differing weights and differing measures, both of them are an abomination to the LORD.

²³ The LORD detests differing weights, and dishonest scales are not pleasing.

¹⁰ Have true scales and a true ephah and a true bath.

⁷ A merchant has dishonest scales in his hand. He loves to defraud.

⁵ saying, 'When will the new moon be gone, that we may sell grain? And the Sabbath, that we may market wheat, making the ephah small, and the shekel large, and dealing falsely with balances of deceit;

¹¹ Shall I be pure with dishonest scales, and with a bag of deceitful weights?

¹⁶ For the Lord thy God abhorreth him that doth these things, and he hateth all injustice.

¹⁸ Make plans by seeking advice; make war by obtaining guidance.

⁵ remove the wicked from the king's presence, and his throne will be established in righteousness.

⁹ Whoever turns away from listening to the Law even his prayer is detestable.

¹⁴ If a king judges the poor in truth, His throne shall be established for the future."

⁴⁸ But the one who unknowingly does things worthy of punishment will be beaten with few blows. From everyone who has been given much, much will be required; and from him who has been entrusted with much, even more will be demanded.

¹¹ Then I saw heaven standing open, and there before me was a white horse. And its rider is called Faithful and True. With righteousness He judges and wages war.

⁵ Whoso slandereth his neighbour in secret, him will I destroy; whoso is haughty of eye and proud of heart, him will I not suffer. ⁶ My eyes will be upon the faithful of the land, that they may dwell with me. He who walks in a perfect way, he will minister to me. ⁷ He who practices deceit won't dwell within my house. He who speaks falsehood won't be established before my eyes.

³⁵ The king approves the wise servant, but he is angry at anyone who acts shamefully.

¹¹ He that loveth with a pure heart, and hath grace on his lips, will have the king as his friend.

³¹ He said, "May God do to me and more also! if the head of Shaphat's son Elisha remains on his shoulders today!" ³² But Elisha was sitting in his house, and the elders were sitting with him. Then the king sent a man from before him; but before the messenger came to him, he said to the elders, Do you see how this son of a murderer has sent to take away my head? When the messenger comes, shut the door, and hold it shut against him. Isn't the sound of his master's feet behind him? ³³ While he was still talking with them, look, the messenger came down to him. Then he said, "Look, this disaster is from the LORD. Why should I wait for the LORD any longer?"

¹¹ An evil [man] seeketh only rebellion; but a cruel messenger shall be sent against him.

¹² The king's wrath is like the roaring of a lion, but his favor is like dew on the grass.

² A king's anger is like a lion's roar; anyone who angers him forfeits his life.

⁴ If the anger of the ruler rises against you, do not leave your post, for calmness can undo great offenses.

¹³ Then ordered Nebuchadnezzar in rage and fury to bring Shadrach, Meshach, and ‘Abed-nego. Then were these men brought before the king. ¹⁴ Nebuchadnezzar said to them: "Is it true Shadrach, Meshach, and Abednego that you do not serve my god, nor worship the golden image that I set up? ¹⁵ "Now if you are ready at the time you hear the sound of the horn, flute, harp, zither, pipes, and all kinds of music, to fall down and worship the image that I have made, good! But if you do not worship it you will be thrown into the midst of a blazing furnace that same hour. What god will be able to rescue you from my hand?" ¹⁶ Shadrach, Meshach, and Abednego answered the king, “Nebuchadnezzar, we have no need to answer you in this matter. ¹⁷ "If it is so, our God whom we serve is able to deliver us from the blazing furnace. He will deliver us out of your hand, O king. ¹⁸ But if not, let it be known to you, O king, that we will not serve your gods or worship the golden image which you have set up.” ¹⁹ Out of control with rage, Nebuchadnezzar's facial expression changed toward Shadrach, Meshach, and Abednego, and he ordered that the furnace be heated seven times hotter than usual. ²⁰ He commanded the mighty men that were in his army to bind Shadrach, Meshach, and Abednego, and to throw them into the blazing furnace. ²¹ So these men were bound in their coats, hosen, shoes with their other garments, and cast into the hot burning oven. ²² Then, because the king's command was urgent, and the furnace exceedingly hot, the flame of the fire killed those men who took up Shadrach, Meshach, and Abednego. ²³ Bound firmly with ropes, these three men Shadrach, Meshach, and Abednego fell into the blazing fire furnace. ²⁴ Astonished, King Nebuchadnezzar stood up in terror, and asked his advisers, "Didn't we throw three men into the fire, bound firmly with ropes?" In reply they said to the king, "Yes, your majesty." ²⁵ He said: "Look, I see four men walking in the midst of the fire. They are not hurt! The appearance of the fourth is like a son of the gods!"

²⁷ So he immediately sent one of the guardsmen with orders to bring John's head. The soldier went and beheaded him in the prison

⁴ I tell you, My friends, do not be afraid of those who kill the body and after that can do no more. ⁵ But I will show you whom you should fear: Fear the One who, after you have been killed, has power to throw you into hell. Yes, I tell you, fear Him!

²⁰ Now Herod had become infuriated with the people of Tyre and Sidon, and they convened before him. Having secured the support of Blastus, the king’s chamberlain, they asked for peace, because their region depended on the king’s country for food.

²⁰ So then, we are Christ’s ambassadors, as though God were making His appeal through us. We implore you on Christ’s behalf: Be reconciled to God!

²³ They waited for me as for the rain. Their mouths drank as with the spring rain. ²⁴ Were I to laugh at them, they would not believe it; and the light of my face has not failed.

⁶ Many say, “Who will show us any good?” Yahweh, let the light of your face shine on us.

⁶ Indeed, you have given him eternal blessings; you will make him glad with the joy of your presence.

⁵ For His anger is only a moment; in His favor is life. Weeping may endure for a night, but joy comes in the morning.

⁶ May he descend like rain on mown grass, like showers watering the earth.

³ Let us acknowledge the LORD. Let us press on to know the LORD. As surely as the sun rises, The LORD will appear. He will come to us like the rain, like the spring rain that waters the earth."

¹ Ask of the LORD rain in the spring time, the LORD who makes storm clouds, and he gives rain showers to everyone for the plants in the field.

²⁸ You have made known to me the paths of life, You will fill me with joy in Your presence.’

¹³ Man does not know the price of it; nor is it found in the land of the living. ¹⁴ The deep says, It is not in me; and the sea says, It is not with me. ¹⁵ It can’t be gotten for gold, neither will silver be weighed for its price. ¹⁶ "It cannot be bought with the gold from Ophir or with precious onyx or sapphire. ¹⁷ "Neither gold nor crystal can equal its value. Nor can it be exchanged for jewelry of fine gold. ¹⁸ Corals and pearl are not remembered, The acquisition of wisdom is above rubies. ¹⁹ The topaz of Cush cannot be compared with it; it cannot be bought for pure gold. ²⁰ "Where does wisdom come from? Where does understanding live? ²¹ "It is hidden from the eyes of all the living, concealed from the birds in the air. ²² Destruction and Death say, 'We have heard a rumor of it with our ears.' ²³ "God understands the way to it. He knows where it lives ²⁴ For He looks to the ends of the earth; He sees everything under the heavens. ²⁵ He establishes the force of the wind. Yes, he measures out the waters by measure. ²⁶ when he made rules for the rain and set paths for the thunderstorms, ²⁷ then he saw it and announced it. He confirmed it and examined it. ²⁸ And he said unto man, Behold, the fear of the Lord, that is wisdom; and to eschew evil is understanding.

¹²⁷ Therefore I love your commandments more than gold, yes, more than pure gold.

¹⁵ She is more precious than rubies, and nothing you desire compares with her. ¹⁶ Long life is in her right hand. In her left hand are riches and honor. ¹⁷ Her ways are pleasant ways, and all her paths are peaceful. ¹⁸ She is a tree of life to those who lay hold of her, and those who hold on to her are blessed

⁷ Wisdom is supreme. Get wisdom. Yes, though it costs all your possessions, get understanding.

¹⁰ Receive my instruction rather than silver, knowledge rather than choice gold. ¹¹ because wisdom is better than precious gems and nothing you desire can compare to it."

¹⁹ My fruit is better than gold, even refined gold, and my yield than choice silver.

¹² Wisdom is a shelter just as money is a shelter. The advantage of knowledge is that wisdom gives lift to those who have it.

²⁶ What good will it be for a man if he gains the whole world, and forfeits his soul? Or what can a man give in exchange for his soul?

²¹ This is how it will be for anyone who stores up treasure for himself but is not rich toward God.”

²⁴ Put away from yourself a perverse mouth. Put corrupt lips far from you. ²⁵ Let your eyes look straight ahead, fix your gaze directly before you. ²⁶ Make straight paths for your feet, and order your ways rightly. ²⁷ Do not turn to the right or to the left. Remove your foot from evil.

⁹ He who walks in integrity walks securely, but he who perverts his ways shall be found out.

¹⁶ He who obeys the commandment saves his life. But he who is careless of his ways will die.

⁸ And a highway will be there, and it will be called the Way of Holiness. The unclean shall not pass over it, but it will be for those who walk in the Way. Wicked fools will not go there.

¹³ but those who stand firm to the End shall be saved.

³⁵ but welcomes those from every nation who fear Him and do what is right.

¹⁶ Therefore I strive always to have a clear conscience before God and men.

¹⁰ and not to steal, but to show that they can be fully trusted, so that in everything they will adorn the doctrine of God our Savior. ¹¹ For the grace of God that brings salvation has appeared to all men, ¹² It trains us to renounce ungodliness and worldly passions, and to live self-controlled, upright, and Godly lives in this present age, ¹³ Looking for the blessed hope, the glorious appearing of our great God and Saviour Jesus Christ; ¹⁴ who gave himself for us to redeem us from all wickedness and to purify for himself a people that are his very own, zealous for good deeds.

³⁹ But we are not of those who shrink back and are destroyed, but of those who have faith and keep their souls.

²¹ Keep yourselves in the love of God, waiting for the mercy of our Lord Jesus Christ to bring you to eternal life.

²⁴ Now to Him who is able to keep them from stumbling and to present them before His glorious presence without fault and with exultation—

¹⁰ Because you have kept My command to endure with patience, I will also keep you from the hour of testing that is about to come upon the whole world, to test those who dwell on the earth.

⁵ When Haman saw that Mordecai would not kneel and bow down to him, he flew into a rage.

⁶ After Haman came in, the king asked him, "What should be done for the man whom the king desires to honor?" Haman said to himself, "Whom would the king desire to honor more than me?"

¹⁰ Then they hanged Haman on the gallows that he had prepared for Mordecai. And the king's fury subsided.

² When pride comes, then comes shame, but with humility comes wisdom.

¹⁹ He who loves disobedience loves strife. One who builds a high gate seeks destruction.

¹² Before shattering, a man's heart is haughty, but humility goes before honor.

²³ A man's pride brings him low, but one of lowly spirit gains honor.

¹¹ The lofty looks of man shall be humbled, and the pride of men shall be bowed down, and the LORD alone shall be exalted in that day. ¹² For the day of the LORD Almighty shall be on all the proud and lofty ones, and on all that is lifted up; and it will be abased;

¹⁰ "Say to Hezekiah king of Judah: 'Do not let your God in whom you trust deceive you. He says to you: "Jerusalem will not be given into the hand of the king of Assyria." ¹¹ »‘You have heard what the kings of Assyria have done to all the countries. He destroyed them completely. And will you be delivered? ¹² "'Did the gods of the nations that were destroyed by my forefathers deliver them? And what about the gods of Gozan, Haran, Rezeph and the people of Eden who were in Tel Assar? ¹³ "'Where is the king of Hamath, the king of Arpad, the king of the city of Sepharvaim, or of Hena or Ivvah?'"

³⁸ One day, while he was worshiping in the temple of his god Nisroch, his sons Adrammelech and Sharezer cut him down with the sword. They escaped to the land of Ararat. Esarhaddon his son succeeded him as king.

³⁰ The king spoke: "Is this not great Babylon, which I have built for the royal dwelling-place, by the might of my power and for the glory of my majesty?" ³¹ The word was still in the king's voice when a voice fell from the heaven, saying, O king Nebuchadnezzar, to you it is declared: The kingdom has been taken from you! ³² You're to be driven away from people. You're to live with the wild animals of the field. You shall be made to eat grass like cattle, and seven years will pass you by until you realize that the Most High is sovereign over human kingdoms and grants them to whomever he desires.' ³³ The decree was fulfilled against Nebuchadnezzar immediately. He was driven away from people to eat grass like cattle, and his body was drenched with dew from the sky, until his hair grew like eagles' feathers and his nails like birds' claws." ³⁴ "At the end of the days I, Nebuchadnezzar, lifted up my eyes to heaven and my understanding returned to me. I blessed the Most High and I praised and honored the one who lives forever. His dominion is an everlasting dominion, and his kingdom from generation to generation. ³⁵ And all the people of the earth are as nothing: he does his pleasure in the army of heaven and among the people of the earth: and no one is able to keep back his hand, or say to him, What are you doing? ³⁶ At that moment I recovered my sanity, and my honor and majesty returned to me, for the sake of my kingdom. My advisors and officials sought me out, my throne was restored, and even more greatness than I had before was added to me. ³⁷ Now I Nebuchadnezzar praise and exalt and honor the King of heaven, all whose works are truth and His ways judgment. And those who walk in pride He is able to humble.

²² And you his son, O Belshazzar, have not humbled your heart, though you knew all this.

²⁴ Therefore, the hand that wrote this inscription was sent from his presence.

³ The pride of your heart has deceived you, you who live in the clefts of a rock, the heights of its dwelling, you who say in your heart: 'Who can bring me down to the ground?' ⁴ Even if you soar like the eagle, even if your nest is set among the stars, from there I will bring you down!" declares the LORD:

³³ Peter said to Him, “Even if all fall away on account of You, I never will.” ³⁴ "I tell you," replied Jesus, "that this very night, before the cock crows, you will disown me three times!" ³⁵ Peter says to Him, “Even if I have to die with you, I will not deny you!” And all the other disciples said the same.

⁷⁴ Then he began to invoke a curse on himself and to swear, "I do not know the man." And immediately the rooster crowed.

²⁰ That is correct: They were broken off because of unbelief, but you stand by faith. Do not be arrogant, but be afraid.

⁶ He must not be a recent convert, or he may become conceited and fall under the same condemnation as the devil.

⁹ The enemy said, I will pursue, I will overtake, I will divide the spoil; my soul shall be filled with them; I will draw my sword; my hand will destroy them.

¹⁸ the LORD is near to the broken-hearted; and saves those who are of a contrite spirit.

⁶ Though the LORD is high, yet He looks upon the lowly; but the proud He knows from afar.

³ You have enlarged the nation and increased their joy. They rejoice before you as people rejoice at the harvest, as men rejoice when dividing the plunder.

⁶ "I send him against a godless nation. I commission him against the people of my fury to capture booty and to seize plunder, and to trample them down like mud (clay) in the streets.

¹³ For he has said, “By the strength of my hand I have done it, and by my wisdom; for I have understanding. I have removed the boundaries of the peoples, and have robbed their treasures. Like a valiant man I have brought down their rulers. ¹⁴ and my hand found, as a nest, the valuables of the people: and as one gathers abandoned eggs, I gathered all the earth; and no one flapped the wing or gaped the mouth or chirped. ¹⁵ Shall the axe boast itself against him who hews with it? Shall the saw magnify itself against him who wields it? As if a rod should wield those who lift it up, [or] as if a staff should lift up [him who is] not wood.

¹² Therefore I will divide him a portion with the great and he will divide the spoil with the strong, because he poured out his soul to death and was numbered with the transgressors. Yet he bore the sin of many and made intercession for the transgressors.

¹⁵ For thus says the high and lofty one who resides forever, and whose name is holy: "I reside in a high and holy place, and with the contrite and humble of spirit, to revive the spirit of the humble, and to revive the heart of the contrite.

³ "Blessed are the poor in spirit: for theirs is the kingdom of heaven.

⁵¹ He has performed mighty deeds with His arm; He has scattered those who are proud in the thoughts of their hearts. ⁵² He has brought down rulers from their thrones, but has exalted the humble. ⁵³ He has filled the hungry with good things, but has sent the rich away empty.

¹³ But the tax-collector stood at a distance and would not even lift his eyes to heaven, but continued to beat his breast, and say, 'O God, have mercy on me, a sinner!' ¹⁴ I tell you, this man, rather than the Pharisee, went home justified. For everyone who exalts himself will be humbled, but the one who humbles himself will be exalted.”

³⁸ And Pharaoh said to his servants, Can we find any man like this, in whom is the Spirit of God? ³⁹ Then Pharaoh said to Joseph, "Since God has made all of this known to you there is no one as discerning and wise as you. ⁴⁰ You shall be over my house, and to your word all my people shall submit. Only with respect to the throne will I be greater than you."

²⁰ They were helped in fighting them, and God handed the Hagrites and all their allies over to them, because they cried out to him during the battle. He answered their prayers, because they trusted in him.

¹² Kiss the Son, lest he be angry and you be destroyed in your way, for his wrath can flare up in a moment. Blessed (happy) are all who take refuge (put trust) in him.

⁸ Taste and see that the LORD is good; blessed is the man who takes refuge in him.

¹ A song of ascents. Those who trust in the LORD are like Mount Zion, which cannot be moved, but abides forever.

⁵ Blessed is he whose helper is the God of Jacob, whose hope is in the Lord his God:

³⁵ For whoever finds me, finds life, and will obtain favor from the LORD.

¹⁵ Good understanding wins favor, but the way of the unfaithful is hard.

² A wise servant will rule over a son who causes shame and share the inheritance among the brothers.

⁸ He who gets wisdom loves his own soul; he who keeps understanding shall find good.

¹⁹ That your trust may be in the LORD, I teach you today, even you. ²⁰ Have I not written for you 30 sayings containing counsel and knowledge,

³ By wisdom a house is built; and by understanding it is established. ⁴ by knowledge the rooms are filled with all rare and beautiful treasure. ⁵ A wise man is strong; and a man of knowledge increaseth strength.

³ You will keep him in perfect peace, whose mind is stayed on you: because he trusts in you. ⁴ "Trust in the LORD forever, for Jah, the LORD, is the Rock eternal.

¹⁸ the LORD is waiting to be kind to you. He rises to have compassion on you. the LORD is a God of justice. Blessed are all those who wait for him.

⁷ Blessed is the man who trusts in the LORD, and whose confidence is in the LORD. ⁸ "For he will be like a tree planted by the water. It extends its roots by a stream and will not fear when the heat comes. Its leaves will be green. It will not be anxious in a year of drought nor cease to yield fruit.

¹⁹ The king talked with them; and among them all was found none like Daniel, Hananiah, Mishael, and Azariah: therefore they entered the king's service. ²⁰ In every matter of wisdom and understanding about which the king enquired of them, he found them ten times better than all the magicians and enchanters who were in all his kingdom. ²¹ And Daniel continued even unto the first year of King Cyrus.

²⁸ Nebuchadnezzar spoke up and said: 'Blessed be the God of Shadrach, Meshach and Abednego! He sent his angel to deliver his servants who trusted in him. They disobeyed the king's command and were willing to risk their lives in order not to serve or worship any god except their own God.

²³ The king was very happy. He commanded that they take Daniel out of the den. So Daniel was taken out of the den, and no manner of hurt was found on him, because he trusted in his God.

¹⁶ Look, I am sending you out like sheep among wolves; therefore be as shrewd as snakes and as innocent as doves.

¹² in order that we, who were the first to hope in Christ, would be for the praise of his glory. ¹³ In him, you also have heard the word of truth, the gospel of your salvation. Having also believed, you were sealed in him with the promised Holy Spirit,

¹² "I will do what you have asked. I will give you more wisdom and understanding than anyone has ever had. There has never been nor will ever be anyone like you.

² You are the most excellent of the sons of men. Grace has anointed your lips, therefore God has blessed you forever.

⁸ The wise in heart accept commandments, but a chattering fool will fall.

⁷ The lips of the wise spread knowledge; not so with the heart of fools.

²³ A wise person's thoughts control his words, and his speech promotes instruction. ²⁴ Pleasant words are a honeycomb, sweet to the soul, and health to the bones.

¹⁵ My son, if your heart is wise, then my heart will be glad, even mine.

⁹ Perfume and incense will gladden a heart, and the pleasantness of one's friend is ⌊personal advice⌋.

¹⁰ The Teacher searched to find appropriate expressions, and what is written here is right and truthful.

⁴ The Sovereign LORD has given Me the tongue of the learned, to know to help the weary with a word. He wakens morning by morning, He wakens the ear to hear as the learned.

²² All spoke well of Him and marveled at the gracious words that came from His lips. “Isn’t this the son of Joseph?” they asked.

⁴⁶ "No man has ever spoken the way he speaks," they replied.

¹⁹ Everyone has heard about your obedience, so I rejoice over you. But I want you to be wise about what is good and innocent about what is evil.

¹⁷ But the wisdom from above is first of all pure, then peaceable, gentle, accommodating, full of mercy and good fruit, impartial, and sincere.

¹¹ The mouth of the righteous is a fountain of life: but violence covereth the mouth of the wicked

¹⁴ The teaching of the wise is a fountain of life, turning men away from the nets of death.

² The tongue of the wise commends knowledge, but the mouth of fools gush out folly.

²⁸ The heart of the righteous weighs answers, but the mouth of the wicked gushes out evil.

⁴ The words of a man`s mouth are deep waters, [and] the fountain of wisdom is a gushing brook.

¹⁴ Disregard them! They are blind guides. If a blind man leads a blind man, both will fall into a pit.”

¹⁶ Woe to you, blind guides! You say, ‘If anyone swears by the temple, it means nothing; but if anyone swears by the gold of the temple, he is bound by his oath.’ ¹⁷ You blind fools! Which is greater: the gold, or the temple that makes it sacred? ¹⁸ And you say, ‘If anyone swears by the altar, it means nothing; but if anyone swears by the gift on it, he is bound by his oath.’ ¹⁹ You blind men! For which is greater, the gift or the altar that makes the gift sacred? ²⁰ Therefore, he who swears by the altar swears by it and by everything on it. ²¹ And he who swears by the temple swears by it and by the One who dwells in it. ²² And he who swears by heaven swears by God’s throne and by the One who sits on it. ²³ Woe to you, scribes and Pharisees, you hypocrites! You pay tithes of mint, dill, and cumin, but you have disregarded the weightier matters of the Law: justice, mercy, and faithfulness. You should have practiced the latter, without neglecting the former. ²⁴ You blind guides! You strain out a gnat but swallow a camel. ²⁵ Woe to you, scribes and Pharisees, you hypocrites! You clean the outside of the cup and dish, but inside they are full of greed and self-indulgence. ²⁶ Blind Pharisee, first wash clean the inside of the cup or dish, and then the outside will be clean also.

³⁹ He also told them a parable: "Can a blind man lead a blind man? Will they not both fall into a pit? ⁴⁰ A disciple is not above his teacher, but everyone who is fully trained will be like his teacher.

²⁴ Truly, truly, I tell you, whoever hears My word and believes Him who sent Me has eternal life and will not come under judgment. Indeed, he has crossed over from death to life.

⁶³ The Spirit gives life; the flesh profits nothing. The words I have spoken to you are spirit and they are life.

⁶⁸ Simon Peter answered him, "Lord, to whom shall we go? You have the words of eternal life.

³⁰ The mouth of the righteous uttereth wisdom, and his tongue speaketh what is just. ³¹ The law of his God is in his heart; his steps do not slide.

¹ My heart overflows with a noble theme. I recite my verses for the king. My tongue is like the pen of a skillful writer.

¹⁷ Pay attention and listen to the words of the wise, and apply your heart to my teaching, ¹⁸ For it is a delight to keep them in your heart, to have them ready on your lips.

³⁴ You brood of vipers, how can you who are evil say anything good? For out of the overflow of the heart, the mouth speaks. ³⁵ The good man brings good things out of his good store of treasure, and the evil man brings evil things out of his evil store of treasure.

¹⁶ Let the word of Christ richly dwell within you as you teach and admonish one another with all wisdom, and as you sing psalms, hymns, and spiritual songs with gratitude in your hearts to God.

² May my teaching trickle like the dew, my words like rain showers on tender grass, and like spring showers on new growth.

¹⁰ They are more precious than gold, even much fine gold, and sweeter than honey and drops from the honeycomb.

¹⁰³ How sweet are your words to my taste! Sweeter than honey to my mouth!

⁸ This will bring healing to your body, and refreshment to your bones.

²² For they are life to those who find them, and health to their whole body.

¹⁸ The babbler is like the stabs of a sword; and the tongue of the wise is healing.

²³ A man has joy by the answer of his mouth, and how good is a word in its season!

²⁶ The LORD detests the thoughts of the wicked, but the thoughts of the pure are pleasing.

¹⁶ My innermost being will be glad when your lips speak what is right.

¹³ Eat honey, my son, for it is good; and a honeycomb is sweet to thy taste: ¹⁴ Thus know wisdom for the sake of your soul, if you find it, then there is a future, and your hope will not be cut off.

¹¹ A word fitly spoken is like apples of gold in settings of silver. ¹² As an earring of gold, and an ornament of fine gold, so is a wise provider to a listening ear.

¹¹ Your lips drop sweetness as the honeycomb, O bride; Honey and milk are under your tongue, And the scent of your raiment is like the scent of Lebanon."

¹⁶ But to me your word is a joy, making my heart glad; for I am named by your name, O Lord God of armies.

¹⁹ On the evening of that day, the first day of the week, the doors being shut where the disciples were, for fear of the Jews, Jesus came and stood among them and said to them, "Peace be with you." ²⁰ And when he had said this, he showed them his hands and his side. The disciples were overjoyed when they saw the Lord. ²¹ Again Jesus said to them, “Peace be with you. As the Father has sent Me, so also I am sending you.”

¹⁵ The ways of fools are straight before them; but the wise listens to advice.

²⁶ A righteous person is cautious in friendship, but the way of the wicked leads them astray.

¹² There is a way which seems right to a man, but in the end it leads to death.

¹⁵ Because ye have said, “We have entered into a covenant with death, and with the nether world have we made an agreement; the overflowing scourge, when it passeth by, shall not come at us; for we have made lies our refuge, and under falsehood have we sought a hiding-place.” ¹⁶ Therefore the Sovereign LORD says this: "Look! I am laying a stone in Zion, a tested stone, a precious cornerstone, a founded foundation: 'The one who trusts will not panic.' ¹⁷ I will make justice the measuring line, and righteousness the plumb line. The hail will sweep away the refuge of lies, and the waters will overflow the hiding place. ¹⁸ "Your covenant with death will be annulled. Your agreement with the grave will not stand when the overflowing scourge passes through. Then you will be trampled down by it. ¹⁹ As often as it passes through, it will take you, for morning by morning it will pass through, in the day and in the night, and understanding the message will be only terror."

⁴⁷ "What! Have you been led astray too?" the Pharisees replied. ⁴⁸ Has any of the rulers, or of the Pharisees, believed on him? ⁴⁹ But this mob that does not know the law they're under a curse!"

⁴⁰ Some of the Pharisees who were with Him heard this, and they asked Him, “Are we blind too?”

⁹ So then, I too was convinced that I ought to do all I could to oppose the name of Jesus of Nazareth.

⁵ Examine yourselves to see whether you are in the faith; test yourselves. Do you not realize that Christ Jesus is in youunless, indeed, you fail the test?

¹² If you are wise, your wisdom will assist you. If you mock, you alone will be held responsible.

²³ In all hard work there is profit, but the talk of the lips leads only to poverty.

⁷ All of a man's toil is for his mouth— yet his appetite is never satisfied.

¹¹ Make it your ambition to lead a quiet life, to mind your own business and to work with your hands, just as we told you, ¹² so that your daily life may win the respect of outsiders and so that you will not be dependent on anyone.

⁸ nor did we eat anyone’s food without paying for it. Instead, in labor and toil, we worked night and day so that we would not be a burden to any of you. ⁹ We did this, not because we do not have the right to such help, but in order to make ourselves an example for you to follow. ¹⁰ For even when we were with you, we gave you this rule: "If anyone will not work, he shall not eat." ¹¹ For we hear of some that walk among you disorderly, that work not at all, but are busybodies ¹² Such we command and urge in the Lord Jesus Christ to work quietly and eat their own bread.

¹⁷ Now, therefore, know and consider what thou must do, for evil is determined against our master and against all his household, for he is such a son of Belial that no one can speak to him.

¹ And there happened to be an unthrifty fellow named Sheba, the son of Bichri a man of Benjamin which blew a trumpet and said, "We have no part in David, nor inheritance in the son of Jesse, O Israel.

¹⁴ from men by your hand, Yahweh, from men of the world, whose portion is in this life. You fill the belly of your cherished ones. Your sons have plenty, and they store up wealth for their children. ¹⁵ By contrast, I in righteousness shall see your face. Upon awakening I will be satisfied seeing your form.

² Your tongue devises woes, Like a honed razor, you who practice deceit." ³ You love evil more than good, lying rather than speaking the truth. Selah. ⁴ You love all pernicious words, O you deceitful tongue."

⁴ My soul is among lions; I lie among those on fire, the sons of men, whose teeth are spears and arrows, and their tongue a sharp sword.

⁴ If you seek it as for silver And search for it as for buried treasures,

¹² A worthless human, a lawless man Is one who goes about with a perverse mouth,

¹⁴ planning evil with a perverse mind, continually stirring up discord.

¹⁸ Woe to those who draw iniquity with cords of falsehood, and wickedness as with cart rope,

¹³ "Is it for the LORD Almighty that the peoples labor for the fire? Do the nations weary themselves for vanity?

⁶ The tongue also is a fire, a world of wickedness among the parts of the body. It pollutes the whole person, sets the course of his life on fire, and is itself set on fire by hell.

¹ Now the serpent was craftier than any of the wild animals the LORD God had made. He said to the woman: "Did God really say, you must not eat from any tree in the garden?" ² The woman said to the serpent: "We may eat fruit from the trees in the garden. ³ '"However, God did say: 'You must not eat fruit from the tree that is in the middle of the garden. They sewed fig leaves together and made coverings for themselves. ⁸ The man and his wife heard the sound (voice) of the LORD God as he was walking in the garden in the cool of the day. They hid from the LORD, among the trees of the garden. ⁹ But the LORD God called to the man: "Where are you?" ¹⁰ He (Adam) answered: "I heard you in the garden, and I was afraid because I was naked; so I hid." ¹¹ And he said: "Who told you that you were naked? Have you eaten from the tree that I commanded you not to eat from?" ¹² Adam said: "The woman you put here with me gave me some fruit from the tree, and I ate it." ¹³ The LORD God said to the woman, "What is this you have done?" The woman said, "The serpent deceived me, and I ate."

⁹ David said to Saul, Why do you listen when men say 'David is trying to harm you?'.

²⁹ They have become filled with every kind of wickedness, evil, greed, and hatred. They are full of envy, murder, strife, deceit, and malice. They are gossips,

²⁰ For I am afraid that when I come I may not find you what I wish you to be, and you may not find me what you wish me to be; I fear that there may be quarreling, jealousy, outbursts of anger, factions, slander, gossip, arrogance and disorder.

³ If anyone teaches another doctrine and disagrees with the sound words of our Lord Jesus Christ and with godly teaching, ⁴ he is conceited and understands nothing. Instead, he has an unhealthy interest in controversies and semantics, out of which come envy, strife, abusive talk, evil suspicions, ⁵ and constant friction between men of depraved mind and deprived of the truth, who imagine that godliness is a means of gain.

¹⁴ But if you have bitter jealousy and selfish ambition in your hearts, do not boast in it or deny the truth. ¹⁵ Such wisdom does not come from above, but is earthly, unspiritual, demonic. ¹⁶ For where there is jealousy and selfish ambition, there is disorder and every evil practice.

¹¹ Saul sent messengers to David's house to watch him and to kill him in the morning. Michal, David's wife, told him, If you don't save your life tonight, tomorrow you will be killed.

¹⁷ Saul said to Michal, Why have you deceived me like this and let my enemy go, so that he has escaped? Michal answered Saul, He said to me, 'Let me go! Why should I kill you?'.

⁷ Saul said to them, Listen now, you Benjamites! Will the son of Jesse give each of you fields and vineyards? Will he make you all captains of thousands and captains of hundreds? ⁸ Is that why all of you have conspired against me so that there is no-one who tells me when my son makes a treaty with the son of Jesse, and there is none of you who is sorry for me or tells me that my son has stirred up my servant against me, to lie in wait, as he does today? ⁹ Then Doeg the Edomite, who stood by the servants of Saul, said: I saw the son of Jesse coming to Nob, to Ahimelech the son of Ahitub.

³¹ Do not envy the cruel man, and choose none of his ways.

¹⁷ Therefore, beloved, since you already know these things, be on your guard not to be carried away by the error of the lawless and fall from your secure standing.

¹⁰ He who winks with the eye causes sorrow. And a prating fool shall fall.

²⁷ An ungodly man plots evil, and his lips are like a burning fire.

¹⁰ Make the heart of this people fat, and make their ears heavy, and shut their eyes, lest they see with their eyes, and hear with their ears, and understand with their heart, and turn, and be healed.

³ Their hands are on that which is evil to do it diligently. The ruler and judge ask for a bribe; and the powerful man dictates the evil desire of his soul. Thus they conspire together.

¹⁵ For this people’s heart has grown callous; they hardly hear with their ears, and they have closed their eyes. Otherwise they might see with their eyes, hear with their ears, understand with their hearts, and turn, and I would heal them.’

I will restore it to you.” ⁴ They said, "You haven't cheated us or oppressed us, and you haven't taken anything from anyone's hand." ⁵ He said to them, "The LORD is witness against you, and his anointed is witness this day, that you have not found anything in my hand." They said, "He is witness."

¹⁰ and blessed the Lord in the presence of the assembly, saying, Blessed art thou Lord God of Israel, our Father, from everlasting to everlasting. ¹¹ Yours, O Lord, is the strength and the power and the glory, and the authority and the honour: for everything in heaven and on earth is yours; yours is the kingdom, O Lord, and you are lifted up as head over all. ¹² Wealth and honour come from you, and you are ruler over all, and in your hand is power and strength; it is in your power to make great, and to give strength to all. ¹³ "Now, our God, we give you thanks, and we praise your glorious name. ¹⁴ But who am I, and what is my people, that we should be able to offer so willingly as this? For all things come from you, and we have given you of your own. ¹⁵ For we are aliens and vagrants in your presence, as were all of our ancestors. Our days on the earth pass away like shadows, and we have no hope. ¹⁶ O LORD our God, all this abundance that we have provided to build for you a house for your holy name is from your hand, and all of it is yours. ¹⁷ And I know, my God, that You try the heart and are pleased with uprightness; I, in the uprightness of my heart, have offered willingly all these things; and now I have watched with joy Your people who are present here offering willingly to You. ¹⁸ "the LORD, God of our ancestors Abraham, Isaac, and Israel, keep such devotion always strong in your people’s hearts and keep them always faithful to you. ¹⁹ Grant to Solomon my son a heart of peace to keep your commands, your statutes, and your regulations to do everything, and to build the citadel for which I have provided." ²⁰ And David said to all the assembly, Now praise the LORD your God. And all the assembly praised the LORD, the God of their fathers and bowed down their heads and bowed-down to the LORD and the king. ²¹ And they sacrificed sacrifices unto the LORD, and offered burnt offerings unto the LORD, on the next day, even a thousand bullocks, a thousand rams, and a thousand lambs, with their drink offerings, and sacrifices in abundance for all Israel: ²² And they ate and drank before the LORD on that day with great joy, and made Solomon the son of David king a second time, and anointed him before the LORD as ruler, and Zadok as priest. ²³ So Solomon sat on the throne of the LORD as king in the place of his father David. He prospered, and all of Israel obeyed him. ²⁴ And all the officials and mighty warriors, and also all the sons of King David, pledged allegiance to King Solomon. ²⁵ The LORD magnified Solomon exceedingly in the sight of all Israel, and bestowed on him such royal majesty as had not been on any king before him in Israel.

⁶ Elihu son of Barachel the Buzite answered: "I am young in years, and you are aged; therefore I was timid and afraid to declare my opinion to you. ⁷ I said, 'Days should speak, and multitude of years should teach wisdom.'

¹ My son, do not forget my teaching; but let your heart keep my commandments: ² for they will add to you length of days, years of life, and peace.

⁶ Children's children are a crown of the aged, and the fathers are the honour of the children.

²⁹ The glory of young men is their strength; and the splendor of elders is their gray hair.

¹³ Better is a poor but wise youth than an old and foolish king, who knoweth no more how to be admonished.

She never left the temple, but worshiped night and day, fasting and praying. ³⁸ Coming forward at that moment, she gave thanks to God and spoke about the Child to all who were waiting for the redemption of Jerusalem.

⁹ I prefer to appeal to you on the ground of love. Well then, as Paul the old man, who now-a-days is a prisoner for Christ Jesus,

⁸ the LORD is compassionate and gracious, slow to anger and abundant in loyal love.

²⁹ He who is slow to anger has great understanding, but he who has a quick temper displays folly.

¹⁹ It is better to be lowly of spirit with the humble Than to apportion loot with the proud.

¹¹ The discretion of a man makes him slow to anger. It is his glory to overlook an offense.

²⁸ A city breached, without walls that's what a man is who has no self-control.

²¹ Do not be overcome by evil, but overcome evil with good.

¹ Be imitators of God, therefore, as beloved children,

¹⁹ My beloved brothers, understand this: Everyone should be quick to listen, slow to speak, and slow to anger,

²¹ To him who overcomes I will grant the right to sit with me on my throne, just as I overcame, and sat down with my Father on his throne.

⁵⁵ But the land shall be divided by lot. They shall inherit according to the names of the tribes of their fathers. ⁵⁶ Their inheritance must be divided according to the lot between the larger and smaller groups." ⁵⁷ These were the mustered ones of the Levites by their families:through Gershon the Gershonite family; through Kohath the Kohathite family; through Merari the Merarite family. ⁵⁸ These were the families of Levi: the Libnite family, the Hebronite family, the Mahlite family, the Mushite family, and the Korahite family. Kohath was the ancestor of Amram. ⁵⁹ The name of Amram's wife was Jochebed, a descendant of Levi, who was born in Egypt. She gave birth to Amram's children: Aaron, Moses, and their sister Miriam. ⁶⁰ Aaron was the father of Nadab, Abihu, Eleazar, and Ithamar. ⁶¹ Yet Nadab and Abihu died when they offered alien fire before the LORD. ⁶² The total number of all the Levite males at least one month old was twenty-three thousand. They were not counted along with the other Israelites, because they were given no land of their own. ⁶³ These were the ones counted by Moses and Eleazar the priest, who counted the Israelites on the desert-plateau of Moab on the Jordan across Jericho. ⁶⁴ And among these there was not a man of those counted by Moses and Aaron the priest, who counted the Israelites in the desert of Sinai. ⁶⁵ for the LORD had said to them that they would die, yea die in the wilderness. And not a man of them was left save Caleb son of Jephunneh and Joshua son of Nun.

¹⁴ "Tomorrow morning you shall come forward tribe by tribe. The tribe that the LORD selects shall come forward by clans, the clan that the LORD selects shall come forward by households, and the household that the LORD selects shall come forward one by one.

⁵ They'll divide it seven ways. Judah will stay in its territory on the south and the house of Joseph will remain in its territory on the north.

¹⁰ And Joshua cast lots for them in Shiloh before the LORD. And there Joshua divided the land to the sons of Israel according to their divisions.

⁴¹ Therefore Saul said to the LORD, the God of Israel, Show the right. And Jonathan and Saul were taken by lot, but the people escaped. ⁴² And Saul said: (Cast lots between me, and Jonathan, my son. And Jonathan was taken.

¹ And the rulers of the people lived at Jerusalem. And the rest of the people cast lots, to bring one of every ten to live in Jerusalem, the holy city, and nine parts in other cities.

¹⁸ The lot settles disputes, and keeps strong ones apart.

²⁶ Many are seeking the face of the ruler, and from the LORD a man's judgment

⁷ The sailors said to each other, "Come, and let us cast lots, that we may know whom to blame for this evil." So they cast lots, and the lot fell upon Jonah.

²⁶ Then they cast lots, and the lot fell to Matthias; so he was added to the eleven apostles.
