¹³ Blessed is the man who finds wisdom, the man who gets understanding.

¹ When the queen of Sheba heard of the fame of Solomon concerning the name of the LORD, she came to test him with hard questions. ² She came to Jerusalem with a very great caravan, with camels that bore spices, very much gold, and precious stones; and when she had come to Solomon, she talked with him about all that was in her heart. ³ Solomon answered all her questions. Nothing was hidden from the king that he did not explain to her. ⁴ And the queen of Sheba saw all the wisdom of Solomon, and the house which he built, ⁵ the food of his table, the seating of his servants, the attendance of his waiters and their attire, his cupbearers, and his stairway by which he went up to the house of the LORD, she was overwhelmed. ⁶ She said to the king: "The report I heard in my country about your acts and your wisdom was true. ⁷ But I did not believe it until I came, and my eyes have seen that not even the half was told me. Thy wisdom and good exceeds the fame which I heard. ⁸ Happy are your men, happy are these your servants, who stand continually before you, who hear your wisdom. ⁹ Blessed is the LORD your God, who delighted in you, to set you on the throne of Israel. Because of the LORD's everlasting love for Israel, therefore he made you king, to do justice and righteousness."

²³ King Solomon was greater than all the kings of the earth in wealth and in wisdom. ²⁴ All the earth sought the presence of Solomon, to hear his wisdom, which God had put in his heart.

⁴ If you seek it as for silver And search for it as for buried treasures,

⁵ Get wisdom. Get understanding. Do not forget, neither swerve from the words of my mouth. ⁶ "Do not abandon her, and she will protect you. Love her, and she will watch over you. ⁷ Wisdom is supreme. Get wisdom. Yes, though it costs all your possessions, get understanding. ⁸ "Love wisdom and she will exalt you. Embrace wisdom and she will honor you. ⁹ She will put a crown of grace on your head, giving you a head-dress of glory.

³² Now therefore, my sons, listen to me, for blessed are those who keep my ways. ³³ Listen to instruction and be wise. Don't ignore it. ³⁴ Blessed is the person who listens to me, watching daily at my gates, waiting at my doorways ³⁵ For whoever finds me, finds life, and will obtain favor from the LORD.

¹ An unfriendly man pursues selfishness, and defies all sound judgment.

¹⁵ but there was found therein, a man, poor [but] wise, and, he, delivered the city by his wisdom,—yet, no one, remembered that poor man. ¹⁶ And I said, Wisdom is better than strength; but the poor man's wisdom is despised, and his words are not heard. ¹⁷ The softly spoken words of the wise are to be heard rather than the shouts of a ruler of fools. ¹⁸ Wisdom is better than weapons of war; but one sinner destroys much good.
