²⁴ What a wretched man I am! Who will rescue me from this body of death?

²⁶ "Do nothing to the woman. There is no sin in the woman worthy of death. This is like the case where a man attacks and murders his neighbor. ²⁷ For he found her in the field, and the betrothed damsel cried, and there was none to save her.

³⁸ Whatsoever prayer and supplication be made by any man, or by all your people Israel, who shall know every man the affliction of his own heart, and spread forth his hands toward this house:

⁶ I am worn out from groaning. All night long I flood my bed with weeping and drench my couch with tears.

³ When I kept silence, my bones wasted away through my groaning all day long. ⁴ For day and night your hand was heavy on me. My strength was sapped in the heat of summer. Selah.

² For your arrows have sunk into me, and your hand has pressed down on me.

⁸ I give way and am utterly crushed. I roar out of the anguish of my heart. ⁹ O Lord, all my longing is before you, and my sighing is not hidden from you. ¹⁰ My heart pounds, my strength fails me, even the gleam in my eye is gone.

¹¹ saying, "God has forsaken him. Pursue and take him, for no one will rescue him."

¹² For he will deliver the needy who crieth, and the afflicted, who hath no helper;

³ I remember God and I murmur, I muse, and my spirit swooneth. [Selah.] ⁴ You hold my eyes from closing: I am so troubled that I cannot speak. ⁵ I thought upon the days of old, the years of bygone ages. ⁶ I remember my song in the night,—With my own heart, I commune, And my spirit, maketh search:— ⁷ Will the Lord reject me forever and not show favor again? ⁸ Has his loving kindness vanished forever? Does his promise fail for generations? ⁹ Has God forgotten to be gracious? Has he, in anger, withheld his compassion?" Selah.

⁵ set apart among the dead, like the slain who lie in the grave, whom you remember no more. They are cut off from your hand.

¹⁴ Because he loves me, therefore I will deliver him; I will protect him because he knows my name. ¹⁵ He will call upon me and I will answer him. I will be with him in trouble. I will deliver him and honor him.

²⁰ to hear the groans of the prisoner; to free those who are condemned to death;

²⁰ My soul is consumed with longing for your decrees at all times.

⁸¹ My soul is exhausted looking for Your salvation; I have set my hope in Your word. ⁸² My eyes fail for your word. I say, "When will you comfort me?" ⁸³ For I am like a wineskin in the smoke; I do not forget Your Precepts.

¹³¹ I open my mouth and pant as I long for your commands.

¹⁴³ Trouble and anguish have taken hold of me, but Your commandments are my delight.

¹⁷⁶ I have gone astray like a lost sheep; seek Your servant; for I have not forgotten Your commandments.

¹ A song of ascents. Out of the depths I call to you, O LORD. ² Lord, hear my voice. Let your ears be attentive to the voice of my petitions. ³ If you, LORD, kept a record of sins, Lord, who could stand?

⁴ and said to him, Go through the midst of Jerusalem, and set a mark on the foreheads of the men that groan and that grieve for all the iniquities that are done in the midst of them.

¹⁹ You will again have compassion on us. You will tread our iniquities under foot. You will throw all our sins into the depths of the sea.

¹¹ As for you also, because of the blood of your covenant, I will release your prisoners from the waterless pit. ¹² Turn to the fortress, you prisoners of hope: even today I tell you that I return double to you;

⁴ Blessed are those who mourn, for they will be comforted.

⁶ Blessed are those who hunger and thirst for righteousness, for they will be filled.

¹⁸ “The Spirit of the Lord is on Me, because He has anointed Me to preach good news to the poor. He has sent Me to proclaim deliverance to the captives and recovery of sight to the blind, to release the oppressed,

⁶ We know that our old self was crucified with him so that the body of sin might be done away with, that we should no longer be slaves to sin.

² For in Christ Jesus the law of the Spirit of life has set you free from the law of sin and death.

¹³ For if you live according to the flesh, you will die; but if by the Spirit you put to death the deeds of the body, you will live.

²⁶ In the same way, the Spirit helps us in our weakness. For we do not know how we ought to pray, but the Spirit Himself intercedes for us with groans too deep for words.

⁸ We do not want you to be unaware, brothers, of the hardships we encountered in the province of Asia. We were under a burden far beyond our ability to endure, so that we despaired even of life. ⁹ Indeed, we felt that we had received the sentence of death. But this happened that we might not rely on ourselves but on God, who raises the dead. ¹⁰ He has delivered us from such a deadly peril, and He will deliver us. In Him we have placed our hope that He will yet again deliver us,

⁷ And lest I should be exalted above measure through the abundance of the revelations, there was given to me a thorn in the flesh, a messenger of Satan to buffet me. ⁸ Three times I pleaded with the Lord to take it away from me. ⁹ But he said to me, "My grace is sufficient for you, for my power is made perfect in weakness." Therefore I will boast all the more gladly about my weaknesses, so that the power of Christ may rest on me.

¹¹ In Him you were also circumcised by the putting off of the body of the sins of the flesh, not with a circumcision done by hands but with the circumcision of the Christ,

¹⁸ The Lord will rescue me from every evil attack and will bring me safely to his heavenly kingdom. To him be the glory for ever and ever. Amen.

¹⁴ who gave himself for us to redeem us from all wickedness and to purify for himself a people that are his very own, zealous for good deeds. ¹⁵ and free those who all their lives were held in slavery by their fear of death.

⁴ He will wipe away every tear from their eyes, and there will be no more death or mourning or crying or pain, for the former things have passed away.”
