¹⁵ If I am wicked, woe to me. If I am righteous, I still will not lift up my head, being filled with disgrace, and conscious of my affliction.

⁷ Yahweh said, “I have surely seen the affliction of my people who are in Egypt, and have heard their cry because of their taskmasters, for I know their sorrows.

¹² Behold, he snatches away. Who can hinder him? Who will ask him, ‘What are you doing?’

¹⁵ Though I were righteous, yet I wouldn’t answer him. I would make supplication to my judge.

²⁰ Though I am righteous, my own mouth will condemn me. Though I am blameless, it will prove me perverse. ²¹ I am blameless. I don’t respect myself. I despise my life.

²⁹ I will be condemned. Why then do I labor in vain?

⁷ Although you know that I am not wicked, there is no one who can deliver out of your hand.

⁶ When I remember, I am troubled. Horror takes hold of my flesh.

¹⁵ Therefore I am terrified at his presence. When I consider, I am afraid of him.

⁷ “Let my enemy be as the wicked. Let him who rises up against me be as the unrighteous.

¹⁷ The wicked shall be turned back to Sheol, even all the nations that forget God.

¹⁸ Consider my affliction and my travail. Forgive all my sins.

¹⁵³ RESH Consider my affliction, and deliver me, for I don’t forget your law.

¹¹ Woe to the wicked! Disaster is upon them; for the deeds of his hands will be paid back to him.

⁵ Then I said, “Woe is me! For I am undone, because I am a man of unclean lips, and I dwell among a people of unclean lips: for my eyes have seen the King, Yahweh of Armies!”

⁵ You meet him who rejoices and does righteousness, those who remember you in your ways. Behold, you were angry, and we sinned. We have been in sin for a long time. Shall we be saved? ⁶ For we have all become like one who is unclean, and all our righteousness is like a polluted garment. We all fade like a leaf; and our iniquities, like the wind, take us away.

²⁰ “Look, Yahweh; for I am in distress. My heart is troubled. My heart turns over within me, for I have grievously rebelled. Abroad, the sword bereaves. At home, it is like death.

¹ Remember, Yahweh, what has come on us. Look, and see our reproach. ² Our inheritance has been turned over to strangers, our houses to aliens. ³ We are orphans and fatherless. Our mothers are as widows. ⁴ We have drunken our water for money. Our wood is sold to us. ⁵ Our pursuers are on our necks. We are weary, and have no rest. ⁶ We have given our hands to the Egyptians, and to the Assyrians, to be satisfied with bread. ⁷ Our fathers sinned, and are no more. We have borne their iniquities. ⁸ Servants rule over us. There is no one to deliver us out of their hand. ⁹ We get our bread at the peril of our lives, because of the sword of the wilderness. ¹⁰ Our skin is black like an oven, because of the burning heat of famine. ¹¹ They ravished the women in Zion, the virgins in the cities of Judah. ¹² Princes were hanged up by their hands. The faces of elders were not honored. ¹³ The young men carry millstones. The children stumbled under loads of wood. ¹⁴ The elders have ceased from the gate, and the young men from their music. ¹⁵ The joy of our heart has ceased. Our dance is turned into mourning. ¹⁶ The crown has fallen from our head. Woe to us, for we have sinned! ¹⁷ For this our heart is faint. For these things our eyes are dim. ¹⁸ For the mountain of Zion, which is desolate. The foxes walk on it. ¹⁹ You, Yahweh, remain forever. Your throne is from generation to generation. ²⁰ Why do you forget us forever, and forsake us for so long a time? ²¹ Turn us to yourself, Yahweh, and we will be turned. Renew our days as of old. ²² But you have utterly rejected us. You are very angry against us.

¹⁸ Then you shall return and discern between the righteous and the wicked, between him who serves God and him who doesn’t serve him.

¹⁰ Even so you also, when you have done all the things that are commanded you, say, ‘We are unworthy servants. We have done our duty.’”

⁸ but to those who are self-seeking, and don’t obey the truth, but obey unrighteousness, will be wrath, indignation, ⁹ oppression, and anguish on every soul of man who does evil, to the Jew first, and also to the Greek.
