Through the greatness of your power, your enemies submit themselves to you. ⁴ All the earth will worship you, and will sing to you; they will sing to your name.” Selah. ⁵ Come, and see God’s deeds— awesome work on behalf of the children of men. ⁶ He turned the sea into dry land. They went through the river on foot. There, we rejoiced in him. ⁷ He rules by his might forever. His eyes watch the nations. Don’t let the rebellious rise up against him. Selah. ⁸ Praise our God, you peoples! Make the sound of his praise heard, ⁹ who preserves our life among the living, and doesn’t allow our feet to be moved. ¹⁰ For you, God, have tested us. You have refined us, as silver is refined. ¹¹ You brought us into prison. You laid a burden on our backs. ¹² You allowed men to ride over our heads. We went through fire and through water, but you brought us to the place of abundance. ¹³ I will come into your temple with burnt offerings. I will pay my vows to you, ¹⁴ which my lips promised, and my mouth spoke, when I was in distress. ¹⁵ I will offer to you burnt offerings of fat animals, with the offering of rams, I will offer bulls with goats. Selah. ¹⁶ Come and hear, all you who fear God. I will declare what he has done for my soul. ¹⁷ I cried to him with my mouth. He was extolled with my tongue. ¹⁸ If I cherished sin in my heart, the Lord wouldn’t have listened. ¹⁹ But most certainly, God has listened. He has heard the voice of my prayer. ²⁰ Blessed be God, who has not turned away my prayer, nor his loving kindness from me.

²⁸ Thus all Israel brought the ark of Yahweh’s covenant up with shouting, with sound of the cornet, with trumpets, and with cymbals, sounding aloud with stringed instruments and harps.

²³ Sing to Yahweh, all the earth! Display his salvation from day to day. ²⁴ Declare his glory among the nations, and his marvelous works among all the peoples.

¹ Oh come, let’s sing to Yahweh. Let’s shout aloud to the rock of our salvation! ² Let’s come before his presence with thanksgiving. Let’s extol him with songs!

¹ Sing to Yahweh a new song! Sing to Yahweh, all the earth.

⁴ Make a joyful noise to Yahweh, all the earth! Burst out and sing for joy, yes, sing praises!

¹ A Psalm of thanksgiving. Shout for joy to Yahweh, all you lands!

¹ Praise Yahweh, all you nations! Extol him, all you peoples! ² For his loving kindness is great toward us. Yahweh’s faithfulness endures forever. Praise Yah!

⁶ Let everything that has breath praise Yah! Praise Yah!

¹⁶ From the uttermost part of the earth have we heard songs. Glory to the righteous! But I said, “I pine away! I pine away! woe is me!” The treacherous have dealt treacherously. Yes, the treacherous have dealt very treacherously.

¹⁰ Therefore David blessed Yahweh before all the assembly; and David said, “You are blessed, Yahweh, the God of Israel our father, forever and ever. ¹¹ Yours, Yahweh, is the greatness, the power, the glory, the victory, and the majesty! For all that is in the heavens and in the earth is yours. Yours is the kingdom, Yahweh, and you are exalted as head above all. ¹² Both riches and honor come from you, and you rule over all! In your hand is power and might! It is in your hand to make great, and to give strength to all! ¹³ Now therefore, our God, we thank you, and praise your glorious name.

⁵ Then the Levites, Jeshua, and Kadmiel, Bani, Hashabneiah, Sherebiah, Hodiah, Shebaniah, and Pethahiah, said, “Stand up and bless Yahweh your God from everlasting to everlasting! Blessed be your glorious name, which is exalted above all blessing and praise!

⁶ Sing praises to God! Sing praises! Sing praises to our King! Sing praises! ⁷ For God is the King of all the earth. Sing praises with understanding.

¹⁸ Praise be to Yahweh God, the God of Israel, who alone does marvelous deeds.

⁹ Help us, God of our salvation, for the glory of your name. Deliver us, and forgive our sins, for your name’s sake.

³ Declare his glory among the nations, his marvelous works among all the peoples. ⁴ For Yahweh is great, and greatly to be praised! He is to be feared above all gods. ⁵ For all the gods of the peoples are idols, but Yahweh made the heavens. ⁶ Honor and majesty are before him. Strength and beauty are in his sanctuary. ⁷ Ascribe to Yahweh, you families of nations, ascribe to Yahweh glory and strength. ⁸ Ascribe to Yahweh the glory due to his name. Bring an offering, and come into his courts. ⁹ Worship Yahweh in holy array. Tremble before him, all the earth. ¹⁰ Say among the nations, “Yahweh reigns.” The world is also established. It can’t be moved. He will judge the peoples with equity.

² Sing to him, sing praises to him! Tell of all his marvelous works. ³ Glory in his holy name. Let the heart of those who seek Yahweh rejoice.

² Who can utter the mighty acts of Yahweh, or fully declare all his praise?

¹⁵ Let them praise Yahweh for his loving kindness, for his wonderful deeds to the children of men!

²² Let them offer the sacrifices of thanksgiving, and declare his deeds with singing.

³ One called to another, and said, “Holy, holy, holy, is Yahweh of Armies! The whole earth is full of his glory!”

⁴ In that day you will say, “Give thanks to Yahweh! Call on his name. Declare his doings among the peoples. Proclaim that his name is exalted! ⁵ Sing to Yahweh, for he has done excellent things! Let this be known in all the earth! ⁶ Cry aloud and shout, you inhabitant of Zion; for the Holy One of Israel is great among you!”

¹² Let them give glory to Yahweh, and declare his praise in the islands.

¹³ Sing, heavens, and be joyful, earth! Break out into singing, mountains, for Yahweh has comforted his people, and will have compassion on his afflicted.

⁸ The four living creatures, each one of them having six wings, are full of eyes around and within. They have no rest day and night, saying, “Holy, holy, holy is the Lord God, the Almighty, who was and who is and who is to come!” ⁹ When the living creatures give glory, honor, and thanks to him who sits on the throne, to him who lives forever and ever, ¹⁰ the twenty-four elders fall down before him who sits on the throne, and worship him who lives forever and ever, and throw their crowns before the throne, saying, ¹¹ “Worthy are you, our Lord and God, the Holy One, to receive the glory, the honor, and the power, for you created all things, and because of your desire they existed, and were created!”

¹³ I heard every created thing which is in heaven, on the earth, under the earth, on the sea, and everything in them, saying, “To him who sits on the throne, and to the Lamb be the blessing, the honor, the glory, and the dominion, forever and ever! Amen!”

¹ Then Moses and the children of Israel sang this song to Yahweh, and said, “I will sing to Yahweh, for he has triumphed gloriously. He has thrown the horse and his rider into the sea. ² Yah is my strength and song. He has become my salvation. This is my God, and I will praise him; my father’s God, and I will exalt him. ³ Yahweh is a man of war. Yahweh is his name. ⁴ He has cast Pharaoh’s chariots and his army into the sea. His chosen captains are sunk in the Red Sea. ⁵ The deeps cover them. They went down into the depths like a stone. ⁶ Your right hand, Yahweh, is glorious in power. Your right hand, Yahweh, dashes the enemy in pieces. ⁷ In the greatness of your excellency, you overthrow those who rise up against you. You send out your wrath. It consumes them as stubble. ⁸ With the blast of your nostrils, the waters were piled up. The floods stood upright as a heap. The deeps were congealed in the heart of the sea. ⁹ The enemy said, ‘I will pursue. I will overtake. I will divide the plunder. My desire will be satisfied on them. I will draw my sword. My hand will destroy them.’ ¹⁰ You blew with your wind. The sea covered them. They sank like lead in the mighty waters. ¹¹ Who is like you, Yahweh, among the gods? Who is like you, glorious in holiness, fearful in praises, doing wonders? ¹² You stretched out your right hand. The earth swallowed them. ¹³ “You, in your loving kindness, have led the people that you have redeemed. You have guided them in your strength to your holy habitation. ¹⁴ The peoples have heard. They tremble. Pangs have taken hold of the inhabitants of Philistia. ¹⁵ Then the chiefs of Edom were dismayed. Trembling takes hold of the mighty men of Moab. All the inhabitants of Canaan have melted away. ¹⁶ Terror and dread falls on them. By the greatness of your arm they are as still as a stone, until your people pass over, Yahweh, until the people you have purchased pass over.

²¹ Miriam answered them, “Sing to Yahweh, for he has triumphed gloriously. The horse and his rider he has thrown into the sea.”

² “Because the leaders took the lead in Israel, because the people offered themselves willingly, be blessed, Yahweh! ³ “Hear, you kings! Give ear, you princes! I, even I, will sing to Yahweh. I will sing praise to Yahweh, the God of Israel. ⁴ “Yahweh, when you went out of Seir, when you marched out of the field of Edom, the earth trembled, the sky also dropped. Yes, the clouds dropped water.

²⁰ From the sky the stars fought. From their courses, they fought against Sisera. ²¹ The river Kishon swept them away, that ancient river, the river Kishon. My soul, march on with strength. ²² Then the horse hoofs stamped because of the prancing, the prancing of their strong ones.

⁴⁴ As soon as they hear of me they shall obey me. The foreigners shall submit themselves to me.

²⁸ For the kingdom is Yahweh’s. He is the ruler over the nations. ²⁹ All the rich ones of the earth shall eat and worship. All those who go down to the dust shall bow before him, even he who can’t keep his soul alive.

² For Yahweh Most High is awesome. He is a great King over all the earth.

⁵ By awesome deeds of righteousness, you answer us, God of our salvation. You who are the hope of all the ends of the earth, of those who are far away on the sea.

³⁰ Rebuke the wild animal of the reeds, the multitude of the bulls, with the calves of the peoples. Being humbled, may it bring bars of silver. Scatter the nations that delight in war.

¹² He will cut off the spirit of princes. He is feared by the kings of the earth.

³⁵ They remembered that God was their rock, the Most High God, their redeemer. ³⁶ But they flattered him with their mouth, and lied to him with their tongue.

¹⁵ The haters of Yahweh would cringe before him, and their punishment would last forever.

¹⁹ Men shall go into the caves of the rocks, and into the holes of the earth, from before the terror of Yahweh, and from the glory of his majesty, when he arises to shake the earth mightily.

³ When you did awesome things which we didn’t look for, you came down, and the mountains quaked at your presence.

¹⁰ But Yahweh is the true God. He is the living God, and an everlasting King. At his wrath, the earth trembles. The nations aren’t able to withstand his indignation.

²⁷ All the ends of the earth shall remember and turn to Yahweh. All the relatives of the nations shall worship before you.

² That your way may be known on earth, and your salvation among all nations, ³ let the peoples praise you, God. Let all the peoples praise you.

¹ Sing to Yahweh a new song! Sing to Yahweh, all the earth. ² Sing to Yahweh! Bless his name! Proclaim his salvation from day to day!

¹ Praise Yahweh, all you nations! Extol him, all you peoples!

² It shall happen in the latter days, that the mountain of Yahweh’s house shall be established on the top of the mountains, and shall be raised above the hills; and all nations shall flow to it. ³ Many peoples shall go and say, “Come, let’s go up to the mountain of Yahweh, to the house of the God of Jacob; and he will teach us of his ways, and we will walk in his paths.” For the law shall go out of Zion, and Yahweh’s word from Jerusalem. ⁴ He will judge between the nations, and will decide concerning many peoples. They shall beat their swords into plowshares, and their spears into pruning hooks. Nation shall not lift up sword against nation, neither shall they learn war any more.

⁹ They will not hurt nor destroy in all my holy mountain; for the earth will be full of the knowledge of Yahweh, as the waters cover the sea.

¹⁰ Sing to Yahweh a new song, and his praise from the end of the earth, you who go down to the sea, and all that is therein, the islands and their inhabitants. ¹¹ Let the wilderness and its cities raise their voices, with the villages that Kedar inhabits. Let the inhabitants of Sela sing. Let them shout from the top of the mountains! ¹² Let them give glory to Yahweh, and declare his praise in the islands.

²² The Lord Yahweh says, “Behold, I will lift up my hand to the nations, and lift up my banner to the peoples. They shall bring your sons in their bosom, and your daughters shall be carried on their shoulders. ²³ Kings shall be your foster fathers, and their queens your nursing mothers. They will bow down to you with their faces to the earth, and lick the dust of your feet. Then you will know that I am Yahweh; and those who wait for me shall not be disappointed.”

¹⁴ Dominion was given him, and glory, and a kingdom, that all the peoples, nations, and languages should serve him. His dominion is an everlasting dominion, which will not pass away, and his kingdom that which will not be destroyed.

¹¹ For from the rising of the sun even to its going down, my name is great among the nations, and in every place incense will be offered to my name, and a pure offering: for my name is great among the nations,” says Yahweh of Armies.

⁴ Who wouldn’t fear you, Lord, and glorify your name? For you only are holy. For all the nations will come and worship before you. For your righteous acts have been revealed.”

²³ Surely there is no enchantment with Jacob; Neither is there any divination with Israel. Now it shall be said of Jacob and of Israel, ‘What has God done!’

⁸ Come, see Yahweh’s works, what desolations he has made in the earth.

³ Tell God, “How awesome are your deeds! Through the greatness of your power, your enemies submit themselves to you.

¹⁶ Come and hear, all you who fear God. I will declare what he has done for my soul.

³ Let them praise your great and awesome name. He is Holy!

²² wondrous works in the land of Ham, and awesome things by the Red Sea.

² Yahweh’s works are great, pondered by all those who delight in them.

¹ A Song of Ascents. When Yahweh brought back those who returned to Zion, we were like those who dream. ² Then our mouth was filled with laughter, and our tongue with singing. Then they said among the nations, “Yahweh has done great things for them.” ³ Yahweh has done great things for us, and we are glad.

¹⁸ As for their rims, they were high and dreadful; and the four of them had their rims full of eyes all around.

²¹ Moses stretched out his hand over the sea, and Yahweh caused the sea to go back by a strong east wind all night, and made the sea dry land, and the waters were divided. ²² The children of Israel went into the middle of the sea on the dry ground, and the waters were a wall to them on their right hand, and on their left.

¹ Then Moses and the children of Israel sang this song to Yahweh, and said, “I will sing to Yahweh, for he has triumphed gloriously. The horse and his rider he has thrown into the sea.”

¹⁴ When the people moved from their tents to pass over the Jordan, the priests who bore the ark of the covenant being before the people,

¹⁶ the waters which came down from above stood, and rose up in one heap a great way off, at Adam, the city that is beside Zarethan; and those that went down toward the sea of the Arabah, even the Salt Sea, were wholly cut off. Then the people passed over near Jericho.

¹³ He split the sea, and caused them to pass through. He made the waters stand as a heap.

⁵ He laid the foundations of the earth, that it should not be moved forever. ⁶ You covered it with the deep as with a cloak. The waters stood above the mountains. ⁷ At your rebuke they fled. At the voice of your thunder they hurried away.

⁸ Nevertheless he saved them for his name’s sake, that he might make his mighty power known. ⁹ He rebuked the Red Sea also, and it was dried up; so he led them through the depths, as through a desert. ¹⁰ He saved them from the hand of him who hated them, and redeemed them from the hand of the enemy. ¹¹ The waters covered their adversaries. There was not one of them left. ¹² Then they believed his words. They sang his praise.

¹³ to him who divided the Red Sea apart; for his loving kindness endures forever; ¹⁴ and made Israel to pass through the middle of it; for his loving kindness endures forever;

¹³ Who led them through the depths, like a horse in the wilderness, so that they didn’t stumble? ¹⁴ As the livestock that go down into the valley, Yahweh’s Spirit caused them to rest. So you led your people to make yourself a glorious name.

² I saw something like a sea of glass mixed with fire, and those who overcame the beast, his image, and the number of his name, standing on the sea of glass, having harps of God. ³ They sang the song of Moses, the servant of God, and the song of the Lamb, saying, “Great and marvelous are your works, Lord God, the Almighty! Righteous and true are your ways, you King of the nations.

¹¹ Now I know that Yahweh is greater than all gods because of the way that they treated people arrogantly.”

⁹ For Yahweh’s eyes run back and forth throughout the whole earth, to show himself strong in the behalf of them whose heart is perfect toward him. You have done foolishly in this; for from now on you will have wars.”

⁴ God is wise in heart, and mighty in strength. Who has hardened himself against him and prospered?

¹⁰ Now therefore be wise, you kings. Be instructed, you judges of the earth. ¹¹ Serve Yahweh with fear, and rejoice with trembling. ¹² Give sincere homage to the Son, lest he be angry, and you perish on the way, for his wrath will soon be kindled. Blessed are all those who take refuge in him.

⁴ Yahweh is in his holy temple. Yahweh is on his throne in heaven. His eyes observe. His eyes examine the children of men.

¹³ Yahweh looks from heaven. He sees all the sons of men.

¹ For the Chief Musician. A contemplation by David, when Doeg the Edomite came and told Saul, “David has come to Ahimelech’s house.” Why do you boast of mischief, mighty man? God’s loving kindness endures continually. ² Your tongue plots destruction, like a sharp razor, working deceitfully. ³ You love evil more than good, lying rather than speaking the truth. Selah. ⁴ You love all devouring words, you deceitful tongue. ⁵ God will likewise destroy you forever. He will take you up, and pluck you out of your tent, and root you out of the land of the living. Selah.

¹¹ God has spoken once; twice I have heard this, that power belongs to God.

³ For I was envious of the arrogant, when I saw the prosperity of the wicked. ⁴ For there are no struggles in their death, but their strength is firm. ⁵ They are free from burdens of men, neither are they plagued like other men. ⁶ Therefore pride is like a chain around their neck. Violence covers them like a garment. ⁷ Their eyes bulge with fat. Their minds pass the limits of conceit. ⁸ They scoff and speak with malice. In arrogance, they threaten oppression. ⁹ They have set their mouth in the heavens. Their tongue walks through the earth. ¹⁰ Therefore their people return to them, and they drink up waters of abundance. ¹¹ They say, “How does God know? Is there knowledge in the Most High?” ¹² Behold, these are the wicked. Being always at ease, they increase in riches.

⁴ I said to the arrogant, “Don’t boast!” I said to the wicked, “Don’t lift up the horn. ⁵ Don’t lift up your horn on high. Don’t speak with a stiff neck.”

⁸ Yahweh, don’t grant the desires of the wicked. Don’t let their evil plans succeed, or they will become proud. Selah.

¹³ Your kingdom is an everlasting kingdom. Your dominion endures throughout all generations. Yahweh is faithful in all his words, and loving in all his deeds.

⁷ However he doesn’t mean so, neither does his heart think so; but it is in his heart to destroy, and to cut off not a few nations. ⁸ For he says, “Aren’t all of my princes kings? ⁹ Isn’t Calno like Carchemish? Isn’t Hamath like Arpad? Isn’t Samaria like Damascus?” ¹⁰ As my hand has found the kingdoms of the idols, whose engraved images exceeded those of Jerusalem and of Samaria; ¹¹ shall I not, as I have done to Samaria and her idols, so do to Jerusalem and her idols? ¹² Therefore it will happen that when the Lord has performed his whole work on Mount Zion and on Jerusalem, I will punish the fruit of the willful proud heart of the king of Assyria, and the insolence of his arrogant looks. ¹³ For he has said, “By the strength of my hand I have done it, and by my wisdom; for I have understanding. I have removed the boundaries of the peoples, and have robbed their treasures. Like a valiant man I have brought down their rulers. ¹⁴ My hand has found the riches of the peoples like a nest, and like one gathers eggs that are abandoned, I have gathered all the earth. There was no one who moved their wing, or that opened their mouth, or chirped.” ¹⁵ Should an ax brag against him who chops with it? Should a saw exalt itself above him who saws with it? As if a rod should lift those who lift it up, or as if a staff should lift up someone who is not wood. ¹⁶ Therefore the Lord, Yahweh of Armies, will send among his fat ones leanness; and under his glory a burning will be kindled like the burning of fire.

²⁸ But I know your sitting down, your going out, your coming in, and your raging against me. ²⁹ Because of your raging against me, and because your arrogance has come up into my ears, therefore I will put my hook in your nose and my bridle in your lips, and I will turn you back by the way by which you came.

³⁵ All the inhabitants of the earth are reputed as nothing; and he does according to his will in the army of heaven, and among the inhabitants of the earth; and no one can stop his hand, or ask him, “What are you doing?”

²⁰ But when his heart was lifted up, and his spirit was hardened so that he dealt proudly, he was deposed from his kingly throne, and they took his glory from him. ²¹ He was driven from the sons of men, and his heart was made like the animals’, and his dwelling was with the wild donkeys. He was fed with grass like oxen, and his body was wet with the dew of the sky; until he knew that the Most High God rules in the kingdom of men, and that he sets up over it whomever he will. ²² “You, his son, Belshazzar, have not humbled your heart, though you knew all this, ²³ but have lifted up yourself against the Lord of heaven; and they have brought the vessels of his house before you, and you and your lords, your wives, and your concubines, have drunk wine from them. You have praised the gods of silver and gold, of bronze, iron, wood, and stone, which don’t see, or hear, or know; and you have not glorified the God in whose hand your breath is, and whose are all your ways. ²⁴ Then the part of the hand was sent from before him, and this writing was inscribed. ²⁵ “This is the writing that was inscribed: ‘MENE, MENE, TEKEL, UPHARSIN.’ ²⁶ “This is the interpretation of the thing: MENE: God has counted your kingdom, and brought it to an end. ²⁷ TEKEL: you are weighed in the balances, and are found wanting. ²⁸ PERES: your kingdom is divided, and given to the Medes and Persians.”

²⁶ “I make a decree that in all the dominion of my kingdom men tremble and fear before the God of Daniel; “for he is the living God, and steadfast forever. His kingdom is that which will not be destroyed. His dominion will be even to the end. ²⁷ He delivers and rescues. He works signs and wonders in heaven and in earth, who has delivered Daniel from the power of the lions.”

¹³ Bring us not into temptation, but deliver us from the evil one. For yours is the Kingdom, the power, and the glory forever. Amen.’

¹⁸ Jesus came to them and spoke to them, saying, “All authority has been given to me in heaven and on earth.

⁴³ Rejoice, you nations, with his people, for he will avenge the blood of his servants. He will take vengeance on his adversaries, and will make atonement for his land and for his people.

¹ For the Chief Musician. A Psalm by the sons of Korah. Oh clap your hands, all you nations. Shout to God with the voice of triumph!

² Sing to the glory of his name! Offer glory and praise!

¹¹ the voice of joy and the voice of gladness, the voice of the bridegroom and the voice of the bride, the voice of those who say, ‘Give thanks to Yahweh of Armies, for Yahweh is good, for his loving kindness endures forever;’ who bring thanksgiving into Yahweh’s house. For I will cause the captivity of the land to be reversed as at the first,” says Yahweh.

¹⁰ Again he says, “Rejoice, you Gentiles, with his people.” ¹¹ Again, “Praise the Lord, all you Gentiles! Let all the peoples praise him.”

¹¹ I saw, and I heard something like a voice of many angels around the throne, the living creatures, and the elders. The number of them was ten thousands of ten thousands, and thousands of thousands; ¹² saying with a loud voice, “Worthy is the Lamb who has been killed to receive the power, wealth, wisdom, strength, honor, glory, and blessing!” ¹³ I heard every created thing which is in heaven, on the earth, under the earth, on the sea, and everything in them, saying, “To him who sits on the throne, and to the Lamb be the blessing, the honor, the glory, and the dominion, forever and ever! Amen!” ¹⁴ The four living creatures said, “Amen!” Then the elders fell down and worshiped.

¹ After these things I heard something like a loud voice of a great multitude in heaven, saying, “Hallelujah! Salvation, power, and glory belong to our God;

⁵ A voice came from the throne, saying, “Give praise to our God, all you his servants, you who fear him, the small and the great!” ⁶ I heard something like the voice of a great multitude, and like the voice of many waters, and like the voice of mighty thunders, saying, “Hallelujah! For the Lord our God, the Almighty, reigns!

⁹ He will keep the feet of his holy ones, but the wicked will be put to silence in darkness; for no man will prevail by strength.

²⁹ Though men may rise up to pursue you, and to seek your soul, yet the soul of my lord will be bound in the bundle of life with Yahweh your God. He will sling out the souls of your enemies, as from the hollow of a sling.

²⁹ All the rich ones of the earth shall eat and worship. All those who go down to the dust shall bow before him, even he who can’t keep his soul alive.

²³ A man’s steps are established by Yahweh. He delights in his way. ²⁴ Though he stumble, he shall not fall, for Yahweh holds him up with his hand.

² He alone is my rock, my salvation, and my fortress. I will never be greatly shaken.

¹⁸ When I said, “My foot is slipping!” Your loving kindness, Yahweh, held me up.

⁶ For he will never be shaken. The righteous will be remembered forever.

³ He will not allow your foot to be moved. He who keeps you will not slumber.

³ For the scepter of wickedness won’t remain over the allotment of the righteous; so that the righteous won’t use their hands to do evil.

²⁸ ‘For in him we live, move, and have our being.’ As some of your own poets have said, ‘For we are also his offspring.’

³ For you died, and your life is hidden with Christ in God. ⁴ When Christ, our life, is revealed, then you will also be revealed with him in glory.

² You shall remember all the way which Yahweh your God has led you these forty years in the wilderness, that he might humble you, to test you, to know what was in your heart, whether you would keep his commandments or not.

¹⁶ who fed you in the wilderness with manna, which your fathers didn’t know, that he might humble you, and that he might prove you, to do you good at your latter end;

³ you shall not listen to the words of that prophet, or to that dreamer of dreams; for Yahweh your God is testing you, to know whether you love Yahweh your God with all your heart and with all your soul.

¹⁰ But he knows the way that I take. When he has tried me, I will come out like gold.

³ You have proved my heart. You have visited me in the night. You have tried me, and found nothing. I have resolved that my mouth shall not disobey.

³ The refining pot is for silver, and the furnace for gold, but Yahweh tests the hearts.

¹⁰ Behold, I have refined you, but not as silver. I have chosen you in the furnace of affliction.

⁹ I will bring the third part into the fire, and will refine them as silver is refined, and will test them like gold is tested. They will call on my name, and I will hear them. I will say, ‘It is my people;’ and they will say, ‘Yahweh is my God.’”

⁶ Wherein you greatly rejoice, though now for a little while, if need be, you have been grieved in various trials, ⁷ that the proof of your faith, which is more precious than gold that perishes even though it is tested by fire, may be found to result in praise, glory, and honor at the revelation of Jesus Christ—

¹¹ Yahweh, bless his skills. Accept the work of his hands. Strike through the hips of those who rise up against him, of those who hate him, that they not rise again.”

⁶ know now that God has subverted me, and has surrounded me with his net.

¹³ “From on high has he sent fire into my bones, and it prevails against them. He has spread a net for my feet. He has turned me back. He has made me desolate and I faint all day long.

² He has led me and caused me to walk in darkness, and not in light. ³ Surely he turns his hand against me again and again all day long. ⁴ He has made my flesh and my skin old. He has broken my bones. ⁵ He has built against me, and surrounded me with bitterness and hardship. ⁶ He has made me dwell in dark places, as those who have been long dead. ⁷ He has walled me about, so that I can’t go out. He has made my chain heavy. ⁸ Yes, when I cry, and call for help, he shuts out my prayer. ⁹ He has walled up my ways with cut stone. He has made my paths crooked. ¹⁰ He is to me as a bear lying in wait, as a lion in secret places. ¹¹ He has turned away my ways, and pulled me in pieces. He has made me desolate. ¹² He has bent his bow, and set me as a mark for the arrow. ¹³ He has caused the shafts of his quiver to enter into my kidneys. ¹⁴ I have become a derision to all my people, and their song all day long. ¹⁵ He has filled me with bitterness. He has stuffed me with wormwood. ¹⁶ He has also broken my teeth with gravel. He has covered me with ashes. ¹⁷ You have removed my soul far away from peace. I forgot prosperity. ¹⁸ I said, “My strength has perished, along with my expectation from Yahweh.” ¹⁹ Remember my affliction and my misery, the wormwood and the bitterness. ²⁰ My soul still remembers them, and is bowed down within me. ²¹ This I recall to my mind; therefore I have hope. ²² It is because of Yahweh’s loving kindnesses that we are not consumed, because his compassion doesn’t fail. ²³ They are new every morning. Great is your faithfulness. ²⁴ “Yahweh is my portion,” says my soul. “Therefore I will hope in him.” ²⁵ Yahweh is good to those who wait for him, to the soul who seeks him. ²⁶ It is good that a man should hope and quietly wait for the salvation of Yahweh. ²⁷ It is good for a man that he bear the yoke in his youth. ²⁸ Let him sit alone and keep silence, because he has laid it on him. ²⁹ Let him put his mouth in the dust, if it is so that there may be hope. ³⁰ Let him give his cheek to him who strikes him. Let him be filled full of reproach. ³¹ For the Lord will not cast off forever. ³² For though he causes grief, yet he will have compassion according to the multitude of his loving kindnesses. ³³ For he does not afflict willingly, nor grieve the children of men. ³⁴ To crush under foot all the prisoners of the earth, ³⁵ to turn away the right of a man before the face of the Most High, ³⁶ to subvert a man in his cause, the Lord doesn’t approve. ³⁷ Who is he who says, and it comes to pass, when the Lord doesn’t command it? ³⁸ Doesn’t evil and good come out of the mouth of the Most High? ³⁹ Why does a living man complain, a man for the punishment of his sins? ⁴⁰ Let us search and try our ways, and turn again to Yahweh. ⁴¹ Let’s lift up our heart with our hands to God in the heavens. ⁴² “We have transgressed and have rebelled. You have not pardoned. ⁴³ “You have covered us with anger and pursued us. You have killed. You have not pitied. ⁴⁴ You have covered yourself with a cloud, so that no prayer can pass through. ⁴⁵ You have made us an off-scouring and refuse in the middle of the peoples. ⁴⁶ “All our enemies have opened their mouth wide against us. ⁴⁷ Terror and the pit have come on us, devastation and destruction.” ⁴⁸ My eye runs down with streams of water, for the destruction of the daughter of my people. ⁴⁹ My eye pours down and doesn’t cease, without any intermission, ⁵⁰ until Yahweh looks down, and sees from heaven. ⁵¹ My eye affects my soul, because of all the daughters of my city. ⁵² They have chased me relentlessly like a bird, those who are my enemies without cause. ⁵³ They have cut off my life in the dungeon, and have cast a stone on me. ⁵⁴ Waters flowed over my head. I said, “I am cut off.” ⁵⁵ I called on your name, Yahweh, out of the lowest dungeon. ⁵⁶ You heard my voice: “Don’t hide your ear from my sighing, and my cry.” ⁵⁷ You came near in the day that I called on you. You said, “Don’t be afraid.” ⁵⁸ Lord, you have pleaded the causes of my soul. You have redeemed my life. ⁵⁹ Yahweh, you have seen my wrong. Judge my cause. ⁶⁰ You have seen all their vengeance and all their plans against me. ⁶¹ You have heard their reproach, Yahweh, and all their plans against me, ⁶² the lips of those that rose up against me, and their plots against me all day long. ⁶³ You see their sitting down and their rising up. I am their song. ⁶⁴ You will pay them back, Yahweh, according to the work of their hands. ⁶⁵ You will give them hardness of heart, your curse to them. ⁶⁶ You will pursue them in anger, and destroy them from under the heavens of Yahweh.

¹³ I will also spread my net on him, and he will be taken in my snare. I will bring him to Babylon to the land of the Chaldeans; yet he will not see it, though he will die there.

¹² When they go, I will spread my net on them. I will bring them down like the birds of the sky. I will chastise them, as their congregation has heard.

¹⁶ Yes, he would have allured you out of distress, into a wide place, where there is no restriction. That which is set on your table would be full of fatness.

¹⁹ to deliver their soul from death, to keep them alive in famine.

² He brought me up also out of a horrible pit, out of the miry clay. He set my feet on a rock, and gave me a firm place to stand. ³ He has put a new song in my mouth, even praise to our God. Many shall see it, and fear, and shall trust in Yahweh.

³⁵ He turns a desert into a pool of water, and a dry land into water springs. ³⁶ There he makes the hungry live, that they may prepare a city to live in, ³⁷ sow fields, plant vineyards, and reap the fruits of increase.

¹ A Song of Ascents. Many times they have afflicted me from my youth up. Let Israel now say, ² many times they have afflicted me from my youth up, yet they have not prevailed against me. ³ The plowers plowed on my back. They made their furrows long.

⁶ Then the lame man will leap like a deer, and the tongue of the mute will sing; for waters will break out in the wilderness, and streams in the desert. ⁷ The burning sand will become a pool, and the thirsty ground springs of water. Grass with reeds and rushes will be in the habitation of jackals, where they lay.

¹ But now Yahweh who created you, Jacob, and he who formed you, Israel, says: “Don’t be afraid, for I have redeemed you. I have called you by your name. You are mine. ² When you pass through the waters, I will be with you, and through the rivers, they will not overflow you. When you walk through the fire, you will not be burned, and flame will not scorch you.

²³ I will put it into the hand of those who afflict you, who have said to your soul, ‘Bow down, that we may walk over you;’ and you have laid your back as the ground, like a street to those who walk over.”

²⁵ “But Abraham said, ‘Son, remember that you, in your lifetime, received your good things, and Lazarus, in the same way, bad things. But here he is now comforted, and you are in anguish.

²² strengthening the souls of the disciples, exhorting them to continue in the faith, and that through many afflictions we must enter into God’s Kingdom.

³ that no one would be moved by these afflictions. For you know that we are appointed to this task. ⁴ For most certainly, when we were with you, we told you beforehand that we are to suffer affliction, even as it happened, and you know.

¹¹ Behold, we call them blessed who endured. You have heard of the perseverance of Job, and have seen the Lord in the outcome, and how the Lord is full of compassion and mercy.

¹⁴ I told him, “My lord, you know.” He said to me, “These are those who came out of the great suffering.They washed their robes, and made them white in the Lamb’s blood. ¹⁵ Therefore they are before the throne of God, they serve him day and night in his temple. He who sits on the throne will spread his tabernacle over them. ¹⁶ They will never be hungry or thirsty any more. The sun won’t beat on them, nor any heat; ¹⁷ for the Lamb who is in the middle of the throne shepherds them and leads them to springs of life-giving waters. And God will wipe away every tear from their eyes.”

¹¹ then it shall happen that to the place which Yahweh your God shall choose, to cause his name to dwell there, there you shall bring all that I command you: your burnt offerings, your sacrifices, your tithes, the wave offering of your hand, and all your choice vows which you vow to Yahweh. ¹² You shall rejoice before Yahweh your God—you, and your sons, your daughters, your male servants, your female servants, and the Levite who is within your gates, because he has no portion nor inheritance with you.

²⁵ My praise of you comes in the great assembly. I will pay my vows before those who fear him.

¹⁸ Do well in your good pleasure to Zion. Build the walls of Jerusalem. ¹⁹ Then you will delight in the sacrifices of righteousness, in burnt offerings and in whole burnt offerings. Then they will offer bulls on your altar.

¹² Your vows are on me, God. I will give thank offerings to you.

⁴ Enter into his gates with thanksgiving, and into his courts with praise. Give thanks to him, and bless his name.

¹⁴ I will pay my vows to Yahweh, yes, in the presence of all his people.

¹⁷ I will offer to you the sacrifice of thanksgiving, and will call on Yahweh’s name. ¹⁸ I will pay my vows to Yahweh, yes, in the presence of all his people, ¹⁹ in the courts of Yahweh’s house, in the middle of you, Jerusalem. Praise Yah!

¹⁹ Open to me the gates of righteousness. I will enter into them. I will give thanks to Yah.

²⁷ Yahweh is God, and he has given us light. Bind the sacrifice with cords, even to the horns of the altar.

⁴ When you vow a vow to God, don’t defer to pay it; for he has no pleasure in fools. Pay that which you vow.

⁹ But I will sacrifice to you with the voice of thanksgiving. I will pay that which I have vowed. Salvation belongs to Yahweh.”

¹⁵ Behold, on the mountains the feet of him who brings good news, who publishes peace! Keep your feasts, Judah! Perform your vows, for the wicked one will no more pass through you. He is utterly cut off.

¹⁵ Through him, then, let’s offer up a sacrifice of praise to God continually, that is, the fruit of lips which proclaim allegiance to his name.

²⁰ Jacob vowed a vow, saying, “If God will be with me, and will keep me in this way that I go, and will give me bread to eat, and clothing to put on, ²¹ so that I come again to my father’s house in peace, and Yahweh will be my God, ²² then this stone, which I have set up for a pillar, will be God’s house. Of all that you will give me I will surely give a tenth to you.”

³ Let’s arise, and go up to Bethel. I will make there an altar to God, who answered me in the day of my distress, and was with me on the way which I went.”

² When a man vows a vow to Yahweh, or swears an oath to bind his soul with a bond, he shall not break his word. He shall do according to all that proceeds out of his mouth.

⁸ But if her husband forbids her in the day that he hears it, then he makes void her vow which is on her and the rash utterance of her lips, with which she has bound her soul. Yahweh will forgive her.

¹² But if her husband made them null and void in the day that he heard them, then whatever proceeded out of her lips concerning her vows, or concerning the bond of her soul, shall not stand. Her husband has made them void. Yahweh will forgive her.

³⁵ When he saw her, he tore his clothes, and said, “Alas, my daughter! You have brought me very low, and you are one of those who trouble me; for I have opened my mouth to Yahweh, and I can’t go back.” ³⁶ She said to him, “My father, you have opened your mouth to Yahweh; do to me according to that which has proceeded out of your mouth, because Yahweh has taken vengeance for you on your enemies, even on the children of Ammon.”

¹¹ She vowed a vow, and said, “Yahweh of Armies, if you will indeed look at the affliction of your servant and remember me, and not forget your servant, but will give to your servant a boy, then I will give him to Yahweh all the days of his life, and no razor shall come on his head.”

⁷ In my distress, I called on Yahweh. Yes, I called to my God. He heard my voice out of his temple. My cry came into his ears.

¹⁴ and he shall offer his offering to Yahweh: one male lamb a year old without defect for a burnt offering, one ewe lamb a year old without defect for a sin offering, one ram without defect for peace offerings,

¹³ When those who bore Yahweh’s ark had gone six paces, he sacrificed an ox and a fattened calf.

¹⁷ They brought in Yahweh’s ark, and set it in its place, in the middle of the tent that David had pitched for it; and David offered burnt offerings and peace offerings before Yahweh. ¹⁸ When David had finished offering the burnt offering and the peace offerings, he blessed the people in the name of Yahweh of Armies. ¹⁹ He gave to all the people, even among the whole multitude of Israel, both to men and women, to everyone a portion of bread, dates, and raisins. So all the people departed, each to his own house.

¹ They brought in God’s ark, and set it in the middle of the tent that David had pitched for it; and they offered burnt offerings and peace offerings before God. ² When David had finished offering the burnt offering and the peace offerings, he blessed the people in Yahweh’s name. ³ He gave to everyone of Israel, both man and woman, to everyone a loaf of bread, a portion of meat, and a cake of raisins.

¹⁹ Then you will delight in the sacrifices of righteousness, in burnt offerings and in whole burnt offerings. Then they will offer bulls on your altar.

⁵ men came from Shechem, from Shiloh, and from Samaria, even eighty men, having their beards shaved and their clothes torn, and having cut themselves, with meal offerings and frankincense in their hand, to bring them to Yahweh’s house.

²³ You who fear Yahweh, praise him! All you descendants of Jacob, glorify him! Stand in awe of him, all you descendants of Israel! ²⁴ For he has not despised nor abhorred the affliction of the afflicted, Neither has he hidden his face from him; but when he cried to him, he heard.

⁵ I acknowledged my sin to you. I didn’t hide my iniquity. I said, I will confess my transgressions to Yahweh, and you forgave the iniquity of my sin. Selah. ⁶ For this, let everyone who is godly pray to you in a time when you may be found. Surely when the great waters overflow, they shall not reach to him.

² My soul shall boast in Yahweh. The humble shall hear of it and be glad.

¹¹ Come, you children, listen to me. I will teach you the fear of Yahweh.

⁵ Come, and see God’s deeds— awesome work on behalf of the children of men.

¹⁵ My mouth will tell about your righteousness, and of your salvation all day, though I don’t know its full measure.

¹⁸ Yes, even when I am old and gray-haired, God, don’t forsake me, until I have declared your strength to the next generation, your might to everyone who is to come.

²⁰ You, who have shown us many and bitter troubles, you will let me live. You will bring us up again from the depths of the earth.

²⁴ My tongue will also talk about your righteousness all day long, for they are disappointed, and they are confounded, who want to harm me.

¹⁶ Then those who feared Yahweh spoke one with another; and Yahweh listened, and heard, and a book of memory was written before him, for those who feared Yahweh, and who honored his name.

⁸ and last of all, as to the child born at the wrong time, he appeared to me also. ⁹ For I am the least of the apostles, who is not worthy to be called an apostle, because I persecuted the assembly of God. ¹⁰ But by the grace of God I am what I am. His grace which was given to me was not futile, but I worked more than all of them; yet not I, but the grace of God which was with me.

¹⁵ The saying is faithful and worthy of all acceptance, that Christ Jesus came into the world to save sinners, of whom I am chief. ¹⁶ However, for this cause I obtained mercy, that in me first, Jesus Christ might display all his patience for an example of those who were going to believe in him for eternal life.

³ that which we have seen and heard we declare to you, that you also may have fellowship with us. Yes, and our fellowship is with the Father, and with his Son, Jesus Christ.

¹ A Psalm. A Song for the Dedication of the Temple. By David. I will extol you, Yahweh, for you have raised me up, and have not made my foes to rejoice over me.

⁸ I cried to you, Yahweh. I made supplication to the Lord:

³ Oh magnify Yahweh with me. Let’s exalt his name together. ⁴ I sought Yahweh, and he answered me, and delivered me from all my fears.

⁶ This poor man cried, and Yahweh heard him, and saved him out of all his troubles.

¹ I love Yahweh, because he listens to my voice, and my cries for mercy. ² Because he has turned his ear to me, therefore I will call on him as long as I live.

¹² What will I give to Yahweh for all his benefits toward me?

¹ A praise psalm by David. I will exalt you, my God, the King. I will praise your name forever and ever.

⁸ For what is the hope of the godless, when he is cut off, when God takes away his life? ⁹ Will God hear his cry when trouble comes on him?

²¹ Take heed, don’t regard iniquity; for you have chosen this rather than affliction.

⁸ The sacrifice made by the wicked is an abomination to Yahweh, but the prayer of the upright is his delight.

²⁹ Yahweh is far from the wicked, but he hears the prayer of the righteous.

¹³ Whoever stops his ears at the cry of the poor, he will also cry out, but shall not be heard.

⁹ He who turns away his ear from hearing the law, even his prayer is an abomination.

¹⁵ When you spread out your hands, I will hide my eyes from you. Yes, when you make many prayers, I will not hear. Your hands are full of blood.

³¹ We know that God doesn’t listen to sinners, but if anyone is a worshiper of God, and does his will, he listens to him.

³ You ask, and don’t receive, because you ask with wrong motives, so that you may spend it on your pleasures.

⁹ Yahweh has heard my supplication. Yahweh accepts my prayer.

⁵⁵ I called on your name, Yahweh, out of the lowest dungeon. ⁵⁶ You heard my voice: “Don’t hide your ear from my sighing, and my cry.”

⁷ He, in the days of his flesh, having offered up prayers and petitions with strong crying and tears to him who was able to save him from death, and having been heard for his godly fear,

²⁰ because if our heart condemns us, God is greater than our heart, and knows all things. ²¹ Beloved, if our hearts don’t condemn us, we have boldness toward God; ²² so whatever we ask, we receive from him, because we keep his commandments and do the things that are pleasing in his sight.

¹⁴ I will be his father, and he will be my son. If he commits iniquity, I will chasten him with the rod of men, and with the stripes of the children of men; ¹⁵ but my loving kindness will not depart from him, as I took it from Saul, whom I put away before you.

²⁴ For he has not despised nor abhorred the affliction of the afflicted, Neither has he hidden his face from him; but when he cried to him, he heard.

¹¹ Don’t throw me from your presence, and don’t take your Holy Spirit from me.

³⁵ You are awesome, God, in your sanctuaries. The God of Israel gives strength and power to his people. Praise be to God!
