⁵ Now she who is really a widow and desolate has set her hope on God, and continues in supplications and prayers night and day.

³⁷ and having been a widow for about eighty-four years —who did not depart from the temple, serving God with fastings and petitions night and day.

¹² —that is, that I may be encouraged among you by our mutual faith, both yours and mine.

²⁰ Because His invisible attributes, namely His eternal power and divine nature, are clearly seen from the creation of the world, being understood from what has been made, so that they are inexcusable; ²¹ precisely because, knowing God, they neither glorified Him as God nor gave thanks; so their reasonings became worthless and their senseless hearts were darkened.

³² Now I want you to be without anxiety. He who is unmarried cares about the things of the Lord: how he will please the Lord.

³⁴ The wife and the virgin are also different. She who is unmarried cares about the things of the Lord, that she may be holy both in body and in spirit; while she who is married cares about the things of the world: how she will please her husband.

¹⁸ praying at all times in the Spirit, using every prayer and petition, yes being watchful to this end with all perseverance and petition for all the saints

³ Give financial support to widows who are really ‘widows’.

¹⁶ If any man or woman who is a believer has widows, let them relieve them and not burden the congregation, so that it may relieve those who are widows indeed.

⁵ For this is how the holy women who hoped in God in former times also adorned themselves, being submissive to their own husbands,
