¹ Hearken to me, ye that follow after righteousness, ye that seek the LORD: look to the rock whence ye are hewn, and to the hole of the pit whence ye are digged.

³⁰ What shall we say then? That the Gentiles who followed not after righteousness, have attained to righteousness, even the righteousness which is by faith:

⁶ Having then gifts differing according to the grace that is given to us, whether prophecy, let us prophesy according to the proportion of faith;

¹⁹ Let us therefore follow after the things which make for peace, and things with which one may edify another.

¹ Now concerning spiritual gifts, brethren, I would not have you ignorant.

³¹ But covet earnestly the best gifts. And yet I show to you a more excellent way.

¹³ And now abideth faith, hope, charity, these three; but the greatest of these is charity.

³ Blessed be the God and Father of our Lord Jesus Christ, who hath blessed us with all spiritual blessings in heavenly places in Christ:

²⁰ Despise not prophesyings.

¹⁴ Neglect not the gift that is in thee, which was given thee by prophecy, with the laying on of the hands of the presbytery.

¹⁰ Well reported of for good works; if she hath brought up children, if she hath lodged strangers, if she hath washed the saints' feet, if she hath relieved the afflicted, if she hath diligently followed every good work.

¹¹ But thou, O man of God, flee from these things; and follow after righteousness, godliness, faith, love, patience, meekness.

²² Flee also youthful lusts: but follow righteousness, faith, charity, peace, with them that call on the Lord out of a pure heart.

¹⁴ Follow peace with all men, and holiness, without which no man shall see the Lord:

¹¹ Let him shun evil, and do good; let him seek peace, and pursue it. ¹² For the eyes of the Lord are over the righteous, and his ears are open to their prayers: but the face of the Lord is against them that do evil. ¹³ And who is he that will harm you, if ye are followers of that which is good?

⁷ And to godliness brotherly kindness; and to brotherly kindness charity.

¹¹ Beloved, follow not that which is evil, but that which is good. He that doeth good is of God: but he that doeth evil hath not seen God.

⁷ Come, let us go down, and there confound their language, that they may not understand one another's speech.

⁵¹ Behold, I show you a mystery; We shall not all sleep, but we shall all be changed,

² That their hearts may be comforted, being knit together in love, and to all riches of the full assurance of understanding to the acknowledgment of the mystery of God, and of the Father, and of Christ;

²² Whom I have sent to you for the same purpose, that ye may know our affairs, and that he may comfort your hearts.

³ For our exhortation was not from deceit, nor from impurity, nor in guile;

³³ Even as I please all men in all things, not seeking my own profit, but the profit of many, that they may be saved.

⁷ But the manifestation of the Spirit is given to every man for profit. ⁸ For to one is given by the Spirit the word of wisdom; to another, the word of knowledge by the same Spirit;

⁸ Charity never faileth: but whether there are prophecies, they shall fail; whether there are languages, they shall cease; whether there is knowledge, it shall vanish away. ⁹ For we know in part, and we prophesy in part.

²⁶ How is it then, brethren? when ye are assembled, every one of you hath a psalm, hath a doctrine, hath a language, hath a revelation, hath an interpretation. Let all things be done to edification. ²⁷ If any man speaketh in an unknown language, let it be by two, or at the most by three, and that by course; and let one interpret. ²⁸ But if there is no interpreter, let him keep silence in the church; and let him speak to himself, and to God. ²⁹ Let the prophets speak two or three, and let the others judge. ³⁰ If any thing is revealed to another that sitteth by, let the first hold his peace.

⁶ But though I am rude in speech, yet not in knowledge; but we have been thoroughly made manifest among you in all things.

¹ It is not expedient for me doubtless to glory. I will come to visions and revelations of the Lord.

⁷ And lest I should be exalted above measure through the abundance of the revelations, there was given to me a thorn in the flesh, the messenger of Satan to buffet me, lest I should be exalted above measure.

¹⁷ That the God of our Lord Jesus Christ, the Father of glory, may give to you the spirit of wisdom and revelation in the knowledge of him:

⁴ By which when ye read, ye may understand my knowledge in the mystery of Christ,

¹⁵ Let us therefore, as many as are perfect, be thus minded: and if in any thing ye are otherwise minded, God will reveal even this to you.

¹⁴ Of these things put them in remembrance, charging them before the Lord that they contend not about words to no profit, but to the subverting of the hearers.

¹⁰ But thou hast fully known my doctrine, manner of life, purpose, faith, long-suffering, charity, patience,

¹⁶ All scripture is given by inspiration of God, and is profitable for doctrine, for reproof, for correction, for instruction in righteousness:

⁸ This is a faithful saying, and these things I will that thou affirm constantly, that they who have believed in God may be careful to maintain good works. These things are good and profitable to men.

⁹ Be not carried about with divers and strange doctrines: for it is a good thing that the heart be established with grace; not with meats, which have not profited them that have been occupied in them.

⁵ And besides this, giving all diligence, add to your faith virtue; and to virtue knowledge;

¹⁸ But grow in grace, and in the knowledge of our Lord and Savior Jesus Christ. To him be glory both now and for ever. Amen.

⁹ Whoever transgresseth, and abideth not in the doctrine of Christ, hath not God. He that abideth in the doctrine of Christ, he hath both the Father and the Son.

² Make thee two trumpets of silver; of a whole piece shalt thou make them; that thou mayest use them for the calling of the assembly, and for the journeying of the camps. ³ And when they shall blow with them, all the assembly shall assemble themselves to thee at the door of the tabernacle of the congregation. ⁴ And if they blow but with one trumpet, then the princes, who are heads of the thousands of Israel, shall assemble themselves to thee. ⁵ When ye blow an alarm, then the camps that lie on the east parts shall go forward. ⁶ When ye blow an alarm the second time, then the camps that lie on the south side shall take their journey: they shall blow an alarm for their journeys. ⁷ But when the congregation is to be convened, ye shall blow, but ye shall not sound an alarm. ⁸ And the sons of Aaron, the priests, shall blow with the trumpets; and they shall be to you for an ordinance for ever throughout your generations. ⁹ And if ye go to war in your land against the enemy that oppresseth you, then ye shall blow an alarm with the trumpets; and ye shall be remembered before the LORD your God, and ye shall be saved from your enemies. ¹⁰ Also in the day of your gladness, and in your solemn days, and in the beginnings of your months, ye shall blow with the trumpets over your burnt-offerings, and over the sacrifices of your peace-offerings; that they may be to you for a memorial before your God: I am the LORD your God.

¹⁷ And saying, We have piped to you, and ye have not danced; We have mourned to you, and ye have not lamented.

³² They are like children sitting in the market-place, and calling one to another, and saying, We have piped to you, and ye have not danced; we have mourned to you, and ye have not wept.

⁸ For if the trumpet shall give an uncertain sound, who will prepare himself for battle?

⁹ And if ye go to war in your land against the enemy that oppresseth you, then ye shall blow an alarm with the trumpets; and ye shall be remembered before the LORD your God, and ye shall be saved from your enemies.

¹⁶ And he divided the three hundred men into three companies, and he put a trumpet in every man's hand, with empty pitchers, and lamps within the pitchers. ¹⁷ And he said to them, Look on me, and do likewise: and behold, when I come to the outside of the camp, it shall be that as I do, so shall ye do. ¹⁸ When I blow with a trumpet, I and all that are with me, then blow ye the trumpets also on every side of all the camp, and say, The sword of the LORD, and of Gideon.

¹⁸ For the builders, every one had his sword girded by his side, and so built. And he that sounded the trumpet was by me. ¹⁹ And I said to the nobles, and to the rulers, and to the rest of the people, The work is great and large, and we are separated upon the wall, one far from another. ²⁰ In what place therefore ye hear the sound of the trumpet, resort ye thither to us: our God will fight for us. ²¹ So we labored in the work: and half of them held the spears from the rising of the morning till the stars appeared.

²⁴ (39:21)He paweth in the valley, and rejoiceth in his strength: he goeth on to meet the armed men. ²⁵ (39:22)He mocketh at fear, and is not affrighted; neither turneth he back from the sword.

¹³ And it shall come to pass in that day, that the great trumpet shall be blown, and they shall come who were ready to perish in the land of Assyria, and the outcasts in the land of Egypt, and shall worship the LORD on the holy mount at Jerusalem.

¹⁹ My bowels, my bowels! I am pained at my very heart; my heart maketh a noise in me; I cannot hold my peace, because thou hast heard, O my soul, the sound of the trumpet, the alarm of war.

³ If when he seeth the sword come upon the land, he shall blow the trumpet, and warn the people; ⁴ Then whoever heareth the sound of the trumpet, and taketh not warning; if the sword shall come and take him away, his blood shall be upon his own head. ⁵ He heard the sound of the trumpet, and took not warning; his blood shall be upon him. But he that taketh warning shall deliver his soul. ⁶ But if the watchman shall see the sword come, and blow not the trumpet, and the people be not warned; if the sword shall come, and take any person from among them, he is taken away in his iniquity; but his blood will I require at the watchman's hand.

¹ Blow ye the trumpet in Zion, and sound an alarm in my holy mountain: let all the inhabitants of the land tremble: for the day of the LORD cometh, for it is nigh at hand;

⁶ Shalt a trumpet be blown in the city, and the people not be afraid? shall there be evil in a city, and the LORD hath not done it?

¹¹ Put on the whole armor of God, that ye may be able to stand against the wiles of the devil. ¹² For we wrestle not against flesh and blood, but against principalities, against powers, against the rulers of the darkness of this world, against spiritual wickedness in high places. ¹³ Wherefore take to you the whole armor of God, that ye may be able to withstand in the evil day, and having done all, to stand. ¹⁴ Stand therefore, having your loins girt about with truth, and having on the breast-plate of righteousness; ¹⁵ And your feet shod with the preparation of the gospel of peace; ¹⁶ Above all, taking the shield of faith, with which ye will be able to extinguish all the fiery darts of the wicked. ¹⁷ And take the helmet of salvation, and the sword of the Spirit, which is the word of God: ¹⁸ Praying always with all prayer and supplication in the Spirit, and watching for this purpose with all perseverance and supplication for all saints;

²⁶ I therefore so run, not as uncertainly; so I fight, not as one that beateth the air:

² And the barbarous people showed us no little kindness: for they kindled a fire, and received us every one, because of the present rain, and because of the cold.

⁴ And when the barbarians saw the animal hang on his hand, they said among themselves, No doubt this man is a murderer, whom, though he hath escaped the sea, yet vengeance suffereth not to live.

¹⁴ I am debtor both to the Greeks, and to the barbarians, both to the wise, and to the unwise.

²¹ In the law it is written, With men of other tongues and other lips will I speak to this people; and yet for all that will they not hear me, saith the Lord.

¹¹ Where there is neither Greek nor Jew, circumcision nor uncircumcision, Barbarian, Scythian, bond nor free: but Christ is all, and in all.

⁷ But the manifestation of the Spirit is given to every man for profit.

³¹ But covet earnestly the best gifts. And yet I show to you a more excellent way.

¹⁴ Who gave himself for us, that he might redeem us from all iniquity, and purify to himself a peculiar people, zealous of good works.

²⁴ Therefore I say to you, Whatever things ye desire when ye pray, believe that ye receive them, and ye shall have them.

¹³ And whatever ye shall ask in my name, that will I do, that the Father may be glorified in the Son. ¹⁴ If ye shall ask any thing in my name, I will do it.

¹⁴ These all continued with one accord in prayer and supplication, with the women, and Mary the mother of Jesus, and with his brethren.

²⁹ And now, Lord, behold their threatenings: and grant to thy servants, that with all boldness they may speak thy word, ³⁰ By stretching forth thy hand to heal; and that signs and wonders may be done by the name of thy holy child Jesus. ³¹ And when they had prayed, the place was shaken where they were assembled; and they were all filled with the Holy Spirit, and they spoke the word of God with boldness.

¹⁵ Who, when they had come down, prayed for them that they might receive the Holy Spirit:

³⁰ Have all the gifts of healing? do all speak in languages? do all interpret?

² For he that speaketh in an unknown language, speaketh not to men, but to God: for no man understandeth him; yet in the spirit he speaketh mysteries.

¹⁵ What is it then? I will pray with the spirit, and I will pray with the understanding also: I will sing with the spirit, and I will sing with the understanding also. ¹⁶ Else, when thou shalt bless with the spirit, how shall he that occupieth the room of the unlearned say Amen at thy giving of thanks, seeing he understandeth not what thou sayest?

¹⁹ Yet in the church I had rather speak five words with my understanding, that by my voice I may teach others also, than ten thousand words in an unknown language.

⁷ (47:6)Sing praises to God, sing praises: sing praises to our King, sing praises.

²³ But the hour cometh, and now is, when the true worshipers shall worship the Father in spirit and in truth: for the Father seeketh such to worship him. ²⁴ God is a Spirit: and they that worship him, must worship him in spirit and in truth.

⁹ For God is my witness, whom I serve with my spirit in the gospel of his Son, that without ceasing I make mention of you always in my prayers,

⁵ But if our unrighteousness commendeth the righteousness of God, what shall we say? Is God unrighteous who taketh vengeance? (I speak as a man.)

³¹ What shall we then say to these things? If God is for us, who can be against us?

¹ I beseech you therefore, brethren, by the mercies of God, that ye present your bodies a living sacrifice, holy, acceptable to God, which is your reasonable service. ² And be not conformed to this world: but be ye transformed by the renewing of your mind, that ye may prove what is that good and acceptable, and perfect will of God.

¹⁹ What then do I say? that the idol is any thing, or that which is offered in sacrifice to idols is any thing?

¹⁷ Wherefore be ye not unwise, but understanding what the will of the Lord is. ¹⁸ And be not drunk with wine, in which is excess; but be filled with the Spirit; ¹⁹ Speaking to yourselves in psalms, and hymns, and spiritual songs, singing and making melody in your heart to the Lord, ²⁰ Giving thanks always for all things to God and the Father, in the name of our Lord Jesus Christ;

¹⁸ Praying always with all prayer and supplication in the Spirit, and watching for this purpose with all perseverance and supplication for all saints;

¹⁸ What then? notwithstanding, every way, whether in pretense or in truth, Christ is preached; and I therein do rejoice, yes, and will rejoice.

¹⁶ Let the word of Christ dwell in you richly in all wisdom; teaching and admonishing one another in psalms, and hymns, and spiritual songs, singing with grace in your hearts to the Lord.

²² And this water that causeth the curse shall go into thy bowels, to make thy belly to swell, and thy thigh to perish. And the woman shall say, Amen, amen.

³⁶ And Benaiah the son of Jehoiada answered the king, and said, Amen: the LORD God of my lord the king say so too.

³⁶ Blessed be the LORD God of Israel for ever and ever. And all the people said, Amen, and praised the LORD.

¹³ Also I shook my lap, and said, So God shake out every man from his house, and from his labor, that performeth not this promise, even thus be he shaken out, and emptied. And all the congregation said, Amen, and praised the LORD. And the people did according to this promise.

⁶ And Ezra blessed the LORD, the great God. And all the people answered, Amen, Amen, with lifting their hands: and they bowed their heads, and worshiped the LORD with their faces to the ground.

¹¹ And the vision of all is become to you as the words of a book that is sealed, which men deliver to one that is learned, saying, Read this, I pray thee: and he saith, I cannot; for it is sealed: ¹² And the book is delivered to him that is not learned, saying, Read this, I pray thee: and he saith, I am not learned.

⁵ That I may perform the oath which I have sworn to your fathers, to give them a land flowing with milk and honey, as it is this day. Then answered I, and said, So be it, O LORD.

⁶ Even the prophet Jeremiah said, Amen: the LORD do so: the LORD perform thy words which thou hast prophesied, to bring again the vessels of the LORD'S house, and all that is carried away captive, from Babylon into this place.

¹³ And lead us not into temptation, but deliver us from evil. For thine is the kingdom, and the power, and the glory, for ever. Amen.

²⁰ Teaching them to observe all things whatever I have commanded you: and lo, I am with you always, even to the end of the world. Amen.

²⁰ And they went forth, and preached every where, the Lord working with them, and confirming the word with signs following. Amen.

¹⁵ And the Jews marveled, saying, How knoweth this man letters, having never learned?

²⁵ And there are also many other things which Jesus did, which, if they should be written every one, I suppose that even the world itself could not contain the books that would be written. Amen.

¹³ Now when they saw the boldness of Peter and John, and perceived that they were unlearned and ignorant men, they marveled; and they took knowledge of them, that they had been with Jesus.

⁴ I thank my God always on your behalf, for the grace of God which is given you by Jesus Christ; ⁵ That in every thing ye are enriched by him, in all utterance, and in all knowledge; ⁶ Even as the testimony of Christ was confirmed in you: ⁷ So that ye come behind in no gift; waiting for the coming of our Lord Jesus Christ: ⁸ Who will also confirm you to the end, that ye may be blameless in the day of our Lord Jesus Christ.

²⁴ And when he had given thanks, he broke it, and said, Take, eat: this is my body, which is broken for you: this do in remembrance of me.

¹⁴ For if I pray in an unknown language, my spirit prayeth, but my understanding is unfruitful.

²³ If therefore the whole church is assembled in one place, and all speak in languages, and there come in those that are unlearned, or unbelievers, will they not say that ye are insane? ²⁴ But if all prophesy, and there come in one that believeth not, or one unlearned, he is convinced by all, he is judged by all:

²⁴ My love be with you all in Christ Jesus. Amen.

¹⁴ And the four living beings said, Amen. And the four and twenty elders fell down and worshiped him that liveth for ever and ever.

¹² Saying, Amen: Blessing, and glory, and wisdom, and thanksgiving, and honor, and power, and might, be to our God for ever and ever. Amen.

²⁰ He who testifieth these things saith, Surely I come quickly: Amen. Even so, come, Lord Jesus.

⁴ He that speaketh in an unknown language edifieth himself; but he that prophesieth edifieth the church.

⁶ Now, brethren, if I come to you speaking in languages, what shall I profit you, except I shall speak to you either by revelation, or by knowledge, or by prophesying, or by doctrine?

⁹⁹ I have more understanding than all my teachers: for thy testimonies are my meditation.

¹ A Song of degrees of David. LORD, my heart is not haughty, nor my eyes lofty: neither do I exercise myself in great matters, or in things too high for me. ² Surely I have behaved and quieted myself as a child that is weaned by his mother: my soul is even as a weaned child.

³ And will make him of quick understanding in the fear of the LORD: and he will not judge after the sight of his eyes, neither reprove after the hearing of his ears:

³ And said, Verily I say to you, Except ye be converted, and become as little children, ye shall not enter into the kingdom of heaven.

⁴ And he answered and said to them, Have ye not read, that he who made them, at the beginning made them male and female,

¹⁵ Verily I say to you, Whoever shall not receive the kingdom of God, as a little child, he shall not enter it.

¹⁹ For your obedience is come abroad to all men. I am glad therefore on your behalf: but yet I would have you wise to that which is good, and simple concerning evil.

⁶ However, we speak wisdom among them that are perfect: yet not the wisdom of this world, nor of the princes of this world, that come to naught:

¹ And I, brethren, could not speak to you as to spiritual, but as to carnal, even as to babes in Christ. ² I have fed you with milk, and not with meat: for hitherto ye were not able to bear it, neither yet now are ye able.

¹¹ When I was a child, I spoke as a child, I understood as a child, I thought as a child: but when I became a man, I put away childish things.

¹⁴ That we henceforth be no more children, tossed to and fro, and carried about with every wind of doctrine, by the sleight of men, and cunning craftiness, by which they lie in wait to deceive: ¹⁵ But speaking the truth in love, may grow up into him in all things, who is the head, even Christ:

⁹ And this I pray, that your love may abound yet more and more in knowledge and in all judgment;

¹² For when for the time ye ought to be teachers, ye have need of one to teach you again which are the first principles of the oracles of God; and are become such as have need of milk, and not of strong food. ¹³ For every one that useth milk, is unskillful in the word of righteousness: for he is a babe.

¹ Therefore leaving the principles of the doctrine of Christ, let us go on to perfection; not laying again the foundation of repentance from dead works, and of faith towards God, ² Of the doctrine of baptisms, and of laying on of hands, and of the resurrection of the dead, and of eternal judgment. ³ And this will we do, if God permit.

² As new-born babes, desire the pure milk of the word, that ye may grow thereby:

¹¹ For with stammering lips and another tongue will he speak to this people. ¹² To whom he said, This is the rest with which ye may cause the weary to rest; and this is the refreshing: yet they would not hear.

¹⁵ Lo, I will bring a nation upon you from far, O house of Israel, saith the LORD: it is a mighty nation, it is an ancient nation, a nation whose language thou knowest not, neither understandest what they say.

³⁴ Jesus answered them, Is it not written in your law, I said, Ye are gods?

¹⁹ Now we know that whatever things the law saith, it saith to them who are under the law: that every mouth may be stopped, and all the world may become guilty before God.

⁶ Now when this was noised abroad, the multitude came together, and were confounded, because every man heard them speak in his own language. ⁷ And they were all amazed, and marveled, saying one to another, Behold, are not all these who speak Galileans? ⁸ And how do we hear every man in our own language, wherein we were born? ⁹ Parthians, and Medes, and Elamites, and the dwellers in Mesopotamia, and in Judea, and Cappadocia, in Pontus, and Asia, ¹⁰ Phrygia, and Pamphylia, in Egypt, and in the parts of Libya about Cyrene, and strangers of Rome, Jews and Proselytes, ¹¹ Cretes and Arabians we hear them speak in our languages the wonderful works of God. ¹² And they were all amazed, and were in doubt, saying one to another, What meaneth this?

³² This Jesus hath God raised up, of which we all are witnesses. ³³ Therefore being by the right hand of God exalted, and having received from the Father the promise of the Holy Spirit, he hath shed forth this, which ye now see and hear. ³⁴ For David did not ascend into the heavens, but he saith himself, The LORD said to my Lord, Sit thou on my right hand, ³⁵ Until I make thy foes thy footstool. ³⁶ Therefore let all the house of Israel know assuredly, that God hath made that same Jesus whom ye have crucified, both Lord and Christ.

⁹ Knowing this, that the law is not made for a righteous man, but for the lawless and disobedient, for the ungodly and for sinners, for unholy and profane, for murderers of fathers, and murderers of mothers, for man-slayers,

⁷ The days of visitation are come, the days of recompense are come; Israel shall know it: the prophet is a fool, the spiritual man is mad, for the multitude of thy iniquity, and the great hatred.

²⁰ And many of them said, He hath a demon, and is insane; why hear ye him?

¹³ Others mocking, said, These men are full of new wine.

²⁴ And as he was thus speaking for himself, Festus said with a loud voice, Paul, thou art beside thyself; much learning doth make thee insane.

¹⁸ For first of all, when ye come together in the church, I hear that there are divisions among you; and I partly believe it.

⁴⁷ Jesus saw Nathanael coming to him, and saith of him, Behold an Israelite indeed, in whom is no guile! ⁴⁸ Nathanael saith to him, Whence knowest thou me? Jesus answered and said to him, Before Philip called thee, when thou wast under the fig-tree, I saw thee. ⁴⁹ Nathanael answered and said to him, Rabbi, thou art the Son of God; thou art the King of Israel.

²⁹ Come, see a man who hath told me all things that ever I did: is not this the Christ?

³⁷ Now when they heard this, they were pricked in their heart, and said to Peter and to the rest of the apostles, Men, brethren, what shall we do?

¹⁵ But he that is spiritual judgeth all things, yet he himself is judged by no man.

¹² For the word of God is living, and powerful, and sharper than any two-edged sword, piercing even to the dividing asunder of soul and spirit, and of the joints and marrow, and is a discerner of the thoughts and intents of the heart. ¹³ Neither is there any creature that is not manifest in his sight: but all things are naked and opened to the eyes of him with whom we have to do.

¹⁴ And Judah and his brethren came to Joseph's house, (for he was yet there:) and they fell before him on the ground.

¹⁸ And I fell down before the LORD, as at the first, forty days and forty nights: I neither ate bread, nor drank water, because of all your sins which ye sinned, in doing wickedly in the sight of the LORD, to provoke him to anger.

¹¹ Yes, all kings shall fall down before him: all nations shall serve him.

¹⁴ Thus saith the LORD, The labor of Egypt, and merchandise of Cush and of the Sabeans, men of stature, shall come over to thee, and they shall be thine: they shall come after thee; in chains they shall come over, and they shall fall down to thee, they shall make supplication to thee, saying, Surely God is in thee; and there is none else, there is no God.

¹⁴ The sons also of them that afflicted thee shall come bending to thee; and all they that despised thee shall bow themselves down at the soles of thy feet; and they shall call thee, The city of the LORD, The Zion of the Holy One of Israel.

²³ Thus saith the LORD of hosts: In those days it shall come to pass, that ten men out of all languages of the nations, shall take hold, shall even take hold of the skirt of him that is a Jew, saying, We will go with you: for we have heard that God is with you.

⁸ When Simon Peter saw it, he fell down at Jesus' knees, saying, Depart from me; for I am a sinful man, O Lord.

²⁸ When he saw Jesus, he cried out, and fell down before him, and with a loud voice said, What have I to do with thee, Jesus, thou Son of God most high? I beseech thee torment me not.

¹⁶ And fell down on his face at his feet, giving him thanks: and he was a Samaritan.

⁸ And when he had taken the book, the four living beings, and four and twenty elders fell down before the Lamb, having every one of them harps, and golden vials full of odors, which are the prayers of saints.

⁴ And the four and twenty elders and the four living beings fell down and worshiped God who sat on the throne, saying, Amen; Alleluia.

⁷ But the manifestation of the Spirit is given to every man for profit. ⁸ For to one is given by the Spirit the word of wisdom; to another, the word of knowledge by the same Spirit; ⁹ To another, faith by the same Spirit; to another, the gifts of healing by the same Spirit; ¹⁰ To another, the working of miracles; to another, prophecy; to another, discerning of spirits; to another, divers kinds of languages; to another, the interpretation of languages:

⁴ He that speaketh in an unknown language edifieth himself; but he that prophesieth edifieth the church. ⁵ I would that ye all spoke in languages, but rather that ye prophesied: for greater is he that prophesieth than he that speaketh in languages, except he interpret, that the church may receive edifying. ⁶ Now, brethren, if I come to you speaking in languages, what shall I profit you, except I shall speak to you either by revelation, or by knowledge, or by prophesying, or by doctrine?

²⁷ If any man speaketh in an unknown language, let it be by two, or at the most by three, and that by course; and let one interpret.

⁴⁰ Let all things be done decently, and in order.

¹⁹ Again, think ye that we excuse ourselves to you? we speak before God in Christ: but we do all things, dearly beloved, for your edification.

¹⁰ Therefore I write these things being absent, lest being present I should use sharpness, according to the power which the Lord hath given me to edification, and not to destruction.

¹² For the perfecting of the saints, for the work of the ministry, for the edifying of the body of Christ:

¹⁶ From whom the whole body fitly joined together and compacted by that which every joint supplieth, according to the effectual working in the measure of every part, maketh increase of the body to the edifying of itself in love.

¹⁹ Speaking to yourselves in psalms, and hymns, and spiritual songs, singing and making melody in your heart to the Lord,

¹¹ Wherefore, comfort yourselves together, and edify one another, even as also ye do.

¹⁹ Quench not the spirit. ²⁰ Despise not prophesyings. ²¹ Prove all things; hold fast that which is good.

¹ Beloved, believe not every spirit, but try the spirits whether they are of God: because many false prophets have gone out into the world. ² By this ye know the Spirit of God: Every spirit that confesseth that Jesus Christ hath come in the flesh, is from God: ³ And every spirit that confesseth not that Jesus Christ is come in the flesh, is not from God. And this is that spirit of antichrist, of which ye have heard that it should come; and even now already it is in the world.

¹¹ Behold, I waited for your words; I gave ear to your reasons, whilst ye searched out what to say.

¹⁵ They were amazed, they answered no more: they left off speaking. ¹⁶ When I had waited, (for they spoke not, but stood still, and answered no more;) ¹⁷ I said, I will answer also my part, I also will show my opinion. ¹⁸ For I am full of matter, the spirit within me constraineth me. ¹⁹ Behold, my belly is as wine which hath no vent; it is ready to burst like new bottles. ²⁰ I will speak, that I may be refreshed: I will open my lips and answer.

³¹ Mark well, O Job, hearken to me: hold thy peace, and I will speak. ³² If thou hast any thing to say, answer me: speak, for I desire to justify thee. ³³ If not, hearken to me: hold thy peace, and I shall teach thee wisdom.

¹⁹ Quench not the spirit. ²⁰ Despise not prophesyings.

⁵ A wise man will hear, and will increase learning; and a man of understanding shall attain to wise counsels:

⁹ Give instruction to a wise man, and he will be yet wiser: teach a just man, and he will increase in learning.

¹² That is, that I may be comforted together with you, by the mutual faith both of you and me.

³⁵ And if they will learn any thing, let them ask their husbands at home; for it is a shame for women to speak in the church.

⁶ Nevertheless God, that comforteth those that are cast down, comforted us by the coming of Titus; ⁷ And not by his coming only, but by the consolation with which he was comforted in you, when he told us your earnest desire, your mourning, your fervent mind towards me; so that I rejoiced the more.

¹¹ And he gave some, apostles; and some, prophets; and some, evangelists; and some, pastors and teachers; ¹² For the perfecting of the saints, for the work of the ministry, for the edifying of the body of Christ:

¹⁴ Now we exhort you, brethren, warn them that are disorderly, comfort the feeble-minded, support the weak, be patient towards all men.

¹⁰ And when they came thither to the hill, behold, a company of prophets met him; and the Spirit of God came upon him, and he prophesied among them. ¹¹ And it came to pass when all that formerly knew him saw, that, behold, he prophesied among the prophets, then the people said one to another, What is this that hath come to the son of Kish? Is Saul also among the prophets? ¹² And one of the same place answered and said, But who is their father? Therefore it became a proverb, Is Saul also among the prophets? ¹³ And when he had made an end of prophesying, he came to the high place.

¹⁹ And it was told to Saul, saying, Behold, David is at Naioth in Ramah. ²⁰ And Saul sent messengers to take David: and when they saw the company of the prophets prophesying, and Samuel standing as appointed over them, the Spirit of God was upon the messengers of Saul, and they also prophesied. ²¹ And when it was told Saul, he sent other messengers, and they prophesied likewise. And Saul sent messengers again the third time, and they prophesied also. ²² Then he went also to Ramah, and came to a great well that is in Sechu: and he asked and said, Where are Samuel and David? And one said, Behold, they are at Naioth in Ramah. ²³ And he went thither to Naioth in Ramah: and the Spirit of God was upon him also, and he went on, and prophesied, until he came to Naioth in Ramah. ²⁴ And he stripped off his clothes also, and prophesied before Samuel in like manner, and lay down naked all that day and all that night. Wherefore they say, Is Saul also among the prophets?

³ And the sons of the prophets that were at Beth-el came forth to Elisha, and said to him, Knowest thou that the LORD will take away thy master from thy head to-day? And he said, Yes, I know it; hold ye your peace.

⁵ And the sons of the prophets that were at Jericho came to Elisha, and said to him, Knowest thou that the LORD will take away thy master from thy head to-day? And he answered, Yes, I know it; hold ye your peace.

⁸ But there is a spirit in man: and the inspiration of the Almighty giveth them understanding. ⁹ Great men are not always wise: neither do the aged understand judgment. ¹⁰ Therefore I said, Hearken to me; I also will show my opinion. ¹¹ Behold, I waited for your words; I gave ear to your reasons, whilst ye searched out what to say.

⁹ Then I said, I will not make mention of him, nor speak any more in his name. But his word was in my heart as a burning fire shut up in my bones, and I was weary with forbearing, and I could not stay.

¹⁹ But Peter and John answered and said to them, Whether it is right in the sight of God to hearken to you rather than to God, judge ye. ²⁰ For we cannot but speak the things which we have seen and heard.

¹ Beloved, believe not every spirit, but try the spirits whether they are of God: because many false prophets have gone out into the world.

¹⁴ Glory to God in the highest, and on earth peace, good will towards men.

¹³ Then Ananias answered, Lord, I have heard by many of this man, how much evil he hath done to thy saints at Jerusalem:

³³ Now the God of peace be with you all. Amen.

¹⁷ For this cause have I sent to you Timothy, who is my beloved son, and faithful in the Lord, who will bring you into remembrance of my ways which are in Christ, as I teach every where in every church.

¹⁵ But if the unbelieving departeth, let him depart. A brother or a sister is not under bondage in such cases; but God hath called us to peace.

¹⁷ But as God hath distributed to every man, as the Lord hath called every one, so let him walk. And so I ordain in all churches.

¹⁶ But if any man seemeth to be contentious, we have no such custom, neither the churches of God.

²² But the fruit of the Spirit is love, joy, peace, long-suffering, gentleness, goodness, faith,

¹⁶ Now the Lord of peace himself give you peace always by all means. The Lord be with you all.

²⁰ Now the God of peace, that brought again from the dead our Lord Jesus, that great Shepherd of the sheep, through the blood of the everlasting covenant,

¹⁷ But the wisdom that is from above is first pure, then peaceable, gentle, and easy to be entreated, full of mercy and good fruits, without partiality, and without hypocrisy. ¹⁸ And the fruit of righteousness is sown in peace by them that make peace.

¹⁶ To the woman he said, I will greatly multiply thy sorrow and thy conception; in sorrow thou shalt bring forth children: and thy desire shall be to thy husband, and he shall rule over thee.

³ (30:2)If a man shall vow a vow to the LORD, or swear an oath to bind his soul with a bond; he shall not break his word; he shall do according to all that proceedeth out of his mouth. ⁴ (30:3)If a woman also shall vow a vow to the LORD, and bind herself by a bond, being in her father's house in her youth; ⁵ (30:4)And her father shall hear her vow, and her bond with which she hath bound her soul, and her father shall hold his peace at her: then all her vows shall stand, and every bond with which she hath bound her soul shall stand. ⁶ (30:5)But if her father shall disallow her in the day that he heareth; not any of her vows or of her bonds with which she hath bound her soul shall stand: and the LORD shall forgive her, because her father disallowed her. ⁷ (30:6)And if she had a husband when she vowed, or uttered aught from her lips, with which she bound her soul; ⁸ (30:7)And her husband heard it, and held his peace at her in the day that he heard it: then her vows shall stand, and her bonds with which she bound her soul shall stand. ⁹ (30:8)But if her husband disallowed her on the day that he heard it; then he shall make of no effect her vow which she vowed, and that which she uttered with her lips, with which she bound her soul: and the LORD shall forgive her. ¹⁰ (30:9)But every vow of a widow, and of her that is divorced, with which they have bound their souls, shall stand against her. ¹¹ (30:10)And if she vowed in her husband's house, or bound her soul by a bond with an oath; ¹² (30:11)And her husband heard it, and held his peace at her, and disallowed her not: then all her vows shall stand, and every bond with which she bound her soul shall stand. ¹³ (30:12)But if her husband hath utterly made them void on the day he heard them; then whatever proceeded out of her lips concerning her vows, or concerning the bond of her soul, shall not stand: her husband hath made them void; and the LORD shall forgive her.

¹⁷ For this deed of the queen will come abroad to all women, so that they will despise their husbands in their eyes, when it shall be reported, The king Ahasuerus commanded Vashti the queen to be brought in before him, but she came not. ¹⁸ Likewise will the ladies of Persia and Media say this day to all the king's princes, who have heard of the deed of the queen. Thus will there arise too much contempt and wrath. ¹⁹ If it pleaseth the king, let a royal commandment go from him, and let it be written among the laws of the Persians and the Medes, that it be not altered, That Vashti come no more before king Ahasuerus; and let the king give her royal estate to another that is better than she. ²⁰ And when the king's decree which he shall make shall be published throughout all his empire, (for it is great,) all the wives will give to their husbands honor, both to great and small.

³ But I would have you know, that the head of every man is Christ; and the head of the woman is the man; and the head of Christ is God.

⁵ But every woman that prayeth or prophesieth with her head uncovered, dishonoreth her head: for that is even all one as if she were shaved.

⁷ For a man indeed ought not to cover his head, forasmuch as he is the image and glory of God: but the woman is the glory of the man. ⁸ For the man is not from the woman, but the woman from the man. ⁹ Neither was the man created for the woman, but the woman for the man. ¹⁰ For this cause ought the woman to have power on her head, because of the angels.

²² Wives, submit yourselves to your own husbands, as to the Lord. ²³ For the husband is the head of the wife, even as Christ is the head of the church: and he is the Savior of the body. ²⁴ Therefore as the church is subject to Christ, so let wives be to their own husbands in every thing.

³³ Nevertheless, let every one of you in particular so love his wife even as himself: and the wife see that she reverence her husband.

¹⁸ Wives, submit yourselves to your own husbands, as it is fit in the Lord.

¹¹ Let the woman learn in silence with all subjection. ¹² But I suffer not a woman to teach, nor to usurp authority over the man, but to be in silence.

⁵ To be discreet, chaste, keepers at home, good, obedient to their own husbands, that the word of God be not blasphemed.

¹ Likewise, ye wives, be in subjection to your own husbands; that, if any obey not the word, they also may without the word be won by the deportment of the wives; ² While they behold your chaste manner of life coupled with fear. ³ Whose adorning let it not be that outward adorning of plaiting the hair, and of wearing gold, or of putting on apparel; ⁴ But let it be the hidden man of the heart, in that which is not corruptible, even the ornament of a meek and quiet spirit, which is in the sight of God of great price. ⁵ For after this manner in former times the holy women also, who trusted in God, adorned themselves, being in subjection to their own husbands: ⁶ Even as Sarah obeyed Abraham, calling him lord: whose daughters ye are, as long as ye do well, and are not afraid with any amazement.

⁶ For if the woman is not covered, let her also be shorn: but if it is a shame for a woman to be shorn or shaved, let her be covered.

¹⁴ Doth not even nature itself teach you, that if a man hath long hair, it is a shame to him?

³⁴ Let your women keep silence in the churches; for it is not permitted to them to speak: but they are commanded to be under obedience, as also saith the law.

¹² For it is a shame even to speak of those things which are done by them in secret.

²⁵ Husbands, love your wives, even as Christ also loved the church, and gave himself for it; ²⁶ That he might sanctify and cleanse it with the washing of water by the word, ²⁷ That he might present it to himself a glorious church, not having spot or wrinkle, or any such thing; but that it should be holy and without blemish.

⁷ Likewise, ye husbands, dwell with them according to knowledge, giving honor to the wife, as to the weaker vessel, and as being heirs together of the grace of life; that your prayers be not hindered.

³ And many people shall go and say, Come ye, and let us go up to the mountain of the LORD, to the house of the God of Jacob; and he will teach us of his ways, and we will walk in his paths: for out of Zion shall go forth the law, and the word of the LORD from Jerusalem.

¹ But in the last days it shall come to pass, that the mount of the house of the LORD shall be established on the top of the mountains, and it shall be exalted above the hills; and people shall flow to it. ² And many nations shall come, and say, Come, and let us go up to the mountain of the LORD, and to the house of the God of Jacob; and he will teach us of his ways, and we will walk in his paths: for the law shall go forth from Zion, and the word of the LORD from Jerusalem.

⁸ And it shall be in that day, that living waters shall go out from Jerusalem; half of them towards the former sea, and half of them towards the hinder sea: in summer and in winter shall it be.

¹ Now there were in the church that was at Antioch certain prophets and teachers; as Barnabas, and Simeon that was called Niger, and Lucius of Cyrene, and Manaen, who had been brought up with Herod the tetrarch, and Saul. ² As they ministered to the Lord, and fasted, the Holy Spirit said, Separate for me Barnabas and Saul, for the work to which I have called them. ³ And when they had fasted and prayed, and laid their hands on them, they sent them away.

³⁵ Paul also and Barnabas continued in Antioch, teaching and preaching the word of the Lord, with many others also. ³⁶ And some days after, Paul said to Barnabas, Let us go again and visit our brethren, in every city where we have preached the word of the Lord, and see how they do.

⁹ And a vision appeared to Paul in the night: There stood a man of Macedonia, and prayed him, saying, Come over into Macedonia, and help us. ¹⁰ And after he had seen the vision, immediately we endeavored to go into Macedonia, assuredly gathering, that the Lord had called us to preach the gospel to them.

¹ Now when they had passed through Amphipolis, and Apollonia, they came to Thessalonica, where was a synagogue of the Jews.

¹⁰ And the brethren immediately sent away Paul and Silas by night to Berea: who coming thither, went into the synagogue of the Jews. ¹¹ These were more noble than those in Thessalonica, in that they received the word with all readiness of mind, and searched the scriptures daily, whether those things were so.

¹⁵ And they that conducted Paul brought him to Athens: and receiving a commandment to Silas and Timothy to come to him with all speed, they departed.

¹ After these things, Paul departed from Athens, and came to Corinth; ² And found a certain Jew named Aquila, born in Pontus, lately come from Italy, with his wife Priscilla (because that Claudius had commanded all Jews to depart from Rome) and he came to them. ³ And because he was of the same occupation, he abode with them, and wrought (for by their occupation they were tent-makers) ⁴ And he reasoned in the synagogue every sabbath, and persuaded the Jews and the Greeks. ⁵ And when Silas and Timothy had come from Macedonia, Paul was pressed in spirit, and testified to the Jews, that Jesus was Christ. ⁶ And when they opposed themselves, and blasphemed, he shook his raiment, and said to them, Your blood be upon your own heads: I am clean: from henceforth I will go to the Gentiles. ⁷ And he departed thence, and entered into the house of a certain man named Justus, one that worshiped God, whose house joined close to the synagogue. ⁸ And Crispus the chief ruler of the synagogue believed on the Lord with all his house: and many of the Corinthians hearing, believed, and were baptized. ⁹ Then the Lord spoke to Paul in the night by a vision, Be not afraid, but speak, and hold not thy peace: ¹⁰ For I am with thee, and no man shall lay hands on thee, to hurt thee: for I have many people in this city. ¹¹ And he continued there a year and six months, teaching the word of God among them. ¹² And when Gallio was the deputy of Achaia, the Jews made insurrection with one accord against Paul, and brought him to the judgment-seat, ¹³ Saying, This man persuadeth men to worship God contrary to the law. ¹⁴ And when Paul was now about to open his mouth, Gallio said to the Jews, If it were a matter of wrong, or hainous crime, O ye Jews, reason would that I should bear with you: ¹⁵ But if it is a question of words and names, and of your law, look ye to it: for I will be no judge of such matters. ¹⁶ And he drove them from the judgment-seat. ¹⁷ Then all the Greeks took Sosthenes, the chief ruler of the synagogue, and beat him before the judgment-seat. And Gallio cared for none of those things.

¹³ But we will not boast of things without our measure, but according to the measure of the rule which God hath distributed to us, a measure to reach even to you. ¹⁴ For we stretch not ourselves beyond our measure, as though we reached not to you; for we are come as far as to you also in preaching the gospel of Christ: ¹⁵ Not boasting of things without our measure, that is, of other men's labors; but having hope, when your faith is increased, that we shall be enlarged by you, according to our rule abundantly, ¹⁶ To preach the gospel in the regions beyond you, and not to boast in another man's line of things made ready to our hand.

⁸ For from you sounded out the word of the Lord not only in Macedonia and Achaia, but also in every place your faith toward God is spread abroad; so that we need not to speak any thing.

³ And he took up his parable, and said, Balaam the son of Beor hath said, and the man whose eyes are open hath said: ⁴ He hath said, who heard the words of God, who saw the vision of the Almighty, falling into a trance, but having his eyes open:

¹⁶ He hath said, who heard the words of God, and knew the knowledge of the Most High, who saw the vision of the Almighty, falling into a trance, but having his eyes open:

¹⁶ He that heareth you, heareth me; and he that despiseth you, despiseth me; and he that despiseth me, despiseth him that sent me.

³ For through the grace given to me, I say, to every man that is among you, not to think of himself more highly than he ought to think; but to think soberly, according as God hath dealt to every man the measure of faith.

²⁵ Now concerning virgins, I have no commandment of the Lord: yet I give my judgment as one that hath obtained mercy from the Lord to be faithful.

⁴⁰ But she is happier if she so remain, after my judgment; and I think also that I have the Spirit of God.

² And if any man thinketh that he knoweth any thing, he knoweth nothing yet as he ought to know.

¹ Though I speak with the tongues of men and of angels, and have not charity, I am become as sounding brass, or a tinkling cymbal.

⁷ Do ye look on things after the outward appearance? If any man trusteth to himself that he is Christ's, let him of himself think this again, that, as he is Christ's, even so are we Christ's.

¹² For we dare not make ourselves of the number, or compare ourselves with some that commend themselves: but they measuring themselves by themselves, and comparing themselves among themselves, are not wise.

⁴ For if he that cometh preacheth another Jesus, whom we have not preached, or if ye receive another spirit, which ye have not received, or another gospel, which ye have not accepted, ye might well bear with him.

¹² But what I do, that I will do, that I may cut off occasion from them who desire occasion; that in what they glory, they may be found even as we. ¹³ For such are false apostles, deceitful workers, transforming themselves into the apostles of Christ. ¹⁴ And no wonder; for Satan himself is transformed into an angel of light. ¹⁵ Therefore it is no great thing if his ministers also are transformed as the ministers of righteousness; whose end shall be according to their works.

⁸ For he that soweth to his flesh shall from the flesh reap corruption: but he that soweth to the Spirit, shall from the Spirit reap life everlasting.

¹ Furthermore then we beseech you, brethren, and exhort you by the Lord Jesus, that as ye have received from us how ye ought to walk and to please God, so ye would abound more and more. ² For ye know what commandments we gave you by the Lord Jesus. ³ For this is the will of God, even your sanctification, that ye should abstain from lewdness. ⁴ That every one of you should know how to possess his vessel in sanctification and honor; ⁵ Not in the lust of concupiscence, even as the Gentiles who know not God: ⁶ That no man go beyond and defraud his brother in any matter: because the Lord is the avenger of all such, as we also have forewarned you and testified. ⁷ For God hath not called us to uncleanness, but to holiness. ⁸ He therefore that despiseth, despiseth not man, but God, who hath also given to us his holy Spirit.

² That ye may be mindful of the words which were spoken before by the holy prophets, and of the commandment of us the apostles of the Lord and Savior:

⁶ We are of God. He that knoweth God, heareth us; he that is not of God, heareth not us. By this we know the spirit of truth, and the spirit of error.

¹⁷ But, beloved, remember ye the words which were spoken before by the apostles of our Lord Jesus Christ;

¹⁷ Ephraim is joined to idols: let him alone.

⁶ Give not that which is holy to dogs, neither cast ye your pearls before swine, lest they trample them under their feet, and turn again and rend you.

¹⁴ Let them alone: they are blind leaders of the blind. And if the blind leadeth the blind, both will fall into the ditch.

³ If any man teacheth otherwise, and consenteth not to wholesome words, even the words of our Lord Jesus Christ, and the doctrine which is according to godliness, ⁴ He is proud, knowing nothing, but doting about questions and strifes of words, from which cometh envy, strife, railings, evil surmisings, ⁵ Perverse disputings of men of corrupt minds, and destitute of the truth, supposing gain to be godliness: from such withdraw thyself.

³ For the time will come, when they will not endure sound doctrine; but after their own lusts will they multiply to themselves teachers, having itching ears; ⁴ And they will turn away their ears from the truth, and will be turned to fables.

¹¹ He that is unjust, let him be unjust still: and he who is filthy, let him be filthy still: and he that is righteous, let him be righteous still: and he that is holy, let him be holy still. ¹² And behold, I come quickly; and my reward is with me, to give to every man according as his work shall be.

¹³ Let us walk honestly, as in the day; not in rioting and drunkenness, not in chambering and wantonness, not in strife and envying.

³⁴ And if any man hungereth, let him eat at home; that ye come not together to condemnation. And the rest will I set in order when I come.

²⁶ How is it then, brethren? when ye are assembled, every one of you hath a psalm, hath a doctrine, hath a language, hath a revelation, hath an interpretation. Let all things be done to edification. ²⁷ If any man speaketh in an unknown language, let it be by two, or at the most by three, and that by course; and let one interpret. ²⁸ But if there is no interpreter, let him keep silence in the church; and let him speak to himself, and to God. ²⁹ Let the prophets speak two or three, and let the others judge. ³⁰ If any thing is revealed to another that sitteth by, let the first hold his peace. ³¹ For ye may all prophesy one by one, that all may learn, and all may be comforted. ³² And the spirits of the prophets are subject to the prophets. ³³ For God is not the author of confusion, but of peace, as in all churches of the saints.

⁵ For though I am absent in the flesh, yet I am with you in the spirit, joying and beholding your order, and the steadfastness of your faith in Christ.

⁵ For this cause I left thee in Crete, that thou shouldst set in order the things that are wanting, and ordain elders in every city, as I had appointed thee:
