²⁷ Thy first father hath sinned, and thy teachers have transgressed against me.

¹⁴ And behold, ye have risen up in your fathers' stead, an increase of sinful men, to augment yet the fierce anger of the LORD towards Israel.

¹³ For the sins of her prophets, and the iniquities of her priests, that have shed the blood of the just in the midst of her. ¹⁴ They have wandered as blind men in the streets, they have polluted themselves with blood, so that men could not touch their garments.

³ And say, Thus saith the Lord GOD to Jerusalem; Thy birth and thy nativity is of the land of Canaan; thy father was an Amorite, and thy mother a Hittite.

⁷ Even from the days of your fathers ye have gone away from my ordinances, and have not kept them. Return to me, and I will return to you, saith the LORD of hosts. But ye said, In what shall we return?

¹⁴ Let them alone: they are blind leaders of the blind. And if the blind leadeth the blind, both will fall into the ditch.

¹ When the morning was come, all the chief priests and elders of the people took counsel against Jesus to put him to death.

⁴¹ Likewise also the chief priests mocking him, with the scribes and elders, said,

⁴⁹ And one of them, named Caiaphas, being the high priest that same year, said to them, Ye know nothing at all, ⁵⁰ Nor consider that it is expedient for us, that one man should die for the people, and that the whole nation perish not. ⁵¹ And this he spoke not of himself: but being high priest that year, he prophesied that Jesus should die for that nation; ⁵² And not for that nation only, but that also he should assemble in one the children of God that were scattered abroad. ⁵³ Then from that day forth they took counsel together to put him to death.

¹⁷ Then the high priest rose up, and all they that were with him; (which is the sect of the Sadducees) and were filled with indignation, ¹⁸ And laid their hands on the apostles, and put them in the common prison.

⁵¹ Ye stiff-necked, and uncircumcised in heart and ears, ye do always resist the Holy Spirit: as your fathers did, so do ye.

¹² Wherefore as by one man sin entered into the world, and death by sin; and so death passed upon all men, for that all have sinned.
