¹ After these things Jesus went over the sea of Galilee, which is the sea of Tiberias. ² And a great multitude followed him, because they saw his miracles which he performed on them that were diseased. ³ And Jesus went upon a mountain, and there he sat with his disciples. ⁴ And the passover, a feast of the Jews, was nigh. ⁵ When Jesus then lifted up his eyes, and saw a great company come to him, he saith to Philip, Whence shall we buy bread that these may eat? ⁶ (And this he said to prove him: for he himself knew what he would do.) ⁷ Philip answered him, Two hundred penny-worth of bread is not sufficient for them, that every one of them make take a little: ⁸ One of his disciples, Andrew, Simon Peter's brother, saith to him, ⁹ There is a lad here, who hath five barley-loaves, and two small fishes: but what are they among so many? ¹⁰ And Jesus said, Make the men sit down. So the men sat down in number about five thousand. ¹¹ And Jesus took the loaves; and when he had given thanks, he distributed to the disciples, and the disciples to them that were set down; and likewise of the fishes, as much as they would. ¹² When they were satisfied, he said to his disciples, Gather the fragments that remain, that nothing may be lost. ¹³ Therefore they gathered them, and filled twelve baskets with the fragments of the five barley-loaves, which remained over and above to them that had eaten. ¹⁴ Then those men, when they had seen the miracle that Jesus performed, said, This is truly that prophet that should come into the world. ¹⁵ When Jesus therefore perceived that they would come and take him by force, to make him a king, he departed again to a mountain himself alone. ¹⁶ And when evening had now come, his disciples went down to the sea, ¹⁷ And entered into a boat, and went over the sea towards Capernaum. And it was now dark, and Jesus had not come to them. ¹⁸ And the sea arose by reason of a great wind that blew. ¹⁹ So when they had rowed about five and twenty or thirty furlongs, they see Jesus walking on the sea, and drawing nigh to the boat: and they were afraid. ²⁰ But he saith to them, It is I; be not afraid. ²¹ Then they willingly received him into the boat: and immediately the boat was at the land whither they were going. ²² The day following, when the people who stood on the other side of the sea saw that there was no other boat there, save that one into which his disciples had entered, and that Jesus went not with his disciples into the boat, but that his disciples had gone away alone; ²³ (Yet there came other boats from Tiberias nigh to the place where they ate bread, after the Lord had given thanks:) ²⁴ When the people therefore saw that Jesus was not there, neither his disciples, they also took boats, and came to Capernaum, seeking for Jesus. ²⁵ And when they had found him on the other side of the sea, they said to him, Rabbi, when camest thou hither? ²⁶ Jesus answered them and said, Verily, verily, I say to you, Ye seek me, not because ye saw the miracles, but because ye ate of the loaves, and were satisfied. ²⁷ Labor not for the food which perisheth, but for that food which endureth to everlasting life, which the Son of man will give to you: for him hath God the Father sealed. ²⁸ Then said they to him, What shall we do, that we may work the works of God? ²⁹ Jesus answered and said to them, This is the work of God, that ye believe on him whom he hath sent. ³⁰ They said therefore to him, What sign showest thou then, that we may see, and believe thee? what dost thou work? ³¹ Our fathers ate manna in the desert; as it is written, He gave them bread from heaven to eat. ³² Then Jesus said to them, Verily, verily, I say to you, Moses gave you not that bread from heaven; but my Father giveth you the true bread from heaven. ³³ For the bread of God is he who cometh down from heaven, and giveth life to the world. ³⁴ Then said they to him, Lord, evermore give us this bread. ³⁵ And Jesus said to them, I am the bread of life: he that cometh to me, shall never hunger; and he that believeth on me, shall never thirst. ³⁶ But I said to you, That ye also have seen me, and believe not. ³⁷ All that the Father giveth me, shall come to me; and him that cometh to me, I will in no wise reject. ³⁸ For I came down from heaven, not to do my own will, but the will of him that sent me. ³⁹ And this is the Father's will who hath sent me, that of all which he hath given me, I should lose nothing, but should raise it up again at the last day. ⁴⁰ And this is the will of him that sent me, that every one who seeth the Son, and believeth on him, may have everlasting life: and I will raise him up at the last day. ⁴¹ The Jews then murmured at him, because he said, I am the bread which came down from heaven. ⁴² And they said, Is not this Jesus the son of Joseph, whose father and mother we know? how is it then that he saith, I came down from heaven? ⁴³ Jesus therefore answered and said to them, Murmur not among yourselves. ⁴⁴ No man can come to me, except the Father who hath sent me draw him: and I will raise him up at the last day. ⁴⁵ It is written in the prophets, And they shall be all taught from God. Every man therefore that hath heard, and hath learned from the Father, cometh to me. ⁴⁶ Not that any man hath seen the Father, save he who is from God, he hath seen the Father. ⁴⁷ Verily, verily, I say to you, He that believeth on me hath everlasting life. ⁴⁸ I am that bread of life. ⁴⁹ Your fathers ate manna in the wilderness, and are dead. ⁵⁰ This is the bread which cometh down from heaven, that a man may eat of it, and not die. ⁵¹ I am the living bread which came down from heaven: if any man shall eat of this bread, he shall live for ever: and the bread that I will give is my flesh, which I will give for the life of the world. ⁵² The Jews therefore contended among themselves, saying, How can this man give us his flesh to eat? ⁵³ Then Jesus said to them, Verily, verily, I say to you, Except ye eat the flesh of the Son of man, and drink his blood, ye have no life in you. ⁵⁴ Whoever eateth my flesh, and drinketh my blood, hath eternal life; and I will raise him up at the last day. ⁵⁵ For my flesh is food indeed, and my blood is drink indeed. ⁵⁶ He that eateth my flesh, and drinketh my blood, dwelleth in me, and I in him. ⁵⁷ As the living Father hath sent me, and I live by the Father: so he that eateth me, even he shall live by me. ⁵⁸ This is that bread which came down from heaven: not as your fathers ate manna, and are dead: he that eateth of this bread shall live for ever. ⁵⁹ These things he said in the synagogue, as he taught in Capernaum. ⁶⁰ Many therefore of his disciples, when they had heard this, said, This is a hard saying; who can hear it? ⁶¹ When Jesus knew in himself that his disciples murmured at it, he said to them, Doth this offend you? ⁶² What if ye shall see the Son of man ascend up where he was before? ⁶³ It is the spirit that reviveth; the flesh profiteth nothing: the words that I speak to you, they are spirit, and they are life. ⁶⁴ But there are some of you that believe not. For Jesus knew from the beginning who they were that believed not, and who he was that would betray him. ⁶⁵ And he said, Therefore I said to you, that no man can come to me, except it were given to him by my Father. ⁶⁶ From that time many of his disciples went back, and walked no more with him. ⁶⁷ Then said Jesus to the twelve, Will ye also go away? ⁶⁸ Then Simon Peter answered him, Lord, to whom shall we go? thou hast the words of eternal life. ⁶⁹ And we believe, and are sure that thou art that Christ, the Son of the living God. ⁷⁰ Jesus answered them, Have not I chosen you twelve, and one of you is a devil? ⁷¹ He spoke of Judas Iscariot the son of Simon: for it was he that was to betray him, being one of the twelve.

¹¹ And the limit shall go down from Shepham to Riblah, on the east side of Ain; and the border shall descend, and shall reach to the side of the sea of Chinnereth eastward:

¹⁸ And Jesus, walking by the sea of Galilee, saw two brethren, Simon called Peter, and Andrew his brother, casting a net into the sea: for they were fishers.

¹³ When Jesus heard of it, he departed thence in a boat, into a desert place apart: and when the people had heard of it, they followed him on foot out of the cities. ¹⁴ And Jesus went forth, and saw a great multitude, and was moved with compassion towards them, and he healed their sick. ¹⁵ And when it was evening, his disciples came to him, saying, This is a desert place, and the time is now past; send the multitude away, that they may go into the villages, and buy themselves victuals. ¹⁶ But Jesus said to them, They need not depart; give ye them to eat. ¹⁷ And they say to him, We have here but five loaves, and two fishes. ¹⁸ He said, Bring them hither to me. ¹⁹ And he commanded the multitude to sit down on the grass, and took the five loaves, and the two fishes, and looking up to heaven, he blessed, and broke, and gave the loaves to his disciples, and the disciples to the multitude. ²⁰ And they all ate, and were satisfied: and they took up of the fragments that remained twelve baskets full. ²¹ And they that had eaten were about five thousand men, besides women and children.

²⁹ And Jesus departed from thence, and came nigh to the sea of Galilee; and ascended a mountain, and sat down there.

³¹ And he said to them, Come ye yourselves apart into a desert place, and rest a while: for there were many coming and going, and they had no leisure so much as to eat. ³² And they departed into a desert place in a boat privately. ³³ And the people saw them departing, and many knew him, and ran on foot thither out of all cities, and out went them, and came together to him. ³⁴ And Jesus, when he came out, saw many people, and was moved with compassion towards them, because they were as sheep not having a shepherd: and he began to teach them many things. ³⁵ And when the day was now far spent, his disciples came to him, and said, This is a desert place, and now the time is far passed: ³⁶ Send them away, that they may go into the country around, and into the villages, and buy themselves bread: for they have nothing to eat. ³⁷ He answered and said to them, Give ye them to eat. And they say to him, Shall we go and buy two hundred pennyworth of bread, and give them to eat? ³⁸ He saith to them, How many loaves have ye? go and see. And when they knew, they say, Five, and two fishes. ³⁹ And he commanded them to make all sit down by companies upon the green grass. ⁴⁰ And they sat down in ranks, by hundreds, and by fifties. ⁴¹ And when he had taken the five loaves, and the two fishes, he looked up to heaven, and blessed, and broke the loaves, and gave them to his disciples to set before them; and the two fishes he divided among them all. ⁴² And they all ate, and were satisfied. ⁴³ And they took up twelve baskets full of the fragments, and of the fishes. ⁴⁴ And they that ate of the loaves, were about five thousand men.

¹ And it came to pass, that as the people pressed upon him to hear the word of God, he stood by the lake of Gennesaret.

¹⁰ And the apostles, when they had returned, told him all that they had done. And he took them, and went aside privately into a desert place, belonging to the city called Bethsaida. ¹¹ And the people, when they knew it, followed him: and he received them, and spoke to them of the kingdom of God, and healed them that had need of healing. ¹² And when the day began to decline, then came the twelve, and said to him, Send the multitude away, that they may go into the towns and country around, and lodge, and get victuals: for we are here in a desert place. ¹³ But he said to them, Give ye them to eat. And they said, We have no more than five loaves and two fishes; except we should go and buy provisions for all this people. ¹⁴ For they were about five thousand men. And he said to his disciples, Make them sit down by fifties in a company. ¹⁵ And they did so, and made them all sit down. ¹⁶ Then he took the five loaves, and the two fishes, and looking up to heaven, he blessed them, and broke, and gave to the disciples to set before the multitude. ¹⁷ And they ate, and were all satisfied: and there was taken up of fragments that remained to them, twelve baskets.

¹ After these things Jesus showed himself again to the disciples at the sea of Tiberias: and in this manner did he show himself.

²⁴ And his fame spread throughout all Syria: and they brought to him all sick people that were taken with diverse diseases and torments, and those who were possessed with demons, and those who were lunatic, and those that had the palsy; and he healed them. ²⁵ And there followed him great multitudes of people from Galilee, and from Decapolis, and from Jerusalem, and from Judea, and from beyond Jordan.

¹ When he had come down from the mountain, great multitudes followed him.

¹⁵ But when Jesus knew it, he withdrew himself from thence: and great multitudes followed him, and he healed them all.

² And great multitudes were gathered to him, so that he went into a boat, and sat down; and the whole multitude stood on the shore.

¹⁴ And Jesus went forth, and saw a great multitude, and was moved with compassion towards them, and he healed their sick.

³⁰ And great multitudes came to him, having with them those that were lame, blind, dumb, maimed, and many others, and cast them down at Jesus' feet; and he healed them: ³¹ So that the multitude wondered, when they saw the dumb to speak, the maimed to be whole, the lame to walk, and the blind to see: and they glorified the God of Israel.

³³ And the people saw them departing, and many knew him, and ran on foot thither out of all cities, and out went them, and came together to him.

¹¹ This beginning of miracles Jesus performed in Cana of Galilee, and manifested his glory; and his disciples believed on him.

²³ And when he had sent the multitudes away, he ascended a mountain apart to pray: and when the evening was come, he was there alone.

¹² And it came to pass in those days, that he went out to a mountain to pray, and continued all night in prayer to God. ¹³ And when it was day, he called to him his disciples: and of them he chose twelve, whom also he named Apostles;

²⁸ And it came to pass, about eight days after these sayings, he took Peter, and John, and James, and went up upon a mountain to pray.

¹⁵ When Jesus therefore perceived that they would come and take him by force, to make him a king, he departed again to a mountain himself alone.

⁶ And ye shall keep it until the fourteenth day of the same month: and the whole assembly of the congregation of Israel shall kill it in the evening. ⁷ And they shall take of the blood, and strike it on the two side-posts, and on the upper door-post of the houses, in which they shall eat it. ⁸ And they shall eat the flesh in that night, roasted with fire; and unleavened bread, and with bitter herbs they shall eat it. ⁹ Eat not of it raw, nor boiled at all with water, but roasted with fire; its head with its legs, and with its entrails. ¹⁰ And ye shall let nothing of it remain till the morning: and that which remaineth of it till the morning ye shall burn with fire. ¹¹ And thus shall ye eat it; with your loins girded, your shoes on your feet, and your staff in your hand: and ye shall eat it in haste; it is the LORD'S passover. ¹² For I will pass through the land of Egypt this night, and will smite all the first-born in the land of Egypt, both man and beast: and against all the gods of Egypt I will execute judgment: I am the LORD. ¹³ And the blood shall be to you for a token upon the houses where ye are: and when I see the blood, I will pass over you, and the plague shall not be upon you to destroy you, when I smite the land of Egypt. ¹⁴ And this day shall be to you for a memorial; and ye shall keep it a feast to the LORD throughout your generations: ye shall keep it a feast by an ordinance for ever.

⁵ In the fourteenth day of the first month at evening is the LORD'S passover.

⁷ In the first day ye shall have a holy convocation: ye shall do no servile work in it.

¹ Observe the month Abib, and keep the passover to the LORD thy God: for in the month of Abib the LORD thy God brought thee forth from Egypt by night.

¹³ And the Jews' passover was at hand, and Jesus went up to Jerusalem,

¹ After this there was a feast of the Jews: and Jesus went up to Jerusalem.

⁵⁵ And the Jews' passover was nigh at hand: and many went out of the country to Jerusalem before the passover, to purify themselves.

¹ Then Jesus, six days before the passover, came to Bethany, where Lazarus was who had been dead, whom he raised from the dead.

¹ Now before the feast of the passover, when Jesus knew that his hour was come that he should depart out of this world to the Father, having loved his own who were in the world, he loved them to the end.

³⁵ Say not ye, There are yet four months, and then cometh harvest? behold, I say to you, Lift up your eyes, and look on the fields; for they are white already to harvest.

⁴³ And his servitor said, What, should I set this before a hundred men? He said again, Give the people, that they may eat: for thus saith the LORD, They shall eat, and shall leave of it.

²⁸ But the same servant went out, and found one of his fellow-servants, who owed him a hundred pence: and he laid hands on him, and took him by the throat, saying, Pay me what thou owest.

³⁷ He answered and said to them, Give ye them to eat. And they say to him, Shall we go and buy two hundred pennyworth of bread, and give them to eat?

⁵ Why was not this ointment sold for three hundred pence, and given to the poor?

⁴⁰ One of the two who heard John speak, and followed him, was Andrew, Simon Peter's brother. ⁴¹ He first findeth his own brother Simon, and saith to him, We have found the Messiah; which is, being interpreted, the Christ. ⁴² And he brought him to Jesus. And when Jesus beheld him, he said, Thou art Simon the son of Jona: thou shalt be called Cephas; which is, by interpretation, a stone. ⁴³ The day following Jesus would go forth into Galilee, and findeth Philip, and saith to him, follow me. ⁴⁴ Now Philip was of Bethsaida, the city of Andrew and Peter.

⁸ A land of wheat, and barley, and vines, and fig-trees, and pomegranates, a land of olive-oil, and honey;

¹⁴ Butter of cows, and milk of sheep, with fat of lambs, and rams of the breed of Bashan, and goats, with the fat of kidneys of wheat; and thou didst drink the pure blood of the grape.

²⁸ Barley also and straw for the horses and dromedaries they brought to the place where the officers were, every man according to his charge.

⁴² And there came a man from Baal-shalisha, and brought the man of God bread of the first fruits, twenty loaves of barley, and full ears of corn in its husk. And he said, Give to the people, that they may eat. ⁴³ And his servitor said, What, should I set this before a hundred men? He said again, Give the people, that they may eat: for thus saith the LORD, They shall eat, and shall leave of it. ⁴⁴ So he set it before them, and they ate, and left of it, according to the word of the LORD.

¹ Then Elisha said, Hear ye the word of the LORD; Thus saith the LORD, To-morrow about this time shall a measure of fine flour be sold for a shekel, and two measures of barley for a shekel, in the gate of Samaria.

¹⁹ Yes, they spoke against God; they said, Can God furnish a table in the wilderness?

⁴¹ Yes, they turned back and tempted God, and limited the Holy One of Israel.

¹⁶ (81:15)The haters of the LORD should have submitted themselves to him: and their time should have endured for ever.

⁹ For ye know the grace of our Lord Jesus Christ, that though he was rich, yet for your sakes he became poor, that ye through his poverty might be rich.

⁶ And I heard a voice in the midst of the four living beings say, A measure of wheat for a penny, and three measures of barley for a penny; and see thou hurt not the oil and the wine.

³⁵ And when he had thus spoken, he took bread, and gave thanks to God in presence of them all; and when he had broken it, he began to eat.

⁶ He that regardeth the day, regardeth it to the Lord: and he that regardeth not the day, to the Lord he doth not regard it. He that eateth, eateth to the Lord, for he giveth God thanks; and he that eateth not, to the Lord he eateth not, and giveth God thanks.

³¹ Whether therefore ye eat or drink, or whatever ye do, do all to the glory of God.

¹⁸ In every thing give thanks: for this is the will of God in Christ Jesus concerning you.

⁴ For every creature of God is good, and nothing to be refused, if received with thanksgiving: ⁵ For it is sanctified by the word of God, and prayer.

¹⁰ Then he said to them, Go your way, eat the fat, and drink the sweet, and send portions to them for whom nothing is prepared: for this day is holy to our Lord: neither be ye sad; for the joy of the LORD is your strength.

²⁵ And they took strong cities, and a fat land, and possessed houses full of all goods, wells digged, vineyards and olive-yards, and fruit trees in abundance: so they ate and were filled, and became fat, and delighted themselves in thy great goodness.

⁹ He also that is slothful in his work is brother to him that is a great waster.

³⁷ And they all ate and were filled: and they took up of the fragments that were left seven baskets full. ³⁸ And they that had eaten were four thousand men, besides women and children.

⁸ So they ate, and were satisfied: and they took up of the fragments that were left, seven baskets. ⁹ And they that had eaten were about four thousand: and he dismissed them.

⁵³ He hath filled the hungry with good things, and the rich he hath sent away empty.

¹⁷ And they ate, and were all satisfied: and there was taken up of fragments that remained to them, twelve baskets.

¹³ And not many days after, the younger son gathered all together, and took his journey into a far country, and there wasted his substance with riotous living.

¹ And he said also to his disciples, There was a certain rich man who had a steward; and the same was accused to him that he had wasted his goods.

¹⁵ For he cast two pillars of brass, each of eighteen cubits high: and a line of twelve cubits did encompass each of them. ¹⁶ And he made two capitals of molten brass, to set upon the tops of the pillars: the hight of the one capital was five cubits, and the hight of the other capital was five cubits:

² And Elisha said to her, What shall I do for thee? tell me, what hast thou in the house? And she said, Thy handmaid hath not any thing in the house, save a pot of oil. ³ Then he said, Go, borrow thee vessels abroad of all thy neighbors, even empty vessels; borrow not a few. ⁴ And when thou hast come in, thou shalt shut the door upon thee and upon thy sons, and shalt pour out into all those vessels, and thou shalt set aside that which is full. ⁵ So she went from him, and shut the door upon her and upon her sons, who brought the vessels to her; and she poured out. ⁶ And it came to pass, when the vessels were full, that she said to her son, Bring me yet a vessel. And he said to her, There is not a vessel more. And the oil stayed. ⁷ Then she came and told the man of God. And he said, Go, sell the oil, and pay thy debt, and live thou and thy children on the remainder.

⁹ And Amaziah said to the man of God, But what shall we do for the hundred talents which I have given to the army of Israel? And the man of God answered, The LORD is able to give thee much more than this.

²⁴ There is that scattereth, and yet increaseth; and there is that withholdeth more than is meet, but it tendeth to poverty. ²⁵ The liberal soul shall be made fat: and he that watereth shall be watered also himself.

⁸ And God is able to make all grace abound towards you; that ye always having all sufficiency in all things, may abound to every good work: ⁹ (As it is written, He hath dispersed; he hath given to the poor: his righteousness remaineth for ever.

¹⁹ But my God will supply all your need according to his riches in glory by Christ Jesus.

¹⁰ The scepter shall not depart from Judah, nor a lawgiver from between his feet, until Shiloh shall come: and to him shall be the gathering of the people.

¹⁵ The LORD thy God will raise up to thee a Prophet from the midst of thee, of thy brethren, like to me; to him ye shall hearken. ¹⁶ According to all that thou desiredst of the LORD thy God in Horeb in the day of the assembly, saying, Let me not hear again the voice of the LORD my God, neither let me see this great fire any more, that I may not die. ¹⁷ And the LORD said to me, They have well spoken of that which they have spoken. ¹⁸ I will raise up to them a prophet from among their brethren, like thee, and will put my words in his mouth; and he shall speak to them all that I shall command him.

³ And said to him, Art thou he that should come, or do we look for another?

¹¹ And the multitude said, This is Jesus the prophet of Nazareth of Galilee.

¹⁶ And there came a fear on all: and they glorified God, saying, That a great prophet hath risen among us; and, That God hath visited his people.

¹⁹ And he said to them, What things? And they said to him, Concerning Jesus of Nazareth, who was a prophet mighty in deed and word before God, and all the people:

²¹ And they asked him, What then? Art thou Elijah? and he saith, I am not. Art thou that prophet? And he answered, No.

¹⁹ The woman saith to him, Sir, I perceive that thou art a prophet.

²⁵ The woman saith to him, I know that Messiah cometh, who is called Christ; when he is come, he will tell us all things.

⁴² And said to the woman, Now we believe, not because of thy saying: for we have heard him ourselves, and know that this is indeed the Christ, the Savior of the world.

⁴⁰ Many of the people therefore, when they heard this saying, said, In truth this is the Prophet.

²² For Moses truly said to the fathers, A Prophet will the Lord your God raise up to you, of your brethren, like me; him shall ye hear in all things, whatever he shall say to you. ²³ And it shall come to pass, that every soul who will not hear that Prophet, shall be destroyed from among the people. ²⁴ And all the prophets also from Samuel, and those that follow, as many as have spoken, have likewise foretold these days.

³⁷ This is that Moses, who said to the children of Israel, A prophet will the Lord your God raise up to you of your brethren, like me; him will ye hear.

²² And immediately Jesus constrained his disciples to get into a boat, and to go before him to the other side, while he sent the multitudes away. ²³ And when he had sent the multitudes away, he ascended a mountain apart to pray: and when the evening was come, he was there alone. ²⁴ But the boat was now in the midst of the sea, tossed with waves: for the wind was contrary. ²⁵ And in the fourth watch of the night Jesus went to them, walking on the sea. ²⁶ And when the disciples saw him walking on the sea, they were troubled, saying, It is a spirit; and they cried out for fear. ²⁷ But immediately Jesus spoke to them, saying, Be of good cheer; it is I; be not afraid. ²⁸ And Peter answered him and said, Lord, if it is thou, bid me come to thee on the water. ²⁹ And he said, Come. And when Peter had come down out of the boat, he walked on the water, to go to Jesus. ³⁰ But when he saw the wind boisterous, he was afraid; and beginning to sink, he cried, saying, Lord, save me. ³¹ And immediately Jesus stretched forth his hand, and caught him, and said to him, O thou of little faith, Why didst thou doubt? ³² And when they had come into the boat, the wind ceased. ³³ Then they that were in the boat came and worshiped him, saying, In truth thou art the son of God.

⁴⁵ And immediately he constrained his disciples to get into the boat, and to go to the other side before to Bethsaida, while he sent away the people. ⁴⁶ And when he had dismissed them, he departed to a mountain to pray. ⁴⁷ And when evening was come, the boat was in the midst of the sea, and he alone on the land. ⁴⁸ And he saw them toiling in rowing; for the wind was contrary to them: and about the fourth watch of the night he cometh to them, walking upon the sea, and would have passed by them. ⁴⁹ But when they saw him walking upon the sea, they supposed it had been a spirit, and cried out. ⁵⁰ (For they all saw him, and were troubled.) And immediately he talked with them, and saith to them, Be of good cheer: It is I; be not afraid. ⁵¹ And he went up to them into the boat; and the wind ceased: and they were greatly amazed in themselves beyond measure, and wondered. ⁵² For they considered not the miracle of the loaves; for their heart was hardened.

⁹ And they that went before, and they that followed, cried, saying, Hosanna: Blessed is he that cometh in the name of the Lord.

³⁸ Saying, Blessed be the King that cometh in the name of the Lord: Peace in heaven, and glory in the highest.

²⁴ But Jesus did not commit himself to them, because he knew all men. ²⁵ And needed not that any should testify concerning man: for he knew what was in man.

⁴¹ I receive not honor from men.

³ And Jesus went upon a mountain, and there he sat with his disciples.

¹⁵ When Jesus therefore perceived that they would come and take him by force, to make him a king, he departed again to a mountain himself alone. ¹⁶ And when evening had now come, his disciples went down to the sea, ¹⁷ And entered into a boat, and went over the sea towards Capernaum. And it was now dark, and Jesus had not come to them. ¹⁸ And the sea arose by reason of a great wind that blew. ¹⁹ So when they had rowed about five and twenty or thirty furlongs, they see Jesus walking on the sea, and drawing nigh to the boat: and they were afraid. ²⁰ But he saith to them, It is I; be not afraid. ²¹ Then they willingly received him into the boat: and immediately the boat was at the land whither they were going.

³ His brethren therefore said to him, Depart hence, and go into Judea, that thy disciples also may see the works that thou doest. ⁴ For there is no man that doeth any thing in secret, and he himself seeketh to be known openly. If thou doest these things, show thyself to the world.

¹² On the next day, many people that had come to the feast, when they heard that Jesus was coming to Jerusalem, ¹³ Took branches of palm-trees, and went forth to meet him, and cried, Hosanna; Blessed is the King of Israel that cometh in the name of the Lord. ¹⁴ And Jesus, when he had found a young ass, sat thereon; as it is written, ¹⁵ Fear not, daughter of Sion: behold, thy King cometh, sitting on an ass's colt.

³⁶ Jesus answered, My kingdom is not of this world: if my kingdom were of this world, then would my servants fight, that I should not be delivered to the Jews: but now is my kingdom not from hence.

¹³ Neither is there any creature that is not manifest in his sight: but all things are naked and opened to the eyes of him with whom we have to do.

⁴⁵ And immediately he constrained his disciples to get into the boat, and to go to the other side before to Bethsaida, while he sent away the people.

¹² After this he went down to Capernaum, he, and his mother, and his brethren, and his disciples; and they continued there not many days.

⁴⁶ So Jesus came again into Cana of Galilee, where he made the water wine. And there was a certain nobleman, whose son was sick at Capernaum.

²⁴ When the people therefore saw that Jesus was not there, neither his disciples, they also took boats, and came to Capernaum, seeking for Jesus. ²⁵ And when they had found him on the other side of the sea, they said to him, Rabbi, when camest thou hither?

²⁵ For he commandeth, and raiseth the stormy wind, which lifteth up its waves.

⁷ He causeth the vapors to ascend from the ends of the earth; he maketh lightnings for the rain; he bringeth the wind out of his treasuries.

²⁴ But the boat was now in the midst of the sea, tossed with waves: for the wind was contrary.

⁸ Who alone spreadeth out the heavens, and treadeth upon the waves of the sea.

¹⁰ The LORD sitteth upon the flood; yes, the LORD sitteth king for ever.

⁴ The LORD on high is mightier than the noise of many waters, yes, than the mighty waves of the sea.

²⁶ Thy rowers have brought thee into great waters: the east wind hath broken thee in the midst of the seas.

¹³ Nevertheless the men rowed hard to bring it to the land; but they could not: for the sea wrought, and was tempestuous against them.

²⁵ And in the fourth watch of the night Jesus went to them, walking on the sea. ²⁶ And when the disciples saw him walking on the sea, they were troubled, saying, It is a spirit; and they cried out for fear.

⁴⁷ And when evening was come, the boat was in the midst of the sea, and he alone on the land. ⁴⁸ And he saw them toiling in rowing; for the wind was contrary to them: and about the fourth watch of the night he cometh to them, walking upon the sea, and would have passed by them. ⁴⁹ But when they saw him walking upon the sea, they supposed it had been a spirit, and cried out.

¹³ And behold, two of them went that same day to a village called Emmaus, which was from Jerusalem about sixty furlongs.

³⁶ And as they were thus speaking, Jesus himself stood in the midst of them, and saith to them, Peace be to you. ³⁷ But they were terrified and affrighted, and supposed that they had seen a spirit. ³⁸ And he said to them, Why are ye troubled? and why do thoughts arise in your hearts? ³⁹ Behold my hands and my feet, that it is I myself: handle me, and see; for a spirit hath not flesh and bones, as ye see me have.

¹⁸ (Now Bethany was nigh to Jerusalem, about fifteen furlongs distant.)

¹⁸ I will not leave you comfortless; I will come to you.

²⁰ And the wine-press was trodden without the city, and blood came out of the wine-press, even to the horses' bridles, by the space of a thousand and six hundred furlongs.

¹⁶ And the city lieth foursquare, and the length is as large as the breadth: and he measured the city with the reed, twelve thousand furlongs. The length and the breadth and the hight of it are equal.

³ Draw out also the spear, and stop the way against them that persecute me: say to my soul, I am thy salvation.

¹⁰ Fear thou not; for I am with thee: be not dismayed; for I am thy God: I will strengthen thee; yes, I will help thee; yes, I will uphold thee with the right hand of my righteousness.

¹⁴ Fear not, thou worm Jacob, and ye men of Israel; I will help thee, saith the LORD, and thy Redeemer, the Holy One of Israel.

¹ But now thus saith the LORD that created thee, O Jacob, and he that formed thee, O Israel, Fear not: for I have redeemed thee, I have called thee by thy name; thou art mine. ² When thou passest through the waters, I will be with thee; and through the rivers, they shall not overflow thee: when thou walkest through the fire, thou shalt not be burned; neither shall the flame kindle upon thee.

⁸ Fear ye not, neither be afraid: have not I told thee from that time, and have declared it? ye are even my witnesses. Is there a God besides me? verily there is no God; I know not any.

²⁷ But immediately Jesus spoke to them, saying, Be of good cheer; it is I; be not afraid. ²⁸ And Peter answered him and said, Lord, if it is thou, bid me come to thee on the water. ²⁹ And he said, Come. ⁶ And he saith to them, Be not frightened: ye seek Jesus of Nazareth, who was crucified: he is risen; he is not here: behold the place where they laid him:

¹⁷ And when I saw him, I fell at his feet as dead. And he laid his right hand upon me, saying to me, Fear not; I am the first and the last: ¹⁸ I am he that liveth, and was dead; and behold, I am alive for evermore, Amen; and have the keys of hell and of death.

⁷ Lift up your heads, O ye gates; and be ye lifted up, ye everlasting doors; and the King of glory shall come in. ⁸ Who is this King of glory? the LORD strong and mighty, the LORD mighty in battle. ⁹ Lift up your heads, O ye gates; even lift them up, ye everlasting doors; and the King of glory shall come in. ¹⁰ Who is this King of glory? the LORD of hosts, he is the King of glory. ⁴ It was but a little that I passed from them, but I found him whom my soul loveth: I held him, and would not let him go, until I had brought him into my mother's house, and into the chamber of her that conceived me.

⁵¹ And he went up to them into the boat; and the wind ceased: and they were greatly amazed in themselves beyond measure, and wondered.

²⁰ Behold, I stand at the door, and knock: If any man shall hear my voice, and open the door, I will come in to him, and will sup with him, and he with me.

²² And immediately Jesus constrained his disciples to get into a boat, and to go before him to the other side, while he sent the multitudes away.

² And a great multitude followed him, because they saw his miracles which he performed on them that were diseased.

¹ After these things Jesus went over the sea of Galilee, which is the sea of Tiberias.

¹¹ And Jesus took the loaves; and when he had given thanks, he distributed to the disciples, and the disciples to them that were set down; and likewise of the fishes, as much as they would. ¹² When they were satisfied, he said to his disciples, Gather the fragments that remain, that nothing may be lost.

³⁴ And when they had gone over, they came into the land of Gennesaret.

³⁷ And when they had found him, they said to him, All men seek for thee.

⁵³ And when they had passed over, they came into the land of Gennesaret, and drew to the shore.

⁴⁰ And it came to pass, that, when Jesus had returned, the people gladly received him: for they were all waiting for him.

¹⁷ And entered into a boat, and went over the sea towards Capernaum. And it was now dark, and Jesus had not come to them.

⁵⁹ These things he said in the synagogue, as he taught in Capernaum.

¹¹ Then the Jews sought him at the feast, and said, Where is he?

⁴ Jesus therefore, knowing all things that were coming upon him, went forth, and said to them, Whom seek ye? ⁵ They answered him, Jesus of Nazareth. Jesus saith to them, I am he. And Judas also, who betrayed him, stood with them.

¹⁵ Jesus saith to her, Woman, why weepest thou? whom seekest thou? She, supposing him to be the gardener, saith to him, Sir, if thou hast borne him hence, tell me where thou hast laid him, and I will take him away.

⁷ And greetings in the markets, and to be called by men, Rabbi, Rabbi.

³⁸ Then Jesus turned, and saw them following, and saith to them, What seek ye? They said to him, Rabbi (which is to say, being interpreted, Master) where dwellest thou? ³⁹ He saith to them, Come and see. They came and saw where he dwelt, and abode with him that day: for it was about the tenth hour.

³⁷ For their heart was not right with him, neither were they steadfast in his covenant.

¹² Then they believed his words; they sang his praise. ¹³ They soon forgot his works; they waited not for his counsel: ¹⁴ But lusted exceedingly in the wilderness, and tempted God in the desert.

³¹ And they come to thee as the people come, and they sit before thee as my people, and they hear thy words, but they will not do them: for with their mouth they show much love, but their heart goeth after their covetousness.

³ Jesus answered and said to him, Verily, verily, I say to thee, Except a man be born again, he cannot see the kingdom of God.

⁵ Jesus answered, Verily, verily, I say to thee, Except a man be born of water, and of the Spirit, he cannot enter into the kingdom of God.

²⁴ When the people therefore saw that Jesus was not there, neither his disciples, they also took boats, and came to Capernaum, seeking for Jesus.

³⁰ They said therefore to him, What sign showest thou then, that we may see, and believe thee? what dost thou work?

⁴⁷ Verily, verily, I say to you, He that believeth on me hath everlasting life.

⁵³ Then Jesus said to them, Verily, verily, I say to you, Except ye eat the flesh of the Son of man, and drink his blood, ye have no life in you.

⁶⁴ But there are some of you that believe not. For Jesus knew from the beginning who they were that believed not, and who he was that would betray him.

¹⁸ And when Simon saw that through laying on of the apostles' hands the Holy Spirit was given, he offered them money, ¹⁹ Saying, Give me also this power, that on whomsoever I lay hands, he may receive the Holy Spirit. ²⁰ But Peter said to him, Thy money perish with thee, because thou hast thought that the gift of God may be purchased with money. ²¹ Thou hast neither part nor lot in this matter: for thy heart is not right in the sight of God.

¹⁸ For they that are such serve not our Lord Jesus Christ, but their own belly; and by good words and fair speeches deceive the hearts of the simple.

²¹ For all seek their own, not the things of Jesus Christ.

¹⁹ Whose end is destruction, whose God is their belly, and whose glory is in their shame, who mind earthly things.)

⁵ Perverse disputings of men of corrupt minds, and destitute of the truth, supposing gain to be godliness: from such withdraw thyself.

³ Ye ask, and receive not, because ye ask amiss, that ye may consume it upon your lusts. ⁴ Ye adulterers and adulteresses, know ye not that the friendship of the world is enmity with God? whoever therefore will be a friend of the world is the enemy of God.

⁷ I will declare the decree: the LORD hath said to me, Thou art my Son; this day have I begotten thee.

⁷ (40:6)Sacrifice and offering thou didst not desire; my ears hast thou opened: burnt-offering and sin-offering hast thou not required.

² So that thou incline thy ear to wisdom, and apply thy heart to understanding; ³ Yes, if thou criest after knowledge, and liftest up thy voice for understanding; ⁴ If thou seekest her as silver, and searchest for her as for hid treasures; ⁵ Then shalt thou understand the fear of the LORD, and find the knowledge of God. ⁶ For the LORD giveth wisdom: out of his mouth cometh knowledge and understanding.

¹¹ (5:12)The sleep of a laboring man is sweet, whether he eateth little or much: but the abundance of the rich will not suffer him to sleep. ¹² (5:13)There is a grievous evil which I have seen under the sun, namely, riches kept for the owners of them to their hurt. ¹³ (5:14)But those riches perish by evil labor: and he begetteth a son, and there is nothing in his hand. ¹⁴ (5:15)As he came into the world, naked shall he return to go as he came, and shall take nothing of his labor, which he may carry away in his hand. ¹⁵ (5:16)And this also is a grievous evil, that in all points as he came, so shall he go: and what profit hath he that hath labored for the wind? ¹⁶ (5:17)All his days also he eateth in darkness, and he hath much sorrow and wrath with his sickness.

⁷ All the labor of man is for his mouth, and yet the appetite is not filled.

¹ And there shall come forth a rod out of the stem of Jesse, and a branch shall grow out of his roots: ² And the spirit of the LORD will rest upon him, the spirit of wisdom and understanding, the spirit of counsel and might, the spirit of knowledge and of the fear of the LORD; ³ And will make him of quick understanding in the fear of the LORD: and he will not judge after the sight of his eyes, neither reprove after the hearing of his ears:

¹ Behold my servant, whom I uphold; my elect, in whom my soul delighteth; I have put my spirit upon him: he shall bring forth judgment to the Gentiles.

² Why do ye spend money for that which is not bread? and your labor for that which satisfieth not? hearken diligently to me, and eat ye that which is good, and let your soul delight itself in fatness.

¹ The Spirit of the Lord GOD is upon me; because the LORD hath anointed me to publish good tidings to the meek; he hath sent me to bind up the broken-hearted, to proclaim liberty to the captives, and the opening of the prison to them that are bound; ² To proclaim the acceptable year of the LORD, and the day of vengeance of our God; to comfort all that mourn; ³ To appoint to them that mourn in Zion, to give to them beauty for ashes, the oil of joy for mourning, the garment of praise for the spirit of heaviness; that they may be called trees of righteousness, the planting of the LORD, that he may be glorified.

¹⁶ Thy words were found, and I did eat them; and thy word was to me the joy and rejoicing of my heart: for I am called by thy name, O LORD God of hosts.

¹³ Behold, is it not from the LORD of hosts that the people shall labor in the very fire, and the people shall weary themselves for very vanity?

¹⁷ And lo, a voice from heaven, saying, This is my beloved Son, in whom I am well pleased.

¹⁹ Lay not up for yourselves treasures upon earth, where moth and rust doth corrupt, and where thieves break through and steal:

³¹ Therefore be not anxious, saying, What shall we eat? or what shall we drink? or, with what shall we be clothed? ³² (For after all these things do the Gentiles seek) for your heavenly Father knoweth that ye have need of all these things. ³³ But seek ye first the kingdom of God, and his righteousness, and all these things shall be added to you.

²⁰ And Jesus saith to him, The foxes have holes, and the birds of the air have nests; but the Son of man hath not where to lay his head.

⁵ While he was yet speaking, behold, a bright cloud overshadowed them: and behold, a voice out of the cloud, which said, This is my beloved Son, in whom I am well pleased: hear ye him.

¹¹ And there came a voice from heaven, saying, Thou art my beloved Son, in whom I am well pleased.

⁷ And there was a cloud that overshadowed them: and a voice came out of the cloud, saying, This is my beloved Son: hear him.

²² And the Holy Spirit descended in a bodily shape like a dove upon him, and a voice came from heaven, which said, Thou art my beloved Son; in thee I am well pleased.

¹⁸ The spirit of the Lord is upon me, because he hath anointed me to preach the gospel to the poor; he hath sent me to heal the broken-hearted, to preach deliverance to the captives, and recovering of sight to the blind, to set at liberty them that are bruised, ¹⁹ To preach the acceptable year of the Lord. ²⁰ And he closed the book, and he gave it again to the minister, and sat down. And the eyes of all them that were in the synagogue were fastened on him. ²¹ And he began to say to them, This day is this scripture fulfilled in your ears.

³⁵ And there came a voice out of the cloud, saying, This is my beloved Son: hear him.

⁴⁰ But Martha was cumbered about much serving, and came to him, and said, Lord, dost thou not care that my sister hath left me to serve alone? bid her therefore that she help me. ⁴¹ And Jesus answered, and said to her, Martha, Martha, thou art anxious, and troubled about many things: ⁴² But one thing is needful; and Mary hath chosen that good part, which shall not be taken away from her.

³³ And I knew him not: but he that sent me to baptize with water, the same said to me, Upon whom thou shalt see the Spirit descending and remaining on him, the same is he who baptizeth with the Holy Spirit. ³⁴ And I saw and bore testimony, that this is the Son of God.

³³ He that hath received his testimony, hath set to his seal that God is true.

¹³ Jesus answered and said to her, Whoever drinketh of this water, shall thirst again: ¹⁴ But whoever drinketh of the water that I shall give him, shall never thirst; but the water that I shall give him, shall be in him a well of water springing up into everlasting life.

³⁶ But I have greater testimony than that of John: for the works which the Father hath given me to finish, the same works that I do, bear testimony concerning me, that the Father hath sent me. ³⁷ And the Father himself who hath sent me, hath borne testimony concerning me. Ye have neither heard his voice at any time, nor seen his shape.

²⁸ Then said they to him, What shall we do, that we may work the works of God? ²⁹ Jesus answered and said to them, This is the work of God, that ye believe on him whom he hath sent.

⁴⁰ And this is the will of him that sent me, that every one who seeth the Son, and believeth on him, may have everlasting life: and I will raise him up at the last day.

⁵¹ I am the living bread which came down from heaven: if any man shall eat of this bread, he shall live for ever: and the bread that I will give is my flesh, which I will give for the life of the world.

⁵⁴ Whoever eateth my flesh, and drinketh my blood, hath eternal life; and I will raise him up at the last day.

⁵⁸ This is that bread which came down from heaven: not as your fathers ate manna, and are dead: he that eateth of this bread shall live for ever.

⁶⁸ Then Simon Peter answered him, Lord, to whom shall we go? thou hast the words of eternal life.

¹⁸ I am one that testifieth concerning myself; and the Father that sent me, testifieth concerning me.

²⁸ And I give to them eternal life; and they shall never perish, neither shall any pluck them out of my hand.

³⁷ If I do not the works of my Father, believe me not. ³⁸ But if I do, though ye believe not me, believe the works: that ye may know and believe that the Father is in me, and I in him.

²⁵ Jesus said to her, I am the resurrection, and the life: he that believeth in me, though he were dead, yet shall he live: ²⁶ And whoever liveth, and believeth in me, shall never die. Believest thou this?

⁴² And I knew that thou hearest me always: but because of the people who stand by, I said it, that they may believe that thou hast sent me.

⁶ Jesus saith to him, I am the way, and the truth, and the life: no man cometh to the Father, but by me.

²⁴ If I had not done among them the works which no other man hath done, they had not had sin: but now have they both seen, and hated both me and my Father.

² As thou hast given him power over all flesh, that he should give eternal life to as many as thou hast given him.

²² Ye men of Israel, hear these words; Jesus of Nazareth, a man approved by God among you by miracles and wonders and signs, which God did by him in the midst of you, as ye yourselves also know:

³⁸ That God anointed Jesus of Nazareth with the Holy Spirit and with power: who went about doing good, and healing all that were oppressed by the devil; for God was with him.

¹¹ And he received the sign of circumcision, a seal of the righteousness of the faith, which he had yet being uncircumcised: that he might be the father of all them that believe, though they are not circumcised, that righteousness might be imputed to them also;

²³ For the wages of sin is death: but the gift of God is eternal life, through Jesus Christ our Lord.

¹³ Meats for the belly, and the belly for meats: but God will destroy both it and them. Now the body is not for lewdness, but for the Lord; and the Lord for the body.

²⁹ But this I say, brethren, The time is short. It remaineth, that both they that have wives, be as though they had none; ³⁰ And they that weep, as though they wept not; and they that rejoice, as though they rejoiced not; and they that buy, as though they possessed not; ³¹ And they that use this world, as not abusing it. For the fashion of this world passeth away.

² If I am not an apostle to others, yet doubtless I am to you: for ye are the seal of my apostleship in the Lord.

²⁴ Know ye not, that they who run in a race, all run, but one receiveth the prize? So run, that ye may obtain. ²⁵ And every man that striveth for the mastery is temperate in all things. Now they do it to obtain a corruptible crown; but we an incorruptible. ²⁶ I therefore so run, not as uncertainly; so I fight, not as one that beateth the air: ²⁷ But I keep under my body, and bring it into subjection: lest by any means when I have preached to others, I myself should be a cast-away.

¹⁸ While we look not at the things which are seen, but at the things which are not seen: for the things which are seen are temporal; but the things which are not seen are eternal.

⁶ For in Jesus Christ neither circumcision availeth any thing, nor uncircumcision; but faith which worketh by love.

¹³ For it is God who worketh in you both to will and to do of his good pleasure.

²⁹ For which I also labor, striving according to his working, which worketh in me mightily.

²² Which all are to perish with the using;) according to the commandments and doctrines of men?

² Set your affection on things above, not on things on the earth.

³ Remembering without ceasing your work of faith, and labor of love, and patience of hope in our Lord Jesus Christ, in the sight of God and our Father;

¹⁹ Nevertheless the foundation of God standeth firm, having this seal, The Lord knoweth them that are his. And, Let every one that nameth the name of Christ depart from iniquity.

¹¹ Let us labor therefore to enter into that rest, lest any man fall after the same example of unbelief.

¹⁶ Lest there be any fornicator, or profane person, as Esau, who for one morsel of food sold his birth-right.

¹¹ For the sun hath no sooner risen with a burning heat, but it withereth the grass, and its flower falleth, and the grace of the fashion of it perisheth: so also shall the rich man fade away in his ways.

²⁴ For all flesh is as grass, and all the glory of man as the flower of grass. The grass withereth, and its flower falleth away:

¹⁷ For he received from God the Father honor and glory, when there came such a voice to him from the excellent glory, This is my beloved Son, in whom I am well pleased.

¹¹ Seeing then that all these things will be dissolved, what manner of persons ought ye to be in all holy deportment and godliness, ¹² Looking for and hasting to the coming of the day of God, in which the heavens being on fire will be dissolved, and the elements will melt with fervent heat? ¹³ Nevertheless we, according to his promise, look for new heavens and a new earth, in which dwelleth righteousness. ¹⁴ Wherefore, beloved, seeing that ye look for such things, be diligent that ye may be found by him in peace, without spot, and blameless.

²⁷ Go thou near, and hear all that the LORD our God shall say; and speak thou to us all that the LORD our God shall speak to thee; and we will hear it, and do it.

³ That the LORD thy God may show us the way in which we may walk, and the thing that we may do. ⁴ Then Jeremiah the prophet said to them, I have heard you; behold, I will pray to the LORD your God according to your words; and it shall come to pass, that whatever thing the LORD shall answer you, I will declare it to you; I will keep nothing back from you. ⁵ Then they said to Jeremiah, The LORD be a true and faithful witness between us, if we do not even according to all things for which the LORD thy God shall send thee to us. ⁶ Whether it be good, or whether it be evil, we will obey the voice of the LORD our God, to whom we send thee; that it may be well with us, when we obey the voice of the LORD our God.

²⁰ For ye dissembled in your hearts, when ye sent me to the LORD your God, saying, Pray for us to the LORD our God; and according to all that the LORD our God shall say, so declare to us, and we will do it.

⁷ Will the LORD be pleased with thousands of rams, or with ten thousands of rivers of oil? shall I give my first-born for my transgression, the fruit of my body for the sin of my soul? ⁸ He hath shown thee, O man, what is good; and what the LORD doth require of thee, but to do justly, and to love mercy, and to walk humbly with thy God?

¹⁶ And behold, one came and said to him, Good Master, what good thing shall I do that I may have eternal life?

²⁵ And behold, a certain lawyer stood up, and tempted him, saying, Master, what shall I do to inherit eternal life?

³⁷ Now when they heard this, they were pricked in their heart, and said to Peter and to the rest of the apostles, Men, brethren, what shall we do?

⁶ And he trembling and astonished said, Lord, what wilt thou have me to do? And the Lord said to him, Arise, and go into the city, and it shall be told thee what thou must do.

³⁰ And brought them out, and said, Sirs, what must I do to be saved?

¹⁸ I will raise up to them a prophet from among their brethren, like thee, and will put my words in his mouth; and he shall speak to them all that I shall command him. ¹⁹ And it shall come to pass, that whoever will not hearken to my words which he shall speak in my name, I will require it of him.

¹² Kiss the Son, lest he be angry, and ye perish from the way, when his wrath is kindled but a little. Blessed are all they that put their trust in him.

¹⁶ He that believeth and is baptized, shall be saved; but he that believeth not shall be damned.

¹⁶ For God so loved the world, that he gave his only-begotten Son, that whoever believeth in him, should not perish, but have everlasting life. ¹⁷ For God sent not his Son into the world to condemn the world, but that the world through him may be saved. ¹⁸ He that believeth on him, is not condemned: but he that believeth not, is condemned already, because he hath not believed in the name of the only-begotten Son of God.

³⁶ He that believeth on the Son, hath everlasting life: and he that believeth not the Son, shall not see life; but the wrath of God abideth on him.

³⁹ Search the scriptures; for in them ye think ye have eternal life: and they are they which testify of me.

³¹ And they said, Believe on the Lord Jesus Christ, and thou shalt be saved, and thy house.

¹⁴ And he said, The God of our fathers hath chosen thee, that thou shouldst know his will, and see that Just One, and shouldst hear the voice of his mouth. ¹⁵ For thou shalt be his witness to all men of what thou hast seen and heard. ¹⁶ And now why tarriest thou? arise, and be baptized, and wash away thy sins, calling on the name of the Lord.

⁴ Now to him that worketh, is the reward not reckoned of grace, but of debt. ⁵ But to him that worketh not, but believeth on him that justifieth the ungodly, his faith is counted for righteousness.

³⁰ What shall we say then? That the Gentiles who followed not after righteousness, have attained to righteousness, even the righteousness which is by faith: ³¹ But Israel, who followed after the law of righteousness, hath not attained to the law of righteousness.

³ For they, being ignorant of God's righteousness, and seeking to establish their own righteousness, have not submitted themselves to the righteousness of God. ⁴ For Christ is the end of the law for righteousness to every one that believeth.

⁹ And being made perfect, he became the author of eternal salvation to all them that obey him;

²³ And this is his commandment; That we should believe on the name of his Son Jesus Christ, and love one another, as he gave us commandment.

¹ Whoever believeth that Jesus is the Christ, is born of God: and every one that loveth him that begat, loveth him also that is begotten by him.

⁸ And it shall come to pass, if they will not believe thee, neither hearken to the voice of the first sign, that they will believe the voice of the latter sign.

³ And he gave a sign the same day, saying, This is the sign which the LORD hath spoken; Behold, the altar shall be rent, and the ashes that are upon it shall be poured out.

⁵ The altar also was rent, and the ashes poured out from the altar, according to the sign which the man of God had given by the word of the LORD.

¹⁹ That say, Let him make speed, and hasten his work, that we may see it: and let the counsel of the Holy One of Israel draw nigh and come, that we may know it!

¹¹ Ask thee a sign from the LORD thy God; ask it either in the depth, or in the hight above. ¹² But Ahaz said, I will not ask, neither will I tempt the LORD. ¹³ And he said, Hear ye now, O house of David? Is it a small thing for you to weary men, but will ye weary my God also? ¹⁴ Therefore the Lord himself will give you a sign; Behold, a virgin shall conceive, and bear a son, and shall call his name Immanuel.

³⁸ Then certain of the scribes and of the Pharisees answered, saying, Master, we would see a sign from thee. ³⁹ But he answered and said to them, An evil and adulterous generation seeketh for a sign, and there shall no sign be given to it, but the sign of the prophet Jonah.

¹ The Pharisees also and the Sadducees came, and, tempting, desired him that he would show them a sign from heaven. ² He answered and said to them, When it is evening, ye say, It will be fair weather: for the sky is red. ³ And in the morning, It will be foul weather to-day: for the sky is red and lowering. O ye hypocrites, ye can discern the face of the sky; but can ye not discern the signs of the times? ⁴ A wicked and adulterous generation seeketh for a sign; and there shall no sign been to it, but the sign of the prophet Jonah. And he left them, and departed.

¹¹ And the Pharisees came forth, and began to question with him, seeking from him a sign from heaven, tempting him.

³² Let Christ the king of Israel descend now from the cross, that we may see and believe. And they that were crucified with him, reviled him.

²⁹ And when the people were assembled in crowds, he began to say, This is an evil generation: they seek a sign; and there shall no sign be given to it, but the sign of Jonah the prophet. ³⁰ For as Jonah was a sign to the Ninevites, so also shall the Son of man be to this generation.

¹⁸ Then answered the Jews, and said to him, What sign showest thou to us, seeing that thou doest these things?

⁸ (For his disciples had gone to the city to buy provisions.)

³⁶ But I said to you, That ye also have seen me, and believe not.

³⁸ But if I do, though ye believe not me, believe the works: that ye may know and believe that the Father is in me, and I in him.

³⁷ But though he had done so many miracles before them, yet they believed not on him:

²⁵ The other disciples therefore said to him, We have seen the Lord. But he said to them, Except I shall see in his hands the print of the nails, and put my finger into the print of the nails, and thrust my hand into his side, I will not believe. ²⁶ And after eight days again his disciples were within, and Thomas with them: then came Jesus, the doors being shut, and stood in the midst, and said, Peace be to you. ²⁷ Then saith he to Thomas, Reach hither thy finger, and behold my hands; and reach hither thy hand, and thrust it into my side; and be not faithless, but believing. ²⁸ And Thomas answered and said to him, My Lord and my God. ²⁹ Jesus saith to him, Thomas, because thou hast seen me, thou hast believed: blessed are they that have not seen, and yet have believed.

³⁰ By stretching forth thy hand to heal; and that signs and wonders may be done by the name of thy holy child Jesus.

²² For the Jews require a sign, and the Greeks seek wisdom:

⁴ God also bearing them testimony, both with signs and wonders, and with divers miracles, and gifts of the Holy Spirit, according to his own will?

⁴ Then said the LORD to Moses, Behold, I will rain bread from heaven for you; and the people shall go out and gather a certain rate every day, that I may prove them, whether they will walk in my law, or not. ⁵ And it shall come to pass, that on the sixth day they shall prepare that which they bring in; and it shall be twice as much as they gather daily. ⁶ And Moses and Aaron said to all the children of Israel, At evening, then ye shall know that the LORD hath brought you out from the land of Egypt: ⁷ And in the morning, then ye shall see the glory of the LORD; for that he heareth your murmurings against the LORD: And what are we, that ye murmur against us? ⁸ And Moses said, This shall be when the LORD shall give you in the evening flesh to eat, and in the morning bread to the full; for that the LORD heareth your murmurings which ye murmur against him: And what are we? your murmurings are not against us, but against the LORD. ⁹ And Moses spoke to Aaron, Say to all the congregation of the children of Israel, Come near before the LORD: for he hath heard your murmurings. ¹⁰ And it came to pass, as Aaron spoke to the whole congregation of the children of Israel, that they looked towards the wilderness, and behold, the glory of the LORD appeared in the cloud. ¹¹ And the LORD spoke to Moses, saying, ¹² I have heard the murmurings of the children of Israel; Speak to them, saying, At evening ye shall eat flesh, and in the morning ye shall be filled with bread: and ye shall know that I am the LORD your God. ¹³ And it came to pass, that at evening the quails came up, and covered the camp: and in the morning the dew lay around the host. ¹⁴ And when the dew that lay was gone up, behold, upon the face of the wilderness there lay a small round thing, as small as the hoar frost on the ground: ¹⁵ And when the children of Israel saw it, they said one to another, It is manna: for they knew not what it was. And Moses said to them, This is the bread which the LORD hath given you to eat.

³⁵ And the children of Israel ate manna forty years, until they came to a land inhabited: they ate manna, until they came to the borders of the land of Canaan.

⁶ But now our soul is dried away; there is nothing at all, besides this manna, before our eyes. ⁷ And the manna was as coriander-seed, and the color of it as the color of bdellium. ⁸ And the people went about, and gathered it and ground it in mills, or beat it in a mortar, and baked it in pans, and made cakes of it: and the taste of it was as the taste of fresh oil. ⁹ And when the dew fell upon the camp in the night, the manna fell upon it.

³ And he humbled thee, and suffered thee to hunger, and fed thee with manna, which thou knewest not, neither did thy fathers know; that he might make thee know that man doth not live by bread only, but by every word that proceedeth out of the mouth of the LORD doth man live.

¹⁵ And gavest them bread from heaven for their hunger, and broughtest forth water for them out of the rock for their thirst, and promisedst them that they should go in to possess the land which thou hadst sworn to give them.

²⁰ Thou gavest also thy good spirit to instruct them, and withheldest not thy manna from their mouth, and gavest them water for their thirst.

²⁴ And had rained down manna upon them to eat, and had given them of the corn of heaven. ²⁵ Man ate angels' food: he sent them food to the full.

⁴⁰ The people asked, and he brought quails, and satisfied them with the bread of heaven.

⁴⁹ Your fathers ate manna in the wilderness, and are dead.

³ And all ate the same spiritual food;

¹⁷ He that hath an ear, let him hear what the Spirit saith to the churches; To him that overcometh will I give to eat of the hidden manna, and will give him a white stone, and on the stone a new name written, which no man knoweth, he excepted, that receiveth it.

⁴ Then said the LORD to Moses, Behold, I will rain bread from heaven for you; and the people shall go out and gather a certain rate every day, that I may prove them, whether they will walk in my law, or not.

⁸ And Moses said, This shall be when the LORD shall give you in the evening flesh to eat, and in the morning bread to the full; for that the LORD heareth your murmurings which ye murmur against him: And what are we? your murmurings are not against us, but against the LORD.

²³ Though he had commanded the clouds from above, and opened the doors of heaven,

⁹ That was the true Light, which lighteth every man that cometh into the world.

³³ For the bread of God is he who cometh down from heaven, and giveth life to the world.

³⁵ And Jesus said to them, I am the bread of life: he that cometh to me, shall never hunger; and he that believeth on me, shall never thirst.

⁴¹ The Jews then murmured at him, because he said, I am the bread which came down from heaven.

⁵⁰ This is the bread which cometh down from heaven, that a man may eat of it, and not die.

⁵⁵ For my flesh is food indeed, and my blood is drink indeed.

¹ I am the true vine, and my Father is the husbandman.

⁴ But when the fullness of the time was come, God sent forth his Son, born of a woman, born under the law,

²⁰ And we know that the Son of God hath come, and hath given us an understanding, that we may know him that is true, and we are in him that is true, even in his Son Jesus Christ. This is the true God, and eternal life.

¹³ And no man hath ascended to heaven, but he that came down from heaven, even the Son of man who is in heaven.

³⁸ For I came down from heaven, not to do my own will, but the will of him that sent me.

⁴⁸ I am that bread of life.

⁴² Jesus said to them, If God were your Father, ye would love me: for I proceeded forth and came from God; neither came I of myself, but he sent me.

³ Jesus knowing that the Father had given all things into his hands, and that he had come from God, and was going to God;

²⁸ I came forth from the Father, and am come into the world: again, I leave the world, and go to the Father.

⁸ For I have given to them the words which thou gavest me; and they have received them, and have known surely that I came from thee, and they have believed that thou didst send me.

¹⁵ This is a faithful saying, and worthy of all acceptation, that Christ Jesus came into the world to save sinners; of whom I am chief.

¹ That which was from the beginning, which we have heard, which we have seen with our eyes, which we have looked upon, and our hands have handled, of the word of life; ² (For the life was manifested, and we have seen it, and testify, and show to you that eternal life which was with the Father, and was manifested to us;)

⁶ (4:5)Offer the sacrifices of righteousness, and put your trust in the LORD.

¹⁵ The woman saith to him, Sir, give me this water, that I may not thirst, neither come hither to draw.

²⁶ Jesus answered them and said, Verily, verily, I say to you, Ye seek me, not because ye saw the miracles, but because ye ate of the loaves, and were satisfied.

¹⁰ They shall not hunger nor thirst, neither shall the heat nor sun smite them: for he that hath mercy on them shall lead them, even by the springs of water shall he guide them.

¹ Ho, every one that thirsteth, come ye to the waters, and he that hath no money; come ye, buy, and eat; yes, come, buy wine and milk without money and without price. ² Why do ye spend money for that which is not bread? and your labor for that which satisfieth not? hearken diligently to me, and eat ye that which is good, and let your soul delight itself in fatness. ³ Incline your ear, and come to me: hear, and your soul shall live; and I will make an everlasting covenant with you, even the sure mercies of David.

²⁸ Come to me, all ye that labor, and are heavy laden, and I will give you rest.

²⁵ Woe to you that are full! for ye shall hunger. Woe to you that laugh now! for ye shall mourn and weep.

⁴⁰ And ye will not come to me, that ye may have life.

³⁷ All that the Father giveth me, shall come to me; and him that cometh to me, I will in no wise reject.

⁴⁴ No man can come to me, except the Father who hath sent me draw him: and I will raise him up at the last day. ⁴⁵ It is written in the prophets, And they shall be all taught from God. Every man therefore that hath heard, and hath learned from the Father, cometh to me.

⁴⁸ I am that bread of life. ⁴⁹ Your fathers ate manna in the wilderness, and are dead. ⁵⁰ This is the bread which cometh down from heaven, that a man may eat of it, and not die. ⁵¹ I am the living bread which came down from heaven: if any man shall eat of this bread, he shall live for ever: and the bread that I will give is my flesh, which I will give for the life of the world. ⁵² The Jews therefore contended among themselves, saying, How can this man give us his flesh to eat? ⁵³ Then Jesus said to them, Verily, verily, I say to you, Except ye eat the flesh of the Son of man, and drink his blood, ye have no life in you. ⁵⁴ Whoever eateth my flesh, and drinketh my blood, hath eternal life; and I will raise him up at the last day. ⁵⁵ For my flesh is food indeed, and my blood is drink indeed. ⁵⁶ He that eateth my flesh, and drinketh my blood, dwelleth in me, and I in him. ⁵⁷ As the living Father hath sent me, and I live by the Father: so he that eateth me, even he shall live by me. ⁵⁸ This is that bread which came down from heaven: not as your fathers ate manna, and are dead: he that eateth of this bread shall live for ever.

⁶⁵ And he said, Therefore I said to you, that no man can come to me, except it were given to him by my Father.

³⁷ In the last day, that great day of the feast, Jesus stood and cried, saying, If any man thirsteth, let him come to me, and drink. ³⁸ He that believeth on me, as the scripture hath said, out of his belly shall flow rivers of living water.

¹⁶ The cup of blessing which we bless, is it not the communion of the blood of Christ? The bread which we break, is it not the communion of the body of Christ? ¹⁷ For we being many are one bread, and one body: for we are all partakers of that one bread. ¹⁸ Behold Israel after the flesh: are not they who eat of the sacrifices, partakers of the altar?

²³ For I have received from the Lord, that which also I delivered to you, That the Lord Jesus, the same night in which he was betrayed, took bread: ²⁴ And when he had given thanks, he broke it, and said, Take, eat: this is my body, which is broken for you: this do in remembrance of me. ²⁵ After the same manner also he took the cup, when he had supped, saying, This cup is the new testament in my blood: this do ye, as often as ye drink it, in remembrance of me. ²⁶ For as often as ye eat this bread, and drink this cup, ye do show the Lord's death till he shall come. ²⁷ Wherefore, whoever shall eat this bread, and drink this cup of the Lord unworthily, shall be guilty of the body and blood of the Lord. ²⁸ But let a man examine himself, and so let him eat of that bread, and drink of that cup. ²⁹ For he that eateth and drinketh unworthily, eateth and drinketh condemnation to himself, not discerning the Lord's body.

¹⁶ They shall hunger no more, neither thirst any more; neither shall the sun light on them, nor any heat.

¹⁷ And the Spirit and the bride say, Come. And let him that heareth, say, Come. And let him that is thirsty, come: And whoever will, let him take the water of life freely.

³¹ And he said to him, If they hear not Moses and the prophets, neither will they be persuaded, though one shall rise from the dead.

⁸ Whom having not seen, ye love; in whom, though now ye see him not, yet believing, ye rejoice with joy unspeakable, and full of glory: ⁹ Receiving the end of your faith, even the salvation of your souls.

¹⁷ (102:16)When the LORD shall build up Zion, he will appear in his glory.

³ Thy people shall be willing in the day of thy power, in the beauties of holiness: from the womb of the morning, thou hast the dew of thy youth.

¹⁸ Come now, and let us reason together, saith the LORD: though your sins are as scarlet, they shall be white as snow, though they are red like crimson, they shall be as wool. ¹⁹ If ye are willing and obedient, ye shall eat the good of the land:

⁹ Thou whom I have taken from the ends of the earth, and called thee from the chief men thereof, and said to thee, Thou art my servant; I have chosen thee, and not cast thee away.

³ A bruised reed shall he not break, and the smoking flax shall he not quench: he shall bring forth judgment to truth.

⁷ Let the wicked forsake his way, and the unrighteous man his thoughts: and let him return to the LORD, and he will have mercy upon him; and to our God, for he will abundantly pardon.

²⁴ For false Christs will arise, and false prophets, and will show great signs and wonders; so that, if it were possible, they would deceive the very elect.

⁴⁰ But the other answering, rebuked him, saying, Dost not thou fear God, seeing thou art in the same condemnation? ⁴¹ And we indeed justly; for we receive the due reward of our deeds: but this man hath done nothing amiss. ⁴² And he said to Jesus, Lord, remember me when thou comest into thy kingdom. ⁴³ And Jesus said to him, Verily I say to thee, This day shalt thou be with me in paradise.

³⁹ And this is the Father's will who hath sent me, that of all which he hath given me, I should lose nothing, but should raise it up again at the last day.

³⁴ They answered and said to him, Thou wast altogether born in sins, and dost thou teach us? and they cast him out.

²⁸ And I give to them eternal life; and they shall never perish, neither shall any pluck them out of my hand. ²⁹ My Father, who gave them to me, is greater than all; and none is able to pluck them out of my Father's hand.

⁶ I have manifested thy name to the men whom thou gavest to me out of the world: thine they were, and thou gavest them to me; and they have kept thy word.

⁸ For I have given to them the words which thou gavest me; and they have received them, and have known surely that I came from thee, and they have believed that thou didst send me. ⁹ I pray for them: I pray not for the world, but for them whom thou hast given to me; for they are thine.

¹¹ And now I am no more in the world, but these are in the world, and I come to thee. Holy Father, keep through thy own name those whom thou hast given to me, that they may be one, as we are.

²⁴ Father, I will that they also whom thou hast given to me be with me where I am; that they may behold my glory which thou hast given to me: for thou lovedst me before the foundation of the world.

²⁰ Moreover the law entered, that the offense might abound. But where sin abounded, grace did much more abound:

⁴ But God, who is rich in mercy, for his great love with which he loved us, ⁵ Even when we were dead in sins, hath made us alive together with Christ, (by grace ye are saved;) ⁶ And hath raised us up together, and made us sit together in heavenly places, in Christ Jesus: ⁷ That in the ages to come he might show the exceeding riches of his grace in his kindness towards us, through Christ Jesus. ⁸ For by grace are ye saved, through faith; and that not of yourselves: it is the gift of God: ⁹ Not by works, lest any man should boast. ¹⁰ For we are his workmanship, created in Christ Jesus to good works, which God hath before ordained that we should walk in them.

²⁹ For to you it is given in the behalf of Christ, not only to believe on him, but also to suffer for his sake;

¹³ But we are bound to give thanks always to God for you, brethren, beloved by the Lord, because God hath from the beginning chosen you to salvation, through sanctification of the Spirit, and belief of the truth: ¹⁴ To which he called you by our gospel, to the obtaining of the glory of our Lord Jesus Christ.

¹⁶ However, for this cause I obtained mercy, that in me first Jesus Christ might show forth all long-suffering, for a pattern to them who should hereafter believe on him to life everlasting.

³ For we ourselves also were sometimes foolish, disobedient, deceived, serving divers lusts and pleasures, living in malice and envy, hateful, and hating one another. ⁴ But when the kindness and love of God our Savior towards man appeared, ⁵ Not by works of righteousness which we have done, but according to his mercy he saved us, by the washing of regeneration, and renewing of the Holy Spirit; ⁶ Which he shed on us abundantly, through Jesus Christ our Savior; ⁷ That being justified by his grace, we should be made heirs according to the hope of eternal life.

¹⁵ For we have not a high priest who cannot be touched with the feeling of our infirmities; but who was in all points tempted as we are, yet without sin.

²⁵ Wherefore he is able also to save them to the uttermost that come to God by him, seeing he ever liveth to make intercession for them.

¹⁹ They went out from us, but they were not of us; for if they had been of us, they would no doubt have continued with us: but they went out, that they might be made manifest that they were not all of us.

⁷ (40:6)Sacrifice and offering thou didst not desire; my ears hast thou opened: burnt-offering and sin-offering hast thou not required. ⁸ (40:7)Then said I, Lo, I come: in the volume of the book it is written of me,

¹⁰ Yet it pleased the LORD to bruise him; he hath put him to grief: when thou shalt make his soul an offering for sin, he shall see his seed, he shall prolong his days, and the pleasure of the LORD shall prosper in his hand.

²⁸ Even as the Son of man came not to be ministered to, but to minister, and to give his life a ransom for many.

³⁹ And he went a little further, and fell on his face, and prayed, saying, O my Father, if it is possible, let this cup pass from me: nevertheless, not as I will, but as thou wilt. ⁴⁰ And he cometh to the disciples, and findeth them asleep, and saith to Peter, What, could ye not watch with me one hour? ⁴¹ Watch and pray, that ye enter not into temptation: the spirit indeed is willing, but the flesh is weak. ⁴² He went away again the second time, and prayed, saying, O my Father, if this cup may not pass away from me, except I drink it, thy will be done.

³¹ He that cometh from above is above all: he that is of the earth is earthly, and speaketh of the earth: he that cometh from heaven is above all.

³⁴ Jesus saith to them, My food is to do the will of him that sent me, and to finish his work.

³⁰ I can of my own self do nothing: as I hear, I judge: and my judgment is just; because I seek not my own will, but the will of the Father who hath sent me.

³ For even Christ pleased not himself; but, as it is written, The reproaches of them that reproached thee fell on me.

⁹ Now that he ascended, what is it but that he also descended first into the lower parts of the earth?

⁷ But made himself of no reputation, and took upon him the form of a servant, and was made in the likeness of men: ⁸ And being found in fashion as a man, he humbled himself, and became obedient to death, even the death of the cross.

⁸ Though he was a Son, yet he learned obedience by the things which he suffered;

⁷ Then said I, Lo, I come (in the volume of the book it is written concerning me,) to do thy will, O God. ⁸ Above, when he said, Sacrifice and offering and burnt-offerings and offering for sin thou wouldst not, neither hadst pleasure in them; which are offered by the law; ⁹ Then said he, Lo, I come to do thy will, O God. He taketh away the first, that he may establish the second.

²⁹ Yet a man hath risen to pursue thee, and to seek thy soul: but the soul of my lord shall be bound in the bundle of life with the LORD thy God; and the souls of thy enemies, them shall he sling out, as from the middle of a sling.

¹⁴ Even so it is not the will of your Father who is in heaven, that one of these little ones should perish.

³² Fear not, little flock; for it is your Father's good pleasure to give you the kingdom.

²⁸ Marvel not at this: for the hour is coming, in which all that are in the graves shall hear his voice,

⁴⁴ No man can come to me, except the Father who hath sent me draw him: and I will raise him up at the last day.

²⁷ My sheep hear my voice, and I know them, and they follow me: ²⁸ And I give to them eternal life; and they shall never perish, neither shall any pluck them out of my hand. ²⁹ My Father, who gave them to me, is greater than all; and none is able to pluck them out of my Father's hand. ³⁰ I and my Father are one.

²⁴ Martha saith to him, I know that he will rise again in the resurrection at the last day.

⁴⁸ He that rejecteth me, and receiveth not my words, hath one that judgeth him: the word that I have spoken, the same shall judge him in the last day.

¹² While I was with them in the world, I kept them in thy name: those that thou gavest to me I have kept, and none of them is lost but the son of perdition; that the scripture might be fulfilled.

⁹ That the saying might be fulfilled which he spoke, Of them whom thou gavest to me, I have lost none.

¹¹ But if the Spirit of him that raised Jesus from the dead dwelleth in you, he that raised Christ from the dead will also revive your mortal bodies by his Spirit that dwelleth in you.

²⁸ And we know that all things work together for good, to them that love God, to them who are the called according to his purpose. ²⁹ For whom he did foreknow, he also did predestinate to be conformed to the image of his Son, that he might be the first-born among many brethren. ³⁰ Moreover, whom he did predestinate, them he also called: and whom he called, them he also justified: and whom he justified, them he also glorified. ³¹ What shall we then say to these things? If God is for us, who can be against us?

²⁰ For our conversation is in heaven; from whence also we look for the Savior, the Lord Jesus Christ: ²¹ Who will change our vile body, that it may be fashioned like to his glorious body, according to the working by which he is able even to subdue all things to himself.

³ For ye are dead, and your life is hid with Christ in God. ⁴ When Christ, who is our life, shall appear, then will ye also appear with him in glory.

⁵ Who are kept by the power of God through faith to salvation ready to be revealed in the last time.

¹ Jude, the servant of Jesus Christ, and brother of James, to them that are sanctified by God the Father, and preserved in Jesus Christ, and called:

²¹ Tell ye, and bring them near; yes, let them take counsel together: who hath declared this from ancient time? who hath told it from that time? have not I the LORD? and there is no God else besides me; a just God and a Savior; there is none besides me. ²² Look to me, and be ye saved, all the ends of the earth: for I am God, and there is none else.

¹⁰ The LORD hath made bare his holy arm in the eyes of all the nations: and all the ends of the earth shall see the salvation of our God.

² For he shall grow up before him as a tender plant, and as a root out of a dry ground: he hath no form nor comeliness; and when we shall see him, there is no beauty that we should desire him.

³⁰ For my eyes have seen thy salvation,

¹⁴ And the Word was made flesh, and dwelt among us, (and we beheld his glory, the glory as of the only begotten of the Father,) full of grace and truth.

¹⁵ That whoever believeth in him should not perish, but have eternal life.

¹⁴ But whoever drinketh of the water that I shall give him, shall never thirst; but the water that I shall give him, shall be in him a well of water springing up into everlasting life.

²⁴ Verily, verily, I say to you, He that heareth my word, and believeth on him that sent me, hath everlasting life, and shall not come into condemnation; but hath passed from death to life.

²⁷ Labor not for the food which perisheth, but for that food which endureth to everlasting life, which the Son of man will give to you: for him hath God the Father sealed.

³⁵ And Jesus said to them, I am the bread of life: he that cometh to me, shall never hunger; and he that believeth on me, shall never thirst. ³⁶ But I said to you, That ye also have seen me, and believe not. ³⁷ All that the Father giveth me, shall come to me; and him that cometh to me, I will in no wise reject.

⁵⁶ Your father Abraham rejoiced to see my day: and he saw it, and was glad.

²⁵ Jesus said to her, I am the resurrection, and the life: he that believeth in me, though he were dead, yet shall he live:

⁴⁵ And he that seeth me, seeth him that sent me:

⁵⁰ And I know that his commandment is life everlasting: whatever I speak therefore, even as the Father said to me, so I speak.

¹⁷ Even the Spirit of truth; whom the world cannot receive, because it seeth him not, neither knoweth him: but ye know him; for he dwelleth with you, and will be in you.

¹⁹ Yet a little while, and the world seeth me no more; but ye see me: because I live, ye shall live also.

²¹ That as sin hath reigned to death, even so might grace reign through righteousness to eternal life, by Jesus Christ our Lord.

⁶ For God, who commanded the light to shine out of darkness, hath shined into our hearts, to give the light of the knowledge of the glory of God in the face of Jesus Christ.

¹ Now faith is the substance of things hoped for, the evidence of things not seen.

²⁷ By faith he forsook Egypt, not fearing the wrath of the king: for he endured, as seeing him who is invisible.

⁸ Whom having not seen, ye love; in whom, though now ye see him not, yet believing, ye rejoice with joy unspeakable, and full of glory:

¹ That which was from the beginning, which we have heard, which we have seen with our eyes, which we have looked upon, and our hands have handled, of the word of life; ² (For the life was manifested, and we have seen it, and testify, and show to you that eternal life which was with the Father, and was manifested to us;) ³ That which we have seen and heard we declare to you, that ye also may have fellowship with us: and truly our fellowship is with the Father, and with his Son Jesus Christ.

²⁵ And this is the promise that he hath promised us, even eternal life.

¹¹ And this is the testimony, that God hath given to us eternal life: and this life is in his Son. ¹² He that hath the Son, hath life; and he that hath not the Son of God, hath not life. ¹³ These things have I written to you that believe on the name of the Son of God; that ye may know that ye have eternal life, and that ye may believe on the name of the Son of God.

²¹ Keep yourselves in the love of God, looking for the mercy of our Lord Jesus Christ to eternal life.

³⁰ But their scribes and Pharisees murmured against his disciples, saying, Why do ye eat and drink with publicans and sinners?

² And the Pharisees and scribes murmured, saying, This man receiveth sinners, and eateth with them.

⁷ And when they saw it, they all murmured, saying, That he was gone to be guest with a man that is a sinner.

⁴³ Jesus therefore answered and said to them, Murmur not among yourselves.

⁵¹ I am the living bread which came down from heaven: if any man shall eat of this bread, he shall live for ever: and the bread that I will give is my flesh, which I will give for the life of the world. ⁵² The Jews therefore contended among themselves, saying, How can this man give us his flesh to eat?

⁶⁰ Many therefore of his disciples, when they had heard this, said, This is a hard saying; who can hear it?

⁶⁶ From that time many of his disciples went back, and walked no more with him.

¹² And there was much murmuring among the people concerning him: for some said, He is a good man: others said, No; but he deceiveth the people.

¹⁰ Neither murmur ye, as some of them also murmured, and were destroyed by the destroyer.

¹⁶ These are murmurers, complainers, walking after their own lusts; and their mouth speaketh great swelling words, having men's persons in admiration because of advantage.

⁵⁵ Is not this the carpenter's son? is not his mother called Mary? and his brethren, James, and Joses, and Simon, and Judas? ⁵⁶ And his sisters, are they not all with us? Whence then hath this man all these things?

³ Is not this the carpenter, the son of Mary, the brother of James, and Joses, and of Judas, and Simon? and are not his sisters here with us? And they were offended at him.

²² And all bore him testimony, and wondered at the gracious words which proceeded out of his mouth. And they said, Is not this Joseph's son?

⁶² What if ye shall see the Son of man ascend up where he was before?

²⁷ But we know this man, whence he is: whereas when Christ cometh, no man knoweth whence he is. ²⁸ Then cried Jesus in the temple, as he taught, saying, Ye both know me, and ye know whence I am: and I am not come of myself, but he that sent me is true, whom ye know not.

³ Concerning his Son Jesus Christ our Lord, who was born of the seed of David according to the flesh. ⁴ And declared to be the Son of God, with power, according to the spirit of holiness, by the resurrection from the dead:

⁵ Whose are the fathers, and from whom according to the flesh, Christ came, who is over all, God blessed for ever. Amen.

⁴⁷ The first man is from the earth, earthy: the second man is the Lord from heaven.

⁸ Which when Jesus perceived, he said to them, O ye of little faith, why reason ye among yourselves, because ye have brought no bread?

³³ And he came to Capernaum: and being in the house, he asked them, What was it that ye disputed among yourselves by the way?

¹⁹ Now Jesus knew that they were desirous to ask him, and said to them, Do ye inquire among yourselves of that which I said, A little while, and ye shall not see me: and again, a little while, and ye shall see me?

⁴ Draw me, we will run after thee: the king hath brought me into his chambers; we will be glad and rejoice in thee, we will remember thy love more than wine: the upright love thee.

¹⁸ They have not known nor understood: for he hath shut their eyes, that they cannot see; and their hearts, that they cannot understand. ¹⁹ And none considereth in his heart, neither is there knowledge nor understanding to say, I have burned part of it in the fire; I have also baked bread upon its coals; I have roasted flesh, and eaten it: and shall I make the residue of it an abomination? shall I fall down to the stock of a tree? ²⁰ He feedeth on ashes: a deceived heart hath turned him aside, that he cannot deliver his soul, nor say, Is there not a lie in my right hand?

²³ Can the Ethiopian change his skin, or the leopard his spots? then may ye also do good, that are accustomed to do evil.

³ The LORD appeared of old to me, saying, I have loved thee with an everlasting love: therefore with loving-kindness have I drawn thee.

⁴ I drew them with cords of a man, with bands of love: and I was to them as they that take off the yoke on their jaws, and I laid food for them.

²⁵ At that time Jesus answered and said, I thank thee, O Father, Lord of heaven and earth, because thou hast hid these things from the wise and prudent, and hast revealed them to babes. ²⁶ Even so, Father, for so it seemed good in thy sight. ²⁷ All things are delivered to me by my Father; and no man knoweth the Son, but the Father; neither knoweth any man the Father, save the Son, and he to whomsoever the Son will reveal him.

³⁴ O generation of vipers, how can ye, being evil, speak good things? for out of the abundance of the heart, the mouth speaketh.

¹⁷ And Jesus answered and said to him, Blessed art thou, Simon-Barjona: for flesh and blood hath not revealed it to thee, but my Father who is in heaven.

³ Jesus answered and said to him, Verily, verily, I say to thee, Except a man be born again, he cannot see the kingdom of God. ⁴ Nicodemus saith to him, How can a man be born when he is old? can he enter the second time into his mother's womb, and be born? ⁵ Jesus answered, Verily, verily, I say to thee, Except a man be born of water, and of the Spirit, he cannot enter into the kingdom of God. ⁶ That which is born of the flesh, is flesh; and that which is born of the Spirit, is spirit. ⁷ Marvel not that I said to thee, Ye must be born again.

⁴⁴ How can ye believe, who receive honor one from another, and seek not the honor that cometh from God only?

³⁹ And this is the Father's will who hath sent me, that of all which he hath given me, I should lose nothing, but should raise it up again at the last day. ⁴⁰ And this is the will of him that sent me, that every one who seeth the Son, and believeth on him, may have everlasting life: and I will raise him up at the last day.

⁴⁵ It is written in the prophets, And they shall be all taught from God. Every man therefore that hath heard, and hath learned from the Father, cometh to me.

⁴³ Why do ye not understand my speech? even because ye cannot hear my word.

³² And I, if I shall be lifted up from the earth, will draw all men to me.

³⁷ But though he had done so many miracles before them, yet they believed not on him: ³⁸ That the saying of Isaiah the prophet might be fulfilled, which he spoke, Lord, who hath believed our report? and to whom hath the arm of the Lord been revealed? ³⁹ Therefore they could not believe, because that Isaiah said again, ⁴⁰ He hath blinded their eyes, and hardened their heart; that they should not see with their eyes, nor understand with their heart, and be converted, and I should heal them.

⁷ Because the carnal mind is enmity against God: for it is not subject to the law of God, neither indeed can be. ⁸ So then they that are in the flesh cannot please God.

¹² Buried with him in baptism, in which also ye are raised with him through the faith of the operation of God, who hath raised him from the dead.

¹³ And all thy children shall be taught from the LORD; and great shall be the peace of thy children.

³³ But this shall be the covenant that I will make with the house of Israel; After those days, saith the LORD, I will put my law in their inward parts, and write it in their hearts; and will be their God, and they shall be my people. ³⁴ And they shall teach no more every man his neighbor, and every man his brother, saying, Know the LORD: for they shall all know me, from the least of them to the greatest of them, saith the LORD: for I will forgive their iniquity, and I will remember their sin no more.

² And many nations shall come, and say, Come, and let us go up to the mountain of the LORD, and to the house of the God of Jacob; and he will teach us of his ways, and we will walk in his paths: for the law shall go forth from Zion, and the word of the LORD from Jerusalem.

²⁷ All things are delivered to me by my Father; and no man knoweth the Son, but the Father; neither knoweth any man the Father, save the Son, and he to whomsoever the Son will reveal him.

² As it is written in the prophets, Behold, I send my messenger before thy face, who shall prepare thy way before thee;

⁷⁰ As he spoke by the mouth of his holy prophets, who have been since the world began:

³¹ Then he took the twelve, and said to them, Behold, we go up to Jerusalem, and all things that are written by the prophets concerning the Son of man shall be accomplished.

³⁸ And ye have not his word abiding in you: for whom he hath sent, him ye believe not. ³⁹ Search the scriptures; for in them ye think ye have eternal life: and they are they which testify of me. ⁴⁰ And ye will not come to me, that ye may have life.

²⁷ My sheep hear my voice, and I know them, and they follow me:

¹⁴ He will glorify me: for he will receive of mine, and will show it to you. ¹⁵ All things that the Father hath are mine: therefore I said, that he will take of mine, and show it to you.

¹⁷ That the God of our Lord Jesus Christ, the Father of glory, may give to you the spirit of wisdom and revelation in the knowledge of him:

²¹ If indeed ye have heard him, and have been taught by him, as the truth is in Jesus: ²² That ye put off concerning the former manner of life the old man, which is corrupt according to the deceitful lusts:

⁹ But concerning brotherly love ye need not that I write to you: for ye yourselves are taught by God to love one another.

¹⁰ For this is the covenant that I will make with the house of Israel after those days, saith the Lord; I will put my laws into their mind, and write them in their hearts: and I will be to them a God, and they shall be to me a people: ¹¹ And they shall not teach every man his neighbor, and every man his brother, saying, Know the Lord: for all shall know me, from the least to the greatest.

¹⁶ This is the covenant that I will make with them after those days, saith the Lord, I will put my laws into their hearts, and in their minds will I write them;

¹ Beloved, believe not every spirit, but try the spirits whether they are of God: because many false prophets have gone out into the world. ² By this ye know the Spirit of God: Every spirit that confesseth that Jesus Christ hath come in the flesh, is from God: ³ And every spirit that confesseth not that Jesus Christ is come in the flesh, is not from God. And this is that spirit of antichrist, of which ye have heard that it should come; and even now already it is in the world.

²² All things are delivered to me by my Father: and no man knoweth who the Son is, but the Father; and who the Father is, but the Son, and he to whom the Son will reveal him.

¹⁸ No man hath seen God at any time; the only begotten Son, who is in the bosom of the Father, he hath declared him.

³⁷ And the Father himself who hath sent me, hath borne testimony concerning me. Ye have neither heard his voice at any time, nor seen his shape.

²⁹ But I know him; for I am from him, and he hath sent me.

¹⁹ Then said they to him, Where is thy Father? Jesus answered, Ye neither know me, nor my Father: if ye had known me, ye would have known my Father also.

⁵⁵ Yet ye have not known him; but I know him: and if I should say, I know him not, I should be a liar like you: but I know him, and keep his saying.

⁹ Jesus saith to him, Have I been so long time with you, and yet hast thou not known me Philip? he that hath seen me, hath seen the Father; and how sayest thou then, Show us the Father? ¹⁰ Believest thou not that I am in the Father, and the Father in me? the words that I speak to you, I speak not from myself: but the Father that dwelleth in me, he doeth the works.

¹⁵ Who is the image of the invisible God, the first-born of every creature:

¹⁶ Who only hath immortality, dwelling in the light which no man can approach; whom no man hath seen, nor can see: to whom be honor and power everlasting. Amen.

¹² No man hath seen God at any time. If we love one another, God dwelleth in us, and his love is perfected in us.

¹⁶ For God so loved the world, that he gave his only-begotten Son, that whoever believeth in him, should not perish, but have everlasting life.

¹⁸ He that believeth on him, is not condemned: but he that believeth not, is condemned already, because he hath not believed in the name of the only-begotten Son of God.

⁹ Much more then, being now justified by his blood, we shall be saved from wrath through him. ¹⁰ For if when we were enemies, we were reconciled to God by the death of his Son; much more, being reconciled, we shall be saved by his life.

³³ For the bread of God is he who cometh down from heaven, and giveth life to the world. ³⁴ Then said they to him, Lord, evermore give us this bread. ³⁵ And Jesus said to them, I am the bread of life: he that cometh to me, shall never hunger; and he that believeth on me, shall never thirst.

¹⁶ The cup of blessing which we bless, is it not the communion of the blood of Christ? The bread which we break, is it not the communion of the body of Christ? ¹⁷ For we being many are one bread, and one body: for we are all partakers of that one bread.

²⁴ And when he had given thanks, he broke it, and said, Take, eat: this is my body, which is broken for you: this do in remembrance of me. ²⁵ After the same manner also he took the cup, when he had supped, saying, This cup is the new testament in my blood: this do ye, as often as ye drink it, in remembrance of me.

⁶⁵ For the LORD had said of them, They shall surely die in the wilderness. And there was not left a man of them, save Caleb the son of Jephunneh, and Joshua the son of Nun.

⁵ Your fathers, where are they? and the prophets, do they live for ever?

³¹ Our fathers ate manna in the desert; as it is written, He gave them bread from heaven to eat.

³ And all ate the same spiritual food; ⁴ And all drank the same spiritual drink: (for they drank of that spiritual Rock that followed them: and that Rock was Christ.) ⁵ But with many of them God was not well pleased: for they were overthrown in the wilderness.

¹⁷ But with whom was he grieved forty years? was it not with them that had sinned, whose carcasses fell in the wilderness? ¹⁸ And to whom did he swear that they should not enter into his rest, but to them that believed not? ¹⁹ So we see that they could not enter in because of unbelief.

⁵ I will therefore put you in remembrance, though ye once knew this, that the Lord, having saved the people out of the land of Egypt, afterward destroyed them that believed not.

⁴² And they said, Is not this Jesus the son of Joseph, whose father and mother we know? how is it then that he saith, I came down from heaven?

⁵¹ Verily, verily, I say to you, If a man shall keep my saying, he shall never see death.

¹⁰ And if Christ is in you, the body is dead because of sin; but the Spirit is life because of righteousness.

¹⁹ And he took bread, and gave thanks, and broke it, and gave to them, saying, This is my body which is given for you: this do in remembrance of me.

²⁹ The next day John seeth Jesus coming to him, and saith, Behold the Lamb of God, who taketh away the sin of the world.

¹⁰ Jesus answered and said to her, If thou knewest the gift of God, and who it is that saith to thee, Give me to drink; thou wouldst have asked him, and he would have given thee living water. ¹¹ The woman saith to him, Sir, thou hast nothing to draw with, and the well is deep: from whence then hast thou that living water?

³⁸ He that believeth on me, as the scripture hath said, out of his belly shall flow rivers of living water.

¹⁹ To wit, that God was in Christ, reconciling the world to himself, not imputing their trespasses to them; and hath committed to us the word of reconciliation.

²¹ For he hath made him to be sin for us, who knew no sin; that we might be made the righteousness of God in him.

² And walk in love, as Christ also hath loved us, and hath given himself for us an offering and a sacrifice to God for a sweet-smelling savor.

²⁵ Husbands, love your wives, even as Christ also loved the church, and gave himself for it;

¹⁴ Who gave himself for us, that he might redeem us from all iniquity, and purify to himself a peculiar people, zealous of good works.

⁵ Wherefore, when he cometh into the world, he saith, Sacrifice and offering thou wouldst not, but a body hast thou prepared me: ⁶ In burnt-offerings and sacrifices for sin thou hast had no pleasure. ⁷ Then said I, Lo, I come (in the volume of the book it is written concerning me,) to do thy will, O God. ⁸ Above, when he said, Sacrifice and offering and burnt-offerings and offering for sin thou wouldst not, neither hadst pleasure in them; which are offered by the law; ⁹ Then said he, Lo, I come to do thy will, O God. He taketh away the first, that he may establish the second. ¹⁰ By which will we are sanctified through the offering of the body of Jesus Christ once for all. ¹¹ And every priest standeth daily ministering and offering often the same sacrifices, which can never take away sins: ¹² But this man, after he had offered one sacrifice for sins, for ever sat down on the right hand of God;

²⁰ By a new and living way, which he hath consecrated for us, through the vail, that is to say, his flesh;

⁴ To whom coming as to a living stone, disallowed indeed by men, but chosen by God, and precious,

² And he is the propitiation for our sins: and not for ours only, but also for the sins of the whole world.

¹⁰ In this is love, not that we loved God, but that he loved us, and sent his Son to be the propitiation for our sins.

¹⁴ And we have seen and do testify, that the Father sent the Son to be the Savior of the world.

⁴ Nicodemus saith to him, How can a man be born when he is old? can he enter the second time into his mother's womb, and be born?

⁹ Nicodemus answered and said to him, How can these things be?

¹¹ The woman saith to him, Sir, thou hast nothing to draw with, and the well is deep: from whence then hast thou that living water?

⁴⁰ Many of the people therefore, when they heard this saying, said, In truth this is the Prophet. ⁴¹ Others said, This is the Christ. But some said, Will Christ come out of Galilee? ⁴² Hath not the scripture said, That Christ cometh from the seed of David, and out of the town of Bethlehem, where David was? ⁴³ So there was a division among the people because of him.

¹⁶ Therefore said some of the Pharisees, This man is not from God, because he keepeth not the sabbath. Others said, How can a man that is a sinner do such miracles? And there was a division among them.

¹⁹ There was a division therefore again among the Jews for these sayings.

³² And when they heard of the resurrection of the dead, some mocked: and others said, We will hear thee again concerning this matter.

¹⁴ But the natural man receiveth not the things of the Spirit of God: for they are foolishness to him: neither can he know them, because they are spiritually discerned.

¹⁸ For verily I say to you, Till heaven and earth shall pass away, one jot or one tittle shall in no wise pass from the law, till all be fulfilled.

³ And said, Verily I say to you, Except ye be converted, and become as little children, ye shall not enter into the kingdom of heaven.

²⁶ And as they were eating, Jesus took bread, and blessed it, and broke it, and gave it to the disciples, and said, Take, eat; this is my body. ²⁷ And he took the cup, and gave thanks, and gave it to them, saying, Drink ye all of it; ²⁸ For this is my blood of the new testament, which is shed for many for the remission of sin.

³ I tell you, No; but except ye repent, ye shall all likewise perish.

²⁶ Jesus answered them and said, Verily, verily, I say to you, Ye seek me, not because ye saw the miracles, but because ye ate of the loaves, and were satisfied. ²⁷ Labor not for the food which perisheth, but for that food which endureth to everlasting life, which the Son of man will give to you: for him hath God the Father sealed.

⁸ Peter saith to him, Thou shalt never wash my feet. Jesus answered him, If I wash thee not, thou hast no part with me.

⁴ Abide in me, and I in you. As the branch cannot bear fruit of itself, except it abide in the vine: no more can ye, except ye abide in me.

¹² He that hath the Son, hath life; and he that hath not the Son of God, hath not life.

⁷ He that hath an ear, let him hear what the Spirit saith to the churches; To him that overcometh will I give to eat of the tree of life, which is in the midst of the paradise of God.

²⁶ (22:25)My praise shall be of thee in the great congregation: I will pay my vows before them that fear him.

⁴ Whoever is simple, let him turn in hither: as for him that wanteth understanding, she saith to him, ⁵ Come, eat of my bread, and drink of the wine which I have mingled. ⁶ Forsake the foolish, and live; and go in the way of understanding.

⁶ And on this mountain will the LORD of hosts make to all people a feast of fat things, a feast of wines on the lees, of fat things full of marrow, of wines on the lees well refined. ⁷ And he will destroy on this mountain the face of the covering cast over all people, and the vail that is spread over all nations. ⁸ He will swallow up death in victory; and the Lord GOD will wipe away tears from off all faces; and the rebuke of his people will he remove from all the earth: for the LORD hath spoken it.

⁶³ It is the spirit that reviveth; the flesh profiteth nothing: the words that I speak to you, they are spirit, and they are life.

²⁰ I am crucified with Christ: nevertheless, I live; yet not I, but Christ liveth in me: and the life which I now live in the flesh, I live by the faith of the Son of God, who loved me, and gave himself for me.

⁷ But what things were gain to me, those I counted loss for Christ. ⁸ Yes doubtless, and I count all things to be loss for the excellence of the knowledge of Christ Jesus my Lord: for whom I have suffered the loss of all things, and do count them to be dung, that I may win Christ, ⁹ And be found in him, not having my own righteousness, which is from the law, but that which is through the faith of Christ, the righteousness which is from God by faith: ¹⁰ That I may know him, and the power of his resurrection, and the fellowship of his sufferings, being made conformable to his death;

⁷ (4:6)There are many that say, Who will show us any good? LORD, lift thou upon us the light of thy countenance.

⁴⁷ Jesus saw Nathanael coming to him, and saith of him, Behold an Israelite indeed, in whom is no guile!

² A minister of the sanctuary, and of the true tabernacle, which the Lord pitched, and not man.

¹ A prayer of Moses the man of God. Lord, thou hast been our dwelling-place in all generations.

¹ He that dwelleth in the secret place of the Most High shall abide under the shadow of the Almighty.

⁹ Because thou hast made the LORD who is my refuge, even the Most High, thy habitation;

²⁴ The LORD is my portion, saith my soul; therefore will I hope in him.

²⁰ At that day ye shall know that I am in my Father, and ye in me, and I in you.

²³ Jesus answered and said to him, If a man loveth me, he will keep my words: and my Father will love him, and we will come to him, and make our abode with him.

¹⁶ And what agreement hath the temple of God with idols? for ye are the temple of the living God; as God hath said, I will dwell in them, and walk in them; and I will be their God, and they shall be my people.

¹⁷ That Christ may dwell in your hearts by faith; that ye, being rooted and grounded in love,

²⁴ And he that keepeth his commandments, dwelleth in him, and he in him. And by this we know that he abideth in us, by the Spirit which he hath given us.

¹⁵ Whoever shall confess that Jesus is the Son of God, God dwelleth in him, and he in God. ¹⁶ And we have known and believed the love that God hath to us. God is love: and he that dwelleth in love, dwelleth in God, and God in him.

⁴⁶ (18:45)The strangers shall fade away, and be afraid from their close places.

¹⁰ But the LORD is the true God, he is the living God, and an everlasting king: at his wrath the earth shall tremble, and the nations shall not be able to abide his indignation.

⁹ For they themselves show of us what manner of entrance we had to you, and how ye turned to God from idols, to serve the living and true God;

¹⁴ How much more shall the blood of Christ, who through the eternal Spirit offered himself without spot to God, cleanse your conscience from dead works to serve the living God?

⁹ In this was manifested the love of God towards us, because that God sent his only begotten Son into the world, that we might live through him.

³¹ Our fathers ate manna in the desert; as it is written, He gave them bread from heaven to eat. ³² Then Jesus said to them, Verily, verily, I say to you, Moses gave you not that bread from heaven; but my Father giveth you the true bread from heaven. ³³ For the bread of God is he who cometh down from heaven, and giveth life to the world. ³⁴ Then said they to him, Lord, evermore give us this bread.

⁴⁷ Verily, verily, I say to you, He that believeth on me hath everlasting life. ⁴⁸ I am that bread of life. ⁴⁹ Your fathers ate manna in the wilderness, and are dead. ⁵⁰ This is the bread which cometh down from heaven, that a man may eat of it, and not die. ⁵¹ I am the living bread which came down from heaven: if any man shall eat of this bread, he shall live for ever: and the bread that I will give is my flesh, which I will give for the life of the world.

⁹ (40:8)I delight to do thy will, O my God: yea, thy law is within my heart. ¹⁰ (40:9)I have preached righteousness in the great congregation: lo, I have not refrained my lips, O LORD, thou knowest.

²⁰ Wisdom crieth without; she uttereth her voice in the streets: ²¹ She crieth in the chief place of concourse, in the openings of the gates: in the city she uttereth her words, saying, ²² How long, ye simple ones, will ye love simplicity? and the scorners delight in their scorning, and fools hate knowledge? ²³ Turn you at my reproof: behold, I will pour out my spirit to you, I will make known to you my words.

¹ Doth not wisdom cry? and understanding put forth her voice? ² She standeth on the top of high places, by the way in the places of the paths. ³ She crieth at the gates, at the entry of the city, at the entrance of the doors.

³¹ And came down to Capernaum, a city of Galilee, and taught them on the sabbath-days.

²⁰ Jesus answered him, I spoke openly to the world; I ever taught in the synagogue and in the temple, whither the Jews always resort; and in secret have I said nothing.

⁶ And blessed is he to whom I shall not be the cause of his falling into sin.

⁴¹ The Jews then murmured at him, because he said, I am the bread which came down from heaven. ⁴² And they said, Is not this Jesus the son of Joseph, whose father and mother we know? how is it then that he saith, I came down from heaven?

¹¹ Of whom we have many things to say, and hard to be uttered, seeing ye are dull of hearing.

¹⁶ As also in all his epistles, speaking in them of these things; in which are some things hard to be understood, which they that are unlearned and unstable wrest, as they do also the other scriptures, to their own destruction.

¹⁷ He saith to him the third time, Simon son of Jonas, lovest thou me? Peter was grieved, because he said to him the third time, Lovest thou me? And he said to him, Lord, thou knowest all things; thou knowest that I love thee. Jesus saith to him, Feed my sheep.

²³ And I will kill her children with death; and all the churches shall know that I am he who searcheth the reins and hearts: and I will give to every one of you according to your works.

¹⁹ So then after the Lord had spoken to them, he was received up into heaven, and sat on the right hand of God.

⁵¹ And it came to pass, while he was blessing them, he was parted from them, and carried up into heaven.

⁴ I have glorified thee on the earth: I have finished the work which thou gavest me to do. ⁵ And now, O Father, glorify thou me with thy ownself, with the glory which I had with thee before the world was.

⁹ And when he had spoken these things, while they beheld, he was taken up; and a cloud received him out of their sight.

⁸ Wherefore he saith, When he ascended on high, he led captivity captive, and gave gifts to men. ⁹ Now that he ascended, what is it but that he also descended first into the lower parts of the earth? ¹⁰ He that descended is the same also that ascended far above all heavens, that he might fill all things.

²² Who is gone into heaven, and is on the right hand of God; angels, and authorities, and powers being made subject to him.

⁷ And the LORD God formed man of the dust of the ground, and breathed into his nostrils the breath of life; and man became a living soul.

⁴⁷ For it is not a vain thing for you: because it is your life; and through this thing ye shall prolong your days in the land whither ye go over Jordan to possess it.

⁷ (19:6)His going forth is from the end of the heaven, and his circuit to the ends of it: and there is nothing hid from his heat. ⁸ (19:7)The law of the LORD is perfect, converting the soul: the testimony of the LORD is sure, making wise the simple. ⁹ (19:8)The statutes of the LORD are right, rejoicing the heart: the commandment of the LORD is pure, enlightening the eyes. ¹⁰ (19:9)The fear of the LORD is clean, enduring for ever: the judgments of the LORD are true and righteous altogether.

⁵⁰ This is my comfort in my affliction: for thy word hath revived me.

⁹³ I will never forget thy precepts: for with them thou hast revived me.

¹³⁰ The entrance of thy words giveth light; it giveth understanding to the simple.

⁴⁹ For I have not spoken from myself; but the Father who sent me, he gave me a commandment, what I should say, and what I should speak. ⁵⁰ And I know that his commandment is life everlasting: whatever I speak therefore, even as the Father said to me, so I speak.

²⁵ For circumcision verily profiteth, if thou keepest the law; but if thou art a breaker of the law, thy circumcision is made uncircumcision.

¹ What advantage then hath the Jew? or what profit is there of circumcision? ² Much every way: chiefly, because that to them were committed the oracles of God.

² For the law of the Spirit of life, in Christ Jesus, hath made me free from the law of sin and death.

⁸ But what saith it? The word is nigh thee, even in thy mouth, and in thy heart: that is, the word of faith, which we preach: ⁹ That if thou shalt confess with thy mouth the Lord Jesus, and shalt believe in thy heart that God hath raised him from the dead, thou shalt be saved. ¹⁰ For with the heart man believeth to righteousness; and with the mouth confession is made to salvation.

¹⁷ So then, faith cometh by hearing, and hearing by the word of God.

⁹ But as it is written, Eye hath not seen, nor ear heard, neither have entered into the heart of man, the things which God hath prepared for them that love him. ¹⁰ But God hath revealed them to us by his Spirit; for the Spirit searcheth all things, even the deep things of God. ¹¹ For what man knoweth the things of a man, save the spirit of man which is in him? even so the things of God knoweth no man, but the Spirit of God. ¹² Now we have received, not the spirit of the world, but the spirit which is from God; that we may know the things that are freely given to us by God. ¹³ Which things also we speak, not in the words which man's wisdom teacheth, but which the Holy Spirit teacheth; comparing spiritual things with spiritual. ¹⁴ But the natural man receiveth not the things of the Spirit of God: for they are foolishness to him: neither can he know them, because they are spiritually discerned.

⁴⁵ And so it is written, The first man Adam was made a living soul, the last Adam was made a vivifying spirit.

⁶ Who also hath made us able ministers of the new testament; not of the letter, but of the spirit: for the letter killeth, but the spirit giveth life. ⁷ But if the ministration of death, written and engraven on stones, was glorious, so that the children of Israel could not steadfastly behold the face of Moses for the glory of his countenance; which glory was to be done away; ⁸ How shall not the ministration of the Spirit be rather glorious?

²⁵ If we live in the Spirit, let us also walk in the Spirit.

¹⁵ For in Christ Jesus neither circumcision availeth any thing, nor uncircumcision, but a new creature.

¹³ For this cause also we thank God without ceasing, because, when ye received the word of God which ye heard from us, ye received it not as the word of men, but (as it is in truth) the word of God, which effectually worketh also in you that believe.

⁸ For bodily exercise profiteth little: but godliness is profitable to all things, having promise of the life that now is, and of that which is to come.

¹² For the word of God is living, and powerful, and sharper than any two-edged sword, piercing even to the dividing asunder of soul and spirit, and of the joints and marrow, and is a discerner of the thoughts and intents of the heart.

⁹ Be not carried about with divers and strange doctrines: for it is a good thing that the heart be established with grace; not with meats, which have not profited them that have been occupied in them.

¹⁸ Of his own will he hath begotten us with the word of truth, that we should be a kind of first-fruits of his creatures.

²³ Being born again, not of corruptible seed, but of incorruptible, by the word of God, which liveth and abideth for ever.

¹⁸ For Christ also hath once suffered for sins, the just for the unjust, that he might bring us to God, being put to death in the flesh, but made alive by the Spirit:

²¹ The like figure to which, even baptism, doth also now save us (not the putting away of the filth of the flesh, but the answer of a good conscience towards God,) by the resurrection of Jesus Christ:

² Thou knowest my down-sitting and my up rising, thou understandest my thought afar off. ³ Thou compassest my path and my lying down, and art acquainted with all my ways. ⁴ For there is not a word on my tongue, but lo, O LORD, thou knowest it altogether.

⁴² But I know you, that ye have not the love of God in you.

⁶¹ When Jesus knew in himself that his disciples murmured at it, he said to them, Doth this offend you?

⁷⁰ Jesus answered them, Have not I chosen you twelve, and one of you is a devil? ⁷¹ He spoke of Judas Iscariot the son of Simon: for it was he that was to betray him, being one of the twelve.

²³ And he said to them, Ye are from beneath; I am from above: ye are of this world; I am not of this world.

³⁸ I speak that which I have seen with my Father: and ye do that which ye have seen with your father. ³⁹ They answered and said to him, Abraham is our father. Jesus saith to them, If ye were Abraham's children, ye would do the works of Abraham. ⁴⁰ But now ye seek to kill me, a man that hath told you the truth, which I have heard from God: this did not Abraham. ⁴¹ Ye do the deeds of your father. Then said they to him, We are not born of fornication; we have one Father, even God. ⁴² Jesus said to them, If God were your Father, ye would love me: for I proceeded forth and came from God; neither came I of myself, but he sent me. ⁴³ Why do ye not understand my speech? even because ye cannot hear my word. ⁴⁴ Ye are of your father the devil, and the lusts of your father ye will do: he was a murderer from the beginning, and abode not in the truth, because there is no truth in him. When he speaketh a lie, he speaketh of his own: for he is a liar, and the father of it. ⁴⁵ And because I tell you the truth, ye believe me not. ⁴⁶ Which of you convicteth me of sin? And if I speak the truth, why do ye not believe me? ⁴⁷ He that is of God, heareth God's words: ye therefore hear them not, because ye are not of God.

²⁶ But ye believe not, because ye are not of my sheep, as I said to you.

¹⁰ Jesus saith to him, He that is washed needeth not save to wash his feet, but is wholly clean: and ye are clean, but not all. ¹¹ For he knew who would betray him; therefore said he, Ye are not all clean.

¹⁸ I speak not of you all; I know whom I have chosen: but that the scripture may be fulfilled, He that eateth bread with me, hath lifted up his heel against me. ¹⁹ Now I tell you before it cometh, that when it hath come to pass, ye may believe that I am he. ²⁰ Verily, verily, I say to you, He that receiveth whomsoever I send, receiveth me; and he that receiveth me, receiveth him that sent me. ²¹ When Jesus had thus said, he was troubled in spirit, and testified, and said, Verily, verily, I say to you, that one of you will betray me.

¹⁸ Known to God are all his works from the beginning of the world.

²⁹ For whom he did foreknow, he also did predestinate to be conformed to the image of his Son, that he might be the first-born among many brethren.

²⁷ John answered and said, A man can receive nothing, except it be given him from heaven.

¹⁶ And other sheep I have which are not of this fold: them also I must bring, and they shall hear my voice; and there shall be one fold, and one shepherd.

²⁶ But ye believe not, because ye are not of my sheep, as I said to you. ²⁷ My sheep hear my voice, and I know them, and they follow me:

³⁷ But though he had done so many miracles before them, yet they believed not on him: ³⁸ That the saying of Isaiah the prophet might be fulfilled, which he spoke, Lord, who hath believed our report? and to whom hath the arm of the Lord been revealed? ³⁹ Therefore they could not believe, because that Isaiah said again, ⁴⁰ He hath blinded their eyes, and hardened their heart; that they should not see with their eyes, nor understand with their heart, and be converted, and I should heal them. ⁴¹ These things said Isaiah, when he saw his glory, and spoke of him.

⁸ For by grace are ye saved, through faith; and that not of yourselves: it is the gift of God: ⁹ Not by works, lest any man should boast.

¹⁴ And the grace of our Lord was exceeding abundant with faith and love which is in Christ Jesus.

²⁵ In meekness instructing those that oppose themselves; if God perhaps will give them repentance to the acknowledging of the truth:

² Looking to Jesus the author and finisher of our faith; who for the joy that was set before him endured the cross, despising the shame, and is set down at the right hand of the throne of God.

¹⁶ Do not err, my beloved brethren. ¹⁷ Every good gift and every perfect gift is from above, and cometh down from the Father of lights, with whom is no variableness, neither shadow of turning. ¹⁸ Of his own will he hath begotten us with the word of truth, that we should be a kind of first-fruits of his creatures.

⁶ And them that have turned back from the LORD; and those that have not sought the LORD, nor inquired for him.

⁴⁰ For as Jonah was three days and three nights in the whale's belly: so shall the Son of man be three days and three nights in the heart of the earth. ⁴¹ The men of Nineveh shall rise in judgment with this generation, and shall condemn it: because they repented at the preaching of Jonah; and behold, a greater than Jonah is here. ⁴² The queen of the south shall rise up in the judgment with this generation, and shall condemn it: for she came from the uttermost parts of the earth to hear the wisdom of Solomon; and behold, a greater than Solomon is here. ⁴³ When the unclean spirit is gone out of a man, he walketh through dry places, seeking rest, and he findeth none. ⁴⁴ Then he saith, I will return into my house from whence I came out; and when he is come, he findeth it empty, swept, and garnished. ⁴⁵ Then goeth he, and taketh with himself seven other spirits more wicked than himself, and they enter in and dwell there: and the last state of that man is worse than the first. Even so shall it be also to this wicked generation.

²⁰ But he that received the seed into stony places, the same is he that heareth the word, and immediately with joy receiveth it; ²¹ Yet he hath not root in himself, but endureth for a while: for when tribulation or persecution ariseth because of the word, forthwith he is offended.

²² But when the young man heard that saying, he went away sorrowful: for he had great possessions.

⁸ And a very great multitude spread their garments in the way; others cut down branches from the trees, and strewed them in the way. ⁹ And the multitudes that went before, and that followed, cried, saying, Hosanna to the son of David: blessed is he that cometh in the name of the Lord: Hosanna in the highest. ¹⁰ And when he had come into Jerusalem, all the city was moved, saying, Who is this? ¹¹ And the multitude said, This is Jesus the prophet of Nazareth of Galilee.

²⁰ But the chief priests and elders persuaded the multitude that they should ask Barabbas, and destroy Jesus. ²¹ The governor answered and said to them, Which of the two will ye that I release to you? They said, Barabbas. ²² Pilate saith to them, What shall I do then with Jesus, who is called Christ? They all say to him, Let him be crucified. ²³ And the governor said, Why, what evil hath he done? But they cried out the more, saying, Let him be crucified. ²⁴ When Pilate saw that he could not prevail at all, but that rather a tumult was made, he took water, and washed his hands before the multitude, saying, I am innocent of the blood of this just person: see ye to it. ²⁵ Then answered all the people, and said, His blood be on us, and on our children.

⁶² And Jesus said to him, No man having put his hand to the plow, and looking back, is fit for the kingdom of God.

¹⁵ This thou knowest, that all they who are in Asia are turned away from me; of whom are Phygellus and Hermogenes.

¹⁰ For Demas hath forsaken me, having loved this present world, and hath departed to Thessalonica; Crescens to Galatia, Titus to Dalmatia.

³⁸ Now the just shall live by faith: but if any man shall draw back, my soul shall have no pleasure in him.

²⁰ For if after they have escaped the pollutions of the world through the knowledge of the Lord and Savior Jesus Christ, they are again entangled in them, and overcome, the latter end is worse with them than the beginning. ²¹ For it had been better for them not to have known the way of righteousness, than, after they have known it, to turn from the holy commandment delivered to them. ²² But it hath happened to them according to the true proverb, The dog is turned to his own vomit again; and, The sow that was washed, to her wallowing in the mire.

¹¹ And Naomi said, Turn again, my daughters: why will ye go with me? shall I bear more sons, that they may be your husbands? ¹² Turn again, my daughters, go your way; for I am too old to have a husband. If I should say, I have hope, if I should have a husband also to-night, and should also bear sons; ¹³ Would ye wait for them till they should be grown? would ye stay for them from having husbands? nay, my daughters; for it grieveth me much for your sakes, that the hand of the LORD has gone out against me. ¹⁴ And they lifted up their voice, and wept again. And Orpah kissed her mother-in-law; but Ruth cleaved to her. ¹⁵ And she said, Behold, thy sister-in-law hath gone back to her people, and to her gods: return thou after thy sister-in-law. ¹⁶ And Ruth said, Entreat me not to leave thee, or to return from following thee: for whither thou goest, I will go; and where thou lodgest, I will lodge: thy people shall be my people, and thy God my God: ¹⁷ Where thou diest, will I die, and there will I be buried: the LORD do so to me, and more also, if aught but death shall part thee and me. ¹⁸ When she saw that she was steadfastly resolved to go with her, then she left speaking to her.

¹⁹ Then said the king to Ittai the Gittite, Why goest thou also with us? return to thy place, and abide with the king; for thou art a stranger, and also an exile. ²⁰ Whereas thou camest but yesterday, should I this day make thee go up and down with us? seeing I go whither I may; return thou, and take back thy brethren: mercy and truth be with thee.

² Now the names of the twelve apostles are these; The first, Simon, who is called Peter, and Andrew his brother; James the son of Zebedee, and John his brother;

²⁵ And there went great multitudes with him: and he turned, and said to them, ²⁶ If any man cometh to me, and hateth not his father, and mother, and wife, and children, and brethren, and sisters, yes, and his own life also, he cannot be my disciple. ²⁷ And whoever doth not bear his cross, and come after me, cannot be my disciple. ²⁸ For which of you intending to build a tower, sitteth not down first, and counteth the cost, whether he hath sufficient to finish it? ²⁹ Lest perhaps after he hath laid the foundation, and is not able to finish it, all that behold it begin to mock him, ³⁰ Saying, This man began to build, and was not able to finish. ³¹ Or what king going to make war against another king, sitteth not down first, and consulteth whether he is able with ten thousand to meet him that cometh against him with twenty thousand? ³² Or else, while the other is yet a great way off, he sendeth an embassy, and desireth conditions of peace. ³³ So likewise, whoever he is of you that forsaketh not all that he hath, he cannot be my disciple.

⁷⁰ Jesus answered them, Have not I chosen you twelve, and one of you is a devil?

²⁵ Whom have I in heaven but thee? and there is none upon earth that I desire besides thee.

¹² Neither is there salvation in any other: for there is no other name under heaven given among men, by which we must be saved.

²⁰ Go, stand and speak in the temple to the people all the words of this life.

³⁸ This is he, that was in the church in the wilderness with the angel who spoke to him on the mount Sina, and with our fathers: who received the living oracles to give to us:

¹ The beginning of the gospel of Jesus Christ the Son of God;

²⁴ Saying, Let us alone; what have we to do with thee, thou Jesus of Nazareth? art thou come to destroy us? I know thee who thou art, the Holy One of God.

²⁹ And he saith to them, But who say ye that I am? And Peter answereth and saith to him, Thou art the Christ.

²⁰ He said to them, But who say ye that I am? Peter answering, said, Christ of God.

⁴¹ He first findeth his own brother Simon, and saith to him, We have found the Messiah; which is, being interpreted, the Christ.

⁴⁵ Philip findeth Nathanael, and saith to him, We have found him described by Moses in the law, and by the prophets, Jesus of Nazareth, the son of Joseph. ⁴⁶ And Nathanael said to him, Can there any good thing come out of Nazareth? Philip saith to him, Come and see. ⁴⁷ Jesus saw Nathanael coming to him, and saith of him, Behold an Israelite indeed, in whom is no guile! ⁴⁸ Nathanael saith to him, Whence knowest thou me? Jesus answered and said to him, Before Philip called thee, when thou wast under the fig-tree, I saw thee. ⁴⁹ Nathanael answered and said to him, Rabbi, thou art the Son of God; thou art the King of Israel.

²⁷ She saith to him, Yes, Lord, I believe that thou art the Christ, the Son of God, who was to come into the world.

²⁸ And Thomas answered and said to him, My Lord and my God.

³¹ But these are written, that ye may believe that Jesus is the Christ, the Son of God, and that believing ye may have life through his name.

³⁶ And as they went on their way, they came to a certain water: and the eunuch said, See, here is water; what doth hinder me to be baptized?

³ Concerning his Son Jesus Christ our Lord, who was born of the seed of David according to the flesh.

¹ And when he had called to him his twelve disciples, he gave them power against unclean spirits, to cast them out, and to heal all manner of sickness, and all manner of disease. ² Now the names of the twelve apostles are these; The first, Simon, who is called Peter, and Andrew his brother; James the son of Zebedee, and John his brother; ³ Philip, and Bartholomew; Thomas, and Matthew the publican; James the son of Alpheus, and Lebbeus, whose surname was Thaddeus; ⁴ Simon the Canaanite, and Judas Iscariot, who also betrayed him.

¹³ And when it was day, he called to him his disciples: and of them he chose twelve, whom also he named Apostles; ¹⁴ Simon (whom he also named Peter) and Andrew his brother, James and John, and Philip and Bartholomew, ¹⁵ Matthew and Thomas, James the son of Alpheus, and Simon called Zelotes, ¹⁶ And Judas the brother of James, and Judas Iscariot, who also was the traitor.

⁴⁴ Ye are of your father the devil, and the lusts of your father ye will do: he was a murderer from the beginning, and abode not in the truth, because there is no truth in him. When he speaketh a lie, he speaketh of his own: for he is a liar, and the father of it.

² And supper being ended (the devil having now put into the heart of Judas Iscariot, Simon's son, to betray him;)

¹⁸ I speak not of you all; I know whom I have chosen: but that the scripture may be fulfilled, He that eateth bread with me, hath lifted up his heel against me.

²¹ When Jesus had thus said, he was troubled in spirit, and testified, and said, Verily, verily, I say to you, that one of you will betray me.

²⁷ And after the sop Satan entered into him. Then said Jesus to him, What thou doest, do quickly.

¹⁶ Ye have not chosen me, but I have chosen you, and ordained you, that ye should go and bring forth fruit, and that your fruit should remain: that whatever ye shall ask of the Father in my name, he may give it you.

¹⁹ If ye were of the world, the world would love its own: but because ye are not of the world, but I have chosen you out of the world, therefore the world hateth you.

¹⁷ For he was numbered with us, and had obtained part of this ministry.

¹⁰ And said, O full of all subtilty, and all mischief, thou child of the devil, thou enemy of all righteousness, wilt thou not cease to pervert the right ways of the Lord?

¹¹ Even so must their wives be grave, not slanderers, sober, faithful in all things.

³ The aged women likewise, that they be in behavior as becometh holiness, not false accusers, not given to much wine, teachers of good things;

⁸ He that committeth sin is of the devil; for the devil sinneth from the beginning. For this purpose the Son of God was manifested, that he might destroy the works of the devil. ⁹ Behold, I will make them of the synagogue of Satan, who say they are Jews, and are not, but do lie; behold, I will make them to come and worship before thy feet, and to know that I have loved thee. ¹⁰ Because thou hast kept the word of my patience, I also will keep thee from the hour of temptation, which shall come upon all the world, to try them that dwell upon the earth.

⁹ (41:8)An evil disease, say they, cleaveth fast to him: and now that he lieth he shall rise no more.

¹³ (55:12)For it was not an enemy that reproached me; then I could have borne it: neither was it he that hated me that magnified himself against me; then I would have hid myself from him: ¹⁴ (55:13)But it was thou, a man my equal, my guide, and my acquaintance.

⁶ Set thou a wicked man over him: and let Satan stand at his right hand. ⁷ When he shall be judged, let him be condemned: and let his prayer become sin. ⁸ Let his days be few; and let another take his office.

¹⁴ Then one of the twelve, called Judas Iscariot, went to the chief priests, ¹⁵ And said, What will ye give me, and I will deliver him to you? And they covenanted with him for thirty pieces of silver. ¹⁶ And from that time he sought opportunity to betray him.

³ Then Judas, who had betrayed him, when he saw that he was condemned, repented and brought again the thirty pieces of silver to the chief priests and elders, ⁴ Saying, I have sinned in that I have betrayed innocent blood. And they said, What is that to us? see thou to that. ⁵ And he cast down the pieces of silver in the temple, and departed, and went and hanged himself.

²⁶ Jesus answered, He it is to whom I shall give a sop, when I have dipped it. And when he had dipped the sop, he gave it to Judas Iscariot, the son of Simon.

² And Judas also, who betrayed him, knew the place: for Jesus often resorted thither with his disciples. ³ Judas then, having received a band of men and officers from the chief priests and Pharisees, cometh thither with lanterns, and torches, and weapons. ⁴ Jesus therefore, knowing all things that were coming upon him, went forth, and said to them, Whom seek ye? ⁵ They answered him, Jesus of Nazareth. Jesus saith to them, I am he. And Judas also, who betrayed him, stood with them. ⁶ As soon then as he had said to them, I am he, they went backward, and fell to the ground.

¹⁶ Men, brethren, This scripture must needs have been fulfilled, which the Holy Spirit by the mouth of David spoke before concerning Judas, who was guide to them that took Jesus. ¹⁷ For he was numbered with us, and had obtained part of this ministry. ¹⁸ Now this man purchased a field with the reward of iniquity; and falling headlong, he burst asunder in the midst, and all his bowels gushed out. ¹⁹ And it was known to all the dwellers at Jerusalem; so that that field is called in their proper tongue, Aceldama, that is to say, The field of blood. ²⁰ For it is written in the book of Psalms, Let his habitation be desolate, and let no man dwell in it: and, His bishopric let another take.

²³ Him, being delivered by the determinate counsel and foreknowledge of God, ye have taken, and by wicked hands have crucified and slain:

⁴ For certain men have crept in unawares, who were before of old ordained to this condemnation, ungodly men, turning the grace of our God into lasciviousness, and denying the only Lord God, and our Lord Jesus Christ.
