¹ Forasmuch as many have taken in hand to set forth in order a declaration of those things which are most surely believed among us, ² Even as they delivered them to us, who from the beginning were eye-witnesses, and ministers of the word; ³ It seemed good to me also, having had perfect understanding of all things from the very first, to write to thee in order, most excellent Theophilus, ⁴ That thou mayest know the certainty of those things in which thou hast been instructed. ⁵ There was in the days of Herod the king of Judea, a certain priest named Zacharias, of the course of Abia: and his wife was of the daughters of Aaron, and her name was Elisabeth. ⁶ And they were both righteous before God, walking in all the commandments and ordinances of the Lord blameless. ⁷ And they had no child, because Elisabeth was barren, and they both were far advanced in years. ⁸ And it came to pass, that, while he executed the priests' office before God in the order of his course, ⁹ According to the custom of the priests' office, his lot was to burn incense when he went into the temple of the Lord. ¹⁰ And the whole multitude of the people were praying without, at the time of incense. ¹¹ And there appeared to him an angel of the Lord, standing on the right side of the altar of incense. ¹² And when Zacharias saw him, he was troubled, and fear fell upon him. ¹³ But the angel said to him, Fear not, Zacharias: for thy prayer is heard; and thy wife Elisabeth shall bear thee a son, and thou shalt call his name John. ¹⁴ And thou shalt have joy and gladness, and many shall rejoice at his birth. ¹⁵ For he shall be great in the sight of the Lord, and shall drink neither wine nor strong drink; and he shall be filled with the Holy Spirit, even from his mother's womb. ¹⁶ And many of the children of Israel shall he turn to the Lord their God. ¹⁷ And he shall go before him in the spirit and power of Elijah, to turn the hearts of the fathers to the children, and the disobedient to the wisdom of the just; to make ready a people prepared for the Lord. ¹⁸ And Zacharias said to the angel, By what shall I know this? for I am an old man, and my wife far advanced in years. ¹⁹ And the angel answering, said to him, I am Gabriel, who stand in the presence of God; and am sent to speak to thee, and to show thee these glad tidings. ²⁰ And behold, thou shalt be dumb, and not able to speak, until the day that these things shall be performed, because thou believest not my words which shall be fulfilled in their season. ²¹ And the people waited for Zacharias, and marveled that he tarried so long in the temple. ²² And when he came out, he could not speak to them: and they perceived that he had seen a vision in the temple; for he beckoned to them, and remained speechless. ²³ And it came to pass, that as soon as the days of his ministration were accomplished, he departed to his own house. ²⁴ And after those days his wife Elisabeth conceived, and secluded herself five months, saying, ²⁵ Thus hath the Lord dealt with me in the days in which he looked on me, to take away my reproach among men. ²⁶ And in the sixth month, the angel Gabriel was sent from God to a city of Galilee, named Nazareth, ²⁷ To a virgin espoused to a man whose name was Joseph, of the house of David; and the virgin's name was Mary. ²⁸ And the angel came to her, and said, Hail, thou that art highly favored, the Lord is with thee: blessed art thou among women. ²⁹ And when she saw him, she was troubled at his saying, and cast in her mind what manner of salutation this should be. ³⁰ And the angel said to her, Fear not, Mary: for thou hast found favor with God. ³¹ And behold, thou shalt conceive in thy womb, and bring forth a son, and shalt call his name JESUS. ³² He will be great, and will be called the Son of the Highest; and the Lord God will give to him the throne of his father David. ³³ And he will reign over the house of Jacob for ever, and of his kingdom there will be no end. ³⁴ Then said Mary to the angel, How shall this be, seeing I know not a man? ³⁵ And the angel answered and said to her, The Holy Spirit will come upon thee, and the power of the Highest will overshadow thee: therefore also that holy thing which shall be born of thee shall be called the Son of God. ³⁶ And behold, thy cousin Elisabeth, she hath also conceived a son in her old age; and this is the sixth month with her who was called barren: ³⁷ For with God nothing will be impossible. ³⁸ And Mary said, Behold the handmaid of the Lord, be it to me according to thy word. And the angel departed from her. ³⁹ And Mary arose in those days, and went into the hill-country with haste, into a city of Judah, ⁴⁰ And entered into the house of Zacharias, and saluted Elisabeth. ⁴¹ And it came to pass, that when Elisabeth heard the salutation of Mary, the babe leaped in her womb: and Elisabeth was filled with the Holy Spirit. ⁴² And she spoke with a loud voice, and said, Blessed art thou among women, and blessed is the fruit of thy womb. ⁴³ And whence is this to me, that the mother of my Lord should come to me? ⁴⁴ For lo, as soon as the voice of thy salutation sounded in my ears, the babe leaped in my womb for joy. ⁴⁵ And blessed is she that believed that there will be a performance of those things which were told her from the Lord. ⁴⁶ And Mary said, My soul doth magnify the Lord, ⁴⁷ And my spirit hath rejoiced in God my Savior. ⁴⁸ For he hath regarded the low estate of his handmaiden: for behold, from henceforth all generations will call me blessed. ⁴⁹ For he that is mighty hath done to me great things, and holy is his name. ⁵⁰ And his mercy is on them that fear him, from generation to generation. ⁵¹ He hath shown strength with his arm; he hath scattered the proud in the imagination of their hearts. ⁵² He hath put down the mighty from their seats, and exalted them of low degree. ⁵³ He hath filled the hungry with good things, and the rich he hath sent away empty. ⁵⁴ He hath sustained his servant Israel, in remembrance of his mercy; ⁵⁵ As he spoke to our fathers, to Abraham, and to his seed for ever. ⁵⁶ And Mary abode with her about three months, and returned to her own house. ⁵⁷ Now Elisabeth's full time came that she should be delivered; and she brought forth a son. ⁵⁸ And her neighbors and her cousins heard that the Lord had shown great mercy upon her; and they rejoiced with her. ⁵⁹ And it came to pass, that on the eighth day they came to circumcise the child; and they called him Zacharias, after the name of his father. ⁶⁰ And his mother answered and said, Not so; but he shall be called John. ⁶¹ And they said to her, There is none of thy kindred that is called by this name. ⁶² And they made signs to his father, how he would have him called. ⁶³ And he asked for a writing-table, and wrote, saying, His name is John. And they all wondered. ⁶⁴ And his mouth was opened immediately, and his tongue loosed, and he spoke, and praised God. ⁶⁵ And fear came on all that dwelt around them; and all these sayings were noised abroad throughout all the hill-country of Judea. ⁶⁶ And all they that had heard them, laid them up in their hearts, saying, What manner of child will this be! And the hand of the Lord was with him. ⁶⁷ And his father Zacharias was filled with the Holy Spirit, and prophesied, saying, ⁶⁸ Blessed be the Lord God of Israel; for he hath visited and redeemed his people. ⁶⁹ And hath raised up a horn of salvation for us, in the house of his servant David: ⁷⁰ As he spoke by the mouth of his holy prophets, who have been since the world began: ⁷¹ That we should be saved from our enemies, and from the hand of all that hate us; ⁷² To perform the mercy promised to our fathers, and to remember his holy covenant: ⁷³ The oath which he swore to our father Abraham, ⁷⁴ That he would grant to us, that we being delivered out of the hand of our enemies, might serve him without fear, ⁷⁵ In holiness and righteousness before him, all the days of our life. ⁷⁶ And thou, child, shalt be called the prophet of the Highest, for thou shalt go before the face of the Lord to prepare his ways; ⁷⁷ To give knowledge of salvation to his people, by the remission of their sins, ⁷⁸ Through the tender mercy of our God; by which the day-spring from on high hath visited us, ⁷⁹ To give light to them that sit in darkness and in the shades of death, to guide our feet into the way of peace. ⁸⁰ And the child grew, and became strong in spirit, and was in the deserts till the day of his showing to Israel.

³¹ But these are written, that ye may believe that Jesus is the Christ, the Son of God, and that believing ye may have life through his name.

¹ The former treatise have I made, O Theophilus, of all that Jesus began both to do and teach, ² Until the day in which he was taken up, after that he through the Holy Spirit had given commandments to the apostles whom he had chosen: ³ To whom also he showed himself alive after his passion, by many infallible proofs, being seen by them forty days, and speaking of the things pertaining to the kingdom of God:

¹⁶ And without controversy, great is the mystery of godliness: God was manifest in the flesh, justified in the Spirit, seen by angels, preached to the Gentiles, believed on in the world, received up into glory.

¹⁷ Notwithstanding, the Lord stood with me, and strengthened me; that by me the preaching might be fully known, and that all the Gentiles might hear: and I was delivered out of the mouth of the lion.

¹⁶ For we have not followed cunningly devised fables, when we made known to you the power and coming of our Lord Jesus Christ, but were eye-witnesses of his majesty. ¹⁷ For he received from God the Father honor and glory, when there came such a voice to him from the excellent glory, This is my beloved Son, in whom I am well pleased. ¹⁸ And this voice which came from heaven we heard, when we were with him on the holy mount. ¹⁹ We have also a more sure word of prophecy; to which ye do well that ye take heed, as to a light that shineth in a dark place, until the day dawn, and the day-star arise in your hearts:

¹ The beginning of the gospel of Jesus Christ the Son of God;

¹⁴ The sower soweth the word.

⁴⁸ And ye are witnesses of these things.

²⁷ And ye also shall bear testimony, because ye have been with me from the beginning.

³ To whom also he showed himself alive after his passion, by many infallible proofs, being seen by them forty days, and speaking of the things pertaining to the kingdom of God:

⁸ But ye shall receive power after the Holy Spirit is come upon you: and ye shall be witnesses to me, both in Jerusalem, and in all Judea, and in Samaria, and to the uttermost part of the earth.

²¹ Wherefore, of these men who accompanied us, all the time that the Lord Jesus went in and out among us, ²² Beginning from the baptism of John, to that same day that he was taken up from us, must one be ordained to be a witness with us of his resurrection.

²⁰ For we cannot but speak the things which we have seen and heard.

³⁹ And we are witnesses of all things which he did, both in the land of the Jews, and in Jerusalem; whom they slew and hanged on a tree. ⁴⁰ Him God raised the third day, and showed him openly; ⁴¹ Not to all the people, but to witnesses chosen before by God, even to us, who ate and drank with him after he rose from the dead.

¹⁶ But rise, and stand upon thy feet: for I have appeared to thee for this purpose, to make thee a minister and a witness both of the things which thou hast seen, and of the things in which I will appear to thee;

¹⁶ That I should be the minister of Jesus Christ to the Gentiles, ministering the gospel of God, that the offering up of the Gentiles might be acceptable, being sanctified by the Holy Spirit.

¹ Let a man so account of us, as of the ministers of Christ, and stewards of the mysteries of God.

⁷ Of which I was made a minister, according to the gift of the grace of God given to me by the effectual working of his power. ⁸ To me, who am less than the least of all saints, is this grace given, that I should preach among the Gentiles the unsearchable riches of Christ;

¹¹ And he gave some, apostles; and some, prophets; and some, evangelists; and some, pastors and teachers; ¹² For the perfecting of the saints, for the work of the ministry, for the edifying of the body of Christ:

²³ If ye continue in the faith grounded and settled, and are not moved away from the hope of the gospel, which ye have heard, and which hath been preached to every creature which is under heaven; of which I Paul am made a minister; ²⁴ Who now rejoice in my sufferings for you, and fill up that which is behind of the afflictions of Christ in my flesh for his body's sake, which is the church: ²⁵ Of which I am made a minister, according to the dispensation of God which is given to me for you, to fulfill the word of God;

³ How shall we escape, if we neglect so great salvation; which at the first began to be spoken by the Lord, and was confirmed to us by them that heard him;

¹ The elders who are among you I exhort, who am also an elder, and a witness of the sufferings of Christ, and also a partaker of the glory that shall be revealed:

¹⁶ For we have not followed cunningly devised fables, when we made known to you the power and coming of our Lord Jesus Christ, but were eye-witnesses of his majesty.

¹ That which was from the beginning, which we have heard, which we have seen with our eyes, which we have looked upon, and our hands have handled, of the word of life; ² (For the life was manifested, and we have seen it, and testify, and show to you that eternal life which was with the Father, and was manifested to us;) ³ That which we have seen and heard we declare to you, that ye also may have fellowship with us: and truly our fellowship is with the Father, and with his Son Jesus Christ.

²¹ These things hast thou done, and I kept silence; thou thoughtest that I was altogether such an one as thyself: but I will reprove thee, and set them in order before thine eyes.

⁴ But Peter rehearsed the matter from the beginning, and expounded it by order to them, saying,

¹⁹ Wherefore my sentence is, that we trouble not them, who from among the Gentiles are turned to God:

²⁵ It seemed good to us, being assembled with one accord, to send chosen men to you, with our beloved Barnabas and Paul:

²⁸ For it seemed good to the Holy Spirit, and to us, to lay upon you no greater burden than these necessary things;

²⁶ Claudius Lysias, to the most excellent governor Felix, sendeth greeting.

³ We accept it always, and in all places, most noble Felix, with all thankfulness.

²⁵ But he said, I am not insane, most noble Festus; but speak forth the words of truth and soberness.

⁴⁰ But she is happier if she so remain, after my judgment; and I think also that I have the Spirit of God.

¹² As concerning our brother Apollos, I greatly desired him to come to you with the brethren: but his will was not at all to come at this time; but he will come when he shall have convenient time.

¹⁸ And knowest his will, and approvest the things that are more excellent, being instructed out of the law,

⁶ Let him that is taught in the word communicate to him that teacheth in all good things.

² I know it to be so of a truth: but how should man be just with God?

⁶ Then shall I not be ashamed, when I have respect to all thy commandments.

¹⁵ And he said to them, Ye are they who justify yourselves before men; but God knoweth your hearts: for that which is highly esteemed among men, is abomination in the sight of God.

¹ And Paul, earnestly beholding the council, said, Men, brethren, I have lived in all good conscience before God until this day.

¹⁶ And in this I exercise myself, to have always a conscience void of offense towards God, and towards men.

⁹ What then? are we better than they? No, in no wise: for we have before proved both Jews and Gentiles, that they are all under sin; ¹⁰ As it is written, There is none righteous, no, not one: ¹¹ There is none that understandeth, there is none that seeketh God. ¹² They are all gone out of the way, they are together become unprofitable: there is none that doeth good, no, not one. ¹³ Their throat is an open sepulcher; with their tongues they have used deceit; the poison of asps is under their lips: ¹⁴ Whose mouth is full of cursing and bitterness. ¹⁵ Their feet are swift to shed blood. ¹⁶ Destruction and misery are in their ways: ¹⁷ And the way of peace have they not known. ¹⁸ There is no fear of God before their eyes. ¹⁹ Now we know that whatever things the law saith, it saith to them who are under the law: that every mouth may be stopped, and all the world may become guilty before God. ²⁰ Therefore by the deeds of the law, there shall no flesh be justified in his sight: for by the law is the knowledge of sin. ²¹ But now the righteousness of God without the law is manifested, being testified by the law and the prophets; ²² Even the righteousness of God, which is by faith of Jesus Christ to all, and upon all them that believe; for there is no difference: ²³ For all have sinned, and come short of the glory of God; ²⁴ Being justified freely by his grace, through the redemption that is in Jesus Christ: ²⁵ Whom God hath set forth to be a propitiation, through faith in his blood, to declare his righteousness for the remission of sins that are past, through the forbearance of God;

² Now I praise you, brethren, that ye remember me in all things, and keep the ordinances, as I delivered them to you.

¹² For our rejoicing is this, the testimony of our conscience, that in simplicity and godly sincerity, not with fleshly wisdom, but by the grace of God, we have had our manner of life in the world, and more abundantly toward you.

¹⁵ That ye may be blameless and harmless, the sons of God, without rebuke, in the midst of a crooked and perverse nation, among whom ye shine as lights in the world;

⁶ Concerning zeal, persecuting the church; with respect to the righteousness which is by the law, blameless. ⁷ But what things were gain to me, those I counted loss for Christ. ⁸ Yes doubtless, and I count all things to be loss for the excellence of the knowledge of Christ Jesus my Lord: for whom I have suffered the loss of all things, and do count them to be dung, that I may win Christ, ⁹ And be found in him, not having my own righteousness, which is from the law, but that which is through the faith of Christ, the righteousness which is from God by faith:

²² In the body of his flesh through death, to present you holy and unblamable and unreprovable in his sight:

¹³ To the end he may establish your hearts unblamable in holiness before God, even our Father, at the coming of our Lord Jesus Christ with all his saints.

¹¹ For the grace of God that bringeth salvation hath appeared to all men, ¹² Teaching us, that denying ungodliness, and worldly lusts, we should live soberly, righteously, and piously, in this present world; ¹³ Looking for that blessed hope, and the glorious appearing of the great God, and our Savior Jesus Christ; ¹⁴ Who gave himself for us, that he might redeem us from all iniquity, and purify to himself a peculiar people, zealous of good works.

³ For we ourselves also were sometimes foolish, disobedient, deceived, serving divers lusts and pleasures, living in malice and envy, hateful, and hating one another. ⁴ But when the kindness and love of God our Savior towards man appeared, ⁵ Not by works of righteousness which we have done, but according to his mercy he saved us, by the washing of regeneration, and renewing of the Holy Spirit; ⁶ Which he shed on us abundantly, through Jesus Christ our Savior; ⁷ That being justified by his grace, we should be made heirs according to the hope of eternal life.

¹⁴ Wherefore, beloved, seeing that ye look for such things, be diligent that ye may be found by him in peace, without spot, and blameless.

³ And by this we do know that we know him, if we keep his commandments.

²⁹ If ye know that he is righteous ye know that every one that doeth righteousness is born of him.

⁷ Little children, let no man deceive you: he that doeth righteousness is righteous, even as he is righteous.

² And Abram said, Lord GOD, what wilt thou give me, seeing I go childless, and the steward of my house is this Eliezer of Damascus? ³ And Abram said, Behold, to me thou hast given no seed: and lo, one born in my house is my heir.

¹ Now Sarai, Abram's wife, bore him no children: and she had a handmaid, an Egyptian, whose name was Hagar. ² And Sarai said to Abram, Behold, now, the LORD hath restrained me from bearing: I pray thee go in to my maid; it may be that I may obtain children by her. ¹⁷ Then Abraham fell upon his face, and laughed, and said in his heart, Shall a child be born to him that is a hundred years old? and shall Sarah, who is ninety years old, bear?

¹¹ Now Abraham and Sarah were old and far advanced in age; and it ceased to be with Sarah after the manner of women.

²¹ And Isaac entreated the LORD for his wife, because she was barren: and the LORD was entreated of him, and Rebekah his wife conceived.

¹ And when Rachel saw that she bore Jacob no children, Rachel envied her sister; and said to Jacob, Give me children, or else I die.

² And there was a certain man of Zorah, of the family of the Danites, whose name was Manoah; and his wife was barren, and bore not. ³ And the angel of the LORD appeared to the woman, and said to her, Behold, now, thou art barren, and bearest not: but thou shalt conceive, and bear a son.

² And he had two wives; the name of the one was Hannah, and the name of the other Peninnah: and Peninnah had children, but Hannah had no children.

⁵ But to Hannah he gave a worthy portion; for he loved Hannah; but the LORD had rendered her barren. ⁶ And her adversary also provoked her greatly, to make her fret, because the LORD had made her barren. ⁷ And as he did so year by year, when she went up to the house of the LORD, so she provoked her; therefore she wept, and did not eat. ⁸ Then said Elkanah her husband to her, Hannah, why weepest thou? and why eatest thou not? and why is thy heart grieved? am not I better to thee than ten sons?

¹ Now king David was old and advanced in years; and they covered him with clothes, but he got no heat.

¹⁴ And he said, What then is to be done for her? And Gehazi answered, Verily she hath no child, and her husband is old.

¹⁹ And being not weak in faith, he considered not his own body now dead, when he was about a hundred years old, neither yet the deadness of Sarah's womb.

¹¹ Through faith also Sarah herself received strength to conceive seed, and was delivered of a child when she was past age, because she judged him faithful who had promised.

¹ And take thou to thee Aaron thy brother, and his sons with him, from among the children of Israel, that he may minister to me in the priest's office, even Aaron, Nadab and Abihu, Eleazar and Ithamar, Aaron's sons.

⁴¹ And thou shalt put them upon Aaron thy brother, and on his sons with him: and shalt anoint them, and consecrate them, and sanctify them, that they may minister to me in the priest's office.

¹ And this is the thing that thou shalt do to them to hallow them, to minister to me in the priest's office: Take one young bullock, and two rams without blemish,

⁹ And thou shalt gird them with girdles (Aaron and his sons) and put the bonnets on them; and the priest's office shall be theirs for a perpetual statute: and thou shalt consecrate Aaron and his sons.

⁴⁴ And I will sanctify the tabernacle of the congregation, and the altar: I will sanctify also both Aaron and his sons, to minister to me in the priest's office.

³⁰ And thou shalt anoint Aaron and his sons, and consecrate them, that they may minister to me in the priest's office.

⁷ Therefore thou and thy sons with thee shall keep your priest's office for every thing of the altar, and within the vail; and ye shall serve: I have given your priest's office to you as a service of gift: and the stranger that cometh nigh shall be put to death.

² But Nadab and Abihu died before their father, and had no children: therefore Eleazar and Ithamar executed the priests' office.

¹⁴ And he appointed, according to the order of David his father, the courses of the priests to their service, and the Levites to their charges, to praise and minister before the priests, as the duty of every day required: the porters also by their courses at every gate: for so had David the man of God commanded.

¹⁴ For the Levites left their suburbs and their possession, and came to Judah and Jerusalem: for Jeroboam and his sons had cast them off from executing the priest's office to the LORD:

² And Hezekiah appointed the courses of the priests and the Levites after their courses, every man according to his service, the priests and Levites for burnt-offerings and for peace-offerings, to minister, and to give thanks, and to praise in the gates of the tents of the LORD.

¹⁹ Also of the sons of Aaron the priests, who were in the fields of the suburbs of their cities, in every several city, the men that were expressed by name, to give portions to all the males among the priests, and to all that were reckoned by genealogies among the Levites.

¹⁸ And they set the priests in their divisions, and the Levites in their courses, for the service of God, who is at Jerusalem; as it is written in the book of Moses.

⁷ And Aaron shall burn upon it sweet incense every morning: when he dresseth the lamps, he shall burn incense upon it. ⁸ And when Aaron lighteth the lamps at evening, he shall burn incense upon it; a perpetual incense before the LORD, throughout your generations.

²⁵ And he made the incense-altar of shittim wood: the length of it was a cubit, and the breadth of it a cubit; it was foursquare; and two cubits was the hight of it; the horns of it were of the same. ²⁶ And he overlaid it with pure gold, both the top of it, and its sides round about, and its horns: also he made to it a crown of gold round about. ²⁷ And he made two rings of gold for it under its crown, by the two corners of it, upon its two sides, to be places for the staffs to bear it with. ²⁸ And he made the staffs of shittim wood, and overlaid them with gold. ²⁹ And he made the holy anointing oil, and the pure incense of sweet spices, according to the work of the apothecary.

⁴⁰ To be a memorial to the children of Israel, that no stranger, who is not of the seed of Aaron, should come near to offer incense before the LORD; that he may not be as Korah, and as his company: as the LORD said to him by the hand of Moses.

²⁸ And did I choose him out of all the tribes of Israel to be my priest, to offer upon my altar, to burn incense, to wear an ephod before me? and did I give to the house of thy father all the offerings made by fire of the children of Israel?

⁴⁹ But Aaron and his sons offered upon the altar of the burnt-offering, and on the altar of incense, and were appointed for all the work of the place most holy, and to make an atonement for Israel, according to all that Moses the servant of God had commanded.

¹³ The sons of Amram; Aaron and Moses: and Aaron was separated, that he should sanctify the most holy things, he and his sons for ever, to burn incense before the LORD, to minister to him, and to bless in his name for ever.

¹⁶ But when he was strong, his heart was lifted up to his destruction: for he transgressed against the LORD his God, and went into the temple of the LORD to burn incense upon the altar of incense.

¹¹ My sons, be not now negligent: for the LORD hath chosen you to stand before him, to serve him, and that ye should minister to him, and burn incense.

⁶ Now when these things were thus ordained, the priests went always into the first tabernacle, accomplishing the service of God:

¹⁷ And there shall be no man in the tabernacle of the congregation when he goeth in to make an atonement in the holy place, until he shall come out, and shall have made an atonement for himself, and for his household, and for all the congregation of Israel.

¹⁴ Seeing then that we have a great High Priest, that hath passed into the heavens, Jesus the Son of God, let us hold fast our profession.

²⁴ For Christ hath not entered into the holy places made with hands, which are the figures of the true; but into heaven itself, now to appear in the presence of God for us:

³ And another angel came and stood at the altar, having a golden censer; and there was given to him much incense, that he should offer it with the prayers of all saints upon the golden altar which was before the throne.

¹ And thou shalt make an altar to burn incense upon: of shittim wood shalt thou make it. ² A cubit shall be its length, and a cubit its breadth; foursquare shall it be; and two cubits shall be its hight: its horns shall be of the same. ³ And thou shalt overlay it with pure gold, its top, and its sides round about, and its horns; and thou shalt make to it a crown of gold round about. ⁴ And two golden rings shalt thou make to it under the crown of it, by its two corners, upon the two sides of it shalt thou make it; and they shall be for places for the staffs to bear it with. ⁵ And thou shalt make the staffs of shittim wood, and overlay them with gold. ⁶ And thou shalt put it before the vail that is by the ark of the testimony, before the mercy-seat that is over the testimony, where I will meet with thee. ⁷ And Aaron shall burn upon it sweet incense every morning: when he dresseth the lamps, he shall burn incense upon it. ⁸ And when Aaron lighteth the lamps at evening, he shall burn incense upon it; a perpetual incense before the LORD, throughout your generations. ⁹ Ye shall offer no strange incense upon it, nor burnt-sacrifice, nor meat-offering; neither shall ye pour drink-offering upon it. ¹⁰ And Aaron shall make an atonement upon the horns of it once in a year, with the blood of the sin-offering of atonements: once in a year shall he make atonement upon it throughout your generations: it is most holy to the LORD.

²⁶ And he put the golden altar in the tent of the congregation, before the vail: ²⁷ And he burnt sweet incense on it; as the LORD commanded Moses.

¹³ And he shall put the incense upon the fire before the LORD, that the cloud of the incense may cover the mercy-seat that is upon the testimony, that he may not die.

³ And the angel of the LORD appeared to the woman, and said to her, Behold, now, thou art barren, and bearest not: but thou shalt conceive, and bear a son.

⁹ And God hearkened to the voice of Manoah; and the angel of God came again to the woman as she sat in the field: but Manoah her husband was not with her.

¹⁹ And the angel answering, said to him, I am Gabriel, who stand in the presence of God; and am sent to speak to thee, and to show thee these glad tidings.

²⁸ And the angel came to her, and said, Hail, thou that art highly favored, the Lord is with thee: blessed art thou among women.

¹⁰ And the angel said to them, Fear not: for behold, I bring you good tidings of great joy which shall be to all people.

¹⁹ But the angel of the Lord by night opened the prison-doors, and brought them forth, and said,

³ He saw in a vision evidently, about the ninth hour of the day, an angel of God coming in to him, and saying to him, Cornelius. ⁴ And when he looked on him, he was afraid, and said, What is it, Lord? And he said to him, Thy prayers and thy alms are come up for a memorial before God.

¹⁴ Are they not all ministering spirits, sent forth to minister for them who shall inherit salvation?

³ And another angel came and stood at the altar, having a golden censer; and there was given to him much incense, that he should offer it with the prayers of all saints upon the golden altar which was before the throne. ⁴ And the smoke of the incense, which came with the prayers of the saints, ascended before God out of the angel's hand.

¹³ And the sixth angel sounded, and I heard a voice from the four horns of the golden altar which is before God,

²² And when Gideon perceived that he was an angel of the LORD, Gideon said, Alas, O Lord GOD! for because I have seen an angel of the LORD face to face.

²² And Manoah said to his wife, We shall surely die, because we have seen God.

¹⁴ Fear came upon me, and trembling, which made all my bones to shake. ¹⁵ Then a spirit passed before my face; the hair of my flesh stood up:

⁷ And I Daniel alone saw the vision: for the men that were with me saw not the vision: but a great quaking fell upon them, so that they fled to hide themselves.

⁵ And entering into the sepulcher, they saw a young man sitting on the right side, clothed in a long white garment; and they were frightened.

²⁹ And when she saw him, she was troubled at his saying, and cast in her mind what manner of salutation this should be.

⁹ And lo, the angel of the Lord came upon them, and the glory of the Lord shone around them; and they were in great fear. ¹⁰ And the angel said to them, Fear not: for behold, I bring you good tidings of great joy which shall be to all people.

⁴ And when he looked on him, he was afraid, and said, What is it, Lord? And he said to him, Thy prayers and thy alms are come up for a memorial before God.

¹⁷ And when I saw him, I fell at his feet as dead. And he laid his right hand upon me, saying to me, Fear not; I am the first and the last:

¹⁰ This is my covenant, which ye shall keep between me and you, and thy seed after thee; Every male-child among you shall be circumcised.

¹⁹ And God said, Sarah thy wife shall bear thee a son indeed; and thou shalt call his name Isaac: and I will establish my covenant with him for an everlasting covenant, and with his seed after him.

¹⁴ Is any thing too hard for the LORD? At the time appointed I will return to thee, according to the time of life, and Sarah shall have a son.

²³ And the LORD said to him, Peace be to thee; fear not: thou shalt not die.

³ And the angel of the LORD appeared to the woman, and said to her, Behold, now, thou art barren, and bearest not: but thou shalt conceive, and bear a son. ⁴ Now therefore beware, I pray thee, and drink not wine, nor strong drink, and eat not any unclean thing: ⁵ For lo, thou shalt conceive, and bear a son; and no razor shall come on his head: for the child shall be a Nazarite to God from his birth: and he shall begin to deliver Israel from the hand of the Philistines.

²⁰ Wherefore it came to pass, when the time had arrived, after Hannah had conceived, that she bore a son, and called his name Samuel, saying, Because I have asked him of the LORD. ²¹ And the man Elkanah, and all his house, went up to offer to the LORD the yearly sacrifice, and his vow. ²² But Hannah went not up; for she said to her husband, I will not go up until the child is weaned, and then I will bring him, that he may appear before the LORD, and there abide for ever. ²³ And Elkanah her husband said to her, Do what seemeth to thee good; tarry until thou hast weaned him; only the LORD establish his word. So the woman abode, and nursed her son until she weaned him.

²¹ And the LORD visited Hannah, so that she conceived, and bore three sons and two daughters. And the child Samuel grew before the LORD.

¹⁶ And he said, About this season, according to the time of life, thou shalt embrace a son. And she said, No, my lord, thou man of God, do not lie to thy handmaid. ¹⁷ And the woman conceived, and bore a son at that season that Elisha had said to her, according to the time of life.

⁹ He maketh the barren woman to keep house, and to be a joyful mother of children. Praise ye the LORD.

²¹ I will praise thee: for thou hast heard me, and art become my salvation.

³ Lo, children are a heritage of the LORD: and the fruit of the womb is his reward. ⁴ As arrows are in the hand of a mighty man: so are children of the youth. ⁵ Happy is the man that hath his quiver full of them: they shall not be ashamed, but they shall speak with the enemies in the gate.

³ And I went to the prophetess; and she conceived, and bore a son. Then said the LORD to me, Call his name Maher-shalal-hash-baz.

¹² Then said he to me, Fear not, Daniel: for from the first day that thou didst set thy heart to understand, and to chasten thyself before thy God, thy words were heard, and I am come for thy words.

⁴ And the LORD said to him, Call his name Jezreel; for yet a little while, and I will avenge the blood of Jezreel upon the house of Jehu, and will cause to cease the kingdom of the house of Israel.

⁶ And she conceived again, and bore a daughter. And God said to him, Call her name Lo-ruhamah: for I will no more have mercy upon the house of Israel; but I will utterly take them away.

⁹ Then said God, Call his name Lo-ammi: for ye are not my people, and I will not be your God. ¹⁰ Yet the number of the children of Israel shall be as the sand of the sea, which cannot be measured nor numbered; and it shall come to pass, that in the place where it was said to them, Ye are not my people, there it shall be said to them, Ye are the sons of the living God.

²¹ And she shall bring forth a son, and thou shalt call his name JESUS: for he shall save his people from their sins.

²⁷ But immediately Jesus spoke to them, saying, Be of good cheer; it is I; be not afraid.

⁵ And the angel answered and said to the women, Fear ye not: for I know that ye seek Jesus, who was crucified.

⁶ And he saith to them, Be not frightened: ye seek Jesus of Nazareth, who was crucified: he is risen; he is not here: behold the place where they laid him:

³⁰ And the angel said to her, Fear not, Mary: for thou hast found favor with God.

⁶⁰ And his mother answered and said, Not so; but he shall be called John. ⁶¹ And they said to her, There is none of thy kindred that is called by this name. ⁶² And they made signs to his father, how he would have him called. ⁶³ And he asked for a writing-table, and wrote, saying, His name is John. And they all wondered.

²¹ And when eight days were accomplished for the circumcising of the child, his name was called JESUS, who was so named by the angel before he was conceived in the womb.

³⁶ And as they were thus speaking, Jesus himself stood in the midst of them, and saith to them, Peace be to you. ³⁷ But they were terrified and affrighted, and supposed that they had seen a spirit. ³⁸ And he said to them, Why are ye troubled? and why do thoughts arise in your hearts? ³⁹ Behold my hands and my feet, that it is I myself: handle me, and see; for a spirit hath not flesh and bones, as ye see me have. ⁴⁰ And when he had thus spoken, he showed them his hands and his feet.

³¹ And said, Cornelius, thy prayer is heard, and thy alms are had in remembrance in the sight of God.

⁶ And Sarah said, God hath made me to laugh, so that all that hear will laugh with me.

²⁰ A wise son maketh a glad father: but a foolish man despiseth his mother.

¹⁵ My son, if thy heart be wise, my heart shall rejoice, even mine.

²⁴ The father of the righteous shall greatly rejoice: and he that begetteth a wise child shall have joy of him.

⁵⁸ And her neighbors and her cousins heard that the Lord had shown great mercy upon her; and they rejoiced with her.

² And I will make of thee a great nation, and I will bless thee, and make thy name great; and thou shalt be a blessing:

¹⁹ And his father refused, and said, I know it, my son, I know it; he also shall become a people, and he also shall be great; but truly his younger brother shall be greater than he, and his seed shall become a multitude of nations.

² Speak to the children of Israel, and say to them, When either man or woman shall separate themselves to vow a vow of a Nazarite, to separate themselves to the LORD. ³ He shall separate himself from wine and strong drink, and shall drink no vinegar of wine, or vinegar of strong drink, neither shall he drink any liquor of grapes, nor eat moist grapes, or dried. ⁴ All the days of his separation shall he eat nothing that is made of the vine-tree, from the kernels even to the husk.

⁴ Now therefore beware, I pray thee, and drink not wine, nor strong drink, and eat not any unclean thing: ⁵ For lo, thou shalt conceive, and bear a son; and no razor shall come on his head: for the child shall be a Nazarite to God from his birth: and he shall begin to deliver Israel from the hand of the Philistines. ⁶ Then the woman came and told her husband, saying, A man of God came to me, and his countenance was like the countenance of an angel of God, very terrible: but I asked him not whence he was, neither did he tell me his name:

⁸ And I have been with thee whithersoever thou hast walked, and have cut off all thy enemies from before thee, and have made thee a name like the name of the great men that are in the earth.

¹² Both riches and honor come from thee, and thou reignest over all; and in thy hand is power and might; and in thy hand it is to make great, and to give strength to all.

⁹ (22:8)He trusted on the LORD that he would deliver him: let him deliver him, seeing he delighted in him.

⁵ Before I formed thee in embryo I knew thee; and before thou wast born I sanctified thee, and I ordained thee a prophet to the nations.

¹⁵ The LORD of hosts will defend them; and they shall devour, and subdue with sling-stones; and they shall drink, and make a noise as through wine; and they shall be filled like bowls, and as the corners of the altar.

⁹ But what went ye out to see? A prophet? yes, I say to you, and more than a prophet. ¹⁰ For this is he concerning whom it is written, Behold, I send my messenger before thy face, who shall prepare thy way before thee. ¹¹ Verily, I say to you, among them that are born of women, there hath not risen a greater than John the Baptist: notwithstanding, he that is least in the kingdom of heaven, is greater than he. ¹² And from the days of John the Baptist, until now, the kingdom of heaven suffereth violence, and the violent take it by force. ¹³ For all the prophets and the law prophesied until John. ¹⁴ And if ye will receive it, this is Elijah who was to come. ¹⁵ He that hath ears to hear, let him hear. ¹⁶ But to what shall I liken this generation? It is like to children sitting in the markets, and calling to their fellows, ¹⁷ And saying, We have piped to you, and ye have not danced; We have mourned to you, and ye have not lamented. ¹⁸ For John came neither eating nor drinking, and they say, He hath a demon. ¹⁹ The Son of man came eating and drinking, and they say, Behold, a man gluttonous, and a wine-bibber, a friend of publicans and sinners. But wisdom is justified by her children.

²⁸ For I say to you, Among those that are born of women, there is not a greater prophet than John the Baptist: but he that is least in the kingdom of God, is greater than he.

³³ For John the Baptist came neither eating bread, nor drinking wine; and ye say, He hath a demon.

³⁵ He was a burning and a shining light: and ye were willing for a season to rejoice in his light.

⁴ And they were all filled with the Holy Spirit, and began to speak in other languages, as the Spirit gave them utterance.

¹⁴ But Peter standing up with the eleven, lifted up his voice, and said to them, Ye men of Judea, and all ye that dwell at Jerusalem, be this known to you, and hearken to my words: ¹⁵ For these are not drunken, as ye suppose, seeing it is but the third hour of the day. ¹⁶ But this is that which was spoken by the prophet Joel, ¹⁷ And it shall come to pass in the last days, saith God, I will pour out of my Spirit upon all flesh: and your sons and your daughters shall prophesy, and your young men shall see visions, and your old men shall dream dreams: ¹⁸ And on my servants, and on my hand-maidens I will, in those days, pour out of my Spirit; and they shall prophesy:

¹⁵ But when it pleased God, who separated me from my mother's womb, and called me by his grace,

¹⁸ And be not drunk with wine, in which is excess; but be filled with the Spirit;

³ The voice of him that crieth in the wilderness, Prepare ye the way of the LORD, make straight in the desert a highway for our God. ⁴ Every valley shall be exalted, and every mountain and hill shall be made low: and the crooked shall be made straight, and the rough places plain. ⁵ And the glory of the LORD shall be revealed, and all flesh together shall see it: for the mouth of the LORD hath spoken it.

⁶ And he said, It is a light thing that thou shouldst be my servant to raise up the tribes of Jacob, and to restore the preserved of Israel: I will also give thee for a light to the Gentiles, that thou mayest be my salvation to the end of the earth.

³ And they that are wise shall shine as the brightness of the firmament; and they that turn many to righteousness as the stars for ever and ever.

¹ Behold, I will send my messenger, and he shall prepare the way before me: and the Lord, whom ye seek, will suddenly come to his temple, even the messenger of the covenant, whom ye delight in: behold, he will come, saith the LORD of hosts.

¹ In those days came John the Baptist, preaching in the wilderness of Judea, ² And saying, Repent ye: for the kingdom of heaven is at hand. ³ For this is he that was spoken of by the prophet Isaiah, saying, The voice of one crying in the wilderness, Prepare ye the way of the Lord, make his paths straight. ⁴ And the same John had his raiment of camel's hair, and a leathern girdle about his loins; and his food was locusts and wild honey. ⁵ Then went out to him Jerusalem, and all Judea, and all the region about Jordan, ⁶ And were baptized by him in Jordan, confessing their sins.

³² For John came to you in the way of righteousness, and ye believed him not: but the publicans and the harlots believed him: and ye, when ye had seen it, repented not afterward, that ye might believe him.

⁷⁶ And thou, child, shalt be called the prophet of the Highest, for thou shalt go before the face of the Lord to prepare his ways;

⁵ And Samuel said, Gather all Israel to Mizpeh, and I will pray for you to the LORD.

¹ And Elijah the Tishbite who was of the inhabitants of Gilead, said to Ahab, As the LORD God of Israel liveth, before whom I stand, there shall not be dew nor rain these years, but according to my word.

¹⁸ And he answered, I have not troubled Israel; but thou, and thy father's house, in that ye have forsaken the commandments of the LORD, and thou hast followed Baalim.

²⁰ And Ahab said to Elijah, Hast thou found me, O my enemy? And he answered, I have found thee: because thou hast sold thyself to work evil in the sight of the LORD.

⁴ Now therefore thus saith the LORD, Thou shalt not come down from that bed on which thou art gone up, but shalt surely die. And Elijah departed. ⁵ And when the messengers turned back to him, he said to them, Why have ye now returned? ⁶ And they said to him, There came up a man to meet us, and said to us, Go, turn again to the king that sent you, and say to him, Thus saith the LORD, Is it not because there is not a God in Israel, that thou sendest to inquire of Baal-zebub the god of Ekron? therefore thou shalt not come down from that bed on which thou art gone up, but shalt surely die.

¹⁶ And he said to him, Thus saith the LORD, Forasmuch as thou hast sent messengers to inquire of Baal-zebub the god of Ekron, is it not because there is no God in Israel to inquire of his word? therefore thou shalt not come down off that bed on which thou art gone up, but shalt surely die.

¹⁸ O LORD God of Abraham, Isaac, and of Israel, our fathers, keep this for ever in the imagination of the thoughts of the heart of thy people, and prepare their heart to thee:

³⁶ And Hezekiah rejoiced, and all the people, that God had prepared the people: for the thing was done suddenly.

¹⁷ LORD, thou hast heard the desire of the humble: thou wilt prepare their heart, thou wilt cause thy ear to hear:

⁸ And might not be as their fathers, a stubborn and rebellious generation; a generation that set not their heart aright, and whose spirit was not steadfast with God.

¹⁰ The fear of the LORD is the beginning of wisdom: a good understanding have all they that do his commandments: his praise endureth for ever.

²⁴ They also that erred in spirit shall come to understanding, and they that murmured shall learn doctrine.

¹² Therefore thus will I do to thee, O Israel: and because I will do this to thee, prepare to meet thy God, O Israel.

⁵ Behold, I will send you Elijah the prophet before the coming of the great and dreadful day of the LORD: ⁶ And he shall turn the heart of the fathers to the children, and the heart of the children to their fathers, lest I come and smite the earth with a curse.

⁴ And the same John had his raiment of camel's hair, and a leathern girdle about his loins; and his food was locusts and wild honey.

⁷ But when he saw many of the Pharisees and Sadducees come to his baptism, he said to them, O generation of vipers, who hath warned you to flee from the wrath to come? ⁸ Bring forth therefore fruits meet for repentance: ⁹ And think not to say within yourselves, We have Abraham for our father: for I say to you, that God is able of these stones to raise up children to Abraham. ¹⁰ And now also the ax is laid to the root of the trees: therefore every tree which bringeth not forth good fruit is hewn down, and cast into the fire. ¹¹ I indeed baptize you with water to repentance: but he that cometh after me is mightier than I, whose shoes I am not worthy to bear: he shall baptize you with the Holy Spirit, and with fire: ¹² Whose fan is in his hand, and he will thoroughly cleanse his floor, and gather his wheat into the granary; but he will burn the chaff with unquenchable fire.

¹⁴ And if ye will receive it, this is Elijah who was to come.

⁴ For John had said to him, It is not lawful for thee to have her.

¹¹ And Jesus answered and said to them, Elijah truly will first come, and restore all things: ¹² But I say to you, that Elijah is come already, and they knew him not, but have done to him whatever they pleased: likewise will also the Son of man suffer by them.

²⁹ He answered and said, I will not; but afterward he repented, and went. ³⁰ And he came to the second, and said likewise. And he answered and said, I go, sir: and went not. ³¹ Which of the two did the will of his father? They say to him, The first. Jesus saith to them, Verily I say to you, that the publicans and the harlots go into the kingdom of God before you. ³² For John came to you in the way of righteousness, and ye believed him not: but the publicans and the harlots believed him: and ye, when ye had seen it, repented not afterward, that ye might believe him.

¹¹ And they asked him, saying, Why say the scribes that Elijah must first come? ¹² And he answered and told them, Elijah verily cometh first, and restoreth all things; and how it is written concerning the Son of man, that he must suffer many things, and be set at naught. ¹³ But I say to you, that Elijah is indeed come, and they have done to him whatever they pleased, as it is written concerning him.

¹⁶ And many of the children of Israel shall he turn to the Lord their God.

⁷ Then said he to the multitude that came forth to be baptized by him, O generation of vipers, who hath warned you to flee from the wrath to come? ⁸ Bring forth therefore fruits worthy of repentance, and begin not to say within yourselves, We have Abraham for our father: for I say to you, that God is able of these stones to raise up children to Abraham. ⁹ And now also the ax is laid to the root of the trees: every tree therefore which bringeth not forth good fruit, is hewn down, and cast into the fire. ¹⁰ And the people asked him, saying, What shall we do then? ¹¹ He answereth and saith to them, He that hath two coats, let him impart to him that hath none; and he that hath provisions, let him do likewise. ¹² Then came also publicans to be baptized, and said to him, Master, what shall we do? ¹³ And he said to them, Exact no more than that which is appointed you. ¹⁴ And the soldiers likewise asked him, saying, And what shall we do? And he said to them, Do violence to no man, neither accuse any falsely, and be content with your wages.

¹³ Who were born, not of blood, nor of the will of the flesh, nor of the will of man, but of God.

²¹ And they asked him, What then? Art thou Elijah? and he saith, I am not. Art thou that prophet? And he answered, No. ²² Then said they to him, Who art thou? that we may give an answer to them that sent us. What sayest thou of thyself? ²³ He said, I am the voice of one crying in the wilderness, Make straight the way of the Lord, as said the prophet Isaiah. ²⁴ And they who were sent were of the Pharisees. ²⁵ And they asked him, and said to him, Why baptizest thou then, if thou art not that Christ, nor Elijah, neither that prophet? ²⁶ John answered them, saying, I baptize with water: but there standeth one among you, whom ye know not; ²⁷ He it is, who coming after me, is preferred before me, whose shoes' latchet I am not worthy to unloose. ²⁸ These things were done in Bethabara beyond Jordan, where John was baptizing. ²⁹ The next day John seeth Jesus coming to him, and saith, Behold the Lamb of God, who taketh away the sin of the world. ³⁰ This is he of whom I said, after me cometh a man who is preferred before me; for he was before me.

³⁴ And I saw and bore testimony, that this is the Son of God.

²⁸ Ye yourselves bear me testimony, that I said I am not the Christ, but that I am sent before him.

³³ Immediately therefore I sent to thee; and thou hast well done that thou hast come. Now therefore we are all here present before God, to hear all things that are commanded thee from God.

²³ And that he might make known the riches of his glory on the vessels of mercy, which he had before prepared for glory,

⁹ Know ye not that the unrighteous shall not inherit the kingdom of God? Be not deceived; neither fornicators, nor idolaters, nor adulterers, nor effeminate, nor abusers of themselves with mankind, ¹⁰ Nor thieves, nor covetous, nor drunkards, nor revilers, nor extortioners, shall inherit the kingdom of God. ¹¹ And such were some of you: but ye are washed, but ye are sanctified, but ye are justified in the name of the Lord Jesus, and by the Spirit of our God.

¹² Giving thanks to the Father, who hath made us meet to be partakers of the inheritance of the saints in light:

²¹ If a man therefore will cleanse himself from these, he will be a vessel to honor, sanctified and meet for the master's use, and prepared to every good work.

⁹ But ye are a chosen generation, a royal priesthood, a holy nation, a peculiar people; that ye should show forth the praises of him who hath called you out of darkness into his marvelous light:

¹¹ Seeing then that all these things will be dissolved, what manner of persons ought ye to be in all holy deportment and godliness, ¹² Looking for and hasting to the coming of the day of God, in which the heavens being on fire will be dissolved, and the elements will melt with fervent heat? ¹³ Nevertheless we, according to his promise, look for new heavens and a new earth, in which dwelleth righteousness. ¹⁴ Wherefore, beloved, seeing that ye look for such things, be diligent that ye may be found by him in peace, without spot, and blameless.

²⁸ And now, little children, abide in him; that when he shall appear, we may have confidence, and not be ashamed before him at his coming.

⁴ And I saw thrones, and they sat upon them, and judgment was given to them: and I saw the souls of them that were beheaded for the testimony of Jesus, and for the word of God, and who had not worshiped the beast, neither his image, neither had received his mark upon their foreheads, or in their hands; and they lived and reigned with Christ a thousand years.

⁸ And he said, Lord GOD, by what shall I know that I shall inherit it?

¹² Therefore Sarah laughed within herself, saying, After I am become old shall I have pleasure, my lord being old also?

²¹ And Moses said, The people among whom I am, are six hundred thousand footmen; and thou hast said, I will give them flesh, that they may eat a whole month. ²² Shall the flocks and the herds be slain for them, to suffice for them? or shall all the fish of the sea be gathered for them, to suffice for them? ²³ And the LORD said to Moses, Is the LORD'S hand shortened? thou shalt see now whether my word shall come to pass to thee, or not.

³⁶ And Gideon said to God, If thou wilt save Israel by my hand, as thou hast said, ³⁷ Behold, I will put a fleece of wool on the floor; and if the dew shall be on the fleece only, and it shall be dry upon all the earth besides, then shall I know that thou wilt save Israel by my hand, as thou hast said. ³⁸ And it was so: for he rose early on the morrow, and pressed the fleece, and wrung the dew out of the fleece, a bowl-full of water. ³⁹ And Gideon said to God, Let not thy anger be hot against me, and I will speak but this once: Let me make trial, I pray thee, but this once with the fleece; let it now be dry only upon the fleece, and upon all the ground let there be dew. ⁴⁰ And God did so that night: for it was dry upon the fleece only, and there was dew on all the ground.

² Then a lord on whose hand the king leaned answered the man of God, and said, Behold, if the LORD would make windows in heaven, might this thing be? And he said, Behold, thou shalt see it with thy eyes, but shalt not eat of it.

²² Hezekiah also had said, What is the sign that I shall go up to the house of the LORD?

⁷ And they had no child, because Elisabeth was barren, and they both were far advanced in years.

³⁴ Then said Mary to the angel, How shall this be, seeing I know not a man?

¹⁶ And I heard a man's voice between the banks of Ulai, which called, and said, Gabriel, make this man to understand the vision.

²¹ Yes, while I was speaking in prayer, even the man Gabriel, whom I had seen in the vision at the beginning, being caused to fly swiftly, touched me about the time of the evening oblation. ²² And he informed me, and talked with me, and said, O Daniel, I am now come forth to give thee skill and understanding. ²³ At the beginning of thy supplications the commandment came forth, and I am come to show thee; for thou art greatly beloved: therefore understand the matter, and consider the vision.

¹⁰ Take heed that ye despise not one of these little ones: for I say to you, that in heaven their angels do always behold the face of my Father who is in heaven.

²⁶ And in the sixth month, the angel Gabriel was sent from God to a city of Galilee, named Nazareth,

¹⁰ And he said, I will certainly return to thee according to the time of life; and lo, Sarah thy wife shall have a son. And Sarah heard it in the tent door, which was behind him. ¹¹ Now Abraham and Sarah were old and far advanced in age; and it ceased to be with Sarah after the manner of women. ¹² Therefore Sarah laughed within herself, saying, After I am become old shall I have pleasure, my lord being old also? ¹³ And the LORD said to Abraham, Why did Sarah laugh, saying, Shall I certainly bear a child, who am old? ¹⁴ Is any thing too hard for the LORD? At the time appointed I will return to thee, according to the time of life, and Sarah shall have a son. ¹⁵ Then Sarah denied, saying, I laughed not; for she was afraid. And he said, Nay; but thou didst laugh.

¹¹ And the LORD said to him, Who hath made man's mouth? or who maketh the dumb, or deaf, or the seeing, or the blind? have not I the LORD.

¹² And the LORD spoke to Moses and Aaron, Because ye believed me not, to sanctify me in the eyes of the children of Israel, therefore ye shall not bring this congregation into the land which I have given them.

¹⁹ And that lord answered the man of God, and said, Now, behold, if the LORD should make windows in heaven, might such a thing be? And he said, Behold, thou shalt see it with thy eyes, but shalt not eat of it.

⁹ And the head of Ephraim is Samaria, and the head of Samaria is Remaliah's son. If ye will not believe, surely ye shall not be established.

²⁶ And I will make thy tongue cleave to the roof of thy mouth, that thou shalt be dumb, and shalt not be to them a reprover: for they are a rebellious house.

²⁷ In that day shall thy mouth be opened to him who hath escaped, and thou shalt speak, and be no more dumb: and thou shalt be a sign to them; and they shall know that I am the LORD.

¹⁹ He answered him, and saith, O faithless generation, how long shall I be with you, how long shall I suffer you? bring him to me.

¹⁴ Afterward he appeared to the eleven, as they sat at table, and upbraided them with their unbelief, and hardness of heart, because they believed not them who had seen him after he was risen.

²² And when he came out, he could not speak to them: and they perceived that he had seen a vision in the temple; for he beckoned to them, and remained speechless.

⁴⁵ And blessed is she that believed that there will be a performance of those things which were told her from the Lord.

³ For what if some did not believe? will their unbelief make the faith of God without effect?

¹³ If we believe not, yet he abideth faithful: he cannot deny himself.

² In hope of eternal life, which God, who cannot lie, promised before the world began;

¹⁸ That by two immutable things, in which it was impossible for God to lie, we might have a strong consolation, who have fled for refuge to lay hold upon the hope set before us:

¹⁹ As many as I love, I rebuke and chasten: be zealous therefore, and repent.

²³ Speak to Aaron and to his sons, saying, On this wise ye shall bless the children of Israel, saying to them, ²⁴ The LORD bless thee, and keep thee: ²⁵ The LORD make his face to shine upon thee, and be gracious to thee: ²⁶ The LORD lift up his countenance upon thee, and give thee peace. ²⁷ And they shall put my name upon the children of Israel, and I will bless them.

⁶² And they made signs to his father, how he would have him called.

²⁴ Simon Peter therefore beckoned to him, to ask who it should be of whom he spoke.

¹⁷ But he beckoning to them with the hand to hold their peace, declared to them how the Lord had brought him out of the prison. And he said, Go, show these things to James, and to the brethren. And he departed, and went into another place.

³³ And they drew Alexander out of the multitude, the Jews putting him forward. And Alexander beckoned with the hand, and would have made his defense to the people.

⁴⁰ And when he had given him license, Paul stood on the stairs, and beckoned with the hand to the people. And when there was made entire silence, he spoke to them in the Hebrew language, saying,

⁵ And he commanded them, saying, This is the thing that ye shall do; A third part of you that enter in on the sabbath shall even be keepers of the watch of the king's house; ⁶ And a third part shall be at the gate of Sur; and a third part at the gate behind the guard: so shall ye keep the watch of the house, that it be not broken down. ⁷ And two parts of all you that go forth on the sabbath, even they shall keep the watch of the house of the LORD about the king.

²⁵ And their brethren, who were in their villages, were to come after seven days from time to time with them.

¹ And the LORD visited Sarah as he had said, and the LORD did to Sarah as he had spoken. ² For Sarah conceived and bore Abraham a son in his old age, at the set time of which God had spoken to him.

²² And God remembered Rachel, and God hearkened to her, and rendered her fruitful. ²³ And she conceived, and bore a son; and said, God hath taken away my reproach:

⁶ And her adversary also provoked her greatly, to make her fret, because the LORD had made her barren.

¹⁹ And they rose in the morning early, and worshiped before the LORD, and returned, and came to their house to Ramah: and Elkanah knew Hannah his wife; and the LORD remembered her. ²⁰ Wherefore it came to pass, when the time had arrived, after Hannah had conceived, that she bore a son, and called his name Samuel, saying, Because I have asked him of the LORD.

²¹ And the LORD visited Hannah, so that she conceived, and bore three sons and two daughters. And the child Samuel grew before the LORD. ²² Now Eli was very old, and heard all that his sons did to all Israel; and how they lay with the women that assembled at the door of the tabernacle of the congregation.

¹ And in that day seven women shall take hold of one man, saying, We will eat our own bread, and wear our own apparel: only let us be called by thy name, to take away our reproach.

¹ Sing, O barren, thou that didst not bear; break forth into singing, and cry aloud, thou that didst not travail with child: for more are the children of the desolate than the children of the married wife, saith the LORD. ² Enlarge the place of thy tent, and let them extend the curtains of thy habitations: spare not, lengthen thy cords, and strengthen thy stakes; ³ For thou shalt break forth on the right hand and on the left; and thy seed shall inherit the Gentiles, and make the desolate cities to be inhabited. ⁴ Fear not; for thou shalt not be ashamed: neither be thou confounded; for thou shalt not be put to shame; for thou shalt forget the shame of thy youth, and shalt not remember the reproach of thy widowhood any more.

¹³ But the angel said to him, Fear not, Zacharias: for thy prayer is heard; and thy wife Elisabeth shall bear thee a son, and thou shalt call his name John.

²³ And he came and dwelt in a city called Nazareth: that it might be fulfilled which was spoken by the prophets, He shall be called a Nazarene.

⁴ And Joseph also went up from Galilee, out of the city of Nazareth, into Judea, to the city of David, which is called Bethlehem; (because he was of the house and lineage of David)

⁴⁵ Philip findeth Nathanael, and saith to him, We have found him described by Moses in the law, and by the prophets, Jesus of Nazareth, the son of Joseph. ⁴⁶ And Nathanael said to him, Can there any good thing come out of Nazareth? Philip saith to him, Come and see.

⁴¹ Others said, This is the Christ. But some said, Will Christ come out of Galilee?

¹⁵ And I will put enmity between thee and the woman, and between thy seed and her seed: it shall bruise thy head, and thou shalt bruise his heel.

¹⁴ Therefore the Lord himself will give you a sign; Behold, a virgin shall conceive, and bear a son, and shall call his name Immanuel.

²² How long wilt thou wander about, O thou backsliding daughter? for the LORD hath created a new thing in the earth, A woman shall compass a man.

¹⁶ And Jacob begat Joseph the husband of Mary, of whom was born Jesus, who is called Christ.

¹⁸ Now the birth of Jesus Christ was in this manner: When his mother Mary was espoused to Joseph, before they came together, she was found with child by the Holy Spirit.

²⁰ But while he thought on these things, the angel of the Lord appeared to him in a dream, saying, Joseph, thou son of David, fear not to take to thee Mary thy wife: for that which is conceived in her is by the Holy Spirit. ²¹ And she shall bring forth a son, and thou shalt call his name JESUS: for he shall save his people from their sins.

²³ Behold, a virgin shall be with child, and shall bring forth a son, and they shall call his name Emmanuel, which being interpreted is, God with us.

⁴ And Joseph also went up from Galilee, out of the city of Nazareth, into Judea, to the city of David, which is called Bethlehem; (because he was of the house and lineage of David) ⁵ To be taxed with Mary his espoused wife, being great with child.

²⁴ Blessed above women shall Jael the wife of Heber the Kenite be, blessed shall she be above women in the tent.

¹² And the angel of the LORD appeared to him, and said to him, The LORD is with thee, thou mighty man of valor.

²⁹ Many daughters have done virtuously, but thou excellest them all. ³⁰ Favor is deceitful, and beauty is vain: but a woman that feareth the LORD, she shall be praised. ³¹ Give her of the fruit of her hands; and let her own works praise her in the gates.

⁵ Fear not: for I am with thee: I will bring thy seed from the east, and gather thee from the west;

¹⁸ For behold, I have made thee this day a fortified city, and an iron pillar, and brazen walls against the whole land, against the kings of Judah, against her princes, against her priests, and against the people of the land. ¹⁹ And they shall fight against thee; but they shall not prevail against thee; for I am with thee, saith the LORD, to deliver thee.

¹⁹ (10:20)Then said he, Knowest thou for what cause I come to thee? and now will I return to fight with the prince of Persia: and when I am gone forth, lo, the prince of Grecia shall come.

² (14:1)O Israel, return to the LORD thy God; for thou hast fallen by thy iniquity.

⁴⁸ But he answered and said to him that told him, Who is my mother? and who are my brethren?

⁴² And she spoke with a loud voice, and said, Blessed art thou among women, and blessed is the fruit of thy womb.

²⁷ And it came to pass, as he was speaking these things, a certain woman of the company lifted up her voice, and said to him, Blessed is the womb that bore thee, and the paps which nourished thee. ²⁸ But he said, Yes, rather blessed are they that hear the word of God, and keep it.

¹⁰ For I am with thee, and no man shall lay hands on thee, to hurt thee: for I have many people in this city.

⁶ To the praise of the glory of his grace, in which he hath made us accepted in the beloved:

¹³ And Gideon said to him, O my Lord, if the LORD is with us, why then hath all this befallen us? and where are all his miracles which our fathers told us of, saying, Did not the LORD bring us up from Egypt? but now the LORD hath forsaken us, and delivered us into the hands of the Midianites. ¹⁴ And the LORD looked upon him, and said, Go in this thy might, and thou shalt save Israel from the hand of the Midianites: have not I sent thee? ¹⁵ And he said to him, O my Lord, by what means shall I save Israel? behold, my family is poor in Manasseh, and I am the least in my father's house.

²⁰ And as for thy asses that were lost three days ago, set not thy mind on them; for they are found. And on whom is all the desire of Israel? Is it not on thee, and on all thy father's house? ²¹ And Saul answered and said, Am not I a Benjaminite, of the smallest of the tribes of Israel? and my family the least of all the families of the tribe of Benjamin? Why then speakest thou so to me?

⁴⁹ But when they saw him walking upon the sea, they supposed it had been a spirit, and cried out. ⁵⁰ (For they all saw him, and were troubled.) And immediately he talked with them, and saith to them, Be of good cheer: It is I; be not afraid.

⁵ And entering into the sepulcher, they saw a young man sitting on the right side, clothed in a long white garment; and they were frightened. ⁶ And he saith to them, Be not frightened: ye seek Jesus of Nazareth, who was crucified: he is risen; he is not here: behold the place where they laid him:

¹² And when Zacharias saw him, he was troubled, and fear fell upon him.

⁶⁶ And all they that had heard them, laid them up in their hearts, saying, What manner of child will this be! And the hand of the Lord was with him.

¹⁹ But Mary kept all these things, and pondered them in her heart.

⁵¹ And he went down with them, and came to Nazareth, and was subject to them: but his mother kept all these sayings in her heart.

¹⁷ Now while Peter doubted in himself what this vision which he had seen should mean, behold, the men who were sent from Cornelius had made inquiry for Simon's house, and were standing before the gate,

¹⁰ Fear thou not; for I am with thee: be not dismayed; for I am thy God: I will strengthen thee; yes, I will help thee; yes, I will uphold thee with the right hand of my righteousness.

¹⁴ Fear not, thou worm Jacob, and ye men of Israel; I will help thee, saith the LORD, and thy Redeemer, the Holy One of Israel.

¹ But now thus saith the LORD that created thee, O Jacob, and he that formed thee, O Israel, Fear not: for I have redeemed thee, I have called thee by thy name; thou art mine. ² When thou passest through the waters, I will be with thee; and through the rivers, they shall not overflow thee: when thou walkest through the fire, thou shalt not be burned; neither shall the flame kindle upon thee. ³ For I am the LORD thy God, the Holy One of Israel, thy Savior: I gave Egypt for thy ransom, Cush and Seba for thee. ⁴ Since thou hast been precious in my sight, thou hast been honorable, and I have loved thee: therefore will I give men for thee, and people for thy life.

² Thus saith the LORD that made thee, and formed thee from the womb, who will help thee: Fear not, O Jacob, my servant; and thou, Jesurun, whom I have chosen.

³² Fear not, little flock; for it is your Father's good pleasure to give you the kingdom.

⁹ Then the Lord spoke to Paul in the night by a vision, Be not afraid, but speak, and hold not thy peace: ¹⁰ For I am with thee, and no man shall lay hands on thee, to hurt thee: for I have many people in this city.

²⁴ Saying, Fear not, Paul; thou must be brought before Cesar: and lo, God hath given thee all them that sail with thee.

³¹ What shall we then say to these things? If God is for us, who can be against us?

⁶ So that we may boldly say, The Lord is my helper, and I will not fear what man shall do to me.

²⁵ And knew her not till she had brought forth her first-born son: and he called his name JESUS.

²⁷ To a virgin espoused to a man whose name was Joseph, of the house of David; and the virgin's name was Mary.

⁴ But when the fullness of the time was come, God sent forth his Son, born of a woman, born under the law,

¹¹ And as since the time that I commanded judges to be over my people Israel, and have caused thee to rest from all thy enemies. Also the LORD telleth thee that he will make thee a house. ¹² And when thy days shall be fulfilled, and thou shalt sleep with thy fathers, I will set up thy seed after thee, which shall proceed out of thy bowels, and I will establish his kingdom. ¹³ He shall build a house for my name, and I will establish the throne of his kingdom for ever.

¹⁶ And thy house and thy kingdom shall be established for ever before thee: thy throne shall be established for ever.

¹¹ The LORD hath sworn in truth to David; he will not turn from it; Of the fruit of thy body will I set upon thy throne.

⁶ For to us a child is born, to us a son is given: and the government shall be upon his shoulder: and his name shall be called Wonderful, Counselor, The mighty God, The everlasting Father, The Prince of Peace. ⁷ Of the increase of his government and peace there shall be no end, upon the throne of David, and upon his kingdom, to order it, and to establish it with judgment and with justice from henceforth even for ever. The zeal of the LORD of hosts will perform this.

⁵ And in mercy shall the throne be established: and he shall sit upon it in truth in the tabernacle of David, judging, and seeking judgment, and hasting righteousness.

⁵ Behold, the days come, saith the LORD, that I will raise to David a righteous Branch, and a King shall reign and prosper, and shall execute judgment and justice upon the earth. ⁶ In his days Judah shall be saved, and Israel shall dwell in safety: and this is his name by which he shall be called, JEHOVAH OUR RIGHTEOUSNESS.

¹⁵ In those days, and at that time, will I cause the branch of righteousness to grow up to David; and he shall execute judgment and righteousness in the land. ¹⁶ In those days shall Judah be saved, and Jerusalem shall dwell in safety: and this is the name by which she shall be called, JEHOVAH our righteousness. ¹⁷ For thus saith the LORD; David shall never want a man to sit upon the throne of the house of Israel;

²² Thus saith the Lord GOD, I will also take of the highest branch of the high cedar, and will set it; I will crop off from the top of its young twigs a tender one, and will plant it upon a high mountain and eminent: ²³ In the mountain of the hight of Israel will I plant it: and it shall bring forth boughs, and bear fruit, and be a goodly cedar: and under it shall dwell all fowl of every wing; in the shade of its branches shall they dwell. ²⁴ And all the trees of the field shall know that I the LORD have brought down the high tree, have exalted the low tree, have dried up the green tree, and have made the dry tree to flourish: I the LORD have spoken and have done it.

²³ And I will set up one shepherd over them, and he shall feed them, even my servant David; he shall feed them, and he shall be their shepherd. ²⁴ And I the LORD will be their God, and my servant David a prince among them; I the LORD have spoken it.

²⁴ And David my servant shall be king over them; and they all shall have one shepherd: they shall also walk in my judgments, and observe my statutes, and do them. ²⁵ And they shall dwell in the land that I have given to Jacob my servant, in which your fathers have dwelt, and they shall dwell in it, even they, and their children, and their children's children for ever: and my servant David shall be their prince for ever.

¹¹ In that day will I raise up the tabernacle of David that is fallen, and close up their breaches; and I will raise up its ruins, and I will build it as in the days of old: ¹² That they may possess the remnant of Edom, and of all the heathen, who are called by my name, saith the LORD that doeth this.

¹ The book of the generation of Jesus Christ, the son of David, the son of Abraham.

¹¹ I indeed baptize you with water to repentance: but he that cometh after me is mightier than I, whose shoes I am not worthy to bear: he shall baptize you with the Holy Spirit, and with fire:

⁴² The queen of the south shall rise up in the judgment with this generation, and shall condemn it: for she came from the uttermost parts of the earth to hear the wisdom of Solomon; and behold, a greater than Solomon is here.

¹⁸ And Jesus came, and spoke to them, saying, All power is given to me in heaven and upon earth.

⁷ And cried with a loud voice, and said, What have I to do with thee, Jesus, thou Son of the Most High God? I adjure thee by God, that thou torment me not.

⁶¹ But he held his peace, and answered nothing. Again the high priest asked him, and said to him, Art thou the Christ, the Son of the Blessed?

¹⁵ For he shall be great in the sight of the Lord, and shall drink neither wine nor strong drink; and he shall be filled with the Holy Spirit, even from his mother's womb.

³⁵ And the angel answered and said to her, The Holy Spirit will come upon thee, and the power of the Highest will overshadow thee: therefore also that holy thing which shall be born of thee shall be called the Son of God.

¹⁶ John answered, saying to them all, I indeed baptize you with water; but one mightier than I cometh, the latchet of whose shoes I am not worthy to unloose: he will baptize you with the Holy Spirit, and with fire:

³⁵ But love ye your enemies, and do good, and lend, hoping for nothing again; and your reward shall be great, and ye shall be the children of the Highest: for he is kind to the unthankful and to the evil.

³⁵ The Father loveth the Son, and hath given all things into his hand. ³⁶ He that believeth on the Son, hath everlasting life: and he that believeth not the Son, shall not see life; but the wrath of God abideth on him.

²¹ For as the Father raiseth the dead, and reviveth them; even so the Son reviveth whom he will. ²² For the Father judgeth no man; but hath committed all judgment to the Son: ²³ That all men should honor the Son, even as they honor the Father. He that honoreth not the Son, honoreth not the Father who hath sent him. ²⁴ Verily, verily, I say to you, He that heareth my word, and believeth on him that sent me, hath everlasting life, and shall not come into condemnation; but hath passed from death to life. ²⁵ Verily, verily, I say to you, The hour is coming, and now is, when the dead shall hear the voice of the Son of God: and they that hear shall live. ²⁶ For as the Father hath life in himself, so hath he given to the Son to have life in himself; ²⁷ And hath given him authority to execute judgment also, because he is the Son of man. ²⁸ Marvel not at this: for the hour is coming, in which all that are in the graves shall hear his voice, ²⁹ And shall come forth; they that have done good to the resurrection of life; and they that have done evil, to the resurrection of damnation.

⁶⁹ And we believe, and are sure that thou art that Christ, the Son of the living God.

³⁴ The people answered him, We have heard out of the law that Christ abideth for ever: and how sayest thou, The Son of man must be lifted up? Who is this Son of man?

³⁰ Therefore being a prophet, and knowing that God had sworn to him with an oath, that from the fruit of his loins, according to the flesh, he would raise up Christ to sit on his throne;

³⁶ Therefore let all the house of Israel know assuredly, that God hath made that same Jesus whom ye have crucified, both Lord and Christ.

⁴⁸ Yet, the Most High dwelleth not in temples made with hands, as saith the prophet,

¹⁷ The same followed Paul and us, and cried, saying, These men are the servants of the most high God, who show to us the way of salvation.

⁴ And declared to be the Son of God, with power, according to the spirit of holiness, by the resurrection from the dead:

²⁰ Which he wrought in Christ, when he raised him from the dead, and set him at his own right hand in the heavenly places, ²¹ Far above all principality, and power, and might, and dominion, and every name that is named, not only in this world, but also in that which is to come: ²² And put all things under his feet, and gave him to be the head over all things to the church, ²³ Which is his body, the fullness of him that filleth all in all.

⁹ Wherefore God also hath highly exalted him, and given him a name which is above every name: ¹⁰ That at the name of Jesus every knee should bow, of things in heaven, and things on earth, and things under the earth; ¹¹ And that every tongue should confess that Jesus Christ is Lord, to the glory of God the Father.

² Hath in these last days spoken to us by his Son, whom he hath appointed heir of all things, by whom also he made the worlds; ³ Who being the brightness of his glory, and the express image of his person, and upholding all things by the word of his power, when he had by himself made purification of our sins, sat down on the right hand of the Majesty on high; ⁴ Being made so much better than the angels, as he hath by inheritance obtained a more excellent name than they. ⁵ For to which of the angels said he at any time, Thou art my Son, this day have I begotten thee? And again, I will be to him a Father, and he shall be to me a Son? ⁶ And again, when he bringeth in the first-begotten into the world, he saith, And let all the angels of God worship him. ⁷ And of the angels he saith, Who maketh his angels spirits, and his ministers a flame of fire. ⁸ But to the Son, he saith, Thy throne, O God, is for ever and ever: a scepter of righteousness is the scepter of thy kingdom.

⁷ And to the angel of the church in Philadelphia write; These things saith he that is holy, he that is true, he that hath the key of David, he that openeth, and no man shutteth; and shutteth, and no man openeth:

⁶ (45:5)Thy arrows are sharp in the heart of the king's enemies; by which the people fall under thee.

³⁵ (89:34)My covenant will I not break, nor alter the thing that hath gone out of my lips. ³⁶ (89:35)Once have I sworn by my holiness that I will not lie to David. ³⁷ (89:36)His seed shall endure for ever, and his throne as the sun before me.

⁴⁴ And in the days of these kings shall the God of heaven set up a kingdom, which shall never be destroyed: and the kingdom shall not be left to other people, but it shall break in pieces and consume all these kingdoms, and it shall stand for ever.

¹³ I saw in the night visions, and behold, one like the son of man came with the clouds of heaven, and came to the Ancient of days, and they brought him near before him. ¹⁴ And there was given him dominion, and glory, and a kingdom, that all people, nations, and languages, should serve him: his dominion is an everlasting dominion, which shall not pass away, and his kingdom that which shall not be destroyed.

¹⁸ But the saints of the most High shall take the kingdom, and possess the kingdom for ever, even for ever and ever.

²⁷ And the kingdom and dominion, and the greatness of the kingdom under the whole heaven, shall be given to the people of the saints of the most High, whose kingdom is an everlasting kingdom, and all dominions shall serve and obey him.

²¹ And saviors shall come upon mount Zion to judge the mount of Esau; and the kingdom shall be the LORD'S.

⁷ And I will make her that halted a remnant, and her that was cast far off a strong nation: and the LORD will reign over them in mount Zion from henceforth, even for ever.

⁶ Not as though the word of God hath taken no effect. For they are not all Israel, who are descendants from Israel?

²⁴ Then cometh the end, when he shall have delivered up the kingdom to God, even the Father; when he shall have put down all rule, and all authority, and power. ²⁵ For he must reign, till he hath put all enemies under his feet.

²⁹ And if ye are Christ's, then are ye Abraham's seed, and heirs according to the promise.

¹⁶ And as many as walk according to this rule, peace be on them, and mercy, and upon the Israel of God.

³ For we are the circumcision, who worship God in the spirit, and rejoice in Christ Jesus, and have no confidence in the flesh.

⁸ But to the Son, he saith, Thy throne, O God, is for ever and ever: a scepter of righteousness is the scepter of thy kingdom.

¹⁵ And the seventh angel sounded; and there were great voices in heaven, saying, The kingdoms of this world are become the kingdoms of our Lord, and of his Christ; and he will reign for ever and ever.

⁴ And I saw thrones, and they sat upon them, and judgment was given to them: and I saw the souls of them that were beheaded for the testimony of Jesus, and for the word of God, and who had not worshiped the beast, neither his image, neither had received his mark upon their foreheads, or in their hands; and they lived and reigned with Christ a thousand years. ⁵ But the rest of the dead lived not again until the thousand years were finished. This is the first resurrection. ⁶ Blessed and holy is he that hath part in the first resurrection: on such the second death hath no power, but they shall be priests of God and of Christ, and shall reign with him a thousand years.

³ And there shall be no more curse: but the throne of God and of the Lamb shall be in it; and his servants shall serve him: ⁴ And they shall see his face; and his name shall be in their foreheads. ⁵ And there shall be no night there; and they need no candle, neither light of the sun; for the Lord God giveth them light: and they shall reign for ever and ever.

⁸ Then Manoah entreated the LORD, and said, O my Lord, let the man of God, whom thou didst send come again to us, and teach us what we shall do to the child that shall be born. ⁹ And God hearkened to the voice of Manoah; and the angel of God came again to the woman as she sat in the field: but Manoah her husband was not with her. ¹⁰ And the woman made haste, and ran, and showed her husband, and said to him, Behold, the man hath appeared to me, that came to me the other day. ¹¹ And Manoah arose, and went after his wife, and came to the man, and said to him, Art thou the man that didst speak to the woman? And he said, I am. ¹² And Manoah said, Now let thy words come to pass. How shall we order the child, and how shall we do to him?

⁶ And he trembling and astonished said, Lord, what wilt thou have me to do? And the Lord said to him, Arise, and go into the city, and it shall be told thee what thou must do.

⁴ Who can bring a clean thing out of an unclean? not one.

¹⁶ How much more abominable and filthy is man, who drinketh iniquity like water?

⁴ How then can man be justified with God? or how can he be clean that is born of a woman?

⁷ I will declare the decree: the LORD hath said to me, Thou art my Son; this day have I begotten thee.

⁵ (51:3)For I acknowledge my transgressions: and my sin is ever before me.

²⁰ But while he thought on these things, the angel of the Lord appeared to him in a dream, saying, Joseph, thou son of David, fear not to take to thee Mary thy wife: for that which is conceived in her is by the Holy Spirit.

³ And when the tempter came to him, he said, If thou art the son of God, command that these stones be made bread.

³³ Then they that were in the boat came and worshiped him, saying, In truth thou art the son of God.

⁶³ But Jesus held his peace. And the high priest answered and said to him, I adjure thee by the living God, that thou tell us whether thou art the Christ the Son of God. ⁶⁴ Jesus saith to him, Thou hast said: nevertheless I say to you, Hereafter shall ye see the Son of man sitting on the right hand of power, and coming in the clouds of heaven.

⁵⁴ Now when the centurion, and they that were with him, watching Jesus, saw the earthquake, and those things that were done, they feared greatly, saying, Truly this was the Son of God.

²⁴ Saying, Let us alone; what have we to do with thee, thou Jesus of Nazareth? art thou come to destroy us? I know thee who thou art, the Holy One of God.

³¹ And behold, thou shalt conceive in thy womb, and bring forth a son, and shalt call his name JESUS. ³² He will be great, and will be called the Son of the Highest; and the Lord God will give to him the throne of his father David.

⁴⁹ Nathanael answered and said to him, Rabbi, thou art the Son of God; thou art the King of Israel.

³⁶ And as they went on their way, they came to a certain water: and the eunuch said, See, here is water; what doth hinder me to be baptized?

²⁰ I am crucified with Christ: nevertheless, I live; yet not I, but Christ liveth in me: and the life which I now live in the flesh, I live by the faith of the Son of God, who loved me, and gave himself for me.

³ Among whom also we all had our manner of life in times past in the lusts of our flesh, fulfilling the desires of the flesh and of the mind; and were by nature the children of wrath, even as others.

¹⁵ For we have not a high priest who cannot be touched with the feeling of our infirmities; but who was in all points tempted as we are, yet without sin.

²⁶ For such a high priest became us, who is holy, harmless, undefiled, separate from sinners, and made higher than the heavens; ²⁷ Who needeth not daily, as those high priests, to offer up sacrifice, first for his own sins, and then for the people's: for this he did once, when he offered up himself. ²⁸ For the law maketh men high priests who have infirmity; but the word of the oath, which was after the law, maketh the Son, who is consecrated for evermore.

²³ And the LORD said to Moses, Is the LORD'S hand shortened? thou shalt see now whether my word shall come to pass to thee, or not.

² What ye know, the same do I know also: I am not inferior to you.

¹⁷ Ah Lord GOD! behold, thou hast made the heaven and the earth by thy great power and out-stretched arm, and there is nothing too hard for thee:

²⁷ Behold, I am the LORD, the God of all flesh: is there any thing too hard for me?

⁶ Thus saith the LORD of hosts; If it is marvelous in the eyes of the remnant of this people in these days, should it also be marvelous in my eyes? saith the LORD of hosts.

²⁶ But Jesus beheld them, and said to them, With men this is impossible, but with God all things are possible.

²⁷ And Jesus looking upon them, saith, With men it is impossible, but not with God: for with God all things are possible.

²⁷ Then he said, The things which are impossible with men, are possible with God.

²¹ Who will change our vile body, that it may be fashioned like to his glorious body, according to the working by which he is able even to subdue all things to himself.

²⁵ And now, O LORD God, the word that thou hast spoken concerning thy servant, and concerning his house, establish it for ever, and do as thou hast said. ²⁶ And let thy name be magnified for ever, saying, The LORD of hosts is the God over Israel: and let the house of thy servant David be established before thee. ²⁷ For thou, O LORD of hosts, God of Israel, hast revealed to thy servant, saying, I will build thee a house: therefore hath thy servant found in his heart to pray this prayer to thee. ²⁸ And now, O Lord GOD, thou art that God, and thy words are true, and thou hast promised this goodness to thy servant: ²⁹ Therefore now let it please thee to bless the house of thy servant, that it may continue for ever before thee: for thou, O Lord GOD, hast spoken it: and with thy blessing let the house of thy servant be blessed for ever.

¹⁶ O LORD, truly I am thy servant; I am thy servant, the son of thy handmaid: thou hast loosed my bonds.

³⁸ Establish thy word to thy servant, who is devoted to thy fear.

²⁰ He staggered not at the promise of God through unbelief; but was strong in faith, giving glory to God; ²¹ And being fully persuaded, that what he had promised, he was able also to perform.

⁶⁵ And fear came on all that dwelt around them; and all these sayings were noised abroad throughout all the hill-country of Judea.

²² And the children struggled together within her: and she said, If it is so, why am I thus? And she went to inquire of the LORD.

¹⁰ (22:9)But thou art he that brought me forth into life: thou didst make me hope when I was upon my mother's breasts.

⁴⁴ For lo, as soon as the voice of thy salutation sounded in my ears, the babe leaped in my womb for joy.

⁶⁷ And his father Zacharias was filled with the Holy Spirit, and prophesied, saying,

¹ And Jesus being full of the Holy Spirit, returned from Jordan, and was led by the Spirit into the wilderness,

⁸ Then Peter, filled with the Holy Spirit, said to them, Ye rulers of the people, and elders of Israel,

³ Wherefore, brethren, look ye out among you seven men of honest report, full of the Holy Spirit and wisdom, whom we may appoint over this business.

⁵⁵ But he, being full of the Holy Spirit, looked up steadfastly into heaven, and saw the glory of God, and Jesus standing on the right hand of God,

¹⁰ I was in the Spirit on the Lord's day, and heard behind me a great voice, as of a trumpet,

¹⁸ And in thy seed shall all the nations of the earth be blessed: because thou hast obeyed my voice.

⁶ (21:5)His glory is great in thy salvation: honor and majesty hast thou laid upon him.

² (45:1)To the chief Musician upon Shoshannim, for the sons of Korah, Maschil, A Song of loves. My heart is inditing a good matter: I speak of the things which I have made concerning the king: my tongue is the pen of a ready writer.

¹⁷ His name shall endure for ever: his name shall be continued as long as the sun: and men shall be blessed in him: all nations shall call him blessed. ¹⁸ Blessed be the LORD God, the God of Israel, who only doeth wondrous things. ¹⁹ And blessed be his glorious name for ever: and let the whole earth be filled with his glory; Amen, and amen.

⁴⁸ For he hath regarded the low estate of his handmaiden: for behold, from henceforth all generations will call me blessed.

³⁸ Saying, Blessed be the King that cometh in the name of the Lord: Peace in heaven, and glory in the highest.

²⁶ Therefore did my heart rejoice, and my tongue was glad; moreover also, my flesh shall rest in hope: ²⁷ Because thou wilt not leave my soul in hell, neither wilt thou suffer thy Holy One to see corruption: ²⁸ Thou hast made known to me the ways of life; thou wilt make me full of joy with thy countenance.

² Looking to Jesus the author and finisher of our faith; who for the joy that was set before him endured the cross, despising the shame, and is set down at the right hand of the throne of God.

¹⁰ Then she fell on her face, and bowed herself to the ground, and said to him, Why have I found grace in thy eyes, that thou shouldst take knowledge of me, seeing I am a stranger?

⁴¹ And she arose, and bowed herself on her face to the earth, and said, Behold, let thy handmaid be a servant to wash the feet of the servants of my lord.

¹³ Ye call me Master, and Lord: and ye say well; for so I am.

²⁸ And Thomas answered and said to him, My Lord and my God.

³ Let nothing be done through strife or vain glory; but in lowliness of mind let each esteem other better than themselves.

⁸ Yes doubtless, and I count all things to be loss for the excellence of the knowledge of Christ Jesus my Lord: for whom I have suffered the loss of all things, and do count them to be dung, that I may win Christ,

²⁰ And they rose early in the morning, and went forth into the wilderness of Tekoa: and as they went forth, Jehoshaphat stood and said, Hear me, O Judah, and ye inhabitants of Jerusalem; Believe in the LORD your God, so shall ye be established; believe his prophets, so shall ye prosper.

²⁰ And behold, thou shalt be dumb, and not able to speak, until the day that these things shall be performed, because thou believest not my words which shall be fulfilled in their season.

⁴⁰ Jesus saith to her, Said I not to thee, that if thou wouldest believe, thou shouldest see the glory of God?

² (34:1)A Psalm of David, when he changed his behavior before Abimelech; who drove him away, and he departed. I will bless the LORD at all times: his praise shall continually be in my mouth. ³ (34:2)My soul shall make her boast in the LORD: the humble shall hear of it and be glad.

⁹ And my soul shall be joyful in the LORD: it shall rejoice in his salvation.

¹ A Psalm of David. Bless the LORD, O my soul: and all that is within me, bless his holy name. ² Bless the LORD, O my soul, and forget not all his benefits:

¹⁵ Wherefore glorify ye the LORD in the fires, even the name of the LORD God of Israel in the isles of the sea. ¹⁶ From the uttermost part of the earth have we heard songs, even glory to the righteous. But I said, My leanness, my leanness, woe to me! the treacherous dealers have dealt treacherously; yes, the treacherous dealers have dealt very treacherously.

²⁵ In the LORD shall all the seed of Israel be justified, and shall glory.

¹⁰ I will greatly rejoice in the LORD, my soul shall be joyful in my God; for he hath clothed me with the garments of salvation, he hath covered me with the robe of righteousness, as a bridegroom decketh himself with ornaments, and as a bride adorneth herself with her jewels.

¹⁷ Although the fig-tree shall not blossom, neither shall fruit be in the vines; the labor of the olive shall fail, and the fields shall yield no food; the flock shall be cut off from the fold, and there shall be no herd in the stalls: ¹⁸ Yet I will rejoice in the LORD, I will joy in the God of my salvation.

¹¹ And not only so, but we also joy in God, through our Lord Jesus Christ, by whom we have now received the atonement.

³¹ That, according as it is written, He that glorieth, let him glory in the Lord.

¹⁴ Now thanks be to God, who always causeth us to triumph in Christ, and maketh manifest the savor of his knowledge by us in every place.

⁴ Rejoice in the Lord always: and again I say, Rejoice.

⁸ Whom having not seen, ye love; in whom, though now ye see him not, yet believing, ye rejoice with joy unspeakable, and full of glory:

² Behold, God is my salvation; I will trust, and not be afraid: for the LORD JEHOVAH is my strength and my song; he also is become my salvation. ³ Therefore with joy shall ye draw water out of the wells of salvation.

²¹ Tell ye, and bring them near; yes, let them take counsel together: who hath declared this from ancient time? who hath told it from that time? have not I the LORD? and there is no God else besides me; a just God and a Savior; there is none besides me. ²² Look to me, and be ye saved, all the ends of the earth: for I am God, and there is none else.

¹⁸ Yet I will rejoice in the LORD, I will joy in the God of my salvation.

¹⁴ Sing, O daughter of Zion; shout, O Israel; be glad and rejoice with all the heart, O daughter of Jerusalem. ¹⁵ The LORD hath taken away thy judgments, he hath cast out thy enemy: the King of Israel, even the LORD, is in the midst of thee: thou shalt not see evil any more. ¹⁶ In that day it shall be said to Jerusalem, Fear thou not: and to Zion, Let not thy hands be slack. ¹⁷ The LORD thy God in the midst of thee is mighty; he will save, he will rejoice over thee with joy; he will rest in his love, he will joy over thee with singing.

⁹ Rejoice greatly, O daughter of Zion; shout, O daughter of Jerusalem: behold, thy King cometh to thee: he is just, and having salvation; lowly, and riding upon an ass, and upon a colt the foal of an ass.

¹ Paul, an apostle of Jesus Christ by the commandment of God our Savior, and Lord Jesus Christ, who is our hope;

³ For this is good and acceptable in the sight of God our Savior;

³ But hath in due times manifested his word through preaching, which is committed to me according to the commandment of God our Savior;

¹⁰ Not purloining, but showing all good fidelity; that they may adorn the doctrine of God our Savior in all things.

¹³ Looking for that blessed hope, and the glorious appearing of the great God, and our Savior Jesus Christ;

⁴ But when the kindness and love of God our Savior towards man appeared, ⁵ Not by works of righteousness which we have done, but according to his mercy he saved us, by the washing of regeneration, and renewing of the Holy Spirit; ⁶ Which he shed on us abundantly, through Jesus Christ our Savior;

²⁵ To God the only wise, our Savior, be glory and majesty, dominion and power, both now and ever. Amen.

¹³ And Leah said, Happy am I, for the daughters will call me blessed: and she called his name Asher.

¹¹ And she vowed a vow, and said, O LORD of hosts, if thou wilt indeed look on the affliction of thy handmaid, and remember me, and not forget thy handmaid, but wilt give to thy handmaid a male child, then I will give him to the LORD all the days of his life, and there shall no razor come upon his head.

⁸ He raiseth the poor out of the dust, and lifteth the beggar from the dunghill, to set them among princes, and to make them inherit the throne of glory: for the pillars of the earth are the LORD'S, and he hath set the world upon them.

⁸ Now therefore so shalt thou say to my servant David, thus saith the LORD of hosts, I took thee from the sheep-cote, from following the sheep, to be ruler over my people, over Israel:

¹⁸ Then king David went in, and sat before the LORD, and he said, Who am I, O Lord GOD? and what is my house, that thou hast brought me hitherto; ¹⁹ And this was yet a small thing in thy sight, O Lord GOD; but thou hast spoken also of thy servant's house for a great while to come. And is this the manner of man, O Lord GOD?

¹⁷ (102:16)When the LORD shall build up Zion, he will appear in his glory.

⁷ He raiseth the poor out of the dust, and lifteth the needy out of the dunghill; ⁸ That he may set him with princes, even with the princes of his people.

²³ Who remembered us in our low estate: for his mercy endureth for ever:

⁶ Though the LORD is high, yet hath he respect to the lowly: but the proud he knoweth afar off.

² For all these things hath my hand made, and all these things have been, saith the LORD: but to this man will I look, even to him that is poor and of a contrite spirit, and trembleth at my word.

¹² And all nations shall call you blessed: for ye shall be a delightsome land, saith the LORD of hosts.

²⁷ And it came to pass, as he was speaking these things, a certain woman of the company lifted up her voice, and said to him, Blessed is the womb that bore thee, and the paps which nourished thee.

²⁶ For ye see your calling, brethren, that not many wise men after the flesh, not many mighty, not many noble are called: ²⁷ But God hath chosen the foolish things of the world to confound the wise; and God hath chosen the weak things of the world to confound the things which are mighty; ²⁸ And base things of the world, and things which are despised, hath God chosen, and things which are not, to bring to naught things that are:

⁵ Hearken, my beloved brethren, Hath not God chosen the poor of this world rich in faith, and heirs of the kingdom which he hath promised to them that love him? ⁶ But ye have despised the poor. Do not rich men oppress you, and draw you before the judgment-seats?

¹¹ Who is like to thee, O LORD, among the gods? who is like thee, glorious in holiness, fearful in praises, doing wonders!

² There is none holy as the LORD: for there is none besides thee: neither is there any rock like our God.

⁸ Who is this King of glory? the LORD strong and mighty, the LORD mighty in battle.

¹⁹ Thy righteousness also, O God, is very high, who hast done great things: O God, who is like to thee! ²⁰ Thou, who hast shown me great and severe troubles, wilt revive me again, and wilt bring me again from the depths of the earth. ²¹ Thou wilt increase my greatness, and comfort me on every side.

³ Let them praise thy great and terrible name; for it is holy.

⁹ Exalt the LORD our God, and worship at his holy hill; for the LORD our God is holy.

⁹ He sent redemption to his people: he hath commanded his covenant for ever: holy and reverend is his name.

² Then was our mouth filled with laughter, and our tongue with singing: then said they among the heathen, The LORD hath done great things for them. ³ The LORD hath done great things for us; of which we are glad.

²⁴ Therefore saith the Lord, the LORD of hosts, the mighty One of Israel, Ah, I will ease me of my adversaries, and avenge me of my enemies:

³ And one cried to another, and said, Holy, holy, holy is the LORD of hosts: the whole earth is full of his glory.

¹⁵ For thus saith the high and lofty One that inhabiteth eternity, whose name is Holy; I dwell in the high and holy place, with him also that is of a contrite and humble spirit, to revive the spirit of the humble, and to revive the heart of the contrite ones.

¹ Who is this that cometh from Edom, with dyed garments from Bozrah? this that is glorious in his apparel, traveling in the greatness of his strength? I that speak in righteousness, mighty to save.

⁶ Forasmuch as there is none like to thee, O LORD; thou art great, and thy name is great in might.

¹¹ But the LORD is with me as a mighty terrible one: therefore my persecutors shall stumble, and they shall not prevail: they shall be greatly ashamed; for they shall not prosper: their everlasting confusion shall never be forgotten.

¹³ And forthwith Jesus gave them leave. And the unclean spirits went out, and entered into the swine: and the herd ran violently down a steep place into the sea (they were about two thousand) and were choked in the sea.

²⁰ Now to him that is able to do exceeding abundantly above all that we ask or think, according to the power that worketh in us.

⁸ And the four living beings had each of them six wings about him; and they were full of eyes within: and they rest not day and night, saying, Holy, holy, holy, Lord God Almighty, who was, and is, and is to come.

⁴ Who shall not fear thee, O Lord, and glorify thy name? for thou only art holy: for all nations shall come and worship before thee; for thy judgments are made manifest.

⁷ And I will establish my covenant between me and thee, and thy seed after thee, in their generations, for an everlasting covenant; to be a God to thee and to thy seed after thee.

⁶ And showing mercy to thousands of them that love me, and keep my commandments.

⁶ And the LORD passed by before him, and proclaimed, The LORD, The LORD God, merciful and gracious, long-suffering, and abundant in goodness and truth. ⁷ Keeping mercy for thousands, forgiving iniquity and transgression and sin, and that will by no means clear the guilty; visiting the iniquity of the fathers upon the children, and upon the children's children, to the third and to the fourth generation.

¹⁹ (31:18)Let the lying lips be put to silence; which speak grievous things proudly and contemptuously against the righteous.

⁹ (85:8)I will hear what God the LORD will speak: for he will speak peace to his people, and to his saints: but let them not turn again to folly.

¹¹ For as the heaven is high above the earth, so great is his mercy towards them that fear him.

¹⁷ But the mercy of the LORD is from everlasting to everlasting upon them that fear him, and his righteousness to children's children; ¹⁸ To such as keep his covenant, and to those that remember his commandments to do them.

¹³ He will bless them that fear the LORD, both small and great.

⁴ Let them now that fear the LORD say, that his mercy endureth for ever.

¹⁹ He will fulfill the desire of them that fear him: he also will hear their cry, and will save them.

¹¹ The LORD taketh pleasure in them that fear him, in those that hope in his mercy.

¹⁶ Then they that feared the LORD spoke often one to another: and the LORD hearkened, and heard it, and a book of remembrance was written before him for them that feared the LORD, and that thought upon his name. ¹⁷ And they shall be mine, saith the LORD of hosts, in that day when I make up my jewels; and I will spare them, as a man spareth his own son that serveth him. ¹⁸ Then shall ye return and discern between the righteous and the wicked, between him that serveth God and him that serveth him not.

⁵ And a voice came out of the throne, saying, Praise our God, all ye his servants, and ye that fear him, both small and great.

⁵ And GOD saw that the wickedness of man was great in the earth, and that every imagination of the thoughts of his heart was only evil continually.

²¹ And the LORD smelled a sweet savor; and the LORD said in his heart, I will not again curse the ground any more for man's sake; for the imagination of man's heart is evil from his youth: neither will I again smite any more every living animal as I have done.

⁶ Thy right hand, O LORD, is become glorious in power: thy right hand, O LORD, hath dashed in pieces the enemy. ⁷ And in the greatness of thy excellence thou hast overthrown them that rose up against thee: thou sentest forth thy wrath, which consumed them as stubble.

⁹ The enemy said, I will pursue, I will overtake, I will divide the spoil; my lust shall be satisfied upon them; I will draw my sword, my hand shall destroy them. ¹⁰ Thou didst blow with thy wind, the sea covered them: they sunk as lead in the mighty waters. ¹¹ Who is like to thee, O LORD, among the gods? who is like thee, glorious in holiness, fearful in praises, doing wonders! ¹² Thou stretchedst out thy right hand, the earth swallowed them. ¹³ Thou in thy mercy hast led forth the people which thou hast redeemed: thou hast guided them in thy strength to thy holy habitation.

¹¹ Now I know that the LORD is greater than all gods: for in the thing in which they dealt proudly, he was above them.

³⁴ Or hath God essayed to go and take him a nation from the midst of another nation, by temptations, by signs, and by wonders, and by war, and by a mighty hand, and by an out-stretched arm, and by great terrors, according to all that the LORD your God did for you in Egypt before your eyes?

¹⁹ And it should come to pass, when he heareth the words of this curse, that he should bless himself in his heart, saying, I shall have peace, though I walk in the imagination of my heart, to add drunkenness to thirst: ²⁰ The LORD will not spare him, but then the anger of the LORD and his jealousy shall smoke against that man, and all the curses that are written in this book shall lie upon him, and the LORD shall blot out his name from under heaven.

³ Talk no more so exceeding proudly; let not arrogance come out of your mouth: for the LORD is a God of knowledge, and by him actions are weighed. ⁴ The bows of the mighty men are broken, and they that stumbled are girded with strength.

⁹ (40:14)Then will I also confess to thee that thy own right hand can save thee. ¹⁰ (40:15)Behold now behemoth, which I made with thee; he eateth grass as an ox. ¹¹ (40:16)Lo now, his strength is in his loins, and his force is in the navel of his belly. ¹² (40:17)He moveth his tail like a cedar: the sinews of his male organs are wrapped together.

¹ Why do the heathen rage, and the people imagine a vain thing? ² The kings of the earth set themselves, and the rulers take counsel together, against the LORD, and against his anointed, saying, ³ Let us break their bands asunder, and cast away their cords from us. ⁴ He that sitteth in the heavens shall laugh: the Lord shall have them in derision. ⁵ Then shall he speak to them in his wrath, and trouble them in his sore displeasure. ⁶ Yet have I set my king upon my holy hill of Zion.

¹⁰ The LORD bringeth the counsel of the heathen to naught: he maketh the devices of the people of no effect.

⁹ (52:7)Lo, this is the man that made not God his strength; but trusted in the abundance of his riches, and strengthened himself in his wickedness.

⁵ (63:4)Thus will I bless thee while I live: I will lift up my hands in thy name.

¹⁰ (89:9)Thou rulest the raging of the sea: when its waves arise, thou stillest them.

¹³ (89:12)The north and the south thou hast created them: Tabor and Hermon shall rejoice in thy name.

¹ A Psalm. O sing to the LORD a new song; for he hath done marvelous things: his right hand, and his holy arm, hath gotten him the victory.

¹⁵ The voice of rejoicing and salvation is in the tabernacles of the righteous: the right hand of the LORD doeth valiantly.

¹² Wherefore it shall come to pass, that when the Lord hath performed his whole work upon mount Zion and on Jerusalem, I will punish the fruit of the stout heart of the king of Assyria, and the glory of his high looks. ¹³ For he saith, By the strength of my hand I have done it, and by my wisdom; for I am prudent: and I have removed the bounds of the people, and have robbed their treasures, and I have put down the inhabitants like a valiant man: ¹⁴ And my hand hath found as a nest the riches of the people: and as one gathereth eggs that are left, have I gathered all the earth; and there was none that moved the wing, or opened the mouth, or peeped. ¹⁵ Shall the ax boast itself against him that heweth with it? or shall the saw magnify itself against him that moveth it? as if the rod should shake itself against them that lift it, or as if the staff should lift itself, as if it were no wood. ¹⁶ Therefore will the Lord, the LORD of hosts, send among his fat ones leanness; and under his glory he will kindle a burning like the burning of a fire. ¹⁷ And the light of Israel shall be for a fire, and his Holy One for a flame: and it shall burn and devour his thorns and his briers in one day; ¹⁸ And shall consume the glory of his forest, and of his fruitful field, both soul and body: and they shall be as when a standard-bearer fainteth. ¹⁹ And the rest of the trees of his forest shall be few, that a child may write them.

¹⁰ Behold, the Lord GOD will come with strong hand, and his arm will rule for him: behold, his reward is with him, and his work before him.

⁹ Awake, awake, put on thy strength, O arm of the LORD; awake, as in the ancient days, in the generations of old. Art thou not that which hath cut Rahab, and wounded the dragon?

¹⁰ The LORD hath made bare his holy arm in the eyes of all the nations: and all the ends of the earth shall see the salvation of our God.

¹² That led them by the right hand of Moses with his glorious arm, dividing the water before them, to make himself an everlasting name?

²⁹ We have heard the pride of Moab, (he is exceeding proud) his loftiness, and his arrogance, and his pride, and the haughtiness of his heart. ³⁰ I know his wrath, saith the LORD; but it shall not be so; his lies shall not so effect it.

³⁷ Now I Nebuchadnezzar praise and extol and honor the King of heaven, all whose works are truth, and his ways judgment: and those that walk in pride he is able to abase.

²⁵ And this is the writing that was written, MENE, MENE, TEKEL, UPHARSIN. ²⁶ This is the interpretation of the thing: MENE; God hath numbered thy kingdom, and finished it. ²⁷ TEKEL; Thou art weighed in the balances, and art found wanting. ²⁸ PERES; Thy kingdom is divided, and given to the Medes and Persians. ²⁹ Then commanded Belshazzar, and they clothed Daniel with scarlet, and put a chain of gold about his neck, and made a proclamation concerning him, that he should be the third ruler in the kingdom. ³⁰ In that night was Belshazzar the king of the Chaldeans slain.

²¹ Because that when they knew God, they glorified him not as God, neither were thankful, but became vain in their imaginations, and their foolish heart was darkened.

⁵ Casting down imaginations, and every high thing that exalteth itself against the knowledge of God, and bringing into captivity every thought to the obedience of Christ;

⁵ Likewise, ye younger, submit yourselves to the elder. Yes, all of you be subject one to another, and be clothed with humility: for God resisteth the proud, and giveth grace to the humble.

⁸ Therefore shall her plagues come in one day, death, and mourning, and famine; and she shall be utterly burned with fire: for strong is the Lord God who judgeth her.

⁴ The bows of the mighty men are broken, and they that stumbled are girded with strength.

⁶ The LORD killeth, and maketh alive: he bringeth down to the grave, and bringeth up. ⁷ The LORD maketh poor, and maketh rich: he bringeth low, and lifteth up. ⁸ He raiseth the poor out of the dust, and lifteth the beggar from the dunghill, to set them among princes, and to make them inherit the throne of glory: for the pillars of the earth are the LORD'S, and he hath set the world upon them.

¹¹ To set on high those that are low: that those who mourn may be exalted to safety. ¹² He disappointeth the devices of the crafty, so that their hands cannot perform their enterprise. ¹³ He taketh the wise in their own craftiness: and the counsel of the froward is carried headlong.

²⁴ He shall break in pieces mighty men without number, and set others in their stead. ²⁵ Therefore he knoweth their works, and he overturneth them in the night, so that they are destroyed. ²⁶ He striketh them as wicked men in the open sight of others; ²⁷ Because they turned back from him, and would not consider any of his ways: ²⁸ So that they cause the cry of the poor to come to him, and he heareth the cry of the afflicted.

⁴⁰ He poureth contempt upon princes, and causeth them to wander in the wilderness, where there is no way. ⁴¹ Yet he setteth the poor on high from affliction, and maketh him families like a flock.

⁶ Who humbleth himself to behold the things that are in heaven, and in the earth!

¹⁴ For out of prison he cometh to reign; whereas also he that is born in his kingdom becometh poor.

²⁴ And all the trees of the field shall know that I the LORD have brought down the high tree, have exalted the low tree, have dried up the green tree, and have made the dry tree to flourish: I the LORD have spoken and have done it.

¹¹ In that day will I raise up the tabernacle of David that is fallen, and close up their breaches; and I will raise up its ruins, and I will build it as in the days of old:

³ Is not this the carpenter, the son of Mary, the brother of James, and Joses, and of Judas, and Simon? and are not his sisters here with us? And they were offended at him.

¹⁴ I tell you, this man went down to his house justified rather than the other: for every one that exalteth himself shall be abased; and he that humbleth himself shall be exalted.

⁹ Let the brother of low degree rejoice in that he is exalted: ¹⁰ But the rich, in that he is made low: because as the flower of the grass he shall pass away.

¹⁰ Humble yourselves in the sight of the Lord, and he will lift you up.

⁵ They that were full have hired out themselves for bread; and they that were hungry ceased: so that the barren hath borne seven; and she that hath many children is become feeble.

¹⁰ (34:9)O fear the LORD, ye his saints: for there is no want to them that fear him.

⁸ Oh that men would praise the LORD for his goodness, and for his wonderful works to the children of men! ⁹ For he satisfieth the longing soul, and filleth the hungry soul with goodness.

⁷ Who executeth judgment for the oppressed: who giveth food to the hungry. The LORD looseth the prisoners:

²⁹ And I will raise up for them a plant of renown, and they shall be no more consumed with hunger in the land, neither bear the shame of the heathen any more.

⁶ Blessed are they who hunger and thirst for righteousness: for they shall be filled.

²¹ Blessed are ye that hunger now: for ye shall be filled. Blessed are ye that weep now: for ye shall laugh.

²⁴ But woe to you that are rich! for ye have received your consolation.

¹⁶ And he spoke a parable to them, saying, The ground of a certain rich man brought forth plentifully: ¹⁷ And he thought within himself, saying, What shall I do, because I have no room where to deposit my fruits? ¹⁸ And he said, This will I do: I will pull down my barns, and build greater; and there will I deposit all my fruits and my goods. ¹⁹ And I will say to my soul, Soul, thou hast abundance of goods laid up for many years; take thy ease, eat, drink, and be merry. ²⁰ But God said to him, Thou fool, this night thy soul shall be required of thee: then whose shall those things be which thou hast provided? ²¹ So is he that layeth up treasure for himself, and is not rich towards God.

¹⁹ There was a certain rich man, who was clothed in purple and fine linen, and fared sumptuously every day: ²⁰ And there was a certain beggar named Lazarus, who was laid at his gate, full of sores, ²¹ And desiring to be fed with the crumbs which fell from the rich man's table: moreover, the dogs came and licked his sores. ²² And it came to pass, that the beggar died, and was carried by angels into Abraham's bosom. The rich man also died, and was buried: ²³ And in hell he lifted up his eyes, being in torments, and seeth Abraham afar off, and Lazarus in his bosom. ²⁴ And he cried, and said, Father Abraham, have mercy on me, and send Lazarus, that he may dip the tip of his finger in water, and cool my tongue: for I am tormented in this flame. ²⁵ But Abraham said, Son, remember that thou in thy life-time receivedst thy good things, and likewise Lazarus evil things: but now he is comforted, and thou art tormented.

¹¹ The Pharisee stood and prayed thus with himself, God, I thank thee, that I am not as other men are, extortioners, unjust, adulterers, or even as this publican. ¹² I fast twice in the week, I give tithes of all that I possess. ¹³ And the publican, standing afar off, would not lift up so much as his eyes to heaven, but smote upon his breast, saying, God be merciful to me a sinner. ¹⁴ I tell you, this man went down to his house justified rather than the other: for every one that exalteth himself shall be abased; and he that humbleth himself shall be exalted.

²⁴ And when Jesus saw that he was very sorrowful, he said, How hardly will they that have riches enter into the kingdom of God! ²⁵ For it is easier for a camel to go through a needle's eye, than for a rich man to enter into the kingdom of God.

¹¹ And Jesus took the loaves; and when he had given thanks, he distributed to the disciples, and the disciples to them that were set down; and likewise of the fishes, as much as they would. ¹² When they were satisfied, he said to his disciples, Gather the fragments that remain, that nothing may be lost. ¹³ Therefore they gathered them, and filled twelve baskets with the fragments of the five barley-loaves, which remained over and above to them that had eaten.

³⁵ And Jesus said to them, I am the bread of life: he that cometh to me, shall never hunger; and he that believeth on me, shall never thirst.

²⁶ For ye see your calling, brethren, that not many wise men after the flesh, not many mighty, not many noble are called:

⁸ Now ye are full, now ye are rich, ye have reigned as kings without us: and I wish ye did reign, that we also might reign with you.

¹ Come now, ye rich men, weep and howl for your miseries that shall come upon you. ² Your riches are corrupted, and your garments are moth-eaten. ³ Your gold and silver is cankered; and the rust of them shall be a testimony against you, and shall eat your flesh as it were fire. Ye have amassed treasure for the last days. ⁴ Behold, the hire of the laborers who have reaped your fields, which is by you kept back by fraud, crieth: and the cries of them who have reaped have entered into the ears of the Lord of Sabaoth. ⁵ Ye have lived in pleasure on the earth, and been wanton; ye have nourished your hearts, as in a day of slaughter. ⁶ Ye have condemned and killed the just; and he doth not resist you.

¹⁷ Because thou sayest, I am rich, and increased with goods, and have need of nothing; and knowest not that thou art wretched, and miserable, and poor, and blind, and naked: ¹⁸ I counsel thee to buy of me gold tried in the fire, that thou mayest be rich; and white raiment, that thou mayest be clothed, and that the shame of thy nakedness may not appear; and anoint thy eyes with eye-salve, that thou mayest see.

¹⁶ They shall hunger no more, neither thirst any more; neither shall the sun light on them, nor any heat. ¹⁷ For the Lamb who is in the midst of the throne will feed them, and will lead them to living fountains of waters: and God will wipe away all tears from their eyes.

³ He hath remembered his mercy and his truth towards the house of Israel: all the ends of the earth have seen the salvation of our God.

²¹ Remember these, O Jacob and Israel; for thou art my servant: I have formed thee; thou art my servant: O Israel, thou shalt not be forgotten by me.

³ Hearken to me, O house of Jacob, and all the remnant of the house of Israel, which are borne by me from the birth, which are carried from the womb: ⁴ And even to your old age I am he; and even to hoary hairs will I carry you: I have made, and I will bear; even I will carry, and will deliver you.

¹⁴ But Zion said, The LORD hath forsaken me, and my Lord hath forgotten me. ¹⁵ Can a woman forget her sucking child, that she should not have compassion on the son of her womb? yes, they may forget, yet I will not forget thee. ¹⁶ Behold, I have graven thee upon the palms of my hands; thy walls are continually before me.

⁶ For the LORD hath called thee as a woman forsaken and grieved in spirit, and a wife of youth, when thou wast refused, saith thy God. ⁷ For a small moment have I forsaken thee; but with great mercies will I gather thee. ⁸ In a little wrath I hid my face from thee for a moment; but with everlasting kindness will I have mercy on thee, saith the LORD thy Redeemer. ⁹ For this is as the waters of Noah to me: for as I have sworn that the waters of Noah shall no more overflow the earth; so have I sworn that I will not be wroth with thee, nor rebuke thee. ¹⁰ For the mountains shall depart, and the hills be removed, but my kindness shall not depart from thee, neither shall the covenant of my peace be removed, saith the LORD that hath mercy on thee.

⁷ I will mention the loving-kindnesses of the LORD, and the praises of the LORD, according to all that the LORD hath bestowed on us, and the great goodness towards the house of Israel, which he hath bestowed on them according to his mercies, and according to the multitude of his loving-kindnesses. ⁸ For he said, Surely they are my people, children that will not lie: so he was their Savior. ⁹ In all their affliction he was afflicted, and the angel of his presence saved them: in his love and in his pity he redeemed them; and he bore them, and carried them all the days of old. ¹⁰ But they rebelled, and vexed his holy Spirit: therefore he was turned to be their enemy, and he fought against them. ¹¹ Then he remembered the days of old, Moses, and his people, saying, Where is he that brought them out of the sea with the shepherd of his flock? where is he that put his holy Spirit within him? ¹² That led them by the right hand of Moses with his glorious arm, dividing the water before them, to make himself an everlasting name? ¹³ That led them through the deep, as a horse in the wilderness, that they should not stumble? ¹⁴ As a beast goeth down in the valley, the Spirit of the LORD caused him to rest: so didst thou lead thy people, to make thyself a glorious name. ¹⁵ Look down from heaven, and behold from the habitation of thy holiness and of thy glory: where is thy zeal and thy strength, the sounding of thy bowels and of thy mercies towards me? are they restrained? ¹⁶ Doubtless thou art our father, though Abraham be ignorant of us, and Israel acknowledge us not: thou, O LORD, art our father, our Redeemer; thy name is from everlasting.

³ The LORD appeared of old to me, saying, I have loved thee with an everlasting love: therefore with loving-kindness have I drawn thee.

²⁰ Is Ephraim my dear son? is he a pleasant child? for since I spoke against him, I do earnestly remember him still: therefore my bowels are troubled for him; I will surely have mercy upon him, saith the LORD.

²⁴ Considerest thou not what this people have spoken, saying, The two families which the LORD hath chosen, he hath even cast them off? thus they have despised my people, that they should be no more a nation before them. ²⁵ Thus saith the LORD; If my covenant is not with day and night, and if I have not appointed the ordinances of heaven and earth; ²⁶ Then will I cast away the seed of Jacob, and David my servant, so that I will not take any of his seed to be rulers over the seed of Abraham, Isaac, and Jacob; for I will cause their captivity to return, and have mercy on them.

²⁰ Thou wilt perform the truth to Jacob, and the mercy to Abraham, which thou hast sworn to our fathers from the days of old.

¹⁴ Sing, O daughter of Zion; shout, O Israel; be glad and rejoice with all the heart, O daughter of Jerusalem. ¹⁵ The LORD hath taken away thy judgments, he hath cast out thy enemy: the King of Israel, even the LORD, is in the midst of thee: thou shalt not see evil any more. ¹⁶ In that day it shall be said to Jerusalem, Fear thou not: and to Zion, Let not thy hands be slack. ¹⁷ The LORD thy God in the midst of thee is mighty; he will save, he will rejoice over thee with joy; he will rest in his love, he will joy over thee with singing. ¹⁸ I will gather them that are sorrowful for the solemn assembly, who are of thee, to whom the reproach of it was a burden. ¹⁹ Behold, at that time I will undo all that afflict thee: and I will save her that halteth, and gather her that was driven out; and I will get them praise and fame in every land where they have been put to shame. ²⁰ At that time will I bring you again, even in the time that I gather you: for I will make you a name and a praise among all people of the earth, when I turn back your captivity before your eyes, saith the LORD.

⁹ Rejoice greatly, O daughter of Zion; shout, O daughter of Jerusalem: behold, thy King cometh to thee: he is just, and having salvation; lowly, and riding upon an ass, and upon a colt the foal of an ass. ¹⁰ And I will cut off the chariot from Ephraim, and the horse from Jerusalem, and the battle-bow shall be cut off: and he shall speak peace to the heathen: and his dominion shall be from sea to sea, and from the river to the ends of the earth. ¹¹ As for thee also, by the blood of thy covenant I have sent forth thy prisoners out of the pit in which is no water.

⁷⁰ As he spoke by the mouth of his holy prophets, who have been since the world began: ⁷¹ That we should be saved from our enemies, and from the hand of all that hate us; ⁷² To perform the mercy promised to our fathers, and to remember his holy covenant: ⁷³ The oath which he swore to our father Abraham, ⁷⁴ That he would grant to us, that we being delivered out of the hand of our enemies, might serve him without fear, ⁷⁵ In holiness and righteousness before him, all the days of our life.

³ And I will bless them that bless thee, and curse him that curseth thee: and in thee shall all families of the earth be blessed.

⁴ And I will make thy seed to multiply as the stars of heaven, and will give to thy seed all these countries: and in thy seed shall all the nations of the earth be blessed:

¹⁴ And thy seed shall be as the dust of the earth; and thou shalt spread abroad to the west, and to the east, and to the north, and to the south: and in thee and in thy seed shall all the families of the earth be blessed.

⁶ O ye seed of Abraham his servant, ye children of Jacob his chosen. ⁷ He is the LORD our God: his judgments are in all the earth. ⁸ He hath remembered his covenant for ever, the word which he commanded to a thousand generations. ⁹ Which covenant he made with Abraham, and his oath to Isaac; ¹⁰ And confirmed the same to Jacob for a law, and to Israel for an everlasting covenant:

¹¹ The LORD hath sworn in truth to David; he will not turn from it; Of the fruit of thy body will I set upon thy throne. ¹² If thy children will keep my covenant and my testimony that I shall teach them; their children also shall sit upon thy throne for ever. ¹³ For the LORD hath chosen Zion; he hath desired it for his habitation. ¹⁴ This is my rest for ever: here will I dwell; for I have desired it. ¹⁵ I will abundantly bless her provision: I will satisfy her poor with bread. ¹⁶ I will also clothe her priests with salvation, and her saints shall shout aloud for joy. ¹⁷ There will I make the horn of David to bud, I have ordained a lamp for my anointed.

²⁸ As concerning the gospel, they are enemies for your sakes: but as concerning the election, they are beloved for the father's sakes. ²⁹ For the gifts and calling of God are without repentance.

¹⁶ Now to Abraham and his seed were the promises made. He saith not, And to seeds, as of many; but as of one, And to thy seed, which is Christ. ¹⁷ And this I say, that the covenant that was confirmed before by God in Christ, the law, which was four hundred and thirty years after, cannot disannul, that it should make the promise of no effect.

² For Sarah conceived and bore Abraham a son in his old age, at the set time of which God had spoken to him. ³ And Abraham called the name of his son that was born to him, whom Sarah bore to him, Isaac.

¹⁹ God is not a man, that he should lie; neither the son of man, that he should repent: hath he said, and shall he not do it? or hath he spoke, and shall he not make it good?

⁶ And so it was, that while they were there, the days were accomplished that she should be delivered. ⁷ And she brought forth her first-born son, and wrapped him in swaddling-clothes, and laid him in a manger; because there was no room for them in the inn.

¹⁹ Behold now, thy servant hath found grace in thy sight, and thou hast magnified thy mercy, which thou hast shown to me in saving my life: and I cannot escape to the mountain, lest some evil should take me, and I die:

¹⁴ And the women said to Naomi, Blessed be the LORD, who hath not left thee this day without a kinsman, that his name may be famous in Israel. ¹⁵ And he shall be to thee a restorer of thy life, and a nourisher of thy old age: for thy daughter-in-law, who loveth thee, who is better to thee than seven sons, hath borne him. ¹⁶ And Naomi took the child, and laid it in her bosom, and became its nurse. ¹⁷ And the women, her neighbors, gave it a name, saying, There is a son born to Naomi; and they called his name Obed: he is the father of Jesse, the father of David.

⁹ Shall I bring to the birth, and not cause to bring forth? saith the LORD: shall I cause to bring forth, and shut the womb? saith thy God. ¹⁰ Rejoice ye with Jerusalem, and be glad with her, all ye that love her: rejoice for joy with her, all ye that mourn for her:

¹⁴ And thou shalt have joy and gladness, and many shall rejoice at his birth.

²⁵ Thus hath the Lord dealt with me in the days in which he looked on me, to take away my reproach among men.

¹⁵ Rejoice with them that rejoice, and weep with them that weep.

²⁶ And thus if one member suffers all the members suffer with it; or, if one member is honored, all the members rejoice with it.

¹² And he that is eight days old shall be circumcised among you, every male-child in your generations, he that is born in the house, or bought with money of any stranger, who is not of thy seed.

³ And Abraham called the name of his son that was born to him, whom Sarah bore to him, Isaac. ⁴ And Abraham circumcised his son Isaac, being eight days old, as God had commanded him.

³ And in the eighth day the flesh of his foreskin shall be circumcised.

⁸ And he gave him the covenant of circumcision. And so Abraham begat Isaac, and circumcised him the eighth day; and Isaac begat Jacob, and Jacob begat the twelve patriarchs.

⁵ Circumcised the eighth day, of the stock of Israel, of the tribe of Benjamin, a Hebrew of the Hebrews; with respect to the law, a Pharisee;

²⁵ And he sent by the hand of Nathan the prophet; and he called his name Jedidiah, because of the LORD.

⁶³ And he asked for a writing-table, and wrote, saying, His name is John. And they all wondered.

³ Let not mercy and truth forsake thee: bind them about thy neck; write them upon the table of thy heart:

⁸ Now go, write it before them in a table, and note it in a book, that it may be for the time to come for ever and ever:

¹ The sin of Judah is written with a pen of iron, and with the point of a diamond: it is graven upon the table of their heart, and upon the horns of your altars;

² And the LORD answered me, and said, Write the vision, and make it plain upon tables, that he may run that readeth it.

⁶⁰ And his mother answered and said, Not so; but he shall be called John.

¹⁵ And thou shalt speak to him, and put words in his mouth: and I will be with thy mouth, and with his mouth, and will teach you what ye shall do. ¹⁶ And he shall speak for thee to the people: and he shall be, even he shall be to thee instead of a mouth, and thou shalt be to him instead of God.

⁷ (30:6)And in my prosperity I said, I shall never be moved. ⁸ (30:7)LORD, by thy favor thou hast made my mountain to stand strong: thou didst hide thy face, and I was troubled. ⁹ (30:8)I cried to thee, O LORD; and to the LORD I made supplication. ¹⁰ (30:9)What profit is there in my blood, when I go down to the pit? Shall the dust praise thee? shall it declare thy truth? ¹¹ (30:10)Hear, O LORD, and have mercy upon me: LORD, be thou my helper. ¹² (30:11)Thou hast turned for me my mourning into dancing: thou hast put off my sackcloth, and girded me with gladness;

¹⁵ (51:13)Then will I teach transgressors thy ways; and sinners shall be converted to thee.

¹⁸ The LORD hath chastened me severely: but he hath not given me over to death. ¹⁹ Open to me the gates of righteousness: I will enter them, and I will praise the LORD:

¹ And in that day thou shalt say, O LORD, I will praise thee: though thou wast angry with me, thy anger is turned away, and thou hast comforted me.

⁹ Then the LORD put forth his hand, and touched my mouth. And the LORD said to me, Behold, I have put my words in thy mouth.

²⁷ But when I speak with thee, I will open thy mouth, and thou shalt say to them, Thus saith the Lord GOD; He that heareth, let him hear; and he that forbeareth, let him forbear: for they are a rebellious house.

²¹ In that day will I cause the horn of the house of Israel to bud forth, and I will give thee the opening of the mouth in the midst of them; and they shall know that I am the LORD.

²² Now the hand of the LORD was upon me in the evening, before he that had escaped came; and had opened my mouth, until he came to me in the morning; and my mouth was opened, and I was no more dumb.

³⁴ And at the end of the days I Nebuchadnezzar lifted up my eyes to heaven, and my understanding returned to me, and I blessed the most High, and I praised and honored him that liveth for ever, whose dominion is an everlasting dominion, and his kingdom is from generation to generation: ³⁵ And all the inhabitants of the earth are reputed as nothing: and he doeth according to his will in the army of heaven, and among the inhabitants of the earth: and none can stay his hand, or say to him, What doest thou? ³⁶ At the same time my reason returned to me; and for the glory of my kingdom, my honor and brightness returned to me; and my counselors and my lords sought to me; and I was established in my kingdom, and excellent majesty was added to me. ³⁷ Now I Nebuchadnezzar praise and extol and honor the King of heaven, all whose works are truth, and his ways judgment: and those that walk in pride he is able to abase.

³³ And when the demon was cast out, the dumb spoke: and the multitudes marveled, saying, It was never so seen in Israel.

³² And they bring to him one that was deaf, and had an impediment in his speech; and they beseech him to put his hand upon him. ³³ And he took him aside from the multitude, and put his fingers into his ears, and he spit, and touched his tongue. ³⁴ And looking up to heaven, he sighed, and saith to him, Effatha, that is, Be opened. ³⁵ And immediately his ears were opened, and the string of his tongue was loosed, and he spoke plain. ³⁶ And he charged them that they should tell no man: but the more he charged them; so much the more a great deal they published it; ³⁷ And were beyond measure astonished, saying, He hath done all things well; he maketh both the deaf to hear, and the dumb to speak.

³⁹ And Mary arose in those days, and went into the hill-country with haste, into a city of Judah,

¹⁶ And there came a fear on all: and they glorified God, saying, That a great prophet hath risen among us; and, That God hath visited his people.

⁴³ And fear came upon every soul: and many wonders and signs were done by the apostles.

⁵ And Ananias hearing these words, fell down, and expired. And great fear came on all them that heard these things.

¹¹ And great fear came upon all the church, and upon as many as heard these things.

¹⁷ And this was known to all the Jews and Greeks also dwelling at Ephesus: and fear fell on them all, and the name of the Lord Jesus was magnified.

¹¹ And after three days and a half the Spirit of life from God entered into them, and they stood upon their feet; and great fear fell upon them who saw them.

¹¹ And his brethren envied him; but his father observed the saying.

² And the LORD was with Joseph, and he was a prosperous man: and he was in the house of his master the Egyptian.

²⁴ And the woman bore a son, and called his name Samson. And the child grew, and the LORD blessed him. ²⁵ And the Spirit of the LORD began to move him at times in the camp of Dan, between Zorah and Eshtaol.

¹⁸ But Samuel ministered before the LORD, being a child, girded with a linen ephod.

¹⁸ Then answered one of the servants, and said, Behold, I have seen a son of Jesse the Beth-lehemite, that is skillful in playing, and a mighty valiant man, and a man of war, and prudent in matters, and a comely person, and the LORD is with him.

⁴⁶ And the hand of the LORD was on Elijah; and he girded his loins, and ran before Ahab to the entrance of Jezreel.

¹⁷ (80:16)It is burnt with fire, it is cut down: they perish at the rebuke of thy countenance.

²¹ (89:20)I have found David my servant; with my holy oil have I anointed him:

¹¹ Thy word have I hid in my heart, that I might not sin against thee.

⁸⁰ And the child grew, and became strong in spirit, and was in the deserts till the day of his showing to Israel.

⁴⁰ And the child grew, and became strong in spirit, filled with wisdom: and the grace of God was upon him.

⁴⁴ Let these sayings sink down into your ears: for the Son of man will be delivered into the hands of men.

²¹ And the hand of the Lord was with them: and a great number believed, and turned to the Lord.

²⁵ And the LORD came down in a cloud, and spoke to him, and took of the spirit that was upon him, and gave it to the seventy elders: and it came to pass, that when the spirit rested upon them; they prophesied, and did not cease.

² The Spirit of the LORD spoke by me, and his word was on my tongue.

⁴¹ And it came to pass, that when Elisabeth heard the salutation of Mary, the babe leaped in her womb: and Elisabeth was filled with the Holy Spirit.

²¹ For prophecy came not in old time by the will of man: but holy men of God spoke as they were moved by the Holy Spirit.

²⁶ And he said, Blessed be the LORD God of Shem; and Canaan shall be his servant.

²⁰ And blessed be the most high God, who hath delivered thy enemies into thy hand. And he gave him tithes of all.

¹⁶ Go and assemble the elders of Israel, and say to them, The LORD God of your fathers, the God of Abraham, of Isaac, and of Jacob, appeared to me, saying, I have surely visited you, and seen that which is done to you in Egypt. ¹⁷ And I have said, I will bring you out of the affliction of Egypt to the land of the Canaanites, and the Hittites, and the Amorites, and the Perizzites, and the Hivites, and the Jebusites, to a land flowing with milk and honey.

³¹ And the people believed: and when they heard that the LORD had visited the children of Israel, and that he had looked upon their affliction, then they bowed their heads, and worshiped.

⁴⁸ And also thus said the king, Blessed be the LORD God of Israel, who hath given one to sit on my throne this day, my eyes even seeing it.

¹⁰ Wherefore David blessed the LORD before all the congregation: and David said, Blessed be thou, LORD God of Israel our father, for ever and ever.

²⁰ And David said to all the congregation, Now bless the LORD your God. And all the congregation blessed the LORD God of their fathers, and bowed their heads, and worshiped the LORD, and the king.

¹³ (41:12)And as for me, thou upholdest me in my integrity, and settest me before thy face for ever.

⁴⁸ Blessed be the LORD God of Israel from everlasting to everlasting: and let all the people say, Amen. Praise ye the LORD.

³⁸ And she coming in that instant, gave thanks likewise to the Lord, and spoke of him to all them that looked for redemption in Jerusalem.

⁴⁴ And shall lay thee even with the ground, and thy children within thee: and they shall not leave in thee one stone upon another: because thou knewest not the time of thy visitation.

³ Blessed be the God and Father of our Lord Jesus Christ, who hath blessed us with all spiritual blessings in heavenly places in Christ:

⁷ In whom we have redemption through his blood, the forgiveness of sins, according to the riches of his grace;

¹ And Hannah prayed, and said, My heart rejoiceth in the LORD, my horn is exalted in the LORD; my mouth is enlarged over my enemies; because I rejoice in thy salvation.

¹⁰ The adversaries of the LORD shall be broken to pieces; out of heaven shall he thunder upon them: the LORD shall judge the ends of the earth; and he shall give strength to his king, and exalt the horn of his anointed.

²⁶ And let thy name be magnified for ever, saying, The LORD of hosts is the God over Israel: and let the house of thy servant David be established before thee.

³ The God of my rock; in him will I trust: he is my shield, and the horn of my salvation, my high tower, and my refuge, my preserver; thou savest me from violence.

¹³ Yet, I will not rend away all the kingdom; but will give one tribe to thy son for David my servant's sake, and for Jerusalem's sake which I have chosen.

³ (89:2)For I have said, Mercy shall be built up for ever: thy faithfulness wilt thou establish in the very heavens.

¹⁷ (89:16)In thy name shall they rejoice all the day: and in thy righteousness shall they be exalted.

¹⁷ There will I make the horn of David to bud, I have ordained a lamp for my anointed. ¹⁸ His enemies will I clothe with shame: but upon himself shall his crown flourish.

¹ And there shall come forth a rod out of the stem of Jesse, and a branch shall grow out of his roots: ² And the spirit of the LORD will rest upon him, the spirit of wisdom and understanding, the spirit of counsel and might, the spirit of knowledge and of the fear of the LORD; ³ And will make him of quick understanding in the fear of the LORD: and he will not judge after the sight of his eyes, neither reprove after the hearing of his ears: ⁴ But with righteousness will he judge the poor, and reprove with equity for the meek of the earth: and he will smite the earth with the rod of his mouth, and with the breath of his lips will he slay the wicked. ⁵ And righteousness shall be the girdle of his loins, and faithfulness the girdle of his reins. ⁶ The wolf also shall dwell with the lamb, and the leopard shall lie down with the kid; and the calf and the young lion and the fatling together; and a little child shall lead them. ⁷ And the cow and the bear shall feed; their young ones shall lie down together: and the lion shall eat straw like the ox. ⁸ And the suckling child shall play on the hole of the asp, and the weaned child shall put his hand on the den of the basilisk. ⁹ They shall not hurt nor destroy in all my holy mountain: for the earth shall be full of the knowledge of the LORD, as the waters cover the sea.

¹⁵ In those days, and at that time, will I cause the branch of righteousness to grow up to David; and he shall execute judgment and righteousness in the land. ¹⁶ In those days shall Judah be saved, and Jerusalem shall dwell in safety: and this is the name by which she shall be called, JEHOVAH our righteousness. ¹⁷ For thus saith the LORD; David shall never want a man to sit upon the throne of the house of Israel; ¹⁸ Neither shall the priests the Levites want a man before me to offer burnt-offerings, and to kindle meat-offerings, and to do sacrifice continually. ¹⁹ And the word of the LORD came to Jeremiah, saying, ²⁰ Thus saith the LORD; If ye can break my covenant of the day, and my covenant of the night, so that there should not be day and night in their season; ²¹ Then also may my covenant be broken with David my servant, that he should not have a son to reign upon his throne; and with the Levites the priests, my ministers. ²² As the host of heaven cannot be numbered, neither the sand of the sea measured: so will I multiply the seed of David my servant, and the Levites that minister to me. ²³ Moreover the word of the LORD came to Jeremiah, saying,

¹⁰ Blessed be the kingdom of our Father David, that cometh in the name of the Lord: Hosanna in the highest.

² (Which he had promised before by his prophets in the holy scriptures) ³ Concerning his Son Jesus Christ our Lord, who was born of the seed of David according to the flesh.

¹⁶ I Jesus have sent my angel to testify to you these things in the churches. I am the root and the offspring of David, and the bright and morning-star.

¹⁰ The scepter shall not depart from Judah, nor a lawgiver from between his feet, until Shiloh shall come: and to him shall be the gathering of the people.

⁵ Behold, the days come, saith the LORD, that I will raise to David a righteous Branch, and a King shall reign and prosper, and shall execute judgment and justice upon the earth.

¹⁰ Therefore fear thou not, O my servant Jacob, saith the LORD; neither be dismayed, O Israel: for lo, I will save thee from afar, and thy seed from the land of their captivity; and Jacob shall return, and shall be in rest, and quiet, and none shall make him afraid.

²⁴ Seventy weeks are determined upon thy people and upon thy holy city to finish the transgression, and to make an end of sins, and to make reconciliation for iniquity, and to bring in everlasting righteousness, and to seal up the vision and prophecy, and to anoint the most Holy. ²⁵ Know therefore and understand, that from the going forth of the commandment to restore and to build Jerusalem to the Messiah the Prince shall be seven weeks, and sixty and two weeks: the street shall be built again, and the wall, even in troublous times. ²⁶ And after sixty and two weeks shall Messiah be cut off, but not for himself: and the people of the prince that shall come shall destroy the city and the sanctuary; and its end shall be with a flood, and to the end of the war desolations are determined. ²⁷ And he shall confirm the covenant with many for one week: and in the midst of the week he shall cause the sacrifice and the oblation to cease, and for the overspreading of abominations, he shall make it desolate, even until the consummation, and that determined shall be poured upon the desolate.

³⁶ For David himself said by the Holy Spirit, The LORD said to my Lord, Sit thou on my right hand, till I make thy enemies thy footstool.

²⁶ Ought not Christ to suffer these things, and to enter into his glory? ²⁷ And beginning at Moses, and all the prophets, he expounded to them in all the scriptures the things concerning himself.

⁴⁴ And he said to them, These are the words which I spoke to you, while I was yet with you, that all things must be fulfilled, which were written in the law of Moses, and in the prophets, and in the psalms, concerning me.

²¹ Whom the heaven must receive, until the times of restitution of all things, which God hath spoken by the mouth of all his holy prophets, since the world began. ²² For Moses truly said to the fathers, A Prophet will the Lord your God raise up to you, of your brethren, like me; him shall ye hear in all things, whatever he shall say to you. ²³ And it shall come to pass, that every soul who will not hear that Prophet, shall be destroyed from among the people. ²⁴ And all the prophets also from Samuel, and those that follow, as many as have spoken, have likewise foretold these days.

²⁵ And when they agreed not among themselves, they departed, after Paul had spoken one word, Well spoke the Holy Spirit by Isaiah the prophet to our fathers,

⁷ Wherefore (as the Holy Spirit saith, To-day if ye will hear his voice,

¹² To whom it was revealed, that not to themselves, but to us they ministered the things which are now reported to you by them that have preached the gospel to you, with the Holy Spirit sent down from heaven; which things the angels desire to look into.

¹⁰ And I fell at his feet to worship him. And he said to me, See thou do it not: I am thy fellow-servant, and of thy brethren that have the testimony of Jesus: worship God: for the testimony of Jesus is the spirit of prophecy.

²⁹ Happy art thou, O Israel: who is like to thee, O people saved by the LORD, the shield of thy help, and who is the sword of thy excellence! and thy enemies shall be found liars to thee; and thou shalt tread upon their high places.

¹⁰ And he saved them from the hand of him that hated them, and redeemed them from the hand of the enemy.

⁴⁷ Save us, O LORD our God, and gather us from among the heathen, to give thanks to thy holy name, and to triumph in thy praise.

¹ For the LORD will have mercy on Jacob, and will yet choose Israel, and set them in their own land: and the strangers shall be joined with them, and they shall cleave to the house of Jacob. ² And the people shall take them, and bring them to their place: and the house of Israel shall possess them in the land of the LORD for servants and handmaids: and they shall take them captives, whose captives they were; and they shall rule over their oppressors. ³ And it shall come to pass in the day that the LORD shall give thee rest from thy sorrow, and from thy fear, and from the hard bondage in which thou wast made to serve,

²⁴ Thus saith the LORD thy Redeemer, and he that formed thee from the womb, I am the LORD that maketh all things; that stretcheth forth the heavens alone; that spreadeth abroad the earth by myself: ²⁵ That frustrateth the tokens of the liars, and maketh diviners mad; that turneth wise men backward, and maketh their knowledge foolish; ²⁶ That confirmeth the word of his servant, and performeth the counsel of his messengers; that saith to Jerusalem, Thou shalt be inhabited; and to the cities of Judah, Ye shall be built, and I will raise up her decayed places:

⁷ For a small moment have I forsaken thee; but with great mercies will I gather thee. ⁸ In a little wrath I hid my face from thee for a moment; but with everlasting kindness will I have mercy on thee, saith the LORD thy Redeemer. ⁹ For this is as the waters of Noah to me: for as I have sworn that the waters of Noah shall no more overflow the earth; so have I sworn that I will not be wroth with thee, nor rebuke thee. ¹⁰ For the mountains shall depart, and the hills be removed, but my kindness shall not depart from thee, neither shall the covenant of my peace be removed, saith the LORD that hath mercy on thee. ¹¹ Oh thou afflicted, tossed with tempest, and not comforted, behold, I will lay thy stones with fair colors, and lay thy foundations with sapphires. ¹² And I will make thy windows of agates, and thy gates of carbuncles, and all thy borders of pleasant stones. ¹³ And all thy children shall be taught from the LORD; and great shall be the peace of thy children. ¹⁴ In righteousness shalt thou be established: thou shalt be far from oppression; for thou shalt not fear: and from terror; for it shall not come near thee. ¹⁵ Behold, they shall surely assemble but not by me: whoever shall assemble against thee shall fall for thy sake. ¹⁶ Behold, I have created the smith that bloweth the coals in the fire, and that bringeth forth an instrument for his work; and I have created the waster to destroy. ¹⁷ No weapon that is formed against thee shall prosper; and every tongue that shall rise against thee in judgment thou shalt condemn. This is the heritage of the servants of the LORD, and their righteousness is from me, saith the LORD.

⁶ In his days Judah shall be saved, and Israel shall dwell in safety: and this is his name by which he shall be called, JEHOVAH OUR RIGHTEOUSNESS.

⁹ But they shall serve the LORD their God, and David their king, whom I will raise up to them. ¹⁰ Therefore fear thou not, O my servant Jacob, saith the LORD; neither be dismayed, O Israel: for lo, I will save thee from afar, and thy seed from the land of their captivity; and Jacob shall return, and shall be in rest, and quiet, and none shall make him afraid. ¹¹ For I am with thee, saith the LORD, to save thee: though I make a full end of all nations whither I have scattered thee, yet will I not make a full end of thee: but I will correct thee in measure, and will not leave thee altogether unpunished.

³⁷ Behold, I will gather them out of all countries, whither I have driven them in my anger, and in my fury, and in great wrath; and I will bring them again to this place, and I will cause them to dwell in safety.

²⁶ And they shall dwell safely therein, and shall build houses, and plant vineyards; yes, they shall dwell with confidence, when I have executed judgments upon all those that despise them around them; and they shall know that I am the LORD their God.

²⁵ And I will make with them a covenant of peace, and will cause the evil beasts to cease out of the land: and they shall dwell safely in the wilderness, and sleep in the woods.

²⁸ And they shall no more be a prey to the heathen, neither shall the beast of the land devour them; but they shall dwell safely, and none shall make them afraid.

⁸ After many days thou shalt be visited: in the latter years thou shalt come into the land that is brought back from the sword, and is gathered out of many people, against the mountains of Israel, which have been always waste: but it is brought forth out of the nations, and they shall all dwell in safety.

⁹ Rejoice greatly, O daughter of Zion; shout, O daughter of Jerusalem: behold, thy King cometh to thee: he is just, and having salvation; lowly, and riding upon an ass, and upon a colt the foal of an ass. ¹⁰ And I will cut off the chariot from Ephraim, and the horse from Jerusalem, and the battle-bow shall be cut off: and he shall speak peace to the heathen: and his dominion shall be from sea to sea, and from the river to the ends of the earth.

⁷⁴ That he would grant to us, that we being delivered out of the hand of our enemies, might serve him without fear,

⁸ He that committeth sin is of the devil; for the devil sinneth from the beginning. For this purpose the Son of God was manifested, that he might destroy the works of the devil.

⁴ As for me, behold, my covenant is with thee, and thou shalt be a father of many nations. ⁵ Neither shall thy name any more be called Abram, but thy name shall be Abraham; for a father of many nations have I made thee. ⁶ And I will make thee exceedingly fruitful, and I will make nations of thee; and kings shall proceed from thee. ⁷ And I will establish my covenant between me and thee, and thy seed after thee, in their generations, for an everlasting covenant; to be a God to thee and to thy seed after thee. ⁸ And I will give to thee, and to thy seed after thee, the land in which thou art a stranger, all the land of Canaan, for an everlasting possession; and I will be their God. ⁹ And God said to Abraham, Thou shalt keep my covenant therefore, thou, and thy seed after thee, in their generations.

⁴² Then will I remember my covenant with Jacob, and also my covenant with Isaac, and also my covenant with Abraham will I remember; and I will remember the land.

⁴⁵ And he remembered for them his covenant, and repented according to the multitude of his mercies.

⁵ He hath given food to them that fear him: he will ever be mindful of his covenant.

⁸ Now when I passed by thee, and looked upon thee, behold, thy time was the time of love; and I spread my skirt over thee, and covered thy nakedness: yes, I swore to thee, and entered into a covenant with thee, saith the Lord GOD, and thou becamest mine.

⁶⁰ Nevertheless I will remember my covenant with thee in the days of thy youth, and I will establish to thee an everlasting covenant.

⁵⁴ He hath sustained his servant Israel, in remembrance of his mercy; ⁵⁵ As he spoke to our fathers, to Abraham, and to his seed for ever.

²⁵ Ye are the children of the prophets, and of the covenant which God made with our fathers, saying to Abraham, And in thy seed shall all the kindreds of the earth be blessed. ²⁶ To you first, God having raised up his Son Jesus, sent him to bless you, in turning away every one of you from his iniquities.

²⁸ As concerning the gospel, they are enemies for your sakes: but as concerning the election, they are beloved for the father's sakes.

¹⁵ Brethren, I speak after the manner of men; Though it is but a man's covenant, yet if it is confirmed, no man disannulleth or addeth to it.

¹³ For when God made promise to Abraham, because he could swear by no greater, he swore by himself, ¹⁴ Saying, Surely blessing I will bless thee, and multiplying I will multiply thee. ¹⁵ And so, after he had patiently endured, he obtained the promise. ¹⁶ For men verily swear by the greater: and an oath for confirmation is to them an end of all contradiction. ¹⁷ Wherein God, willing more abundantly to show to the heirs of promise the immutability of his counsel, confirmed it by an oath: ¹⁸ That by two immutable things, in which it was impossible for God to lie, we might have a strong consolation, who have fled for refuge to lay hold upon the hope set before us:

¹⁶ And said, By myself have I sworn, saith the LORD, for because thou hast done this thing, and hast not withheld thy son, thy only son: ¹⁷ That in blessing I will bless thee, and in multiplying I will multiply thy seed as the stars of heaven, and as the sand which is on the sea shore; and thy seed shall possess the gate of his enemies; ¹⁸ And in thy seed shall all the nations of the earth be blessed: because thou hast obeyed my voice.

⁷ The LORD God of heaven, who took me from my father's house, and from the land of my kindred, and who spoke to me, and who swore to me, saying, To thy seed I will give this land: he will send his angel before thee, and thou shalt take a wife for my son from thence.

³ Sojourn in this land, and I will be with thee, and will bless thee: for to thee, and to thy seed I will give all these countries, and I will perform the oath which I swore to Abraham thy father;

⁸ But because the LORD loved you, and because he would keep the oath which he had sworn to your fathers, hath the LORD brought you out with a mighty hand, and redeemed you from the house of bond-men, from the hand of Pharaoh king of Egypt.

¹² Wherefore it shall come to pass, if ye hearken to these judgments, and keep, and do them, that the LORD thy God will keep to thee the covenant and the mercy which he swore to thy fathers:

⁹ Which covenant he made with Abraham, and his oath to Isaac;

⁵ That I may perform the oath which I have sworn to your fathers, to give them a land flowing with milk and honey, as it is this day. Then answered I, and said, So be it, O LORD.

⁹ No lion shall be there, nor any ravenous beast shall go up thereon, it shall not be found there; but the redeemed shall walk there: ¹⁰ And the ransomed of the LORD shall return, and come to Zion with songs and everlasting joy upon their heads: they shall obtain joy and gladness, and sorrow and sighing shall flee away.

¹⁷ But Israel shall be saved in the LORD with an everlasting salvation: ye shall not be ashamed nor confounded world without end.

¹³ And all thy children shall be taught from the LORD; and great shall be the peace of thy children. ¹⁴ In righteousness shalt thou be established: thou shalt be far from oppression; for thou shalt not fear: and from terror; for it shall not come near thee.

²¹ And they shall build houses, and inhabit them; and they shall plant vineyards, and eat the fruit of them. ²² They shall not build, and another inhabit; they shall not plant, and another eat: for as the days of a tree are the days of my people, and my elect shall long enjoy the work of their hands. ²³ They shall not labor in vain, nor bring forth for trouble; for they are the seed of the blessed of the LORD, and their offspring with them. ²⁴ And it shall come to pass, that before they call, I will answer; and while they are yet speaking, I will hear. ²⁵ The wolf and the lamb shall feed together, and the lion shall eat straw like the bullock: and dust shall be the serpents' food. They shall not hurt nor destroy in all my holy mountain, saith the LORD.

²⁵ And I will make with them a covenant of peace, and will cause the evil beasts to cease out of the land: and they shall dwell safely in the wilderness, and sleep in the woods. ²⁶ And I will make them and the places around my hill a blessing; and I will cause the shower to come down in its season; there shall be showers of blessing. ²⁷ And the tree of the field shall yield her fruit, and the earth shall yield her increase, and they shall be safe in their land, and shall know that I am the LORD, when I have broken the bands of their yoke, and delivered them out of the hand of those that subjected them to service. ²⁸ And they shall no more be a prey to the heathen, neither shall the beast of the land devour them; but they shall dwell safely, and none shall make them afraid.

²⁸ Then shall they know that I am the LORD their God, who caused them to be led into captivity among the heathen: but I have gathered them to their own land, and have left none of them there any more. ²⁹ Neither will I hide my face any more from them: for I have poured out my spirit upon the house of Israel, saith the Lord GOD.

⁸ And I will encamp about my house because of the army, because of him that passeth by, and because of him that returneth: and no oppressor shall pass through them any more: for now have I seen with my eyes.

⁷¹ That we should be saved from our enemies, and from the hand of all that hate us;

²² But now being made free from sin, and having become servants to God, ye have your fruit to holiness, and the end everlasting life.

¹⁵ For ye have not received the spirit of bondage again to fear; but ye have received the Spirit of adoption, by which we cry, Abba, Father.

⁷ For God hath not given us the spirit of fear, but of power, and of love, and of a sound mind.

¹⁵ And deliver them, who, through fear of death, were all their life-time subject to bondage.

¹⁴ How much more shall the blood of Christ, who through the eternal Spirit offered himself without spot to God, cleanse your conscience from dead works to serve the living God?

¹⁰ Fear none of those things which thou shalt suffer. Behold, the devil will cast some of you into prison, that ye may be tried; and ye shall have tribulation ten days. Be thou faithful to death, and I will give thee a crown of life.

² That thou mayst fear the LORD thy God, to keep all his statutes and his commandments which I command thee, thou, and thy son, and thy son's son, all the days of thy life: and that thy days may be prolonged.

⁴⁴ And gave them the lands of the heathen: and they inherited the labor of the people; ⁴⁵ That they might observe his statutes, and keep his laws. Praise ye the LORD.

³³ But this shall be the covenant that I will make with the house of Israel; After those days, saith the LORD, I will put my law in their inward parts, and write it in their hearts; and will be their God, and they shall be my people. ³⁴ And they shall teach no more every man his neighbor, and every man his brother, saying, Know the LORD: for they shall all know me, from the least of them to the greatest of them, saith the LORD: for I will forgive their iniquity, and I will remember their sin no more.

³⁹ And I will give them one heart, and one way, that they may fear me for ever, for the good of them, and of their children after them: ⁴⁰ And I will make an everlasting covenant with them, that I will not turn away from them, to do them good; but I will put my fear in their hearts, that they shall not depart from me.

²⁴ For I will take you from among the heathen, and gather you out of all countries, and will bring you into your own land. ²⁵ Then will I sprinkle clean water upon you, and ye shall be clean: from all your filthiness, and from all your idols, will I cleanse you. ²⁶ A new heart also will I give you, and a new spirit will I put within you: and I will take away the stony heart out of your flesh, and I will give you a heart of flesh. ²⁷ And I will put my spirit within you, and cause you to walk in my statutes, and ye shall keep my judgments, and do them.

⁴ According as he hath chosen us in him, before the foundation of the world, that we should be holy and without blame before him in love:

¹⁰ For we are his workmanship, created in Christ Jesus to good works, which God hath before ordained that we should walk in them.

²⁴ And that ye put on the new man, which after God is created in righteousness and true holiness.

¹ Furthermore then we beseech you, brethren, and exhort you by the Lord Jesus, that as ye have received from us how ye ought to walk and to please God, so ye would abound more and more.

⁷ For God hath not called us to uncleanness, but to holiness.

¹³ But we are bound to give thanks always to God for you, brethren, beloved by the Lord, because God hath from the beginning chosen you to salvation, through sanctification of the Spirit, and belief of the truth:

⁹ Who hath saved us, and called us with a holy calling, not according to our works, but according to his own purpose and grace, which was given to us in Christ Jesus before the world began;

¹⁴ As obedient children, not fashioning yourselves according to the former lusts in your ignorance: ¹⁵ But as he who hath called you is holy, so be ye holy in all manner of deportment. ¹⁶ Because it is written, Be ye holy; for I am holy.

⁴ Whereby are given to us exceeding great and precious promises; that by these ye might be partakers of the divine nature, having escaped the corruption that is in the world through lust. ⁵ And besides this, giving all diligence, add to your faith virtue; and to virtue knowledge; ⁶ And to knowledge temperance; and to temperance patience; and to patience godliness; ⁷ And to godliness brotherly kindness; and to brotherly kindness charity. ⁸ For if these things be in you, and abound, they make you that ye shall neither be barren nor unfruitful in the knowledge of our Lord Jesus Christ.

⁵ And of Zion it shall be said, This and that man was born in her: and the Highest himself shall establish her.

⁵ Behold, I will send you Elijah the prophet before the coming of the great and dreadful day of the LORD:

³ For this is he that was spoken of by the prophet Isaiah, saying, The voice of one crying in the wilderness, Prepare ye the way of the Lord, make his paths straight.

⁹ But what went ye out to see? A prophet? yes, I say to you, and more than a prophet. ¹⁰ For this is he concerning whom it is written, Behold, I send my messenger before thy face, who shall prepare thy way before thee.

⁵ And when he would have put him to death, he feared the multitude, because they counted him as a prophet.

²⁶ But if we shall say, From men; we fear the people: for all hold John as a prophet.

² As it is written in the prophets, Behold, I send my messenger before thy face, who shall prepare thy way before thee; ³ The voice of one crying in the wilderness, Prepare ye the way of the Lord, make his paths straight.

³² But if we shall say, from men; they feared the people: for all men counted John that he was a prophet indeed.

¹⁶ And many of the children of Israel shall he turn to the Lord their God. ¹⁷ And he shall go before him in the spirit and power of Elijah, to turn the hearts of the fathers to the children, and the disobedient to the wisdom of the just; to make ready a people prepared for the Lord.

³² He will be great, and will be called the Son of the Highest; and the Lord God will give to him the throne of his father David.

⁴ As it is written in the book of the words of Isaiah the prophet, saying, The voice of one crying in the wilderness, Prepare ye the way of the Lord, make his paths straight. ⁵ Every valley shall be filled, and every mountain and hill shall be brought low; and the crooked shall be made straight, and the rough ways shall be made smooth; ⁶ And all flesh shall see the salvation of God.

²⁷ This is he, concerning whom it is written, Behold, I send my messenger before thy face, who shall prepare thy way before thee. ²⁸ For I say to you, Among those that are born of women, there is not a greater prophet than John the Baptist: but he that is least in the kingdom of God, is greater than he.

²³ He said, I am the voice of one crying in the wilderness, Make straight the way of the Lord, as said the prophet Isaiah.

²⁷ He it is, who coming after me, is preferred before me, whose shoes' latchet I am not worthy to unloose.

²⁴ John having first preached, before his coming, the baptism of repentance to all the people of Israel. ²⁵ And as John fulfilled his course, he said, Whom think ye that I am? I am not he. But behold, there cometh one after me, whose shoes of his feet I am not worthy to loose.

³⁴ And they shall teach no more every man his neighbor, and every man his brother, saying, Know the LORD: for they shall all know me, from the least of them to the greatest of them, saith the LORD: for I will forgive their iniquity, and I will remember their sin no more.

³ The voice of one crying in the wilderness, Prepare ye the way of the Lord, make his paths straight. ⁴ John was baptizing in the wilderness, and preaching the baptism of repentance, for the remission of sins.

³ And he came into all the country about Jordan, preaching the baptism of repentance, for the remission of sins;

⁶ And all flesh shall see the salvation of God.

⁴⁷ Wherefore I say to thee, Her sins, which are many, are forgiven; for she loved much: but to whom little is forgiven, the same loveth little. ⁴⁸ And he said to her, Thy sins are forgiven. ⁴⁹ And they that sat at table with him, began to say within themselves, Who is this that forgiveth sins also? ⁵⁰ And he said to the woman, Thy faith hath saved thee; go in peace.

⁷ The same came for a witness, to bear testimony of the Light, that all men through him might believe. ⁸ He was not that Light, but was sent to bear testimony of that Light. ⁹ That was the true Light, which lighteth every man that cometh into the world.

¹⁵ John testified concerning him, and cried, saying, This was he of whom I spoke, He that cometh after me, is preferred before me; for he was before me. ¹⁶ And of his fullness have we all received, and grace for grace. ¹⁷ For the law was given by Moses, but grace and truth came by Jesus Christ.

²⁹ The next day John seeth Jesus coming to him, and saith, Behold the Lamb of God, who taketh away the sin of the world.

²⁷ John answered and said, A man can receive nothing, except it be given him from heaven. ²⁸ Ye yourselves bear me testimony, that I said I am not the Christ, but that I am sent before him. ²⁹ He that hath the bride, is the bridegroom: but the friend of the bridegroom, who standeth and heareth him, rejoiceth greatly, because of the bridegroom's voice: this my joy therefore is fulfilled. ³⁰ He must increase, but I must decrease. ³¹ He that cometh from above is above all: he that is of the earth is earthly, and speaketh of the earth: he that cometh from heaven is above all. ³² And what he hath seen and heard, that he testifieth; and no man receiveth his testimony. ³³ He that hath received his testimony, hath set to his seal that God is true. ³⁴ For he whom God hath sent, speaketh the words of God: for to him God giveth not the Spirit by measure.

³⁸ Then Peter said to them, Repent, and be baptized every one of you in the name of Jesus Christ, for the remission of sins, and ye shall receive the gift of the Holy Spirit.

¹⁹ Repent ye therefore, and be converted, that your sins may be blotted out, when the times of refreshing shall come from the presence of the Lord,

³¹ Him hath God exalted with his right hand to be a Prince and a Savior, to give repentance to Israel, and forgiveness of sins.

⁴³ To him give all the prophets testimony, that through his name whoever believeth in him shall receive remission of sins.

³⁸ Be it known to you therefore, men, brethren, that through this man is preached to you the forgiveness of sins; ³⁹ And by him all that believe are justified from all things, from which ye could not be justified by the law of Moses.

⁴ Then said Paul, John verily baptized with the baptism of repentance, saying to the people, That they should believe on him who should come after him, that is, on Christ Jesus.

²⁵ Whom God hath set forth to be a propitiation, through faith in his blood, to declare his righteousness for the remission of sins that are past, through the forbearance of God;

⁶ Even as David also describeth the blessedness of the man to whom God imputeth righteousness without works, ⁷ Saying, Blessed are they whose iniquities are forgiven, and whose sins are covered. ⁸ Blessed is the man to whom the Lord will not impute sin.

¹⁷ I shall see him, but not now: I shall behold him, but not nigh: there shall come a Star out of Jacob, and a Scepter shall rise out of Israel, and shall smite the corners of Moab, and destroy all the children of Sheth.

⁶ Remember, O LORD, thy tender mercies and thy loving kindnesses; for they have been ever of old.

¹ And there shall come forth a rod out of the stem of Jesse, and a branch shall grow out of his roots:

⁷ I will mention the loving-kindnesses of the LORD, and the praises of the LORD, according to all that the LORD hath bestowed on us, and the great goodness towards the house of Israel, which he hath bestowed on them according to his mercies, and according to the multitude of his loving-kindnesses.

¹⁵ Look down from heaven, and behold from the habitation of thy holiness and of thy glory: where is thy zeal and thy strength, the sounding of thy bowels and of thy mercies towards me? are they restrained?

⁸ Hear now, O Joshua the high priest, thou and thy fellows that sit before thee: for they are men wondered at: for behold, I will bring forth my servant the BRANCH.

¹² And speak to him, saying, Thus speaketh the LORD of hosts, saying, Behold the man whose name is The BRANCH; and he shall grow up out of his place, and he shall build the temple of the LORD;

² But to you that fear my name, shall the Sun of righteousness arise with healing in his wings; and ye shall go forth, and grow up as calves of the stall.

¹⁶ For God so loved the world, that he gave his only-begotten Son, that whoever believeth in him, should not perish, but have everlasting life.

⁴ But God, who is rich in mercy, for his great love with which he loved us, ⁵ Even when we were dead in sins, hath made us alive together with Christ, (by grace ye are saved;)

¹⁴ Wherefore he saith, Awake, thou that sleepest, and arise from the dead, and Christ will give thee light.

⁸ For God is my witness, how greatly I long after you all in the bowels of Jesus Christ.

¹ If there is therefore any consolation in Christ, if any comfort of love, if any fellowship of the Spirit, if any bowels and mercies,

¹² Put on therefore, as the elect of God, holy and beloved, bowels of mercies, kindness, humbleness of mind, meekness, long-suffering;

¹⁹ We have also a more sure word of prophecy; to which ye do well that ye take heed, as to a light that shineth in a dark place, until the day dawn, and the day-star arise in your hearts:

¹⁷ But he who hath this world's good, and seeth his brother have need, and shutteth up his bowels of compassion from him, how dwelleth the love of God in him?

⁹ In this was manifested the love of God towards us, because that God sent his only begotten Son into the world, that we might live through him. ¹⁰ In this is love, not that we loved God, but that he loved us, and sent his Son to be the propitiation for our sins.

⁵ Let darkness and the shades of death stain it; let a cloud dwell upon it; let the blackness of the day terrify it.

²² A land of darkness, as darkness itself; and of the shades of death, without any order, and where the light is as darkness.

⁴ Yes, though I walk through the valley of the shades of death, I will fear no evil: for thou art with me; thy rod and thy staff they comfort me.

⁸ Good and upright is the LORD: therefore will he teach sinners in the way. ⁹ The meek will he guide in judgment: and the meek will he teach his way. ¹⁰ All the paths of the LORD are mercy and truth to such as keep his covenant and his testimonies.

¹² What man is he that feareth the LORD? him shall he teach in the way that he shall choose.

¹⁹ (44:18)Our heart is not turned back, neither have our steps declined from thy way;

¹⁰ (85:9)Surely his salvation is nigh them that fear him; that glory may dwell in our land. ¹¹ (85:10)Mercy and truth are met together; righteousness and peace have kissed each other. ¹² (85:11)Truth shall spring out of the earth; and righteousness shall look down from heaven. ¹³ (85:12)Yes, the LORD will give that which is good; and our land shall yield her increase.

¹⁰ Such as sit in darkness and in the shades of death, being bound in affliction and iron;

¹⁴ He brought them out of darkness and the shades of death, and broke their bands asunder.

¹⁷ Her ways are ways of pleasantness, and all her paths are peace.

²⁰ I lead in the way of righteousness, in the midst of the paths of judgment.

² The people that walked in darkness have seen a great light: they that dwell in the land of the shades of death, upon them hath the light shined.

⁷ To open the blind eyes, to bring out the prisoners from the prison, and them that sit in darkness out of the prison-house.

¹⁶ And I will bring the blind by a way that they knew not; I will lead them in paths that they have not known: I will make darkness light before them, and crooked things straight. These things will I do for them, and not forsake them.

¹⁷ Thus saith the LORD, thy Redeemer, the Holy One of Israel; I am the LORD thy God, who teacheth thee to profit, who leadeth thee by the way that thou shouldst go.

²² There is no peace, saith the LORD, to the wicked.

⁹ That thou mayest say to the prisoners, Go forth; to them that are in darkness, Show yourselves. They shall feed in the ways, and their pastures shall be in all high places.

¹⁹ I create the fruit of the lips; Peace, peace to him that is far off, and to him that is near, saith the LORD; and I will heal him. ²⁰ But the wicked are like the troubled sea, when it cannot rest, whose waters cast up mire and dirt. ²¹ There is no peace, saith my God, to the wicked.

⁸ The way of peace they know not; and there is no judgment in their goings: they have made them crooked paths: whoever goeth therein shall not know peace.

¹ Arise, shine; for thy light is come, and the glory of the LORD is risen upon thee. ² For behold, the darkness shall cover the earth, and gross darkness the people: but the LORD will arise upon thee, and his glory will be seen upon thee. ³ And the Gentiles shall come to thy light, and kings to the brightness of thy rising.

⁶ Neither said they, Where is the LORD that brought us out of the land of Egypt, that led us through the wilderness, through a land of deserts and of pits, through a land of drouth, and of the shades of death, through a land that no man passed through, and where no man dwelt?

¹⁶ Thus saith the LORD, Stand ye in the ways, and see, and ask for the old paths, where is the good way, and walk in it, and ye shall find rest for your souls. But they said, We will not walk in it.

¹⁶ The people who sat in darkness, saw great light; and to them who sat in the region and shades of death, light hath arisen.

²⁸ Come to me, all ye that labor, and are heavy laden, and I will give you rest. ²⁹ Take my yoke upon you, and learn from me: for I am meek and lowly in heart; and ye shall find rest to your souls.

³² A light to enlighten the Gentiles, and the glory of thy people Israel.

⁹ That was the true Light, which lighteth every man that cometh into the world.

¹² Then Jesus spoke again to them, saying, I am the light of the world: he that followeth me shall not walk in darkness, but shall have the light of life.

⁵ As long as I am in the world, I am the light of the world.

⁴⁶ I am come a light into the world, that whoever believeth on me should not abide in darkness.

¹⁸ To open their eyes, and to turn them from darkness to light, and from the power of Satan to God, that they may receive forgiveness of sins, and inheritance among them who are sanctified by faith that is in me.

¹⁷ And the way of peace have they not known.

⁸ For ye were sometime darkness, but now are ye light in the Lord: walk as children of light;

⁴ But ye, brethren, are not in darkness, that that day should overtake you as a thief. ⁵ Ye are all children of light, and children of the day: we are not of the night, nor of darkness.

⁵ This then is the message which we have heard from him, and declare to you, that God is light, and in him is no darkness at all. ⁶ If we say that we have fellowship with him, and walk in darkness, we lie, and do not the truth: ⁷ But if we walk in the light, as he is in the light, we have fellowship one with another, and the blood of Jesus Christ his Son cleanseth us from all sin.

¹⁹ And Samuel grew, and the LORD was with him, and let none of his words fall to the ground. ²⁰ And all Israel, from Dan even to Beer-sheba, knew that Samuel was established to be a prophet of the LORD.

¹ In those days came John the Baptist, preaching in the wilderness of Judea,

⁷ And as they departed, Jesus began to say to the multitudes concerning John, What went ye out into the wilderness to see? a reed shaken with the wind?

⁵² And Jesus increased in wisdom and stature, and in favor with God and man.

³¹ And I knew him not: but that he should be made manifest to Israel, therefore am I come baptizing with water.
