¹² And it will come to pass, as soon as I have gone from thee, that the Spirit of the LORD will carry thee whither I know not; and so when I come and tell Ahab, and he cannot find thee, he will slay me: but I thy servant fear the LORD from my youth.

⁴ But he himself went a day's journey into the wilderness, and came and sat down under a juniper-tree: and he requested for himself that he might die; and said, It is enough; now, O LORD, take away my life; for I am not better than my fathers.

² And the spirit of the LORD will rest upon him, the spirit of wisdom and understanding, the spirit of counsel and might, the spirit of knowledge and of the fear of the LORD; ³ And will make him of quick understanding in the fear of the LORD: and he will not judge after the sight of his eyes, neither reprove after the hearing of his ears: ⁴ But with righteousness will he judge the poor, and reprove with equity for the meek of the earth: and he will smite the earth with the rod of his mouth, and with the breath of his lips will he slay the wicked.

¹ The Spirit of the Lord GOD is upon me; because the LORD hath anointed me to publish good tidings to the meek; he hath sent me to bind up the broken-hearted, to proclaim liberty to the captives, and the opening of the prison to them that are bound;

¹⁴ So the spirit lifted me up, and took me away, and I went in bitterness, in the heat of my spirit; but the hand of the LORD was strong upon me.

¹⁶ And Jesus, when he was baptized, went up immediately out of the water: and lo, the heavens were opened to him, and he saw the Spirit of God descending like a dove, and lighting upon him:

Is not the life more than food, and the body than raiment? ²⁶ Behold the fowls of the air: for they sow not, neither do they reap, nor gather into barns; yet your heavenly Father feedeth them. Are ye not much better than they?

³¹ Therefore be not anxious, saying, What shall we eat? or what shall we drink? or, with what shall we be clothed?

⁸ And Jesus answered and said to him, Get thee behind me, Satan: for it is written, Thou shalt worship the Lord thy God, and him only shalt thou serve.

¹⁰ For it is written, He will give his angels charge over thee, to keep thee:

³⁵ And he said to them, When I sent you without purse, and sack, and shoes, lacked ye any thing? And they said, Nothing.

³⁴ Jesus answered them, Is it not written in your law, I said, Ye are gods? ³⁵ If he called them gods, to whom the word of God came, and the scripture cannot be broken;

¹⁷ And take the helmet of salvation, and the sword of the Spirit, which is the word of God:

⁵ That the triumphing of the wicked is short, and the joy of the hypocrite but for a moment?

¹⁹ How are they brought into desolation, as in a moment! they are utterly consumed with terrors.

³⁰ Hereafter I will not talk much with you: for the prince of this world cometh, and hath nothing in me.

¹⁴ And no wonder; for Satan himself is transformed into an angel of light.

³⁹ And when they had performed all things according to the law of the Lord, they returned into Galilee, to their own city Nazareth.

²¹ And he began to say to them, This day is this scripture fulfilled in your ears.

²⁰ Jesus answered him, I spoke openly to the world; I ever taught in the synagogue and in the temple, whither the Jews always resort; and in secret have I said nothing.

¹⁴ But when they departed from Perga, they came to Antioch in Pisidia, and went into the synagogue on the sabbath, and sat down. ¹⁵ And after the reading of the law and the prophets, the rulers of the synagogue sent to them, saying, Men, brethren, if ye have any word of exhortation for the people, speak. ¹⁶ Then Paul stood up, and beckoning with his hand, said, Men of Israel, and ye that fear God, give audience.

² And Paul, as his manner was, went in to them, and on three sabbaths reasoned with them out of the scriptures,

¹ The Spirit of the Lord GOD is upon me; because the LORD hath anointed me to publish good tidings to the meek; he hath sent me to bind up the broken-hearted, to proclaim liberty to the captives, and the opening of the prison to them that are bound; ² To proclaim the acceptable year of the LORD, and the day of vengeance of our God; to comfort all that mourn; ³ To appoint to them that mourn in Zion, to give to them beauty for ashes, the oil of joy for mourning, the garment of praise for the spirit of heaviness; that they may be called trees of righteousness, the planting of the LORD, that he may be glorified.

⁴² And David himself saith in the book of Psalms, The LORD said to my Lord, Sit thou on my right hand,

⁴² Then God turned, and gave them up to worship the host of heaven; as it is written in the book of the prophets, O ye house of Israel, have ye offered to me slain beasts and sacrifices during forty years in the wilderness?

¹⁵ And after the reading of the law and the prophets, the rulers of the synagogue sent to them, saying, Men, brethren, if ye have any word of exhortation for the people, speak.

²⁷ For they that dwell at Jerusalem, and their rulers, because they knew him not, nor yet the words of the prophets which are read every sabbath, they have fulfilled them in condemning him.

²⁷ Because thy heart was tender, and thou didst humble thyself before God, when thou didst hear his words against this place, and against its inhabitants, and didst humble thyself before me, and didst rend thy clothes, and weep before me; I have even heard thee also, saith the LORD.

² The kings of the earth set themselves, and the rulers take counsel together, against the LORD, and against his anointed, saying,

⁶ Yet have I set my king upon my holy hill of Zion.

¹⁸ (34:17)The righteous cry, and the LORD heareth, and delivereth them out of all their troubles.

⁷ (45:6)Thy throne, O God, is for ever and ever: the scepter of thy kingdom is a scepter of justice.

¹⁷ (51:15)O Lord, open thou my lips; and my mouth shall show forth thy praise.

²⁰ (102:19)For he hath looked down from the hight of his sanctuary; from heaven hath the LORD beheld the earth;

¹⁰ Such as sit in darkness and in the shades of death, being bound in affliction and iron; ¹¹ Because they rebelled against the words of God, and contemned the counsel of the Most High: ¹² Therefore he brought down their heart with labor; they fell down, and there was none to help. ¹³ Then they cried to the LORD in their trouble, and he saved them out of their distresses. ¹⁴ He brought them out of darkness and the shades of death, and broke their bands asunder. ¹⁵ Oh that men would praise the LORD for his goodness, and for his wonderful works to the children of men! ¹⁶ For he hath broken the gates of brass, and cut the bars of iron asunder.

⁷ Who executeth judgment for the oppressed: who giveth food to the hungry. The LORD looseth the prisoners: ⁸ The LORD openeth the eyes of the blind: the LORD raiseth them that are bowed down: the LORD loveth the righteous:

³ He healeth the broken in heart, and bindeth up their wounds.

² And the spirit of the LORD will rest upon him, the spirit of wisdom and understanding, the spirit of counsel and might, the spirit of knowledge and of the fear of the LORD; ³ And will make him of quick understanding in the fear of the LORD: and he will not judge after the sight of his eyes, neither reprove after the hearing of his ears: ⁴ But with righteousness will he judge the poor, and reprove with equity for the meek of the earth: and he will smite the earth with the rod of his mouth, and with the breath of his lips will he slay the wicked. ⁵ And righteousness shall be the girdle of his loins, and faithfulness the girdle of his reins.

¹⁸ And in that day shall the deaf hear the words of the book, and the eyes of the blind shall see out of obscurity, and out of darkness. ¹⁹ The meek also shall increase their joy in the LORD, and the poor among men shall rejoice in the Holy One of Israel.

³ And the eyes of them that see shall not be dim, and the ears of them that hear shall hearken.

⁵ Then the eyes of the blind shall be opened, and the ears of the deaf shall be unstopped.

¹ Behold my servant, whom I uphold; my elect, in whom my soul delighteth; I have put my spirit upon him: he shall bring forth judgment to the Gentiles. ² He shall not cry, nor lift up, nor cause his voice to be heard in the street. ³ A bruised reed shall he not break, and the smoking flax shall he not quench: he shall bring forth judgment to truth. ⁴ He shall not fail nor be discouraged, till he hath set judgment in the earth: and the isles shall wait for his law.

⁷ To open the blind eyes, to bring out the prisoners from the prison, and them that sit in darkness out of the prison-house.

¹⁶ And I will bring the blind by a way that they knew not; I will lead them in paths that they have not known: I will make darkness light before them, and crooked things straight. These things will I do for them, and not forsake them. ¹⁷ They shall be turned back, they shall be greatly ashamed, that trust in graven images, that say to the molten images, Ye are our gods. ¹⁸ Hear, ye deaf; and look, ye blind, that ye may see.

¹³ I have raised him up in righteousness, and I will direct all his ways: he shall build my city, and he shall let go my captives, not for price nor reward, saith the LORD of hosts.

⁹ That thou mayest say to the prisoners, Go forth; to them that are in darkness, Show yourselves. They shall feed in the ways, and their pastures shall be in all high places.

²⁴ Shall the prey be taken from the mighty, or the lawful captive delivered? ²⁵ But thus saith the LORD, Even the captives of the mighty shall be taken away, and the prey of the terrible shall be delivered: for I will contend with him that contendeth with thee, and I will save thy children.

⁴ The Lord GOD hath given me the tongue of the learned, that I should know how to speak a word in season to him that is weary: he wakeneth morning by morning, he wakeneth my ear to hear as the learned.

² Shake thyself from the dust; arise, and sit down, O Jerusalem: loose thyself from the bands of thy neck, O captive daughter of Zion. ³ For thus saith the LORD, Ye have sold yourselves for naught; and ye shall be redeemed without money.

¹⁵ For thus saith the high and lofty One that inhabiteth eternity, whose name is Holy; I dwell in the high and holy place, with him also that is of a contrite and humble spirit, to revive the spirit of the humble, and to revive the heart of the contrite ones.

²¹ As for me, this is my covenant with them, saith the LORD; My spirit that is upon thee, and my words which I have put in thy mouth, shall not depart out of thy mouth, nor out of the mouth of thy seed, nor out of the mouth of thy seed's seed, saith the LORD, from henceforth and for ever.

² For all these things hath my hand made, and all these things have been, saith the LORD: but to this man will I look, even to him that is poor and of a contrite spirit, and trembleth at my word.

⁴ And the LORD said to him, Go through the midst of the city, through the midst of Jerusalem, and set a mark upon the foreheads of the men that sigh and that cry for all the abominations that are done in the midst of it.

²⁴ Seventy weeks are determined upon thy people and upon thy holy city to finish the transgression, and to make an end of sins, and to make reconciliation for iniquity, and to bring in everlasting righteousness, and to seal up the vision and prophecy, and to anoint the most Holy.

¹² I will also leave in the midst of thee an afflicted and poor people, and they shall trust in the name of the LORD.

¹¹ As for thee also, by the blood of thy covenant I have sent forth thy prisoners out of the pit in which is no water. ¹² Turn ye to the strong hold, ye prisoners of hope: even to-day do I declare that I will render double to thee;

¹¹ And it was broken in that day: and so the poor of the flock that waited upon me knew that it was the word of the LORD.

² But to you that fear my name, shall the Sun of righteousness arise with healing in his wings; and ye shall go forth, and grow up as calves of the stall.

¹⁶ The people who sat in darkness, saw great light; and to them who sat in the region and shades of death, light hath arisen.

³ Blessed are the poor in spirit: for theirs is the kingdom of heaven.

²⁷ And when Jesus departed thence, two blind men followed him, crying, and saying, Thou son of David, have mercy on us. ²⁸ And when he had come into the house, the blind men came to him: and Jesus saith to them, Believe ye that I am able to do this? They said to him, Yes, Lord. ²⁹ Then he touched their eyes, saying, According to your faith, be it to you. ³⁰ And their eyes were opened; and Jesus strictly charged them, saying, See that no man know it.

⁵ The blind receive their sight, and the lame walk, the lepers are cleansed, and the deaf hear, the dead are raised, and the poor have the gospel preached to them.

²⁰ A bruised reed shall he not break, and smoking flax shall he not quench, till he shall send forth judgment to victory.

²⁰ And he lifted up his eyes on his disciples, and said, Blessed are ye poor: for yours is the kingdom of God.

²² Then Jesus answering, said to them, Go, and tell John what things ye have seen and heard; that the blind see, the lame walk, lepers are cleansed, the deaf hear, the dead are raised, to the poor the gospel is preached.

⁴¹ He first findeth his own brother Simon, and saith to him, We have found the Messiah; which is, being interpreted, the Christ.

³⁹ And Jesus said, For judgment I am come into this world, that they who see not, may see; and that they who see, may be made blind. ⁴⁰ And some of the Pharisees who were with him heard these words, and said to him, Are we blind also? ⁴¹ Jesus said to them, If ye were blind, ye would have no sin: but now ye say, We see; therefore your sin remaineth.

⁴⁶ I am come a light into the world, that whoever believeth on me should not abide in darkness.

²⁷ For in truth against thy holy child Jesus, whom thou hast anointed, both Herod, and Pontius Pilate, with the Gentiles, and the people of Israel, were assembled,

¹⁸ To open their eyes, and to turn them from darkness to light, and from the power of Satan to God, that they may receive forgiveness of sins, and inheritance among them who are sanctified by faith that is in me.

⁸ For ye were sometime darkness, but now are ye light in the Lord: walk as children of light; ⁹ (For the fruit of the Spirit is in all goodness, and righteousness, and truth;) ¹⁰ Proving what is acceptable to the Lord. ¹¹ And have no fellowship with the unfruitful works of darkness, but rather reprove them. ¹² For it is a shame even to speak of those things which are done by them in secret. ¹³ But all things that are reproved, are made manifest by the light: for whatever doth make manifest is light. ¹⁴ Wherefore he saith, Awake, thou that sleepest, and arise from the dead, and Christ will give thee light.

¹³ Who hath delivered us from the power of darkness, and hath translated us into the kingdom of his beloved Son:

⁵ Ye are all children of light, and children of the day: we are not of the night, nor of darkness. ⁶ Therefore let us not sleep, as do others; but let us watch and be sober.

⁵ Hearken, my beloved brethren, Hath not God chosen the poor of this world rich in faith, and heirs of the kingdom which he hath promised to them that love him?

⁹ But ye are a chosen generation, a royal priesthood, a holy nation, a peculiar people; that ye should show forth the praises of him who hath called you out of darkness into his marvelous light:

⁸ Again, a new commandment I write to you, which thing is true in him and in you: because the darkness is past, and the true light now shineth. ⁹ He that saith he is in the light, and hateth his brother, is in darkness even until now. ¹⁰ He that loveth his brother abideth in the light, and there is no occasion of stumbling in him.

⁸ And thou shalt number seven sabbaths of years to thee, seven times seven years; and the space of the seven sabbaths of years shall be to thee forty and nine years. ⁹ Then shalt thou cause the trumpet of the jubilee to sound, on the tenth day of the seventh month, in the day of atonement shall ye make the trumpet sound throughout all your land. ¹⁰ And ye shall hallow the fiftieth year, and proclaim liberty throughout all the land to all its inhabitants: it shall be a jubilee to you; and ye shall return every man to his possession, and ye shall return every man to his family. ¹¹ A jubilee shall that fiftieth year be to you: ye shall not sow, neither reap that which groweth of itself in it, nor gather the grapes in it of thy vine undressed. ¹² For it is the jubilee; it shall be holy to you: ye shall eat the increase of it out of the field. ¹³ In the year of this jubilee ye shall return every man to his possession.

⁵⁰ And he shall reckon with him that bought him, from the year that he was sold to him, to the year of jubilee: and the price of his sale shall be according to the number of years, according to the time of a hired servant shall it be with him. ⁵¹ If there shall be yet many years behind, according to them he shall give again the price of his redemption out of the money that he was bought for. ⁵² And if there shall remain but few years to the year of jubilee, then he shall count with him, and according to his years shall he give him again the price of his redemption. ⁵³ And as a yearly hired servant shall he be with him: and the other shall not rule with rigor over him in thy sight. ⁵⁴ And if he shall not be redeemed in these years, then he shall go out in the year of jubilee, both he, and his children with him.

⁴ And when the jubilee of the children of Israel shall be, then will their inheritance be put to the inheritance of the tribe into which they are received: so shall their inheritance be taken away from the inheritance of the tribe of our fathers.

² To proclaim the acceptable year of the LORD, and the day of vengeance of our God; to comfort all that mourn;

⁴ For the day of vengeance is in my heart, and the year of my redeemed is come.

⁴² Saying, If thou hadst known, even thou, at least in this thy day, the things which belong to thy peace! but now they are hid from thy eyes.

¹ We then, as co-workers with him, beseech you also that ye receive not the grace of God in vain.

¹ And seeing the multitudes, he ascended a mountain: and when he was seated, his disciples came to him. ² And he opened his mouth, and taught them, saying,

¹ The same day Jesus went out of the house, and sat by the sea side. ² And great multitudes were gathered to him, so that he went into a boat, and sat down; and the whole multitude stood on the shore.

²⁶ But it shall not be so among you: but whoever will be great among you, let him be your minister; ²⁷ And whoever will be chief among you, let him be your servant: ²⁸ Even as the Son of man came not to be ministered to, but to minister, and to give his life a ransom for many.

⁵⁵ In that same hour said Jesus to the multitudes, Are ye come out as against a thief with swords and staffs to take me? I sat daily with you teaching in the temple, and ye laid no hold on me.

¹⁷ And there was delivered to him the book of the prophet Isaiah. And when he had opened the book, he found the place where it was written,

³ And he entered into one of the boats, which was Simon's, and prayed him that he would thrust out a little from the land. And he sat down, and taught the people out of the boat.

⁴⁸ And could not find what they might do: for all the people were very attentive to hear him.

² And early in the morning he came again into the temple, and all the people came to him; and he sat down and taught them.

¹² And when Peter saw it, he answered to the people, Ye men of Israel, why marvel ye at this? or why look ye so earnestly on us, as though by our own power or holiness we had made this man to walk?

¹³ And on the sabbath we went out of the city by a river side, where prayer was wont to be made; and we sat down, and spoke to the women who resorted thither.

¹⁴ And in them is fulfilled the prophecy of Isaiah, which saith, By hearing ye shall hear, and shall not understand; and seeing ye shall see, and shall not perceive:

²³ And he turned himself to his disciples, and said privately, Blessed are the eyes which see the things that ye see. ²⁴ For I tell you, that many prophets and kings have desired to see the things which ye see, and have not seen them; and to hear the things which ye hear, and have not heard them.

²⁵ The woman saith to him, I know that Messiah cometh, who is called Christ; when he is come, he will tell us all things. ²⁶ Jesus saith to her, I that speak to thee am he.

³⁹ Search the scriptures; for in them ye think ye have eternal life: and they are they which testify of me.

¹⁶ But this is that which was spoken by the prophet Joel, ¹⁷ And it shall come to pass in the last days, saith God, I will pour out of my Spirit upon all flesh: and your sons and your daughters shall prophesy, and your young men shall see visions, and your old men shall dream dreams: ¹⁸ And on my servants, and on my hand-maidens I will, in those days, pour out of my Spirit; and they shall prophesy:

²⁹ Men, brethren, let me freely speak to you concerning the patriarch David, that he is both dead and buried, and his sepulcher is with us to this day. ³⁰ Therefore being a prophet, and knowing that God had sworn to him with an oath, that from the fruit of his loins, according to the flesh, he would raise up Christ to sit on his throne; ³¹ He seeing this before, spoke of the resurrection of Christ, that his soul was not left in hell, neither did his flesh see corruption. ³² This Jesus hath God raised up, of which we all are witnesses. ³³ Therefore being by the right hand of God exalted, and having received from the Father the promise of the Holy Spirit, he hath shed forth this, which ye now see and hear.

¹⁸ But those things which God before had shown by the mouth of all his prophets, that Christ should suffer, he hath so fulfilled.

² (45:1)To the chief Musician upon Shoshannim, for the sons of Korah, Maschil, A Song of loves. My heart is inditing a good matter: I speak of the things which I have made concerning the king: my tongue is the pen of a ready writer.

⁴ (45:3)Gird thy sword upon thy thigh, O most mighty, with thy glory and thy majesty.

³² The lips of the righteous know what is acceptable: but the mouth of the wicked speaketh frowardness.

²¹ The wise in heart shall be called prudent: and the sweetness of the lips increaseth learning.

¹¹ A word fitly spoken is like apples of gold in pictures of silver.

¹⁰ The preacher sought to find out acceptable words: and that which was written was upright, even words of truth. ¹¹ The words of the wise are as goads, and as nails fastened by the masters of assemblies, which are given from one shepherd.

¹⁶ His mouth is most sweet: yes, he is altogether lovely. This is my beloved, and this is my friend, O daughters of Jerusalem.

⁵⁴ And when he had come into his own country, he taught them in their synagogue, so that they were astonished, and said, Whence hath this man this wisdom, and these mighty works? ⁵⁵ Is not this the carpenter's son? is not his mother called Mary? and his brethren, James, and Joses, and Simon, and Judas? ⁵⁶ And his sisters, are they not all with us? Whence then hath this man all these things?

⁴⁷ And all that heard him were astonished at his understanding and answers.

¹⁵ For I will give you a mouth and wisdom, which all your adversaries shall not be able to gainsay nor resist.

⁴² And they said, Is not this Jesus the son of Joseph, whose father and mother we know? how is it then that he saith, I came down from heaven?

⁴⁶ The officers answered, Never man spoke like this man.

¹⁰ And they were not able to resist the wisdom and the spirit by which he spoke.

⁸ Sound speech that cannot be condemned; that he that is of the contrary part may be ashamed, having no evil thing to say concerning you.

¹³ And leaving Nazareth, he came and dwelt in Capernaum, which is upon the sea coast, in the borders of Zabulon and Nephthalim;

²³ And thou, Capernaum, which art exalted to heaven, shalt be brought down to hell: for if the mighty works which have been done in thee, had been done in Sodom, it would have remained until this day. ²⁴ But I say to you, that it shall be more tolerable for the land of Sodom, in the day of judgment, than for thee.

²¹ And they went into Capernaum; and immediately on the sabbath he entered into the synagogue and taught. ²² And they were astonished at his doctrine: for he taught them as one that had authority, and not as the scribes. ²³ And there was in their synagogue a man with an unclean spirit; and he cried out, ²⁴ Saying, Let us alone; what have we to do with thee, thou Jesus of Nazareth? art thou come to destroy us? I know thee who thou art, the Holy One of God. ²⁵ And Jesus rebuked him, saying, Hold thy peace, and come out of him. ²⁶ And when the unclean spirit had torn him, and cried with a loud voice, he came out of him. ²⁷ And they were all amazed, so that they questioned among themselves, saying, What thing is this? what new doctrine is this? for with authority he commandeth even the unclean spirits, and they obey him. ²⁸ And immediately his fame spread abroad throughout all the region around Galilee.

¹ And again he entered into Capernaum, after some days; and it was understood that he was in the house. ² And forthwith many were assembled, so that there was no room to receive them, no not so much as about the door: and he preached the word to them. ³ And they come to him, bringing one sick with the palsy, who was borne by four. ⁴ And when they could not come nigh to him by reason of the crowd, they uncovered the roof where he was: and when they had broken it up, they let down the bed on which the sick with the palsy lay. ⁵ When Jesus saw their faith, he said to the sick with the palsy, Son, thy sins are forgiven thee. ⁶ But there were certain of the scribes sitting there, and reasoning in their hearts, ⁷ Why doth this man thus speak blasphemies? who can forgive sins but God only? ⁸ And immediately, when Jesus perceived in his spirit that they so reasoned within themselves, he said to them, Why reason ye these things in your hearts? ⁹ Which is easier, to say to the sick with the palsy, Thy sins are forgiven thee; or to say, Arise, and take up thy bed, and walk? ¹⁰ But that ye may know that the Son of man hath power on earth to forgive sins, he saith to the sick with the palsy, ¹¹ I say to thee, Arise, and take up thy bed, and go into thy house. ¹² And immediately he arose, took up the bed, and went forth before them all; so that they were all amazed, and glorified God, saying, We never saw it on this fashion.

¹ And he went out from thence, and came into his own country, and his disciples follow him.

⁴² Either how canst thou say to thy brother, Brother, let me pull out the mote that is in thy eye, when thou thyself beholdest not the beam that is in thy own eye? Thou hypocrite, cast out first the beam out of thy own eye, and then shalt thou see clearly to pull out the mote that is in thy brother's eye.

³ And when they wanted wine, the mother of Jesus saith to him, They have no wine. ⁴ Jesus saith to her, Woman, what have I to do with thee? my hour is not yet come.

²⁸ The woman then left her waterpot, and went into the city, and saith to the men,

⁴⁶ So Jesus came again into Cana of Galilee, where he made the water wine. And there was a certain nobleman, whose son was sick at Capernaum. ⁴⁷ When he heard that Jesus had come from Judea into Galilee, he went to him, and besought him that he would come down, and heal his son: for he was at the point of death. ⁴⁸ Then said Jesus to him, Except ye see signs and wonders, ye will not believe. ⁴⁹ The nobleman saith to him, Sir, come down ere my child dieth. ⁵⁰ Jesus saith to him, Go; thy son liveth. And the man believed the word that Jesus had spoken to him, and he departed. ⁵¹ And as he was now going down, his servants met him, and told him, saying, Thy son liveth. ⁵² Then he inquired of them the hour when he began to amend: and they said to him, Yesterday at the seventh hour the fever left him. ⁵³ So the father knew that it was at the same hour in which Jesus said to him, Thy son liveth: and he himself believed, and his whole house.

³ His brethren therefore said to him, Depart hence, and go into Judea, that thy disciples also may see the works that thou doest. ⁴ For there is no man that doeth any thing in secret, and he himself seeketh to be known openly. If thou doest these things, show thyself to the world.

²¹ Thou therefore who teachest another, teachest thou not thyself? thou that preachest a man should not steal, dost thou steal? ²² Thou that sayest a man should not commit adultery, dost thou commit adultery? thou that abhorrest idols, dost thou commit sacrilege?

³⁴ For who hath known the mind of the Lord? or who hath been his counselor? ³⁵ Or who hath first given to him, and it shall be recompensed to him again?

¹⁶ Wherefore henceforth we know no man according to the flesh: though indeed we have known Christ according to the flesh, yet now henceforth we know him no more.

⁵⁷ And they were offended in him. But Jesus said to them, A prophet is not without honor, save in his own country, and in his own house.

⁴ But Jesus said to them, A prophet is not without honor, but in his own country, and among his own kindred, and in his own house. ⁵ And he could there do no mighty work, save that he laid his hands upon a few sick persons, and healed them.

⁴¹ And many more believed, because of his own word;

⁴⁴ For Jesus himself testified that a prophet hath no honor in his own country.

³ I am verily a man who am a Jew, born in Tarsus, a city in Cilicia, yet brought up in this city at the feet of Gamaliel, and taught according to the perfect manner of the law of the fathers, being zealous towards God, as ye all are this day.

¹⁸ And saw him saying to me, Make haste, and depart quickly from Jerusalem; for they will not receive thy testimony concerning me. ¹⁹ And I said, Lord, they know that I imprisoned, and beat in every synagogue them that believed on thee: ²⁰ And when the blood of thy martyr Stephen was shed, I also was standing by, and consenting to his death, and kept the raiment of them that slew him. ²¹ And he said to me, Depart: for I will send thee far hence to the Gentiles. ²² And they gave him audience to this word, and then lifted up their voices, and said, Away with such a man from the earth: for it is not fit that he should live.

¹ And Elijah the Tishbite who was of the inhabitants of Gilead, said to Ahab, As the LORD God of Israel liveth, before whom I stand, there shall not be dew nor rain these years, but according to my word.

¹ And it came to pass after many days, that the word of the LORD came to Elijah in the third year, saying, Go, show thyself to Ahab; and I will send rain upon the earth. ² And Elijah went to show himself to Ahab. And there was a grievous famine in Samaria.

⁸ For my thoughts are not your thoughts, neither are your ways my ways, saith the LORD.

¹⁵ Is it not lawful for me to do what I will with my own? is thy eye evil because I am good?

²⁶ (The woman was a Greek, a Syrophenician by nation,) and she besought him that he would cast forth the demon out of her daughter. ²⁷ But Jesus said to her, Let the children first be satisfied: for it is not meet to take the children's bread, and to cast it to the dogs. ²⁸ And she answered and said to him, Yes, Lord: yet the dogs under the table eat of the children's crums. ²⁹ And he said to her, For this saying, depart; the demon is gone out of thy daughter.

²¹ In that hour Jesus rejoiced in spirit, and said, I thank thee, O Father, Lord of heaven and earth, that thou hast hid these things from the wise and prudent, and hast revealed them to babes: even so, Father; for so it seemed good in thy sight.

¹⁵ For he saith to Moses, I will have mercy on whom I will have mercy, and I will have compassion on whom I will have compassion.

²⁰ No, but, O man, who art thou that repliest against God? shall the thing formed say to him that formed it, Why hast thou made me thus?

⁹ Having made known to us the mystery of his will, according to his good pleasure which he hath purposed in himself:

¹¹ In whom also we have obtained an inheritance, being predestinated according to the purpose of him who worketh all things after the counsel of his own will:

¹⁷ Elijah was a man subject to like passions as we are, and he prayed earnestly that it might not rain: and it rained not on the earth by the space of three years and six months.

⁹ Arise, go to Zarephath, which belongeth to Zidon, and dwell there: behold, I have commanded a widow woman there to sustain thee. ¹⁰ So he arose and went to Zarephath. And when he came to the gate of the city, behold, the widow woman was there gathering sticks: and he called to her, and said, Bring me, I pray thee, a little water in a vessel, that I may drink. ¹¹ And as she was going to bring it, he called to her, and said, Bring me, I pray thee, a morsel of bread in thy hand. ¹² And she said, As the LORD thy God liveth, I have not a cake, but a handful of meal in a barrel, and a little oil in a cruse: and behold, I am gathering two sticks, that I may go in and dress it for me and my son, that we may eat it, and die. ¹³ And Elijah said to her, Fear not; go and do as thou hast said: but make me of it a little cake first, and bring it to me, and afterward make for thee and for thy son. ¹⁴ For thus saith the LORD God of Israel, The barrel of meal shall not waste, neither shall the cruse of oil fail, until the day that the LORD sendeth rain upon the earth. ¹⁵ And she went and did according to the saying of Elijah: and she, and he, and her house, did eat many days. ¹⁶ And the barrel of meal wasted not, neither did the cruse of oil fail, according to the word of the LORD, which he spoke by Elijah. ¹⁷ And it came to pass after these things that the son of the woman, the mistress of the house, fell sick; and his sickness was so severe, that there was no breath left in him. ¹⁸ And she said to Elijah, What have I to do with thee, O thou man of God? art thou come to me to call my sin to remembrance, and to slay my son? ¹⁹ And he said to her, Give me thy son. And he took him out of her bosom, and carried him up into a loft, where he abode, and laid him upon his own bed. ²⁰ And he cried to the LORD, and said, O LORD my God, hast thou also brought evil upon the widow with whom I sojourn, by slaying her son? ²¹ And he stretched himself upon the child three times, and cried to the LORD, and said, O LORD my God, I pray thee, let this child's soul come into him again. ²² And the LORD heard the voice of Elijah; and the soul of the child came into him again, and he revived. ²³ And Elijah took the child, and brought him down from the chamber into the house, and delivered him to his mother: and Elijah said, See, thy son liveth. ²⁴ And the woman said to Elijah, Now by this I know that thou art a man of God, and that the word of the LORD in thy mouth is truth.

²⁰ And the captivity of this host of the children of Israel shall possess that of the Canaanites, even to Zarephath; and the captivity of Jerusalem, which is in Sepharad, shall possess the cities of the south.

²¹ Woe to thee, Chorazin; woe to thee, Bethsaida: for if the mighty works which have been done in you had been done in Tyre and Sidon, they would have repented long ago in sackcloth and ashes.

¹⁹ So he departed thence, and found Elisha the son of Shaphat, who was plowing with twelve yoke of oxen before him, and he with the twelfth: and Elijah passed by him, and cast his mantle upon him. ²⁰ And he left the oxen, and ran after Elijah, and said, Let me, I pray thee, kiss my father and my mother, and then I will follow thee. And he said to him, Go back again: for what have I done to thee? ²¹ And he returned back from him, and took a yoke of oxen, and slew them, and boiled their flesh with the instruments of the oxen, and gave to the people, and they ate. Then he arose, and went after Elijah, and ministered to him.

¹ Now Naaman, captain of the army of the king of Syria, was a great man with his master, and honorable, because by him the LORD had given deliverance to Syria: he was also a mighty man in valor, but he was a leper. ² And the Syrians had gone out by companies, and had brought away captive out of the land of Israel a little maid; and she waited on Naaman's wife. ³ And she said to her mistress, I would that my lord were with the prophet that is in Samaria! for he would recover him of his leprosy. ⁴ And one went in, and told his lord, saying, Thus and thus said the maid that is of the land of Israel. ⁵ And the king of Syria said, Come, go, and I will send a letter to the king of Israel. And he departed, and took with him ten talents of silver, and six thousand pieces of gold, and ten changes of raiment. ⁶ And he brought the letter to the king of Israel, saying, Now when this letter hath come to thee, behold, I have with this sent Naaman my servant to thee, that thou mayest recover him of his leprosy. ⁷ And it came to pass, when the king of Israel had read the letter, that he rent his clothes, and said, Am I God, to kill and to make alive, that this man doth send to me to recover a man of his leprosy? wherefore consider, I pray you, and see how he seeketh a quarrel against me. ⁸ And it was so, when Elisha the man of God had heard that the king of Israel had rent his clothes, that he sent to the king, saying, Why hast thou rent thy clothes? let him come now to me, and he shall know that there is a prophet in Israel. ⁹ So Naaman came with his horses and with his chariot, and stood at the door of the house of Elisha. ¹⁰ And Elisha sent a messenger to him, saying, Go and wash in Jordan seven times, and thy flesh shall come again to thee, and thou shalt be clean. ¹¹ But Naaman was wroth, and went away, and said, Behold, I thought, He will surely come out to me, and stand, and call on the name of the LORD his God, and strike his hand over the place, and recover the leper. ¹² Are not Abana and Pharpar, rivers of Damascus, better than all the waters of Israel? may I not wash in them, and be clean? So he turned and went away in a rage. ¹³ And his servants came near, and spoke to him, and said, My father, if the prophet had bid thee do some great thing, wouldst thou not have done it? how much rather then, when he saith to thee, Wash, and be clean? ¹⁴ Then he went down, and dipped himself seven times in Jordan, according to the saying of the man of God: and his flesh came again like the flesh of a little child, and he was clean. ¹⁵ And he returned to the man of God, he and all his company, and came and stood before him: and he said, Behold, now I know that there is no God in all the earth, but in Israel: now therefore, I pray thee, take a blessing from thy servant. ¹⁶ But he said, As the LORD liveth, before whom I stand, I will receive none. And he urged him to take it; but he refused. ¹⁷ And Naaman said, Shall there not then, I pray thee, be given to thy servant two mules burden of earth? for thy servant will henceforth offer neither burnt-offering nor sacrifice to other gods, but to the LORD. ¹⁸ In this thing the LORD pardon thy servant, that when my master goeth into the house of Rimmon to worship there, and he leaneth on my hand, and I bow myself in the house of Rimmon: when I bow down myself in the house of Rimmon, the LORD pardon thy servant in this thing. ¹⁹ And he said to him, Go in peace. So he departed from him a little way. ²⁰ But Gehazi, the servant of Elisha the man of God, said, Behold, my master hath spared Naaman this Syrian, in not receiving at his hands that which he brought: but as the LORD liveth, I will run after him, and take somewhat from him. ²¹ So Gehazi followed after Naaman. And when Naaman saw him running after him, he lighted down from the chariot to meet him, and said, Is all well? ²² And he said, All is well. My master hath sent me, saying, Behold, even now there have come to me from mount Ephraim two young men of the sons of the prophets: give them, I pray thee, a talent of silver, and two changes of garments. ²³ And Naaman said, Be content, take two talents. And he urged him, and bound two talents of silver in two bags, with two changes of garments, and laid them upon two of his servants; and they bore them before him. ²⁴ And when he came to the tower, he took them from their hand, and bestowed them in the house: and he let the men go, and they departed. ²⁵ But he went in, and stood before his master: and Elisha said to him, Whence comest thou Gehazi? and he said, Thy servant went no whither. ²⁶ And he said to him, Went not my heart with thee, when the man turned again from his chariot to meet thee? Is it a time to receive money, and to receive garments, and olive-yards, and vineyards, and sheep, and oxen, and men-servants, and maid-servants? ²⁷ The leprosy therefore of Naaman shall cleave to thee, and to thy seed for ever. And he went out from his presence a leper as white as snow.

²² Shall any teach God knowledge? seeing he judgeth those that are high.

¹³ Why dost thou strive against him? for he giveth not account of any of his matters.

²³ Who hath enjoined him his way? or who can say, Thou hast wrought iniquity?

³⁵ And all the inhabitants of the earth are reputed as nothing: and he doeth according to his will in the army of heaven, and among the inhabitants of the earth: and none can stay his hand, or say to him, What doest thou?

⁴ How he entered into the house of God, and ate the show-bread, which it was not lawful for him to eat, neither for them who were with him, but only for the priests?

¹² While I was with them in the world, I kept them in thy name: those that thou gavest to me I have kept, and none of them is lost but the son of perdition; that the scripture might be fulfilled.

¹⁰ Then Asa was wroth with the seer, and put him in a prison house; for he was in a rage with him because of this thing. And Asa oppressed some of the people the same time.

²⁰ And the Spirit of God came upon Zechariah the son of Jehoiada the priest, who stood above the people, and said to them, Thus saith God, Why transgress ye the commandments of the LORD, that ye cannot prosper? because ye have forsaken the LORD, he hath also forsaken you. ²¹ And they conspired against him, and stoned him with stones at the commandment of the king in the court of the house of the LORD.

¹⁵ Wherefore the princes were wroth with Jeremiah, and beat him, and put him in prison in the house of Jonathan the scribe: for they had made that the prison. ¹⁶ When Jeremiah had entered into the dungeon, and into the cabins, and Jeremiah had remained there many days;

⁶ Then they took Jeremiah, and cast him into the dungeon of Malchiah the son of Hammelech, that was in the court of the prison: and they let down Jeremiah with cords. And in the dungeon there was no water, but mire: so Jeremiah sunk in the mire.

¹¹ And they were filled with madness; and communed one with another what they might do to Jesus.

⁵³ And as he said these things to them, the scribes and the Pharisees began to urge him vehemently, and to solicit him to speak of many things; ⁵⁴ Laying wait for him, and seeking to catch something from his mouth, that they might accuse him.

³³ When they heard that, they were cut to the heart, and took counsel to slay them.

²¹ And he said to me, Depart: for I will send thee far hence to the Gentiles. ²² And they gave him audience to this word, and then lifted up their voices, and said, Away with such a man from the earth: for it is not fit that he should live. ²³ And as they cried out, and cast off their clothes, and threw dust into the air,

¹⁵ Who both killed the Lord Jesus, and their own prophets, and have persecuted us; and they please not God, and are contrary to all men: ¹⁶ Forbidding us to speak to the Gentiles that they may be saved, to fill up their sins always: for the wrath is come upon them to the uttermost.

³⁵ And the LORD said to Moses, The man shall surely be put to death: all the congregation shall stone him with stones without the camp.

¹² And other ten thousand left alive the children of Judah carried away captive, and brought them to the top of the rock, and cast them down from the top of the rock, that they were all broken in pieces.

¹⁴ The wicked have drawn out the sword, and have bent their bow, to cast down the poor and needy, and to slay such as are of upright deportment.

³² The wicked watcheth the righteous, and seeketh to slay him. ³³ The LORD will not leave him in his hand, nor condemn him when he is judged.

³⁷ I know that ye are Abraham's offspring; but ye seek to kill me, because my word hath no place in you.

⁴⁰ But now ye seek to kill me, a man that hath told you the truth, which I have heard from God: this did not Abraham.

⁵⁹ Then they took up stones to cast at him: but Jesus hid himself, and went out of the temple, going through the midst of them, and so passed by.

²⁴ If I had not done among them the works which no other man hath done, they had not had sin: but now have they both seen, and hated both me and my Father. ²⁵ But this cometh to pass, that the word might be fulfilled that is written in their law, They hated me without a cause.

⁵⁷ Then they cried out with a loud voice, and stopped their ears, and ran upon him with one accord, ⁵⁸ And cast him out of the city, and stoned him: and the witnesses laid down their clothes at a young man's feet, whose name was Saul.

²³ And when they had laid many stripes upon them, they cast them into prison, charging the jailer to keep them safely. ²⁴ Who, having received such a charge, thrust them into the inner prison, and made their feet fast in the stocks.

²⁸ Crying out, Men of Israel, help. This is the man that teacheth all men every where against the people, and the law, and this place: and further, hath brought Greeks also into the temple; and hath polluted this holy place. ²⁹ (For they had seen before with him in the city, Trophimus, an Ephesian, whom they supposed that Paul had brought into the temple.) ³⁰ And all the city was moved, and the people ran together: and they took Paul and drew him out of the temple. And forthwith the doors were shut. ³¹ And as they went about to kill him, tidings came to the chief captain of the band, that all Jerusalem was in an uproar. ³² Who immediately took soldiers and centurions, and ran down to them. And when they saw the chief captain and the soldiers, they left beating Paul.

¹² Wherefore Jesus also, that he might sanctify the people with his own blood, suffered without the gate.

³⁹ Therefore they sought again to take him; but he escaped from their hand,

⁶ As soon then as he had said to them, I am he, they went backward, and fell to the ground. ⁷ Then he asked them again, Whom seek ye? And they said, Jesus of Nazareth.

¹⁸ Now as soon as it was day, there was no small stir among the soldiers, what was become of Peter.

²³ But when they persecute you in this city, flee ye into another: for verily I say to you, Ye shall not have gone over the cities of Israel till the Son of man shall have come.

²³ And he said to them, Ye will surely say to me this proverb, Physician, heal thyself: whatever we have heard done in Capernaum, do also here in thy country.

⁵⁰ But the Jews stirred up the devout and honorable women, and the chief men of the city, and raised persecution against Paul and Barnabas, and expelled them from their borders.

⁶ Being apprised of it, they fled to Lystra and Derbe, cities of Lycaonia, and to the region in that vicinity. ⁷ And there they preached the gospel.

¹⁹ And there came thither certain Jews from Antioch, and Iconium, who persuaded the people, and having stoned Paul, drew him out of the city, supposing him to be dead. ²⁰ But as the disciples stood around him, he rose, and came into the city: and the next day he departed with Barnabas to Derbe. ²¹ And when they had preached the gospel to that city, and had taught many, they returned again to Lystra, and to Iconium, and to Antioch,

¹ Now when they had passed through Amphipolis, and Apollonia, they came to Thessalonica, where was a synagogue of the Jews. ² And Paul, as his manner was, went in to them, and on three sabbaths reasoned with them out of the scriptures, ³ Opening and alledging, that it was needful that Christ should suffer, and rise again from the dead; and that this Jesus, whom I preach to you, is Christ.

¹⁰ And the brethren immediately sent away Paul and Silas by night to Berea: who coming thither, went into the synagogue of the Jews. ¹¹ These were more noble than those in Thessalonica, in that they received the word with all readiness of mind, and searched the scriptures daily, whether those things were so.

¹⁶ Now, while Paul waited for them at Athens, his spirit was stirred in him, when he saw the city wholly given to idolatry. ¹⁷ Therefore he disputed in the synagogue with the Jews, and with the devout persons, and in the market daily with them that met with him.

⁴ And he reasoned in the synagogue every sabbath, and persuaded the Jews and the Greeks.

¹ And after the uproar had ceased, Paul called to him the disciples, and embraced them, and departed to go into Macedonia. ² And when he had gone over those parts, and had given them much exhortation, he came into Greece,

²³ Save that the Holy Spirit testifieth in every city, saying, that bonds and afflictions abide me. ²⁴ But none of these things move me, neither count I my life dear to myself, so that I may finish my course with joy, and the ministry which I have received from the Lord Jesus, to testify the gospel of the grace of God.

²⁸ The prophet that hath a dream, let him tell a dream; and he that hath my word, let him speak my word faithfully. What is the chaff to the wheat? saith the LORD? ²⁹ Is not my word like a fire? saith the LORD? and like a hammer that breaketh the rock in pieces?

²⁸ And it came to pass when Jesus had ended these sayings, the people were astonished at his doctrine. ²⁹ For he taught them as one having authority, and not as the scribes.

²² And they were astonished at his doctrine: for he taught them as one that had authority, and not as the scribes.

³⁶ And they were all amazed, and spoke among themselves, saying, What a word is this! for with authority and power he commandeth the unclean spirits, and they come out.

⁶³ It is the spirit that reviveth; the flesh profiteth nothing: the words that I speak to you, they are spirit, and they are life.

⁴ And my speech and my preaching was not with enticing words of man's wisdom, but in demonstration of the Spirit, and of power: ⁵ That your faith should not stand in the wisdom of men, but in the power of God.

²⁴ But if all prophesy, and there come in one that believeth not, or one unlearned, he is convinced by all, he is judged by all: ²⁵ And thus are the secrets of his heart made manifest; and so falling down on his face, he will worship God, and report that God is in you in truth.

² But have renounced the hidden things of dishonesty; not walking in craftiness, nor handling the word of God deceitfully; but, by manifestation of the truth, commending ourselves to every man's conscience in the sight of God.

⁴ (For the weapons of our warfare are not carnal, but mighty through God to the pulling down of strong holds;) ⁵ Casting down imaginations, and every high thing that exalteth itself against the knowledge of God, and bringing into captivity every thought to the obedience of Christ;

⁵ For our gospel came not to you in word only, but also in power, and in the Holy Spirit, and in much assurance; as ye know what manner of men we were among you for your sake.

¹⁵ These things speak, and exhort, and rebuke with all authority. Let no man despise thee.

¹² For the word of God is living, and powerful, and sharper than any two-edged sword, piercing even to the dividing asunder of soul and spirit, and of the joints and marrow, and is a discerner of the thoughts and intents of the heart. ¹³ Neither is there any creature that is not manifest in his sight: but all things are naked and opened to the eyes of him with whom we have to do.

²³ And there was in their synagogue a man with an unclean spirit; and he cried out,

¹⁰ For thou wilt not leave my soul in hell; neither wilt thou suffer thy Holy One to see corruption.

²⁴ Saying, Let us alone; what have we to do with thee, thou Jesus of Nazareth? art thou come to destroy us? I know thee who thou art, the Holy One of God.

³⁴ And he healed many that were sick with divers diseases, and cast out many demons; and suffered not the demons to speak, because they knew him.

⁷ And cried with a loud voice, and said, What have I to do with thee, Jesus, thou Son of the Most High God? I adjure thee by God, that thou torment me not.

³⁵ And the angel answered and said to her, The Holy Spirit will come upon thee, and the power of the Highest will overshadow thee: therefore also that holy thing which shall be born of thee shall be called the Son of God.

⁴¹ And demons also came out of many, crying out, and saying, Thou art Christ the Son of God. And he rebuking them, suffered them not to speak: for they knew that he was Christ.

³⁷ Then the whole multitude of the surrounding country of the Gadarenes, besought him to depart from them: for they were taken with great fear. And he went into the boat, and returned.

²⁷ Because thou wilt not leave my soul in hell, neither wilt thou suffer thy Holy One to see corruption:

¹⁴ But ye denied the Holy One, and the Just, and desired a murderer to be granted to you,

³⁹ And they came and besought them, and brought them out, and desired them to depart out of the city.

¹⁴ Since then the children are partakers of flesh and blood, he also himself likewise took part of the same; that through death he might destroy him that had the power of death, that is, the devil;

¹⁹ Thou believest that there is one God; thou doest well: the demons also believe, and tremble.

⁸ He that committeth sin is of the devil; for the devil sinneth from the beginning. For this purpose the Son of God was manifested, that he might destroy the works of the devil.

⁷ And to the angel of the church in Philadelphia write; These things saith he that is holy, he that is true, he that hath the key of David, he that openeth, and no man shutteth; and shutteth, and no man openeth:

² And he laid hold on the dragon, that old serpent, which is the Devil, and Satan, and bound him a thousand years.

¹⁶ But to the wicked God saith, What hast thou to do to declare my statutes, or that thou shouldest take my covenant in thy mouth?

² And the LORD said to Satan, The LORD rebuke thee, O Satan; even the LORD that hath chosen Jerusalem rebuke thee: is not this a brand plucked out of the fire?

²⁶ And he saith to them, Why are ye fearful, O ye of little faith? Then he arose, and rebuked the winds and the sea; and there was a great calm.

¹⁸ And Jesus rebuked the demon, and he departed out of him: and the child was cured from that very hour.

²⁶ And when the unclean spirit had torn him, and cried with a loud voice, he came out of him.

¹¹ And unclean spirits, when they saw him, fell down before him, and cried, saying, Thou art the Son of God. ¹² And he strictly charged them, that they should not make him known.

²⁶ And the spirit cried, and rent him severely, and came out of him: and he was as one dead; so that many said, He is dead.

³⁹ And he stood over her, and rebuked the fever; and it left her: and immediately she arose and ministered to them.

²⁴ And they came to him, and awoke him, saying, Master, master, we perish. Then he arose, and rebuked the wind, and the raging of the water: and they ceased, and there was a calm.

³⁹ And lo, a spirit taketh him, and he suddenly crieth out; and it teareth him that he foameth, and bruising him, hardly departeth from him.

⁴² And as he was yet coming, the demon threw him down, and tore him. And Jesus rebuked the unclean spirit, and healed the child, and delivered him again to his father.

²² But when a stronger than he shall come upon him, and overcome him, he taketh from him all his armor in which he trusted, and divideth his spoils.

¹⁷ The same followed Paul and us, and cried, saying, These men are the servants of the most high God, who show to us the way of salvation. ¹⁸ And this she did many days. But Paul being grieved, turned and said to the spirit, I command thee in the name of Jesus Christ to come out of her. And he came out the same hour.

¹² Therefore rejoice, ye heavens, and ye that dwell in them. Woe to the inhabiters of the earth, and of the sea! for the devil is come down to you, having great wrath, because he knoweth that he hath but a short time.

³³ And when the demon was cast out, the dumb spoke: and the multitudes marveled, saying, It was never so seen in Israel.

²² Then was brought to him one possessed with a demon, blind and dumb; and he healed him, so that the blind and dumb both spoke and saw. ²³ And all the people were amazed, and said, Is not this the son of David?

³⁷ And were beyond measure astonished, saying, He hath done all things well; he maketh both the deaf to hear, and the dumb to speak.

¹⁷ And these signs shall follow them that believe: In my name shall they cast out demons; they shall speak in new languages; ¹⁸ They shall take up serpents; and if they drink any deadly thing, it shall not hurt them; they shall lay hands on the sick, and they shall recover. ¹⁹ So then after the Lord had spoken to them, he was received up into heaven, and sat on the right hand of God. ²⁰ And they went forth, and preached every where, the Lord working with them, and confirming the word with signs following. Amen.

³² And they were astonished at his doctrine: for his word was with power.

¹⁷ And the seventy returned with joy, saying, Lord, even the demons are subject to us through thy name. ¹⁸ And he said to them, I beheld Satan as lightning fall from heaven. ¹⁹ Behold, I give to you power to tread on serpents and scorpions, and over all the power of the enemy: and nothing shall by any means hurt you. ²⁰ Notwithstanding in this rejoice not, that the spirits are subject to you; but rather rejoice, because your names are written in heaven.

¹² So that from his body were brought to the sick, handkerchiefs, or aprons, and the diseases departed from them, and the evil spirits went out of them. ¹³ Then certain of the vagabond Jews, exorcists, took upon them to call over them who had evil spirits, the name of the Lord Jesus, saying, We adjure you by Jesus whom Paul preacheth. ¹⁴ And there were seven sons of one Sceva a Jew, and chief of the priests, who did so. ¹⁵ And the evil spirit answered and said, Jesus I know, and Paul I know; but who are ye? ¹⁶ And the man in whom the evil spirit was, leaped on them, and overcame them, and prevailed against them, so that they fled out of that house naked and wounded.

²² Who is gone into heaven, and is on the right hand of God; angels, and authorities, and powers being made subject to him.

¹³ Behold, my servant shall deal prudently, he shall be exalted and extolled, and be very high.

¹⁴ And king Herod heard of him (for his name was spread abroad:) and he said, That John the Baptist had risen from the dead, and therefore mighty works do show forth themselves in him.

¹⁴ And when Jesus had come into Peter's house, he saw his wife's mother laid, and sick with a fever. ¹⁵ And he touched her hand, and the fever left her: and she arose, and ministered to them.

²³ But he answered her not a word. And his disciples came and besought him, saying, Send her away; for she crieth after us.

²⁹ And forthwith, when they had come out of the synagogue, they entered into the house of Simon and Andrew, with James and John. ³⁰ But the mother of Simon's wife lay sick with a fever; and forthwith they tell him of her. ³¹ And he came and took her by the hand, and lifted her up; and immediately the fever left her, and she ministered to them.

³ And when he heard of Jesus, he sent to him the elders of the Jews, beseeching him that he would come and heal his servant. ⁴ And when they came to Jesus, they besought him earnestly, saying, That he was worthy for whom he should do this:

³ Therefore his sisters sent to him, saying, Lord, behold, he whom thou lovest is sick.

²² But I know that even now, whatever thou wilt ask of God, God will give it thee.

⁵ Have we not power to lead about a sister, a wife, as well as other apostles, and as the brethren of the Lord, and Cephas?

¹⁴ Is any sick among you? let him call for the elders of the church; and let them pray over him, anointing him with oil in the name of the Lord: ¹⁵ And the prayer of faith will save the sick, and the Lord will raise him up; and if he hath committed sins, they will be forgiven him.

¹² What shall I render to the LORD for all his benefits towards me?

³⁵ And Jesus rebuked him, saying, Hold thy peace, and come out of him. And when the demon had thrown him in the midst, he came out of him, and hurt him not.

² And certain women, who had been healed of evil spirits and infirmities, Mary called Magdalene, out of whom went seven demons. ³ And Joanna the wife of Chuza Herod's steward, and Susanna, and many others, who ministered to him of their substance.

¹⁴ For the love of Christ constraineth us; because we thus judge, that if one died for all, then were all dead: ¹⁵ And that he died for all, that they who live should not henceforth live to themselves, but to him who died for them, and rose again.

²³ And Jesus went about all Galilee, teaching in their synagogues, and preaching the gospel of the kingdom, and healing all manner of sickness, and all manner of disease among the people. ²⁴ And his fame spread throughout all Syria: and they brought to him all sick people that were taken with diverse diseases and torments, and those who were possessed with demons, and those who were lunatic, and those that had the palsy; and he healed them.

¹⁶ When the evening was come, they brought to him many that were possessed with demons: and he cast out the spirits with his word, and healed all that were sick; ¹⁷ That it might be fulfilled which was spoken by Isaiah the prophet, saying, He himself took our infirmities, and bore our sicknesses.

¹³ When Jesus heard of it, he departed thence in a boat, into a desert place apart: and when the people had heard of it, they followed him on foot out of the cities.

³² And at evening, when the sun had set, they brought to him all that were diseased, and them that were possessed with demons. ³³ And all the city was gathered at the door. ³⁴ And he healed many that were sick with divers diseases, and cast out many demons; and suffered not the demons to speak, because they knew him.

¹⁰ For he had healed many; so that they pressed upon him to touch him, as many as had diseases.

²³ And besought him greatly, saying, My little daughter lieth at the point of death: I pray thee, come and lay thy hands on her, that she may be healed; and she will live.

⁵ And he could there do no mighty work, save that he laid his hands upon a few sick persons, and healed them.

⁵⁵ And ran through that whole region around, and began to carry about in beds those that were sick, where they heard he was. ⁵⁶ And whithersoever he entered, into villages, or cities, or country, they laid the sick in the streets, and besought him that they might touch, if it were but the border of his garment: and as many as touched him, were healed.

²¹ And in that same hour he cured many of their infirmities, and diseases, and of evil spirits; and to many that were blind he gave sight. ²² Then Jesus answering, said to them, Go, and tell John what things ye have seen and heard; that the blind see, the lame walk, lepers are cleansed, the deaf hear, the dead are raised, to the poor the gospel is preached. ²³ And blessed is he, to whom I shall not be a stumbling block.

¹⁵ So that they brought forth the sick into the streets, and laid them on beds and couches, that at the least the shadow of Peter passing by might overshadow some of them.

¹² So that from his body were brought to the sick, handkerchiefs, or aprons, and the diseases departed from them, and the evil spirits went out of them.

⁶³ But Jesus held his peace. And the high priest answered and said to him, I adjure thee by the living God, that thou tell us whether thou art the Christ the Son of God.

²⁵ And Jesus rebuked him, saying, Hold thy peace, and come out of him.

¹¹ And unclean spirits, when they saw him, fell down before him, and cried, saying, Thou art the Son of God.

³⁴ Saying, Let us alone; what have we to do with thee, Jesus of Nazareth? art thou come to destroy us? I know thee who thou art, the Holy One of God. ³⁵ And Jesus rebuked him, saying, Hold thy peace, and come out of him. And when the demon had thrown him in the midst, he came out of him, and hurt him not.

³¹ But these are written, that ye may believe that Jesus is the Christ, the Son of God, and that believing ye may have life through his name.

³⁵ And in the morning, rising a great while before day, he went out and departed into a solitary place, and there prayed. ³⁶ And Simon, and they that were with him, followed after him. ³⁷ And when they had found him, they said to him, All men seek for thee. ³⁸ And he said to them, Let us go into the next towns, that I may preach there also: for, for this purpose have I come.

³³ And the people saw them departing, and many knew him, and ran on foot thither out of all cities, and out went them, and came together to him. ³⁴ And Jesus, when he came out, saw many people, and was moved with compassion towards them, because they were as sheep not having a shepherd: and he began to teach them many things.

¹² And it came to pass in those days, that he went out to a mountain to pray, and continued all night in prayer to God.

³⁷ Then the whole multitude of the surrounding country of the Gadarenes, besought him to depart from them: for they were taken with great fear. And he went into the boat, and returned. ³⁸ Now the man out of whom the demons had departed, besought him that he might be with him. But Jesus sent him away, saying,

²⁹ But they constrained him, saying, Abide with us: for it is towards evening, and the day is far spent. And he went in to tarry with them.

³⁴ Jesus saith to them, My food is to do the will of him that sent me, and to finish his work.

⁴⁰ So when the Samaritans had come to him, they besought him that he would tarry with them: and he abode there two days.

²⁴ When the people therefore saw that Jesus was not there, neither his disciples, they also took boats, and came to Capernaum, seeking for Jesus.

¹⁶ Come ye near to me, hear ye this; I have not spoken in secret from the beginning; from the time that it was, there am I: and now the Lord GOD, and his Spirit, hath sent me.

¹⁴ Now after John was put in prison, Jesus came into Galilee, preaching the gospel of the kingdom of God, ¹⁵ And saying, The time is fulfilled, and the kingdom of God is at hand: repent ye, and believe the gospel.

³⁸ And he said to them, Let us go into the next towns, that I may preach there also: for, for this purpose have I come. ³⁹ And he preached in their synagogues throughout all Galilee, and cast out demons.

³⁸ For I came down from heaven, not to do my own will, but the will of him that sent me. ³⁹ And this is the Father's will who hath sent me, that of all which he hath given me, I should lose nothing, but should raise it up again at the last day. ⁴⁰ And this is the will of him that sent me, that every one who seeth the Son, and believeth on him, may have everlasting life: and I will raise him up at the last day.

⁴ I must work the works of him that sent me, while it is day: the night cometh when no man can work.

²¹ Then said Jesus to them again, Peace be to you: as my Father hath sent me, even so I send you.

² Preach the word; be instant in season, out of season; reprove, rebuke, exhort with all long-suffering and doctrine.
